~ The Musings of a Certain Cleric ~ 2nd of The Deep Cold, 1588 ~

Wards have always been a flexible layer of holy energy, one that a cleric is capable to spreading and twisting for doors, arch ways, gateways and more, to ensure only those the cleric wishes to pass through are capable to, undeterred and unhindered.

However, rarely do wards fold in on themselves, often only making semi-circles and domes when surrounding small buildings. But the ideology of bending the Light into a circular shape is nothing new to clerics. It’s actually one of the basic steps we take when practicing war clericalism, forcing the light to converge in on itself, creating our Orbs of Light. From these orbs, we have used them as simple, but effective, projectiles as well as manipulating them to manifest weapons and shields, further proving the flexibility of the Light, it's only limits being the cleric’s skill and creativity.

Yet, wards, like blessings, have always suffered from the inability to sustain themselves. While a Cleric can create a strong ward by infusing the barrier with an immense amount of Light, there is no constant power source, causing the holy energy to slowly deplete. This causes the Cleric to remain nearby, making sure to ‘refill’ the ward as it begins to wane and weaken, or the ward simply disappears into nothingness. While the opposite is true of blessings,  strong power sources but often lacking any holy or magical container (Commonly being placed in weapons). This causes the blessing to either expire itself when used properly or, simply ‘leak’ out its energy over time, similar to that of a water skin with a hole in the bottom, and disappear into nothingness.

Yet, what happens if one was to combine the two? If one was to create a...holy container of sorts, through making an orb like ward….but instead of leaving it empty as if a ball of air, it was filled with a blessing...a spark of His power? Would it be able to hold the power?

The page ends there. Following pages are filled with scribbles and sketches, many crossed out and blackened out through most of the journal.

The only words truly legible throughout the messy journal are:

Born from the Light

Method of Creation & Shell Manipulation (Feeding and Repair)

Light Elementals are constructs of light that are created through the practice of warding in tandem with the practice of blessing to form a semi-permanent being of light.

A skilled and knowledgeable Cleric(T5) would be required to create a powerful ward in an sphere like shape, roughly the size of a tennis ball. Creating such a ward would be an exhausting feat, requiring ample amounts of Light, skill, and focus to contour the barrier into such a dense and compact space, in relation to how powerful it is. (Imagine a ward that would stretch the limits of a gatehouse entrance, forced to the size of a tennis ball)

(Creation - Shell)

[!] The connected cleric steps away from the four raised burning candles after completing their hymn and prayer to Tahariae. Their gaze inspects their work,  an ethereal shimmer of the Lord of Purity’s colored lights float amidst the space between the candles, his influence on the area made apparent. The cleric steps into the center of the ring and kneels upon the floor. Their cupped hands huddle over the focal point of the ring upon the floor as their Light begins to flow forth into a rounded shape.

“Lord of Light, your humble servant kneels before you.

I beseech you, lend me your aid.”

The small ball of light sits still, hovering slightly above the stone floor. The cleric slowly rises and reaches their hands up into the sky in a similar cupped fashion as a second rounded light begins to form at the zenith of the circle.

“Lord of Purity, your humble servant reaches towards you.

I pray to you, let your power flow through me.”

The second sphere of light hangs in the air as the cleric slowly moves their hands from it. Their slow steps resonate on the stone floor as they move to one of the four candles, the golden candle. Their hands move to cup the flame, blocking its view to the outside world.

“May your Light this day stand as a testament to those we must protect.

Your Light will be a stalwart defense to those of this realm.”

As the cleric complete the verse, their hands move away from the flame, revealing that it has transformed into a rounded ball of light, similar to that of the others. It is left to hang in the air, above where its flame once shined, as the cleric moves along the circle of candles, reaching the white candle.

“May your Light this day stand as a symbol of purity to the denizens of this world.

Your Light will be a beacon in the night, a symbol of peace and perfection.”

The clerics hands pull away from the flame of the white candle as their verse concludes, revealing a similar light being formed from the candle’s flame. With the third candle of the ring, the silver candle, in the cleric’s gaze, their steps lead them over to it. As their hands begin to cup the wick, their lips part once more.

“May your Light this day stand as a promise to you, my Lord.

Your Light will be a constant reminder to all, your servant included, of your power and might.”

The third flame curves inwards, forming a similarly round ball of light. As the cleric’s hands move from the candle and steps towards the final candle, blue, it rises slightly from its original position to hang in the air like its brethren. The cleric takes a deep breath as their hands cup the final light.

“May your Light this day stand as a blade to those of shadows and corruption.

Your Light will be vigilant and strong as it seeks to rid the world of the beings of Darkness.”

As the blue candle’s flame takes shape, the cleric steps from the circle. The six lights hang, ceremoniously, in the air as the cleric turns to face their work. With a deep breath, they raise their hand to one of the candle created lights. As they close their eyes, they begin to concentrate on the light within them allowing it to flow forth.

The four lights that hover above the candles begin to brighten as they stretch out, reaching for their brethren on either side of each light.

“May the Four Pillars of Faith stand united.

May your Light shine as one and illuminate this world.”

As the lights of the center reach one another, they shine brightly, making a unified circle of light.

The cleric breathes heavily, their face becoming ruddy and a sheen of sweat covering their forehead as they continue. As they begin the next verse, the four lights reach downwards towards the single light hovering above the floor, creating an inverted dome shape.

“May your Light shine brightly in the Darkness that hides from your presence.

May your wrath find those that lurk in shadows and the darkest of nights.”

As the lights stretch downwards and reach the central light at the base, the dome shines brightly. The clerics tired eyes look upwards to the solitary light hanging in the space above. With a dry swallow, they close their eyes once more and push forth, urging the four lights to reach upwards now.

“May your Light act as a guide for all in this world, Lord Tahariae.

Lead us to your realm of purity, a realm of peace and truth.”

The lights stretch upwards, curving towards the light that hangs floating above, and upon contact completes the large skeletal frame of a sphere.

With all of the lights now connected, their stored energies begin to exude outwards, filling the space between the lights and arching framework, like how one would stretch a kites cover over the wooden framework. As the light continues to spread, the six original lights slowly shrink, their gathered power being used to spread across the sphere until finally, they meld into the sphere of light totally, creating a large, perfectly smooth, hollow sphere of light.

(A rough sketch of what the process would look at this point, found in a certain cleric’s journals.

Numerous other sketches of various designs would be found in there, but lines dragged through them, showing their failed attempts.)

The cleric lowers their hand, looking at their work. They wipe their sweaty brow and reaches for a skin of water, draining the majority of its contents with swift gulps. With some deep breaths and a wiping of the excess water from their mouth they raise their hands once more towards the sphere of light.

Their hands spread outwards, mirroring the width of the sphere’s size. With a focused gaze and a furrowed brow, their hands begin to glow brightly and the sphere, in response, shines brightly.

With extremely slow movement, the cleric begins to closen their hands, their gaze locked on the sphere before them. With each movement, the sphere responds accordingly, slowly shrinking in size. Yet, as the sphere becomes smaller, the movement of the cleric’s arms and hands become more shaky. The power of the sphere’s large size being compressed becomes increasingly intensive for the cleric, as the power of the sphere attempts to expand outward. However, the cleric's skill with manipulating the light eventually wins, forcing the sphere into a smaller, denser, and powerful hollow sphere.

With limbs sore and aching, head flushed and sweaty, vision blurry and tired, the cleric sits down quickly into a nearby chair. The brilliant lights shining from their hands and eyes fades off into the darkness of the room as their connection closes. They lift the lighter waterskin to their mouth and drinks heavily from it as they prepare for a long rest, staring at their creation as they drift off to a much needed sleep.

Yet, although the Cleric would be exhausted, their work is not finished. While they have created the ‘container’ it must be filled. Thus, the cleric would proceed as per normal when blessing an object. However, instead of forcing the light into an object, such as a sword’s blade, the light is forced into the empty center of the ward, similar to filling a water jug with water.

(Creation - Being)

The elder cleric sits with a start, looking about for their creation, as if thinking the night before’s work was a dream. But before the cleric sat the hollowed sphere, shining softly in the room’s darkness.

They slowly sit up, dragging their chair with them as they neared the sphere, examining its smooth and round exterior with a careful eyes, searching for imperfections or cracks.

Upon satisfactory inspection, the cleric took a moment and voiced their prayer to Tahariae, allowing the light to flow through them following their connection prayer. They slide their hand under the sphere, letting them feel how the small, yet dense and heavy object, rests in their palm.

The thick walls of the sphere were a familiar warm to their touch and with an approving nod, the cleric slid their hand away from the sphere, letting it hover once more on the table. Their hands moved to the top of the sphere, one placing their fingers delicately against the small sphere in a pinching position.

With delicate care and focus, the pinching fingers that are pressed against the sphere begin to shine and slowly spread apart. In response, the sphere’s walls slowly open, revealing the empty core to the outside world. The effort of spreading the sphere open is an intensive task, similar to that the night before where the sphere was shrunk, even the smallest amount of movement in separating the dense walls a heavy task, the slightest wrong movement potentially cracking the sphere’s smooth and perfect form.

“Lord Tahariae, allow your Light this day to fill this receptacle.

May this sphere become a vessel for your will.

May this sphere become a tool for your servant to use.

May this sphere become a part of I, a tool to carry your mission in this realm.”

.

With the prayer uttered and the sphere opened, the cleric focuses inward. They visualize the brightest of light passing through their connection with the aengul, the glorious arrival of His power and glory. As the light passes through their soul and builds up within their very being, they will the light towards their free hand. The hand begins to shine brightly as the cleric moves it towards the opening, allowing the holy light to flow forth and enter the sphere.

Like water being poured into an empty jug, the light falls in and splashes along the bottom of the sphere. It curls and slides up the sides of the sphere until receding back to the base. The light continues to flow from the cleric’s hand as the sphere’s core is filled, the strain of holding the sphere open and filling it slowly taking its toll on the cleric as beads of sweat begin to drop from their forehead.

As the sphere begins to reach its capacity, the cleric stems the flow of light from their palm. Their breathing labored as they sit upright once more,  moving their hand from the sphere. As their free hand begins to dim the cleric slowly moves their fingers together, allowing the sphere to become smooth and whole once more. They run their thumb over the space where the hole previously existed, insuring it is both smooth and sealed. With a tired nod, they lean back in the chair, muttering thanks to their patron as the light from within them fades.

The sphere hangs there momentarily, as it had throughout the night, before its luminosity increases. The sphere begins to shake slightly, as if a child waking up from a deep sleep, before it begins to move towards the cleric, as if looking them over. The cleric nods to the sphere of light before them and closes their eyes to rest.

Once the ward has been filled with the light, the opening that was left to fill it is closed, safely securing the trapped light within.

(Note: A Tier 5 Cleric is only needed to create the initial ‘body’ of the elemental. The ‘empty shell’ can be given to a lower cleric who can then infuse it with their own light. The elemental will belong to the cleric that initially places its light inside of it. Should the elemental need to be re-energized or repaired, the Tier 5 Cleric that created the shell will need to be present to help open and close the ward.

A shell can only persist six hours without having a source of power inside of it to draw from before to stabilize it's form. This prevents people from mass-producing shells.

The exhaustion on the cleric for creating a shell is great, preventing them from making more than one shell every seventy-two hours. Shells are not easily replaceable and the elementals are meant to be protected by their owners.

This reliance on the shell's creator lasts until an elemental has reached Stage Four. At this point, the owner's light has mixed with the shell creator's light so frequently that the owner can now mole the shell as needed, for feeding or repairs. While a cleric can do this on their own, they must still be taught how to do so before attempting to, otherwise they may shatter the shell.)

Example Emotes of Shell Manipulation

(Refueling/Feeding the Core)

“Alright, bring it here.” The elder cleric grumps, moving to sit in a wooden chair before a pedestal.

The youthful cleric walks over, their small elemental clutched in their hands emitting a soft dim light. “Why is it acting so strange? It can barely hover on its own lately.”

The elder cleric moves his hand toward the youth, taking the orb in his hand. The weight of the orb was light, and as he squeezed it slightly, he could feel just how fragile the sphere’s walls had become. He lifted his hand to eye level and peered inside, noting the dim light from within.

“It’s easy to see, lad, that you have not been taking proper care of your partner. The light within it is nearly extinguished. When was the last time you allowed your light to flow into it?”

The youth shuffled slightly in place and rustled his robes. “I...I...I think a few days ago...yes a few days ago!” He replies nodding quickly.

The older man looks from the sphere to the youth, a raised brow greeting his response.

“Oh….did I say days….I meant a week or so…” The boy quickly replied, looking down at the ground as he bit his lip.

“I wonder how you’d feel if you weren’t fed for over a week.” The old man grumps as he mutters a connection prayer, his silver light flowing from his eyes.

“I….I wouldn’t be feeling very energetic…..oh….” The youth answers, soon realizing the rhetorical question and the situation he had caused.

The elder’s fingers press against the sphere he had created long ago for the youth. “You need to connect and prepare your light, else the bit of light left in here will escape for good.”

The youth nodded quickly and shuffled over to the elder’s side. He muttered a prayer, quite novice in comparison to the elder’s but the Light still answered his call, filling him with a white light. With a moment and deep breath, the youth summoned a white light to his hand and looked to the elder, nodding.

With skilled and trained motions, the elder begins to part the sphere’s shell, opening a pathway from the core to the outside world.

With a silent nod from the elder, the youth moves his hand to the opening and begins to will his light inside of the sphere. Similar to how it had been created, the light flows inside, mixing with the preexisting light already. As each moment passes, the light inside of the sphere begins to brighten, the strength and energy of the elemental returning once more.

The untrained youth’s face becomes ruddy and sweaty quickly as the orb’s capacity begins to fill. “That’s enough.” The elder instructs as he nudges the youth away from the opening before he collapses from exhaustion. With a slow motion, the older man smooths the opening they had created, sealing the boy’s light inside of the sphere.

Several moments later, both clerics sat there, breathing heavy from their trials. The elemental, now healthy, begins to hover more and bob in a display of happiness. The boy begins to smile, despite his exhausted state, until he feels a hand thump him on the back of the head.

“Next time, don’t wait so long!” the man grumps as he retracts his striking hand.

(Mending/Repairing)

“Help!” A voice echoes throughout the temple as the sound of feet slapping against the stone resonate follows after. An elder woman stands up from her prayer and turns around to see a moderately skilled cleric racing towards her, its hand pressed against her elemental’s sphere.

“Please!” She pleaded as tears fall from her eyes as she approaches the elder woman. “Help it, teacher! I can’t stop it!”

“Miranda?” The teacher asked confused as she looked between the pair. She noticed the burns on the cleric’s arms, the tears in her uniform, and the missing shoe. “What is the matter? What has happened to you?”

“We were in the forest when a lich attacked us! We fought it off, but it blocked a lethal fireball that was sent at me!” She moves her hand, revealing cracks that slowly stretched throughout a good portion of the elemental’s side. Light began leaking from the cracks at an increased rate as the cleric moved her hand away from it, forcing her to quickly return it. “It’s dying, teacher! Please, save it!”

The older woman turned quickly, ushering them both into a quiet room. She moved a chair over for Miranda to sit upon as she held onto her elemental and, once she seated herself, spoke a connection prayer, filling her eyes with a brilliant blue light.

“Now, let me see it once more.” She instructed as she leaned closer.

Miranda sniffled, moving her hand slowly from her companions sphere, showing the damaged shell, the lethal cracks that were deep and spreading slowly, the white light within that was slowly seeping out of it. “Can...Can you fix it?”

The older woman nods slowly as she narrows her eyes onto her palm, allowing her blue light to flow into a rounded shape at the center. “Of course.”  She then scoots closer, moving the light towards the cracks. “Now, keep still.” She says, speaking to the elemental, not the young girl.

The elemental’s light dims and shines, as if trying to say that it understands as it’s shaking becomes quiet. The woman begins to press her ball of light into the cracks, carefully allowing the blue light to seep into the shell on its own will rather than forcing it against the cracking shell.

The woman’s light begins to spread throughout the cracks of the shell and upon reaching the ends of the various cracks, begins to repair itself. From thick and deep cracks, to small and hairline ones, the light seeks out such impurities within the shell and slowly repairs it. Depending on how deep the cracks had gone, the light would begin on the lowest point and work its way up, ensuring that the core is protected and maintained before fixing the exterior of the shell.

With time and patience, the cracks would be repaired. Much like healing though, the older woman’s silence and strain to repair the damage was noticeable as the youth looked on. But, through experience and skill, the woman pulls back her glowing hands, looking at her work. The elemental’s body would be free of cracks, but some bumps and pivots would remain. She’d frown and move her hand to the sphere, dragging her thumb and forefinger over such spots, molding the light like a sculptor molds clay, until the smoothness and perfect shape returns.

“I believe that does it.” She says with a tired sigh and the wipe of her brow. “But you’ll need to fill the core…” Her eyes ran over the youth, her wounds and her exhausted state. She could see easily that fear and adrenaline was keeping her awake. “...tomorrow, yes tomorrow.”

The older woman let the light flow from her as the youth hugged her elemental tightly, only for it to respond by randomly shapeshifting into a pillow for a moment before returning to its rounded and glimmering shape.

“I agree...rest is needed.” The older woman said, acknowledging the elemental’s gesture and lead the young cleric to the dormitory.

Redlines for Creation and Shell Manipulation:

- Only one elemental per cleric.

-The process of creating a shell is extremely draining on a cleric, preventing them from creating more than one shell every 72 hours.

- Shells have a short life of six hours unless they have a blessing within them. If they are not filled within this time, they shatter.

-Until Stage 4, the shell's creator is needed to manipulate their light to allow for repair and feeding.

- Once an elemental reaches Stage 4 its owner is capable of manipulating its shell for feeding and repairing, if the cleric has been taught such skills from the shell's creator.

-If the owner attempts to manipulate the shell without being properly taught, the shell will shatter.

-The amount an elemental needs to be fed increases as the elemental grows.

-The exact amount cannot be given a specific number amount, but an elemental at the stage equal to the cleric would tire the cleric dramatically during a feeding. (IE: A T5 feeding a Stage 1 elemental would be much easier in comparison to a T3 feeding a Stage 3.)

-Simple commands and every day use does drain the elemental's light/life. Combat scenarios drain it much faster.

- The frequency of feedings is similar to that of blessings. The more you utilize the elemental, the faster it's power wanes. An elemental that remains in a relaxed state may go three days without it's hunger severely affecting it. Where as an elemental that participates in combat and utilizes its light frequently may need to be fed daily. Be responsible and realistic, please.

(A rough sketch of an elemental at its early stage.)

An Elemental’s Growth

Unlike other types of constructs that are extremely solid and permanent creations, the light is flexible and ever burning. This allows for the cleric to empower their elemental over time, not only causing it to become a stronger companion, but also changing it in various ways.

(Note: The timeline of growth given is based on a Tier 5 Holy Alteration cleric. An elemental will never grow to a new stage that their owner is not currently at, as it grows alongside the cleric.

Example: A cleric that is T2 in Holy Alteration will never have an elemental stronger than T2, regardless of how long is has existed.)

Stage 1 - Creation

Description/Behavior: A dense orb  the size of a tennis ball. The warmth and light that it generates is little more than that of a large torch. In this current state, the elemental has the mindset of a child, curious of the world’s surroundings, potentially annoying to some, yet never straying far from the cleric. While the elemental does have some control over its movement (often clumsily bumping into things, as if a child learning how to walk) it is at the command of the cleric, whose verbal or hand gestures(when focused on the light within the ward) can control it’s movements.

Abilities: The elemental is able to act similarly to that of a ball. This, however, can be used to distract an enemy in a confrontation by simply nudging or headbutting the opponent with its body. Truthfully, however, any blunt attack from the elemental can potentially hurt itself, as it’s outer shell is at its softest and most vulnerable stage. Repeated attacks may do more harm than good to itself, proceed with caution.

The elemental is also capable of exuding its own light from within, causing holy light to seep out and into its immediate surroundings( A one block radius). While this is only a small amount of light, it would bring a sense of calming and comfort to those without darkness within them. While the opposite would occur to those with darkness, a sense of discomfort and frustration.

While this can be useful, the elemental will deplete its power over time, and if not refilled by the cleric, will vanish from existence. A Stage 1 elemental can exude it's own light for roughly 10 seconds before it drains itself and perishes, making this extremely unwise to utilize.

Example Emotes of a Stage 1 Elemental:

(Stage 1 - Relaxed)

[!] The cleric sighs as she sits down, hearing the shattering of a glass as her light elemental returns to her, the light glowing dim. "Did you hit the window again?" She would ask as the elemental would pull away from her slightly before bobbing in a nodding manner. She raises a hand and rubs her temple.

(Stage 1 - Combat)

[!] The cleric’s hand begins to glow, a golden light growing in luminosity, as she skids back in the dirt. Her shield shatters from the strength of her opponent’s blow. With a quick swipe of her hand, she gestures the small elemental to dart in front of her opponent, attempting to act as a distraction for a moment while she prepares her next assault. [!] The elemental hums softly as it bounces in front of the opponent, flashing brightly in an attempt of being an annoyance and frustration! (HEY LISTEN!)

Redlines for Stage 1 Elemental:

- The elemental is in its weakest physical form. A single strong blow can crack the shell causing it to leak.

- If the element attempts to assist in attacking, physical contact can harm its own body.

- At this stage, the light inside the elemental cannot be used to harm things, it is so small that even simple darkness would snuff it out.

- The elemental starts at the small size of roughly a tennis ball. If the cleric's power allows it, the elemental will slowly grow in size, reaching Stage 2 size at the appropriate time interval.

(A rough sketch of well-taken care of elemental, roughly at its year anniversary.)

Stage 2 - 7 Days After Creation

Description/Behavior: Should the cleric continue to fill the elemental with their light regularly, it would begin to expand outward in all directions, growing in size (no larger than a basketball). Its luminosity and warmth increases as its size does, now shining brighter around it (Roughly a 2 block radius). It's light, naturally, would cause any ‘Dark’ beings distress and unease when nearing it but does not cause them pain. Aside from the increase in size, the elemental will venture slightly further from its creator, perhaps being curious enough to encompass the entirety of a large room that the cleric currently inhabits.

Abilities: With it’s increased size, the elemental’s blunt force attacks will carry more weight - similar to being knocked around by a medicine ball. While armored figures may have resistance to these attacks, a limb bent the wrong way, a hit to an exposed neck, or a blow the the back of the head can still cause a shift in the flow of a fight!

However, there are some more notable differences with the elemental’s light at this stage. Now, should the elemental begin to exude its light and make physical contact with taint/darkness/undeath/etc it will sear the victim, similar to the pain that one gets for touching a hot stove. This pain will continue while the elemental and the taint are touching.

On the other hand, should the elemental be placed upon a wound while exuding its light, a soothing, numbing feeling will seep into the touched area. Any blood loss will also be slowed and the spread of poisons will be slowed. This, however, cannot heal wounds and simply buys the cleric time to address other issues/concerns at that moment.

Example Emotes of a Stage 2 Elemental:

(Stage 2 - Relaxed)

[!]The elemental bobs about the room investigating the room. A tabby cat slowly stretches as it’s crescent eyes focus on the elemental, following its movements as it leans back on its haunches. As the elemental stops and moves closer to a set of frying pans, investigating their handles, the cat launches a sneak attack! It lands on the ball, but its claws scrape feverishly at the smooth surface, attempting to sink into it! The ball panics and begins to spin quickly, trying to shake the animal from it as it cries loudly, its body knocking numerous pots and pans to the floor!

(Stage 2 - Combat)

[!] Dirt is balled into her fists as her fingers drag through the soil, trying to catch a second wind. As her opponent raises their weapon above their head, she quickly moves her hand.[!] A light flashes before the opponent's eyes as the elemental darts in front of them, smashing into their bare hand as they grip their sword. The smashing nature of the ball’s force upon their hand and the solid nature of the sword’s hilt causes their hand to pinch sharply, causing a sudden and unexpected pain that disarms them. The sword clangs to the floor which the elemental now guards, exuding its light through its, now, cracked form, deterring the dark assailant from nearing their sword.

Redlines for Stage 2 Elemental:

-While not as vulnerable as its previous stage, a couple strong blows can cause the shell to crack.

- If the element assists in attaching, its blunt attacks can damage its own body.

-The elemental must be exuding its light and making physical contact for the additional searing effect to take place when hitting tainted beings. Otherwise, it's only blunt damage.

-The elemental's natural light does not harm nor heal. It only causes tainted beings distress and unease and non tainted beings to feel calm.

-Like the previous stage, anytime the elemental exudes its light, its sacrificing its own light/life in the process.

-If the elemental stop providing a soothing light, the wound would revert back to how it was before the elemental intervened.

At Stage 2, the elemental can do so for roughly thirty seconds depending on how active it has been/how much light remains inside of it.

-Should the cleric's power allow it, the elemental will slowly grow in size, reaching the Stage 3 size at the appropriate time interval.

(A rough sketch of a Stage Three elemental in the midst of changing its shape.)

Stage 3 - 14 Days after creation

Description/Behavior: Should the elemental survive two years, great changes begin to happen to it due to the extended stay of a divine entity within the mortal realm. Because of its constant presence around descendants, and its ever curious search for knowledge and purity, the circular form of the elemental will begin to twist and change randomly, becoming more frequent the longer it remains in this stage. It will take shapes of random objects near it, as if trying to understand it more (often at the most inappropriate times!). However, when not undergoing a change, it will always return to its circular shape, now roughly the size of a beach ball. Its curious nature will allow the elemental to venture further out on its own, drawing it to adjacent rooms in which the cleric inhabits. Interestingly enough, due to the time spent with the cleric and the continuous additions of the cleric’s light that to its core, the elemental begins taking on personality traits of its cleric. A cleric whose naturally anxious may have an elemental that tends to move about erratically at times. While a cleric whose shy in crowds may have an elemental who tends to hide behind their cleric in a social setting.

Abilities: While the Elemental’s size is bigger than it has been in previous stages, it also utilizes its ability of altering its shape to create spiky protrusions on its body. These spikes can be used to make an offensive attack more threatening or be created as a defensive maneuver, like a porcupine curling inward, and deflect a single attack. However, upon contact with something physical, the spikes fade away, requiring the elemental to revert to its original, vulnerable, shape before reforming the spikes again.

Like its previous form, the elemental maintains a natural light that causes distress and unease within dark creatures that near it (Roughly a 2 block radius). This does not hurt tainted creatures and does not have any additional drain on the elemental, as it is simply existing.

Like its previous forms, the elemental retains the ability to exude its light around it causing a searing pain to anything tainted that it comes into physical contact with the elemental. Due to the increased amount of light within the elemental, it is able to exude its light for roughly a minute depending on its state previous to beginning to seep its light/life force outwards.

Upon impact, in its spiked form, the elemental would damage an enemy in a way akin to that of being struck with a spiked mace. However, while in a spiked form, the elemental will not damage itself when attacking like its previous stages could potentially do.

If the elemental's spikes are not manifested, it is in its vulnerable stage and can be struck easily like its previous stages.

The elemental retains its ability to exude its light in a soothing manner for allies, soothing wounds, slowing blood loss and the spread of poison. Because of the elemental's increased size, it is able to do this for a longer period of time than before. However, like all actions of the elemental, it slowly drains its own light/life force in the process.

Examples Emotes of a Stage 3 Elemental:

(Stage 3 - Relaxed)

[!]”And this, this is an apple.” She plucks a red one from the bowl of fruit and places it in front of the elemental. [!]It bobs slightly before beginning to converge into itself. The round sphere begins to shrink as the luminosity of the condensing light grows brighter as it gathers until it mimics the shape of the apple.[!] She laughs. “Good!” She picks up the red apple and bites into it, chewing slowly. [!] The elemental flickers quickly, before a side of it concaves, resembling a bite mark for a moment. [!]Suddenly, the elemental stops bobbing as it ‘looks’ to its cleric for a moment before rapidly expanding to its original size, its form knocking the table and scattering the fruit that remained in the bowl.

(Stage 3 - Combat)

[!] The tainted being screams in agony as spikes drag across its face, tearing chunks of its rotting flesh away with it. It stumbles sideways, away from the cleric as its head turns towards the elemental. [!] Its body rapidly grows and shrinks as the spikes it just used begins to fade, sparkling into nothingness as it pulls back slightly. [!] The cleric’s light curves inwards, forming a solid sphere that shines brightly of golden blue light! Their hand thrusts forward, shooting their creation towards the ghoul! [!] Another pained howl erupts its ever-gnawing mouth as holy light burns into it’s exposed back, causing it to double over in pain! [!] Small bumps begins to emerge from the elemental’s smooth circular surface, the beginnings of new spikes emerging as it sits still in its vulnerable state. [!] The cleric shifts their stance, becoming more solid and controlling in the fight as they pull their hand back, allowing light to begin to shine once more in it, converging again. [!] The elemental's spikes manifest fully, allowing the elemental to pull back and shoot forth into another attempted assault.

Redlines for Stage 3 Elemental

-While it not has the ability to manifest strong spikes to defend itself, if it is struck in its vulnerable state, it is only as sturdy as its previous form. A couple strong blows will crack the shell.

-If the element attacks in its spiked form, it does not damage its own body in the process.

-If the element is attacked in its spiked form, it deflects the attack.

-The elemental must be exuding its light and making physical contact for the additional searing effect to take place when hitting tainted beings. Otherwise, it's only blunt damage.

-If the spikes make physical contact with an enemy, in either an offensive or defensive way, the spikes will fade and need at least three emotes to reemerge. Example: Spikes fade away and the elelmental is vulnerable, the elemental sits still and begins to manifest spikes, spikes begin to push thru, spikes are fully emerged and ready to be used.

-The elemental's natural light does not harm nor heal. It only causes tainted beings distress and unease and non tainted beings to feel calm.

-Like the previous stages, anytime the elemental exudes its light, it is sacrificing its own light/life force in the process.

-If the elemental stops providing a soothing light, the wound will revert back to how it was before the elemental intervened.

-At Stage 3, the elemental can exude its light for roughly a minute, depending on how active/how much light remained inside of it.

-Should the cleric's power allow it, the elemental will slowly grow in size, reaching Stage 4 at the appropriate time interval.

(A rough sketch of an elemental preparing to train with its cleric.)

Stage 4 - 30 Days after creation

Description/Behavior: As the elemental nears full maturity, its elasticity and ability to change shape begins to wane and instead, it begins to take on a fluid humanoid shape. This shape would reach that of about a small Dwarf, one that can now only hover off the ground slightly, of course. In this phase, the curiosity it once had has diminished, becoming less child like and more of an adult. Its primary focus, in a relaxed setting, is no longer to learn and study, but protect its owner and assist them in any way possible. To improve upon this, the spikes it once was able to produce now retract and form rough and basic hand like appendages. However, even with it’s hands, the ability to utilize them fully, and correctly, are still out of its grasp. (No pun intended).  Examples: A light elemental will be able to carry a bucket of water easily, but it will struggle with picking up a quill. A light elemental will be able to support an unconscious individual, keeping them in a sitting position, but will not be able to carry the individual. To further assist the cleric, the elemental is also capable of now exploring the entirety of a floor of a large home, fetching things that it believes its cleric may (or may not….) need.

Abilities: As said, the spikes it once had have retracted and converged into makeshift arms and fists. However, these limbs retain the spikes hardiness, allowing their attempted attacks to no longer harm their physical body. Likewise, should the elemental block with their arms, they would be twice as resistant as if they were attacked elsewhere on their form. Meaning, where three blows to the body may have done significant damage to the elemental's body, six blows to the hands/arms are now needed to achieve the same effect.

Like its previous forms, the elemental maintains its natural light that causes unease and distress to tainted beings that near it. This does not cause pain and reaches roughly a 2 block radius.

Like its previous forms, the elemental retains the ability to exude its light around it. Due to the increased amount of light within the elemental, it is able to exude its light for roughly a minute and a half, causing a searing pain to any tainted beings that come into physical contact with the elemental. Like any action the elemental does, this drains the elemental's life/life force quickly and over use will cause it to perish.

While the elemental maintains all of its previous healing capabilities, it now has the ability to move its hand over a wound. Such a gesture will allow the elemental to exude a soothing light onto this wound, stabilizing the wound for the duration that the elemental maintains contact with it. As stated, the elemental is about to exude its light for roughly one minute and thirty seconds and should the elemental break contact with the wound, it reverts back to its unstable state. During this process, similar to clerical healing, the elemental is immobile, vulnerable, and easily interruptable.

Example Emotes of a Stage 4 Elemental:

(Stage 4 - Relaxed)

[!] The elemental drifts in, a bucket of water dangling in its hands. The slight bobbing nature of it that remains causes some of the water to splash onto the floor leaving a trail in its wake. [!] “Thanks…” She replies as she takes the cloth and dunks it into the cool water of the bucket. She wrings the cloth out lightly before moving it onto the patient's forehead once more. [!] The elemental sets the bucket on the floor next to the bed. [!] “Can you bring me that vial?” She asks, focusing her attention on the patient. [!] The elemental turns and looks at a small rack of vials that sit on a table. It tries, numerous times, to pick up the vial with its rough hands, knocking the other vials around haphazardly. It finally becomes frustrated and picks up the entire rack, and brings it over, splashing the many vials’ contents in the process. It thrusts the rack of vials at her. [!] She sighs, taking the single vial she needed, now more than half emptied, and realizes her foolhardy request. “Thanks….I guess…”

(Stage 4 - Combat)

[!] “Keep him alive!” She’d scream as she willed more light into her shield. The pale knight’s large axe creating sparks of light as it pressed upon it with its might, her sheer will and determination repelling the attack. [!] The elemental would hum loudly in response as it bobbed behind her, moving its hands over to the bleeding individual that laid upon the ground, their body crumpled and broken. Their light shined softly onto a small gash by their neck, small yet lethal if unattended. It’s bobbing came to an end as the elemental’s hum softened, light cascaded down towards the gash. [!] The pale knight applied more force with its axe, causing the cleric’s legs to begin to shake and buckle before pulling off of it and stepping back to prepare for a second swing. [!] The cleric’s form, close to the ground from the pressure of the attack, would use this position to spring upwards. The remainder of the shield dispersing as she launched herself upwards and returned to glow dimly in her gauntlets. Her armored fingers latch onto the knights bulky body, pulling herself upwards until her face is on level with its as she raises her free hand and thrusts its glowing form towards the opened visor of its hollow shell. [!]The elemental’s light shines brightly on the gash, seeping into the wound. The blood loss halts as the light stabilizes it as the elemental remains stationary and vulnerable to interruption, its light slowly dimming as this process continues.

Redlines for Stage 4 Elemental

-The elemental must take on a rough humanoid appearance.

-While the elemental no longer has the ability to manifest spikes to defend itself, it has basic arms and hands to punch/claw and block with.

-The body of the elemental is still vulnerable, only the arms and hands have increased resistance to incoming attacks.

-The elemental must be exuding its light and make physical contact for the additional searing effect to take place. Otherwise, it's just blunt damage.

-The elemental's natural light does not harm nor heal. It only causes tainted beings distress and unease and non tainted beings to feel calm.

-Like the previous stages, anytime the elemental is exuding its light, it is sacrificing its own light/life force in the process.

-At Stage 4, the elemental can exude its light for roughly a minute and a half depending on how active it was/how much light remains inside of it.

-Should the elemental break physical contact while stabilizing a wound, the wound immediately reverts to how it was prior to elemental intervention.

-The Stage 4 Elemental can only stabilize external wounds that it can see and move its hands onto.

-Should the cleric's power allow it, the elemental will slowly grow (or shrink) in size. reaching Stage 5 at the appropriate time interval.

(A rough sketch of a large War Elemental awaiting commands.)

Stage 5(Final Form) - 2 Months after creation*

*After this transformation, an elemental slowly begins to change into either a War or Restorative Elemental. Their additional abilities are granted upon their original transformation and must be trained and strengthened, like a normal magic, for another 15 Days until they gain access to their abilities.*

Description/Behavior: The final stage of the light elemental’s maturity, losing all elasticity and becoming a solid being. At this point the Light within the elemental has grown alongside the cleric for so long that it takes upon the traits of the cleric’s soul. Unlike an individual’s exterior, their soul shows their true traits, pains, feelings, and self, even when they try to hide it physically from others. An example: Should an individual appear to be a strong and brave individual on the outside to others, but truly fearful of being alone in the world due to some traumatic childhood incident, the elemental will take upon the visage of a small, youthful, individual that wears a mask. On the other side, however, should a small woman appear to be always smiling and helpful, but great rage lies inside of her that she hides, her elemental may become quite large, intimidating, and almost monstrous (like the above image).

(Note: Regardless of the elements size, the amount of light inside of it does not differ between elementals.)

This is the only stage where an elemental will truly be able to be discerned from others, meaning if an individual knows of a cleric's elemental they will recognize it. However, as time goes on and a person grows/changes, their elemental will also grow/change along with it. This is not a quick process and will take place over years of reflection and self-realization.

The elemental’s size however does affect its physical abilities. A larger elemental will have more brute strength behind it, but be slower. While a smaller elemental will be quick and agile, but it’s strength will be lacking. (An elemental will never be strong enough to lift more than one full grown adult at a time or move faster than a sprinting individual.)

With its new form, the elemental will have the ability to move freely inside of a large home, assisting the cleric with their duties. While their form may have changed their bodies, their hands may have also become more perfect, allowing them to handle smaller objects better (usually a trait of a smaller elemental) or more animalistic and clawed like which is better for fighting (usually a trait of a larger elemental).

However, an elemental is unique from others, it is a creation from pieces of a cleric’s soul in its perfect and pure state. Their appearance is to reflect your character’s internal weaknesses but also their strengths. Have fun with it, but also be realistic. If you have a question if something is too much, feel free to ask first.

Abilities: Upon reaching full maturity, an elemental will become one of two things when it changes into its final form based on its clerics focus:a healing-specialized elemental or a combat-specialized elemental. This process begins at the aforementioned time, but the elemental trains their new powers over the next fifteen days to perfect them, taking a total of 2.5 Months to reach.

War Elemental: An elemental of this type belongs to a cleric that focuses their time and training on their combative magic. Mirroring their clerics drive in battle, an elemental of this type will develop thick armored bracelets, forged from the Light within it. These bracelets will be used to block and deflect attacks upon itself or others.

Extremely durable and protective, these bracelets have been called the “The Shields of the Light” due to their origin, but also their ability to create a temporary blinding light when banged together that will affect anyone in the immediate surrounding area that is not currently connected to Tahariae. (This blindness is not permanent and lasts for roughly three seconds to a 'Gray' individual and five seconds to a 'Dark' individual. This blindness has no effect on 'Light' beings or connected clerics.)

Should the bracelets become damaged in battle, a light elemental will simply need to infuse the cracks and dents with its Light, taking roughly thirty minutes to repair. Should a bracelet be entirely destroyed, it will require the elemental to forge a new bracelet, requiring roughly six hours and a sizable amount of Light to do so. A cleric should assist their elemental with this, tending to its Light during and after the process as it will be in a weakened state.

Although this elemental is still toughened for battle and its armguards are an amazing defense, its body is still vulnerable. Roughly five strong blows to the War Elemental's body will cause it to crack. Yet, if the blows strike the armguards, the elemental's body does not take any damage and instead, the armguards are slowly broken. Every defense has a weakness, so plan accordingly.

Restorative Elemental: An elemental of this type belongs to a cleric that focuses their time and training on their healing magic. Mirroring their clerics focus on wounds and healing, an elemental of this type will develop the ability to infuse an individual with Searching Light by merely touching them, exposing their internal wounds and impurities to the cleric and elemental. Once such impurities and wounds are found, the light will wrap itself around the internal injuries and temporarily stabilize(but not heal) these. Should the elemental break contact, the stabilized wounds, both internal and external, revert back to their unstable state.

Moreover, a restorative elemental now has the ability dubbed “Tahariae’s Embrace”. The elemental will wrap an individual in an embrace and allows its light to seep into the individual. Much like Prayer of Rejuvenation, this will invigorate and reenergize the individual throughout the duration of the embrace. Should the elemental be undisturbed and allowed to embrace the individual for roughly an entire minute, the individual will feel as if they had awoken from a full nights rest. If the elemental in interrupted, the elemental still sacrifices the entire amount of light that would have entered the individual, which is roughly half of a full Restorative Elemental's allotment. This means that an elemental at full power can only do this twice in one sitting before being unable to do much more than simply bob around slowly while it waits for its cleric to feed it. Any further excessive commands or combat on the elemental will deplete it entirely.

Example Emotes of a Tier 5 Elemental (War and Restorative Included):

(Tier 5 Large - Relaxed)

[!]The old village elder looks upwards at the silent being that hovers next to the cleric. “Thank...Thank you for your….assistance.” His voice slow and unfocused upon her. [!] Her small frame sighs lightly, moving a hair from her face, a sheen of perspiration settled upon her forehead. “Not a problem, we will return within a few days time to ensure the protections we erected for your village are secure.” [!] The golden behemoth hums softly as it remains still, its gaze focused on the man the cleric addressed, never blinking and never fazing. [!] The old man coughs to clear his throat, shaking his head as he breaks his awestruck gaze at the elemental. “Yes...few days….thanks again…” He’d end with a slight nod. [!] The cleric would slowly turn, her soft and small steps leading her out of the village entrance and into the forest with time. [!] The elemental’s form would slowly turn, its movements slow and formidable. It’s monstrous visage would follow the cleric’s movements and fall upon her as it’s being began to follow her, a slight bobbing occurring with each ‘step’ as it followed its partner.

(Tier 5 Small- Relaxed)

[!]A small figure peeks from behind the cleric’s legs, a mask upon its face, to gaze upon a human child of similar size and shape. It quickly ducks behind the cleric once it realizes it had been spotted by the excited child. [!] The cleric smiles from behind his well kept beard and mustache. He lowers a hand and rubs it upon the head of the shining masked figure. “Why don’t you play with young James while I tend to his father’s injury?” He asks. [!] The young boy jumps up excitedly. “Oh yes! Papa just got me a new ball! Would you like to see?” [!] The shining figure leans from behind the cleric’s legs and gives a nod. Its small form bobs towards the child as they begin to play with their small toy together. [!] The cleric turns towards the father who sits at the kitchen table, a crimson-stained cloth pressed against his forearm. “So, slipped with the carving knife again, eh?” He asks with a slight grin and an all too well familiarity with the scene. He opens his satchel of medical supplies, removing herbs and cloth and begins to tend to the wound.

(Tier 5 War - Combat)

[!]The silver feminine figure hums as their silver bracelets lift up over her head in a criss-cross manner. The graven’s weapon would strike them, causing the blade to deflect from its form.[!] The graven’s arm recoils, hissing as it lowers its arm from its raised position and prepares for the next assault. [!] The blonde cleric looked over her armored arm for a brief moment, ensuring her partner’s fight was going well before returning to her own enemies. The warmth on her back from the elemental’s presence reassuring her as flames began to erupt from her hand as she focused on the ghouls before her. [!] The youthful silver figure brings her arms together with such a force that a bright light shines from the bracelets. The light encompasses the entirety of the immediate area, momentarily blinding their enemies with its light. Within the light, the silver shining eyes of the cleric and the elemental would be unaffected, as the elemental uses the moment to strike out towards the graven, causing holy fire to erupt upon contact.

(Tier 5 Restorative - Combat)

[!] The groaning of the wounded on the streets is only drowned out by the screeching of the hellish beasts that blot out sun’s rays. The cleric reaches up to his light brown hair and pulls the strand of rope that held his hair in a tight bun. His hair falls down onto his shoulders as he wraps the strand of rope around the child’s bleeding arm, acting as a makeshift tourniquet in the hellish landscape. His eyes flash with blue as the clattering of claws quickly approaches him and the group of wounded. He looks over his shoulder as a rotting beast rushes at his hunched form, its claws out like daggers. [!] The beast screeches in pain as silver light erupts from the left side of its body, sending it rolling to the side as it screams in burning pain. The anxious form of a blue mali’ame pulls back its arms after shoving the beast off its path to its cleric before bobbing over to him, looking over them for wounds. [!] “I can’t….I can’t tend to them all…..” He says as he looks over the group of wounded and dying. He breathes in deeply as he looks from them to his companion. “We’ve...You’ve…..” He’d start, unable to finish his words. [!] The small elemental’s bobbing would lessen as it gives a slow nod to its creator then move behind the cleric. The elemental would slowly lift their arms and look back to its creator, a look of duty yet sadness upon its face. [!] The cleric rose slightly and moved towards another gravely wounded individual. With his voice sad and heavy he’d utter “Thank you....” before causing his own hands to shine a soft blue as he began to heal an individual. [!] The elemental’s body would shine brightly for a moment before its long arms wrapped around the cleric's back and embraced him tightly. Wrapping its light around the man, allowing it's light to seep from it and into his partner. Slowly, the cleric's breathing would become easier and his blurry vision faded as the rejuvenating light pushes exhaustion from his mind as he maintained focus on the wounded. But, as each moment passed, the elemental's body grew dimmer, its form less visible. Yet it never strayed from its course, its focus remaining on its tirelessly working creator until it no longer maintained the strength to keep its eyes open, allowing darkness to swallow it as the image of its cleric faded alongside it.

Redlines for Stage 5 Elementals

-The elemental must be humanoid and its appearance relevant to the true nature of your cleric

-Be creative, but realistic and appropriate.

-The elemental's natural light only causes distress and unease to tainted beings and comfort to non-tainted beings nearby, in a 2 block radius.

-At Stage 5, the elemental is able to exude its light for roughly two minutes. depending on how active it was/ the amount of Light within it before it began.

-The maximum light within an elemental does not change with its size. A small one can have just as much as a large one.

-The size of the elemental does determine that physical power and speed of it. Larger being stronger yet slower and vice versa.

-The strength and speed of the elementals can not exceed that of a normal person.

-Like everything an elemental does, using their abilities and combat skills drains their light/life force.

-The War Elemental's blinding light is never stronger than a T1 Palm of Light.

-The armguards are durable but not impossible to be broken. They will require roughly 10 strong blows from a normal person to shatter.

-Hits to the armguards do not damage the elemental's shell, they are its shield. Its body remains vulnerable, needing roughly half the hits to crack it.

-The blinding light of the War Elemental should not be used more than twice in a fight else you run the risk of killing your elemental.

-The Restorative Elemental's searching light will show both it and the cleric the wounds and impurities within.

-The Restorative Elemental can stabilize internal wounds for roughly two minutes, if this is all it does.

-The Restorative Elemental must maintain contact, otherwise the wounds will revert back to their unstable forms.

-Tahariae's Embrace requires the elemental to be physically hugging the individual.

-If the elemental breaks contact at any point of the embrace, the remainder energy that was meant for the individual is lost.

-The individual the elemental is embracing must not be in active combat.

-The rejuvenating light of the elemental cannot be used more than twice in a fight else you run the risk of killing your elemental.

Destruction

Although the elementals are powerful allies to the clerics in their later stages, early on they are extremely vulnerable and must be protected. Yet, with enough force, an elemental’s body is able to be broken, allowing for the light within to quickly begin to leak away. A decent sized leak could cause an elemental to fade within minutes, causing the being to disappear and the shell to shatter forever.

However, should an elemental’s body truly be shattered, and the light unable to slip away slowly, a violent reaction will occur as the light relishes in its new found freedom. Beings of taint, darkness, or undeath will become badly seared by this explosion. The effect of the burst of light depends on how close the tainted being is to the elemental upon shattering, less effective the further they are from the blast.

Should an elemental be destroyed, it is lost forever. A cleric must recreate it from the beginning and slowly nurture it to have a partner of equal capabilities once more. There is no way to speed this process up, as the time spent with your companion is meant to not only strengthen the elemental, but your bond with it as well.

Because of this bond, a cleric will feel a sense of loss should it be destroyed. Whether it is because of the constant companionship between the two or the fact that it was slowly becoming a mirror copy of its soul, remains unknown. However, the longer the cleric was with the elemental, the stronger the sense of loss. This will abate with time, but will impact the cleric.

Example Emotes of an Elemental’s Death:

(Destruction - Leaking)

The elemental’s speed dwindled as it tried to follow behind the cleric as they raced through the dangerous forest. “We’re almost there! Just hold on!” The youth shouted as their silver light led the way before them through the dense overgrowth.

But the elemental’s pace slowed, its hovering altitude lessening as the wound it sustained slowly took over. With each moment, silvery wisps of light were leaking from its cracked form, a lethal blow from a dark creature that lumbered through the forest after them.

The cleric turned, only soon enough to catch their friend as they fell from the sky. “No, please. Please! We’re almost to the temple! Karyssmov will fix you! You’ll be okay!” Grief and worry began to take hold of the youth as he knelt on the forest floor, the trees of the forest splintered and fell as the creature lumbered closer.

But in those few moments, the elemental’s light shined brightly one final time before the last of its silver core leaked out into the darkness around them. The empty core sat in the trembling hands of the grief-stricken cleric as they watched the shell’s cracks spread across its entirety before splitting into two.

(Destruction - Depletion of Light)

“Gray! There’s another one!”

Gray ran towards the voice as the shadows of night wrapped around the town square. The small elemental held onto his robe’s tail, flailing in the breeze behind him as he let Gray carry him.

The shouting voice pointed to the bleeding man, the sword thrusted through his gut.

“Damn...bandits…” the man groaned, coughing up blood as he wheezed.

Gray’s hands moved towards the wound and began to heal, but a wave of nausea and exhaustion washed over him. His efforts this night were heroic, but he was still but a single man. His limits were being pushed as is, and now this man needed his aid, but he couldn’t provide, he couldn’t-

A small golden hand sat upon his, the warmth running over Gray and rejuvenating him slowly. Gray’s eyes widened as he watched his small companion look up at him, a everlasting smile plastered on his masked face.

“No….No I can do it, don’t push yourself!” He shouted, trying to pull away.from the small elemental as he lied to it and himself. But the tired elemental held on, giving Gray the last of it energy in order to save the man’s life.

With a final high pitched hum, the golden light faded from the shell, leaving an empty shell of a small masked child hovering in the air for a moment before falling to the stone road and shattering before Gray’s tearful eyes.

(Destruction - Shatter)

The flames of the farm house burned brightly.

“Go!” Alem’shun shouted loudly to the children huddles in the corner of the burning barn.

The children, stricken with fear, stayed there, shaking and staring wide-eyed at the cleric.

Alem’shun moved over to them, coughing as the smoke of the barn began to fill his lungs. “I know you are scared, young ones.” The high elf preached. “But we must go!”

The children continued to stare at him, wide eyed and frozen in fear. With a grunt, Alem’shun reached forward, grabbing for one of the child’s arm. But as his hand gripped their clothing, the child raised their arm and pointed. Only then did the cleric realize the child had not been staring at him in fear, but staring at what stood behind him.

He quickly turned in the smoke, only to see the spiked mace of the dread knight that had lumbered into the burning barn being swung at him and the children.

A sudden flash of white light darts through the smoke, illuminating the beast’s massive form, as Alem’shun’s elemental intercepts the spiked mace and takes the lethal blow for him.

The massive blow presses into the elemental, causing it to almost bend. The cleric quickly turns and covers the children, knowing what was to come. For the elemental’s shell gave way, shattering into millions of pieces and unleashing the stored power into an explosion of holy energy.

The force knocks the beast backwards, causing it to stumble towards the way it came, knocking a supporting beam down. The burning barn begins to crumble and collapse from this While the victims use this as an opportunity to bash against a weakened wall and tumble outside onto the cool grass..

With groans of pain and deep breaths after the wind had been knocked from them, the cleric stands slowly, helping the children to their feet as they limp away, bleeding and hurt, from the burning scene and death of his partner.

General Redlines

  • You cannot FTB with a light elemental.

  • A cleric can only have one elemental at a time.

  • A cleric must be taught how to create a shell.

  • A cleric must be taught how to refill and repair their elemental.

  • A cleric’s elemental takes on the color of their light.

  • A cleric does not need to be connected to interact with their elemental.

  • Be creative with your Tier 5 shape, allow the light elemental to give insight to your character's inner self. But keep it humanoid. Don't PG.

  • A cleric’s elemental cannot act on its own in combat unless it is attempting to defend its cleric.

  • The cleric’s survival and well-being is always put before the elemental’s.

  • The Tier 3 Elemental is the only stage that has spikes, and it takes at least 3 Emotes to resummon the spikes.

  • The Tier 3 Elemental is not able to shapeshift into things on command and cannot shapeshift into weapons or shields for combat.

  • The elemental cannot speak. It can flicker, dim and shine, hum, drone, chime, other simple noises to show acknowledgement, but it cannot hold a true conversation.

  • The elemental cannot alert a cleric of people hiding from view. aka: No Meta.

  • A light elemental can never heal a wound directly. It can only stabilize a wound at most tiers. If the soothing light is removed from the wound, the wound is no longer stable.

  • The elemental is born through the light that passes through a cleric’s soul, allowing them to take on personality traits and looks of the cleric’s soul. This also means the cleric has a deep emotional cleric to the elemental, as if it was a child.

  • Should the elemental be destroyed, the cleric must experience emotional grief at that very moment, even if it prevents the cleric from continuing combat. The severity of the grief and it’s lasting impact is based upon the length of time they were connected.

  • If a cleric is knocked out of a fight or killed, the elemental continues to exist unless it is specifically killed. The elemental will continue to defend the cleric’s body should the cleric be knocked out. If the cleric is killed and revived by monks, the elemental will search out their cleric.

  • A cleric must emote the presence of their elemental, allowing all nearby to be aware of its existence in both ordinary and combat situations.

  • A War Elemental cannot suddenly shift into a Restorative Elemental. Like how an elemental can change shape over time with years of reflection by the cleric, should the cleric’s focus shift to a more healing oriented role, the elemental can shift as well.

  • Elementals cannot utilize man-made weapons, shields, or armor.

  • Elementals can appear to have armor on them, IE: if a cleric’s soul is protective and they wished their elemental was an armor-clad knight. However the armor does nothing and acts as their normal body.

  • If hit with Fi’ magic, the elemental is knocked ‘unconscious’ for the duration of the encounter until revived by the cleric.

  • While the elemental is able to exude it's light, it will not hurt tainted beings unless physical contact takes place. If a tainted being is nearby, the light it exudes will simply make the tainted being uncomfortable or nauseous like normally happens in the presence of holy light.

  • Most importantly, if your elemental is killed, regardless of its stage, in RP you MUST start from the beginning. To achieve 'full power', this process takes 2.5 Months of training to achieve.

On Implementation:

Aside from having to learn this new art, like other magical additions, I'd like to suggest the following for this magical companion:

Upon creation in character the Cleric is to make a CA themselves for the creature. The cleric themselves will be the representative of the elemental that belongs to them. See it as a pet-owner relationship, a system akin to service animals. But this one requires its own CA so proper role play is assured.

Spoiler

Thanks for taking time to read the lore. If you'd prefer to read it on a G-Doc, here's the link:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1T2IcxenAiigDeV98V552MHlJss0EEpKaTjCXY2kH5-o/edit

Shout outs go to the clerics I ran the idea by and helped me formulate some of the things they'd like to be able to do with their own partners, from silly things to serious.

Thanks to the many times I asked people to proofread this for me, I'm sure there's still mistakes in there.

Thanks to the staff members that helped me look this over, both LT and MT, @Hedgehug , @Toodles,  Leo. (You may not be staff now, but you've been there while I worked on this for a few months!)

Thanks to @Jlyoko for making me a cleric in the first place and helping me sculpt it into something enjoyable for many.

Thanks to @SeventhCircle  for helping with some of the redlines and pictures to help describe things.

Thanks to @Greekbro33 for constantly nagging me to finish the lore.

Thanks to @ChumpChump for being my hero and keeping me sane throughout this.

As to why I made this, I don't know. I had the idea for a Tamagotchi-esque pet, something that you took care of every day and it slowly grew with you and become something entirely different and new if you nurtured it. I think it could help with the lack of 'cool' things that other deity groups get towards the end of their power climb, like shapeshifting, soul trees, Keepers, etc. I think it's something that's unique and it could make for some interesting role play. But most importantly, it just seems like a fun thing and thinking of an elemental that keeps bumping into walls or changing shape into inappropriate things at inappropriate times to be hilarious, like going to attack an enemy and shifting into a teddy bear.

Anyway, thanks for reading.

Interesting, I whole heartily believe it could be a worthwhile addition to clericalism and honestly it gives a bit more flavor to the alteration side of the magic which is what these seems to fall under since it's a combination of warding and blessing. So I hope to see this get accepted I know my cleric would find a new pal to be a great addition to his clerical rp.

So with out further ado

Hell yeah. Extra depth to magic and allows a mentor and their student to have further rp. +1

Considering druids are disallowed from RPing for animals that are assisting them, and also considering the RP confusion that stems from having one player emote for themselves and a creature that can grow to be as large as you propose here, I cannot support this unless the elemental is played by a separate player. (Or perhaps maybe the cleric can become one themselves?)

Also I hate that this has to be included.

A cleric can name their light elemental.

You can put clothes on your elemental, but it would look weird.

So you want to make a mobile ward, which also is capable of shooting and healing people, when we already have plenty of problems with stagnate wards that don't even do half that.

Additionally we've had a lot of trouble with holy constructs in the past, example being itharel, from stuff being RP'd wrongly or that it was PG'd. I'm rather curious to see what you plan on doing to prevent that from happening again.

I didn't read the entire article, if I'm honest with you, but that's my two cents regarding what I did read.

At some later point I might make a followup with more detail, but at this current time I'll leave it at this.

Um?

Not sure what you mean about druids not being allowed to RP for animals that are assisting them. I've personally seen ker'wolves being RPed attacking people, hawks flying down from the sky and attacking, and hunters having their hunting dogs chase after people. I've even heard of Druids turning into ents to defend their soul trees.

As for the confusion, I see it no more confusing than when multiple people are RP fighting.

FTB Rule was suggested by a MT and LM.

Never given your friend a nickname?

There's golems walking around with scarves and dresses, one even wore a wedding dress once. I don't think there's an issue with putting a scarf or hat on your elemental for some enjoyable and fun RP!

Why does the death of a being of light cause concussive force?

It's the idea that you're forcing X amount of power into such a small space and the sudden release allows it to simply burst forth.

Depending on the elemental's 'power level', as in is it fresh? has it lose some of its power from battling for some time? is it weak? etc., the effect would obviously be less.

Incorrect.

They cannot shoot nor heal people.

At most, something that takes 2.5 Months to get can help heal decent cuts, nothing traumatic and nothing that couldn't be healed with some bandages and times, by energizing the wound and encouraging natural healing. The only real 'healing' they're capable of doing is stabilizing a wound until a cleric can actually heal it.

Not once is 'shooting' mentioned.

And they are not wards. If a tainted creature does get near it they'll feel uncomfortable, just like they already do around sources of divine light, but it will not out them. Only if a tainted creature touches it will any affect take place, just like how holy light already interacts with taint.

I really like the concept, but I don't think this is needed at all. And I even play a cleric. I dislike entirely that it's a very combat orientated addition, I would be less against this if it was not a combat based 'pet'.

Its as much of a combat based pet as you want it to be, which is why I gave examples of how it could influence and encourage RP in both a Relaxed and Combative setting.

The first few stages of life, all the object can do is headbutt things.

For one stage it gets a whip like tendril. It loses this when it grows.

For one stage, it can punch like gumby, doing less damage the further away you are. It loses this when it grows.

The final stage, it punches and, if you went down the combat route, can block.

It doesn't cast any war clerical spells, it doesn't shoot orbs of light, it doesn't manifest weapons, it doesn't cast flames.

Otherwise it's an RP familiar friend for funny moments that you bond with.

Ah, forgive me, I used the wrong word choice, I meant to say "attack", and was referring to this,

" Now, should the elemental begin to exude its light and make physical contact with taint/darkness/undeath/etc it will sear the victim, similar to the pain that one gets for touching a hot stove. This pain will continue while the elemental and the taint are touching and, like any fresh burn, continue to cause them pain for numerous moments afterwards "

This is a natural ability of any cleric, to simply let their light flow out of them and those nearby will be effected by it within a certain radius.

While the cleric simply expends their Light and their exhaustion, the elemental is expending their own life, weakening itself in the process and potentially killing itself. (See Destruction Point Two)

If you are concerned that people are going to use this as a meta tool, where people just shove their elemental in people's faces to look for a reaction, than yea I agree that isn't cool and I'm happy to add a red line to it.

But if you're wanting to just approach a manifested divine light and their cleric (As the being can't leave the side of the cleric so they're always nearby) as a dark creature and not want to experience some sort of nausea or unsteadiness when nearing it, well I think that's a bit silly.
