In our lives, sometimes these waves of work or stress roll in that make IRL a much larger priority for us. For this past month-and-a-half, the waves were really rolling in for me, and I found myself wishing I could clone myself so I could still be around to help make LotC a better place.

But then I realized something about my mentality, and one of the reasons why I become so inactive on the internet sometimes.

I. The Problem

I often become so obsessed with maintaining high production quality in my work that if I can't manage to make something absolutely amazing, or say something absolutely amazing, or do something absolutely amazing, I should just save my energy and create, say, and do nothing at all. I've set such a high expectation for myself that it's easier to just do nothing than it is to attempt to reach the expectation!

Those of us with this mentality tell ourselves, "Not creating at all is better than failing to create our best work."

As IRL stuff piled on, this mentality was one of the factors that contributed my inactivity this past month too. I would tell myself, "Not being around for this community at all is better than failing to be the best I could be for this community."

Despite its intention, this mentality is self-destructive, and easily traps a person in exactly that: a state of... just doing nothing at all. Often for extended periods of time! This is fairly common among artists, and honestly I think it's the part of my persona that holds me back the most.

II. The Solution

I think the new standard we should hold ourselves to is this – even when we don't have the inspiration to create or do or say something great, the moments when we're just feeling "okay" or even plain feeling bad or uninspired are still worth sharing. I believe it's a part of humanity, and we all go through it, and that alone makes it important. 

I'm saying all of this so that if anyone else out there finds themselves becoming inactive, or not creating or doing as much anymore because of this mentality, know that you could end up waiting forever for your best work, or your inspiration. When it comes, it comes, but when it isn't there, it's still just as important (if not more important) to continue creating, to continue doing, and continue putting yourself out there. You mean a lot more to your community than you might think – you guys really helped me realize this.

So with or without the Community Manager tag, I want to continue doing what I had been doing to contribute to LotC. As I pick back up again, I intend to continuing streaming LotC, LotC Talkshows, and posting videos or discussions with all of you.

Haelun’or is in ruin. With almost 6 years of ‘nation status’, the Silver State was one of the most persevering settlements and communities we have had on Lord of the Craft. Haelun’or began as a community project in late Aegis, taking form in early Asulon thanks to intelligent, mature and hard-working High Elves. The lore and culture they created forged an extremely strong foundation for future generations of High Elves to build their version of Haelun’or on. This is a thank you to the High Elven vanguardists creating the lore and building the first Silver City. This is also a thank you to the High Elves who successfully built and kept Haelun’or alive the following 8 (!!!) maps.

It is however very obvious that Haelun’or lost its sparkle down the path. Issues with stability and activity has long existed (which is true for all nations and settlements), but it’s downfall has somehow always been able to be saved by nostalgic and passionate High Elves. This time, it didn’t work.
 

There are many threads truly worth giving a read for a feeling of High Elven RP, but no thread more than our beloved (dead) Tradition and Silver thread. Hopefully it will be updated soon (!).

Tradition and Silver

What happens next? The death of the nation Haelun’or is a fact. We have lost nation status and our plot. For many High Elves, this was for the better. Like I said above, Haelun’or had for long lost its sparkle and a proper restart would perhaps be beneficial. I personally think the pugsy-ing of the nation was a bit too far, but being put in this situation forces us to re-think, re-structure and improve some inefficient parts of the settlement. Haelun'or is gone, but High Elven RP is not.

Before anything else is announced or started, we have some thinking to do. Many of you have certainly come into contact with High Elven RP and from you, I ask for genuine feedback on what we have had going. We have had many discussions internally, but I think we need additional inputs from other sources. I welcome responses on the thread, but also discussion and inputs over Discord (Ankan#7215).

How can High Elven RP be made more interesting and unique, while still not having too high of a threshold for new players to engage in it?

How do you think High Elven RP should be structured in the future? Guild? Freebuild settlement? Part of another nation?

Tofuus is the one who made the mistake but he is in the process of fixing it. Will edit this when the city is restored.

UPDATE 1:

The city is back but it is half completed because the entire city was built in survival and the rollback is more than 20 days old.
A lot of our storages are erased because we moved everything from the old city to the new city.

Freebuilds in a large area around the capital have also been completely ******* removed.

If anybody can guess the round, the winner and how it ends I'll make them a skin of whatever they'd like.

I consider myself a simple man. I wake up in the morning, unwrap my Tythus LTD. Brand Breakfast Cheeseburgers, drink my Tythus LTD. Brand OJ, and sit in my La-Z-Boy LoTC Game Moderation Chair, with built in ass support for all the inevitable butthurt my weak, pathetic, body and mind suffer every day as I abuse my PEX and lord my internet powers over powerful chads and alpha males I would have no hope against in the real world. Day in, Day out, I disregard my family, my girlfriend, my own body, and my classes so that I may “Better” LotC with my amazing moderation skills. By banning people, it gives me such sheer joy and ecstasy it far surpasses any drug in the modern world. Being able to sit in my chair, living such a sedentary lifestyle in which I can FEEL something in the darkest pits of my soul is truly gratifying. So I thank you, Gamers, for allowing me to lord over you and abuse you.

But when, someone has the GALL, AMBITION, and MANHOOD THE SIZE OF OLYMPUS ITSELF, and challenges me. I can’t help but shy away.

All the terrible things I’ve done. All the terrible things I’ve said. It’s finally come full circle. I fear for my peaceful life of banning players left and right, getting all sweaty and riled up on the thought of being able to /ban anyone I please. I have been asked to leave by the true MEN of LotC. They have finally risen up against my tyranny and I simply find myself TREMBLING and QUAKING IN FEAR at the thought of being slaughtered like the pig I am. 

So it is with a heavy heart and virgin body, I say I must leave LotC.

I see a lot of people in the comments and discord chats saying "haha pvp community only has so little votes compared to rp! we win haha" but you don't take into concideration that a lot of PvPers also actively RP and so chose the 3rd option. So if you are going to use this post as an argument for  "pvp only has such and such numbers" do note that people who chose the PvP option and RP option are the people who only do that one thing. There are many who actively practice both so take that into concideration

Really now? This is just a new level. So the Imperial Military cannot wear the colors of the Imperial House.. 

Sorry Mr.GM perhaps you should read up on your military history a bit. And realize that Military Armbands are pretty regular around the world.
