With the creation of Chancellor, King Godden I of House Ruric has appointed Ser Rodrik of House Ruric as the first Chancellor of the Kingdom of Norland. As newly elected Chancellor, Ser Rodrik of House Ruric will work on improving diplomatic relations with Norland and the other sovereign nations. He will also work on creating improvements for Norland and it’s subjects.

On the 14th of the Snow’s Maiden, the Crown of Norland has deemed it fit to conclude the election of Mayors; Such has been done for multiple reasons, among them the need to “Put the Main Focus for this Great Nation on the Major Issue at hand”, that is, fighting the Kingdom of Renatus-Marna and Their allies...

This election has been deemed to be one of the most popular- and competitive- in Norlandic history, having more than its share of  drama and intrigue. Indeed, this election was as close as it could possibly be, and after a full Ash week of campaigning unyielded, Rodrigo in the end, has managed to emerge victorious by the close margin of a singular vote.

Let it be known to the denizens of Norland and All the inhabitants of Atlas, that Rodrigo is to become mayor of Ruriksgrad, effective immediately..

His Majesty Godden Ruric shall now, with Rodrigo by his side, begin the Most Honorable endeavor of growing Ruriksgrad into one of, if not the Wealthiest city in Atlas.

The second mayoral election of Ruriksgrad has officially commenced. It is time for the denizens of Ruriksgrad to select one from among their own to administer day to day operations of the capital.

There are a few candidates for this position;

Rodrigo

Rodrigo is a man of honor and loyalty, having dedicated many hours to building and improving the already constructed city of Ruriksgrad. He seemingly wishes to improve the economy of the capital, by helping better construct the housing and architecture, as well as by improving the funds that currently lie within the Royal Bank of Norland.

Ceowulf Horen

Ceowulf is the son of the beloved Adalwulf Horen, having dedicated large amounts of his time studying architecture as well as the diplomatic art. He currently holds a position known as “Chancellor of Norland”  Ceowulf wishes to improve the economic stand point within Norland, wishing to improve the homes, farming, and the wealth of the denizens of Ruriksgrad.

Hans Torsten

Hans has had a fascination for languages, having dedicated large amounts of his life time writing up a new Norlandic language, he has the intent to implement it if he gains such a title, as well as improve the government within Norland.

Feel free to interview these men to understand their standings on current matters, they shall be roaming around the city promoting their campaign.

From this day forward the House of Cooper, and the legitimate issue of the Cooper lineage are entitled to the following rights concerning the Earldom of Foldgrad. • Provide the full extent of her levies and militias to the Kingdom of Norland for use in all conflicts.

• Engage in no foreign conflicts without the assent of the Norlandic Throne.

Your current course of action is in violation of the Norlandic code.Your actions in attempting to separate from the Kingdom of Norland and establish your own petty realm are tantamount to sedition. We communicate, with the utmost clarity. Any persistence upon this course will be defined as an act of open rebellion. The House of Silversteed has been a legal and loyal vassal of the House of Rurik since the times of Seahelm. Your oaths of fealty were taken to the late Thomas Rurik, where you bound the house of Silversteed to the House of Rurik. Together the men of White and Black stood with the men of Red and Black, through the storms, the sun and the hail. Yet it is only now that you betray your homeland in pursuit of your own foul ambitions. A man fleeing from a realm that has held him dear and cherished him for so long. In this vein we convey our most sincere disappointment, and our sincere sadness. It pains the crown to see an old friend of the family entangled in such a web. We of Rurik, thought the men of the Silver horse were made of sterner stuff. Pleasantries aside, you have a single saints day to make your intentions known. As of the 12th of the Amber Cold we, the Kingdom of Norland does formally ally itself with the Princedom of Leyulin. To formally seal this alliance the Norlandic Prince Orvar Rurik, chief of the Freyssons shall be betrothed to Meredith Friedrich. With this formal union we declare the union of our two houses. The Kingdom of Norland acknowledges the sovereignty of the State of Leyulin and asserts the rightful claim of Prince Kairn Calithil. The Kingdom of Norland shall render aid unto the Ceasing Restrained in their assertion of their most righteous claim. The Kingdom of Norland stipulates that the Ceasing Restrained shall refrain from any aggressive action towards the Warhawke and Snow Elven peoples without prior instigation.

In exchange the Ceasing Restrained shall come to the assistance of the Kingdom of Norland in conflicts, both defensive and aggressive as long as they do not affect core allies such as the Reiters. This alliance shall last for the duration of the union between Prince Orvar and Meredith Friedrich.

Following the sack of Vjorhelm and the fall of the unbreakable Krag Fortress the people of Norland were left with an ultimatum. Bend the knee, or see your fields salted, your cities burnt and your families rendered unto corpses. Thus, as of the the 14th of the Sun's Smile 1641, I Jory Eiriksson Rurik do declare fealty to Aurelius Canonius Horen. As such the Kingdom of Norland does render itself a vassal of Renatus. The vassalage of the Kingdom of Norland is established upon the following terms with the Renatian Throne.

The Kingdom of Norland shall

• Render fealty unto the rightful monarch of Renatus

• Practice its own faith free from prosecution by the Renatian Throne

• Retain its authority to legislate and pass judgement within the confines of its own borders

On the 11th day of Summer 1641, his majesty Jory Eiriksson Rurik was chosen by the Chiefs, Thanes and Lordlings of the Cliffed Kingdom. On this day we of the Ashen Council and the Hearth Council do proclaim with a unified voice that Jory Eiriksson Rurik is to assume the Thorned Crown of our sundered realm. In recognition of the cataclysm which tore our realm apart at the behest of the Ashling we do bestow upon him a new Thorned Crown. While the crown of old was crafted from the shards of Seahelm’s mighty Trunk, this Crown shall be made from the shards of Vjorhelm’s own shattered tree. Thus Jory is to never forget the actions of the usurper, who split our realm apart and condemned it to fire and ash.

In rejecting the All Father the Ashling brought down the All Father’s fury, his folly shall never be forgotten. Henceforth the Kingdom of Norland asserts that the All Father’s light dwells within the hearts of all of its people. Furthermore the Ashen council does formally acknowledge the sacred authority of the Holy Heart in sacred matters. Thus the Holy Hearth does bestow the following sacred titles upon Jory Eiriksson Rurik. Jory Eiriksson Rurik is declared as the of Defender of the Faith. He is charged with ensuring the safety of the Brotherhood, the faithful and all of the All Father’s Holy Hearths.

Unlike the Ashling who rejected the result of his own moot. His majesty invoked his sacred right as a male of Rurikid blood and called the ancient tribes and clans to moot. Here he stood amongst his brothers and made his case for his brothers. Calling for an end to the war and bloodshed that had plagued his predecessors, that he may bring about a new age of Norland. An age of faith, an age of growth. The vote was unanimous with each of his brothers abdicating their claim in favour of Jory’s assumption of the Crown. Having been legally chosen from amongst the eligible by the chieftains, lordlings and thanes of the realm. The following secular titles are bestowed. Jory Eiriksson Rurik is henceforth to be styled as King of Norland. Jory Eiriksson Rurik is henceforth recognized as the chieftain of Eiriksson clan. From this day until his dying day, Jory Eiriksson Rurik will reign as the 10th King of Norland and her peoples.

All eyes turned to the road, as the twin iron gates were lifted. Through them rode in two rows the honor guard, each holding aloft the banners of the red and black.

Javier marched back to the Norlandic capital of Vjorhelm, after having gathered many Norlandic Militias to aid Norland in a war. He dismounts, and walks to the throne room, his armor as black as the void, many furs covered the surface of his armor, his appearance grizzled, and skin aging, He then stops. He looked at the man upon his throne, it was his son, Jevan Ruric, with the Jarls and Knights of Norland devising battle plans on how to hold the Krag. Javier walked up to where his son sat.

“For once you are doing something without my instructions, my reign has come to an end”

Javier set the crown upon the edge of a nearby mantle. The flames beneath it seemed to crackle in a nervous blaze. The Gold of the crown seemed to reflect the eyes of dozen men, who watched the crown be removed. The crown had been removed for all to see, and in that moment, the fate of Norland rested upon that mantel.

Javier looked at his son, pride within him. He nodded to the gathering, before turning on his heel and heading upstairs. Perhaps this was the beginning of the end for Javier the Undefeated, he who had carried Norland out of it’s dark days on the brink of destruction. A moment passed and Jevan stood, walking to the fireplace where the crown rested. He took it in his hands, and then placed it upon his head.

There was no cheer. There was no battle cry. The room was silent, for they all knew this was not yet the coronation. They all knew what trials were yet to come. Jevan looked on at those who had gathered before him this day. He took a deep breath, and slowly ascended the stairs to the throne once again. Jevan took his seat, and spoke his first words under the crown.

“Shall we begin?”

I, Jevan Ruric, High Prince of the Kingdom of Norland and heir to the Thorn Crown hereby release this communique, as the first action of what shall be the beginning of a better Norland.

It has come to my attention, the ever increasing threat of the Red Faith. The faith that follows the All Father. In recent months Arthas Ruric, and his zealot supporters, have begun traveling the Isles, in the hopes of converting the people to the Red Faith. On it’s own, this is innocent enough, as this was the actions of an individual not sanctioned by the Crown. However, it has come to my attention that this process of finding potential converts has become more and more violent. This shall not be tolerated. Norland has forever stood in stark opposition to the Orenian Empire, founded on the principles of freedom, and tolerance. We shall not become what we sought to destroy.

Arthas Ruric has spearheaded this assault on the peoples of the world. No individual should ever fear for their lives based upon their faith, or lack thereof. This contest of civilization against barbarism ends here. Arthas has condoned the use of violence, even in the lands of our allies. The rolling hills of Santegia, the grand halls of the Frostbeards, the deep woods of the Warhawkes, have all endured the threats of Arthas Ruric. He is a disgrace to the royal name.

I, Jevan Ruric, hereby remove the Red Faith as the official religion of the Kingdom of Norland. Never again will Norland tolerate hatred founded in religion. Norland will from this day, until it’s last, be a free religious state.

The temples of the All Father shall be torn down, stone by stone. In their place, the Kingdom of Norland shall create a singular temple, one of blank stone, where any religion can be practiced. We take great inspiration in this regard from the Kingdom of Santegia, who have always been a beacon of free exercise in this world. All citizens of Norland, and all those who enter our lands shall be able to privately practice their faith, however, any attempt to force another to join a certain religion is henceforth banned. To do so is punishable by death. Additionally, Arthas Ruric, and all those who claim to be a high priest of the All Father are from this day forth stripped of their power and title from within the Kingdom of Norland. The “codes” of Norland, are henceforth declared illegitimate. Norland, with the help of it’s people, and the Ashen Council, will create a new set of codes, codes that represent our people today. The number of citizens who actually believe in the All Father, are very few, and therefore we shall never again create laws based on the wishes of the All Father. I declare that Arthas’s attempt to deny my birthright to be beyond his power, and therefore a illegitimate action. Finally, the title Keeper of the Flame, which was written into the original document on the function of the Ashen Council, will no longer be a titled position on the council. No religion will be represented by the council.

To our Allies, I Jevan Ruric, alongside Ser Avalon Silversteed, Ser Edward, Jory Ash, Jorvik Ash, and the people of Norland, humbly apologize to our allies, who have stood with us for so long. In our great allied victory against Oren, we the people of Norland have become arrogant, basking in a glory that is far from ours alone. Oren was destroyed not by Norland. It was destroyed by an idea. An idea that perhaps there is something more than tyranny, than oppression. In our efforts to destroy the monster, we have begun to look like the monster.
