August would be met with disappointment as she is soon told the results of dismantling and trying to figure out how to make the jump drive work properly, it had failed horribly; the science team could not come up with any reasonable explanation as to why or how it worked and why it malfunctioned. So, August decided to stop focusing on what HAD brought them here and look to the current and future; they had just found an alien spacecraft near by. Immediately large teams of soldiers, scientists and engineers are organized and dispatched to form a secure perimeter around the spacecraft and begin studying its design and the possibility of learning anything from it. They first started to study the deceased alien in the suit who had almost obviously died from either the crash or from an unknown attack, most likely the crash was what did it but the everyone could not rule out an attack. Once the perimeter around the downed spacecraft was properly established they would be looking to the spacecraft going to attempt to look further into the ship; being cautious as they send in teams of soldiers, scientists and engineers.

Meanwhile in the colony the ship that had brought them here would steadily and carefully begin being properly deconstructed and its power cells/system would be contributed to the start of a large scale facility that would be built a distance away from the actual colony. Its purpose would be to create both small and medium ships for space purposes while, the large creatures that roamed the planet they had settled on would prove to be an annoyance and a difficulty as they interrupt some construction but other wise would be gentle creatures save for the carnivores however they would be easily dealt with after a few shots are fired at them to make them stay away.

~Ap points~

  • 1 AP is used beginning a creation of a large scale mining operation away from the colony, using the colonies current scout crafts to help transport supplies while routes are made and properly secured.

  • 1 AP is used in inspecting the alien spacecraft, the strange medicine and dead bodies being searched and analyzed along with the ship itself in large teams.

  • 1 AP is used deconstructing the Ark which until now had been a storage hub and the beginning of a large spacecraft facility which would be built a good distance from the actual colony which continues to build around and in the mountain.

  • 1 AP the colonies science division begins to search for a way to mimic the jump drive, trying to use it as something to go off if possible. If the jump drive wasn't any help they would try to improve upon the propulsion system they had currently.

"What in the name of Johnny Curtain's fuzzy sack do you mean they can't figure it out?!"

Steve was not in the best of moods. A fact that Phillip, his Maori super-accountant, knew better than anyone right now.

"Mr Penrith, the Head Engineer states that the design of the "Jump drive" is simply too eclectic to reverse-engineer. For all intents and purposes, it shouldn't work. But it just does. Also, they've now broken it. Apparently they can't reconstruct it and make it operate-"

"I pay that woman. I bought her labour. Her labour was trash. She's done. Fire her."

"She's the only one with the expertise, sir. We c-"

"I know, I know, Phil." Steve slumped down into his roomy, leather office chair, and massaged his temples. "Just let me rant. And I take it the scout-vessels were not constructed either?"

"Er, yes sir. Without engine schematics, they couldn't design the hull."

"Arse. Arse arse. Bloody arse."

"Also, there's the other matter of-"

"Well, bugger me. Alright. We'll have to make do for now. We'll take the loss on the nose, and now we have to adapt our business model to these new parameters. Take this down, Phil."

Glad to move on, Phillip turned on his attention to his dictation-pad.

"Clearly, rather than finding customers just yet, it's a far more Hephaestus-friendly to scout for mineral deposits, and improve our production facilities to manufacture better products for future trade-partners. Pre-fab factories are working acceptably, but if we're going to provide quality products for galactic citizens/people/things, we need to improve our production facilities. We will still build the sight-seeing ships, but instead these will be scouting the planets or... er..."

"Planetoids, sir?"

"Yeah yeah! Planetoids that are currently orbiting our sun. Did we name our sun...?"

"No, sir."

"We'll have a contest for that. Winner gets a free microwave. Gotta move more of those things. Anyway, we'll scout for resources, and later build space stations in orbit above them. Can we do that...?"

"With better facilities we could probably construct small hab-stations, Mr Penrith."

"Fan-bloody-tastic."

"Sir, may we talk about the ship detected in the outermost parts of the solar-system yet?"

"Ship? A bloody ship?! Good god, Phil! Why didn't you say something yesterday?!"

"We... we didn't detect it yeste-"

"Customers, Phil! Bloody customers! Aw, **** me we aren't prepared! Ah... but it's only one ship..."

"Sir?"

"Put the factories on alert, and get the products boxed and presentable. Beam ads at those buggers. Prices are slashed, Phil! Slashed to all hell! Especially the microwaves! We need to build customer trust! Profits be damned! For now..."

"Would you like me to send in your secretary, sir?"

"Yes."

All around the main colony, the shareholders were abuzz with excitement over possible customers. Moreso, that they could be weird aliens. First contact would be neat, and selling them stuff would be even neater! But with that, other parties become more concerned with possible threats from this strange spacecraft. Interest in the security forces swells.

A chill sits upon the city of New Shanghai as people rush to their places of work during this cold winter, they had become accustomed to the mild nature of the moon, that when a bi-yearly solar eclipse occurred, even if only for an hour they were incredibly cold, even though the temperatures had dropped to around only -5 celcius. Good news was heralded, they had found many resources some alike to earth, while some where brand new and had yet to be studied. Of course they only mined the ones they had knowledge of first, comissioned to mine it for a project the government was beginning to work on.

As the days went on more and more people were comissioned to begin the first factories, using earth technology they were made from the very caverns in which the minerals were mined in, meaning a very short transport journey. The thing carbon dioxide was to be pumped out from the roof of the soil into the atmosphere.

The Saga Initiative

June 28th, 2108

“HEY! YOU TWO WHAT IS THE POINT OF THAT!” A middle-aged women stood there looking across the lab at two young scientist fighting each other, she directed two of her protection force to go break it up and bring them over here. As the were grabbed they were brought over to her, the two men stood around 6 feet tall which was giant to the 5’2 doctor. She reached up and slapped both of them on the back of the head, “You two idiots. I get this is frustrating but keep your head on straight, we can’t get through this without each other. You know who I am, i’ll respect everyone until you do stupid crap like that while on my time.” She looked at the two glaring into their saddened eyes, “Look. The council has agreed for us to move on from the project for now as it’s ineffective. We are going to be moving onto this new element that was discovered in the mine, and we are going to be working on developing new types of spaceships. It’s going to be the new navy.” She looked at them both now smiling and they both smiled back.

This scientist Dr. Aubrey Needler, was somewhat old for the initiative’s standards but she was extremely valuable to their efforts. She was an expert in astrophysics and quantum physics. She was what many considered a freak with smarts. She was a one of a kind scientist and someone who was invaluable in the eyes of Ben and the others, which made her the top of the list for the IPG. She was extremely active in the field and always wanted to be hands on more than in the lab. It made her liked by a lot of the IPG and the leaders of the council. She was rarely a drain on resources, but that was about to change and Ben was ready to grant that change.

She hoped in the all-terrain land rover with Ben and Zach along with two IPG agents. They were followed by two other vehicles, one was a transport truck carrying soldiers and scientist and the other was a supply truck carrying mining laser, electromagnets, and other things to test the property of the mineral. They would perform basic geologic mineral test at first to determine it’s properties and then go deeper in depth with it’s testing. Trying to determine a use for it, weather it is used for ship building material, new form of protective strong metal, or used for weapons. This was exciting to all, it was the first steps to new discoverers that could lead to some many breakthroughs as well.

Back at Orion..

Chief Engineer Lucas Thrope was standing next to a plot of land that was filled with construction workers and machines moving materials around to build up a factory. Men lifted up steel beams with the Exo-suits they had. This was a factory for the construction of scouting ships for the local planets and moons nearby. It was going to be a breakthrough for The Initiative having multiple colonies or bases throughout the system. It was exciting and scary to think about.

General Activity

The Colony was bustling with activity, the discovery of a new metal on the planet has the science and engineering corps excited at the prospects of what could be done with such ore. It wouldn't be long until measures were undertaken to attempt to find ways to extract the metal from the ground, to see if it has any further uses.

The Farms of the Colony would begin working quite actively to ensure that the Colony is well supplied and fed to ensure that the new society can be created. In other resource deposits that could be extracted via conventional means, mining sites would begin to be set up and supply lines would be established between the mines, farms and the City.

Activity and Research

Researchers would look into unconventional measures to extract the metal that was discovered so further research can be conducted into it (1AP)

With the Exoskeletons of Earth being retrofitted for Military and Mining Use, further research would be conducted to find ways to create more advanced models (2AP)

The Terran Federation

The modular structure of the colony ship allows for easy dismantling and rebuilding of its parts. Going about eagerly on the things, the facility manages to get finished by the end of 2109, ready to produce the first smaller transport vessels.

The drive remains a puzzle mostly, but a new discovery comes up regardless. Energy and matter tunneling on the quantum level are the workings of it. Scientists and engineers agree there is potential for it to work, but by no means do they have the resources and knowledge in the entire colony to build another or more efficient version of such a drive. One engineer remarks, it's as if you had an ancient Egyptian architect planning to build the International Space Station of 2020 back then.

The caverns prove to be extraordinarily deep and long. Tall in height too. The shimmering purple crystal formations loom everywhere around the expedition. Regular hardened steel tools fail, only when one of the expedition members proceeds to cut into one of the crystals with a diamond-edged saw, they manage to cut a good piece out of it. The blade is ruined, but the heavy square crystal is in their hands. They suggest further examination of the material.

New Sephoria

The church is finished within half a year due to communal effort and a feast is held by the people for its opening. The first house of god on another world.

Clearing the overgrowth, digging off quite a bit of dirt, they manage to find an entrance. A huge sealed gate, its access panel clearly broken and corroded from years exposure to moist soil. Cutting it open remains a viable option one of the engineers says. Or maybe using a lever to push open the gate.

For some seen as stress relief, the young men and women are able to take a breather practicing the military education they have been given back on Earth. Considering not much time has passed, they are all in great shape and should perform in a calm and proper manner.

Imperial Republic of Mankind

More factories, more mining, more pollution. Steaming, smoking, clouds of ash, CO2 and other rather unhealthy gases begin to rise over an entirely new industrial sector, it growing by the day as plenty of resources are funneled into the project. Given time, the industrial output should increase twice within the coming year.

The search for any signs of life appears to be entirely wasted, given this is an empty barren planet. Minerals and materials are found in plenty though. More valuable mining spots are being staked for future exploitation by the expeditions. Various groups amongst the populace request mining permits for those spots to begin independent drilling and mining operations.

United States Of North America

The construction of the two vessels comes along nicely and soon the small transport fleet sports another two members. This should assist substantially in the transport of materials and resources between the locations.

On the other hand the additional construction of fuel refineries on Iris were slow to begin with. It will certainly take another year to get the first refinery up and running. Nontheless, the people agree it being a priority, given the amount of fuel required continously throughout the year and the dwindling stores of it.

Aurora

Pathing a way through the lush nature will be a task to take a while, but in the meantime utilizing the recon craft to haul tools, workers and materials over is sufficient. It will take a bit, but certainly doable.

Sweeping thoroughly through the remains of the grounded vessel following assessments can be made in the first survey. This clearly is a warship, they found two locker rooms with partial storage of personnel arms, and in the lower partially torn and broken up bow of the ship a room that appears to hold a small number of warheads for torpedos or missiles. The launching mechanism is broken though, as a huge boulder has dented into the ship in the room, with various steel bars toppled over and one piercing through the control interface for it. From the inside they were able to assess multiple turrets at different sides, covering angles. Several of them utterly destroyed by what appears to be enemy fire. The body count of these long-dead beings reaches 62, a sizable crew for the ship. A medbay can not be found at all. Managing to crank open most doors with levers and crowbars one of the survey teams managed to reach the bridge. Through the partially broken windows  only hints of greenery can be seen, most being covered entirely in moss and earth. A tree has partially grown into the bridge. As one of the scientists rub off some moss from one of the console it appears he accidentally powers it up. The interface flickers weakly, showing series of unknown symbols. Red-flashing notifications clearly state of errors or damages, what they are can't be deciphered. A projector on the central console projects a holograph of the ships with various sections of it being clearly marked in red, some even blacked out, potentially because they are missing. Some impact holes are being shown on it too.

Finding another suitable spot, the crews begin to clear away foliage, digging up the ground for the required basements and foundations of the assembly hall.

Whilst nobody is an expert in inventing something entirely new from scratch, the team suggests to look into research field of warp mechanics, which was the latest pursuit of mankind in terms of inventing a drive.

Hephaestus Holdings Inc.

Rattling and noisy it is, expanding production facilities everywhere. Combined with the continous relentless exploitation it most certainly makes progress.

The events of contact with the ship take place. Hephaestus Holdings now has contact with the Confederation of Xaplonius and the Tassaran Republic. The meeting went peaceful. ((Inquiries may be directed towards Mithradites ;) ))

The Republic of Xie

A well oiled and functional machinery it is, that runs and spits out ready to use materials. Ready to tackle any demand for the time being, stockpiles are being accumulated quite readily.

The construction of this new factory starts of well, but might take another year. At least there is no shortage of manpower or resources.

The Saga Initiative

An already existing hall is being repurposed for recon vessel construction. By 2110 it should be ready to begin production.

What the engineers and miners in their effort can find out, is that this strange dark ore can not be mined by any conventional steel drills, picks or saws. A diamond edged saw manages to break away a good pile of chunks before the sawblade is ruined and needs to be replaced. This certainly needs more effort than expected.

Easy enough, with enough room around, a suitable spot is found and paved with concrete in short turn. Conveniently, that is being done near the newly assigned assembly hall, so the new ships can take off immediately.

Silver Knight Company

The first unconventional measure already proved successful. Slapping a hunk of C22 Thermo Explosive clay onto the ore and blowing it up surely did its job. Whilst the blast was incredibly mighty and caused debris and stone and ore chunks fly everywhere, it broke apart the majority of the vein, boulders and rocks of various size rich in material ready to be hauled off. The engineer with this brilliant idea was granted a couple of extra rations by his superior.

Scientists begin to work on the biggest issue at hand. Energy consumption and motor strength at the joints. It will take a year or two, but an improved model surely is in sight, they claim. It should downsize the suit, make it lighter, make it faster, stronger in so far and consume a lot less power.

Imperial Republic of Mankind

40k_imperial_aquila__transparent__by_fug

Location: Novam Domum, Industrial district.

It was clear day in the Industrial district.

Everywhere you could see smoke rising from the factories and new factories being constructed.

Furthermore there were dozens of people walking through the streets: chatting to each others, having their lunch or doing a number of other activities.

Yet surprisingly there was not a huge amount of pollution with most of the pollution going through pipes to the top of the Industrial dome to increase the output of smoke into the atmosphere.

In one of the cafes sat a group of normal looking people but those were decidedly not so.

At the table were the Emperor of the Imperial Republic Alexander Varellion and some of the biggest entrepreneurs in the colony.

Some thought that they were a bit foolish with too much ambition, but the emperor did not think so and was now speaking to them.

Of course they were all disguised in regular clothing and there were a bodyguards sitting at the surrounding tables making sure no danger would come to the emperor.

The Emperor who would be referred to as Alex during the conversation began to speak" So I heard that you were looking for exploiting some of the rich mines surrounding the colonies, right ?"

They would nod and a young man with a confident look would take the lead and speak" Yes we are the representatives of a group of people who have an interest in exploiting the mines, we see the potential in them and wish to use them to provide jobs and kickstart an economy."

The emperor then thought for a moment before reaching a conclusion and staring al the entrepreneurs in the eyes" I do see potential in your plans," the eyes of the Entrepreneurs would brighten but the clear calm voice of the emperor would then break their line of thought" Yet I first want to see how much your actions can measure up to your words."

" So here is the deal," The emperor would then nod to a bodyguard who would then pull out a map of the area and spread it out around the dining table"we have a large number of rich iron veins, for the moment you can have these mines."he would point to a 5 brown spots on the map indicating a large amount of ore.

"If you manage to successfully run the mine and make a profit then you will be allowed access to other mines and be able to expand your companies, yet if you fail and manage to run your companies to the ground and misuse the iron ore then all those mine will be taken over by the state and your business will be taken as compensation for our generosity."

The emperor would speak in a clear, cold voice properly sending the message to all of the entrepreneurs.

The young man would again take the lead of the group" I think these conditions are agreeable, do you want to sign a contract or something to close the deal."

"I think my word is a clear enough answer yet I will be able to sign a contract with you,"he would again nod to his bodyguard who would get a thick pack of paper out of his pocket with the front page leaving spots open for people to write their signatures in.

The Emperor would then motion to the men to sign the contract who would then with some hesitation but finally with a determined look would sign the paper.

"Now I wish you all good luck with your enterprises and that this was a good investment."The Emperor would say this with a warm tone in his voice, after this he would nod to the men and walk out of the cafeteria motioning his men to follow.

Location: Novam Domus, Research lab

The chief scientist, Friedrich Bauman a man of large stature and with brown would intensely study a large set of vague codes would be on the screens.

So concentrated was he that he didn't notice the emperor until he heard his voice sound through the chamber with a friendly and warm tone"So Friedrich my friend what have you found what will quote' certainly pique my interest' that required me to come here" he would say to his partner and friend from long before the colony was even founded.

Friedrich would jump up for a moment hearing the voice just behind him until he smiled and turned around to Alexander " Well your grace we have gotten a faint signal from somewhere," Friedrich would motion to the set of codes "Yet as you can see it is in a strange tongue and it seems to have some technical difficulties so we will need some resources to decode the message."

The emperor would nod and stroke his beard and after some time thinking would reach a conclusion" Amplify and decode the message, I will send some experts to help with decoding the message and we will help with the scanners being marginally improved."

"Anything else that you want to report ?"  Friedrich would answer " Yes I would be interested in studying the warp drive which brought the colony ship here, It is certainly an interesting topic but we would need some resources to start studying it properly."

"mhm...... we'll see if we can get extra resources assorted for the project, I assure you next year we will start researching it but we first have other things on our agenda."

" Wait I have an idea, I can start deconstructing the ship already to start making a shipyard for in the future whilst the Jump drive will be delivered to you when the ship has been deconstructed."

Alexander would then stand up straight and clear his throat and would look as if a few kg was placed on his shoulder " Maybe we can drink a coffee together sometime when I have managed to clear up some of my paperwork, I say some since the paperwork will never end."the last part he would say quietly and mostly to himself with a grumble of dissatisfaction.

" Well I hope that it will be soon, otherwise I need to drag you out of your office." Friedrich would say with a joking tone, then smile and nod at Alexander.

" Have a nice day." After that Friedrich would once again become fascinated with the codes on the screens and would not even hear the doors open and the emperor leave.

Date: January, 2110

Location: St. Humanity Church

Documented Event: Official Opening of the St. Humanity Church

Pope Rolando stands before the crowd, hearing their cheers. He waits for several moments, letting their joy wash over him, before he finally raises his hand, as a signal for them to be quiet.

The crowd slowly grows quieter, until the loudest sound is the excited breathing from the crowd. Pope Rolando drops his hand, and begins to speak. "Citizens of New Sephoria; We are the final remnant of Humanity as we know it. Those few arks that left besides us, did not make it here; we can only hope some survived, and managed to establish themselves as well as we have. However, when our Arks left, we left something behind; something vital. We left behind the rest of Humanity. This church has been erected in their loss.

"Humans, at their core, are good creatures. If we do not believe they have ascended to Heaven, then we ourselves may also not be worthy. This church has been named for all the humans we left behind on earth. May the Heavenly Father accept them with open arms. Amen."

ACTIONS

The clanking of machines and sound of construction echoed through the dense pine forest, James Hallsworth wiped the falling snow from his goggles as him and his entourage toured the under construction refinery. He hoped it would be finished by the end of next year, then the fuel tanks on the now docked arks could be refilled and focus could be put into other things. The placement of the fuel refinery on Iris was one of economical and strategic importance, the Keshum crystals being mined would only require an hour drive to the refinery to be made into fuel rather than a six hour spaceflight to Artemis.  Already halfway into his term James had done much good. However the critics still reigned and cursed him for the lack of trade. There just wasn't enough time to build industry and produce ships by hand. It was clear that new steps would need to be taken to improve the building capacity of the system. A shipyard was needed and it was needed soon before they really needed more ships. With the platform for creation already built it was merely the act of hauling the components needed to the already operational space station and installing them. These next steps would be necessary for expansion throughout the system and hopefully in the near future, the galaxy. Population had continued to grow but at the current rate it would need to move alot faster. The goal of the USA was that of a colonized system, immune from a large disaster such as that in Sol, it was going time but time is fortunately something the USA had lots of right now.

The small council of scientists, engineers and workers all having been elected by their peers would sit in the colonies meeting room discussing possible adjustments to the colony before August would walk in flanked by two armed soldiers who wear the best armor available along with assault rifles. Soon the meeting hall would fall quiet as August takes her seat at the circle and clears her throat “Okay people, as you should all already know we have recently discovered an alien space craft; a warship to be perhaps and I am here to get your thoughts on this matter..” August says clearly, fixing her regal outfit a bit before sitting up straight looking to the three members of the council who were permitted to give their say. First the Scientists council member would stand clearing his throat as he adjusts his lab coat holding a small clip board with some notes; his name was Fernado “Well Ms. August me and my colleagues have come to the conclusion that we should study as much as we can of the downed spacecraft...perhaps we can learn of new technology and how this races people travelled the stars..” August would nod before looking to the Engineers spokesperson. This woman would be called Cynthia and she would nod politely before speaking up “Welp, Here’s how I see it...we got a old crashed spacecraft...and I think me and my boys could-if you’d let us with some help fix this ship up to be...roughly good as new!” she says with a smile before taking her seat after sharing her view point. Soon the construction/worker’s spokes man would stand up wearing what would pass for formal wear in the colony, George would clear his throat glancing around the table and shrugging as he spoke “Well, I dont care what we do with it however just make sure this old ship doesnt go killing my boys when we go tinkering with it..” he says in a deep rumbling of a voice. After August waits for a bit she would nod “Then it is settled, we shall try to study the ships technology...see what what can learn from this thing and then afterwards the engineers are welcome to tinker with it and see if they can it into working order. George please see to it that your workers help out clearing out the foliage and trees inside the ship so we can look better at what we got” She says before standing “This meeting has come to a close” She finally says and motions for her guards to follow her out of the meeting room heading off at a brisk pace.

With the meeting adjourned, the spokesmen and women would head out to their respective sections in the colony to organize their people for the job ahead. Soon the recon ships would begin to cart the groups back and forth along with supplies as fast as possible. The dead alien space craft would begin to be studied intensely by the Scientists group while the work force would begin to carefully and slowly remove the foliage from the ship careful not to destroy or harm any of the ship's interior while another group of workers begins collecting the long dead 62 crew members and placing them in a tent to be examined by scientists. The Engineering group, while they wait their turn to begin studying the ships mechanics and technology like the scientists would assist in the creating secure paths to the crash site, the new mining area and the Ship Assembly building.

  • 1 AP is used in continuing the inspection of the downed space craft, first the scientists would begin trying to understand the technology that the ship used. After them the engineers would begin to try and figure out how the ship functioned along its weaponry while trying to power the ship, both of these would have the support of the workers who would carefully clear the foliage from in and out of the ship trying to remove any obstacles.

  • 1 AP is used in continuing the construction of the Ship Assembly hall.

  • 1 AP the scientists are permitted to resume the research of warp mechanics.

The council convenses, a huge meeting is being held between the most important scientists and members of the government, many hours were spent by the scientists talking to the government, finally convincing them of two projects they were going to need to complete in order to explore the other moons. Firstly; a centrifugal orbital space station, and secondly a highly efficient fuel. After these hours spent debating and how many resources to allocate the scientists left the new building with a grin on their faces, immediately getting to work.

The Holy Kingdom of Eadn
مملكة عدن

Eadni Year 03  - Eadn City
----

Following three years of heavy construction and careful social planning, the initial settlement of Eadn, now named Eadn City, was complete and ready for habitation. The people on board the Great Ark were unloaded carefully and each of the 60,000 were awarded a new home.  Save for the ruling house, every citizen of Eadn was awarded their own home with space to grow and move about; such was the benefit of being the first generation on an entirely uninhabited planet.

[The planet Eadn; home of the Holy Kingdom of Eadn and the descendants of Arabia]

Unique to the Kingdom though was their situation. Sexual intercourse for reproduction was forbidden, including in the ruling class. With this new start for the people of Eadn would come a new standard of human existence. All humans on the planet would now be engineered in a lab from embryo stage so as to be bred for their tasks. There would be three castes, a lower caste for grunt work, a middle-tier class (the closest to what may be considered normal human beings by 21st century Earth standards), and then an upper caste of handsome, tall, carefully bred human beings with slightly enhanced intelligence (Their minds are connected to a primitive sort of VI, allowing them access to all of the knowledge preserved by Eadn. It does not necessarily enhance their actual intelligence though, just gives them access to it). These Upper Caste humans would be bred solely for government jobs and other high-skill work (scientists, engineers, priests). Islamic doctrine was also largely manipulated and edited to fit this sort of genetic interference. Such things would take place over a course of a generation or so, with all original Earthlings remaining the same, though they do have the option to get a cybernetic implant. (1 AP)

With the completion of Eadn City, the Holy Kingdom finally has the resources available to properly explore Eadn. Dozens of massive drones are deployed in the air while various others are deployed on the land and sea. Over the course of 2 years, they hope to have properly mapped all regions of Eadn and found anything worth note (3 AP).

The Great Ark which transported the Holy Kingdom remains in orbit of the planet with discussions ensuing about what to do with it. Most believe it useless to study the jump drive that brought them there as it was damaged irreparably and it's origins were already mysterious. More discussion would need to be had about exploring the rest of their new solar system, but for now the King and his court were satisfied with their lone city on their lone planet, Eadn.

Hephaestus Holdings Inc.

Best Bargains since 2055!

fePyzFt.jpg

The advent of alien contact had different effects upon the shareholders of Hephaestus. They were confused, yes. But mostly jubilant at the prospect. Who wouldn't want alien customers, clients, or tourists? Not a soul in the company could say for absolute certain, but excitement was abound regardless. Not all people were happy at the thought of alien contact. Far up above skulked CEO Steven Penrith, who just that moment was negotiating a massive tourist-trap construction deal with agriculture mogul Milly Price. It was not going well.

"Look, Milly, love, you're the only one with any kind of tourism experience here. All I'm asking for is a bunch of casinos, some knick-knack stores, and restaurants. You can make anything else aside from that! Hell, you could even put together a petting zoo! You've got all the animals for it!"

Milly, a stout, mousy-haired woman, was being extremely difficult. Likely on purpose in order to receive a better deal. Steven didn't expect any less from her. He respected her for it--he'd have done the same.
"Considering the size of the project, the costs, the labour, the resources, I'd be as mad as a cut snake to accept it. I can't organise a project like this. And you want me to build this resort in the span of a year?! It's outright insanity, Steven!"

"Well who the hell else are we going to get?! I didn't think to bring any tourism-inclined shareholders here! Even Phil couldn't convince me, and he wouldn't have tried! We didn't have space in space for such a risky investment! You've actually run a chain of resorts before you went into farms-"

"Resorts that YOU bought out from under me!"

"Not me personally! My tourism specialist suggested it. What was his name, Phil? Jiles? Jehova?"

"James Norris, Mr Penrith."

"Oh, that turd. Yeah, he offed himself after the sun announcement. Bloody quitter. Anyway..."

"I'm not doing it, Steve."

"Alright alright. Look here--I'll give you majority shares in the resort itself. Does that sound good? I'll even give allot you an extra chunk of the profits. And you have full authority over wages, aesthetics, the lot!"

This gave Milly pause. "And I won't have it ripped out from under me?"

"Who would I even replace you with?"

A moment more of consideration and Milly began nodding her head. "Well, I suppose if you're fronting the majority of the bill and I have enough interested shareholders willing to invest... Alright. Okay. I'll do it. But I'll be running it my way, Steven."

Steven's rehearsed business-laugh chimed out jovially. "Milly, sweetheart. I knew you'd see reason. This is a fantastic opportunity for Hephaestus, and especially you."

With a smile, and a handshake, Milly left the office. Phillip and Steven celebrated with a round of whisky, and office-green golf. They had every reason to be happy. They no longer had to worry about the project falling apart, now that there was a scapegoat in place to take any blame. The conversation between the two was mostly about golf swings, but slowly slithered into the alien thing (as Steven referred to it).

"The bloody nerve of that orange-eyed weirdo, Phil."

"Sir?"

"The nerve! He comes into my office, treats me like some kind of arbiter of humanity, and, without our permission, leaves all sorts of doohickies with us "for our safety"! Even though there "are no threats" nearby." Steven lined up the next putt with a definitive scowl. "And the way he kept going on about 'breeding' was bloody grubby, too. "Oh! We can help boost your numbers with our Klingon genes! I'm a single man. Ha ha ha." ******* lecher."

Phillip Narau the Super-Accountant tossed Steven's words around in his head for a moment, before speaking quite carefully. "What's wrong with being seen as the 'arbiter of humanity,' sir?"

"Hey? I'm no damn arbiter! I'm not a politician, a diplomat, or king, or anything! I'm a businessman, Phil! My desires begin and end with the accumulation of wealth, and the growth of my company. That's it. The bloody nerve of that Kingon and Malteser coming in here and using all that political-speak. They were wasting this company's time. At least we had a chance at some free advertising..."

"Well, sir, you are technically the arbiter of humanity."

"Hey?"

"Well, we are, for all we know, the only humans left in the universe. We are the last humans, you are our leader, hence, it would be accurate to call you humanity's 'arbiter.' You are the single, guiding will behind the success or extinction of the human race."

At this statement, Steve went completely quiet, and his expression turned blank. He rested his putter on his shoulder, and walked towards his enormous office window. He stared out at the buildings being constructed--the expanse of open-cut mines, and the bio-domes that stretched into the distance. He shivered, and rested his forehead against the glass.

"Jesus, Phil. Jesus Christ. That's a lot of pressure, mate." Steven loosened his rose-red tie and wiped his forehead. "Oh God. I'm sweating. Am I... nervous? I haven't been nervous since asking Mirabelle Carrowey to the school formal in '73. I am the guiding hand of humanity?"

A moment of silence permeated the office, as Phillip clenched his jaw and looked at his shoes, unsure what to say without setting his boss off on some nervous tirade.

"Oh ****!" Steve had practically screamed the statement and Phillip practically jumped in place.

"Sir?! What is it?!"

"I told that Klingon and his mates that I didn't give a **** about who my employees boinked! Bloody hell, Phil! They're gonna come over here and try to fill our human ladies with their Klingon baby-batter!! And ah, presumably their Klingon women doing the same thing with our human men, except in reverse. We might extinct with too much cross-breeding! You know how our people are with monogamy!" Steve raced over to his desk, and tapped his 'secretary' icon.

"Inform the board! Emergency meeting, right now!"

7BpiUe7.jpg

The gathered members of the board were hastily shuttled into the boardroom at 11:30pm Earth time, much to their chagrin. Synthesised coffee and chocolate was offered around by Steven and Phillip, the latter still in the dark as to what his boss was going to say. When everyone was settled, a slightly nervous Steven spoke quickly in his usual, terse tone.

"Alright, folks. We have a problem. Population isn't growing as quick as it should be. We need to hurry up and increase our species annual growth in order to ah..." He trailed off for a moment, and scratched his head. "...cater to the large numbers of alien customers we'll be getting now." Adjusting his tie and clearing his throat, he regained the rest of his composure before the staring down the confused board-members. "We need to breed the next generation of Hephaestus employees quickly. Our shareholders need to start pairing off and doing the 'good, Catholic, horizontal tickle-dance' as soon as possible. And staying with one-another to raise them. Monogamously. How do we encourage this?"

A brief moment of sceptical looks shot first towards Steven, and then between fellow board-members, before Milly Price, the new tourism-baron, spoke up. "How about we make all newborn children automatically shareholders in Hephaestus? Give them each ten shares to sell, or keep? That'll make our employees pay attention, and give their children future say in the corporation without having to take from their parents. Plus, a discount on all Hephaestus products for upwards of ten years, with a ten percent price-drop for each child."

Numerous angry mutters and disagreements erupted from the board.

"And," spoke Phillip over the irate din, "at the same time we invest heavily in baby-related products to make up for the losses. I'm sure we could produce cheap baby-products for a micro-fraction of what they previously cost. In essence, we could come out of this proposition with a reasonable net profit. While doing the right thing for the... company."

Now, the board clearly began to consider the proposition. After all, they were chosen for the colony as individuals motivated by loyalty to the company, and their relentless pursuit of profit. Half an hour of deliberations, and the board agreed to a long, flashy advertisement campaign for the next year.

"Alright, with that settled, ladies and gents, issue two. I don't think it's good for the ah... corporate image to be totally reliant on unknown aliens for our defence. Visitors need to know that we're capable of watching over their purchases and safety. We're in space, yeah? We need space-guns."

The board, once more, looked between each other dubiously. One board-member, Barry, spoke up. "We've never been in the weapons business, Mr Penrith. We're a domestic manufacturer. We left that stuff to Lockheed, Smith & Wessen, and those other fellas up in Europe. I don't think we even have the resources to make bullets."

"Well, what do we have that we can weaponize?"

A moment of silence permeated the boardroom once more, before Phillip spoke calmly. "Well, we have those mining lasers. We've been manufacturing them wholesale for years, now."

Jason, a rotund, mining-magnate, burst out laughing. "Laser-guns? Have you been indulging in classic films, Mr Narau? I manufacture them. Those things aren't guns--the smallest ones can't be lifted by a single miner! Now, it's not an issue of strength, they can bite through rock easily enough. I'm sure it can bite through a hostile target all the same. It's an issue of power. They need lots of juice in order to function efficiently."

"Well, clearly we need smaller, more efficient energy sources."

"Excuse me?"

"I want all of you to gather up every electrical engineer, physicist, and other R&D blokes you've got out here, and plug them into efficient, portable energy research. I don't want us buying a single weapon off of anybody. We're going to do this one alone."

"But, Mr Penrith, why?! That sounds needlessly expensive."

"Why?" Steve began walking to the door, his meeting now, in his mind, over. He turned towards the board members, and stared at them, stone-faced.

"It's just good business."

People's Council of Utopie

Population; 100,000

Jatorak, a planet so alien yet homey. When the darkness enveloped them, no one knew where they'd end up. Germans were huddled together all over the ship, hoping. They had not left behind a stable place. Nor was it that way here. Many citizens were uninvolved in current politics. They were just the ones who passed the marks and seemed promising. They had been dragged along by the German military. In those early days, it was these officers who did the testing. An iron fist was needed, as the test progressed. Many politicians who had first backed the space mission were guilty of crimes. They had tried to use their power to get a place on board. The military, more idealized in mind set, refused. Only the top tier of their people could go. In fact many generals had been forced to remain behind. But things escalated, as millions of people tried to get a spot. They were inflamed by the aggrieved politicians, hoping to steal control.

And so, thousands of Germany's supposed finest loaded into the colony ship. Behind them a civil war was being waged. German troops in a tightening ring were holding off waves of rioters. Across the nation the military was cracking down. In most cases executions were on sight. Their last sight of earth was rioters overrunning the military and slaughtering them.

When orbit of their new home world had been achieved, many choices were forced. Many wanted to keep trying to travel. Others argued this planet seemed hospitable. But as they argued they all realized there was no choice in the matter. The top German military minds, the ones who made the grade, intended to keep control. With a hardened force of veterans, they had stormed into the meeting chamber. German citizens from across the board had been assembled there. In secret several republicans had sold their allegiance to the military. With their help, these open minded fellows were rounded up. Humanity could not be wasted through death, and they were made menials.

And so the new planet of Jatorak was settled. A place of massive mountain ranges, as tectonic plates are ever shifting. Rocky plains scarred with thousands of ravines and plateaus open up between the ranges. In the mountains themselves underground rivers feed a series of scattered valleys. It is in one of the bigger valleys on a confluence of two underground rivers that Utopie lies. With huge mountains on all sides, the valley the city lies in is filled with life. The city itself shoots into the sky. Following a more modern architecture, the city is composed of towers and habitat domes. The towers are for utility, levels of production, living, and commercial. The domes are all interlinked, and supported on a climate generator. This is where the farms are, for the high level crops. Normal foods and live stock are grown outside of these domes.

The majority of the population lives in Utopie, under the thumb of the People's Council. A mockery of the socialist ideals that had started this whole expedition. This instead was comprised of the military and like minded citizens. They keep control through technology and force. They control the power systems, leading to the towers and domes that are everyone's lives. To protest in a tower would mean it's shutting down.

City life was developing, people establishing themselves in towers. Eventually entire generations could dot a tower, each having it's own culture. The top floors were reserved, mainly for Council troopers. From here they surveyed the valley, and the stars. Workers dotted the domes, growing the high priority crops in contained zones. Life was rather normal, as far as it could be, and most Germans settled down. Many were angry that their lives were being so controlled. But for now nothing could be done.

A few thousand excited volunteers are rounded up. Led by council troops, they will start to head out to known valleys near by. They will establish frontier post. From there they can expand into resource gathering. (2 ap)

Using their ship in orbit, detailed scans and probe droids are used. The priority is to map out the resources in the planet. (1 ap)

Council Troopers undergo training. They are to be utilized in shock troop tactics. Mainly with high power guns, carapace armor, and jump packs. An officer cadre is put together, to make this the start of an elite entity. (1 ap)

The Saga Initiative

“God it even wore down the diamond-edged saw? Grab that little piece of the mineral and let's start testing it. We need to figure out what an break it. Obviously we now have found a material stronger than diamond which is amazing in it's own right.” Doctor Needler was amazed that barely anything worked against this material. She tried everything, Lasers, steel and even diamond edge tools barely worked.

Aubrey looked at the material and was amazed by its composition. It was harder than any material on Earth and this was so exciting to her. The applications that could be used for this was absolutely ridiculous. New picks, new drill tips, new armor plating for troops and vehicles. They just needed a way to get more of it. Aubrey and Ben both agreed how this was the Initiatives new priority.

Back in Orion, the static radio heard is new. It isn't from anyone on the initiative either. Engineers scramble to boost the signal but it is to no avail. It is only static and louder static. Thorpe attempts to clarify the static by adjusting the frequency and then adding a signal booster to it. Then they would attempt adjust it until they got an understandable broadcast, and then they would try and communicate with them.

With the factory ready to produce the scouts ships and the launch pad ready, production begins immediately on one scout ship. Ben believed they needed to find what else was out in their system before expanding their reach.
