Spoiler

I'm sorry but this lore has been denied.

The main reason for this is due to the anguel's minuscule following, providing a GREAT deal of strength to a very small group -- furthermore, another itheral like creature does not seem to be supported by the lore team. More on the topic, the transition described is also mechanically impossible - as switching from spectre to a descendant race cannot be accomplished via our current racial system.

I don’t like to be hostile, especially from the get-go, so understand I say this with complete respect for the Lore Team as human beings, but I’m not entirely sure how to address this. I guess I can start with… Did the Lore Team actually read the lore, or did they deny it because they’re tired of seeing attempts for followers of Yeu Rthulu to get boons? I shall quote sections of the lore where each issue was addressed:

  1. Yeu Rthulu’s followers are miniscule, thus granting them power is ridiculous.

Under the OOC section:

If this lore is accepted, I plan to try to get a copy of the Strictures in the Cloud Temple Libary (If there is one by the time this is accepted.) and then allow anyone to get a copy/read it and write it down, follow the strictures, make a creature application, and become an Augur. No guildlocking, not waiting to be taught, none of that BS. I want to make this as open as possible. Someone want to play a goody-goody floaty critter? They can. And they don’t need the slightest interaction with yours truly.

Not to mention Augurs have almost exclusively aesthetic boons. In combat (which, by principle, they avoid at all costs), they are screwed by all forms of weaponry, quickly becoming destroyed by a few quick strikes. So, no, they aren’t provided a “GREAT deal of strength.” More strength is offered to normal ghosts, and those, just like Augurs, don’t need a guild affiliation. Instead of thinking of these as a guild, think of them as weakened holy ghosts. Oh, and they cannot cast magic.

2) Another Itharel-like creature does not seem to be supported by the Lore Team.

The response to this is, essentially, the entire lore, but for consistency I’ll quote this:

Augurs do not to fight, and will only fight if they’re directly being attacked, and react in self-defense (where their goal is usually simply to pacify or disarm their opponent, rather than hurting or killing them) or if one is clearly endangering, or harming genuinely innocent individuals. As the latter is genuinely hard to discern, many Augurs may choose to simply watch and judge whom is infact in the right or wrong, and then try to solve the problems once combat has ended.”

The issue with Itharel was that they are super-powered sociopathic hooded holy Spartans that smack down dark beings with ease, and provide no other RP other than killing dark things. The only link between Itharel and Augurs is that they are both beings that are fueled by their patron Aengul. Other than that, they are entirely different: Augurs provide purely aesthetic, spiritual, magical, social, and exceptionally unique roleplay, only resorting to combat when thrust into it and there is no other alternative but to fight.

Besides, if Itharel-like creatures are truly so abhorrent to the Lore Team to deny something that smells even remotely of them, then why are Keepers still a thing? They are literally the Itharel of Xan, and provide the same kind of RP: killing stuff.

3) The transition described is also mechanically impossible - as switching from spectre to a descendant race cannot be accomplished via our current racial system.

This is the one that makes it blatantly obvious the lore wasn’t read, besides skimming the introductory paragraph. Under the OOC section:

I myself would personally like the Augurs to make use of both the Specter race and the use of personas. A player would be able to have an separate persona for the Augur, which would be under the specter race, and the original persona of the character who transforms to an Augur. This would allow one to be able to switch mechanically as they would RPly.

That’s all. Please do Quav the courtesy of actually reading his lore before denying it. Thanks!

The Augurs of the Aengul Yeu Rthulu

qC6ghfJ.jpg

The Augurs of Yeu Rthulu are the followers of Yeu Rthulu blessed with transforming into a nigh spectral like creature held together with the power of the Aengul Yeu Rthulu.

What are they?

Augurs are creatures that are made via the power of both a willing and dedicated Descendant and the Aengul Yeu Rthulu. The body of an Augur is composed of a weightless, glowing corporeal substance, akin to a form of loose mercury or water, forming gentle curves and long sweeping tendrils off its back, with plates of this substance compressed together to form soft, metallic armor akin to gold along his arms, hands, body, and head. An augur has no feet, instead floating gracefully above the ground. The rest of its body is held together tightly with the golden metal plates, with it’s head being the most densely covered. The Augur, due to its body being powered by Yeu Rthulu herself, is no longer burdened with the need for food and drink whilst in it’s glorified form. When in Descendant form, it will need to eat and drink. The player should keep in mind these are the only consistencies with Augurs; you are free to add any other aesthetic traits to them, be it the sounds they make, their voices, their names

Whilst the Augur’s body is completely different from it’s previous, the Augur may return to its descendant form through a ritual nearly identical to the ritual that brought it to it’s glorified form.

The Change to an Augur

Augurs begin simply as standard mortals who attempt to follow the Aengul Yeu Rthulu and her strictures full-heartedly. The mortal through his time following the strictures if called to, will feel an urge to help others, a deep and genuine urge to see that other’s lives are made better. As this begins, the Aengul Yeu Rthulu will aim to make a connection with this individual, and after a few months of this connection will urge the individual into a time of prolonged meditation and prayer. This may be as small as a few hours, to a couple days, yet after the end of the period the mortal will go into a deep sleep like trance that lasts between ten to twenty IRL minutes, unable to be woken or communicated to for a period of time, before with a flash of light blooming into an Augur.

In the form of an Augur, the descendant is freed from his anger, genuinely not being able to feel anger or hatred or malcontent. Instead, their hearts and minds are filled with goodwill and kindness, wishing to share their newfound joy and love.

Augur act as bastions of hope and kindness wherever they live, and though their demeanor greatly changes from that of a normal mortal, their minds are still their own, and each Augur is still themselves, albeit without their anger.

Augurs do not to fight, and will only fight if they’re directly being attacked, and react in self-defense (where their goal is usually simply to pacify or disarm their opponent, rather than hurting or killing them) or if one is clearly endangering, or harming genuinely innocent individuals. As the latter is genuinely hard to discern, many Augurs may choose to simply watch and judge whom is infact in the right or wrong, and then try to solve the problems once combat has ended. As such, Augurs will not take place in wars or raids between mortals, even under dire circumstances.

Two augurs who find themselves at odds with each other, however, will never resort to physical violence, even if an augur is seemingly attacking someone who seems innocent, as they share and understand that everyone has a reason for what they do, and that surely another augur’s reasons would be just as pure as his own.

Returning to Descendancy

As a Descendant may turn into an Augur, an Augur may turn back into a Descendant. The Augur must repeat the same process in which it gained its glowing form, losing itself to meditation in prayer, in which it shall enter into a deep, vulnerable sleep. After a while, they will be illuminated in near-blinding light, which will subside to reveal the Descendant in their original form. Upon awakening, the Descendant may repeat the process, and return to his glorified form, and back again indefinitely.

One cannot count themselves all lucky that they can return from their ghostly form, as in returning, the descendant would find that he still cannot validly feel anger. Instead, frustration, deep sadness, melancholy, horrible bouts of sleep paralysis, nocturnal and waking seizures will grip the individual. Those wishing children will find themselves terribly wounded as any who’ve gone through being an augur will find themselves 100% infertile, and unable to conceive a child.

An Augur’s life will be long, as their body is held together by the Aengul Yeu Rthulu. Though they still age, their aging is slowed, and their bodies remain well and healthy long past their natural lifespans, both in their glorified and Descendant form. Their mind, however, still ages, to the discretion of the player.

Augurs in Combat

HeSG7k4.jpg

In the rare happening of an Augur being forced into combat, they’re both at advantage in some ways, yet at disadvantage in many other ways. As an Augur’s body is made similar to that of a ghosts, normal slices at the translucent parts of its body will have little effect, yet blows aimed for the plates of it’s body (namely the head) will wreak havoc, and effectively kill the Augur, who would disappear in a flash of smoke and light.

Gold (despite not harming them to the touch like ghosts) will rend the body of the Augur quite effectively, tearing through and ripping their body with incredible ease. Fire is also avoided by Augurs, for although it does not directly damage it, it tortures the spectres, filling their entire bodies with pain and agony. If one wished to contain or ward away an Augur, fire would be the best means to do so.

Likewise,  Fi magic intended to cut the connection with the Augur’s patron will immediately cause the Augur to faint until the connection is made again after the Fi mage has finished casting, both in its in Descendant and glorified body form.

GREEN AND RED LINES

Green Lines:

+Get to play as a specter race.

+Can float.

+Don’t need to eat whilst in Augur form.

+Are glowy, and have a unique, aesthetically-pleasing design.

+Are a tad bit resistant to damage due to the Specter buff.

+Extended lifespan.

+Touching gold doesn’t hurt them.

Red Lines:

-Cannot fly, only float.

-Has to be aligned with Good, and ATTEMPT to follow the Thirty Strictures.

-The change from an Augur to Descendant takes around ten to twenty IRL minutes to complete, so it cannot be used as an attempt to protect themselves from attacks.

-Is left vulnerable when changing.

-Is wrecked by Gold.

-Is wrecked by Fi Magic.

-Is wrecked by blunt weapons.

-Is wrecked by headshots.

-Is tortured with fire.

-Must attempt to follow the Thirty Strictures.

-Cannot raid or take part in warclaims (defending or offensive).

-Descendant form has massive problems.

-Cannot have babies (to keep people from  making weird half-holy babies).

-Can use voidal magic in descendant form.

-Physically cannot get angry (but do suffer other negative emotions).

-Takes up two Persona slots.

-Will permanently lose Augur status if going against Red Lines.

OOC: How do you plan this to be implemented? Transforming from human to… augur?

I myself would personally like the Augurs to make use of both the Specter race and the use of personas. A player would be able to have an separate persona for the Augur, which would be under the specter race, and the original persona of the character who transforms to an Augur. This would allow one to be able to switch mechanically as they would RPly.

OOC: Why Specter Race?

There are currently very few making use of such a fun, and mechanically interesting race, and nearly all of them either seem to be staff, or 100% locked in creatures. I would love to open this up to new people, especially with something that’s so different from the current creatures that go under the Specter race.

OOC: Losing Augur...ness?

If one were to break the limitations set as being an Augur, they can be reported, and permanently lose being an Augur. RPly, Yeu Rthulu would disconnect from the nasty individual, and they’d lose the ability to transform into an Augur. This means OOCly having to delete your Augur persona.

OOC:Why would Rthulu make these?

The aengul  uses its power as to enlighten those that come seeking it, to relieve them from their anger and hatred, and turn them into literal ambassadors of her will. Living examples of the joy and freedom the strictures give. Likewise, the form of an augur is a fair bit durable, and will help keep the few followers she has, and will have in the future from such an easy demise.

OOC: How to become an Augur

If this lore is accepted, I plan to try to get a copy of the Strictures in the Cloud Temple Libary (If there is one by the time this is accepted.) and than allow anyone to get a copy/read it and write it down, follow the strictures, make a creature application, and become an Augur. No guildlocking, not waiting to be taught, none of that BS. I want to make this as open as possible. Someone want to play a goody-goody floaty critter? They can. And they don’t need the slightest interaction with yours truly.

Lore under review.

Fortunately, after a re-vote the LT has decided to grant this lore a trial run of two months.

However, you're required to present consistent activity alongside viable RP presented to the players. This can be done via taking screenshots, the LT individually conversing with each member of your group, and more; it is also worth noting that a couple members of the LT expressed that these creatures are somewhat weak and thus they may need a buff, however, such a matter can be discussed through PMs or come the conclusion of the trial.

Lore has been shelved and moved to the appropriate subforum. This is part of our movement to shelve creatures that are either inactive or have been deemed unnecessary. This is a soft shelf and people with a CA will still be able to play their character, however no new creatures tied to this lore may be created. If you have questions about why this specific lore has been shelved, please contact me via forum PM or over discord at Flamboyant#8856
