Noticing the man's quite luxurious and expensive apparel Meier greets the gentleman with a made up smile and crude noble manners quite out of date. 

"Hmm greetings fellow blue blood"

'A crazy man indeed a polite greeting won't hurt though'

However not willing to have a conversation with a stranger that's saying welcome to everyone entering the city gate he'll say that he's on a hurry and go away hoping that he left a good impression on the gentleman.
