How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Anything that would break immersion and give the perpetrator an upperhand. In this server's case however it means knowing something before having come across it in character

How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Utilizing impossibly powerful means to achieve one's end or satisfy one's ambition. Also employing emotes upon other players without consent. (e.g. halfling beheading an uruk with one desultory swing of his letter opener)

Vincent narrows his eyes at the gentleman and looks over his shoulders at a few other more comely dressed passengers disembarking from his ferry. He turns back to the unnervingly jubilant man and says, “Why don’t you harass them instead? I’m sure they’re more likely to humour your spiel than me.” And with that curt rejoinder, Vincent saunters off to join the throngs of patrons in the clamour of the lively market.
