THE NEW IMPERIAL BRIGADE SYSTEM

It is the Constable’s understanding that many of the Empire’s noble and numerous vassal forces do, from time to time, find themselves in a place of struggle and failure, if not outright impoverishment. While the Empire has long sought to remedy this through a multitude of systems such as the unintuitive Legion system, little has it succeeded. The Constable has drafted the Brigade and Squadron provisions to provide a more permanent solution.

THE RIGHTS AND EXPECTATIONS OF ENNOBLED MILITARIES

• It is the right of landed nobility to provide and maintain a levy

• It is the expectation of all landed nobility to provide at the least:

  • Five-Hundred troops from a Barony (5 Troops average at any given rally)

  • One-thousand troops from a County (10 Troops average at any given rally)

  • Two-thousand troops from a Duchy (20 Troops average at any given rally)

  • ((One-day alts will NOT be accepted for these requirements.))

• These expectations are subject to change should the Closed Council deem the circumstances fit

• Failure to meet these expectations will result in a Noble Banner receiving a series of warnings before being designated as “Recommended for dismantling or integration” by the Lord High Constable, a designation suggesting to the Emperor that nobility be demoted or dismantled and liquidated entirely, or integrated into the Crownlands as the Closed Council feels fit.

• It is the rightful domain of the Johannic Crownlands Brigade to have exclusive recruitment rights within the Imperial Capital

• It is the right of forces risking designation for dismantling, as well as forces who cannot provide for themselves, to apply for Brigade Status

BRIGADE AND SQUADRON STATUSES- Provincial forces

Brigades and Squadrons are forces who have joined Imperial Ranks to avoid collapse and failure. They will receive different titles for their status. Protocols are as follows:

• Forces of more than one-thousand troops are Brigades. I.e: The Duchy of Frisia has integrated into the Brigade system with One-thousand, five-hundred troops. They are called: The Frisian Brigade.

• Forces with one-thousand troops or less are designated as Companies I.e: The County of Frisia has integrated with seven-hundred troops. They are called: The Frisian Company.

• Provincial forces have the right to request supplies from the Constabulary; Provincial forces are guaranteed to be supplied at the same rate as the Johannic Brigade.

• Provincial forces DO have the ability to recruit in the Imperial Capital. However, new recruits will have to be documented and officially assigned by the Constabulary.

  • In rare situations (provincial investigations, war-time, etc.) The Constabulary may hold those recruits for training.

• Provincial forces are expected to rally and train with the Johannic Brigade and the Constabulary

  • In extreme situations, this requirement will, of course, be bypassed.

• Provincial forces will operate according to the Lord Constable’s rulings. These include:

  • The Constable’s Chain of Command

  • The Constable’s direct orders

  • The Brigade’s standard system of ranks

• In the event of collapsed or folded lords, their remaining peerage will be consolidated into a Brigade, overseen by the Constable and his assistants.
