    How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Metagaming is putting yourself into your character. Basically knowing something that your character wouldn't have information of. For example, if you were to be robbed, but you saw the theif's ign through the wall, and then track him down because of that tidbit of information. In that situation you would have to act as your character would, and the character wouldn't see the name.
    How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Powergaming is when your character does something that they wouldn't and couldn't be able to do. It is similar to meta gaming in that you are doing something that the character couldn't do, but on a more extreme level. Basically, playing god. For example, say the thief from the other example, goes into your house and steals some bread or something, and in return you start "rping" and say "As the thief leaves the premises, he falls into a well hidden trap right outside the door and dies instantly. This would be power gaming because it is unfair for the thief who should also have a chance to win an encounter.
