Between the dark of bleak woodlands, there lies creatures unknown. Terrifying beasts lurk in the quiet of the wild, from dawn to dusk. Continuing to torment and feast upon the unexpected traveller, the lost merchants, and the innocent who wander into the vast green.

The House of Rivers, founded by Estrid sigvardson built off the failures of the previous settlement redloga, now known as nordvegr. composed of a single woman and her child Katla Rivers, were granted the title of vavasor's of petra after the late settlement was accused of high treason, They now dedicate themselves to ridding the commonwealth of the darkspawn and criminal scum that plauge it

The extravagance of a military House's long ladder of ranks seems rather out of place in the world. Every member of the House is expected to have the same high set of skills as any other. Naturally, some men take to certain tasks better than others, and if a mission calls for a particular man’s expertise, the Leader will designate them to lead it. But which skills will be most essential depends on the task at hand. The best man for one assignment may be the worst man for another. Thus, such as the Riverguard , the House free themselves from the shackles of titular bureaucracy and can award commands based on merit and the demands of their current objectives.

Seeker

New recruits to the house are known as Seekers, signifying their status as travellers on a sacred quest. Every Seeker undergoes rigorous mental and physical training beside a class of fellows. Together, they learn to live off the land, to track men and beasts by the prints they leave behind, to read the sky, and to master weapons of choice

Guardian
Once a Seeker is granted the title of Guardian and has been found worthy to be introduced fully into the house, they are given the same responsibilities and privileges carried by all fully initiated members. As a Guardian, it is required to uphold the Eight oaths, perform any missions assigned by their Seniors, and be a model of virtue for others. They have unrestricted access to all the Houses' resources and knowledge and can be delegated to lead missions by the Leader. 

~THE SEVEN OATHS~

In the final stage of a Page's training as much one to apprentice of the Grandmaster, the House assembles the entire class in a secret grove. At midnight, the first words that they speak of when assembled are the words of the seven oaths, transcribed below:

RECRUITMENT
 

Admission to the House is open to any who seek it. But be warned- the life of a a rivers is not for the faint of heart. For all of our poetic talk about the pleasures of a simple life, the rewards of self-sufficiency, and the boundless wonder of Creation- through true- does not tell the full story. If you would join our ranks, you will spend countless months of your short life lost and far from home, with only a faded map, the stars, and your wits to bring you safely back. You will spend many hours with a parched throat, desperately searching for a mountain brook from which to drink- and spend many more lying feverish on a grubby cot, waiting for the parasites you have swallowed to be washed out of your system. You will spend many cold and sleepless nights listening to the distant howls of wolves, wondering if you will live to see the dawn. But the house can promise you this: you will never be left to face these challenges alone. You will need only look across the dying embers of your campfire to see your fellow Seekers and Guardians, bows and swords in hand and eyes alight, ready to lay down their lives on your behalf. And in the innermost depths of your heart, you will know beyond a doubt that you would do the same for them.

Concerning the REDCLYFIAN TREATY OF VALFLEUR of 1922 and the ACTIVATION OF ARTICLE VI

For over a decade, the people of Redclyf have served the Commonwealth with distinction. Unfortunately, the recurrence of disputes between the Sovereign of our Commonwealth and the Vavasour of Redloga have necessitated a thorough review of our relationship.

The causes which have compelled us to do so are many. These include:

-THE ANTAGONIZATION OF THE COMMONWEALTH’S NEIGHBORS

-THE FAILURE BY THE HOUSE OF MOSU TO PAY LEGAL RESTITUTION AS SO ORDERED IN A COURT OF LAW

-A LACK OF DIRECT FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTION TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF COMMONWEALTH LANDS

-A GENERAL UNWILLINGNESS BY THE VAVASOUR TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE GREATER COMMONWEALTH

-REPEATED INSTANCES OF DISRESPECT SHOWN TOWARD THE SOVEREIGN, HER COUNSELORS, AND CITIZENS OF THE COMMONWEALTH

-DISREGARD FOR THE SOVEREIGN’S AUTHORITY AS LIEGE

It therefore seems clear by these actions that the Vavasour of Redloga has no intention of honoring the Redclyfian Treaty of Valfleur of 1922 in the long term, nor in good faith. We have been tolerant and have striven to bridge this divide on several occasions, yet our efforts to do so have come to no avail.

As such, it is with the utmost regret that we must trigger Article VI of the Redclyfian Treaty of Valfleur. The title of the Vavasoury of Redloga is thusly returned to the Crown of St. Emma and all promises of land and legal obligations held by the Commonwealth to the former Vavasour under that treaty are to be rescinded. Regardless, we promised that we would part ways peacefully should our relationship sour, and that promise shall be kept.

However, in recognition of the exemplary loyalty and service of so many of the Redclyfian people, including the newly christened Vavasour of the Rivers and others, the Sovereign does extend to all citizens and families of Redclyf who wish to remain a part of the Commonwealth the opportunity to do so in the spirit of Article VII of that same treaty without any change. We urge those who have not already expressed their wish to remain and hold such intentions to petition the Sovereign as such.

The Bjornfjall Contract of Thegnhood

This Feudal Contract is to be considered legally binding as of

 10th of The Grand Harvest, Year 133 of the Second Age

By the authority invested in the Grand Prince of Nordvegr, the following is hereby proclaimed;

Terms

1. The Grand Principality of Nordvegr hereby grants to House Sigvardson a Thanedom, The fief shall be recognized as the Thanedom of Bjornfjall and shall be ruled by the Thane, or Lord, of Bjornfjall. This title is herein granted to Sigmund Sigvardson.

2. The Grand Principality of Nordvegr holds sovereignty over the entirety of Bjornfjall, but grants permanent claim and rights of rulership of the land to House Sigvardson.

3. The rulership of the Thanedom of Bjornfjall is hereby named the ancestral right of House Sigvardson, by the Grace of the Grand Prince.

4. The Thane of Bjornfjall shall swear fealty and owe allegiance to the Grand Prince of Nordvegr, in return for these rights and privileges granted.

5. Upon the succession of a Thane of Bjornfjall, or Grand Prince of Nordvegr, an oath of allegiance to the Grand Prince  is expected to be made by the Thane of Bjornfjall, and an oath to maintain the rights of the Lord by the Grand Prince. If the Thane refuses, it shall be lawful cause for execution. If the Grand Prince refuses, it shall be considered and lawfully recognized as an act of Tyranny.

Rights granted by the Grand Principality to the Thanedom

1. The House Sigvardson is hereby granted the right to freely practice their religion of choice, without interference or attempt to convert for aslong as they abide by the laws regarding Religion in Nordvegr.

2. The House Sigvardson is hereby granted the right to call their own banners and levies, up to the amount of one-thousand men. These men shall fall under the military of Nordvegr.

3. The House Sigvardson is hereby granted all rights in regards to succession of Bjornfjall, and shall not be in any way impeded by the Grand Prince, or any elements outside of House Sigvardson. If no prior decree on succession is made by the time of the Lord’s death, the default shall be male-preference primogeniture.

4. The House Sigvardson is hereby granted the right to administer their own lands, and to maintain their own Judicial system. The Lordship of Bjornfjall shall not trial anyone whom did not break the Law on Bjornfjall territory, nor trial anyone whom has committed treason against the Grand Prince.

5. The Lord of Bjornfjall shall be granted the right to petition the Grand Prince, as well as a voice on any representative body of Nordvegr.

The Grand Principality demands the following;

1. That no attempts to usurp the Grand Prince of Nordvegr shall be made.

2. Taxation to be paid to the state of Nordvegr, as determined by lawful decree.

3. Complete and unhesitant aid in any armed conflicts, internal or external.

4. The uttermost support of the Grand Prince of Nordvegr in any open hostilities with foreign or internal elements.

5. When requested, House Sigurdson will support the Jomschyfians division of the Nordvegr by providing support for its military training and operations, rallying when called upon.

6. Bjornfjall will remain governed by nordvegr law., In the event that the laws of the thanedom of Bjornfjall conflict with those of the nordvegr, a separate agreement may be reached.
