Founding

The Irregulars, as they are informally referred to, were conceived when a collection of seasoned soldiers joined together to form a company of mercenaries in the service of the various factions of the Empire. After denouncing the exceedingly high cost of the knightly destrier, the Irregulars adopted an entirely different style of combat from the popular cavalry skirmishing. The Irregulars decided to entirely forgo mounted warfare and to focus entirely on the defeat of cavalry units. The Irregulars chose the pike as their specialized weapon, and the anti-cavalry formation known was the infantry square, or hollow square, emerged as their primary tactic on the field of battle.

The role of the 1st Switzer Regiment of Foot

Is to provide quality infanteers -who specialize in anti-cavalry warfare- to fulfill a contract of arms at home, abroad or on the field of battle. Each Switzer is regimented under the contract that binds them and is obligated to fulfill their duties until death or contract end. 1st Switzer Regiment of Foot does not work solely for money and personal gain as solo mercenaries are too commonly stereotyped as doing. The regiment, instead, is loyal to the length and terms of the contract that the Regiment's CO signs, regardless of how much is paid or if there are better contracts offered. Disloyalty and treason is punished severely, and is arguably a worse offense in this Regiment than any others out there. The stereotype that mercenaries are disloyal and will leave you for someone who pays higher is false, and 1st Switzer Regiment of Foot lives to prove that.

Command Structure

The Irregulars adhere to a loose hierarchy of command. Their experience and social status as commoners has led them to hold these facts in common creating a jovial and casual atmosphere between the various ranks of the Irregulars.

Captain

Commander of the Irregulars, he is responsible for leading the regiment in battle and responsible for securing and creating contracts of employment.

Lieutenant

Right hand of the Captain, responsible for leading the Irregulars in the Captain’s absence. Deals with recruitment and administration of the various daily tasks of the Company.

Sergeant

Inexperienced and weak aspirants will be denied, no cavalry are accepted into the ranks of the Irregulars.

Princess Julia Award: Given to members who who have displayed exceptional weapons handling skills.

Princess Tatiana Award: Given to members who display exceptional courage in combat.

Silver Pike Medal: Given to members who have slain five cavalry units.

Golden Pike Medal: Given to members who have slain ten cavalry units.

Iron Gut: Given to members who are wounded in service of the Regiment.

The Reymond1Comradery Award: Given to a single member who has been anonymously voted as having the best team-spirit, morale, and camaraderie among his peers.

1Trooper Reymond abandoned honour and betrayed the trust of his comrades by selling out his Captain following the untimely death of Lady Elysia Hearth. His name is mocked in a satirical sense by mentioning it as a Comradery Award.

Regimental Standing Orders

Section 1

((Roleplay Orders))

Disobeying or disregarding the following, intentionally or not, will result in administrative and/or disciplinary action depending on the severity of the offense.

  1. Members will know and obey the laws of Oren.

Ia.     Members will know and obey the laws of any location they are operating in.

  1. Members will not intentionally pick fights unless paid to.

  2. Members will not kill unless authorized by the Commanding Officer. This includes if you are attacked first or if the CO is not present.

  3. Members will respect the authority of Nobility and be polite and courteous when addressing them; including the use of proper titles.

  4. Members will be professional at all times; on or off duty.

  5. Members will be respectful to those around them.

  6. Members will not resist if an arrest is warranted to them.

  7. Members will limit themselves on alcohol intake.

Section 2

((OOC Orders))

Disobeying or disregarding the following could result in removal from the regiment. If you disagree with any of these rules, feel free to type the /leave command in the skype chat and change your skin back to whatever you had before.

  1. Members will not meme, troll, act toxic or do anything else that would be considered cancerous or corrosive. This includes but is not limited to: Memeing, trolling, ooc in RP, randomly punching people, running around and flailing for no reason, hate on people, etc.

  2. Members will never call PvP default if attacked and outnumbered. If a member is randomly attacked or even attacked with an RP reason, PVP default will not be called. Instead, the member will roleplay either dying or escaping.

  3. Members will use caution if attacked and there are less attackers. PVP may be called if there is a high possibility of winning the fight. Once the PVP is concluded and the enemies are downed, members WILL inform over LOOC that they will NOT be killing their attackers and that the PVP is over and RP will continue as normal once they are revived. To reiterate: You will not pop anybody after a fight and RP will continue when you revive them.

  4. Members will not randomly call people names, swear or otherwise cause heated discussions, arguments or fights.

  5. If someone comes up to you and says something along the lines of “You’re under arrest.”, Immediately put your hands up and allow yourself to be placed under arrest. Do not argue, do not fight, and do not whine. You may be searched and your items may be taken. You may also be killed in prison. But you have a higher chance of that NOT happening if you surrender immediately, rather than fighting or PVPing your way out. Do not argue with this rule. People will respect you for allowing yourself to be arrested rather than fighting like literally everyone else on the server does.

  6. Do not antagonize or make enemies of certain groups or individuals. Our goal is to be as neutral as possible, which is impossible if you make enemies.

  7. Remember that whatever you say or do while wearing our uniform reflects on the regiment. If you give people a bad taste, we do not get contracts nor respect. Be as respectful as you can, or just don’t talk at all. Some of the best RP is through actions, not words. (Our motto is Deeds, not Words, coincidentally)

All of the above is subject to change

((The basic premise of this group is to provide the server with a good mercenary company. A lot of combat in medieval ages was fought with mercenaries, the Swiss being the most famous. This group is based heavily off of the Swiss Mercenaries, and we hope to provide immersive, and quality roleplay not only for ourselves, but for the rest of the server. We hope to debunk the misconceptions about mercenaries such as the cliché "mercs only work for the money, and they'll abandon you for whoever pays them more" stereotype. We actually don't work that way, and have instead adopted a contract system. This system binds us under a contract to work for whoever hires us until the contract ends, or the money stops flowing. Abandoning a contract for one that pays higher simply will not happen, even if it's an extremely high-paying one. So don't fret your pretty little minds about that, y'hear? Also, this is not a recruitment thread.))

(( i too am a fan of messy medieval rp onlin ))

A representative of the local Traveler population inspects this paper before recalling that he does not know how to read. Instead, he smiles and draws a funny face on an envelope before drawing a crossbow on the parchment and hopes the Imperial courier service understood what he meant.
