I smile as the man greets me, taking in my surroundings with a deep breath. “Why, hello, kind sir,” I say, imagining how proud my parents would be of that response. “Ah,” I hesitate, “you see, my parents wanted me to learn more of our faith.” I straighten my dress and brush off the dust, offering my hand out to him. “How do you do?” I ask as he takes my hand and I smile graciously at him.
