How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Don't try and make your character the "main character", lets say in a battle scenario, "I pull out my 50 foot flame sword which kills you instantly." Also just go along with what is happening like you where actually there and not pulling stuff out if your butt. Powergaming just ruins the whole experience for everyone else and can even result in a lore character dying before they're supposed to. I think the best way to avoid powergaming is to think about the person your in contact with and apply what you know about their character to interact with them. Also when roleplaying take your character's looks and characteristics into play, also take consideration of your character's relationships and beliefs when roleplaying. All of these are important so your 90 year old character who is missing an arm and a leg doesnt start running on walls or start being super agile.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: It can ruin the experience, joy, and surprise of what happens not just for you but for everyone. Also it can give you an unfair advantage if its something like a raid on you or something. It also can cause many problems with roleplay to where you are aware that someone is trying to kill you because someone told you. So when he tries to kill you your prepared and can possible mess up the flow of events and ruin the whole story. Again if you where to become aware of a raid happening out side of roleplay and have your character act on it it could ruin EVERYTHING and can possibly destroy someone else's character. Also metagaming ruins events by knowing the outcome of a war or ruin something as simple as a relationship between characters. Metagaming is never ok no mater how it affects you it will most likely affect the server even more.

You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

((How do you respond?))

Giraudus would take a seat, "I'm nothing more than an adventurer, I come here to find an ingredient for a potion." The man would shift a bit in his seat as he looked around the room, a bit skeptical. "It's a rare plant that is said to only grow around these parts, or so I heard. Its said to glow like the sun... and shine like holy light with roots so thick not even the toughest of men cant rip it from the ground." The man would dig through his satchel, pulling out a pair of gloves. "I'd like to test that theory however!" He spoke as he leaned back in his chair a bit, putting away the gloves. "If I cannot find this herb, I'll explore and find some sort of substitute." He paused for a moment. "I haven't ever been the one to make potions unlike my family before me who were all alchemist and of the nature. I wish I learned more from them because now I need this potion for someone who is very close to me and if I don't hurry they might not make it."
