Spoiler

Special thanks goes to Tsyose for permitting me to update the Tahariae lore and for aiding me in suggesting ideas and helping with the Reign of Setherein part of the lore.

Another thanks to Braxis, one of the original creators of Tahariae, for helping me with this lore and checking it over for me. This lore is true to the original Tahariae as to how Braxis and the other creator of the lore intended Tahariae to be.

Cheers lads.

This lore is an update to the old Tahariae lore where there is more history and background to the Aengul. I have tried my best with this lore and I am extremely proud of it. I will try and answer any questions the best I can, since I am limited to a phone.

However. Enjoy the lore!

Tahariae
The Aengul of Purity and Justice. The Vehement Judge. The Prophesier of Light

-={+}=-

Come, my faithful servants,
Let us cleanse this realm,
In land, no darkness.
In body, no wounds.
Go forth and judge the dark,
Heal and protect the grey,
And show worship to the light.
For in all, only purity.

-={+}=-

Within the skies above, Tahariae, the Aengul of Purity, watches the world. His thoughts only that of pure perfection throughout the realm. Constantly, he sought to ensure that the realm which mortals and his servants walk remains cleansed of anything that affects its pure state. The unnatural, the unneeded, and the unsafe; those were his conditions, what deemed something to be that of impure, firmly engraved in his mind like carvings upon stone. The Aengul followed these conditions to the point that the concept applied to the Aengudaemon’s themselves, for they also hit the three conditions, and should never wander the mortal realm unless he himself believed it to be needed. Despite his belief, which to some are acceptable, his decisions are usually taken with a sense of bias and ignorance. The pleas of many commonly ignored to reach his own goal, and yet even when a greater threat underlies that of his own he merely throws it aside as it fails to meet his demands with a blind eye

There is more to this Aengul than just purity and that is his burning desire to see the world cleansed of impurities that threatened to consume the lands. The land and the children of creation that had peeked his interest so. To solve a problem of who was worthy and who was not, of who was pure and who was filled with vile and wicked corruption, so did he take the mantle of  judge. Those first gifted with his light had to pass his judgement wash themselves clean of impurity and unholy sins. Tahariae offered no mercy, no remorse, and no emotion in the patronless clerics struggles to wash themselves and to be pure in the Silver Stag’s eyes.

Once the first of the pure had risen, The First Prophet of Tahariae he was gifted a vision of a Silver Stag, preaching onto the Cleric his ways. Judgement was passed and given, and the story told of Tahariae and his judgement given unto mortals of present, and past were given. Even passing judgement on his Aengul kin in his eyes.  Those deemed wicked were given cold justice, those proven to be pure were given a warm embrace of the mortals and other beings that dwelled upon the world of Asulon.

At times, Tahariae has been seen as the quiet guardian to his servants for it is they who help him in his mission to restore the world to purity. He watches and guides those he sees as true to his cause, protecting and leading them. Those who show worship and respect to him, he watches and protects. At times, He teaches and grants them new strengths to aid them. Yet to those who defy His will, He meets with undying rage and fury, one that is beyond anything mortal. A raging wildfire, uncontrollable and fierce. Gaining His forgiveness for going against Him or the clerics is extraordinary yet seen as powerful within the clerical orders, for their own lord had forgiven them. However, rarely does Tahariae communicate with His clerics or accepts their requests to see Him, unless He sees it as benefitting to His goals of utmost importance. Despite this silence, He reminds the clerics that he is still there and watching over them, through the light He gives them and the gentle warmth it gives off. A gentle light within the darkness. For Tahariae to descend, only an event that would bring forth true impurity or failure to His mission must happen to bring the Aengul into the mortal realm. This is something many of His servants understand and respect, for to descend is to place His very own immortality and life at risk.

It has been rumoured that sometimes Tahariae tests His servants, seeing where their loyalty and faith lies, just how determined they are to devote to His cause, and how far they are willing to go for it. Those who pass are supposedly seen as Tahariae’s most devoted of servants and have the Aengul’s blessings in safety and power. Whereas those who fail would be disconnected. There have been many examples of these tests, one major one being that of the “Leap of Clerics” within Vailor, within the year of darkness. The Aengul ordered the clerics to leap off the highest of towers but reassured them He would catch them.

The Ages

Age of  the Beginning
The first time Tahariae had laid h

His hand upon the mortal realm would be within the age of disease and undead. Within His mind sat his ideal view, with the only threat present being that of other mortals. However, he soon found that this image was distorted by plague, famine, and suffering. The very sight of  creatures so impure and corrupted enraged Tahariae, while hints of pity formed towards the mortals who suffer from these ailments. He watched as the first clerical order of the Aenguls travelled over Aegis, led by the siblings: Rebekah and Jacob. Curiosity grew in Him as He watched them heal the plague and taint, and the waves of undead brought to the world by the one known as Iblees. He watched and the mortal’s actions drew him to ponder. It was then, somewhere deep within His mind, that a faint idea sparked, one that would truly help Him achieve his goal. Tahariae decided to bless those of natural birth and mortality with  watered down powers of His own, bringing forth those who would serve Him well. Yet He waited for the perfect time for Him to do so.

Age of the Relinquish
With the arrival to Asulon, came the sudden relinquish in power from the Aengudaemons, their clerics stripped of all power. Those who followed Aeriel found their powers gone, as did those of the Brathmordakin. Yet Tahariae did not approve of such, the Aengul burned with fury at what had occurred, believing that allowing the mortals to keep their powers would help maintain purity throughout the land. Yet His demands and pleas went unnoticed by His brethren and the relinquish of power happened. He still held a distaste for what had occurred, dissatisfied and displeased with the result and how such was affecting the realm.

Soon, Anthos came and with it, came chaos. Within the skies above, Tahariae held another purpose than just the Aengul of Purity and the Judge. Unknown to His servants, He was known by the Aengudaemons as the Prophesier of Light, the seer of visions. Tahariae could see visions of what would occur, visions of what would endanger His mission. This power He did not bestow to His servants in the future. However, Tahariae rarely used this sight to aid the other Aengudaemons, for He only uses it for himself and Xan, the Aengul of Order. For centuries, Tahariae and Xan held a close bond, their missions similar and their powers alike. Many seeing them as brothers while others saw them as close comrades. At times, the two conflicted upon Xan’s descents to the mortal realm, many believing Tahariae held great concern of losing Xan. Yet the two seemed to move on and work together effectively: Xan held the sword and leadership, Tahariae served as His shield and guide. When Xan needed guidance or visions, Tahariae would be there for Him. These visions aided both of the Aenguls, allowing them to swiftly handle any issues that brought chaos or impurity to the realm.

However, Tahariae soon gained one particular vision that caused the both the Aengul and His very realm to tremble. He saw fire and darkness sweep across the mortal lands in the form of a creature great in size. Scales black as taint and eyes burning with eternal bloodlust, destruction within a physical form. The very lands corrupted and mortals perishing amongst the flames. As this vision occurred, Tahariae recited a prophecy, reflecting what He had seen:

Fire and chaos shall come to all,
Leaking out from a spawn of Dragur’s maul.
Destruction and death shall reign supreme,
And cause even the very heavens to scream.

Purity shall cease and order will be no more,
Everything we have done will be gone for.
Mortals suffer and the light will fade,
Yet this foe must be slayed.

For purity and order must return,
Else the world itself will forever burn.
Thus gather Thy servants and prepare for war,
For this is a threat we cannot ignore.

Age of the Stag
This vision remained true, for when this vision seen and heard, Tahariae fell into a state of panic as such became true with the arrival of Setherien and the Black Scourge. He came before Xan and spoke of the Prophecy and vision. Xan did not hesitate the slightest to enact action, while Tahariae stood by His side and observed His brother’s actions. Tahariae allowed Xan to speak the prophecy to His closest servants, as reckless as the action was. The Aengul of Purity knowing they must know of the threat Setherien would bring. Tahariae remained out of the conflict for a while, unable to do much. Yet soon, Xan turned to Tahariae, asking Him for help and thus Xan informed Tahariae of the calamity that had befallen in His ranks. Tahariae was caught off guard by the tale and left in shock by His Brother’s request, immediately agreeing to aid Him.

Tahariae turned His gaze to the mortal realm and He watched the clerics of the previous Aengudaemons. They still kept to their duty, even if they had lacked the powers their patrons had given them, they were still determined to keep going. He felt grief and pity for them, being abandoned so easily by those they had served well. He admired their strengths, how they benefitted in making the world fit His ideal image. Yet once again, His rage towards Aeriel and the other Aengudaemons who abandoned
them rose up, for the world needed them.

It was then that the prayers of a lone cleric caught Tahariae’s interest, causing the Aengul to investigate. There, he found Braxis Silverblade, idle in meditation and isolated in a small cavern. For days or hours Tahariae remained with the cleric, listening to his prayers. The Aengul was amazed at the lone Cleric’s resolve rising with each passing moment. Knowing that this Cleric was of impenetrable will and conviction, Tahariae decided to descendant down and stepped forth. Manifesting himself in the form of a golden stag, the immortal graced Braxis with his presence. Each step the immortal took shook the mountains like thunder as he approached Braxis, lowering his head so He may hear the Cleric’s tale through prayers. Tahariae remained in perfect silence as He listened, before finally deciding to speak.

Tahariae spoke to Braxis of the incoming darkness and how He needed aid in fending it away. He told the cleric how the clerical patrons of old had abandoned them during the flee of the Descendants to Asulon, and that He had been the one who had been blessing the Creator clerics. He told Braxis He disagreed with the relinquish and He truly saw their potential. He called upon the cleric to establish a new Order in His name, an Order of purity, justice, and an unwavering dedication to the destruction of taint and evil in the realm. With no hesitation, Braxis submitted to the Aengul’s will, thus founding the clerics of Tahariae. He recorded the Five Sacred Tenets of Tahariae, the guideline of the Aengul’s very will. Braxis thus became the first Tahariaen Cleric.

Tahariae watched as Braxis set about contacting the clerics of his order and informing them of his discovery. The Aengul now relaxed and feeling at peace, guiding His new servants. He granted a few individuals with the capabilities to remove this extraneous variable from His absolute image and soon He saw pieces falling into place, to form what He desired. He kept strict with them, yet held a gentle fondness to them, guiding and instructing them on one to do. The remaining clerics had thus united under one patron and Tahariae could finally see His ideal image becoming true. The Aengul growing determined to aid his brother.

However, despite Tahariae’s conviction, the Clerical Order’s numbers continued to dwindle as time ticked forth, much to Tahariae’s annoyance. The ever-changing affairs of mortals restricting His search for those pure of mind and soul. Politics, war, etc. He found these things petty in the face of the enemy that was to rise.  Yet some clerics under Him saw Him as the Creator, believing He was the all-powerful being above all other Aengudaemons. Tahariae was disgruntled in not being truly recognised for who He was.

Regardless of this challenge, Tahariae grew attached to His disciples, much like Xan had. He admired and cherished their bravery as they stood and faced against the lingering darkness and those who practiced Iblees’ lost art. However, soon the tides turned against Tahariae and His clerics as another threat arose, one that even froze Tahariae: A new generation of Necromancers rose up, some had abandoned their mortal coil. They had mutated into vile beings of taint and darkness, these necromancers were left invulnerable to any usual means of destruction, and were further empowered in their mastery of the art. These Wraiths soon showed that they were far stronger than the warriors of Tahariae, and so He gazed down upon his disciples with concern at their clear disadvantage. The Aengul knew full well the tides were turning against Him, and He needed to act swift to prevent it.

Age of Itherals
As the wraiths were beating the clerics mercilessly, the clerics turns to Tahariae in prayer. The pleaded for light, for strength, and for hope. Tahariae listened to their prayers and He knew he had to oblige, for the clerics were stuck between Setherien’s Black Scrouge and the threat of the Wraith. Tahariae turned his gaze to his followers, concern like that of a parent felt by the Aengul
A crash like that of thunder echoed deafeningly through the realm as Tahariae granted their prayers, at a considerable cost. He called out to the clerics, reciting the following.

“Do not fear, for my light will guide you to your goal. It is now that you write the poems of your future. Walk, I tell you, so that your victory may be wrought. Come into my light so that you may shed the bonds that have held you captive. Fear, hate, and doubt are the plague and the gift of mortals. Allow me to relinquish these gifts, and cure you of these ills.

These bonds have held you for all of your life, and to break them is to relinquish all that you once were. Join my on this side of those barriers and cast light so that you may view your path. Become more than a mortal caught in the crosswinds of Gods, and bind your life to my light.

Sacrifice these emotions which make you weak, for it is the contempt in our hearts that feeds the very corruption you seek to destroy.”

At Tahariae’s call a small gathering of clerics followed his words, sacrificing their mortality and emotion in order to save that of their kin and all. Through the banishment of their mortality did Tahariae grant them with His own power, that stronger than the power the cleric received. Transcending their mortal forms to become beings of light, these clerics would act as Tahariae’s champions in the mortal plane. His enforcers of purity and beacons of light, the Itharel. Tahariae admired the Itharel and silently, He nodded to himself, yet he regretted this decision: he broke his own terms, the formation of the Itharel casting that of the unnatural to Anthos.

Through their new gift, the revitalized Clerical Order struck back against the Wraiths and their ilk, driving them back with the light of their Patron. Tahariae guiding them as they did so. So too would they fight back against the Black Scourge of Setherien. Though unexpected circumstances may occur, they were conquered. It was exactly what Tahariae had intended; a band of His own warriors to defend the realm in His brother Xan’s stead. His champions and their kin would buy Xan the time he so desperately needed to strengthen his own forces. Tahariae pulled back into His realm, knowing He had played His part in this war, therefore the next steps would belong to the Aengul of Order now.

The battle against Setherien waged on, Tahariae’s servants and Itharel aiding tremendously. The battle soon left Anthos, entering the Fringe. Both Tahariae and Xan’s forces remained strong, the Aenguls determined more than ever and kept hope alive. Then finally, the battle was won. Tahariae and His servants watched as the Golden Lance, shot by Herun and his siblings from a quartz ballista, pierced Setherien in his blasted heart. The calamity glowing a black light as he fell from the sky, reduced to ashes before he touched the ground. Cheer and joy spread throughout the land, yet Tahariae remained silent. The Aengul rose up from the throne within the Realm of Purity and  He swiftly departed, concern flooding through the immortal’s eyes.

It was in the crumbling Realm of Order that Tahariae approached Xan. The once powerful Aengul was crippled weak and on the brink of death, a mere puddle left out to evaporate in the light of the scorching sun. Yet Tahariae could feel relief and satisfaction coming from His brother, Xan had succeeded in His goal yet in doing so had given His life. Tahariae knew that the world needed Order and could not live without it, nor a guardian. He reached out to Xan, His eyes golden and pure as He focused. With what strength Xan had left, His gaze met Tahariae’s and He felt power return to Him the moment they locked gaze. The weakness in His form fading away as strength returned. The clouds had blocked the sun and rain fell upon the puddle, returning it to its former glory. Tahariae ceased in giving power as Xan rose up, the Aengul of Order now returning to strength on His own. Between the two, mute thanks and appreciation was passed before Tahariae turned and left the rebuilding Realm of Order, allowing His brother to heal.

Age of Silence
After the Fall of Setherein, Tahariae kept watch over the Clerical Order and the Itherals, watching them silently and not interfering. At times, Tahariae interacted with the Itherals, such as in Athera where the Itheral Ivanus gained an audience with the Aengul after he was slain by the Dark Itheral. Yet as the years went on, the Itherals grew distant from their true purpose: to defend the Clerical Order and guide all. They either vanished or refused to aid the order, causing Tahariae grow enraged with their actions. Thus, He removed them… but also to remove the unnaturality they had caused, as His own creation had now cursed the mortal realm to never achieve what he desired. He held grand regret over this decision upon the coming years. As the years went on, many of His orders fell and revived, yet Tahariae grew more distant. This age then brought realising to Tahariae and exposed Him to the truth: The more he altered upon the mortal realm upset his own causes, he was adding imperfection. So he withdrew his ever manipulating hand, leaving the few empowered individuals to hold responsibility over his blessing.

Thus Tahariae had grown silent and less responsive to His clerics, His heart heavy with the regret and the truth. However, this did not mean Tahariae had abandoned His clerics, he remains watchful of them, listening to their prayers to Him, and their many fights. He remained proud yet some would say afraid to once again interfere with the mortal realm like His other kin. Once in awhile, Tahariae reached out to a few clerics, gently nudging them towards the right direction. Yet silence was mostly what the clerics gained.

Age of Return
However, it was not till Vailor  that Tahariae once again reached out to His clerics. The first was during the year of 1525 where darkness fell upon the land in the form of an ashcloud. Gazadriael, the Aengul of New Beginnings, reached out to Tahariae and told the Aengul that the seal keeping Iblees imprisoned was breaking and needed souls to keep the Betrayer down. Tahariae agreed to assist Gazadriael in protecting the mortals that would become the harvesters of these souls, the Aengul knowing how much destruction the Arch-Daemon would bring and it was best to sacrifice a few rather than damn the whole world. Yet this would place Tahariae against Xan, who refused to such.

According to the clerics,Tahariae reached out to the them, giving them a test to prove themselves to Him. The Leap of Clerics: they must leap off a high structure, the Aengul reassuring them that He would catch them. If they did jump, Tahariae would transfer them to another realm, and talk to them as an orb of light, informing them that they must protect the Harvesters to keep Iblees sealed. Many clerics jumped, aside for two. Tahariae, according to many, had disconnected the two for their lack of faith… yet the two proven themselves to the Aengul, they clearly showed they still held a strong faith to the Aengul. Even in the face of death and sacrifice. Tahariae reconnected the two, as a clear sign of forgiveness and encouraged them to jump, which the two clerics thankfully did. Soon, the harvesters vanished and Gazadriael withdrew from the mortal realm.

The second instance Tahariae reached out to the clerics was to bestow upon them a Prophet. After their actions throughout the year, Tahariae decided to become less silent and aid them, admiring the effort the Curatrix clerics had placed into their duty. Thus granting them a Prophet who would speak to Tahariae and give the clerics’ His Will. Thus Heshakomeu Sohae became the Prophet of Tahariae, bringing forth the Utterings of Tahariae that stand alongside the Five Tenets. Tahariae bestowed the name ‘Ashanaak’ onto the Prophet and spoke through the mortal from time to time. The demonstration of Tahariae’s raw power encouraged the clerics greatly, giving then strength and power into performing their duty.

Yet soon, the Curatrix Order crumbled with the events of the Dark Congress. Their prophet vanished, due to his actions towards the paladins. Tahariae silently mourned, as He held some hope that the order would rise and become true like the orders of the past. Yet it did not. The clerics were rendered weak and powerless, so much so that they struggled with the arrival of Orgon’s plague. However, Tahariae witnessed a faint spark within one of the clerics, one by the name of Elvira. He saw a potential leader within the cleric as she constantly tried to keep the Curatrix, the Vailorian Clerical Order, going, yet she was held down by the chains and burdens of her past. However, her faith and devotion to Him was that He has never seen, it was one of power and true admirability. Thus He reached out to her and sent her on a journey, where she meditated within His light and learnt to release herself from those chains, truly devoting herself to Him. Tahariae watched and soon sent Elvira back to the docks when Vailor soon fell to the plague.

Soon came Axios. Tahariae forever overseeing and guiding His servants with a watchful look. With a new realm, now was the time to see if His servants can rise up from the ashes. The Aengul wishing that this realm would show the brightest for Himself and the clerics. As long as purity remained true, the Aengul remained content.

Realm of Purity
It’s believed that every Aengudaemon resides within their own realm and for Tahariae it would be no different. The Realm of Purity is Tahariae’s domain, it takes the form of a massive garden full of the most beautiful of flowers, a symbolism of the purity that Tahariae strives for. Warmth and peace would flood through those who are fortunate enough to be allowed into such realm. In the middle, a giant of a building, built from the finest of white quartz fashioned into bricks and moulded to form the image of a courthouse. With colossal pillars that consumed the outside of the building it almost would appear threatening to the ordinary eye, a place of judgement and with it, punishment. One would feel the raw power and intimidating atmosphere radiating from such building, a clear sign of the Aengul’s power.

However should you enter His courthouse,  he layout would not be that of a mortals thinking. There would be no jury, audience or even a place for a defendant to place his case. Only a single seat; that of tthe judge - the Aengul Himself.

-={+}=- -={+}=- -={+}=-
Forms
Tahariae generally appears to the clerics in the form of a radiant silver stag with eyes of pure gold. The stag represents the power and elegance Tahariae bears, as well as the purity the Aengul strives for. Those who He appears to would feel calmness and raw power come from him, feeling calm until His gaze meets your own. This is Tahariae’s most common and renown form.

At times, Tahariae also appears as an orb of light, a silver light that nearly resembles the brightness of the moon within the night sky. However, some clerics see Tahariae as a hooded and robed man, wearing the whitest of robes that radiate a powerful glow. Yet, His eyes covered by a grey cloth to symbolise His blinding devotion to His ideals. In one hand, He carries a beautifully woven staff bearing a crystal on top, a strong light emerging from within.

Yoshihisa closes the small novelette, a synthetic chuckle reverberating from beneath his sleek, metal visor. "This deity is fantastic, in many ways, it even reminds me of... myself." With a precise motion, he bends his knees, descending into a meditative rest beneath the cherry blossom tree. Um. You are aware this isnt a RP post right? Its a lore submission/lore update so most of this information wont be known until it is accepted. Futhermore such information on this lore will not be fully known by people unless they are clerics.

But I am liking that IC response. XD

I think this is very shoddy compared to what Tahariae could be, why do all gods have to be clearly defined and humanized? That makes it so pointless, AenguDaemons should act more as primeval forces than actual figures of power.

As I told Flam, the updated part of this lore, the Vailor portion specifically, seems to slowly turn into a 'this is what happened between myself and Tah' instead of 'This is what happened between Tah and the Clerics and Noteworthy important events'.

- There's no mention of Orgon and his affect on Vailor, ultimately undoing any and all purity to the land and forcing us to flee. You just say its a plague.

- There's no mention of the clerics battling alongside the Orcs, Paladins, and other Descendants, when Orgon first manifested his image into the Orchish Desert and attempted to infect and zombify the Orcish people.

-There's no mention of the clerics working alongside the Druids in attempting to push back Orgon's Disease that was infecting the land.

It really just makes it seem like a deity and group of magic users did nothing towards the end of a map/during world destruction, and that's not entirely true nor paints a good image for the player base or the deity of purity when disease and plague overpowers it.

I believe the mention of Orgon, a spirit of Disease, overpowering the effects of deity magics, including the Light of the Aengul of Purity, should be mentioned, along with how the clerics attempted to fight back, at the very least.

Alright. I will get onto readjusting those areas but I will explainchere for anyone reading.

- Due to the Dark Congress, the clerics were gravely weakened, along with the fact the leading order had lost a range of clerics and activaties. While the paladins and Descendants were fighting against the spirit, the clerics were just slowly recovering from the Dark Congress and trying to reestablish themselves. Hence why such was not mentioned: for most of us were not there

-  I was also unsure of what the other cleric orders/sects were up tp during this time as I had to leave LotC temporarily for coursework. So I couldnt write much on them.

- Some clerics did aid the druids so this will be mentioned.

- The lore focuses more on Tahariae than the clerics, the offical clerical lore would explain on the history of the clerics more. Tahariae did not make any offical interferances or appearances during the end of Vailor, therefore nothing much could be establishes here. Although I will agree that Tahariae could have played a small part as we are talking out a motherload of impurity in the realm, but this was the end game event so the plague had to overcome the realm.

- What occured with Tahariae and Elvira was a supposed interferance from Tahariae, which I added to just add some detail to the Orcish Plague era to at least have some activaty in such area. It was also an excuse for my leave during the end of Vailor.
