Sarro’s Shipwreck Opening!

Come one, come all to the opening of Sarro’s Shipwreck! A small tavern located in Vanmark, there will be signs in Vanmark showing you the way. We have a wide variety of drinks and foods, we have drinks without alcohol and foods cooked with alcohol can be cooked without it. Everyone is welcomed no matter what, just don’t cause too much trouble. The tavern will be opened a month from now on Malin’s Welcome.

Directions from CT: Take the path to Sutica and once you are there follow the signs to Siramenor and go a little past it until you see a sign that says Wildlands, go down that path until you come across the fork. The path to the wildlands should be connected by a stone and lily pad bridge. Then take the path that says Vira’ker and you will get there!

The Renaming of Vira’ker

It is by the right of the prince that his principality is renamed.

What we are doing is simply asking those we have diplomatic relations, pleasant and hostile, to speak and write of us by our real name, by the name we have always used ourselves, the Princedom of Vanmark. We want to remove the anomaly of a country being known as that of Mali'ker when it is really the only state of this land that can truly call itself one of Men. This is the doing of Oren harassing us to no extent and orchestrating a defensive pact while labeling us a ‘bandit state.’ I’ve no respect for a man who’s wig is as white as his skin. Today my true colors show and damn it feels good.

Here are some of my goals in this position:

1.To improve the status and the image of Vira'ker by attempting to make trade deals and friends in other nations and city's. 

2. To use these trade deals to not only bring unique items into Vira'ker but take the unique trades of Vira'ker to all of the Arcas. 

3.  Would plan and build a new marketplace. Soo that new shops can open and sell their great products. 

4. Register all shops and take note of all new shops and get rid of old shops or shops that don't sell.

        The continued refusal for diplomatic relations to resolve the affronts to the suzerainty of the Principality of Vira’ker has rendered the continued existence of Vitenna as a direct affront to the state. It is no longer both politically nor geographically tenable for the Principality of Vira’ker to retain anything beyond hostile relations with a neighbour that refuses to interact through any diplomatic channel. 

It is from the publication of this edict that a state of war will exist between the Principality of Vira’ker and Vitenna, any Vitenna-resident national and allies who participate in the defense of Vitenna will be rendered an enemy of Vira’ker.

It is the duty of the prince to respond to aggressions to his people and there is no clearer path than a scorched earth.

A state of war will continue until the following is achieved;

High Prince Johnathus Ruk calls upon a meeting of his newly founded cabinet

Following the conclusion of Johnathus Ruk's coronation a summons was sent out, his men gathering to discuss a government reform. After much deliberation the conference came to a conclusion. A cabinet would be formed, allowing for a vote from a sumtotal of five people. It all started out very normally at a Seaguard meeting. That is to say, they hadn’t drawn swords yet, and the enlistees had been all knocked out. The regulars and the captains, panting and red-faced, were left, fists bared and ready to smack each other around. This was an average Monday for the Seaguard.

At this particular hall-fight, one of the captains shouted forth a great idea. Why not beat each other up… for money? For fame and glory, rather than for the last piece of buttered bread? Everyone agreed immediately - why not? - and then finished up their fight. It was said that Brob’s jaw never did recover from the Hall-Fight of the 20th of Sun’s Smile.

Ser Keaton II Errmark, Commander of the Seaguard, and his organiser, Sergeant J’hasa, invite the Seaguard and citizens of Vira’ker, as well as the martial class of Arcas, to partake in a bare-knuckle fighting tournament in the Grand Harvest of 1771.

For the winner? Two thousand minas (2,000)!

For their opponent? One thousand (1,000)!

And for the champion of the semi-finals, five hundred (500)!

There will be no fee for entry.

The fights will be fist-to-fist until one of the fighters falls to the floor, is knocked unconscious or surrenders. The winner shall advance to the next round and the loser disqualified, unless they have lost the semi-finals; the semi-finals’ losers will fight for third place as an under-card for the final.

Food and drink will be on sale, with free food for the participating fighters, and betting will be run by the illustrious Waldenians of the Seaguard.

“Reginaeld!” cried Keaton, the Errmark scion, with a hoarse voice. “Land ahead!”

Indeed, land was grazing the horizon. Twinkling lights refracted across the nightly waterfront, so vividly that the appearing city seemed a torch, blazing in the moonlight.

“Ay, I see it! Make for the lights!” he called out in return, and their tireless troops worked to their effect. The pinnace, slight and elegant, parted the waves and bore them on to the sighted land with complete grace. Only the clanking of plate and the steady heaving of those hearty souls broke the night’s silence.

A scant hour later did the keel strike land, and both Reginaeld and Keaton set their steel boots to sand rather than plank. Their wandering eyes regarded the glittering, glowing city before them as if they were wide-eyed children, their speech stolen by the sight of gold.

“Truly, a beauty,” spoke Keaton. “This land we have been guided to, perhaps by the grace of GOD, is beautiful. Surely, this must be our new home?” he asked Reginaeld, who had a glint in his eye.

“Naturally. In our flight, we have not found a better place to name ‘home’.” To the men - “Scuttle our ship, and raise the flag of parlay! Let us meet our new hosts graciously, let us make a good impression.” And so their company set foot on the shores of Vira Bay, and found their new home.

Their company, in the following days, negotiated their settlement. For their new homes, they would raise old swords. And so, for the defense of Vira Bay, the Seaguard was established.

The guard’s hierarchy;

The Commander of the Seaguard and the Palatine Guard; absolute leader of the Seaguard - the active military force - and the Palatine Guard - the Prince’s personal guardsmen - with their only superior being the Prince of Vira Bay themselves. Directs the troops in battle and co-ordinates politically and administratively with the Prince.

The Captain of the Fore; the Commander’s right hand. In the Commander’s presence, the Captain assists them in their leadership and supports their command; in their absence, the Captain leads the troops and directs matters of the Guard.

The Captains of the Foot and the Cavalry; the directors of the Guard’s brigades. They defer to the command of the Commander and the Fore-Captain in the use of their troops, but otherwise direct the upkeep and training of their respective brigades independently. 

The Sergeants of the Foot and the Cavalry; subordinates to the Captains of the Foot and Cavalry, these officers help to lead and maintain the brigades, conducting training in their superiors’ absence and leading patrols.

Palatine Guard; hand-picked veterans, chosen for their military aptitude and discipline. They are charged to protect the Prince wherever he goes and by any means necessary, even if it means making the ultimate sacrifice.

Veterans; an official acknowledgement of the seasoning and service of a particular troop; those elevated to the rank of veteran are noteworthy within the Seaguard and have tirelessly struggled for its betterment.

Regulars; new members of the Seaguard, who have passed induction and taken the Oath but have not yet distinguished themselves in battle or from the rest of the Seaguard. At this rank, the soldier is provided for with quarters and armaments.

Enlistee; a provisional title for those who have recently joined the Seaguard. They are yet to prove themselves with valorous deeds or to take their Oath, properly inducting them into the guard.

With following administrative roles;

Quartermaster of the Guard; in terms of both foodstuffs, clothing and armaments, it is the quartermaster’s role to fulfill the needs of the Seaguard and to ensure its efficient running.

Master of Brick and Siege; specialised in the art of military and civilian engineering, it is the master’s role to fulfill the Seaguard’s architectural needs, be they for siege or domestic purposes.

Master of the Kitchen and Cages; a renowned chef, the Kitchenmaster feeds the troops and cooks the foodstuffs for the Quartermaster to ration out. As well, in his alternate role, the Cagemaster maintains any animals held by the Seaguard for provision and supply purposes.

Master of the Flag; a clothier by trade, the Flagmaster is expected to maintain and bear the banner of the Seaguard, as well as to design and weave new standards as the guard’s needs.

Master of the Pen; for the chosen scribe of the Seaguard, who is expected to document the Seaguard’s exploits, record the Commander’s edicts and actions, and to maintain an efficient archive of both the former.

The terms of enlistment;

To be of sufficient age; that is 16 for men and thirty for other races, subject to the discretion of command.

To be a resident of Vira Bay, or in the process of immigrating.

Those inducted will be trained for the space of a saint’s week, after which they will be either accepted or denied from the Seaguard. Pending acceptance, they will be obliged to take the Oath, upon which they will become full-fledged members of the Seaguard

Enlistee’s nationality and country of origin.

Enlistee’s religion or practiced faith.

Enlistee’s occupational history.

Enlistee’s experience in the military, martial or administrative.

‘The Oath’;

“I am under oath now - as I live and speak, and as my name is ((Enlistee’s name)) - to my comrades, to my commander, to my country.  Give me a sword and shield, so I may serve to my utmost! Whatever odds fate may bestow, whatever burdens may weary my shoulders; I will cheer the flag. I will do my duty. I am under oath.”

“Far too long this country has lingered in irrelevancy. Who knows the name ‘Vira Bay’? Not the Emperor on his golden throne, nor the King-under-the-Mountain. Not even the lowest peasant farmer, toiling in the fields. It’s been too long. Now! We will raise ourselves up. Unfurl the banners and let the trumpets peal. Vira Bay? We are that dying husk no longer! We are Vira’ker! Let the world know our name!”

Reginald’s gaze fell upon the vast cityscape of the afore-named ‘Vira Bay’. He had fought for years- leading the Seaguard, roaring their commands, sharing their burdens, reaping their rewards- but the final reward was yet to come. To march his men to the capital’s top - the capital he had defended! - and to accept the prestige of the crown and the title of ‘High Prince’. Emerging triumphant from the palace, he would bask before his men with an expression of pure victory plastered across his face as he punched his fist to the air with pride. The Seaguard saluted and cheered from one side of the palace stairs while, upon the other, Nottingham - Reginald's people, his family - hollered and jeered. King John’s grace had stuck with Reginald. His watchful eye and divine hand had delivered Reginald here. The new High Prince could only smile.

The High Prince called forth his most trusted retainer, and spoke;

“Keaton II Errmark, the day has come. I offer you this item, this item which means much to me and our comrades, and ask you to wear it proudly. Show yourself to be a symbol of strength for our men. Be my Commander of the Seaguard.” Proclaiming these words as he extended the Lunar Sage of Asimu’lei’s crown to his Comrade, the flattered Keaton could do nothing but nod his assent and quietly speak his thanks, accepting the crown in both hands. He withdrew back into the teeming crowd of Seaguard soldiers, and each complimented and clapped Keaton’s back.

And then Mark Ezelsteen was called forth, and the aged man beamed proudly and honestly as he was raised to Forecaptain, assuming the vacant rank of his superior with pride. The Captain, Günther, was similarly praised and congratulated, and his service was recognised but his rank remained. Further appointments were made to the new Crown Court, and the city of Vira’ker revelled in its newfound rule.

Then Keaton was allowed to speak before the assembly of the coming reign of the High Prince. “Though all power is now vested within our new Prince, we have yet to legitimise him, to inaugurate his rise and to celebrate officially this new age for Vira’ker! A coronation must be held at once.”

Preparations were made at once. Envoys were dispatched, their messages gracefully penned, and the city of Vira’ker rose in good fortunes.
