The Empire would also prefer it to be related to Human lore in some capacity (I can help with the provision of such). Events can be anything, really, from one-on-one interactions and dungeons to massive group PVE battles. The main goal is just that there's an overarching plot or interactions, if possible, so that we get more bang for our buck. A possible event line that may be interesting to the ET at-least is the Vaeyl Order since apparently they were former servants of Horen, which would naturally make the Imperium Septimus their enemy not because we're poaching their land, but because we would think them to be impostors and not real humans.

The old Necromancer felt the disturbance on the wind, he had begun to hear the master’s call and he cared not of what the usurpers did to the invaders. He knew the cold better then even they and had begun preparations for his dark exile to the lands beyond the wall. The robed man made his way down the darkened halls of his lair, he had built this place in secret after he had left Molech’s Folly abandoned after the collapse of the Coven that had once stood against his former teacher. He had worked tirelessly to orchestrate his master’s plan and he would not be stopped, the gods would be thrown off their high seats and the world would be reduced to a desert of bleached bones and wailing souls. All he needed was power, power that could only be obtained in the southern lands beyond the wall. He stopped and placed a hand on a long metallic door, the door opened in an instant and as he stepped through he was met with the screams of those he had captured over the last few months. Most of them were humans from the surrounding settlements, a few were wood elves from the neighboring Dominion. He preferred humans since they were weaker and succumbed to his methods quicker then others but he had learned everything he could from his experiments. He signaled to the skeletal guardsmen around the room and lashed at them with his will, in an instant they began to move around the torch-lit chamber and made their way to the cells containing the prisoners. They withdrew their blades and the screams turned to wailing as the slaughter began. Those who died did not stay dead for long, limbs twitched as dark miasma filled their lifeless bodies and in an instant they rose once again. The zombies filed in line in front of the Necromancer and he smiled at the looks of torment etched upon their slackjawed expressions.

These were not the undead that had previously existed, his research saw to that. Instead, these beings were fully conscious as if their very souls had been forced back from the veil between Ebrietas and shackled to their forms. His will presided over them like a red hot iron and he used it with pleasure whenever he felt the slightest hint of disobedience. They – and by extent, their very beings became his playthings. This was a violation of not just the boundaries of life and death but a secret that if discovered would make him a pariah even among his own kind. To this end, he had to flee. Should they discover what he had achieved, he would risk not only losing the art but the true death itself. His last few remaining years had been spent extending his life and ensuring that his knowledge had been recorded, the rest he spent building an army for his escape.

The necromancer made his way to the surface through a narrow staircase, the small army of the dead followed behind him closely. Upon reaching the surface, his gaze descended upon a group of grave robbers. It was not the dead which made them scream however but the living, dark shapes emerged from around them and the robbers from Pembrokeshire met their grisly end when their throats were slit by red robed assassins. The crimson order, now known as the death guard consisted of the Necromancer’s most trustworthy acolytes, people he had promised power to when times fell desperate and those he had tortured into submission. They kneeled before their master and he raised his fist in response, the eerie fog that surrounded the graves flooded into the corpses that they had created and the former grave robbers lurched to unholy half-life.

Alifer Amice clutched his clawed hand into a fist once more and the dead beneath him began to stir, ancient grave light flooded their eye sockets and they clumsily slumped upright as they stirred the dust of ages. Skeletal fists pounded against ancient coffins. Dirt erupted in showers of grave dirt and ancient skeletons wreathed in fel armor erupted from their ancient crypts to serve a liege once more. Satisfied, the Necromancer ordered his acolytes and began the long trip south while the army of the dead began its ghastly assault upon the living.

Overnight, the Graveyard next to Pembrokeshire would be emptied of their former occupants. This would go unnoticed until the fires began to blaze from Pembrokeshire’s farms, panicked citizens rushed to closed gates and begged for entry only to be cut down where they stood by their neighbors. Horror and confusion consumed the guards, they knew of Molech’s folly and had prepared for the eventuality of an invasion but never had they faced against this. These were not the mindless ghouls they were used to fighting. Instead, these were their friends and family whom they had loved, now turned against them in death. They barricaded the gates, condemning those on the other side to a fate worse then death. It would not be until morning that they would realize the true extent of the horror the dead had wrought.

The dead were no longer anywhere to be seen, homes were burnt to rubble or abandoned entirely, once fertile farmland had been reduced to scorched earth. The guards swiftly removed the barricades and sent patrols to scout out the farmlands. The patrols would not return, not alive. When the patrols finally did return, they quickly found that their comrades had been slaughtered, one of them had their jaw torn off, another had lost an arm and many others had been bitten limb from limb or hacked to bloody pieces, they were held together only by sinew and dark magic. They turned on their brothers in an instant, it was only when they were dismembered and burned that they fell. Shortly after, the sound of roaring siege engines could be heard..

	OOC:

This request is a bit unique as it’s both an event and a “warclaim”. Now ofcourse, when I say warclaim I mean it’s an event where if Pembrokeshire accepts it they risk losing their settlement to the undead forces and Alifer’s cult. They’d be able to warclaim it back anytime ofcourse and with the full ability to retake the settlement if they succeed, so regardless of failure they’ll always have the chance of taking back what’s theirs. The event is tiered and will start off with what happens in the RP section of the post occurring a few hours before the warclaim becomes live. I decided to do this primarily because I find most of the things currently occurring on LoTC to be rather droll right now and want to give players some meaningful RP as well as some good PVE for once. That being said, this entire event will be a mix of PVE and RP with players also being able to side with the cult and play cultists whom will be operating in the backlines to keep the dead clawing at their walls.

	Rules are as follows:

Cultists are not allowed to leave their siege camp, they’re required to keep the dead animated.

Players who die during the event will join the undead hordes and rise again, this includes cultists as well as defenders.. None will be spared. This won’t be a PK and will only occur during the event, afterwhich the character returns to normal with no recollection of what happened. (CT rules)

Catapults will fling necrotic projectiles at the city walls while the cults experiments lash out at the walls with a variety of meat wagons and abominations. When a breach forms, the undead will flood into the breach with the goal of turning everyone inside the city.

The defenders win once the undead have been pushed out of the city and pushed away from the ruined farmlands. Once this occurs, the defenders have to turn on offence and slay the cultists while also destroying the structures they are using to keep the dead animated. Among them will be three champions whom will be given buffs to easily slay the defenders, the champions each control one tenth of their forces and must be defended at all costs from the defenders lest a quarter of their forces be destroyed.

The attackers win if all of the defenders have been slain or turned. This will turn the city into an undead bastion which they will use to launch assaults on the surrounding territories, during this time the land around the city will die and become inhospitable to life. The city will require a siege by the forces of humanity to be retaken.

	1. I may refuse requests that are lore-breaking.

I have tried logging in briefly a few times, but for me it just isn't happening anymore. This is no longer a place for me. But that isn't to stay that I have stopped thinking about the community and universe of the Lord of the Craft. I often wonder what Elindor and his friends throughout the years would be up to now. But whenever I attempt to reconnect with that experience it is a shadow of the past. For two reasons. One is that myself and my character have advanced too far that trivial activity goes against what matters to the character now, and also that the mystery and exhilaration of uncovering your own story within the Lord of the Craft is gone.

When I reminisce of the time when I became hooked on this server there is one thing that stands clearly defined to me. The Antagonist gave my presence on the server meaning. And the reason for this is because the intentions of Iblees were at once mysterious and generic enough that my character could design their own meaning to the war and how they fit into it.

There are many points to do with Antagonists and their place in building a larger roleplay environment, but it is rather like the Brexit. Most people will zealously discuss large world changing points for which they know very little but feel very strongly about, however I have a personal perspective in which there is an undeniable and tangible relationship between the large concept and my own reality. And for Lord of the Craft, the Antagonist permitted me an avenue through which I could discover the world of Aegis in search of understanding. And I feel that without a globally influencing story concept, players are forced into domestic roleplay which relies on friendship groups (alienating newcomers) and quickly stagnates.

	Freely Interpreted

Since then I have witnessed that later attempts to create an antagonist have been largely lead by Event Teams who seemed hellbent on ensuring everyone was made aware of the amazing storyline they had created. There was little to no mystery as most events were saturated in exposition. And while you can't beat the simplest antagonist story ever (Iblees is literally satan) of an Aengul that seeks the destruction of mortals through the corruption of some and the annihilation of all; my sentiments go towards those who do try to resurrect such simple perfection as they inevitably face endless obscenity. However we can still create something that is unique in circumstance while repeating the successful themes of the past. Star Wars blatantly did it, so why not?

So moving forward towards a global enemy that creates as much mystery (without attempting to solve it on behalf of all players) as well as presenting the opportunities for smaller stories that build (rather than retract from) the overall impression of an incalculable opponent... my current suggestion leans upon the next important point.

	PVE For Story, Not Gameplay

PVE is player vs Environment, just in case you aren't fully aware. It stems from such story telling as Indiana Jones in which while his goal appears simple, every step he takes through a forbidden temple seems to provide new opposition. And when I say this I don't mean puzzles or event areas. These are great, and I have loved finding previous event areas in which word puzzles or references were involved, though many event areas end up being intended for one use and forever afterwards are pointless. I mean using existing mechanics of minecraft to help further the independent creation of story.

	Enderman start spawning.

	Walkers of the Plane

Of course we will want to forget about Enderman the way Minecraft has them with the End and their Eyes leading to a portal and all that stuff. However their basic mechanics create an easy platform from which to introduce a playable antagonist that can freely represent itself by spawning naturally, as well as be manipulated for larger scale interactions. Yup. This is the bit where the backstory comes in.

Walkers of the Plane, or Enderman, (because you are in denial if you expect our player base not to put that name upon them the instant they see them) are from a plane of existence not far removed from the Void. Their homeland is endless arid lands of void sky and blemished land in which the occasional fallout from the Void can have devastating affects. A place in which no mortal descendant would find any pleasure living as there is nothing of significance to be found there but dirt.

The inhabitants are a creature possibly birthed from the Void itself, made manifest by mere thought. They are without specific shape and individuality, only the form of a humanoid for ease of living. They communicate by telepathy over line of sight, only using vocal queues by way of bringing attention to themselves for the sake of establishing a telepathic communication. Being no strangers to The Void, all Walkers are adept in Void Translocation as much as a man would know how to use a knife to cut something. So much so that they are capable of stepping into and out of the Void for means of transportation. In many ways they could be far beyond mortal evolution in their society, however their simplicity of life makes them completely without technology. Being telepathic, knowledge is shared through being around one another, and so no desire to extend knowledge exists, nor any means for education necessary. They are incredibly intelligent, and yet incredibly simple. All well and good so long as they remain where they are.

	The Story Catalyses

For whatever reason their land has been tainted.

The Walkers primary diet is of a moss that grows freely upon the soil of their land. They have never grown crops or cultivated livestock, partly because nothing can thrive in the environment of their land, and partly because they value the work of farming and herding livestock as base and crude; the kind of thing animals do to survive. However with the taint spreading across their land the food supply is scarce, and perhaps the taint inherently spread into them also. Regardless, they must branch out in search of other forms of nourishment.

And so The Walkers find their way into the realms of Mortals.

	Enderman as we Know

First arrives the tall and slender simpletons. Because the Enderman in their society have advanced beyond pointless forms of governance, instead unanimously electing a dictatorial leader of the most capable mind in the realm, The Walkers are divided by birth into two class groups: the workers and the thinkers. Workers do that which is required to keep society functioning. Their bodies are more inclined to work. They are taller, slimmer, and their minds are less developed for complex thought. These are the Enderman that are sent to the mortal realm first to find alternate forms of food.

Upon arriving, these Enderman go about sampling all that they can discover, bringing it back to their realm for experimentation to see if it is a worthy food source. Whether mineral, plant, or animal. A conflict arises in that mortals feel themselves far higher in importance than that of a cow or mushroom. However to the Walkers, all creatures that are unable to communicate through telepathic means are grunting simpletons to be subdued and eaten. Not particularly tastily, but if required. And so, on their endeavors to discover, any opposition discovered would naturally be treated with great hostility.

And thus, the first interactions with Enderman are bound to create hostility between races, as no doubt there will be casualties on both sides.

	The Advanced Beings

The Walkers of the Plane that you should be wary of, however, are the shorter ones (players). Their evolution has shown them as superior in mentality, not requiring such physically capable forms in their vocation as thinkers. They basically look like human shadows. The same size and build, but with no features to speak of. These creatures are far more capable of independent thought, and if they were to start emerging in the mortal realm, it means that the laborers have either found something worth investigating, or have faced enough opposition to welcome their wrath.

Player Walkers have little physical ability and in a sword fight will be at a major disadvantage. However they can just as easily step into the Void and emerge elsewhere, flight being their preferred method of survival.

	Why Are You Here?

That all depends on how the masses respond to the presence of these newcomers. While the mortals would be viewed as no greater than cattle, there may be a few among them will telepathic abilities that could realign ill intent to peacefulness. Or, if the reception has been that of hostility, the Walkers may view the mortals as an enemy that requires crushing so that the world can be occupied by themselves. Better still, this cattle could be enslaved by some simple mind control techniques. They have proven to have skills at gathering food for themselves, and are easily influenced to do so for others.

What matters most is how people decide to build their own story. The mystery to be solved is what lies before all players for them to make of it their own adventure. And how it plays out, well... that is or this next generation of Lord of the Craft to decide.

There are of course minor details that can reshape how Walkers can be played which can be decided by staff, or through further consultation with me. If you wish to delve deeper there is much depth to be uncovered in the potential here for simple mechanics and good play, rather than highly moderated dictated backstory. What matters is that all players can find meaning from it and have their experience grown by the presence of an antagonist, instead of a mere disturbance to peace. To be honest I don't care what happens or if the idea of a global protagonist is accepted. I just want to know that the Lord of the Craft will live on beyond its Iblees years.

OOC: This is a prospective event I've worked on and developed a storyline for during the last three days. If this is shown interest, I would approach Staff to see if it can be made possible in LOTC.

{Wip} Enter The Athenaeum

((First off, let me apologize for not using the regular format for this, as I am pitching a story arc instead of a single event, I will try and keep this as organized as possible! Please note, I will only be detailing a rough outline of my concept, and allowing the specifics to be worked out at a later date. Now, without further adieu, I bid you to Enter the Athenaeum...))

Knowledge is like a bird in many ways. It is a free spirit, yearning to spread its vast wings and share its fruits with all who encounter it. But, like all birds, it will soon carry on its way. One may try and clip the birds wings to keep it for a while, but eventually it will leave us one way or another. Thoughts fly from the minds of forgetful scholars like leaves in an autumn gale. Ancient books and scrolls are burnt, lost or forgotten...

Listen now, don't doze off. this is where the story gets interesting. Hidden throughout the land, deep within the texts and writings of every race and culture that wandered these lands, I have found messages. They vary in meaning, form and language, but all hint to the same ultimate goal. The Athenaeum. A vast archive, locked away under many layers and seals, in the darkest, most twisted corners of the land. A cage for these birds of thought, to keep them captive before they take wing. A mausoleum for the wisdom of ancient minds that now lie rotting in the earth. A kind of 'cheat-sheet' if you will, containing all that has been and all that will be.

But I tell you friends, many would kill for this kind of power, for from knowledge comes strength, and more would give their lives defending it. This is where my studies lead me to another, darker discovery. The Chroniclers. The... things... responsible for defending the Athenaeum. They take many forms and, armed with the contents of this vast archive, will stop at nothing to protect it. This is where my research ends. I have given you all I can. The rest lies with the Descendants...

((OOC: A new story line, where everyone of every race can take part in a great scramble to claim the contents of the Athenaeum. Riddles and Mini-events can be done that drop hints that lead to bigger, server-wide events! Humans, Elves, Dwarves, even Kha's and Orcs (at least, those who can read) can delve into ancient tomes and trod the forgotten corners of lost libraries to find out more about this great database of the universe!))

Event Type: Adventure! And maybe a bit of treasure hunting!

Event Date: Sometime in March hopefully, specifics can be worked out later!

Factions/Nations effected by the event: Halflings specificly, but anyone can join if they want to!

Event Location: Gimblewood, right outside Number 4 Shire Street

Summary:

Perdric, a young Halfling training to become a Druid, was tasked by his mentor, Miss Beth the Snow Druid, to grow a plant and care for it. However, Perdric decided it would be wise to give his plant a small treat, a mug of Roxanne's Riot, the strongest ale known to Halfling kind. After pouring the ale on his tiny beansprout, Perdric's plant grew at a prodigious rate, shooting upwards hundreds of meters every day! The alcohol stimulated the growth stupendously, and before he knew it, the beanstalk had pierced the skys and speared a passing cloud, anchoring it in place! (Don't question my logic!) The young Halfling, recalling stories about another young, adventurous Halfling named Hamfast who climed to the clouds and looted treasure from a giant's castle, gathers his friends and elders to climb this great plant-ladder!

Upon reaching the cloud, the Halflings are met with a giant, ten foot Olog named Mrug-Mog, living in a castle on the cloud! The Olog was sent to live on this cloud by the Skygods as a punishment for some long forgotten crime. The Orc has been living on the cloud in his giant castle, for the castle is sized for one of his considerable height! The main room of the castle is a single room, dominated by a large cooking pot with equally large tables and chairs. The tables are covered in a clutter of plates, large knives, fruits, vegtables and cheeses. In the corner of the castle is a giant bed, made of rough cloth and animal pelts stitched togeather.

Mrug-Mog is not the sharpest knife in the cutlery drawer, but is no slouch with the massive stone club he carries, and he eventually rounds the Hallfings up and brings them to his kitchen. The Halflings are put in a large, wooden cage with a very nice view of the large, boiling stewpot! They are going to be eaten! The Halflings must somehow escape by parkouring out of the cage before Mrug-Mog reaches them! If the Olog reaches the Halflings before all are out, then he will put the remaining Halflings one by one into the stew pot! After escaping, the Halflings must somehow trick the Olog into opening the castle door for them to escape!

Well, I am not exactly certain of the scale of the build, so a sepreate server is most likely not necesary, but I would welcome it :)

Do you need the Event Team's assistance?: Shure!

If so, do you require actors and/or builders?:

Builders would be nice, say two or three to work with me, as I'm not a terrible builder!

An actor to play Mrug-Mog would be super awesome!

Several Great Storms Of Athera

Event Planners, MC Names: nathanbarnett36

Event Type: Natural Disasters (e.g. Floods, Massive storms)

Event Date: When ever suitable, this can be an occurring event and happens randomly or in intervals. I feel as this is a roleplay server, we need more natural disasters as their is nothing at the moment apart from Winter which slows down the production of crops. His was a sad story, attacked by a silent ship at sea in the black of night. He rarely spoke about it, he watched all his friends onboard get slaughtered and mutilated, he claims he survived by rolling an empty barrel overboard and floating for three days and three nights till he washed up on a sandy shore. But the image of the ship was still burned into Old Pegg’s mind, he decided to indulge a lucky few one night of the terrors of Athera’s shores. “They come in the black’o night, they’re bold I tells ya, vicious. They don’t got nothin’ the live fer so why should t’ey ‘old back?” he drew a shuddering breath “The Damned, captained by Godwin Owynslaw, their ship’s called the Black Beauty, she’s a fabled ship… I didn’t t’ink she were real…” his voice trails off and he refuses to go on.

The Damned are the crew of the Black Beauty, a motley bunch of Orcs, Dwarves, Humans, Elves and Halflings, they live for nothing but their next meal. They squabble amongst each other, they lurk the coastline at night preying on any that present themselves as vulnerable. Mooring their ship out of sight, a select few will proceed to row to shore and take any possibly victims unaware in a shock tactic. In and out, they move quickly wasting no time, carrying off children, men and women alike, burning houses, farms and store-sheds. These brutal marauders know little fear, they are not very skilled in combat as they rely on shock tactics and fear.

This event may present itself as a one-off type event, or possibly even a string of attacks until some likely heroes can band together and can take control of the situation battling off these brigands and/or finding their ship and destroying it, killing the crew of some twenty pirates.

Concept Images/Screenshots:

Old Pegg

The Ship of the Damned, The Black Beauty

This crew could just appear on a coastline, wander inland until they find a target and then abduct someone or be fought back, a skiff or rowboat should be all that’s necessary for this part of the role-play.
