On this day I stepped into the lands of famous magi and decided it needed a stronger leader(aka Jimbo). As I pondered the possibilities of the magely courts and the long stretches of unused road, I realized something very peculiar. If it were not for me, these lands would have never been built. The Uialben name stretches far throughout the entire Southern Realms of Arcas, and rightfully so. The Empyria of the Concord had basically been raised by the head of the ethnic family, it had shown nothing but absolute appreciation and dedication to the Llyrian cause, ever since they were just an offshoot of Sutica. 

Jimbo Uialben has proven himself as a capable leader, being one of Myst’s long lost sons, had in his first day of finding his father, taken out a criminal and then swiftly married them. As the new direct fit son of Terr’hi Uialben, he deserves and will obtain the title of Empyrion of Llyria.  

Jimbo’s first declaration is the utter muntation of Dark Mages, the instatement of purity in the lands of the Concord to make up for past misgreviences. The cuckholdage of power from that of the Princely Court, immediately handing it towards that of the Uialben Family in order to bring about a change for the better of the ghost town of Llyria

~SUMMARY~

The Tournament of Ancient’s Recall will be held behind the arts district in Llyria. Signs will be posted directing those who wish to participate or watch to the location. Participates will fight until the opposing opponent is downed, and you may lose once without being removed from the tournament, but the second time you lose, you’re out. Those watching may bet on who they think will win each round, though the betting will not be facilitated by those running the event. 

The tournament will be managed by Erendiel Venric ((Safhara)), Coordinator of the Echelon of Oversight. Please direct any and all queries their way.

~BRACKETS~

Persons may continue signing up until the first round is over. The first round will consist of random pairings fighting, resulting in a winner and a loser. The winners will be bracketed together and vice versa. The winners of the winner and loser brackets will fight in the final round, and the final victor will become the Champion of Recall.

Those wishing to enter their name into the tournament must pay a 50 Mina entrance fee which will be collected on the day of the tournament.

Participants must only use the provided weapons and armour. In addition, at the end of each round, they must return said weapons and armour for the next person to use. To win, you must only down your opponent. If the opponent is killed, it will be considered murder. Any fighting outside of the designated area is strictly prohibited. Further instructions given by those running the tournament must be obeyed.

To continue the tradition of wellness and fun, the Echelon of Oversight is hosting a celebratory “Beach Bash”. Head down to the Serpenstone Beach and revel in the varying activities the Princess of Compassion has in store for you! The bash is a party that will take place beside the arts district in Llyria, including a number of different activities to take part in, including a tiki bar, sandcastles, and more. The party will be managed by Emeline Le Doulcet ((LotsOfMuffins)), Princess of Compassion and Coordinator of the Echelon of Oversight. Please direct any and all queries their way.

~ATTRACTIONS~

• Compete against other party-goers in the constant boat races. A track will be set up for the event, so be sure to take part. Betting is encouraged but not facilitated. 

• Build the greatest sandcastle to ever have been created. Materials will be provided.

• Fish off the docks of the port city. Fishing rods will be provided. 

• Jump into the water and escape the sun. 

• Gather around the campfire for songs, stories, and roasted pumpkin.

With a new menu and new management, The Dancing Drake is going to have its grand re-opening ceremony and party this day.

Celebrating not only the passing of the warring nations, the Princess of Compassion and Echelon of Oversight bring to you a night of marvel and spectacle. Turn your gaze to the sky and revel in the lights which ignite the darkness.

Sunday, September 29th: Obstacle Course Competition

This day, an obstacle course will take over all of Llyria, and the winner(s) will receive a prize. 

Formed on the 11th of Amber Cold, 1728, The Omeryn Constabulary was drafted and created by the reigning Empyrion, Ithrendas Regis, following the outcry of abuse and corruption within the ranks of the previous and now fallen Traceless Order. Despite their oaths, the Traceless failed in their task to keep the people and the city safe.

For a great while, and by the absence of the reigning throne, the city was a lawless and hostile state open and willing to permit the treacherous and foul. It was upon the return that the Empyrion declared and instituted the Constabulary to ensure that their home was kept free of poison and crime.

It is thus that the Prince of Endurance, and the Prince of Rationality, stand united and in arms to keep the Concord safe and from harm. With Vigilance watching over the Judicial sector, and Endurance maintaining the Constabulary, the Arm of the Law is once more enforced and the city is protected once again. The Omeryn Constabulary is bound and dedicated to ensuring that crime and justice are served, utilising the arts of de-escalation and management to keep people safe and secure. No longer shall a guard of our great home levy arms against its denizens and will stand as benevolent protectors of the people of the Concord.

• Prince of Endurance

Set in place by the Princely Court, the Prince of Endurance is the personification of the Ohric Perfection of the strong and the stalwart. It is the responsibility of the Prince to ensure the Constabulary is running with efficacy and acting as the go-to for any concerns and qualms any may have concerning the order or any who dwell within.

• Secretary of Endurance

The de-facto head of the Constabulary, the Chief Constable, the Secretary bound to the Prince of Endurance is the one individual who commands complete and total respect and authority over the Constabulary. They are in charge of the day to day running, recruitment, training, and management of the Constabulary and it’s structure. 

• Sergeant

An experienced and well-respected Constable of the Omeryn Constabulary, the Sergeant class are considered to be well versed and competent in their duties and the law and are promoted to a position which distinguishes them above the rest. With this promotion, however, the once Constable is expected to aid the Secretary in training and management of the Constabulary.

• Constable

A stalwart protector, an individual whose will is just as mighty as the arm that delivers justice. A Constable is the basic and typical member of the Constabulary and is rigorously vetted and trained in the ways of de-escalation, and defensive combat. 

To join the Omeryn Constabulary, you must meet these minimum requirements:

• You must be a citizen of the Concord of Llyria above the age of twenty-one.
• You must have no currently unspent criminal convictions or any convictions spent within the past six years.
• You must be mentally capable and able to pass a simple numeracy and literacy test.
• You must be physically capable and able to pass a simple entrance exam.
• You must not practice or be born of practices considered evil or maleficent.

    I N T R O D U C T I O N,

    Mustela Lutris, or the ‘Sea Otter’, is a species of marine Mammal that inhabits coastlines of northern, and temperate continents and islands. Typically weighing between thirty, and one-hundred pounds. They are a subset of the ‘Mustela’, a group which many weasel type animals share. Differing from the majority of Marine Mammals, the Otter does not use blubber as insulation against the cold of the waters, but thick layers of fur, and grease which protects it. As well, the Otter is far better suited to life on land than any other aquatic mammal, having both hands and feet, instead of flippers. Inhabiting Coastal regions, Otters swim to the shore floor to prey upon a variety of bottom-feeding animals, such as clams, urchins, and crabs. The Animal remains a remarkable species in twofold ways; it has been documented that the Otter uses tools - stones, by which to break open the shells of prey it has found, and secondarily, the extraordinary necessity for their place in the ecosystem. As they feast upon Urchins, they control the local population of kelp-grazers. Without the Otters, the urchins would swarm over the kelp forests, and turn it into a barren wasteland.

The Sea Otter, (Mustela Lutris), is a Marine Mammal. It is related to species of the ‘Mustela’ Family, which includes Ferrets, Badgers, Martins, and Minks. Unlike those just listed however, the Otter widely differs from the rest of its kin, being both aquatic, and by far the largest of all the Mustela related animals. So far, there are ten species of Otter identified, with habitats ranging from coastal basins, to inland rivers. The subject of today's paper will be the ‘Sea Otter’, the most common of the Otter family. 

To begin, the Otter is small by the standards of Marine Mammals - the smallest of them all, when compared to Whales, Dolphins, and seals. However, they are the largest of their species, weighing an average of seventy pounds, and standing at three and a half feet long. Sizes and weights differ with both age and sex, as Otters exhibit Sexual Dimorphism. Females on average are a third smaller than the males, in both size and weight. Similar to seals, they have a rear pair of flipper-like feet, elongated with webbing. Upon the front, they have more terrestrially shaped paws that are more suited for ground based movement, as well as grabbing their primary food sources. 

Unlike all other large marine Mammals, the Otter has no blubber to keep itself insulated in cold waters. Instead, it boasts the thickest fur in the animal kingdom with two layers. Long guard-hairs protect the soft underfur from taking on water, and the underfur keeps the animal incredibly warm. The fur is not shed in an annual molting, but instead it is preened year-round, constantly being tended to and regrown to ensure buoyancy and warmth. Instrumental to it’s grooming is the Otter’s remarkably flexible skeleton, allowing it to bend and reach virtually anywhere on its body. This flexibility also serves as a defensive mechanism, the Otter able to twist and turn out of the way of predators in its environment. Fur colours have little range among adults but in youth, speckles appearing on the belly-fur, then gradually fading as adulthood approaches. All Otters have a light furred face, in stark contrast to their dark bodies. 

The Otter’s main method of aquatic motion is an undulating swim in which the rear of the body, including the feet and tail move up and down. It tucks it’s front paws tightly to its chest, and folds its ears back while swimming, capable of reaching significant speeds underwater. When idle at the surface, it floats upon its back and gently paddles its feet side to side for any movement necessities. At complete rest, all four limbs can be folded over the chest to provide insulation in cold weather. In the opposite situation, the feet may be held underwater in hot weather to provide vital cooling. The whole animal is highly buoyant, with both a remarkably large lung capacity providing internal carrying of air, as well as the large amount of air stored within its fur. To this end, young Sea-Otters cannot in fact swim, and will float to the surface of the water if they attempt to dive. Lastly, on land the Otter ambles clumsily, but can do a ferret-like bounding movement if required.

Upon its snout are long, sensitive whiskers that assist in the location of food and prey in the typically murky water of its habitat. Their noses seem to be sensitive, and it can be safely assumed that both touch and scent are the primary senses by which the Otter locates prey. A Particular quirk of the dentition of the Otter is that virtually all mature Otters have purple teeth and bones. This is presumably from the colouring of the Urchin upon which they feed - purple. Finally, the Otter is a remarkable freshwater species in that although certainly a mammal, it can drink salt-water with no side-effects. Dissections have revealed disproportionately large kidneys.

    The Behavior of the Otter is complex, as they are an intelligent species capable of adaptation to varying environments. Some absolutes however, do remain. The species is a dinural one, meaning that they operate not largely in the day or night, but in the moments of sunrise and sundown. They feed and forage in the morning, then begin a rest period until mid-day. During this period, they either sleep, or groom themselves. At mid-day, they will spend an hour or so foraging, and then engage another rest period until sundown, when their longest and most active foraging period begins. Females with young pups (Sea Otter Juveniles) spend far more time sunset foraging than morning foraging. 

    Much of their rest time is spent grooming, untangling knots, cleaning the fur, removing loose fur, rubbing their bodies to squeeze water out of it, and blowing new air into it. Observation has led earlier people to think of Otters as ‘Itching,’ and a dirty species plagued by mites, yet the vast majority of samples have turned up entirely negative for any nit, mite, or parasite. When eating, in fact, Otters roll to ensure the jetsam from their meals does not stick to their fur. 

    Otters hunt in a diving fashion, foraging along the bottom of coastal areas, piers, and kelp-forests for a variety of foods. Otters typically dive for two minutes, though a dive of four has been recorded. It is the only Aquatic Mammal capable of lifting rocks, and using tools in its hunt. They will pick up rocks, and drop them to dislodge mussels, clams, and snails from their various surfaces. When hunting fish, it will grab them with their claws - not their teeth. 

    All Otters carry with them a rock particular to the individual, which they use to smash open the closed shell of their prey. Upon a dive, an Otter will collect a number of clams, then surface and float upon its back. It will then either simply rip open the clam, or, if the clam is providing a challenge, place it upon its belly and lift the rock, bringing it down upon the invertebrate and breaking the shell.

    The social structure of Otters is complex and varied, depending on age, location, and ecological pressures. However, there are many base observations that apply to all. Otters forage and hunt alone, but they conglomerate in large groups called rafts. Rafts are sequestered by gender, as males have one group, and the female and pups have another. Most rafts are around twenty, to a hundred animals, but verbal stories have reported rafts as large as one-thousand animals. When at rest, Mother Otters may wrap and tether their young in kelp to hold them in place whilst they go on dives. Mature otters occasionally do this as well, depending on the current and weather. 

    In mating, a male otter is most likely to mate if he maintains a territory that is satisfactory to females. Autumn is the breeding season for Otters, and thusly defend their territory ranging from late spring to mid-autumn. Defense mostly consists of patrolling, and physical confrontation is extremely rare. Females however will move from one territory to another freely, and in fact outnumber the males around five to one.  

Otters exhibit dimorphic vocal sounds, the females cooing, whereas the males grunt. When in distress, both may hiss, whistle, and yip. They are a playful animal, spending some idle time wrestling, swimming, and playing.

Through trials and tribulations, the Concord of Llyria remains as stalwart and steady as it always has. With its roots firmly pressed into the soil below, her branches grow to shelter the errant scholars of the world who seek homage in a place of knowledge and magical well-ness. With so many having fled from our home with the threat of war, we seek to reach out to embrace those who willingly return. It has been deemed so by the Office of the Princess of Compassion, and the Echelon of Oversight, that the denizenship system shall be revisited and wiped clean This system requires that information is provided to the government for documentation purposes, and will act as confirmation of your citizenship in the Concord.

• Life: The Denizens of Llyria are guaranteed the right to life. No person may willingly initiate physical force against another person unless it is an act of self-defence, or permitted under the law.

• Liberty: The Denizens of Llyria are guaranteed the right to liberty. No person may be silenced in their utterances or publications unless such utterances or publications are proven to be misleading, or false, are leaking confidential intergovernmental information, or are targeted harassment degrading the prestige of a particular individual.

• Property: The Denizens of Llyria are guaranteed the right of property. No person’s private property shall be infringed upon unless done so by a member of the guard operating with a warrant.

• Happiness: The Denizens of Llyria are guaranteed the right to happiness. No person may infringe upon another’s right to the pursuit of happiness so long as such a pursuit adheres to the laws and regulations of The Concord, and does not infringe upon the rights of others. 

• Trial: The Denizens of Llyria are guaranteed the right to a trial. No person may infringe upon this right, which may be invoked at such a time when one is accused of committing a crime.

Passing of Caelum’s Watch Festival, circa 1729

[!] An advertisement would be posted to all major and minor settlements of the land, reading as follows. 

“The Concord of Llyria invites you all to the festival of the Passing of Caelum’s Watch, which honours prowess, mighty warriors, and grand competitions. The festival will be held The Grand Harvest, 1729, where all those may come to participate in the festivities.”

There will be tournaments, a drinking competition, fried food for sale, free t-shirts, fireworks, a dunk tank, and more. The winners of each of the tournaments and competitions will receive 1,000 Minas, second place receiving 500, and third receiving 250. 

Fireworks will be launched at the end of the festival to commemorate the closing. Halfway through the festival, there will be a brief moment of silence for the passing of the faithful Cardinal Omeryn, where we will gather around his memorial and offer flowers.

Pre-event, individuals are welcome to approach a member of the Princely Court to purchase a temporary allotment to set up a shop during the festivities. Should you wish to sell your wares and make use of the advertised space for the duration of the romping evening the night is bound to be, get in contact with your nearest Steward or Event Coordinator!

Who I am and why I have made the lotteries: 

I am Tsagukan Sakuramichi. I am an Easterner that currently lives within the Llyrian Concord. I have found that games of chance are very enjoyable. Due to this, I have decided to open up a lottery for people to win. I do like entertaining people and bringing smiles to their faces. Not only do I get to provide entertainment, but I will also be providing myself and Llyria with a means of having an income. I wish you luck in your lottery.

How the lotteries work:

At the end of each year [[one irl week]], five sets of numbers will be drawn for each lottery [[using /roll]]. Any person who has matching numbers [[/roll(s)]] will win from a portion to the entirety of the lottery depending on how many sets of numbers match.

 Matching one set of numbers of a lottery will mean you win one fifth (1/5) of that respective lottery. Matching two sets of numbers of a lottery will mean you win two fifths (2/5) of that respective lottery. Matching three sets of numbers of a lottery will mean you win three fifths (3/5) of that respective lottery.  Matching four sets of numbers of a lottery will mean you win four fifths (4/5) of that respective lottery. Matching five sets of numbers of a lottery will mean you win five fifths (5/5), or all of that respective lottery.

How to participate:

Travel to Llyria and find the shop of Llyrian Lotteries. Purchase as many plaques as you want from as many of the different lotteries as you want. Look on the back of your plaque(s) for the lottery numbers. Do not lose the plaque. You will need to turn it in as proof of purchase if you have one or multiple sets of matching numbers. I will publicly announce the winning numbers as the end of each year. 

If more than one person has matching numbers, the person with a higher amount of matching numbers will win. If two people have the same amount of matching numbers, the winnings will be split in half between the two participants.

Meant to be a small lottery for folks that can’t afford the larger ones, this lottery is cheap and you are more likely to win this one. It costs 50 mina to purchase a plaque. The base pot was 200 mina, and growing.

Dragon’s Breath

This is the most expensive, yet most rewarding lottery if you win. Your chances of winning this lottery are far less than that of the lower lotteries.     I N T R O D U C T I O N,

Chelonia Mydas - Commonly known as the Green Sea Turtle, is a species of reptile native to most of our coastal and coral ocean regions. Terrestrially, they inhabit the belt of our planet that is categorized as tropical, or subtropical, regions defined by their temperature, and level of rain that they receive. Locally, the greatest populations inhabit the shallow seas around the large southern Island below the mainland of Arcas. Their main diet is sea-grass, upon which they feed vigorously, although they have been known to graze upon kelp. As with most other sea-turtles, they are a migratory species that travel large distances to isolated beaches upon which to lay their eggs - which they do in great numbers. These turtles, alongside most of their brethren, are a remarkably long-lived species, and can live up to seventy years - though such cases are rare in the wild.

    The Green Sea Turtle is, as mentioned, a Reptile of the Order Chelonii, or turtles. More locally, they are related to the Hawksbill {Eretmochelys}, Loggerhead {Caretta}, and Napier {Lepidochelys} sea turtles. Now, back to the Green Turtle, the creature itself - at Adulthood, on average - is around five feet long, and can weigh between one-hundred and fifty, to four-hundred pounds, spending on food availability. Unlike terrestrial turtles, they do not have legs, but flippers. As with most terrestrial-aquatic life*, their skeletons are specially adapted to life in a marine environment. Despite having the same pattern of skeleton as all reptiles and mammals - that is to say, five fingers and toes, bilateral symmetry, a spine and such - the shape of them is vastly different from their land-based cousins. Instead of having fingers in a prehensile form as we do, or toes that splay - they have congealed in form to form one long flipper, to propel it through it’s environment with maximum efficiency. However, if the flesh and muscle is removed - it is clear that the bones are separate, and just elongated! 

    As for it’s head - it differs again from Terrestrial turtles, in that it cannot retract it’s neck within its shell, instead relying on a leathery, osteoderm covered skull to protect it from hunters. Unlike it’s cousins, the Hawksbill or the Loggerhead, the Green is differentiated by it’s short snout - very close to its eyes, and unhooked beak, as in it does not have an ‘overbite.’ This is most likely due to its diet, which is entirely reliant on grazing soft grasses, instead of predating upon anemones. In common with all types of turtles - depending on the species, the shell formation is different. As the turtle ages, the whole colour of the turtle, both its carapace - shell, and plastron - underside recolouring. In its youth, have a nearly black carapace, with a light, pale cream or yellow plastron. Entering the juvenile stage, the carapace changes from black, or dark brown to an olive - and by adulthood, the carapace can be a variety of colours; entirely brown, mottled brown and red, or marbled with lighter hued rays. The last major point of differentiation from other similar turtles, is the number of claws it has upon the front flippers - two. In others, they only have one.

    The habitat of the Sea turtle is varied, and can be divided into three regions. In their earliest form - as an egg, they live in beaches, buried under sand mounds dug by their mothers. Once hatched, they follow the light of the moon into the ocean and disappear for several years, though some have been seen in juvenile form near flotsam on the open ocean in rare occurrences. It is the last stage that is most well known, of adulthood. In their fully grown state, Sea-Turtles dwell in coral reefs and shallow lagoons, filled with sea-grass, their staple food. In dwelling on the reefs, they graze on the algae that grow over the corals and rocks, and are protected from the more violent outbursts of tropical weather that the lagoons would not protect them from. When inhabiting the lagoons, there is a peculiar type of circular symbiosis involving the turtles - involving the grass, and a variety of sharks as well. Tiger sharks inhabit the sea-grass plains, moving slowly, but dangerous enough to keep the grazing turtles on the move. This constant relocation due to the sharks by the turtles ensures that no one patch of grass is over-grazed, allowing the plains to constantly have a supply of grass for which the turtles can eat. 

    As adults, the Turtles have but a few predators - humans, and local large sharks, such as the aforementioned tiger shark. Hatchling turtles however, face a much longer list of predators. From the beach to the water, they undergo predation from crabs, infant otters and seals, and a variety of shorebirds, depending on the location. Once in the water, any number of fish prey upon the tiny turtles.

    The life cycle of the turtle may be the most impressive thing about the animal, considering the lengths, and journey mother turtles undergo to reproduce. Between nesting sites and feeding sites, the distances can grow to over a thousand miles, the turtles of course, swimming the entire way. The most remarkable thing however, is that a ‘turtle’ beach is a most enduring prospect - every turtle hatched from one beach in particular, will, if female, return to the very same beach upon which she was hatched. The females of the species will make this journey every four years, whereas the males will arrive every year, in an attempt to find a partner. Differing regional populations stagger their arrivals - so every year, the males have someone to mate with. As to the beaches themselves, they must be sandy, elongated, flat-ish, and close to water. For the mating process, the female determines who she mates with, and this process occurs in the water. Once mated, she crawls onto the beach, along with several hundred - to several thousand of her sisters, and begins to dig a hole in a select point on the beach. The hole haven been dug, she deposits her eggs - between eighty to two-hundred of them, depending on age, and strength, then covers them up and returns to the ocean. 

    For Green Sea turtles, their eggs are nearly completely spherical, and bone white, around two inches in diameter. After fifty to seventy days - the eggs hatch, all of them at once, only at night. From there, the hatchling turtles follow the light of the moon, hanging over the ocean to guide them into the water. It is this period which accounts for the majority of predation.

    A danger, in some recent years is shore-development in nesting zones, and the building of lighthouses. In some regions, the beachheads of turtle sites have been built over, or filled with the detritus of descendant living, be they whale-bone dumping yards, dockyards, or fishing communities. This, of course, renders the breeding impossible, and upsets the natural cycle of generations in the turtles propagation. Another difficulty, is with lights near shore-areas, ranging from high lantern concentrations, to lighthouses. It seems that infant turtles, although supposedly guided by the light of the moon - are not so sensitive that they cannot be led astray. The beam of a non-rotating lighthouse, or other light concentrations close to nesting beach-heads can lure the turtles in the opposite direction from the ocean, where they will certainly be preyed upon to diminishing numbers. 

    Areas in which turtle nesting grounds are known should be, by state prerogative, be banned from having lights within at least a thousand yards, and have light-houses turned off on the night of their hatching.

One Saint’s day ago, we the people of Llyria have discovered the death of our 

Dearest Lord Chancellor and Cardinal, Cassian Colborn. 

Cassian Cardinal Omeryn was a faithful Canonist devoted to the church and to serving those under the name of GOD. He was also a mighty and loyal servant under the Llyrian government taking the seat of Lord Chancellor, in which he helped govern the nation under the Empyrion. His hard work and deeds are still apart of the governing structures of Llyria and her people.  

In response to this tragic and heartbreaking event, we Llyrians will be holding a year vigil in remembrance of this wonderful man and the life he led. Many will be wearing black to signify the mourning of this tragic loss. A memorial has been placed in the town square in honor of him, please pay your respects and allow those who are in grief to do the same.

To the denizens of Llyria:

Your guards do not care about you, they only care about their laws.

Your guards do not care about your safety, they only care about their own.

A child is killed in the streets. Do the guards act? No. 

A group of soldiers block entry to the city, killing citizens as they go. Do the guards act? No.

Men march into the city, dragging denizens and visitors of Llyria alike out to the roads to slaughter them. Do the guards act? No.

A man  and a woman sit on a bench, wearing masks. Do the guards act? Of course they do. 

Because it was easy.

Because it was “their job”.

Because it was “the law”.

I ask these questions to you, fellow citizens:

Do you trust the guards of the city to keep you safe at night, when they can’t even protect a young boy from being slaughtered in the street in the middle of the day?

Do you trust the guards of the city to keep peace when they solely focus on harassing the very citizens who keep them employed?

Do you trust the guards of the city to prove themselves useful in any situation when they only seem to care about doing what is easy, rather than doing what is right?

We need men and women on the guardforce who will do what’s right, what is just, and what is compassionate. We don’t need golems who solely follow what is written down on a piece of paper. We need leaders.

I say this:

Let us force the leaders to come out. Let us divide the shepherds from the sheep. Are they going to arrest us all? Beat us to the ground? Or are they going to stare at us through their visors and understand that the people are more important than the law? 

Join me, fellow denizens. Don your masks and have a seat with me in the city square in six elven days. To bring about change, you must act. So we shall act.

    I N T R O D U C T I O N,

The initial intrigue that founded this paper, that is to say the very foundational core of why I am here today, starts simply. I was taking a casual stroll, one that anyone within Llyria would say I am undoubtedly oft to do. I had approached the shoreline, and began my regular walk across its curvature, when I  peered down. I found a very strange stone, for indeed I am able to call it a stone, with a rather strange marking impressed within its features. I had taken it immediately to a friend and colleague, who has asked me to call him ‘S’ within the confines of this paper. He assured me that the material itself was indeed of natural stone, and took it one step further. His knowledge of both the realm of the physical and of the arcane had most graciously informed me, upon his own experimentation of the item in question, that there was no realistic possibility that the emblazoned image upon the stone was done by a craftsman’s hand. It was consistent with naturally forming rock, resting atop whatever the imprint would eventually be. Naturally, he had continued to inspect it for magical tampering or other forms of unnatural interference, and informed me that the likelihood of this was very low. For you see, in an effort to make the indent appear natural over the inconsistent forming of the sedimentary layers, careful time and delicacy would have to be taken, far more than would be worth a small indentation in a stone. 

    Having been left with the summary that these specimens were not of unnatural creation, the questions are left open. What manner of creature could these teeth have belonged to? Why do they not appear as bone, but as mineral material? Why were they found in such a geologic formation? IF belonging to an animal of such proportional size to the teeth, why has no such creature been documented, or even had any evidence of contemporary existence at all? To answer these questions, this paper shall dive into a myriad of subjects, ranging from theoretical geology, a budding field, to Allometric scaling ratios, and beyond. Much, it must be admitted, will be theories compounding on theories - but the physical evidence cannot be ignored, so liberties must be taken with the empiricism that is so important to the reputable methodology of discovery.

The Location of the Discovery

And

The Meaning derived from such

    To begin meaningful discussion and valuable theorization about the origins of the specimen, significant thought must be made towards the location and environment in which it was found, for the first of the clues will be within the locality itself. The precise area in which it was found were the banded cliffs, northwest of Llyria on the Southwestern shore of the continent, a sedimentary formation. Making up this formation is a typical grey stone, interrupted by a thick red band of ferrous deposits, then followed by a thick black band - not of coal, but of a very dark material, unlike the grey or ferrous bands. Then, underneath it is more typical grey deposit, and it is in this that I found the original specimen. 

Geology is a budding science and one actively being worked upon by my noble compatriot ‘S’; but while the field remains in infancy, there are still truths and empirical pieces of evidence that we can reference concerning this sample. Sedimentary deposits, such as the one that housed the specimen, are formed via a process of deposition. Through natural movements, be it wind, water, earthquakes or other forms, sediments, of various sizes - the size depending on the energy of movement - travel downwards, as the force of gravity is want to encourage in this world of ours. In certain cases, these sediments are washed or carried onto flats, where they eventually come to rest, forming a deposition. With time, and minor energy inputs - wind, or light water action - these sediments settle. This act of settling is crucial, as this is what sets up the field for the next step - compaction. Over the years - the amount as of now is not known, nor can be reasonably estimated - more and more sediments deposit. As they do, they begin to weigh upon the layers previously deposited, compacting them, and driving the water out. As the water is driven out, much of the space occupying the sedimentary band is occupied by the sediment pure, reducing the area drastically. It is in this simple fashion that where once there was meters, or perhaps dozens of meters of silty material, now only shows as a foot thick band of compacted stone. 

The types of stones that are found in this form are quite different from other stones, such as the sorts found deposited by Vulcanism - Igneous minerals, such as Obsidian, or Pumice. Now that we have established that the type of rock bed is a sedimentary variety, and quite different from other rock beds - Vulcanic in origin, we may begin to draw conclusions. The tooth was found along a horizontal plane, matching the depositional direction, instead of against it - I.e, vertically. Therefore, when the layer in which was deposited and compacted - the bonelike structure was compacted at the same time. Following the process of sedimentary compaction, any other remains - if there are such - will be found on the exact same band as the teeth, as they could not have been deposited and compacted at different times. 

As for the reasoning to why this cliffside was revealed - as with most erratic geological features, it relies on the type of stone to determine what remains, and what does not with weathering. Certain stones, like chalk, and pumice are known to be a weak stone, that can be easily washed or even blown away into fine particles - whereas other stones, such as granite and marble, are exceptionally tough, and resist weathering. The type of stone that made up the sample cliff is a mixture of limestone, sandstone, dolomite, and greywacke - along with a presumed thin banding of anthracite. All of these are sedimentary deposits, which would have been worn away by coastal action, at a time when sea levels were higher than the current day.

Tying into the topic of sea levels - the presence of hills made up of sedimentary depositional minerals suggests that the above-sea level area was not always such, and at the time of the deposition of the tooth specimen, must have been an aquatic environment. Due to the location of the sea nearby, one can only suppose that a shallow sea, or tidal flat comprised the location. As the tooth seems to indicate a similarity between itself and that of the Karakatuan Iguana - an amphibious, moss-grazing reptile - then it is all the more likely that the environment was one most similar to the habitat of the extant - currently in existence - Iguana.

    Taking the location and specimen into consideration, it is therefore most likely that the animal from whence it came, whatever it’s form may be, originated from being buried by sediments in a shallow water area, perhaps sinking slowly into mud, or being buried by a landslide of silty material while basking.

    The two teeth as seen in Exhibit B-1, and B-2. Both teeth came from the same sedimentary deposit in the location described in the previous section of this paper, very close to one-another. This suggests that they do in fact come from the same creature, and were petrified at the same time, as they also bear the same mineral type - a layered limestone.

    Looking at sample B-1, the subject is a tooth embedded in sedimentary rock, facing in the , the maximum width seen. Along the upper portions can be seen a series of tiny serrations along the edge, culminating in the top of the tooth, whereupon it returns to a smooth enamel. The tooth, in this frontal view also includes fluting, grooves and lines upon the ‘flat’ of the tooth. Upon the bottom, is the root structure, which has been somewhat lost, or chipped away. However, the root is still a significantly sturdy piece, measuring at three and a half centimeters in irregular circumference. 

    Sample B-2 is a tooth of the same variety, but embedded into the rock upon its side, giving a lateral view of the sample. With this perspective, we can see the decidedly curved nature and length of the tooth - the height, from root to tip measuring thirteen point four centimeters. The size is gargantuan, and unknown to any extant (living) organism so far discovered, par the unnatural monsters. The tooth, in the lateral view reveals a flat edge to the back, as well as a splayed shape towards the top. 

    Looking at Sample sketch C-1, we see contemporary Iguana teeth and corresponding Jaw. Although the curvature seen in B-2 is not present in C-1, the serration of B-1 is shared with the C-1 sample very closely. Furthermore, root analysis of the two teeth supports the theory that the organization that these teeth belonged too was in fact a reptile. Most Reptilian dentition is reliant on the teeth being held into the gumline, and not a bony jaw. When the tooth is held into the gumline, and not the jaw, the root is much shallower than rooted teeth, as seen clearly in B-1, with the presumed uncovered part of the tooth very low to the root.

    In Conclusion, the finding of these teeth is a discovery of the most startling and world-shattering proportions. The Implications are plentiful, ranging from an entirely undiscovered form of life, to the new age of the earth itself, and many smaller issues in between. The teeth, as discussed in the first portion of this paper, are of immense age, supported by the theory of sedimentary rock formation, easily going into the millions of years to form the thick strata layers that we see. Secondly, as there has been no creature yet encountered in this time, nor any time of written history yet - as many bestiaries and forms of artistic record-keeping have been consulted and revealed nothing with teeth - or a supposed body like this. This means that the creature that these teeth belonged to does not exist, as far as can be proven or searched within records in the modern day, rendering it an extinct animal. By what mechanism this lifeform died out, is still a complete mystery - or if it is even entirely dead, but the evidence seems to indicate such.

The Concord, or simply Llyria, is, as of the coronation of the Empyrion (1726), an exceptionally diverse nation, with a majority of its population free from the distracting essence of the magics. Yet despite the amalgamation of individuals, and creatures, of diverse constitution, background, and opinion, the state manages to keep itself relatively civil, without permitting the slightest of cracks to form within its foundation. Why, you might ask? A great deal of care, compassion, and togetherness, with a drive to forward the mission on which all Llyrians walk, that of a bastion of paradise, a community of hardworking, intelligent, and considerate individuals.

Yet, it remains the opinion of many, despite the growing flock of Llyrian Canonists, that the church itself is too plagued with a past of violence and fervor, unbecoming of these values, to be a viable option for one who seeks to adhere the “Llyrian way”. While the reality of the matter remains that there indeed have been those whose fervor has brought them to the extreme, they are rarely unjust in operation, fulfilling the will of GOD. Yet, justice need not always be bloody, nor aggressive in its carrying out. Just action can too be compassionate, and peaceful. It can occur amidst conversation and festivities, as much as it can amidst raids and violence against evil.

Epulonism, or a epulonistic view, relates to a view of Canonism that centers around concepts of community, and togetherness, which align well with the views of the peoples of Llyria, in their pursuit of happiness, intellect, and purpose. Faith, or otherwise adherence to the doctrines and expectations of a good Canonist, need not be of strict, poor-emulating temperance lain atop a view of life that is grim, solemn, and filled with endless prayer and repentance. Rather, life exists to be enjoyed and experienced to its fullest, within the confines of what remains applicable to a well-rounded, and non-hedonistic person. Finding pleasure and joy in existence is not by itself sinful, just as partaking in the fun of a festival, or spending time within a tavern, are not by themselves sinful, but can act as slippery slopes into further debauchery.

And so I would prompt you to look to the faiths you adhere, and to consider their aspects, expectations, and the beings whom you regard as divine, and worthy of your consideration and prayer. It is made known through the Scrolls of the being of the world, of how all came to be, and the origin of life . From the first man and woman were sired the four brothers, originators of the descendants about whom we live today. Yet it was not always so that the early lineages adhered to the word of GOD, but rather many fell to the temptations of Iblees, and slipped into the bottomless hole of debauchery and ignorance (Horen 7).

Yet this fall was not without its notable facets, for enjoying wine is not drowning oneself in it, just as feasting on sweets is not gorging on sickening stuff to such an extent as that one’s being degrades into gluttony. To be a Canonist is not to single oneself out from the rest of society, nor is it to hate or become the essence of loathing, just as it is not to be rid of happiness and love, but rather only to limit the extent to which one experiences these things, as not to become lost in their ecstasy such that it becomes the sole focus of life. One who seeks to explore and experience the aspects of existence is not limited by the features and doctrines of the Canon faith, rather they are set on a path forward, understanding the origin of the things they see as a basis for research conducted. One who seeks to realize the existence of Aenguldaemonica is not limited by denial, for the Canon faith tells of Aenguldaemonica and its fundamental truths, which do not blockade one from further exploration into the extent and individuality of such beings.

One is given the groundwork for a healthy and fulfilling life, going about the good and bad days with friends and family, safe within a community of caring, hard working people, who need not become engrossed in ignorance and hate as others do, while still understanding the reasoning and logic behind such utterances, based in reality and therefore hate but not ignorance, when directed against those who might be deemed as lesser, whether by their own action, or the condition of their birth. Thus, we come to abominations.

A term religious, and not inherently utterly debasing. Rather, it is an assignment, a label to dictate and explain the nature of a being’s existence. Yet, given what it is, it can often be misconstrued as used to selfishly degrade another for one’s own amusement, or a sating of some great disdain, and this is not the case. For Aenguldaemonica to seek to replicate GOD is to blaspheme in action, for no one being can make themselves like GOD, and to seek to replicate the perfection that is life, the descendant races, is to attempt to make oneself like GOD, and therefore is to blaspheme foolishly.

Yet do not hate yourself for being of such birth, nor allow yourself to come to self-loathing by the utterances of others, for they are not always seeking to drive you to depression, or suicide. Rather, seek to do the best by the life you have been provided, for it is not beyond the pale to tolerate the existence of an abomination, for one need not be so justly cruel as to cut one down at the sight of it.

However, I digress. Look not to Canonism as the religion of sickening hatred and destruction, nor as the religion of limiting life to such an extent that it is unlivable, for these descriptions are not so. The actions of a few, ancient, or lone acting fervent individuals do not represent an entire group, just as a few bad apples do not spoil the bushel. Understand that Canonism is not simple in its doctrine and expectations, however simple in direction it may seem to be. There are many means by which to understand and live with faith, and it need not always be hate, but rather can work well with a positive, self-improving outlook, moving in tandem with justified ambition, pleasure, intellect, and insight.

Posters were pinned to notice boards by Couriers, smattered in purple and gray cloth, all to announce to all who cared to read a most joyous day; The Unification of Lyra Leocyne and Ithrendas Regis.

The wedding is to be held by the Waystones of Llyria, a sacred sight within The Concord. This long-awaited ceremony will be officiated by the first child, Lord Arbiter of Llyria, and the Dragon of The Concord: Ser Arik Regis.

The Concord has grown and expanded wonders throughout the years since its conception. The Denizens of the beloved Llyria have thrived despite the odds the realm has faced, and throughout it all the foundation of the Concord has remained true. It is the pride of the Maelstrom and Lordly Consul to formalise the ascension of His Serenity, Ithrendas I of House Regis, to take his rightful place as the Empyrion of the Concord.

The coronation shall take place in the Maelstrom building, presided over by Cassian Cardinal Omeryn. Following the crowning of the Empyrion, the Denizens and visitors of Llyria shall be treated to festivities, feasting, and ample drink.

A NIGHT NONE COULD MISS!

On the evening of the 10th of the Sun’s Smile, 1724, the Llyrian Consul held the first of possibly many balls, in commemoration of our massive growth over the recent years. The ball, known as The Dance of the Ancient’s Recall, was a massive success. Boundless merriment was held throughout the newly-opened common hall of the Maelstrom, as the commonfolk, foreigners, and the lords and ladies of Llyria finally celebrated the grandiose progression of our once-small city state into a prospering land.

After the events of the night, Ithrendas was then brought out to the beaches outside of Llyria, and baptized by His Lordship, Father Cassian, an unexpected move which surprised many. Perhaps this means a new beginning for the Church of the Canon within the lands of the Concord? Time will tell.*

After the prior festivities, more news had come out of the Llyrian consulate on the next elven day. The Principality of Vira’ker has come to join the Concord as the first of perhaps many vassals, where their co-operation can henceforth further the development of both groups, now under the single Llyrian banner. The Llyrian Light and all affiliated properties would like to extend its warmest welcome and it’s best wishes during the transition towards the people of Vira’ker.  

Coming soon --- The Frond Society’s Greenhouse

One of the newer groups being formulated in the Llyrian Concord is His Lordship, Father Cassian’s Frond Society. Dedicated to the preservation and study of the natural world, and to a re-introduction of Arcas’ flora and fauna into the tried and true city structure. Recently, the Frond Society had set out to build it’s first structure in the Concord, a greenhouse which would act as a gate into a world of untouched and protected nature. This greenhouse will be found behind the Chapel of Saint Amyas, also to be completed soon.

A Response to ‘A Challenge to the Ignorant’

So be it, wicked one. The greatest hound of hell, walking madness and ill-temperament, a creature of most alien design, and murderous constitution, seeking to represent Llyria as its Lord Chancellor.

Would the people truly wish to be represented by a horned red beast known to have assaulted Lady Cyrene in a most careless fashion, having lifted her by a grip on her throat merely because she sought to pause a moment while walking? Would the people truly wish to be represented by a being that would sooner be chased out of a settlement with torches and pitchforks before the thought of letting it into a palace, or diplomatic office, crossed anyone’s mind?

It is quite literally impossible for this vile creature to fulfill the duties of Lord Chancellor successfully, yet I will speak further, if this obvious issue is not reason enough for my remaining in office.

The Concord is indeed a place for a furtherance of intellect, understanding, culture, religion, and perhaps most importantly, a place to foster a healthy community, walking hand in hand to tackle the strife and pains of daily life. My utterances given in zeal and based on my faith are those that are given out of the greatest of inward compassion and concern for my fellow descendants, it is not born of hatred, nor anger, nor greed or contempt of any degree. I care greatly for those with whom I share this land, regardless of whether or not they share in my faith, for my post in Llyria is not one centered around flamenistic values, but rather it is one that seeks to perpetuate those of a epulonistic origin.

Have I failed in this mission? Perhaps, in that I too often succumb to quick jabs and returned assuredness, quoting the dogma and scripture I know in my heart is just. Yet you see it poorly, viewing the Church of the Canon as a place of murder and wickedness based on the past actions of a few fervent souls. Be warned, and be aware, be made to understand that the wickedness painted upon the church is too often the result of those of a flamenistic ideology, for it is one that caters strongly to the men of swords and anger, those who spew statements that are not wrong, nor unjust, but merely extreme.

Your accusations of my disregard of the council are unfounded, and based on ignorance surrounding the temporary authority afforded me by the Empyrion, Ithrendas Regis. To be granted absolute power is to be made Lord Regent, a temporary post situated somewhere between the Lordly Council, and the Empyrion himself. I was under no obligation to consider the debate and opinions of what few members of the council remained until the end of the statements, and frankly, the only notable individual who remained on the dias was the Ascended Elvira, who is not a member of the Lordly Council, but rather a Scion.

I do not fear what I do not understand, merely I react to the behaviour that is presented before me, whether physical or social, caused or uttered. As such, I would seek to remind all who would read this of Hou-Xun’s own utterances, and actions, afforded the entirety of those gathered in the Maelstrom on the eve of the trial. Not once, but twice, did he state clearly that he could easily murder everyone in attendance, and then thrice claimed to be obediant to the law. A hypocrite without care, as he clearly disregarded the law by not only destroying the gate, but by threatening the lives of our citizens, visitors, and council, and as well by disregarding the direct order to remain silent, given by both myself, and the Lord Protector, multiple times.

These are the retorts I give, stated clearly and truthfully. I am not a wicked man, nor a hateful one. I did not cast out the Hou-zi, nor condemn them, but rather used the terms of my faith, clearly misconstrued as hatred far beyond what I had intended in my warning. I did not cast out Magnus, nor call for his exile. Rather, he was temporarily stripped of his knighthood, and guard post, pending a further investigation by the Empyrion and Lord Protector.

The crimes of Magnus are clear to everyone. Being wronged does not entitle one to act wickedly to a population of people. To spread fear and discord, and to wound the Lord Protector, is not a reasonable, nor a logical, response to the issues that occurred. Thus, I stand by my issued punishments.

I eagerly await a debate before the Empyrion against my challenger. GOD bless the people of Llyria.

In the Concord of Llyria
 

In accordance with recent events, I, Zhukar Ilzaantar, hereby do challenge Cassian Cardinal Omeryn for the position of Chancellor. His ignorance has shown in his rash decisions, and prefers to make others do the things he will not. This is weakness. He will see to it that the Concord itself falls apart, whether intentional or not. This man and priest has failed to support Llyria and its denizens in a manner that promotes growth and advancement, for which Llyria is built upon. He sits back and orders them to do what he is unable to, and shows pure fear towards that which he does not understand. His voice fills to the brim with desperation when he does not get his way. It is quite ironic that I, an infernal entity, would be the one needing to point out his instability. 

I have challenged him, and this is why. The Concord is a place for research, development, and growth. Cassian as shunted the very thing it stands for by openly insulting and demeaning an entire civilization of people simply because a single one of its people lashed out. Does this mean that because I, personally, have seen a human from the nations of “GOD” kill an innocent child, I should shun their entire civilization? Clearly, his decision making skills are extremely lacking. He acts without thought, which I can clearly and directly tell you, is exactly what this Concord doesn’t need. In a court room, in agreement with other councils members, was to hear their thoughts on a case and then the council was suppose to decide, as a whole, the verdict. He blatantly threw this aside, and made the verdict himself without addressing the rest of the council. He is greedy when given power, and lacks the intelligence to use it wisely. 

Cassian is a person who fears that which he does not understand. He thinks not of how his actions will effect the world around him. In a very delicate situation, he would rather lash out in a show of pure force rather than think it through with tactic and precision. He doesn’t know any better, and how could he? He is less than a half century old. While, in the Concord, we allow anyone to take up a position if they have the capacity to do so, he has failed to show that he has the capacity for it. He is too young and inexperienced. 

It is expected of a priest to follow his faith to the very center of his being, however, Cassian has allowed this to get in the way of his decision making skills. He ties his personal beliefs too far into his actions and disregards the pursuit of facts. If someone does not follow his “GOD”, he immediately sees them as lost or lesser. If he does not understand a magic, technique, or power, he automatically assumes it is demonic in nature, and that of Iblees. He couldn’t be further from the truth. This is the very definition of ignorance.

I, Zhukar Ilzaantar, will not fall to these petty bouts of ignorance. Every decision I make always has a meaning and a planned outcome. I am coordinated, tactful, and experienced. For over a century and a half, I have directed many organizations, groups, and even entire armies. It has come to my attention that our growth and advancement as a society has slowed lately. I will remedy this with a new form of transportation and organization. I observe first, and then based upon my observations, will then make a decision that promotes the growth of Llyrian society. 

Yes, I am what many would call a demon, but you need not fear me in my position as Chancellor. I have been bound in contract by Crumena himself. Breaking this contract in any way or form that harms the Llyrian Concord would surely bring my death. I have been charged to expand the growth of Llyria, and why wouldn’t I? Llyrian society has proven to be the only place in a hundred in fifty years where outsiders can exist and grow without the assured threat of destruction. In less than a decade, our nation has grown more than any other nation on Arcas. This is because our form of government is a meritocracy. This means if you have the will, the strength, the intelligence, and the capability for a position, you may challenge a person for it.

Henceforth in conclusion, I do dare call for the position of Chancellor unto myself.

It has come to the attention of the Traceless Order that red-skinned individuals have been causing chaos and abducting citizens. Such individuals have had their minds and bodies tainted by the Void, but are known to be in full possession of their mental and magical ability. The Lord Protector has authorized the imprisonment on-sight of any such individual by the Traceless Order. 

Citizens are warned not to approach such individuals. Citizens are also warned to avoid any voidal tears on their travels. If you see someone with red skin who did not already have it, report them to a member of the Traceless Order immediately. If you find yourself similarly inflicted, surrender yourself to a member of the Traceless Order immediately.

Paladins are known to be able to cure this affliction.

Be it decreed, stated openly and with confidence, that I, Cassian Colborn, do challenge Ithemar for the position of Lord Consult/Envoy. It is my firm belief that the competence of the aforementioned Elf, commonly known as Ithemar, is exceptionally lacking in all manners of governmental work. He is a failure of an Elf and a man, and a failure of a member of the Lordy Council. His work has consistently shown to be lacking and incomplete, and his multiple absences from official meetings and important events have been duly noted, most importantly the recent visitation of the Holy Orenian Empire.

My own competence has been compounded across the many years of my lengthy life, from my early military service to the Kingdom of Haense, to my later administration of the Colborn estate on the isle of Axios. Upset not by my great disappearance, my years spent wandering the wastes of the old world of Asulon, before my reappearance on the present isle of Arcas. Upon my reemergence I immediately resumed righteous service to the Republic of Ves, where I presently serve as Underclerk of Zoning, and where I served, for twelve years, as ‘First-Among-Equals’ of the Serene Assembly.

I currently serve Llyria as a Steward under the Echelon of Oversight, and as founder and current head of the Frond Society, a non-druidic conservationist organization. I have worked consistently to assist in the planning of the city’s many expansions, working especially in the department of parks and gardens. My experience dealing with folk, both common and noble, as well as those religious and royal, is extensive to such a degree that it is hardly able to be rightfully or fully elaborated.

THE DANCING DRAKE’S REMODEL

With the next stage of citywide development comes the growth and remodeling of the Dancing Drake Tavern, comes a new period of growth of kinship between Llyrians. The business in the tavern is booming, and I, your totally unbiased editor, love coming there for a stiff drink. The drinks are good, the bartenders are sweet, and you can always bet on some kind of activity when you enter the newly remodeled Dancing Drake!*

The Dancing Drake will also, around the time of this publication, gain a fresh shipment of drinks and new hot foods! Come on down to try it before anyone else!

Coming Soon: The Maelstrom

The Government doesn’t have a building, does it? Well, it will soon! The Maelstrom, the massive, planned government headquarters, will be built soon. The building contains a massive hall, meant for meetings, balls, feasts, et cetera. It also contains the main headquarters for most of the government, and housing for the Lordly Consul. Look forward to this brand new monument to Llyrian prosperity!

Llyria contains a grand amount of colorful people, so to start our weekly interviews, the Llyrian Light would first like to go into one of those folks. Joan Augusta Gallic Alabaster is one of the more energetic and open members of our little society. I had a chance to interview her one-on-one.

> “Yeah, my dad! His name is Magnus Alabaster! He’s the best.”

>”I bet. What’s the story behind the hat that you wear so often? Everyone sees you wearing it.”

>”My friend Rosey gave it to me! She was wearing it… I used to have a hat like it. Mister Arik gave me that one.”

>”Do you like it here? What are some of your favorite things to do in Llyria?”

>”Oh! I love it here in Llyria, I train with Magnus and I like to speak with all the people. I do a lot of exercising for fun.”

>”Very interesting! One final question, do you have any advice to give to the readers? In general?”

>“Don’t be un-emotional… A lot of people in this town are, and they seem sad. So be… gentle and sensitive, and you’ll be more alive!”

In celebration of the opening of The Atheneum, the staff of the library invite you to participate in a writing contest.  The winner of this contest shall have a portrait made in their honour, which shall be hung up somewhere within the building -- until another contest is hosted and a new winner is chosen!

What is expected?

- It is encouraged that the submission is about a non-fictional topic that may be useful or at least interesting to whomever reads it.

- Fictional works are still accepted; however, they will be judged more harshly than the non-fictional works.

- Whatever is submitted must be written by yourself.

- Once you’ve written a book, fill out the application format below and turn it into a staff member of the library while turning in your submission into the donation chest located beside the front desk.
