The Creation Of Oti
 

At the beginning of time, after the creation of all, there were the first three Gods of Rah’mun history, the first being Ka’tau, the Mother and Creator of All, the second being the firstborn of Ka’tau, Ra’tuhmet, the Bringer of the Sun, and the third being Kalthet, the slayer of isfet. Ka’tau breathed life into the void and shaped the heavens with her own essence. She represented both the beginning and the end, the giver of light and the bearer of shadows, nurturing the land in both chaos and order. 

Ra’tuhmet, her eldest, was a radiant force whose domain was the fierce, burning sun. He blazed across the skies, illuminating the land below with his brilliance; Under his radiance, life flourished, but his relentless heat also brought destruction. His piercing gaze was often too intense for even the strongest creatures to endure. While Ra’tuhmet promoted growth, his searing light could just as easily lead to ruin.

Recognising the imbalance in her son’s creation, Ka’tau understood that the land needed more than just the harsh blaze of the sun. From the cool glow of stardust and the gentle currents of moonlight, she conceived a second child to balance Ra’tuhmet’s fiery presence. This child, named Oti, drew his essence from the softer light of the heavens.

Titled “the Lord of Eternal Moonlight”, Oti was born beneath the gentle arch of Ka’tau’s hands, his first breath igniting the soothing glow of the moon. Unlike Ra’tuhmet, Oti’s light did not burn; it embraced. His silver glow brought calmness to the land, signifying a time for peace, reflection, and rest. His presence marked the passage of time, with his phases reflecting the cycle of life itself—from waxing birth to waning death, only to rise anew.

As Oti matured, he became the Pathfinder in the Dark, the Clarifier, and the Beacon of Truth Amid Night. While his elder brother's domain offered clarity through force, Oti’s truth emerged from a subtler understanding, guiding souls through their inner darkness. His light shone upon mysteries not by overwhelming them, but by revealing the answers hidden within the shadows. Under Oti's glow, the land found rejuvenation and wisdom, for he dispelled both physical darkness and the obscurity clouding minds and spirits.

Together, Ra’tuhmet and Oti formed the eternal balance of Ka’tau, the Sun and the Moon, day and night. Where Ra’tuhmet scorched, Oti soothed. Where Ra’tuhmet propelled the land forward with fire, Oti drew it back with calm reflection. In harmony, they ensured that the land was neither consumed by endless light nor swallowed by eternal darkness.

The Priesthood Of Oti

The creation of Lord Oti’s priesthood arose not from grandeur, but from necessity. Long after the Lord of Eternal Moonlight had embraced his role as the guardian of the night, the Rah’mun people began to realise the profound need for his presence beyond the celestial order. While Ra’tuhmet’s fiery priests ensured that the light of the sun was honoured, it was the mysteries of the night—the quiet, unseen dangers, and the unknown—that required a devoted watchful eye. Thus, Oti’s priesthood was established.

Over the centuries, the responsibilities of Oti’s priesthood expanded, and they became the sacred guardians of the night, tasked with maintaining the delicate balance that Oti represented. Their roles encompassed both spiritual and practical duties:

Protectors of the Night

The priests of Oti were primarily protectors, called upon to guard against the unseen dangers that lurk in darkness. They were trained to understand the creatures of the night, sense disturbances in the natural order, and drive away evils that prey upon the vulnerable during Oti’s time. This often involved the use of protective wards, chants, and sacred rituals designed to dispel dark forces—whether malevolent spirits, curses, or creatures.

Healers of the Mind and Spirit

Oti’s priests specialised in healing the mind and spirit. They were often summoned to assist those suffering from nightmares, madness, or anxieties that arose with the setting sun. With the soothing power of the moon and the clarity Oti provided, these priests could dispel fears, bring rest, and restore balance to troubled souls. Their presence was frequently sought in times of grief, loss, and emotional turmoil.

Keepers of the Tides and Cycles

Oti’s association with time and cycles extended into the mortal realm. His priests were responsible for marking the phases of the moon, the ebb and flow of the tides, and the passing of seasons. They recorded the passage of time and were often consulted for their understanding of natural cycles. Farmers, sailors, and scholars alike would seek guidance from the priests on when to plant when to set sail, or when important events should take place, all based on the wisdom gleaned from Oti’s patterns.

Guides of the Lost

The priests of Oti were often referred to as “Pathfinders,” not only because of their ability to find physical paths in the dark but also because of their role in helping others navigate spiritual and emotional journeys. They were called upon to provide counsel for those who felt lost in life—those confused by complex problems, difficult decisions, or troubled by mysteries too deep to unravel. The priests acted as mediators, bringing clarity and light to even the most intricate issues.

The Eternal Eclipse

All peace is eventually threatened by chaos, even among the gods. As the centuries passed, Oti began to notice the disparity in the worship he received compared to that of his older brother, Ra’tuhmet. While both gods were revered by the Rah’mun people, Ra’tuhmet’s temples were grander, his celebrations more joyous, and his name more often praised. Daylight was seen as essential; under its warmth, life thrived. In contrast, Oti’s night was quiet, his light soothing but often overshadowed by the brilliance of his brother's sun. The Rah’mun people did not celebrate the night in the same way; Oti’s offerings were fewer, and his praise softer. What began as a quiet observation festered into jealousy.

Feeling increasingly overlooked, Oti began to question why his domain always seemed secondary to his brother’s. The night was equally important to the cycle of life, providing rest and rejuvenation, yet it never received the same adoration. This imbalance weighed heavily on Oti’s spirit, transforming his contentment into envy. He felt his role deserved more recognition and respect. Over time, this desire for equality twisted into something darker—a longing not just for balance but for dominance.

As Oti’s resentment deepened, so did his ambition. He convinced himself that if the sun were blotted out, the land would have to rely on the night and his moonlight to survive. The Rah’mun people would have no choice but to worship him, and his power would finally overshadow Ra’tuhmet’s. Thus, Oti devised a plan: he would cast an eternal eclipse, plunging the land into everlasting night. The moon would block the sun indefinitely, and with Ra’tuhmet’s light extinguished, Oti would rule supreme.

Using his dominion over the night, Oti called upon the deepest shadows and ancient mysteries hidden in the farthest reaches of the cosmos, preparing to bring the moon into permanent alignment with the sun. On the day of the celestial conjunction, when the moon and sun drew closest in their orbits, Oti enacted his plan. The sky darkened as the moon moved to cover the sun, and soon an unnatural twilight spread across the land. The Rah’mun people, terrified and confused, watched as day turned to night, and a cold stillness settled over the land.

With the sun's warmth fading and the land plunged into darkness, Oti believed his victory was at hand. Ra’tuhmet’s once-powerful light was now obscured, and the Rah’mun people had nowhere to turn but to the moon. However, Oti’s triumph was short-lived.

Ka’tau sensed the disruption in the heavens. She had watched her son’s growing jealousy with sorrow, hoping Oti would realise the value of his role and maintain the balance. But now, with the land in jeopardy, she could no longer remain silent. Ka’tau descended from her domain and confronted Oti, intervening before he could complete his plot and extinguish the sun entirely.

In her infinite wisdom, Ka’tau understood that Oti’s desire for recognition had driven him to act out of envy instead of love for his domain. He sought to control the land, not through the natural cycles she had created, but by imposing his will and disrupting the balance. With a heavy heart, Ka’tau revoked the eclipse, restoring the sun’s light and breaking the authority Oti had usurped. The moon retreated from its place before the sun, and Ra’tuhmet’s radiance returned, bright and full.

Ka’tau, disappointed, could not let Oti’s actions go unpunished. His betrayal of the natural order could not be ignored. In her judgement, she stripped Oti of his godhood, sealing him away in his domain. His name would no longer be spoken in reverence but would instead be associated with fear. The Rah’mun people would remember his attempt to bring about eternal night, and the rare occurrence of an eclipse would be seen as a bad omen—a reminder of his failed rebellion.

Oti’s punishment was severe. He was cast out, no longer counted among the gods, his power diminished, and his light was perceived as a threat rather than a comfort. His priesthood scattered, and the few who remained loyal to him were viewed with suspicion and dread. Oti’s once-revered moonlight, which had brought peace and clarity, now served as a warning of the dangers of unchecked ambition and he became a tale passed down through the ages to teach the Rah’mun people the perils of envy and the consequences of seeking power without balance. The eternal eclipse he had sought would never come to pass, but the memory of his ambition would linger forever, a dark shadow cast over his once-bright legacy.

The Return Of Oti

Time moved on, and with it, the memory of Oti, the fallen god of moonlight, faded into obscurity. His once-glorious priesthood crumbled into dust, and the balance between day and night, which had once defined the order of Ka’tau, shifted entirely in favour of Ra’tuhmet. The people basked in the warmth of daylight, while the night, once a sacred time for reflection and wisdom, became something to be feared. Darkness no longer offered the comfort of Oti’s quiet protection; instead, it was seen as an empty void.

Pharaoh Atemu’ta, a ruler both wise and devout, knew of Oti’s exile and downfall. He had studied the old stories, tracing the moment when the god was cast out of the heavens. He believed the Rah’mun people had suffered in subtle yet profound ways due to Oti’s absence. The peace of the night was replaced by unease, and the natural rhythm of life felt incomplete. The pharaoh understood that if harmony were to be restored to the land, the Lord of Eternal Moonlight must return.

Determined, Pharaoh Atemu’ta set out to uncover any remaining remnants of Oti’s priesthood. The search was long, and many believed it would yield nothing. Oti’s name was scarcely spoken anymore, and those who had once followed him had long since disappeared. However, Atemu’ta’s persistence led him to find a lone man. The elder was aged, his face lined with years of wisdom and sorrow. His eyes, clouded with blindness, spoke of a long-lost sight.

When Atemu’ta questioned the old man about his condition, the elder explained with quiet certainty that his blindness was not a burden but a gift. It allowed him to see beyond the physical world and into the realm of Lord Oti. With Oti’s downfall, the few who had remained loyal to him were required to give up a sense or function of their body as a sacrifice to maintain a connection to the outcasted god. This, the elder said, was their punishment for following a banished deity, yet it also served as a testament to their devotion. By surrendering a part of themselves, they demonstrated their undying loyalty to Oti, even as the rest of the Rah’mun people turned their backs on him.

Though the elder was wise and deeply attuned to the moon god’s will, he refused Pharaoh Atemu’ta’s offer to restore Oti’s priesthood. He spoke of destiny, explaining that it was not his place to rebuild what had been lost. Instead, he foretold that a much younger man, one bearing qualities similar to Oti himself, would rise to fulfil that role. The elder assured Atemu’ta that this man would find his way to him when the time was right. However, the elder also delivered a warning: the next high priest of Lord Oti would be so deeply connected to the god in every aspect that he would embody both the good and darker parts of Oti’s nature. The pharaoh would need to ensure that history did not repeat itself, as Oti’s fall had stemmed from unchecked ambition and jealousy, qualities that could once again lead to disaster if left unchecked.

With a heavy heart, Atemu’ta left the elder, burdened by both hope and caution. He understood the gravity of what lay ahead—the restoration of Oti’s priesthood could bring balance to the night and restore the peace once found under the moon’s glow. Yet, it also held the potential for great danger if not handled wisely. As the moon rose that night, brighter than it had been in many years, Atemu’ta gazed upon it, resolved to navigate the path ahead and return Lord Oti to his rightful place in Rah’mun culture. He knew that restoring the god’s glory was not just an act of devotion but a delicate task requiring vigilance, lest the land once again fall into the shadows of a broken god’s ambition.

The March of Purity Continues

[!] An ethereal sight lies in wait deep within the swamps. Just over the river strewn with mighty Ankh crosses that glow with spiritual synergies that face another shrine of spiritual power, a less boisterous sight rests. A shrine crafted in the image of a cow woman, bearing mighty jewels and quartz upon it’s form, pours forth a waterfall of clear waters into a pool below. Soft echoes of old blah resound within [8] meters around the shrine, demonstrating its connection to a domain beyond this world…

Upon closer inspection of the shrine, several Ankh crosses and Old Blah inscriptions are seen etched into its form. The only Common phrase upon the shrine is  “HESTHOR, GODDESS OF PURE WATERS.”

These shrines, whatever their purpose, clearly were becoming more numerous within the swamplands. And that spells a bad omen for the dark forces of Isfet.

The Coming of Purity

[!] In the far southwestern reaches of Braevos lies a rotting swamp, brimming with decayed flora and brillant Fauna of all sorts. Occult sites, strange villages, a Voidal heath and other abominations stain the land, giving quarter to the various forces of darkness to operate isolated in the backwater biome. 

But just beyond the mountain reaches of Koyo-Kuni where Rah’tuma sits looking over the swamps lies a different scene. A small patch of land was wrested from the decay of the swamp and converted into a domain of pure white sands. In the middle of the land rests a spiritually created Oasis, upon which sits a quartz shrine to the great spirit Hesthor. The shrine is scrawled over with Rah’mun hieroglyphics and various Old Blah devotions to the great Purifier. Echoes of Old Blah musings directly from the spirit realm surround the blessed sight, further adding to its extravagence.

The quartz pillars of the shrine have small murals upon them, depicting a prophecy of silver-white river washing into Aevos, drowning numerous impure forces such as Dragons, necromancers, demons, foul sorcerers, all depicted in Rah’mun style.

The shrine itself faces another holy sight: a set of four Ankh crosses, representing the Rah’mun faith’s view of life, sit upon the formerly dirtied river, gleaming with jewels and natural light. The waters themselves, formerly dirtied by the decay of the swamps, brim with natural purity, blue and sparkling, not an inch of filth to be found.

The entire area gleams with an otherworldly quality, holding both a promise and a vision of the kind of world that is possible: one free from the machinations of Isfet (darkspawn), disease, sickness, or foul practices where the world bows to will of the Spirits.

That world, prophesied in mighty Rah’mun canons, was dawning now in the most unlikeliest places. Nothing would stop it.

The coming of the Great River is certain.

Leh-iy, my people of Rah’tuma and the wider continent of Braevos! I write this missive to humbly announce that the statue dedicated to LORD RA’TUHMET OF ETERNAL SUNLIGHT has been fully restored to its completion!

My labors have cost me one Rah’mun Year of my life, but it is worth the cost to see LORD RA’S TRUE Light return upon our world after decades the False Sun corrupted the heavens above. My fellow Netjer and I wish to hold a festival in honor of LORD RA’TUHMET’s brilliant return to the Material Plane!

In which I bring upon the continuation of recruitment into the Netjer of RA’TUHMET for if we are to return the TRUE LIGHT upon the world again, I must bring numerous more faithful under my wing in order to do so.

MARCH UPON THE SWAMP

[!] A notice is distributed across Aevos by Rah’mun couriers with specific emphasis on notifying heroes, adventurers, travelers, worshipers of the Spirits, and other such groups. The missive is marked with a golden seal of the Pharaoh. Upon opening it the following is seen…

Leh-iy to all denizens of Braevos,

For too long the forces of Isfet - known by many names, such as Frost Witches, Infernalists, necromancers, enemies of the Gods by every measure - have marched unimpeded across these Braevosian lands, reigning in terror with very few checks. The light of the False Sun was enough to keep other Isfetians at bay, but that light has been shattered, as all heretic light shall.

The only answer to the evil of the present is the Great River of eternity. Rah’tuma has heard directly from Lady HESTHOR, our Goddess of Purity, herself: the Great River that flows from her blessed throne and enters the world to wash away the filth that defies KA’TAU is our solution. She has determined that her River shall enter Braevos through its westernmost swamps.

The wisdom of her edict is clear: the swamps were once home to the fallen Isfetian Iket, known to others as ‘Gashadokuro,’ whose memory stains the lands of the West in the ruins of the Hexicanium. The priesthood of HESTHOR conducted several missions to destroy Iket’s shrines and purify the defiled lands around them, and then consecrate those grounds to the Bovine Mother’s glory. 

There is reason to believe that many Isfetians still operate within the swamps, with their crimes against KA’TAU persisting in impunity. Impurity in one section of the world inevitably makes the rest of the world sick; this shall not stand.

As we purged Iket’s presence from the swamp with the authority of HESTHOR then, we shall do the same now, and expand until every Isfetian is driven from every crack, crevice, and hidden spot in those marshlands. Every inch of the swamps shall become an extension of HESTHOR’s domain, and act as a gateway for the Great River to flow mightily into the world and wash away the Spawn of Isfet. May Kalthet guide us to victory over all enemies.

PHARAOH NASERET 

The first Pharaoh, spoken of in the Book of Creation. Naseret was half elf and half human, and fought the armies of Kazul with the power of Hesthor and led the earliest Rah'muns into a golden age of prosperity and influence, expanding what was once a village into a large and bustling kingdom. He owned a flaming staff, and it became iconic, often symbolic of him.

PHARAOH KHEPERKARE

The second Pharaoh of Rah’tuma and known as the “Sun’s Mighty Hand;” he was human and established the first solar observatory along the Hakan river, aligning temples to celestial events. His reign marked a golden age of astronomy, where priests could predict eclipses and solstices with remarkable accuracy.

PHARAOH NAKU 

Crowned as the third [3rd] Pharaoh of Rah’tuma, he was celebrated as the wealthiest ruler for his vast trade networks that brought diamonds and lapis lazuli to Kemet-Taw as well as emeralds and gold. His reign saw the construction of the grandest ships, which sailed beyond the seas and returned with tales of distant lands.

PHARAOH DJEDEFPTAH

A warrior king, he expanded borders to their furthest extent, subduing rebellions and establishing fortresses deep in Kemet-Taw. His military campaigns were recorded on the walls of Pyramids, depicting his triumphs over enemies. It has been documented that he had never lost a battle, and always lead Rah'mun armies into victory. Djedefptah's conquests led to more land being taken over and increasing the size of the Rah'mun Kingdom.

PHARAOH ATENHOTEP

He was known as the “Builder of Horizons'' for his architectural innovations. Under his rule, the first obelisks were erected, pointing like sunbeams towards the heavens. His mortuary complex included a labyrinthine garden that mimicked the journey of the afterlife.

PHARAOH NEFERKARE

He established a network of healing temples staffed by priest-physicians. His understanding of medicine led to the creation of comprehensive teachings on healing practices that would influence generations. 

PHARAOH RAMSES-RA

Rah’tuma’s seventh [7th] Pharaoh and known for his cruelty and strictness, he would punish individuals without mercy and often showed great aggression and wrath towards his enemies. He became so feared he received the name “The Rage of Ra”. Ramses-Ra ordered the construction of the first temple of Kalthet, and had a giant statue of Tetu built.

PHARAOH AKEMEN-TA

Known for his mercy, peace, and frequent practices of meditation. He established peace treaties and alliances, and played a role in constructing the Pyramid of Ra, which was the largest Pyramid in all of Kemet-Taw. On some occasions he denied enemies mercy, and on others he gave them mercy. He led the Rah’muns towards having fifty years of peace, no battles nor any kind of war or conflict.

PHARAOH MERENKAHRE

The one and only son of Akemen-Ta, Merenkahre is believed to have been the founder of the Cult of Ra'tuhmet. He was the first to discover the existence of secretive groups of dark magicians throughout Kemet-Taw who worshiped Keop and outlawed them. His military reign was undefeated, and is one of several undefeated military reigns in Rah'mun history. Merenkahre was human like his father Akemen-Ta, and he ascended to the throne as Rah’tuma’s ninth [9th] Pharaoh after Akemen-Ta died of old age.

PHARAOH MUTANKHTUMET

During his reign he focused on establishing trade routes and maintaining the trade networks built by the Pharaoh Naku, and battled the dark magicians of Keop who had increased in numbers and formed a cult known as the “Cult of Keop”. Mutankhtumet was a human known to have been worried about humanity mainly populating the Rah'mun Kingdom, and became successful in helping elven populations rise.

PHARAOH KHAMUNRA

The first fully-elven Pharoah, he captured one hundred cities during his reign and sought to end the increasing worship of forbidden gods, outlawing their worship. He conquered smaller empires and kingdoms and assimilated them into the Rah’mun Kingdom, as well as expanding the size and trade network of the Kingdom and led campaigns into territories of resistance groups. Khamunra embarked on ambitious projects throughout the Kingdom and was renowned for his architectural innovations, temple construction, and restoration. During the battle that would be his last, he took a devastating, mortal injury to the gut and, upon his deathbed, named his Vizier, Musa, as the twelfth [12th] Pharaoh of Rah’tuma.

PHARAOH MUSA 

He was the first Pharaoh to ascend to the throne while being an elderly human, causing his reign to be quite short. He placed Ra'tuhmet as the central deity, and ordered the first temple of Te'uth to be built. During his short reign of eleven years, Musa undid some damage caused by societal and cultural shifts and reforms, returning most of the Kingdom back to polytheism and put an end to the increasing trend of monotheistic worship of the Goddess Hesthor.

PHARAOH TAI-HOTEP

He is believed to have invented the Shadoof, and is thought to have been mostly devoted to the god Ku-Tai. During his reign, he ordered the first temple of Ku-Tai to be constructed and was said to have had a leg deformity which resulted in him always walking with a cane. Tai-Hotep had a great love for the arts and often spent time thinking of inventions, but none became successful except for the Shadoof, though he was renowned for his artistic talent and his paintings. He eventually created a game that consists of simply rolling a ball at a set of stationary objects at some specified distance.

PHARAOH ANKHMUNRA

Inspired by the creative mind of Pharaoh Tai-Hotep and the works of Pharaoh Kheperkare, Ankhmunra orded some Rah'mun workers to create the Rah'mun Calendar. His reign saw the introduction of mathematics to the Rah’mun Kingdom, and the invention of air conditioning after experiencing personal trouble with strong heat that had come upon the Kingdom during his reign. The air conditioning consisted of reeds being hung in windows and were moistened with trickling water, and the evaporation of water had cooled the air blowing through the window which also made the air slightly more humid. His Vizier, Ku-Ankhmet, eventually utilized this invention and it became public, leading to many citizens using it.

PHARAOH ANKHHOTEP

He established the Medjay, an elite paramilitary police force and brought gymnastics to the Kingdom. The Rah’mun Kingdom and the Nabian Empire went to war during his reign, resulting in many casualties. He led an army of five Rah’mun divisions into Nabian territory on the Al-Tah Mountains in Kemet-Taw and set up camp there, where he then commanded his forces to scout the terrain and set Nabian camps ablaze, and from there he ordered one of his divisions to raid the Nabian Empire's capital city as his other divisions attacked the Empire from different angles and corners, eventually winning the war. 

PHARAOH AZIQNEK

He was a skilled combatant renowned for conquering the Nabian Empire and turning it into part of the Rah'mun Kingdom. During his reign he defeated rebel Nabians and went to war with the Cults of Keop that had evolved into one cult known simply as the Order of Keop, and they had built a large castle which Aziqnek led five incursions against, and eventually had Rah'mun forces destroy it. Aziqnek also put down multiple uprisings in Te-Net but failed to conquer it after his conquests were unsuccessful. 

PHARAOH TETH-HOTEP

He was behind the construction of the Great Pyramid of Ra, and went to war with the Kingdom of Te-Net. Unlike Aziqnek, Teth-Hotep was successful in capturing the Kingdom and expanding the Rah'mun Kingdom into Te-Net. He led his forces into the most notable, if not one of the most notable, wars of Rah'mun Antiquity which was the War of Tahat that was fought in a valley called Tahat. Although, the Rah’mun Kingdom won the war, Teth-Hotep died in battle and his Vizier, Tes-Batat, ascended to the Pharaonic throne as Teth-Hotep bared no heir. 

PHARAOH TES-BATAT

He put in place the use of a postal system which was a state-sponsored and designated courier service for the dissemination of written documents, allowing him and the following Pharaohs to send out decrees swiftly throughout the Kingdom. 

PHARAOH KHEMU

Khemu established the first significant naval presence for the Rah’mun empire. His reign also saw the diversification of the Machimoi (warrior) class from merely a fighting force to a “peace force” as well. Khemu often mediated disputes between neighboring civilizations and dispatched Machimoi to prevent broader conflicts that threatened the safety of Kemet-Taw. 

PHARAOH TEN-AMEN

Ten-Amen, or the “Wrath of Amaunet,” dealt with numerous Isfetian uprisings in the Rah’mun territories that formerly constituted Te-Net. Ten-Amen was responsible for quelling threats to Rah’mun dominion in the Tehat Valley and ultimately contended with a cult of Necromancers and Keopian warriors who raised the body of Teth-Hotep to fight for their wicked cause. Ten-Amen avoided Teth-Hotep’s fate and defeated the insurgents - and the animated, mummified form of Teth-Hotep - by conducting a ritual of wrath devoted to Amaunet. A debilitating force struck down the Isfetian forces and caused the animated mummy to crumble. This event reinforced the importance of Amaunet to the Rah’mun peoples and earned Ten-Amen legendary status.

PHARAOH BAYEK

Bayek is known as the “Pride of Tetu” for being the first Pharaoh to write an entire manual on military defense of the homeland and various stratagems. With his reign came renewed interest in the Goddess Kalthet, and the construction of a new temple-barracks combination devoted entirely to her. His reign also saw a similar explosion of interest in navigational mapping and other activities that fit the genre of a strategist. 

PHARAOH AANEKHTOU

The youngest Pharaoh, having risen to the throne at the age of nineteen [19]. Aanekhtou's inexperience in leading led him to studying Rah'mun history and how the Pharaohs before him led as well as their accomplishments, and he acquired several victories in conquests and battles. The fact that he claimed the throne without much experience in leading and at that age was quite controversial among people at the time of his reign but the controversy eventually died down as years passed and he aged. On his deathbed he would crown his adopted Elven son, Shafra, as Rah’tuma’s twenty-third [23] Pharaoh.

PHARAOH SHAFRA 

Shafra is credited with creating the Rah’mun art of stick-fighting called Khatib, where both participants use a stick called Nab-sa and learn different techniques on how to fight with it. Other than this singular achievement Shafra’s reign was largely inconsequential. 

PHARAOH MEDUNAMUN

Known as the “Son of Ka’tau” and “Bringer of Ra’s Wrath,” Medunamun is one of the most popular Elven Pharaohs in Rah’tuma’s history. Medunamun is credited with resurrecting the “Flaming Eye” of Ra from ancient obscurity and causing a “Flaming Eye” sect of the Cult of the Ra’tuhmet to spring up. Medunamun is credited with having spoiled several rebellions within Rah’mun civilization by bringing forth their leaders to the realm of Ka’tau himself. He also oversaw the construction of the largest shrine of the Ra’tuhmet, called Net-ja-Sha, or the Flaming Eye’s Judgment; which was a mobile, towering figurine of Ra vested with spiritual powers, capable of bringing judgment upon the enemies of Rah’tuma in combat. He used this machine to conquer the outer reaches of Kemet-Taw which had flourished under Keopian control since his vanquishment at the hand of Ra. His reign is documented extensively in the Rah’mun canons for its legendary implications. 

PHARAOH AKHENATON 

Akhenaton largely built on the successes of Mendunamun and established trading posts in the conquered Outer Reaches of Kemet-Taw. He also oversaw the expansion of the Hesthor priesthood into several villages in the civilization. His reign was uneventful other than these few facts. 

PHARAOH IB-HOTEP

Known as the “Pharaoh of Dreams,” or the “Dreaming King,” Ib-Hotep introduced Rah’tuma to the God of Dreaming and Wonders and established a temple to him in the capital city of the Kingdom. Dream Priests became revered and honored within Rah’mun civilization, as they were believed to be able to interpret the future and peer into the domain of the Gods with regularity. Ib-Hotep allegedly received several visitations from the Gods Ra, Hesthor, and Amaunet in his dreams, along with the God of Dreaming. He recorded all of these interactions in the legendary Hem-newyt-ba work which is popularly read by Rah’muns. 

PHARAOH KET-KET

Ket-Ket was known as the “Great Entertainer Pharaoh;” he held massive festivals in service to the Gods and encouraged more Rah’muns to take up recreational activities. His reign saw a relative period of demilitarization and an emphasis on entertainment over conflict. Consequently, this approach emboldened various Isfetian sources and caused the Rah’mun army to lose control over the “Outer Banks” of Kemet-Taw. Numerous Machimoi and Hesthor Netjer were sent to correct the issue, but they never regained control over the perilous region. This would be a mark against Ket-Ket’s reign for future generations. Because of his many military failures, Ket-Ket would abdicate the throne, giving authority of the Kingdom to his son, Khnum-Rekhi.

PHARAOH KHNUM-REKHI

As the twenty-eighth [28th] Pharaoh of Rah’tuma and the direct successor to Ket-Ket, Khnum-Rekhi slowly remilitarized Rah’tuma to prepare for a reconquest of the “Outer Banks” region of the continent. 

This Pharaoh would advocate for worship to Hesthor among the people and enforce temperance as it had been cast aside many times during his father’s reign. Not much else is recorded about Khnum-Rekhi.

PHARAOH KU-THUT

Ku-Thut, or the “King of Purity,” led Rah’mun civilization deeper into a worship of Hesthor and established the “Cult of Hesthor” which gave rise to Ramazet, the ferryman of the Great River. His reign saw a surge in Hesthorian worship in Rah’mun civilization. Ku-Thut aggressively responded to the rise of Keopians in the outer-banks of the south by constructing a network of Hesthor shrines near its perimeter and bringing forth a miniature version of the Great River upon the material plane, a massive feat not seen since the days of Naseret. The Outer Banks became completely purified and all dark influence was either eradicated or rendered powerless within days of the ritual. Ku-Thut also personally developed several magical and non-magical means of hunting Isfetians that became a staple within the ranks of many Machimoi. 

The most consequential of Ku-Thut’s rule was “the Great Purity Trials,” which saw several royal officials brought before the temples of Hesthor on account of impurity in their souls. The trials resulted in many of these officials being executed once proven guilty, whereas others were set free on account of innocence. Ku-Thut’s rulership is often described as “benevolent, but strict.” 

PHARAOH BAS-RA

Bas-Ra was known as the “Wise Scribe of Te’uth.” He ordered the largest commission of Rah’mun writing in the history of the Kingdom, and created an equally large collection of Rah’mun historical artefacts to be placed in libraries throughout the kingdom. His reign saw an explosion of knowledge and insights among the Rah’mun population. 

PHARAOH OSIRIS-MA

Osiris-Ma is noted for his expansion of the Rah’mun navy and his emphasis on ensuring expeditions to continents outside of Kemet-Taw. His reign saw the expansion of Rah’mun “missionaries” who built shrines to the Gods and spread the word of Ka’tau in other continents. Osiris-Ma was the first Pharaoh to live primarily outside Kemet-Taw and establish diplomatic relationships with other civilizations. This lifestyle would be passed down to his son and heir, Amenhotep.

PHARAOH AMENHOTEP 

Amenhotep is known as the “Absentee Pharaoh.” He rarely interacted with anyone within the palace complex or the priesthood and spent long hours journeying in the realm of the Gods. When he wasn’t interacting with the divine, he left Kemet-Taw and established enclaves in other lands. His absenteeism brought forth the rise of corruption and power-struggles among Rah’mun religious and political officials. Amenhotep’s Vizier, Nemes, successfully plotted to overthrow Amenhotep and ended up conducting a successful assassination against him when he returned from an overseas trip. Amenhotep’s food was poisoned and his two sons, heirs to his throne, were kidnapped and thrown into a river full of crocodiles. Nemes then assumed the throne shortly thereafter.

PHARAOH NEMES

The reign of Nemes, or the “Son of the Cobra,” marked the end of the historical epoch Hry-nekt-ta (c. the Middle Kingdom period). Nemes is the thirty-third [33rd] and second-to-last Pharaoh before the collapse of Rah’mun civilization. Nemes is believed to have been influenced directly by both Kazul and Keop, and he issued decrees accordingly. He ordered the closure of Hesthor temples in the Outer Banks and incorporated several questionable figures from civilizations Rah’tuma conquered into the main Hesthor priesthoods in the main city. He also divided the Rah’mun peoples by attempting to consolidate the entire religion of Ka’tau into worship of three deities: Dorabek and Ha-bet, the latter of whom was known as the ‘maniac God’ who brought forth insanity and discord in society. Worship of Ha-bet had been previously banned by other Pharaohs due to his relative proximity to Isfet. Mass religious persecutions occurred by Nemes’s rule, many hundreds of Rah’muns were slaughtered for refusing to adhere to his new edicts. Eventually a skilled priest of Hesthor managed to call forth Hesthor’s judgment upon Nemes with an unknown yet powerful invocation of her power. This spell caused Nemes’s mortal coil to shed and revealed him as an Isfetian sorcerer, a necromancer who had assumed the form of a human. The spell then eviscerated him totally and transported his soul to the Great River. Ibnamek, Nemes’s Vizier, took the throne afterward.

PHARAOH IBNAMEK

The reign of the Ibnamek marked the beginning of Isfe-nek-at (c. Era of Isfet and Exile). Ibnamek’s reign continued the damage wrought upon Rah’mun civilization by Nemes. Ibnamek refused to reform the religious division of the Rah’mun peoples and introduced a new God to the pantheon that very few people recognized. Ibnamek’s reign was very short, however, due to a plethora of events. Numerous initiates of the Hesthor priesthood were corrupted by Isfetian magics and they ended up corrupting the sources of Hesthor’s power within her Grand Temples. This led to the nullification of several protective spells that warded away the eldritch darkness of Kemet-Taw and unleashed a tsunami of chaos, social discord, and violence that overwhelmed the Kingdom. 

Several cities would revolt and form their own factions as the main city of the Kingdom became lawless and ungovernable. The Tribe of Tal, a native clan of Dark Elves to Kemet-Taw, formed the most dominant faction that represented Rah’mun traditionalism, whereas Ibnamek took up his own faction. He and his few followers were overwhelmed and killed in a battle against Atemu-Ta, a Rah’mun convert from Almaris who had been visiting Kemet-Taw for the second time. Atemu then claimed the title of Pharaoh and consolidated several factions under the Tal banner. 

The damage had already been done, however, and several Isfetian forces of Undead and daemonic began vying for total domination of Kemet-Taw. Ibnamek’s reign ended with the continent plunged into an endless dark and conflict, between the native Rah’mun and the dark ones who seek to thwart Ka’tau’s authority over the continent.

PHARAOH ATEMU-TA 

Atemu-Ta is the thirty-fifth [35th] and current Pharaoh of Rah’tuma as of this publication, along with being the first [1st] Pharaoh of the Rah’mun Remnant. His reign so far has consisted in unifying the people of Rah’tuma in a land far from Kemet-taw called Aevos, and reviving the practice of Rah’mun religious belief. He has successfully led his people into battle against numerous Isfetians, while also attracting the ire of forces like the Azdrazi and Iket (Gashadokuro). 

Hesthor worship has seen a resurgence under Atemu as well, overseeing the construction of several Hesthor shrines across Aevos and Almaris in the most tormented spots, calling attention to the authority of the Bovine Queen of Purity. Pharaoh Atemu is still the de-facto commander of the Rah’mun Resistance on Kemet-taw and keeps several priests stationed there to continue the fight to reclaim the Rah’mun home continent.

Leh-iy, my people of Rah’tuma and the wider continent of Braevos! I write this missive to call to those that wish to embody the Light of our highest God of Rah’tuma, LORD RA’TUHMET OF ETERNAL SUNLIGHT, who created by the KA’TAU, created the very world in which we walk upon during our day-to-day lives.

For the past Rah’mun Days, I have labored tirelessly in the restoration of LORD RA’s shrine for it laid shattered by an unknown defiler.. but that is no longer the case for it as the days go by, the closer his shrine is to being completely restored!

As LORD RA’TUHMET’S Ahurhemtepi Netjer, I call for those that wish to be champions, to become WARRIORS OF THE LIGHT to come forth to Rah’tuma and to the sunlit steps of the Temple of Ra to commit to yourself to toward the goal of purging the world of Isfetian influence with the HEKA of the TRUE and ETERNAL SUNLIGHT of LORD RA’TUHMET!

SUMMARIZATION

Denizens of Aevos and followers of the Gods of Rah’tuma, the time is upon us to confront the forces of Isfet. The destruction of the Hexicanum has caused Isfetians to scatter into dark corners, and it has temporarily disoriented them; however, our great PHARAOH ATEMU-TA has received wisdom from LORD TE’UTH concerning the recent announcements of these foul ones, they demand nothing less than a direct and merciless response from us. 

LADY HESTHOR herself beckons us to wield the authority of the Great River to cleanse the world of Isfetian filth. She has called for her ranks to be filled, for shrines to her glory to be consecrated in areas where Isfet holds sway. With the Agents of the False Sun no longer roaming the world, we as servants of Purity must take their place. Netjer-aspirants will learn to exercise the judgment of HESTHOR against Isfetians through prayer and invocations; Machimoi-aspirants will learn to purge the Isfetians with a Khopesh, spear, or longbow of the Gods.

CONCLUSION

To the pure-hearted, come before the PHARAOH or the LORD-REGENT this First Seed of the 197th Year of the Second Age to proclaim your interest in becoming a soldier of Purity or a bastion of Purity as a Netjer (c. Priest) and wield LADY HESTHOR’s Heka.

“I am the grim reaper, I am here to lay claim on what is mine; your soul.”

The words wafted through the darkened meadow, only lit by the dim glowing light of a forgotten deer-headed shrine. They held a hauntingly blood-filled raged tone as a mysterious uruk approached her, dragging a freshly-sharpened halberd along in their wake. A pair of footsteps greeted the farfolk woman by crunching through the darkness & shrubbery as she backed up in caution, readying herself. Something felt off about the moment for Ney'La, not just a casual bandit out for a bit of blood & mina; it went primal fairly quick as she was forced to defend herself.

It felt so long ago & yet such a short time that she remembered living alongside the other Rah’mun people within the orcish sands of the Horde. Making friends with the locals & witnessing a vampire brought to an end for their sloppy actions. It was almost as if it were yesterday she’d remembered being scarred by the cacti she trained with, only to be tended to by a visiting child she fell in love with over time. The times she'd helped carry bale after bale of hay to the cities to knead into bread & bake for those in need of travelling rations. Even the night she'd accompanied to a wrestling tournament in town only to lose within a few rounds was both a regret to train harder & a joy to experience with others.

So many good memories, so many bad, & yet the days had gone & passed by in the blink of an eye.

Somersaulting out of the way of a swing would only collide into a hefty kick to her chest, knocking the wind out of her. After dodging the relentless barrages of swings by the uruk that claimed to be Death, Ney’La was beginning to believe the claims as she struggled to catch her breath any.

“By th.. The grace of Hesthor, if ah’m.. Going anywhere.. It’s gonna be t’.. HER shores....!”

The uruk’s halberd flung through the air with such force with its dull side that her attempt to block the force would only seal her fate as her lungs burned for the lack of air for so long. The force made her body skid across the grass, gasping for air in her scrambled thoughts as a menacing cackle approached her crumpling frame on the ground.

"You will meet the demons I call my brother, dear Ney'La."

“If y’h put m’h & a dog side by side, would y’h treat m’h any diff’rent? ‘Cause all ah’ve been feelin’ has been y’h tellin’ m’h t’ ‘Come’ ev’rywhere y’h want m’h t’ go.” The words stung as Ney’La gritted her teeth, packing her own bag with the last remnants of her home with the pharaoh standing in the doorway. “R’spect goes both ways & ah’ve been tryin’ t’ give y’h what y’h d’serve ever since y’h first started this here civilization from the ground b’fore Krugmar, but there’s a DIFF’RENCE b’tween havin’ people accompany y’h places as equals & treatin’ ‘em like fodder! Ev’ry life d’serves t’ have r’spect & y’h can’t even give any t’ the person who built yer town from the ground up!”

“Everything I’ve done for you - and this is how you repay me.” The pharaoh’s words were cold as Atemu-Ta held his crook in hand, as if to remind her how low on the hierarchy she was to his inflated ego had become so long ago.

“...Git off yer high pedestal so y’h don’t ride it where Ra’s sun don’t shine & ah’ might share a drink with y’h later.” The words still looped in her thoughts as Ney’La’s heart broke to see someone she’d looked up to for so long turn on the opinions he forced his own hand to seek. “Ah’m already packin’ up; what else y’h want? Since y’h don’t appreciate that which stuck by yer side from the start....”

She’d helped Atemu-Ta build time & time again from the ground he’d been knocked back to for so long that she saw it as opportunities to strengthen their bond to help the man, yet here she remembered after all these years how little her efforts mattered to the pharaoh as she remembered being treated like she was nothing; that she didn’t hear the praise he claimed to give her for her efforts. It was all his will of the gods, not her own hand helping. Even when it came to rescuing her own neighbors did it not exist in the pharaoh’s mind when the pair argued it out in the last of her home. Ney’La hated the idea of leaving Rah’Tuma when she’d put in so much effort to help build many shrines for him, many walls & more than one city for him, all to be washed away by the Isfetian thoughts tainting Atemu’s senses.

“One more word, wretch, and I’ll take you to be consumed by Ammit in the hall of judgement for your impurity.”

“DINNER IS SERVED!” rang through her ears as a firm hand grabbed at Ney'La's braid to hoist her off the ground briefly, despite her attempt to cut her own hair off in the fray. Within a flash of movement, Ney’La could feel herself body slammed into the ground by the full force of the uruk above, pulling her into a headlock as she couldn’t find the footing to catch her second wind.

Between the force of the uruk & the other figure covering her face in what felt like a thousand cactus needles digging into her very soul, the sounds of the forest waned from existence for her. There were no more screams she could hear, though the internal CRUNCH of bones could be felt from her shoulders through the agony that took over her senses. Ney'La could feel the last strand of life cut from her body by a wave of force the one in front of her summoned forth, ripping what was left of her breath from her lungs burning for air before her body gave out at the same time the light of morning through the trees had been snuffed out.

The world was cold at first, then.. Nothing. No light, no cold, no pain or pressure. Opening her eyes in the unknown place she would find herself along the sandy shores of a desert oasis, one she’d not seen in many years, but a comfort to see nonetheless. A familiar face she hadn’t seen in MUCH longer of time approached the sands while holding hands with a figure of light, adorning a cow head smiling softly.

“M’h li’l lotus, Ney’La. Welcome home....” The woman let go of the light figure to embrace Ney’La in her arms, the pair of women taking the moment to reunite once more, “Ah’ see y’h’ve grown so much since ah’ was gone, but.. Hesthor’s told m’h so much.”

“Ah’m sorry, Ma....” Ney’La mumbled as she hugged the woman tightly, “Ah’ just wanted t’ b’long somewhere after y’h disappeared…. Ah’ tried m’h best fer Atemu…. Fer Narithen.. F-fer.. Hesthor....”

Glancing up to the cow-headed light figure, the deity of Hesthor herself nodded in understanding as she listened before placing a light hand upon her head, the feeling of comfort washed over her thoughts to calm her soul; there was no need to cry anymore, for Ney’La had suffered enough by life’s impurities.

Purity is an important concept that all descendants, regardless of culture, should uphold. In celebration of this principle the people of Rah’tuma are holding a festival to celebrate Hesthor, the embodiment of purity in our religion. Hesthor has granted our people victory over Darkspawn and those with impure hearts, and her Heka has treated many souls who were afflicted with horrific conditions, curses, and unnatural illnesses that come from Isfet. The coming of the Great River is inevitable and certain, and on that day Isfet will face damnation in eternal drowning. 

On (Thursday, July 11th at 7 PM EST), the Rah’mun people will celebrate the many contributions of Hesthor to our world, and YOU are invited to partake in this annual ritual. Every Rah’mun civilization since the days of the first Pharaoh Naseret has held HbW (festivals) of Hesthor, and we will be no different. There will be libations, food, waters blessed by Hesthor herself, costumes, and other festivities that take place during the festival.

Atemat- City of The Gods, Home of the Rahmun peoples

Far from their homelands nestled in the grainy sands of the deserts, the Rah’mun peoples have constructed a mighty citadel to the Gods near the cherry blossoms of the Koyo-Kuni Shugonate. Mighty towers rise from grandiose walls of the protected city, harboring a settlement whose streets are paved with quartz and fine gems. Great temples and shrines to the Gods of Rah’mun culture tower across the city, projecting divine sights and sounds over the homes of all Remtju; the mightiest of which being the Temple of Purity, devoted to the Goddess Hesthor. The shining, crystalline light of the Hesthor Temple acts as the mightiest beacon of purity in all of Western Aevos, striking fear into the heart of Isfetians that dare set foot within the Pharaoh’s domain.  The flaming obelisks of Ra’tuhmet and the moonlit iconography of Oti project the authority of both the Eternal Sun and the Eternal Moon over the territory.

HISTORY

The Rahmun peoples were originally a desert-dwelling culture, whose people are devoted to the idea of Ka’tau: the universal law of Creation that holds everything together and demands enforcement. To this end, the Rahmun peoples worship Gods who embody different aspects of Creation and conduct various religious and cultural festivals to ensure Ka’tau flourishes throughout the lands. Some Rahmun cities reflect devotion to a single God, whereas others serve several or all of the Gods in the pantheon. The Rah’mun are also an innovative people, and put great emphasis on wit, invention, and strategy in matters of the world and civilization. Followers of the God Atah are known to invent many structures and tools for everyday use, wartime purposes, and spiritual use. Many Rah’mun in general own businesses in foreign lands and help other civilizations with their own needs through inventions. There is also a strong intellectual core amongst the Rah’mun population, establishing their prowess as intellectuals and thinkers.

The origins of the Rah’mun peoples are ancient, though formal narratives about their history are often conflicting and inconsistent. The general narrative is that the Rah’mun Empire spanned continents long ago, but fell apart around three-hundred years ago after a horrible attack from sorcerers of Isfet [Chaos] and their Inferi helpers. This attack caused a diaspora of the Rah’mun across several continents, causing many of their cities to fall into chaos and degrade, and nearly resulted in the extinction of the culture as a whole.

Now, under the leadership of Pharaoh Atemu-Ta, the beginnings of a reinvigorated Rah’mun Empire are underway. The Pharaoh established the city of Atemat beneath the cherry blossom trees of Koyo-Kuni, welcoming all Rah’muns and outsiders who wish to learn more about the way of life of their people.

THE GODS [Spirits]

Although there are many Gods, known and venerated or unknown, there are three Gods that stand above all as the most important and most venerated within Rah’mun culture, being given the moniker of The Divine Three.

THE RA’TUHMET

The King of the Eternal Sun and Chief God in the Rah’mun pantheon, the Ra’tuhmet stands as a guiding light to all Rah’muns. Rah’mun mythos dictates that after Ka’tau birthed the beginnings of Creation, Ra fleshed it out, giving form and Light to the world, creating the descendant races, and reigning over them in the form of the “Flaming Eye.” Ra eventually waged war against his nemesis, Keop, the primordial embodiment of Darkness and Fear, and the arch-enemy of the Rah’mun people. The Rah’mun people believe whenever the sun sinks into the horizon, Ra has turned his sights to Keop’s domain and continues his war against it. It is common for Rah’muns to partake in rituals against Keop and other evil forces in the world to assist in Ra’s efforts against them.

HESTHOR

The Mother of Purity, Queen of the Great River, and the Bane of Isfet. Hesthor is a powerful and culturally significant Rah’mun deity whose presence is invoked against the most impure threats to the mortal world. In Rah’mun mythos, after the Ra’tuhmet created the world, Hesthor polished it with her pure waters and inspired the newly-created descendants to be pure in heart and mind. Shortly after the arrival of Keop, Hesthor came into tension with her own foe: Kazul, an dog-headed Inferic general who the Rah’muns believe is closely related to the Daemon “Iblees.” The Pharaoh Naseret called upon Hesthor’s power and summoned a mighty tidal wave of purity to drive Kazul and his legions from the world. Infuriated, Kazul plotted the downfall of Rah’mun civilization and centuries later corrupted the minds of a select few Hesthor Priesthood initiates. This gave him a foothold into Rah’mun civilization and allowed him to usher in the total collapse of Rah’mun society, bringing forth Isfe-nek-at (era of Isfet and exile), which drove Rah’muns from their home continent of Kemet-taw and to lands like Aevos. During Keop’s reign of terror, a race of blessed bovine men that Hesthor created were also virtually eradicated from the world by Inferi war hordes. For this reason, Hesthor’s priesthood is vigilant of newcomers, subjecting them to spirit walks every week to ensure they are free from the corruption of Isfet. Hesthor is also hellbent on the eradication of all Inferic influence from reality, and her powers are often used to this end by her priest-magicians. Her priests often raise mighty Hesthorian obelisks and shrines in accursed areas to hasten her domain into the world. It is recurring goal of the Hesthor priesthood to bring the “Great River,” a river which flows from the throne room of Hesthor across the heavens, into the mortal world. Rah’muns believe the manifestation of the Great River is the first event needed to usher in the full restoration of Ka’tau and purity into the world.

KALTHET

Kalthet is a lioness Goddess who is often called The Lady of Wit, the shield of the Rah’mun Peoples and the architect of Warfare. Kalthet’s first act in existence was to provide the early Rah’muns with knowledge of strategy and wit to best their foes. Over the years she evolved into a deity of civilizational battle, providing a bulwark against both mundane and supernatural foes of the Pharaoh and the Rah’mun peoples. Kalthet’s wisdom is credited with helping the Ra’thumet overcome Keop in his first battle against him. Ever since the era of Naseret, the first Pharaoh, every succeeding Pharaoh has honored Kalthet’s role in Rah’mun life. Her priests tend to be warriors or highly-ranked figures in the Rah’mun military or guard force who invoke her wisdom for upcoming battles. Machimoi (warriors) in Rah’mun society hold Kalthet as their patron deity, with Rah’mun military barracks and bases at home and abroad decorated with shrines to her.

To the Orcish observer, one would note that the Ka’tau Faith could be seen as a sect of Spiritualism, the worship of the Spirits, with the Rah’mun Gods being Spirits and the priests themselves being Shamans. While true to a degree, very few Rah’muns would refer to their Gods as Spirits or lesser of any sort - seeing them as the divine forces of the world and anything else as redundant.

ECONOMY AND POLITICS

Atemat is a traditional absolute monarchy led by a figure called “Pharaoh.” The Pharaoh in Rah’mun society has traditionally been venerated as a godlike figure, and is the supreme figure in all matters of interpretation in the Rah’mun religion, life, and law. He sets religious doctrine and rituals, laws, and is considered the Voice of the Gods and the ultimate lawbringer of Ka’tau. The Pharaoh is also considered to be the one who upholds the balance of the realms by ensuring Ka’tau prevails over the forces of chaos, which adds to his godlike physique. In the Rah’mun mind, the Pharaoh is the ultimate authority, with no one possessing the legitimacy to challenge him lest they offend the Gods.

Despite all political power falling to Pharaoh and his advisor, the Vizier, there is a strict emphasis on freedom in Rah’mun society. Ahura-Ma, the Rah’mun Goddess of Freedom, demands that practices like enslavement or captivity never be practiced amongst the Rah’mun, and her dictates are held deeply.  

Economically, the Rah’muns are both traders and inventors. Just left of the gate into the Pharaonic domain, there is a bazaar for merchants from all over to set up and sell their wares. Within Rah’tuma, there is a strong emphasis on selling potions, spiritual elixirs, weapons of war, and food. Anyone is free to set up a stall in the Rah’mun bazaar so long as they pay a small fee.

Rah’tuma’s primary currency is Mina, although diamonds, pearls, or pure salts are sometimes accepted; the latter two representing the dominance of Hesthorian beliefs in the city.

SUMMARIZATION OF THE CRIMES OF THE TRIBE OF LUCERAN

The TRIBE OF LUCERAN has been seen to disrespect the PHARAOH, put his divine authority and mental health into question, and have routinely caused disruptions of peace within our blessed walls; with the husband of ESMERAY LUCERAN, JAHTEP-RA, going out of his way to disrespect not only the PHARAOH and his VIZIER, but the GODS THEMSELVES, for which he was punished physically by ZEEVA TAL by orders of the PHARAOH. Prior to this trial, members of the TRIBE OF LUCERAN and their accomplices came to the PHARAOH and demanded for him to partake in the Isfetian practice of “therapy.” Why allow blemished souls to do what the unblemished, purifying Heka of Lady HESTHOR can do within an instant? This is contrary to the beliefs our ancestors have held since the times of the Great Naseret. Why tear down thousands of years of tried-and-true beliefs and customs for those that have clearly only assimilated few of our Mouth’s customs?

By the LAWS OF KA’TAU, these actions would be charged as criminal and the guilty would receive PHYSICAL PUNISHMENT, or, in the extreme case, EXECUTION, However, our Pharaoh, ATEMU-TA, is an extremely merciful ruler and has merely allowed the TRIBE OF LUCERAN to leave despite its youngest charge, a goblin named BONES LUCERAN, drawing his weapon before the Pharaonic Throne and threatening harm to the PHARAOH, his VIZIER, the Ahurhemtempi Netjer of Lord RA, SILAS, the Netjer of Lady HESTHOR, OSIRIS-HA BRYLYNN, and the loyal Machimoi, ZEEVA TAL and CIDHAN-RA, present at their trial.

CRIMES CHARGED AGAINST THE TRIBE OF LUCERAN

The committed crimes against Rah’tuma by the TRIBE OF LUCERAN are as followed, according to the LAWS OF KA’TAU:

LAW 35 - “All denizens of Rah’tuma must show loyalty to the Pharaoh, and all visitors are expected to respect him, the Gods of Rah’tuma, and the faith, traditions, and customs of Rah’tuma. Failure to do any of these things will result in exile, banishment, or twenty lashings.”

LAW 40 - “All converts to the Rah’mun faith must assimilate into Rah’tuma’s culture. Failure to assimilate will result in a warning. Should the warned continue to refuse assimilation, they will face banishment from the city.”

SENTENCING OF THE TRIBE OF LUCERAN

Showing his mercy and being guided by TE’UTH’s infinite wisdom, PHARAOH ATEMU-TA sentenced the TRIBE OF LUCERAN to BANISHMENT from the borders of Rah’tuma; never to set foot within our blessed lands again IN PERPETUUM.

Additionally, the TRIBE OF LUCERAN is stripped of all their Rah’mun titles and names, the Tribe shall not use their Rah’mun names again IN PERPETUUM.

SUMMARIZATION OF THE CRIMES OF ARVEL AHMOSKHNUM TOA

Coinciding with the BANISHMENT of the TRIBE OF LUCERAN, their accomplice, ARVEL AHMOSKHNUM TOA, is charged guilty for conspiracy against PHARAOH ATEMU-TA. This Mali’ker has routinely questioned our cultural ways and how we enact judgment upon criminals within the Mouth of Rah’tuma and has debated the PHARAOH about his decisions on several occasions. 

Along with his involvement with the TRIBE OF LUCERAN, he has:

• Exposed the PHARAOH’s son, ATUM, to the Isfetian practices of VOIDAL MAGIC with the reasoning to save the life of the prince.

• Insulted CIDHAN-RA, a highly-respected Machimoi of the PHARAOH.

• Insulted the VIZIER OF RAH’TUMA, declaring him “A pathetic excuse for a Vizier.”

As all ACCUSED described within this missive have been perpetually BANISHED from the Lands of Rah’tuma, any attempt to enter the walls or even stepping within the borders of Rah’tuma will be considered TRESPASSING and will be judged accordingly to the LAWS OF KA’TAU.

[!] A set of missives are seen throughout Aevos bearing the symbol of a curved eye above a depiction of a golden falcon head. When the missive is unfurled, the following text is revealed to the reader:

Leh-iy, in the name of the Ra’tuhmet, lord of the eternal sun and keeper of Creation. Isfet, known as chaos to many civilizations, has plunged our world into darkness. Enemies of Creation, such as foul draconic Isfetians, daemons, Undead, and other horrors, roam confidently in the demise of the False Sun, known as Xan. Dragons prowl this world freely, looking to subjugate those who are blind to the Light, and destroy they who know of its glory.

Now is not a time to retreat, hide, or remain passive in the face of these Isfetian evils. The world must embrace the Light that shines brightly where Xan’s faded away - the eternal light of the Ra’tuhmet. The priesthood of the Ra’tuhmet calls to all of you who once put your faith in Xan, or believed that his centurions were the salvation of descendants from the evils of Isfet. Your judgment was misplaced, but the true King of the Sun can provide reprieve from the stinging reality of your mistakes. His is the Light of Ka which burns eternally with the might of the Sun. It is his light that we are commanded to send throughout the world to counter the Dark. 

The False Sun’s principles were entirely concerned with serving his own selfish pleasures, with little regard to what is good or true beyond his will. The Ra’tuhmet, whose glory is shown to this world during each sunrise, set into motion the laws of Ka’tau which bind moral conduct across cultures and civilizations and, regardless of arbitrary whim. 

This poses an important question to those who seek the true light of Ka: What does it mean to follow the Ra’tuhmet?

A follower of the Ra’tuhmet will uphold the forty-two laws of Ka’tau, the spiritual law of truth, order, and justice that binds all who live in the world.

One who serves Ra shall provide clarity to the darkest of situations, and cast away the darkness of deceit through their efforts.

A follower of Ra will bring his light to the darkest reaches of the world by building shrines, forging weapons, and using Heka - divine magic -  in his name. Most importantly, a follower of Ra will build shrines, forge weapons, and use Heka for opposing the enemies of the True Sun and Ka’tau. The light of Ra does not abide by aengudaemonica, undead, the Infernalists, and other foul powers that mock or defy Ka’tau’s order. 

A follower of Ra will bring more to know his glory and teach about the foundations of Creation. 

Whether you decide to serve as a champion for Ra, acting as his Khopesh and striking down his enemies, or a priest, conjuring Heka and increasing his presence in his mortal plane, your gifts are called to his service.

[!] Bones had rallied to Uncle O’s outpost with the rest of the Rah’muns, taking up a cannon in the boar they drove to breach the city. After successfully breaching the city wall with cannonballs, Bones narrowly avoided being clobbered by one of the many demons which held the city, raising his shield to protect himself. With one swing of his war axe, it was reduced to ash. 

Inside the city, Bones moved to the front line as he saw a large wave of armored foes, readying his mace. Right as he moved to attack, a wave of malflame appeared behind him and his comrades, burning him as he fell to the ground. All this pain did was enrage him. He felt the desire to spill his enemies blood. He moved forth and felled several armored Kozun demons, before staying back to protect his Pharaoh as the demon king Draz-Kalthazar became more active. As the battle went on, he saw a bottle of auric oil dismantle one of the anchors holding the ritual in place. Having one on his person as well, he and the Pharaoh moved towards the ritual. Before they could strike, Draz-Kalthazar struck the Pharaoh, sending him flying across the battlefield. Enraged that he could not stop this, Bones threw his bottle on the anchor, watching its evil magic fade into nothingness.

He ran to his sister, Panya, to retrieve another bottle, only to see the last anchor diminished as well. Two Rah’mun priests, Nebkhet-Sha and Akeketah, screamed mighty prayers to Lord Oti, King of Moonlight, and Amauent, lady of vitality and Heka, exhorting their aid to strike the demon king with spiritual judgment. Akeketah’s spell manifested into her hand as an ethereal crescent moon, the Priestess commanding it to arc across the sky and strike true against the demons flesh. Oti’s Heka caused the sun to strike against Kalthazar, his skin furiously singed by the spell. The demon king then struck against the Rah’mun priests, tossing Akeketah into Nebkhet, now endangering the rest of the Rah’mun assault.

Bones witnessed these events with horror which motivated him to decisive action.  He knew what to do. To protect his family, his city, and his Pharaoh, Bones would slay this blight on the land. Pouring the oil on his spear, he ran forth at the demon king. Yelling with all the fury and vigor he had in him, Bones called out; “FUR RAH’TUMA!!!” As he skewered Draz Kalthazar clean through his chest, ending the demon king's existence.  Watching him melt away into nothing but ash. Templars, heroes, warriors, and divines all tried to end the Isfetian King, but only Bone’s strike truly ended the beast. Bones was then hailed as a champion of Kalthet, the great spirit of Wit and Strategy in war, and canonized in the long history of Rah’mun machimoi heroes. 

[!] A missive is distributed across Aevos and especially the country of Koyuni, placed by unknown couriers presumably under the influence of the Rah’mun morale. The missive is sealed with a golden ankh cross which is surrounded by a set of hieroglyphs that are shaped like a cowhead and lioness head. The following is seen upon opening the missive

Leh-iy to the denizens of Aevos. 

I am Pharaoh Atemu-Ta, voice of Ka’tau and leader of the Rah’mun peoples. I write to you with good news that should settle the troubled Ib of all pure peoples across Aevos. 

There is much darkness across this world in light of recent events. The draconic Isfetians and their cursed father arise from the north, Iket - known as Gashadokuro - claims domain over the blossoms of Koyuni, and the Harrower threatens the safety of all descendants.

In light of these horrific Isfetian evils, hopelessness becomes a common response to those of us who value safety, truth, and purity for our nations. But the Gods of Ka’tau are raising mighty champions to meet the occasion we find ourselves in. Bones, a goblin child who recently became a member of Rah’mun civilization, is responsible for the felling of the Isfetian monarch known as Draz-Kalthazar. Kalthazar assisted Iket in overtaking Sakagakura with hordes of demons and other manner of Isfetians, and then held the territory under a tyrannical rule for many moons. Under the guidance of Kalthet and Tetu, two mighty Rah’mun gods of battle, Bones defied the odds and landed the killing blow on the demonic king, single-handedly ending his influence over the mortal world and sending his men into retreat.

The extraordinary fact is Bones’s age - they are little more than a child by normal standards, and yet their soul is a mighty testament to the power of the Gods. Bones’s victory over this ancient evil proves that our people are uniquely positioned to restore the spiritual law of Ka’tau - order, truth, justice, harmony - over the whole of creation once more.

All who follow the path of Ka’tau and venerate our Gods can also take up the banner of their causes and wield divine gifts towards righteous ends. Every Isfetian at every reach of Aevos will eventually know the wrathful sting of Ka’tau upon their souls delivered by the champions of the Gods. May Champion Bones’s name be sung throughout the realms and his achievements be immortalized in Rah’mun history. Iket, his foul Hexicanum will fall next to the wrath of the Gods. May the forces of purity march with spears held high and Khopeshes at the ready.

May Isfet be doomed to defeat. Heketa Kalthet, Heketa Hesthor, Heketa, Heketa the Shugo and men of Koyuni, Heketa victory.

Dorabek, lesser spirit of crocodiles and oasis-dwelling animals

"Pharaohs and kingdoms rest upon the power of my strength and that of my children. Ka’tau flourishes in the oasis of the lands. Strength projects from my jaws, and my Ka brings rise to strong armies. I am Dorabek."

Dorabek is an influential entity within the Rah’mun pantheon, known for representing strength, military prowess, the mighty Desert crocodile, and the enriching nature of oasis. Dorabek is often depicted as a being with the head of a crocodile and a body of a human male, sometimes wielding two large knives, and other times possessing an ankh and a staff which bears his symbology.

Dorabek’s name is often invoked by his priests to ward away danger from the homes and temples of Rah’mun, or in some cases to directly afflict evil-doers with Dorabek’s wrath. Many Rah’mun cities have crocodile pits which serve to punish those who violate the laws of Ka’tau in egregious manners. Most of the crocodile pits have small shrines to Dorabek present and act as religious sites. 

Rah’mun mythos states that Dorabek emerged from the mind of Te’uth as he spent time studying crocodiles along the desert rivers of Kemet-taw, the Rah’mun homeland. Te’uth’s focus unintentionally became a magical spell infused with divine power, which parted from his mind and manifested into the form of Dorabek, who became a mighty God in his own right shortly after being created. 

Dorabek wandered Kemet-taw and claimed right over the Crocodiles and animals of various oasis, and also provided numerous Rah’mun villages with protection against aggressive, rogue, or corrupted Crocodiles who were in service to Isfet. Dorabek’s actions caused him to quickly accumulate a strong following which became a mainstay priesthood within Rah’mun culture. For a brief period of time, Dorabek usurped Hesthor in cultural significance by becoming associated with Pharonic strength, but this period of time quickly subsided as more Rah’muns sought purity in the image of Hesthor. 

Today, Dorabek and Tetu’s priesthoods work together to ensure the collective safety of Rah’mun lands and sacred places. Dorabek’s priests can often be found dwelling among crocodile pits, creating oasis and raising shrines to Dorabek within them, and assisting the Machimoi of Rah’tuma in fighting Isfet. Netjer of Dorabek are known for casting powerful spells which cause even the most hardened Isfetians to become overtaken by their patron. 

Dorabek remains an enduring symbol of Rah’mun strength, power, and resilience.

Please take your time reading this letter. I am not fond of being threatened or robbed. It is with great sadness I have to inform and warn you all of a Ravens wood Warrior, Who actively endangered me, and my beloved best friend, Emmerich Anarion Aged six.
 

I will try my best to recap the events of what occurred this night. In the late evening, I was upset with a few personal issues, which I will not dive deep into today. Emmerich Anarion was comforting me on the bridge leading into [The nation . . ] Petra. Along comes a man on a black horse with white spots, fully suited in armor. He goes on to ask what we are doing on the bridge. I do not think I have to explain why I did not tell the truth, I simply stated kid things. Emmerich went on to say 'Contemplating Jumping' which was not in . . a seeking death way but for a splash. 
 

This man goes onto tell Emmerich to jump from the bridge that extends over the valley. I tell Emmerich that this is not a good idea, landing wrong may hurt him, break a bone or two, or even lead to death. In which the man replies 'The water will save you, Grownups should be listened to, we know better.'  I continue to plead with Emmerich to try to get him to understand the dangers of jumping, where the man tells me 'Do you want him to be a Sissy when he grows up?' I successfully manage to get Emmerich to understand why jumping would not result in a pleasant sensation. 
 

I told him a fake name, claiming my name was Reina, not Revekka. He went on to mock me for the name, perhaps I am not a good liar. I admit that my anger may have taken over my rational actions, I went on to insult this man, angered by him attempting to persuade my friend to jump off of the bridge. I went on to tell him curse at him, where he tells me 'You look too small to be using those words' where I replied 'You look to old to be  trying to find people to interact with you' 

He asked me if I had a death wish, I pull out a few bottles that I was instructed to use for protection if threatened with harm. He tells me to give him Mina or either something special to me, in which he decides he would like a potion my dearest [now missing] friend gifted to me. I went to instruct him on how to use it, giving it a tiny swirl. He directed his horse to stampede me. I managed to slip out of the way, hitting myself on the railing. I informed him it was not a blast potion and would not explode. It was a smoke whispers potion. Which causes no harm to one, simply stunting the ability to see clearly. I made it clear that if used or handed to him, it would be gone from my person either way. 
 

The paranoia of this man was utterly hilarious, I did end up handing the potion over once I saw Emmerich panicked. With that, I asked him who he served for and he informed me it was Ravenswood. This is my official warning to watch out for a tiny little guy [about rahknar's height] who likes to persuade children into killing themselves, and demanding money and belongings from them.

The world has forgotten the laws of Ankh from which all life springs, and the Gods who preserve it. The Rah’mun peoples continue to stand as a light of innovation, creativity, and purity to the nations.

The Gods call for priests to fill the temples of Ka’tau, Machimoi (warriors) to staff the ranks of the Pharaoh’s army, diplomats to bring forth the Rah’mun cause throughout the world, and scholars to record the past and present progression of their civilization.

All descendants are called by the Gods to embrace Ka’tau and walk along the divine paths of their namesake.

Tetu, Tet-mtn (path) of defense and protection, where his servants defend Rah’tuma and the innocents of the world from those who would cause them unjust harm

Te’uth, teu-mtn, of knowledge and wisdom, where his scribes record all manner of knowledge for the enrichment of the Khnem (soul).

Amaunet, ame-mtn, of vitality and Ka (life), where her physician-magicians cure all ailments of the body and strike against the bodies of Isfetinas and all who conduct evil.

Ka’tau, kte-mtn, path of law and justice, where her servants bring Creation’s divine law to reaches of the world where chaos reigns.

Ptuh-ra, pte-mtn, path of Creation and forging, where innovative Rah’muns create wares to sell to other civilizations and advance the physical and economic health of their own. 

There are many paths of Ka’tau that go beyond what has been stated here that are available in Rah’mun civilization. The question becomes, will you answer the call? Shrine of Hesthor, Spirit of Pure Waters

The Towering Shrine Stood Tall, Proclaiming Victory over Isfet

The Pharaoh and his Machimoi sit behind the tall grass and towering pines of Lotusgrad’s forests with their weapons drawn, preparing to ambush the participants of a necromantic ritual on a forested hill As the Pharaoh, blessed of Hesthor who possessed glowing cyan eyes of her authority, and his Vizier approached the hill, they were interrupted by a burst of elemental, chaotic, and visceral energies. A cataclysmic inferno ensued.  A blinding light struck all present, and once it subsided a truth became clear - the Isfetians failed to bring forth their power. 

The Vicar let out an excruciating yell “GO! This land is good for nothing!” The Isfetian sorcerer yelled. The Pharaoh Atemu proceeded to make chase, but it became evident the Vicar and his men were far too ahead. The Pharaoh then turned his gaze towards the grounds impacted by the elemental cataclysm, and he saw a horrid sight. Wilted flowers, corrupted soil teeming with infernal energies, and splotches of filth abound. A foul shadow rose from this elemental chaos, causing a stiffness in the air, though it shortly faded thereafter.

“The Vicar is a coward,” Atemu began as he held his growing Pharonic crook, “but his cowardice shall not compel us to let his sorceries fester. Today, Hesthor will make this place whole once again - the Great River shall wash away impurities.” 

Atemu then called his Vizier and Netjer (Priest) Rakhnar to each side of the blighted land. Each of the Netjer threw forth offerings for Hesthor as they invoked her name. The power of the Lady of Purity teemed through each of them, emerging from the Pharaoh’s crook and body in the form of white-cyan mists, and creating a hieroglyphic halo upon the head of the Vizier. 

“Heketa Hesthor, come and clean the filth!” The Pharaoh yelled in the sacred tongue. Hieroglyphics that line the body of the Pharaoh’s crook began to shimmer with power, depicting the triumph of Hesthor over Isfet. The Pharaoh’s fervent prayers continue bringing rise to ethereal mists that snaked down from his crook towards the ground and took the form of spiritual waters. As the priests chanted the spiritual waters gained more power and approached a critical mass. At that moment, the Pharaoh’s eyes crackled with spiritual authority as he slammed his crook into the ground.

Thud.

The energies amassed by the Rah’mun Netjer shook the surface and the spiritual waters swept across blighted grounds. The Infernal powers faded away, and the formerly rotting vegetation and infernal sickness became restored instantly, becoming once more a verdant forested area.

“Isfet has lost,” Atemu said as he raised his hand, “and this shall be the first of many defeats. The Great River shall purge all filth from the face of this world.” The Pharaoh then promptly directed his builders towards the grounds that were once corrupted. Rah’mun builders quickly raised a mighty shrine of Hesthor upon the purified lands, overlooking the former sight of an Isfetian ritual, standing as a defiant tribute to the spirit’s power over all. 

The mighty shrine, standing at several feet tall and streaming with pure, clear waters, teemed with spiritual energy as whispers of Old Blah are heard around it. The purified grounds remain marked with the assurance of Hesthor’s watchful gaze, a triumph over any act of chaos.

[!] The Pharaoh then wrote the following into a missive and sent it around Aevos with his couriers.

“The name ‘Hesthor’ and Ka’tau shall be known to every Isfetian across these lands. No sorcerer, necromancer, witch, or demon shall escape the fate that awaits them beneath the blessed rapids of the Great River. The Rah’mun people will continue to confront darkness wherever it arises - and we shall restore the law of Lady Ka’tau to the dark corners of this world where Isfet - chaos - reigns.

May every Isfetian be notified: the fate that awaits you is unkind. You have already lost, and this will become evident as the Gods of Ka’tau continue their judgment of you. This is simply the beginning.

The Rah’muns, also known as the Blessed of the Sands and the Keepers of Ka’tau, are an ancient desert dwelling civilization traditionally composed of humans and elves which originate from the distant continent of Kemet-taw, or Kemet for short. Over the course of their civilization they evolved from small desert villages into a fearsome empire, spanning entire regions of land, including numerous members of all descendant races within its ranks, and containing numerous countries.

Rah’mun history is divided into three distinct eras: Hat-am-ankh (The early Kingdom, reign of Naseret the first Pharaoh), Hry-nekt-ta (the middle Kingdom period, which documents the reign of 40 Pharaohs in succession) and Ate-nek-pa (Modern Kingdom which occurred shortly before the Dawn of Isfet) and the present age called Isfe-nek-at (era of Isfet and exile). 

An event known as the Dawn of Isfet marked the beginning of the Isfe-nek-at period and saw the Rah’mun empire thrown into disarray and scattered across the continents of the world, splintered into factions that either integrated into other cultures or built isolated enclaves in the world’s deserts. This moment is less popularly known as the “Post-Empire” era, as it also conveys a sense of decline in Rah’mun glory.  In recent times, Rah’mun descendants and converts in Aevos have gathered under the banner of an enigmatic Pharaoh called Atemu-Ta and live in the city of Rah’tuma. 

The agenda of many modern-day Rah’muns involves restoring the glory of previous historical eras to their modern civilization, and bringing balance to the world through fervent devotion to their way of life and service to the Gods. Indeed, Aevosian Rah’muns are a deeply religious and proud people who devote themselves entirely to the principles of Ka’tau, the guiding set of religious ethics for Rah’mun society. They are also adventurous, curious, and inventive, all traits the many in Rah’mun society hope will help their civilization and all descendants prosper once more.

In addition to enriching the cultures of Aevos with their creative wares, Rah’muns are also known for taking an aggressive stance against the forces of Isfet, or chaos, the opposite of Ka’tau. Rah’muns of all areas in their society are commonly seen slaying darkspawn, driving away afflictions from the souls of the innocent, and judging minor and major crimes by invoking the law of Ka’tau, all with the aim of ensuring Ka’tau reigns strongly throughout the lands of the world.

Rah’mun culture is marked by a deep religious belief in a moral spiritual law named Ka’tau, who is also personified by the Goddess of the same namesake.  Rah’muns believe Ka’tau embodies the concept of cosmic order, truth, balance, and justice. This philosophy heavily influences how Rah’muns see the world around them, and the structure of their own society and culture. As long as the universe revolves around Ka’tau this purity would ensure that harmony reigns strongly throughout mortal affairs and societies. Isfet (chaos) is strongly condemned by Rah’muns as the source of all evil and disorder in the world. It is the battle between these opposing forces - Ka’tau and Isfet - that informs the Rah’mun worldview.

 It is believed that the Pharaoh is an important figure in the battle between Ka’tau and Isfet, and he is entrusted to keep the balance by warding away Isfet by acting as a symbol for strong morals in Rah’mun civilization. Some Rah’muns see the Pharaoh as a divine figure in his own right, worthy of devotion to the level of a God. Others see the Pharaoh as a strong and necessary figure who has the sanction of the Gods, but is still a mere mortal. 

Rah’muns also emphasize purity and health in everyday life. Fighting tournaments, archery sessions, fishing, exploration, and other physical activities are emphasized to ward away ailments of the body and mind. A body burdened by sickness cannot act properly, nor can a mind starved by vice think clearly. Mortality is an accepted fact in Rah’mun society - and their interpretation of death will be mentioned later - but to refuse to maintain oneself is considered an act of negligence and, to some, even evil. On matters of purity, many Rah’muns abstain from taking overindulgence in drinking, food, drugs, or other vices that bestow impurity. The avoidance of these vices has little to do with prudishness or tastes, in fact, Rah’mun ethics holds that personal beliefs are inferior to the ultimate truth is found in Ka’tau. Impurity is seen as a gateway into a disordered life and society, a penalty that will be paid upon death by harsh judgment from the Gods and in life with the ascent of Isfet in the world. The Cow Goddess Hesthor acts as the icon of purity within Rah’mun civilization. In honor of both the concept of purity and its personification in Hesthor, Rah’muns indulge in blessed waters from Hesthor’s temples, and keep their cities and homes orderly through many means, including washing them with the Bovine Mother’s waters.

Rah’muns are visionaries by nature, and aspire to perfect the resources Creation has given them to better the world. As such, there is a great emphasis on merchantry and innovation within Rah’mun society. Many Rah’muns practice multiple skills or trades at once, and sell valuable cultural wares to the nations of the world. 

Rah’mun religion flows from the culture’s devotion to Ka’tau. Rah’muns have a polytheistic spiritual belief system that is based upon following the principles of Ka’tau by worshiping many distinct Gods. The main three Gods are the Ra’tuhmet, Creator God whose domain is the sun and light; Hesthor, a Goddess associated with purity and rivers; and Kalthet, a goddess of strategy and wisdom in war. There are many other Gods within the Rah’mun canon that demand worship - over 1,000 of them, it is believed - most of which are contained in the many volumes of the “Book of the Gods.” Each God has their own unique role and domain. For example, the Cow Goddess Hesthor acts as the icon of purity within Rah’mun civilization. In honor of both the concept of purity and its personification in Hesthor, Rah’muns indulge in blessed waters from Hesthor’s temples, and keep their cities and homes orderly through many means, including washing them with the Bovine Mother’s waters.

Rah’muns believe that their actions in life must be ordered by Ka’tau and specifically follow the “Forty-two laws of Ka’tau” as the centerpiece of their religious practice. Rah’mun religion is often not practiced in temples or buildings by most people, but is lived out in everyday life through adherence to Ka’tau’s laws.

Rah’muns believe the Gods are locked in eternal conflict with Isfet and need the prayers and devotions of their followers to triumph. 

Religion in Rah’mun society is overseen supremely by the Pharaoh, who has the ultimate say on all religious matters, doctrines, and practice. The second-most powerful class of people in the Rah’mun religious hierarchy  are the Netjers, also known as priests. Netjers are seen as the voice and will of the Gods in the world. They often wield the power of their respective God - called Heka - and devote it to their priestly duties. Worship of the Gods takes place in temples devoted to a specific God or Gods. Every temple has a Nehemtempi Netjer (a high priest) and several regular Netjer below him who are responsible for undertaking religious rituals, assisting the Remtju with spiritual and religious matters, and maintaining the sanctity of the society through offerings and prayers to the Gods. The Nehemtempi Netjer oversees the priests and the internal dogmas of their respective temples, though deference is given to the Pharaoh in all manners of interpretation.

All temples and priesthoods play different roles in Rah’mun society. Nesahor’s priests tend to funerary rites and oversee the protection of the dead and dying. Hesthor’s temples cleanse impurities and keep Rah’mun sentiments in line with Ka’tau.. Ka’tau’s priesthood executes the judgment of Ka’tau upon Isfetians and wayward Rah’muns on behalf of their Goddess and her forty-two assessors. Tetu and Kalthet’s priesthood devise spiritual strategies for defense of Rah’tuma and its allies. Some Rah’mun cities have one main priesthood and thus devote themselves to a single concept; others worship multiple Gods and integrate their functions respectively. 

The influence of the Gods reaches every corner of the Rah’mun worldview. The great Rah’mun empires named their militaries and city guard forces after the Gods, specifically Kalthet and her consort Tetu. Netjer (priests) are often called to drive away sicknesses and supernatural afflictions with the power of Heka, and to invoke the wrath of the Gods and Ka’tau upon the Pharaoh’s foes and agents of Isfet. 

 Ka’tau brought forth the God Ra’tuhmet, sometimes called Ra, who then took her Heka and used it to shape the universe and the world all descendants inhabit. After finishing his work the Ra’tuhmet took the form of the sun that had a curved flaming eye at its center. From the Ra’tuhmet’s Creations came two Goddesses, Hesthor, who was given dominion over Creation’s purity, and Kalthet, who was charged to strategize against future enemies of Ka’tau. This event marked the beginning of recorded Rah’mun history and the era Hat-am-ankh.
 

Once the Ra’tuhmet became the sun, he created the original descendant races and all of their seminal figures, such as Krug, Horen, and so forth. Around this same time a force of chaos emerged at the edges of Creation that did not receive the fullness of the Ra’tuhmet’s light. Isfet was born in this moment and initially took the form of a dreaded entity called Keop, the fallen God of fear, darkness, and chaos, the exact opposite of the Ra’tuhmet. Keop’s influence entered into the minds of the earliest descendants and tried to turn their hearts against the law of Ka’tau. Corruption was introduced to the world, darker forms of Heka (isfetian magicks) came into existence, and rebellion, lawlessness, and chaos were first seen in descendant societies. Many Rah’mun citizens began turning away from the Gods and serving their own interests, as Keop had taught them.

Naseret, the first Pharaoh, cried out to the Flaming Eye and asked for guidance as he watched his people forsake the Gods and turn away from Ka’tau. The Flaming Eye then appeared to him and revealed its true nature as the falcon-headed Ra’tuhmet, God of Sunlight and Creation, and then bequeathed his power upon Naseret. This event made Naseret the first Netjer to wield Heka - in the words of other cultures, the first “Shaman.”  

Naseret drove Keop out of the lands of descendants with Heka and helped the Ra’tuhmet begin his eternal war against the darkness. Rah’muns believe this war explains the cycles of night and darkness. When the sun lowers, the Ra’tuhmet is in the realm of Keop upon his solar barge, surrounded by a plethora of Gods, fighting the draconic Keop until his defeat, then returning to the waking world upon victory.

But another problem arose around this time. Another force of chaos emerged from the edge of Creation, appearing as a ‘red flame’. From this form was birthed the one called Kazul, an agent of the entity known to some as ‘Iblees’. Kazul, a deformed creature composed of screaming souls with the head of a mangled dog,  Isfetian fire, and unholy wrath, led his armies against the people of Naseret. Kazul’s reign of terror introduced another Isfetian force to the world, though his rule ended quickly. Naseret met Kazul’s armies in an oasis on the continent of Kemet-Taw and invoked Hesthor to consecrate the oasis waters. He then caused the blessed waters to rise from the oasis and drown the armies of Isfet, sweeping them away and sending their accursed souls to forever drown in the Great River of Hesthor’s realm. 

Despite Naseret’s great victories, Isfet had now formally been introduced to the world in two forms, and as time marched on it would manifest new powers, figures, and forms. The Rah’mun people now lived in a world overrun by Isfet, and the Pharaoh became the figure to keep the balance between order and chaos. Many Rah’muns attribute the rise of Isfet during this era to the constant hardship, infiltration, and attack Rah’mun society faces from the many forces of Isfet. 

Death in Rah’mun society is an intricate matter that appears commonly in cultural mores and practices. The Rah’mun faith acknowledges two Gods that are over the process of death, burial, funerals, and the underworld which is called the Duat: Kambatet, the King of the Duat and brother of Nesahor; and Neshaor, the jackal-headed ferryman of souls and the God of funerary rites, the process of embalming, mummification, and caring for the dead. 

Rah’muns believe one’s actions in life are recorded and reflected in their soul upon death. For Rah’muns, death is not the end of life, but the beginning of a new stage of existence where one’s actions in life are judged by the Goddess Ka’tau and her Forty-Two judges. At the moment of death, Nesahor shepherds the Khnem (soul) through the Duat and towards the Hall of Judgment. Once at the Hall of Judgment the dead meet several Gods, including the personification of Ka’tau, forty-two lesser Gods that provide judgment for all forty-two laws of Ka’tau, Te’uth the God of Wisdom who records the results of the judgment in the Book of Ankh, and Kambatet, the ruler of the Duat. The individual’s heart is placed on a scale alongside a golden feather of Ka’tau which also represents Hesthor’s purity. If one’s sins against Ka’tau represented in their heart weigh less than the feather, they will be granted access into the Field of Reeds to live for eternity alongside the Gods, but if the heart weighs more than the feather they will be consumed by the destroyer Kammit. 

Neshaor may opt to annihilate particularly Isfetian souls himself before their arrival at the Hall of Judgment. Particularly tormented souls receive special treatment from Nesahor’s priests in the process of their burial. Nesahor’s priests include prayers and offerings for the deceased in their coffins to ward off bad luck during their journey in Duat and provoke the mercy of the Gods. In general, all Rah’mun burial rites include prayers to the Gods, known as sarcophagus texts, to entreat mercy and protection upon the passed soul and anyone connected with them during their journey in the Duat. Some coffins have inscriptions of particular Gods and Goddesses upon them, such as Amaunet, Tetu, or Hesthor, to ward off against specific dangers such as tomb pillaging, isfetian magicks, and military conquests that might threaten the integrity of the burial ground. 

The rituals of death also take great importance in Rah’mun culture. Heroes, Viziers, Pharaohs, and figures of great importance in Rah’mun society undergo a different burial process than those of lesser status. These venerated persons are given a special burial in the form of mummification to preserve the body, and they are gifted with greater tombs with grander offerings and more intricate prayers inscribed upon them.

Given their culture’s emphasis on proper burial rites and the narrative of death, Rah’muns take great offense at necromancy, or any art that is fueled by dead organic material such as Vamapires and Blood Magicians. Priests of Nesahor are often called upon to execute their patron’s judgment upon necromancers, undead, the restless dead, and others who would defy the Ferryman’s call to the Duat. 

Rah’mun language is called Kem-ne or Kemne. It is as ancient as Rah’mun civilization and is said to have been created by Te’uth, the Rah’mun God of Wisdom, as a unique way for the citizens of Rah’mun civilization to communicate with each other. It is common to hear both converts and birthright Rah’muns use different variations of Kemne. Dwarvish and Elven Rah’mun converts tend to mix their own native languages in with Kemne, though only to a minor extent, as linguistic purity is also emphasized in Rah’mun culture. Both common and Kemne tend to be the most common languages spoken by Rah’muns.  Here are some of the common phrases and sayings of the language. 

"Leh-iy" - A traditional greeting meaning "hi" or "hello."

"Reh-neb-seneb!" - A friendly greeting, roughly translating to "May you have good health!"

"Em hotep!" - A common greeting meaning "In peace!" or "with peace"

"Senenmut hotep?" - A way to ask "How are you?" with respect to well-being.

"Irem peret?" - A question similar to "What's new?" or "What's happening?"

"Henu nebu!" - An expression of joy and welcome, like saying "Welcome back!"

"Ankh udja seneb!" - Meaning “good to see you again”.

"Em shesemu!" - A phrase used to say goodbye, akin to "Until we meet again!"

"Senebty!" - A simple and informal way to say "Hello" or "Greetings!"

Rah’mun civilization is led by an absolute monarch called the Pharaoh, sometimes also referred to simply as “King.” Rah’mun lore holds that the Pharaoh possesses a divine mandate to govern and that he and all of his agents are directly accountable to the Goddess who personifies the personification of the law of Ka’tau. Some argue that the Pharaoh’s authority flows from the divinity of his own Khnem, establishing him as a deity in his own right. Members of the Pharaoh’s royal family are generally considered to have little political power unless given explicit authority by the Pharaoh or his wife. In many cases, Rah’mun queens have the same authority as their husbands, but they cannot contradict the Pharaoh’s orders in their own rulings. 

Below the Pharaoh in the structure of governance is his Vizier, the highest office to serve in all of Rah’tuma. The Vizier holds supreme authority over all governance and administration matters within the lands of Rah’tuma. He is tasked with being the Pharaoh’s voice to the people and the manager of the Kingdom. He also implements the Pharaoh’s orders, ensures his security, oversees the Rah’mun military, collects taxes, bears the Pharaoh’s seal, executes the enforcement of laws within Rah’tuma and territorial disputes abroad, conducts diplomacy, among other important administrative activities. Any decision that the Vizier makes can be overturned by the Pharaoh, but many Viziers are generally left alone to run the Kingdom while the Pharaoh is left to handle non-administrative matters. In the Pharaoh’s absence the Vizier effectively assumes all powers necessary to keep the Kingdom functioning. The Vizier’s presence in legal disputes, spiritual debates, and daily Rah’mun life allows him to be one of the most cherished cultural icons in all of Rah’tuma. 

Below the Vizier on the Rah’mun political hierarchy is the Nehemtempi Machimoi of the Rah’mun armed forces. This individual is responsible for commanding Rah’tuma’s army at the Pharaoh or Vizier’s will, and overseeing all guard forces throughout the kingdom. 

The fourth and final political authority in Rah’mun society are the Nehemtempi Netjers - high priests in common language. The high priests are in control of their respective temples and play a role in setting both doctrines and norms for the worship of a certain God. They also control all activities within their respective temples including the frequency of rituals, initiation of new priests, transmission of divine blessings upon the deserving, and other consequential uses of their God’s Heka in Rah’mun society. All doctrine and temple activity is subject to reversal by divine decree from the Vizier, or ultimately, the Pharaoh. 

Rah’muns believe that Creation is a product of divine will that is infused with two dual forces: Ka, vitality, and life that flows from that animating principle, Ankh. These two concepts are represented by hieroglyphic depictions of a river and a cross with a curved loop attached to it, respectively. Many Rah’mun Gods and Pharaohs are often depicted carrying an Ankh sceptre or object in their hand, symbolizing their dominion over life in the world. Following this belief Rah’mun culture holds that the only legitimate magical forces are those which flow directly from the blessings of the Gods which is called Heka by most scholars. Heka is a core part of religious worship in both temples and households in Rah’mun culture, and it is also essential to the preservation of Ka’tau and the natural order of Creation. Alchemy is also seen by the Rah’muns as an extension of the natural wonders of the Gods due to its intimate reliance on the divinely-inspired world order. Although uses of alchemy that disrespect the dead or attempt to mimic the Ra’tuhmet’s act of Creation in a grotesque way, like Homunculi, are looked down upon by Rah’muns. 

 The other word for magic in Rah’mun lore which reflects powers that rebel against Creation and the law of Ka’tau is called Hek-binet-Isfet or Hek-Isfe, which translates to “magic corrupted by chaos” or “the power of chaos.” Magicks in this category include those that belong to forces that are considered enemies to the Gods, Creation’s natural order, the law of Ka’tau, or the Pharaoh such as voidal magicks, the powers of the aengudaemonica, magicks sourced from dark or eldritch forces, or unknown powers that contradict the doctrines of Ka’tau. Any magic that degrades the body for power, like blood magic, is also considered starkly Isfetian and is also barred in Rah’mun society. 

For these reasons many Rah’muns frown upon anyone who practices any ‘magic’ except Heka, alchemy, or basic mana manipulations that fail to contradict their ethics. The penalties for practicing Isfetian magick in Rah’mun society range from floggings, being cleansed of the foul powers by Heka or, in some cases, death. Netjer of Hesthor often rule on which magicks constitute as true Heka or Isfetian, as the Goddess Hesthor is deeply concerned about preserving the worship of purity within Rah’tuma. In accordance with the Rah’mun duty to defend creation, it is common for groups of Machimoi (warriors) to accompany priests of Hesthor to cleanse and purify individuals and places overrun by the influence of Isfetian magicks. 

Rah'muns commonly marry within their social circles, and there is no formal marriage ceremony in Rah'tuma, but the closest thing to a formal ceremony would be to marry in front of a shrine of a god, most commonly the Goddess of Purity Hesthor to ensure a commitment to vows, and have a priest of that god bless the marriage. There is often a contract between the groom and father of the bride during courtship, the contract includes the names, occupations, and property of the couple and their parents, as well as the date of the Pharaoh’s rule. Marriage is considered a sacred bond between the couple and the Gods, the couple would offer gifts to the Gods and exchange gifts with each other. After the couple is officially married, there is a celebration and they move into a home together where they enjoy a feast and entertainment with each other and their families. The celebration can last several days and be big depending on the wealth and status of the newly wed couple. The husband is seen as the head of the household, however the wife can own and inherit property from him. 

The Kingdom of Rah’tuma’s armed forces is called the Hand of Tetu, a reference to sphinx God of civilizational defense who is also consort to Kalthet. The Hand’s primary goal is to stand in defense of all Rah’mun territories, shrines, and sacred sites. They also provide security for members of Rah’tuma’s royal family, the vizier, and other important figures as needed. “Machimoi '' make up the hand’s structure, as do priest-warriors and ultimately the Pharoh and Vizer themselves who assume ultimate command over the Hand. The most important duty of the Hand is its defense of Ka’tau throughout the world. The Hand is known for accompanying Netjer of Hesthor to destroy sites of Isfetian influence around the world, target troublesome individuals, and fight foul forces when they arise. A warrior in the Hand is not simply an average fighter - they are an instrumental part of ensuring all foes of Creation, spiritual or mundane, face the wrath of the Gods.

There are thousands of Gods within the Rah’mun canon, but only a select few of them receive daily worship from the Rah’mun people. Many Rah’muns uncover obscure or forgotten Gods and begin temples for them regularly, so this list is not entirely exhaustive. The more prominent Gods within Rah’mun religion are as follows:

Ra’tuhmet -  also known simply as Ra - the God of eternal sunlight and Creation.

Hesthor - Goddess of Pure Waters and bovine purging.

Kalthet - Goddess of Rah’mun strategy and battle plans.

Ka’tau - Goddess of judgment and the personification of the universal law of Ka’tau.

Tetu - God of Rah’mun defense and protection, consort to Kalthet.

Shab - God of war and the weather of the deserts

Lord Oti - Lord of Eternal Moonlight, protector during the night.

Ahura-Ma - Goddess of Freedom. Sister of Hesthor.

Te’uth - Ibis-heade God of Rah’mun wisdom, the Eternal Scribe, lord of knowledge and the Great Inventor, husband of Ka’tau.

Amaunet - the lady of vitality, keeper of the waters of Ka (life), Goddess of magic (heka). Sister to Hesthor and Ahura-ma.

Ke’tuh - Goddess of divine rainstorms.

Teka-ta - Creator of the Musin and God of field rodents in the holy lands. Husband to Nahiti-te.

Keb - God of quaking Earth, often worshiped to ward away natural disasters and bring stability to Isfetian sectons of the world.

Nesahor - The jackal-headed God of funerary rites, the lord of the dead, and the shepherd of souls. 

Kambatet - Lord of the Underworld, caretaker of souls passed.

Keop - Isfetian God of fear, darkness, and eldritch horrors. Arch-nemesis to the Ra’tuhmet and embodiment of the terrors of the night.

Far from their homeland amid the grainy sands of the deserts, the Rah’mun peoples have settled a mighty citadel to the Gods upon the cliff sides of the west. The mighty lighthouse of Flame rises from the lower levels of the city, it’s light only outshone by the crystal lights shining from the Temple Hesthor, the mighty shrine of purity in all of the West, and the temple of the Ra’tuhmet, whose flaming obelisks proclaim the power of the Eternal Sun over the city.

History:

Rah’tuma is the city of the Rah’mun peoples that exists right outside of Nor’asath overlooking the oceans. The Rah’mun peoples were originally a desert dwelling culture who are devoted to the idea of Ka’tau: the universal law of Creation that holds everything together and demands enforcement. To this end, the Rah’mun people worship Gods who embody different aspects of Creation and conduct various religious and cultural festivals to ensure Ka’tau flourishes throughout the lands. Some Rah’mun cities reflect devotion to a single God, whereas others serve several or all of the Gods in the pantheon. The Rah’muns are also an innovative people, and put great emphasis on wit, invention, and strategy in matters of the world and civilization. Followers of the God Atah are known to invent many structures and tools for everyday use, wartime purposes, and spiritual use. Many Rah’muns in general own businesses in foreign lands and help other civilizations with their own needs through inventions. There is also a strong intellectual core amongst the Rah’mun population, establishing their prowess as intellectuals and thinkers. 

The origins of the Rah’mun peoples are ancient, though formal narratives about their history are often conflicting and inconsistent. The general narrative is that the Rah’mun empire spanned continents long ago, but fell apart around three-hundred years ago after a horrible attack from sorcerers of Isfet [chaos] and their Inferi helpers. This attack scattered the Rah’mun people across several continents, caused their cities to fall into chaos and degrade, and almost resulted in the elimination of the Rah’muns as a whole.

Now, under the leadership of Pharaoh Atemu-Ta, the beginnings of a new Rah’mun empire are underway. The Pharaoh established the city of Rah’tuma in Nor’asath and welcomed all Rah’muns and outsiders who wish to learn more about the way of life of their people.

The city is full of shrines, temples, and statutes to the various deities within the ancient Rah’mun religion of Ka’tau. There are three major temples and shrines within Rah’tuma: the Temple of the Sun, the Temple of Pure Waters, and the shrine of Tetu. The three main Gods praised in Rah’tuma are the Ra’tuhmet, Hesthor, and Tetu. The Ra’tuhmet is the embodiment of eternal sunlight and is also seen by many Rah’muns as the Creator deity of the world. Hesthor is the personification of purity manifest as a white cow woman  bearing a sistrum, pharonic headdress, and a cross of the Ankh representing her authority to cleanse life. Tetu is a sphinx-god who is said to have authority  to defend against supernatural dangers to the Rah’mun peoples such as demons, malign spirits, bad dreams,  voidalists, and other forces that oppose Pharaoh. He is also considered to be a guardian of Rah’mun cities from all potential harms. All shrines except Tetu's are vested with divine authority and distant echoes from the Gods's domains can be heard near them.

These are only a fraction of the Gods known and venerated by the Rah’mun peoples. There are many more deities within the pantheon of Ka’tau that citizens of Rah’tuma are welcomed to worship, and all of them have varying levels of popularity.

The veneration of Ra’tuhmet in Rah’tuma reflects both the namesake of the city and the Rah’muns eternal devotion to the source of Creation. In Rah’mun belief, the sun gives form to Creation, and by the same token it can also eviscerate what does not conform with it. The pure waters of Hesthor wash what is correct but unrefined, and wash away what is completely unclean, both supernaturally and otherwise. It is common to see Rah’muns in the Temple Hesthor drinking the blessed waters of purity to renew their minds and souls. It is also common to see Rah’muns entering the temple of the Ra’tuhmet and casting offerings in his feet or placing them in the donation box.

A common occurrence every few days in Rah’tuma is the ritual of overthrowing Keop which takes place in the Temple of the Eternal Sun. Rah’muns gather together with clay figurines of Keop, a dark figure in Ka’tau religion, and writings of him in tow. Then, lead by a high priest of the Ra’tuhmet, they begin reciting a series of prayers cursing Keop’s name and they proceed to rip up their papers, destroy the clay figurines of their targets in a rather creative way, all while joining the priest in pronouncing prayers against the Dark One. 

Numerous events are held in the Temple Hesthor, including both rituals and sometimes educational gatherings. The priesthoods of Ka’tau rarely prostelytize, though, expecting their flocks to live out their devotion to the Gods in everyday life rather than in mere dogma.

The priesthoods for the Gods, which are known for teaching their priests how to utilize their divine authority in different ways, also routinely recruit interested Rah’muns to their ranks.

According to many Orcish observers, the Rah’muns are a spiritualist culture that worships spirits as Gods and has shamans as priests. While this is technically true, few Rah’muns would ever call their Gods spirits or lessers of any sort - they refer to them as predominant divine forces and see anything else as redundant. 

A growing number of Gods have established groups of champions fighting for them beneath their banners.

Economics and politics

Rah’tuma is a traditional absolute monarchy led by a figure called “Pharaoh.” The Pharaoh in Rah’mun society has traditionally been venerated as a Godlike figure, and is the supreme figure in all matters of interpretation in the Rah’mun religion. He sets religious doctrine and rituals, is considered the voice of the Gods and the ultimate lawbringer of Ka’tau. Pharaoh is also considered to be the one who upholds the balance of the realms by ensuring Ka’tau prevails over the forces of chaos, which adds to his godlike physique.

Despite all political power falling to Pharaoh and his advisors, there is a strict emphasis on freedom in Rah’mun society. Ahura-ma, the Rah’mun goddess of Freedom, demands that practices like enslavement or captivity never be practiced amongst the Rah’muns, and her dictates are held deeply.  

Economically, the Rah’muns are both traders and inventors. On the lowest level of Rah’tuma there is a giant trading area for merchants from all over to setup and sell their wares. There is also a strong emphasis on selling potions, spiritual elixirs, weapons of war, and food in the city. Anyone is free to set up a stall in the Rah’mun market so long as they pay a small fee.

Rah’tuma’s primary currency is mina, though diamonds or pearls and pure salts are sometimes accepted, the latter two representing the dominance of Hesthorian beliefs in the city.

Ka’tau is the organizing principle of all life.  -

What is Ka’tau?

Ka’tau, simply put, is a faith that puts emphasis on the nature of reality and the aspects therein. It is an ancient spiritualist religion once practiced by a set of desert-faring tribes collectively termed the Rah’muns. According to the lore of this ancient faith, all of Creation emerged from a void of vast nothingness upon command of the Lord of the Eternal Sun, bursting into existence upon the growth of a fireball now known as the Eternal Sun. The period from this creation event to now has been governed by what is called “Ka’tau,” the existential principle of order, harmony, and justice. From Ka’tau, Rah’muns believe they can access Heka, or divine magic, and use it towards the ends of defending Creation and strengthening its aspects. Heka is starkly distinguished from the arcane arts and other varieties of magic due to its source, which emerges from Creation as personified through the spirits. As such, Heka is only accessible to the faithful and those duly allied with denizens of Ka’tau through proper spiritual practices.

Ka’tau adherents worship three major figures (named the Divine Three) in order of significance: Ra'tuhmet, Lord of the Eternal Sun; Hesthor, lady of pure waters, preservation, and bovine purging; and Kalthet, lady of Grand Warfare, Rah’mun crusades, and siege machine offensives. There are a myriad of other deities within the Ka’tau faith, but the Divine Three are the most significant aspects of creation. Ka’tau’s rays give rise to life and render it visible; Hesthor’s waters preserve the body in its proper state, and purges impurities and corruptions; finally, Kalthet’s shield and sword protects the Rah’muns from from all enemies in battle. These three entities are ubiquitous throughout Rah’munian mythos, legends, and hieroglyphic writings. They are often invoked when the time if appropriate in daily life in many different ways. During the morning, Rah’munians are expected to bow towards the sun and recite several prayers for Ra’tuhmet’s flames to burn brighter. In addition to that, they use wax figurines to represent their deities and other ritualistic tools, such as incense, water, herbs, and jewels to accompany their prayers. Rah’mun culture is full of a variety of rituals and practices: a prayer for daily cleansing, a ritual of strategy in devotion to Kalthet, and so forth. For the Rah’munians, rituals are a way of accessing Heka, upon which their entire cosmology is based.

The Divine Three

The forces of darkness shall not consume ye, and eternal night will never manifest.” - Prophetic Scroll of Ra’tu, 1:1 

Ra’tuhmet is the spirit of eternal sunlight and solar wrath. According to Ra’humian lore, he is both the originator of the universe and its flaming source. Heka is said to reside within the core of the eternal sun, and only answers the call who first understand Ra’tuhmet’s resolute power. While Heka as a concept far transcends one entity, it presupposes the existence of creation, all of which originates with Ra’tuhmet’s primordial power. One of the most powerful of the three, Ra’tuhmet’s power is the fuel for all of creation; sunlight nourishes crops, wards off the dangers of darkness, is closely related to fire, and makes all discovery in the world possible. By this logic, any denizen of darkness (literal or metaphysical, including the void) is an enemy of Ra’tuhmet. Ra’tuhmet’s second aspect, solar wrath, manifests towards enemies of the light. In Ra’humian lore, Ra’tuhmet goes to war against a nameless primordial entity (believed to be related to a primordial spirit of darkness) called “Keop” whose goal is to consume the light - and by consequence all of creation - to bring about the end of times. It is believed that Keop’s power causes all manner of spiritual corruption. Every night, Ra’tuhmet rides his golden chariot of sunlight into Keop's domain accompanied by Kalthet surrounded by hosts of other spirits and helpers and wages war against Keop and his hosts. Sunrise is associated with Ra’tuhmet’s eternal victory, hence earning him the title “Lord of the Eternal Sun.”   Furious bursts of sunlight, solar flares, stars dying out, all are said to represent some variation of Ra’tuhmet’s fury. 

Daily rituals to Ra’tuhmet include burning black wax figurines of Keop and stomping upon them whilst praying for Ra’tuhmet to prevail over him. Some devotees create pictures of Keop and spit upon them, then trample upon them, or drown them in blessed water while also reciting a variety of curses upon his name. Others create wooden figurines and tear them apart limb-by-limb while reciting some of the same curses. 

In strict lore terms, Ra’tuhmet is considered a lesser of Aztran, and some of the Rah'mun belief about him is greatly exaggerated.

Hesthor, Lady of Pure Waters, Preservation, and Bovine Purging.

“All you bearers of my sacred milken waters of purity must hear this: I am come to deliver your souls from the temptations of all who deny mine waters. The Aengu-daemons, the deceiver Iblees and his machinations, the false idols of the humans, and the tools of Keop shall fall beneath your feet as you call forth my milken purity. Maintain your souls like pools of sacred water that reject all impurities that may assail you. Herd your soul like sacred bovines in a barn and never divorce thy conscience from thine conduct. Drink from these sacred pools, my children, and ye shall never become thirsty.” - Ancient Prophecy of Milken Revelation.

Hesthor is perhaps the second most important figure out of the “divine three.” Whereas Ra’tuhmet births life, Hesthor preserves and cleanses it within her divine milken waters. Some Rah’ums contend she is perhaps more important than Ra’thumet for the mere fact that every ritual and act of Heka must involve an invocation to Hesthor. The Rah’uman culture emphasizes cleansing everything, from one’s self to dwelling places, grave tombs, buildings, religious sights, and even ceremonies before they commence. No Rah’uman can practice Heka without the Cow Mother’s blessing.  

In Rah’uman lore, Hesthor was birthed from a second burst of sunlight that occurred slightly after the initial creation event. This burst of sunlight was made of pure blue fire infused with divine essence which was the purest thing in existence at that time. From that, Hesthor built her domain in the spiritual realm and helped recruit the first men and elves - the initial tribe of Rah’mun, according to their lore - to the cause of purity. She particularly infused her essence into a certain crop of animals in the primitive world which are now known as cows. Initially these bovines were humanoid, bearing features of both elves and men and acting as emissaries of Hesthor’s milken waters. A catastrophic attack from Iblees, however, wiped out most of the humanoid bovines and caused the rest to hide by assuming a purely animal form. Till this day, Rah’muns believe all bovines bear the divine essence of the Cow Mother and they, along with their milk, must be preserved at any cost out of respect to her. Cow milk, pure waters, and olive oil are all sacraments to followers of Hesthor which can be used to cleanse impurities and preserve the soul. 

Whereas Ra’tuhmet is focused particularly on warding off “dark” creatures, Hesthor’s wrath encompasses all sources of impurity and deviant authorities, even those considered “holy” by groups like the Paladins of Xan or the Templars of Malechediael. Having said that, the Rah’muns have historically applied Hesthor to more pressing evils, such as the spawn of Keop, infernalists, necromancers, and other forces destined to corrupt Creation. Indeed, some of the most powerful and vicious forms of Heka are invocations of Hesthor against impure beings. Mythos describes priests of Hesthor conjuring bursts of white spiritual essence in the form of a giant wave or mist encompassing the targets of Hesthorian Heka and striking them with immense, crippling pain or outright killing them. 

Much like Ra’tuhmet, Hesthor also has a unique foe of her own, though he is merely one of many entities who have locked horns with her over the centuries. Kazul, a greater Inferi from the Moz Strimoza, is considered another prominent adversary in the Rah’mun faith along with Keop. Kazul is blamed for the destruction of the humanoid bovines, and is cited as a lieutenant in the forces of the Arch-deceiver, Iblees. He is often depicted as a towering wolf-headed brute overrun with infernal strength, bearing accursed weapons. His armor is described as leaking pools of blood red malflame, the same kind which also appears on his ears and mouth. There are numerous incantations of Heka to use specifically against Kazul, the Inferi in general, and the Arch-Deceiver Iblees, all of which invoke the power of Hesthor in some form.

Hesthor is often depicted as a white cow glowing with ethereal light. She oftentimes wields a crook and flail, which are common cultural artifacts for the Rah’muns. In actuality, Hesthor is a lesser of Scorthuz whose power has waned since the near-extinction of the Rah’muns. 

Kalthet, Lady of Grand Warfare, Rah’mun Crusades and Siege Machines

The enemies of you, my children, may have masses of armies and weapons, but I have vested you with wisdom. With my guidance you shall see the weaknesses of your foes and strike at them at the right time. Kalthet is the patron of grand warfare, rah’mun crusades, and siege machinery. In Rah’mun lore, she is a dedicated ally of Ra’tuhmet in his war against Keop, organizing grand strategies to outsmart and upend the horror’s machinations. Unlike a typical war god, Kalthet’s strength comes in both her strategic prowess upon the battlefield and her use of specific instruments of war, although she herself is a formidable foe throughout different mythos when she must fight directly. Kalthet worship reflects the Rah’muns emphasis on planning over sheer prowess in war. Building siege equipment, spears, and swords whilst beckoning the wisdom of Kalthet is considered a sacred ritual. Every victory in combat is considered a ritual to Kalthet, as is every modest defeat. Kalthet oftentimes appears as a lion-headed woman with a halo over her head who wields a bronze spear and sword. She is sometimes depicted as commanding an army whilst standing behind a set of siege machines. Worship of Kalthet is one reason Rah’muns emphasize purity and intellection over sheer strength. Strength can crush one’s enemy, but intellect can outsmart them ten-times over. Rah’mun texts claim Kalthet will return with the Divine Three to usher in a crusade to wage war the enemies of Creation and their deities permanently from reality. This final event is called the “Ra’Tuh.” Until that point, she grants wisdom to her adherents to overcome the enemy through her wisdom. Kalthet is a lesser of Vulka.

Fallen Deities

The fallen deities of Ka’tau, known as Rek’tugs, are the chief object of scorn amongst the faith’s adherents. These entities are not worshiped except by the most deviant and outcast of Ka’tau. Legends abound of dark magicians - those who pervert Heka - invoking the name of the Rek’tugs in their practices. While there are countless Rek’tugs scattered throughout Ka’tau text, only two are emphasized in daily Rah’mun life: Keop and Kazul. 

Keop

The origins of this monstrosity are unknown, but his presence is ubiquitous throughout Ka’tauian literature. Keop is known as a powerful spirit of fearing the darkness whose express goal is to plunge the world in darkness, making him opposed to the Ra'tuhmet's eternal light. As mentioned previously, Keop is the subject of much scorn from the Rah’muns, being invoked in violent rituals to empower the Divine Three against him. Worship of Keop is quite taboo amongst the Rah’muns and is punished by death, should the practitioner refuse to be cured by Hesthor’s pure waters. Keop is constantly at war with Ra’tuhmet and Kalthet, whereas Hesthor also opposes him but in a less direct manner than the aforementioned. Keop worship includes spreading fear, bringing forth darkness into areas where it does not belong, and other actions that defy the order of reality. It is believed that a select few Keopian priests (shamans) have a direct link with Keop, and take orders from him to spread his will throughout the lands. These particular unknown individuals are called the “harbingers'' and remain specific targets for Ka’tauian priesthood.

Kazul

Kazul’s origins are less opaque, but this figure still excites much terror within the hearts of Rah’muns. Kazul is known as a bloodthirsty Inferi from the Moz Strimoza who, according to legend, is a lieutenant in Iblees’s army. Kazul is said to command his own regiment of lesser Inferi that he uses to terrorize denizens of the world. In Rah’mun legend, he played a role in wiping out the original bovine humanoids who served Hesthor, igniting the ancient rivalry between the two forces.  His chief adversary is indeed Hesthor, who is prophesied to overcome him during the final battle.  Kazul is a lesser focus within the Rah’mun faith compared to Keop, who is seen as an all-encompassing foe, but he is still taken quite seriously. There are several prayers and rituals within Ka’tau specifically directed against infernalist beings like Kazul, most of which are recited daily by practicing Rah’muns. Some of these prayers include requests for Hesthor to eviscerate the infernalists, and others are more involved rituals which involve casting figurines of Kazul and Iblees into pools of blessed water to “drown.” Much like Keop, it is believed that certain dark magicians can commune with and even summon Kazul, and those individuals are considered targets for the faithful.

Rah’mun Principles

Brotherhood is immutable. Do not betray a member of the tribe unless they violate the Ka’tau, or the Heka. In this rare case, bring them before Ra’thumet for judgment. 

Ka’tau is everything; Heka is the essence of everything. Using Heka is tantamount to manipulating creation itself. 

The Divine Three are resolute and come before any other entities. They are the true deities.

Purity is not a preference, it is a requirement. There must be no compromise with the impure or the wicked; Hesthor’s waters consume them.

Prayer is not optional; a true Rah’mun is a praying Rah’mun.

The intellect is much stronger than the sword alone. Allow your mind to guide your sword through Kalthet’s example and you shall never lose.

A Rah’mun is one who recognizes his role as an agent of Creation. 

The impure and the allies of darkness cannot receive the blessings of the Ka’tau.

Ka’tau, not one’s own opinions, is the guiding principle of everyday life.

Keop and Kazul shall fall, as shall their followers. Show no mercy in the war against these forces.
