Thomas looks up at him surprised by the appearance of the gleeful gentleman, puts a hand on his shoulder, makes a warm smile in turn and proclaims in a lively tone “Well, my friend, of course I came here for none of those things!”. He looks around as if trying to parody a spy looking around before revealing an important piece of information, leans in closer to the gentleman and says in a quieter tone “You see I am here for quite the opposite. I am here for all the rats that run around the alleys and sewers of this city and all the mud and filth that plagues your roads. And I sure hope you are one of the people who would want those things gone rather then let them spread, are you not?” after saying that he leans out and says in the previous lively tone “and a good meal and bedding would be quite nice too! So, can you recommend me any places, dear friend?”

How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: applying previously acquired knowledge to your character who logically has no way of knowing this in the universe he is in. For example, saying you know about a certain event happening even though your character has not seen or heard about it.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Making your character God like in some way be it through their backstory or by just roleplaying to be invincible, basically plot armor.
