Ho Chi Minh's face greeted TV stations all over the nation, with the inavding aliens and finishing the construction of the space station it was the needed dose of propaganda to keep morale higher than ever. People could begin boarding the space station, a lottery was held and a lot of scientists and military men seemed to win. A public order would of course need to be created so many police, judges, lawyers, doctors etc.. were taken to the station. Transport being immediately with shuttles travelling back and forth. The military was also restored.

Imperial Republic of Mankind

40k_imperial_aquila__transparent__by_fug

Location: Novam Domum, Industrial district

The Emperor Alexander Varellion was walking over the gravel roads spanning over the Industrial zone.

He was disguised as a middle-class factory worker but was secretly observing how the progress was going on: the shipyard, the factories and the railway.

The emperor then walked through the iron doors of a random factory and walked into the noisy hall at which he could see a large amount of people working at the assembly lines and other parts of the factory watching machines spit out machine parts and other tools.

He walked around careful not to stumble over something or bump against someone whilst observing the situation in the factory and more specifically the process at the forge.

As he had been informed some time earlier that the manpower reserves were starting to deplete and that the process of smelting could be more automated with some changes.

To try and make sure that those reports were true he went to observe the process of the factories and the working conditions of them.

He could see that the factories were mostly clean and organized with the exception of the smelting and machine rooms with everyone working orderly and doing good work.

Yet as aforementioned the conditions in the machine and smelting rooms were a bit worse since the large heat both generated particularly at the smelting room.

As he walked past the assembly lines and the people carrying materials to different sections of the factories he interviewed some of them about if they were satisfied with the work that they did.

Most of them did like their work and were happy with making progress yet especially at the smelting room it was more demoralized and chaotic as the heat agitated the workers and made lives hard for them.

This made the decision of the emperor more clear as he thought about automating the smelting process and his opinion was finally cemented into stone as he observed the smelting room of the local tool factory.

It seemed that a large part of the process that could be done by machines were largely done by humans and was exceptionally manpower consuming and if he managed to automate the process more and involve less humans that meant that the process might get less faults since humans inevitably make mistakes.

After some time observing the factory he walked out of it and was happy to breath in relatively fresh air as he left the factory with lower oxygen levels then on the streets.

After leaving the factory the emperor went to the entrance of one of the Industrial domes and put on his environmental suit to make sure he could breathe and work outside of the domes.

He then took a small track of 5 minutes to another part of the distract that already had some basic infrastructure staring to go to it but it was mostly empty, the shipyard.

He looked at the large empty concrete building and instinctively calculated and thought of ways to make it better and make it ready to start producing space ships.

This shipyard was really important to him since it would need to start producing his space fleet to guard the planet of Novam Domum and to explore the universe.

After the signal that had been briefly heard the emperor had ordered the science team not to talk about it until a further date when more information was gathered but hearing the news the emperor had thought of several plans on how to prepare the Imperial Republic for the aliens that he would almost surely eventually meet.

Formost of his plans was to know where and what the aliens were to make sure that he was prepared to do what was needed according to each alien race.

Silently thinking  to himself the emperor admitted that he was rather xenophobic and did not really trust aliens.

Who knew what the goals of aliens were and what their emotions were and what he disliked the most about aliens that he did not know them.

He feared few things but his biggest fear was ignorance and he knew he was ignorant about alien societies.

Adding to this was his idea that aliens had entirely different goals then humans and  would eventually try to destroy them and he believed that all aliens should be controlled so they would not prove a threat to humanity.

Although even if they would meet alien societies he would do what he thought to be best thing for his people and humanity and not let his own personal beliefs affect what was best for humanity.

He thought all of those things as he approached and entered the compound that was the shipyard.

For now it seemed the framework and foundations of the shipyard were established but it had not been furnished at all and  some parts of the construction still needed to be finished.

He then went on to think about how to further construct the shipyard until he came upon the coming election in 2 years.

The emperor was nervous for this since even if he in reality didn't want to be the leader of mankind and the colony he didn't think there was anyone else who could carry the burden and responsibility as good as him.

He thought that if he wanted to win the coming election he needed to give the people a larger standard of life and start to get people to have more children to repopulate the human race.

He knew that he was rather popular in the colony and the people were happy with a purpose but he was nervous about :how the people really thought about him if he could improve the living conditions and most of all if he could rebuild the human race against.

He then went with his hands through his hair and then went into think stance for a few minutes until breathing out and going with his hands through his hair.

It seemed that personal issues could not be fixed simply by logical thinking and that he would need some personal guidance from his friends.

Alexander's face brightened up at the thought of his friends most of all his secretary Lily.

Lily was his trusted secretary and without her he would have been buried under all the work he had years ago.

Yet most of all she was a friend who he could rely on when he was at his worst and would always try to help him and give her best possible advice to help him.

Every time he saw her he could feel a tingling in his chest and blood flowing through his cheeks yet he kept himself under control and denied the feelings he had for her.

His mind and heart both said to him that he was in love with her but his determination said that it was not so and that he had other things to worry about.

Alexander then sighed again, in frustration this time, as he realized that thinking logically did make the situation more complex and frustrating.

He then walked: back to the capital dome, to the capital building and to his bedroom and then lay back in bed slowly drifting of as he thought about all issues he had and all issues to come before he closed his eyes and quickly went to the land of the sleeping.

“Life finds a way.” fictional character Dr. Eon Malcolm.

The two Caterpillar Class Freighters break and enter the atmosphere of Terra often as they are the main transportation for raw materials and metals. The Colony now has what it needs to sustain itself for the time being.

The Federation Council met in a regular session to determine the next set of operations for the colony.

Vira looks over to the others “So we are in complete agreement?”

“No.” Uri states “We are NOT in complete agreement, we need more military.” he argues as Vira sighs “We’ve been over this Uri the Grgl and Tassareans are not a threat, if anything we are more secure, by no means are we not planning on working towards better security and military operations. But Lalone’s department is in desperate need of a proper facility and equipment to continue research for the colony..”

Uri sighs “Fine..I’ll fold, but next I expect an expansion in military operations.” Vira nods “Good then, we can get right to work on devoting resources to Science Facilities, Wilhelm offered up an Idea for the future..what was it?” she asks

Councillor Wilhelm stood up “Me along with Councillor Lalone have been working on basic concepts for a new vessel, it's nothing concrete yet but it would allow Science Operations offworld. A small devoted science vessel.” he offers, the group seems approving, other than the salty russian at the table “We will deal with this later, but for now we shall devote all colony resources to this.”

People's Council of Utopie

And so the referendum had been passed, and the programs were ended. The German people wanted their people to remain pure, and made of free will. Though it was a volunteer program, the people are returned back to their normal jobs. Some are actually discontented, having wished for a pass into the city. But life will continue on, or so everyone hopes. The new Shock Troop core is shaping up very well. They are becoming quite adept at traversing the mountains and valleys. With the jump packs tactics are fierce and highly mobile.

Panic spreads through the colony as news of the Battleship spreads. However the Shock Troops are not mobilized. They are told to not bother. That ship could kill them all anyway. The council had no bargaining chips, they were defenseless. And so the colony ship hovering in space is sent orders. First they are to send a broadcast to the recon vessels moving in. The intent is to state Utopie means no harm, and wishes to know the intent of these ships. After the transmission is sent, the ship is ordered to the other side of the planet. They would try to shelter it from any aggression.

Thankfully the Council had now for a while been moving it's population. A good percentage of the citizens are spread across the mountains. Though Utopie is still the center, several towns and outpost branched out. And they are always growing, as more people leave Utopie. In the main city life remains normal. There's not much the Council can think to do. So matters at hand are focused on. The battleship would have to wait.

With the horrible explosion, many people feared the crystals now. It would seem that research would need to continue in it. A smaller team of scientist is selected. They will take more samples, and set up an outpost far away from other humans. From there they will take what knowledge they already have. Expanding upon it, they hope to find a way to use it.

The Holy Kingdom of Eadn
مملكة عدن
Population: 66,000

Eadni Year 06 - The Planet Eadn
----

Now that the great factories were up and running, the full production machine of the Holy Kingdom would be put into effect. Critical materials for construction and industry were produced in these factories at an astounding rate and the energy required to run these plants was entirely powered by the Eadni sun and wind; or as the Court of Eadn enjoyed saying operated by Allah. With the employment of the simpletons, quality of life in these plants was fairly awful, but the trade off was incredible efficiency as employees could be replaced rather simply.

With the new surplus in construction goods and hardware, the Holy Kingdom of Eadn (with the alien they detected in the back of their mind) decided to quietly put into place a plan to develop a 'space superiority' fighter using ballistic technologies as weapons platforms. It would be powered by a fusion reactor and would deploy from the surface of Eadn straight into space. This would take a few years to carry out.

[3 AP] The secret development of a space superiority fighter

With the announcement of the establishment of a second settlement, the Holy Kingdom of Eadn has begun an initiative to produce 30,000 new members of society over the next two years at a rate of 15,000 per  year. This would consist of about 10,000 grunts for services, 12,000 middle class
'regs,' and 8,000 upper class citizens. This would form the population of Aljadid Dubai.

The Saga Initiative

Dr. Needler scrolled through the after action report of the drones finding crude oil sources in the desert continent, she slide up on her touch pad and it transferred to a bigger screen in the meeting room. “As you see here there are crude oil points throughout the northern continent. This continent could be a key destination for our next city and outpost. It provides us with a place to drill for oil and have a place to establish energy farms. Renewable energy resources are what are going to keep this planet for as long as possible. We need to become self-sustaining before we can go expanding into the great beyond.” Aubrey would take a deep breath, exhaling as she stepped to the side as Ben stood up clapping as did the other council members in the room.

Ben went to pat Aubrey on the back and shake her hand as he went to take over the room, Ben was now 26. He looked way more mature, he looked aged though making sure 116,000 people stay alive was taxing on the young kid. He knew this council wouldn’t be together much longer as Aubrey was entering her late fifties and Lucas was entering his fifties. Their replacements would have to be chosen soon.. But for now that couldn’t worry Ben, “Lucas, I need you to gather your best engineers. One’s that fit into this job description. Colin I need you to gather about 1,000 men for a protection detail. Make sure they are equipped with protective gear both of you. As it is hot up there. We will be sending transports full of supplies back and forth daily. I need one of you to supervise this endeavor for the next year or so until I can find a suitable regional governor. So if either of you want to volunteer, it would save me the trouble of picking.” He would glance between the two, meeting their gaze with each glance. As Colin would stand up, “I’ll do it sir. As I believe I would be the best for it. No offense Lucas, I believe Ben could best use you here.” Colin would nod to Ben and then turn to Lucas extending his hand for a handshake. Lucas would take his hand nodding back to him.

Ben would nod, “Alright the matter is settled, get your teams together. The transports ship out in two days time. Should give you both plenty of time. Meeting dismissed. Remember men this is vital to our future.” He would nod to everyone in the room, as they got up and headed out.

Later in the Afternoon, Colin would pull Ben aside. “Sir, I have the men that are with me. I just wanted to make sure you understood my concerns on how I believe we should focus on a military some. As I know you are concerned with visitors that may be hostile it will be vital for us to be able to react properly.” Ben would nod to him, “I promise, after this current thing is finished we will focus heavily on military. If you have ideas let me know now so I can get Aubrey and Lucas working on them.” he stepped back nodding to Colin, “Yes sir. First we need to focus on infantry as our backbone. I know we have the Frigate factory up. But this will help us achieve a lot more. Advanced HUD, better protection hearing of that new materials resilience, new weaponry, and possibly exosuits down the road.”

Hephaestus Holdings Incorporated

Winner of the 2078 Industry's Award!

With the laser rifle in its prototype stages, the board and Mr Penrith exclaim avid excitement over the continuing development of the 'space guns.' Mr Penrith, however, exclaimed some confusion over the inclusion of what appeared to be the application for some scientist. The CEO of Hephaestus was not the one to handle individual hires to departments he knew very little about. But since this individual had input into the space-gun's development he put in his own recommendation. Whoever owned the mining and engineering subsidiaries would make the choice later on. But since the CEO expressed interest, he might find his way in (He gets hired).

Now that the prototypes were developed and patented, testing would begin in order to optimise performance. (-1AP)

The increased mining operations spread across the richest deposits Hades had to offer. The landscape (thankfully far away enough for the employees not to see) was being torn through with such abandon that the miners had to start replacing their tools on a weekly basis. This was an acceptable loss, however, considering the minerals that were being drawn from the ground. Mining was good work, indeed. None knew this more than Jason Woolard, the leading man in mining development, and now one of the wealthiest board-members in Hephaestus Holdings. Today he was giving a tour to another very prominent board member, the heavily tattooed super-accountant Phillip Narau, around the latest expansion.
"We have about two-hundred more positions that need filling. And boy howdy, are they filling fast! I'm getting people from just about every industry now, Mr Narau. Everyone wants a piece of my growing pie--especially me!" Jason smacked his rotund belly for emphasis, and let out a hacking laugh. Through the environmental suit, it sounded like a duck violently quacking.
"Indeed, Jason. And please, call me Phillip. We are, after all, working toward the same goal. There is no need for formalities." The two walked past a group of engineers putting together a ten-foot laser-drill. One of many that were aimed at the rich mineral deposits below.
"I am here, Jason, to inform you that we still require further mining expansions. Mr Penrith's plan will necessitate considerable resources in order to succeed. He has sent me personally to observe the current output."
Jason gestured around himself, and let out another, now gurgling, laugh. "Good god, Phillip. Bring it on! I could burn through half the planet at this rate! With those fancy laser-guns you got me to finance, I've had my eggheads up the juice on my mining equipment. They cut through iron like butter." His face fell a little, barely visible through the visor of his environmental suit. "God, I miss butter..."
"Funny that you should mention employment, Jason. That is in part what I came to speak to you of."
The mining magnate narrowed his eyes at the accountant. He couldn't read the face of Phillip through his suit, not that he could even without it. Phillip was always a cold fellow. He couldn't imagine him losing a game of poker, let along betraying his thoughts through expression. "I thought Steve sent you."
"He did." Phillip remarked coolly, "but I suggested it. Mr Penrith always listens to my suggestions. Just as I always carry out his more far-fetched orders. Because he only ever leads us upwards. In our case, quite literally."
Jason could feel Phillips icy stare through the glass and the suit. He shivered, but not noticeably. "And what does employing people have to do with anything?"
"Some of the other board members have expressed some concerns. Concerns that I agree with. I would like to know if, you too, agree. May we speak privately?"
The two lumbered off to the local office complex, leaving the miners alone to tear up the earth once more.

(-3AP The rabid mining expansion continues under Steve's 5 Year Plan. Ensuring that there will be many happy days of for miners to come.)

New Sephoria

More buildings are being erected, housing complexes get their foundations laid out. Naturally it will continue to take time, but it grows.

With this year's effort invested into designing machines which automate the progress first, they expect to be ready to produce the first robots at this rate in two years.

On the other hand, based upon the existing first prototype and its functional principles they continue to design a variant with enhanced motor capabilities, strengthened structure and bulkier and sturdier appearance as a whole. Though the scientists comment that the robot has significantly slowed down, it can still fulfill a certain guardian duty by protecting civilians utilizing its body and raw strength. The first prototype shows certain promise as it lifts steel crates of equal size and weight with some effort, being able to push or three times its personal weight across a flat smooth surface.

Aurora

A clanging noise becomes the new trademark of the first set of half-automatic railgun rifles. Showing incredible stopping power, penetrating all known armor with ease, the weapon shows promise. It has a few trade offs. The rifle requires high amounts of energy to power the magnetic accelerators, and the rifles are fragile and expensive to produce. It might not necessarily become the standard issue weapon for the common soldier, but given its punching power and range, recon units or snipers could use them.

The engineers focus on their efforts and appear to do a great job at that. Soon enough, a quarter of the station is finished. Give us two years, proclaims one of the engineers.

Whilst the notion is understandable, it is rather that the currency of the colony is being assimilated by the two nation's currencies who field a much stronger and deeper economy themselves. That being a given of course, as there are 132 billion Grgl and 78 billion Tassareans. Trade itself though, flows nicely, and both nations offer generous exchange courses for the currency of Aurora.

United States Of Arcturus

And thus the work on the first child begins. That is what some people state, seeing the exploration vessel as the first descendant of the great Ark which brought them there in the first place. That being a given, there is excitement and eagerness in the ear, effort goes in, workers have high hopes. Twenty-four hours a day in four shifts, all the days through the week, the colonists labor and work, forcing their sheer will unto the project, to finish it as soon as possible, as perfect as possible. By the end of the year, it is done. The ship is built, now all that is missing is a crew and a destination. And supplies. And an initiative. And such things. You know.

And so they begin to drill new shafts into the surface, drilling deep and greedily for what may be found. Ores and minerals aplenty.

Considering the current festive spirit of the people and the good luck which appears to be present, there is barely anything necessary to... remind the people. It just happens to happen.

The People’s Republic of Xie

It is strange, but as if it was a necessity, people are being moved up step by step into the space station without further ado or resistance. Relocating someone does not affect them as much as it is right now, given the colonists background.

The probe, which turns out to be a simple beacon, given its constant and regular signal, proves to be hard to crack. When they manage to do so, the insides reveal nothing very notable except for the technical system which emits the signal, something they are well capable to build, and a strong power source in form of a peculiar battery. A bar on the side appears to show its charge. Still full, despite fully blasting this signal for this prolonged time already.

Whilst there is no "speed" technology to be found at the edge of the "galaxy", no weapon systems or anything still intact of the sort, the remaining hull fragments show a bit of promise. The chunks of metal appear incredibly resistant and the drones can barely take any samples without breaking their drills.

Imperial Republic of Mankind

The construction is well underway and soon two new domes are added to the barren but slowly foggy region where the colony is located. The plants appear to be growing well, and given the automated harvesting methods from Earth, should feed a good more people, allowing for higher rations.

Walls and ceiling, installations and utilities and it's done. The shipyard is finished, ready to consume materials and spit out ships, so to say.

With automating the smelting process workers are freed up, bringing relief to sections in mining and other facilities which have urgent need of more workers, given the rapid expansion as per the Emperor's wishes. As a whole, this should result in a more stable raw materials output, with the automated smelters doing the preparation work for further refinement.

The Terran Federation

Given that all focus and resources of this year are poured into the project, soon enough the facility is done. It's a big one at that, there were no incidents, except for one lost arm, when a crate with concrete containers toppled over, crushing the poor man's arm. The workers suggest to name the facility Emmerson's Arm, after the arm of him.

People's Council of Utopie

It's becoming quite repetitive, training day in and day out. The growth in talent and skill seems to have flattened out, no remarkable improvements visible. Newcomers still learn, but the Elites and Veterans, they don't.

An engineer brings some interesting news. When experimenting on one of the shards, he hooked it up to a transformator in order to push power into it, disregarding it's volatile nature. Instead, before he could turn the apparatus, it showed that it was already powered. Reverse powered so to say. Strangely enough as it was, the energy was rather high, so it might be just an anomaly.

And thus they drilled and mined. Whilst mining quite readily what is known in terms of ores and minerals, the workers appear to avoid getting near to any of the crystals, ever since that one explosion caused a lot of damage.

At this rate, the expansion of the outposts will take forever. One outpost at a time perhaps, but then the leaders of the outpost argue who should receive the resources first. This should require a solution.

The recon vessels have reached the colony, the battleship turning, heading for the colony as well. (This encounter is still open.)

The Holy Kingdom of Eadn

Whilst there are already current known models for fighters which are well capable of entering orbit and traversing the globe with ease (none built so far), longer distances might require improvements in terms of fuel capacity and fuel efficency. The scientists utilize their given resources and do exactly that. With a set goal of having a fighter with a fusion drive that is capable of traversing the solar system within one day, and having enough fuel to do that five times in a row, whilst not losing any combat abilities... well that takes a while. But that's the offer.

Whilst it might have been an eager promise by the biologists at the start, the final result is devastating. They were able to barely make a quarter of the goal. They weren't allocated enough resources to manage the task.

The Saga Initiative

As promised, the engineers manage to finish the platforms by the end of the year. The crude railguns pointing up, it is nontheless an impressive display.

Whilst the engineers muse that it's like pulling out an old bike you haven't ridden for a century, they do as told. By the book, the long history of mankind has shown they have mastered the art of building oil extractors and solar farms. And so they are complete by the end of the year, considering the amount of resources that were put into it.

Hephaestus Holdings Incorporated

Ready and functional. Easy to assemble, cheap to produce. Whilst it eats through current power cells in about twenty shots, the rifle offers average range and average penetration and heat emission on the point of contact. Stopping power obviously is nil, as it shoots focused light and not solid ballistic bullets. The part system he has developed, allows for pistols and scatterlasers to be assembled as well, using the same parts. The Tassarean appears to be quite satisfied, as if he had just won the first prize in a school contest.

There is more ore than a miner can mine. They are drowning. In ore. And metals. Whole swathes of barren land are left barren... wasteland. Well, huh, makes little of a difference, just that the litter from orbit and the scars on the surface look very unappealing. So far, it had no impact on tourism and immigration at least.

Silver Knight Company

The proposed model is finished and stands ready to be duplicated. A tall lumbering metal giant with two launching systems for missiles. An autoloader allows to replenish the launchers. Naturally at one point they will be out and require replacement. With the remainder of the resources they proceed to construct four more, bringing them up to five of these tall boxes of metal.

One the other side of the planet, nothing appears to have changed, the foreign beings still remain unresponsive within and around their base, ships in orbit coming and leaving once in a while, then and when a dropship flying up or down. Nothing particular shows any preparation of the sort or anything.

Date: August, 2114

Location: New Sephoria Science Labs

Documented Event: Test Run of Robotic Prototype; Prototype Designation: Warden 1

The robot stood inactive in the testing chamber, several crates of varying weight in front of it. Maria and Luciano stand within the observation chamber, waiting for the tests to begin.

A voice comes on over the intercom into the observation chamber. "We're ready to begin the test's with your say ma'am."

Maria speaks into the intercom. "Very well. Begin testing now."

A voice comes on over the intercom in both the observation room, and the test room. "Warden 1, activate."

The robot in the testing room comes online. "Warden 1, active. What are my orders?"

The voice comes on. "For starts, begin lifting the crate in front of you."

Warden 1 steps forward, and lifts a metal crate about the size of trash can, easily. It is then given orders to continue lifting crates until it reaches a crate it is no longer able to lift, similar in weight to itself.

Warden 1 begins a new series of tests, testing it's ability to push the same crates. This time, it manages to push a crate weighing roughly three times it's own weight.

With testing finished, Warden 1 is deactivated, and moved back into the labs, for further study and advancement.

Maria turns to General Luciano. "Well General? Is that adequate."

The general stares off into the distance for a moment, before replying. "Yes, it is, for now at least. Once the factory has been finished, please have them produce a small number of them, for field testing."

Maria nods, and the General and her go their separate ways.

The Terran Federation

3.08.2113, Sol’s Rebirth System, Planet Terra

dcc6577db28e32421bae41ae2d7134d7.png

“To an engineer, good enough means perfect. With an artist, there’s no such thing as perfect.” - Alexander Calder

With the construction of the newly devoted science facility the Federation’s Science Division now can put full effort into its projects.

Emmerson sits in the medical bay, in his bed he has bandages covering his shoulder where his missing arm would be. His wife and daughter at his side.

“I’ll try to find a desk job dear, it’ll be ok. I can still work for our rations.” he puts on a stoic expression for his wife and daughter.

Vira and Dr. Lalone enter the room, Emmerson looks to the newcomers in surprise “H-...Head Councillor..” he sits up slightly in his bed, Vira holds out a hand “Rest, you need it. I’m just the head of state not your ruler.” she smiles kindly “I am terribly sorry for what happened to you Emmerson, so I and Dr. Lalone..would like to talk to you about possibly in the future getting you back on your feet to work in construction again. Re-education into another field isn’t always easy.”

Emmerson seems intrigued but confused by the statement as he looks to his wife and daughter then back to Vira “What do you mean Head Councillor?..” he asks as she sits next to his bed “If you agree to take part in this effort..Dr. Lalone wishes to take this opportunity to study cybernetic replacement for your lost arm.”

Lalone steps forward “A true replacement for your arm Mr. Emmerson, not a stiff metal prosthetic, a working arm. If you agree..we will provide rations to you and your family as if you were working. Would you agree to this?” he asks

Emmerson is brought to tears, as is his Wife and daughter “I...I don’t know what to say..”

Vira gently places a hand on his bed “Nothing..you don’t need to worry, with your help we can get to work on the Emmerson Project. Hopefully you and others like you in the future will never have to worry about such life changing injuries ever again.”

More frequent meetings would be held due to the introduction of two alien races now interacting with the colony, most of them solving financial disputes and issues and none really of any importance. However come around, the colony would be relatively stable and August along with her chief engineer Cynthia would both agree it was time to expand out into their new world and scout it out more along with delving deeper into its crust.

Soon mining efforts are renewed, until now they would have just been to get the resources they needed to meet ends but now in an effort to see if there are any irregularities in the planet they now call home mining efforts would be renewed. Recon ships are also sent out after making sure the roads that have so far been properly established and set up with proper outposts to survey the planet they lived on, planning on giving them enough supplies to make the trip around the large planet. Fernando's crew would be asked to put aside their tests for the time being and congratulate them on their success with the railgun weaponry, these brand new railguns would be given to August’s guard force and the small groups of soldiers who would brave the woods as they patrol the surrounding forests.

~Ap points~

  • 1 AP put into continuing mining efforts, organizing it to try and limit the destruction of the environment as only a sector of the land is designated for it

  • 2 AP continuing the construction of the spaceport, using the recon ships and all ships available for flight to try and fly supplies up and down to the construction.

  • 1 AP is used commencing the fully-dedicated surveying mission of Aurora, the multiple recon ships would be used(ignoring the ones carting stuff up to the space station) to scout the planet out fully as last time their attention was drawn to the crashed ship.

Hephaestus Holdings Incorporated
Where the savings are passed on to YOU!

hnISVGJ.jpg

Anyone walking near the office of Hephaestus CEO Steven Penrith would note the sound of sharp, electric crackles accompanied by innocent, childlike laughter. Phillip Narau--super-accountant--was standing in the waiting room with the agriculture and tourism mogul Milly Price, and mining magnate Jason Woolard. Phillip had suggested giving Mr Penrith a little more time before going to speak to him on business, as clearly he was not going to be in the mood for their conversation just yet. After waiting ten more minutes, the sounds finally subsided, and the trio entered the office.

Steven was sitting in his large, leather chair carefully replacing an energy cell in his newly acquired laser-pistol. He was humming to himself contentedly, and nodded to the entering board-members with a smile.
"You lot grabbed yourselves a laser-gun, yet?" He inclined his head towards a small box on the opposite side of the room, clearly containing a number of the newly tested laser-armaments.

zRHU8jk.jpg

"Cheap-as-chips, easy to use, low recoil, and they don't need bullets. What's not to love, hey? I'm going to push getting our security boys armed with them before the year's out! Bloody Star Wars, these things!" He punctuated his comment by firing another shot into a well-worn metal target in the corner of his office. It was riddled with still-glowing melted divots and holes from his previous hours of fun.

"Perhaps a little later, Sir," Phillip gently stated. "We're here to speak to you on the company's hiring policies."
Steven nodded slowly, as he licked his finger and rubbed a scorch-mark off the barrel of his pistol. "Do you want to drop wages again? Bad PR, Phil. Didn't do it back then, won't do it now."
"It's more about us hiring the aliens, Mr Penrith," interjected Milly. "The growth of non-human employees are troubling us."
"Yeah yeah. The aliens taking human jobs, and such." Jason was clearly more interested in the box of laser weapons, and was pulling out what seemed to be a shotgun variant.
"Hey? What are you buggers jibbering about?"
"Sir," Phillip gently spoke. "There is a worry that the arrival and interbreeding with the Tassarean species fundamentally lowers the growth of human child-birth." Noting Steven's blank stare, he changed strategies. "Our human production is lower than our current competitors. We wish to invest in bridging the gap." Steven's expression hardened, and he leaned back in his chair steepling his fingers.
"Hell, Phil. We're already working on my five-year-plan, mate. Can't this wait?"
"In all due respect Mr Penrith," Milly jutted in again, "investing earlier would be wiser. Besides, projections tell us that we can match our production/mining output sooner than expected."
Steven sighed angrily, and picked up his pistol again. "Alright alright, fine. I suppose we can do the whole 'human children are important' thing again. For one year. I'm not wasting more time than that."

"It will be easy, sir. We still have all the material from the previous campaign. They were good incentives. They just need to be pushed a little harder."

There was a louder, electrical snap as Jason sent a scatter-laser shot into Steve's target.
"These things are great! Can I have one?"
"Of course you can!" Steven gestured at Phillip and Milly. "We can all have one! C'mon guys! Lets blast this target to smithereens like we're stormtroopers!" With unsure glances, Phillip and Milly obliged, if only out of curiosity.
And nothing productive was done for the rest of the day.

A major multi-media advertising campaign begins, concentrating on increasing human breeding--possibly the heaviest campaign ever performed by the Company. Each advert stresses the importance of the human family, the traditions of the Earth-born Corporation, and the homes left behind. They play on the emotions of the human listener (and perhaps even the alien ones, if they are sympathetic), how it's their duty to aid in the replenishment of their race and, though there are other humans beyond Hades, they're not enough to be passive about it. They express the grandeur of the human species, their spirit, and their bravery. They connect it to the importance of humans to the Company. They describe everything so succinctly that it could instill guilt in the audience for any lack of action. The same incentives from the last attempt are offered, but framed in a superior way. These adverts are masterfully crafted by the top Hephaestus marketeers--it's clear the campaign was designed have long-lasting effects on human reproduction. (-4AP)

United States Of Arcturus

Arcturus system

2114

______________________________________

It stood proud, paint gleaming in the fluorescent hanger light of the shipyard the crowd gathering in the .2g hanger floor. Many officials and government ministers inspected the ship which had taken much resources to build with a keen eye. The ship, incredibly large barely fit inside the shipyard yet it maintained a stance of grace. A true achievement of the people. President James Hallsworth successfully having won his second term with a 78% majority took to the podium. “Senators, engineers, doctors, foreman Mann, ladies and gentlemen. It's a true honor, I must say to be standing here amidst our most humble achievement. One that truly can only he described as felt when the engineers at Cape Canaveral rolled out the Saturn 5 rocket from the vehicle assembly building for the first time. The large acrylic painted letters USA along the rocket are still present and our achievement. Much the same, just as three brave men embarked on a journey to the moon over a century ago, slipping the surly bonds of our mother Earth, uknown of their fate but with a single goal embedded in their minds. The advancement of the human race. Nearly a century later we stand on the same precipice. Brave explorers must once more, put their lives on the line for the good of humanity. We can not rely on help from elsewhere we are, alone in our struggle. We must prevail in our journey to continue our long arduous climb from the swamp to the stars. We don't know what's out there. But we intend to find out. For the first ship of the US Navy, I christen thee. The USS Intrepid, may God bless this ship and all who serve on her.”

A resounding smash echoed through the hanger and clapping ensued as the champagne bottle smashed against the hull of the ship. The clear horn sounded as the band began to play

Slowly and steadily the large ship began to roll out of hangers low gravity through the plasma airlock sliding into space. The sun caught the bright paint of the ship as it moved out of the station and came under its own power, the red Markings of The United States Of Arcturus gleaming in the sun. People pointed and began to cheer on the station as the ship floated up and above the main concourse moving to its new docking bay. A feat of engineering, pride of the Arcturan people.

It had been near a month since the launch of Intrepid, constant tests and drills kept the crew busy. They had yet to receive a mission and eagerly waited, all they could do was out around the moon system of Rhea practicing launching and landing of the shuttles. Testing systems and generally getting used to the ship. That was until they received the signal. Since the WOW signal mankind had yet to encounter any form of alien communication...but this, small three second burst of garbled transmission changed everything. Originating somewhere outside the solar system it was time to investigate.

Captain Hoffman sat strapped into his chair as he stared out the window looking at the various gangways and umbilicals connected to the ship. As he prepared to relieve himself of duty and pass watch to the XO a familiar alarm sounded at one of the terminals. A midshipmen quietly studied his console before unbuckling and walking over to the captain paper in hand “Captain priority communique from Vantage.” Hoffman studied it quietly before nodding and passing the paper back. He sat back down in his chair rubbing his eyes. “Boatswain!” the captain called looking behind him “Aye captain?” The man responded. “Call all crew to station, prepare to embark in 30.” The boatswain nodded and replied

“Aye aye captain.” he picked up the 1MC keying the mic “All hands, all hands. Prep to duty station prepare to embark, 30 minutes.” The announcement beamed over the ship as the captain handed a small note with coordinates to the navigator. They were soon on their way.

Ho Chi Minh smiles, his plan finally beginning to come into action. Slowly but surely as everyone got up to the space station and order was settled the designs for a new ship were underway. A competition is held between the best technichians and scientists, with those who can come up with a good design for a scouting, a carrier and a fighter ship gaining prestige among the republic.

A few weeks later as the results come in the scientists start researching this new ship, ordering the drones to bring back the hardened pieces of metal, hoping they can turn them into suitable armor for the ship. The aliens are ignored, with only scientists and Ho Chi Minh himself remembering their existence.

Aboard the space station scientific labs are built for research and all research should be conducted their from now on.
