"The council of Talon's Grotto is hosting a tournament within the city in celebration of the newly crowned Sovereign! The tournament will involve both solo and team-based melee competitions with a substantial prize of 2500 minas for the victor of the solo combat tournament, a custom-crafted golden combat medal showcasing the victory, alongside 3 vouchers for weapons that are custom-forged by the renowned Ayred Avandi!

The teams for the team-based melee contests will be decided on the day of the tournament based on the number of fighters that sign up, and will include a prize of 1000 minas going to each individual of the victorious team, a custom-crafted silver combat medal showcasing the victory, alongside 1 voucher for a request for a free, custom-forged item from Ayred Avandi!

The tournament is located in the Talon's Grotto Arena, located underground at the address of Commercial Street 2! All are welcome to sign up for the tournament, citizen of Talon's Grotto or otherwise! It would be my pleasure to welcome fighters from all around Arcas to the city of Talon's Grotto!"

[!] Letters neatly sealed with the wax sigil of Talon's Grotto are sent to every citizen who owns a home within the city, and missives are posted on nearly every free wall in the Queen's Isles and beyond.

"The upcoming days will bring historic changes to the city of Talon's Grotto and the people who live within it. Power is being transferred from the 5th Sovereign of Talon's Grotto, James Avery, to the new 6th Sovereign of Talon's Grotto, Gail Cordius after Sovereign James Avery made the decision to step down from their leadership role within the city and retake a position on the Talon's Grotto Council. In celebration of this change, and of James' leadership within Talon's Grotto, there will be three Saint's Days of events within the city of Talon's Grotto, and free drinks available within the tavern from now until the end of the festivities in six Saint's Days."

Day One (November 13th, 7pm EST)

On the first day of the festivities, there will be a court session within the Talon's Grotto courthouse on the second level of the city where Council members and Stewards will speak about the city, and allow citizens to input any suggestions or criticism they may have (7pm EST). After this initial session, the crowning of the new Sovereign will begin in the same location. After both of these events are complete, there will be a tavern party located in the Alley Alehouse.

Day Two (November 14th, 2pm EST and 4pm EST)

On the second day of the festivities, there will be a fishing contest hosted at the Talon's Grotto docks, where those from the city can try their hand at catching the largest fish that the sea has to offer (2pm EST). The victor of the fishing competition will receive 1000 minas and a custom-built trident forged by renowned Talon's Grotto blacksmith, Ayred Avandi alongside a trophy showcasing their victory. After the fishing contest, the fish caught will be cooked within the Alley Alehouse, and a feast will be put on within the city square, with citizens and travelers alike invited to indulge in the freshly caught foods (4pm EST)!

Day Three (November 15th, 2pm EST)

On the third day of the festivities, there will be a tournament hosted within the Talon's Grotto arena (2pm EST)! This tournament consists of one-on-one combat within the arena, alongside team oriented combat. The victor of the one-on-one combat will receive a pot of 2500 minas, a custom-crafted medal showcasing the victory, alongside three vouchers for items to be forged by Ayred Avandi. The team oriented combat prize includes 1000 minas per each individual on the victorious team, alongside a forging voucher for each member of the victorious team, plus team combat medals that are awarded to each member on the winning team. Sign ups for the tournament will be available soon.

"This Elven Wednesday (5 PM EST), there will be a game of darts in the Talon's Grotto tavern. Come hang out with friends, or make new ones over a drink. It'll just be a wholesome game of darts, with an undetermined monetary prize to the winner!"

[!] Posters have been distributed all throughout Arcas, with an ink painting in a distinctly Asian style depicting a hundred ghosts pouring out of the Underworld, each carrying empty bowls.

It is that time of the century on the Li-Ren calendar, where the Gates of Hell have opened and the boundaries between the Other and the Living are at it’s thinnest. The air has turned colder and many households find items missing or moved around in their homes… Join us in our festivities to curb the spirits’ wrath, and their appetites! 

Activities:

Hungry, Hungry Ghosts:

There will be a designated area marked out for this activity in red wool. Do not stray beyond these boundaries as that will be counted as cheating and ALL players must remain on ground level for this game.

Two players will don spooky-looking player heads and act as the ‘Ghosts’. 

Participants will each get stacks of one type of food, eg. Participant 1 will get only bread. Participant 2 will get only carrots, and so on.

Ghosts get 10 irl seconds to get into position (no hiding, you must position yourself in a place able to be seen)

After the countdown Participants are to seek out the ghosts and pelt food at them (literally). Ghosts may run to evade participants but they are NOT allowed to sprint. Participants may sprint.

Whoever gets the most of their food into the Ghost’s combined inventories wins a custom rp item of their choosing.

Each round lasts 3 minutes irl

Spice Challenge:

Think you have what it takes to become the King of Spice? Prove your worth in the Spice Challenge.

Players line up outside the Spice stall, where they will be fed a course of spicy Li-Ren Cuisine.

Each round consists of a different dish, slowly ramping up spice levels.

Roll to see if your character can take the spice, scores will slowly add up to a total of 100. 

Players will be eliminated from rounds depending on their rolls but worry not! You can rejoin the game if you head over to the tea stalls for recovery.

Grand Writing Competition

Greetings Writers Of Arcas!

The crew members of the Talon’s Grotto Library, “Talon’s Tales and Tomes” are hosting an amazing opportunity for all people with a passion for writing: A WRITING COMPETITION! We are looking for ANY original works: Poetry, Plays, Non-Fiction, etc from any authors throughout Arcas. These works will be judged by the librarian faculty of the Talon’s Grotto library and three winners will be chosen out of the applicants. These three winners will receive many fantastic prizes! 

First place winners will be given 1500 mina and 5 diamonds.

Second place winners will be given 1000 mina.

Third place winners will be given 500 mina

If you are a writer and wish to obtain these prizes, then join the competition! When the competition comes to a close, we will publicly announce your success and you will be contacted as soon as possible with your prizes.

INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO APPLY:

To apply for this competition, simply go to the Talon’s Grotto Library and put your submission into the chest labeled “Book Donations”, which is located beside the receptionist’s desk. All original works will be automatically entered into the contest!

Talon’s Grotto Festival

Loss is no stranger to the realm of Arcas and its people. All have lost someone or many within their lifetime and the mourning process seems to be little to none. We as members of the Earth are expected to move on quickly after the loss of a loved one or friend. This festival is meant to be a way to both remember and respect those that we have lost in our lives. By retelling those stories of the lost and sending paper lanterns off into the sky to join with the stars as a grand remembrance. During the festival there will be many events held and a bar filled with drinks and treats. Those events would be those previously mentioned along with music, duels, and the many bar games. We welcome all willing to show up as long as not hostility is brought along with you.

Talons Grotto would like to formerly invite all residents of Arcas to our third tavern night. (April 24^th, 3pm EST)

We will be holding many fun games and festivities, namely some being competitive darts, a tavern brawl, and our own game, Iblees coin.

Competitve Darts:

Participants shall take turns throwing three darts at the board, highest scoring individual of the night will win a free drink of their choice from the bar.

Tavern Brawl:

The name suggests a section of the tavern has been gated off. An alleged safe place to show just how great of a fighter that drink says you are. Bets can be placed or simply just a friendly event of slamming each other with chairs. Individuals with the most wins at the end of the event shall get 250 mina and free drinks for the following elven week. (mina reward is for pvp based fights not CRP but separate areas will be available for both)

Iblees Coin:

A deceitfully difficult game in which players will take turns trying to throw Mina across the table and land a coin in each of the opponents five shot glasses. Each coin made in your glass requires you to slam the shot. If party goers are interested a tournament may be organized but otherwise this will be done on a person to person basis.

These are just a few of Talons Grotto’s events and attractions we offer. The only restriction imposed on attendance is the city will be strictly denying all weapons from entering the city. If you forget this and show up with one the town will gladly hold it for you till you leave. Else wise all are free to attend no matter race, nation, or creed.

A missive has been posted all about Arcas, detailing events of new games Talons Grotto shall be holding.

It reads as the following:

Talons Grotto shall be holding, what we like to call, a Bard Fight!

A quick explanation:

However many bards show up and attend shall play music off against each other, and see who is the best bard.

Said bards shall compete and whoever wins shall be rewarded with free drinks for the next Saints Week!

We will welcome anyone to attend and participate, and the crowd shall vote on who wins!

Secondly, we shall be having a new game, called Flyting.

This is a game where two or more poets shall send insulting verses to one another, and the crowd chooses who wins!

The reward shall be similar to that of the Bard Fight, free drinks for a Saints Week.

We once again will welcome anyone to come watch or participate!

The first time we shall be having of both of these will be on The First Seed, 1764.

Again, we invite all to attend, with special invites to our allies.
