    How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Playing true to your character and it's attributes. If your character is sick, it will likely be in a weakened state and won't be as alert. If suffering from an injury, the character will move slower and be less aggressive. Keep "emotes" realistic to your characters current, and future, situation.
    How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: A big part of roleplay is lack of important information that will have a grand reveal later in the story. If that information is leaked, it ruins the experience. Plus, given that information, some players may start to act differently then they would have without that information.

You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

The smell of woods and swamp is a welcoming aroma for me. Reminds me of my, although unfortunate, childhood. I may not be able to SEE anything around me, but I've lived in my blind state for long enough to be able to feel everything around me as though I were a sight-holder. I tighten my headband and enter the tent, again thankful for my ancestors for blessing me with a second sight. 

 

The tent is filled with the scent of fire and humans. We Wood Elves can't stand the smell, a mix of polution, destruction, and hatred, and with my superior senses the smell makes me want to gag. 

 

An ancient woman, even by elf standards, sits in the back. She seems to have been waiting for me.

 

"Tell me your story."

 

"I would like to know who's asking first," not trying to hide my disdain.

 

"That doesn't matter" she croaks. "Just pretend I am an old friend you're catching up with."

 

"I don't have friends" I spit at her.

 

"BAH! Your kind is so uptight. Forget the reasons, just spill you heart out you fool."

 

I don't have anything better to do so I oblige. 

 

"Where to start. Well, as you can see, I am not able to see. Not in the same way you do at the very least. My cursed birth parents went overboard practicing some not-so-acceptable magic with me nearby and I got caught in the backlash. But they faced their punishment. After I was healed to the best ability of the elves, I went to live with a hermit for the last 17 years. She recently returned to Freya, bless her soul, but her last request was for me to get out in the world and bury my resentment for it. Especially my hatred for you damn forest-burners."

 

"Ahem. Well, you've lived quite the life I see."

 

"Screw you." 

 

"That was not intended to offend you, young one."

 

"Whatever. Well, where do I go from here?"
