Activity

The Mood in the Boardroom was one of much anger, coming from Edward towards the board of directors and the chief of security, the NAP had been in Edwards eyes violated by foreign and likely statist spies attempting to steal what they could not create by themselves. Furious that someone would violate the capitalist utopia's philosophy that had allowed it to go so far both in the field of economics but also in technological fields. This insult would be answered and nothing would be left to chance now. An propaganda information campaign went underway, discouraging Corporate Sabotage or infiltration

4SsHjqdObqAPsJXBPzXYUnp6y_6Z7VKez8iQpgIzjBTARiCr257-NWjsloAjT7V8lfKXeE8WmORhcc3emhXRAMKAqz6V1TcxvVvfdbhcK37QtDBM1HCJMAeFg4CFQGVONSeFDWFs

Outside of the sensitive corporate matters there would be somewhat of a celebration, the collective populations of all SK Holdings and Planets would finally exceed three hundred thousand humans, being rather populated. Allowing for humanity to definitely have a chance to survive merely in the confines of the Corporate holdings if all other candles of humanity were extinguished from the Galaxy. This was certainly good news, the population was growing at a rate where potential losses in the upcoming contracted campaign would be negligible.

On the news of the upcoming campaign, the Fleet itself would be following that of the Solarin Federation in the Corrupter Campaign, being contracted to fight the Corrupters but no one else. PR was sure to say that if the Federation decided to alter its course or attempt to attack another target that is not a Corrupter the Silver Fleet would come home with its contract obligated.

Action Points

A Campaign to catch anyone participating in Corporate Subterfuge (Spying) or Sabotage would be underway and overseen by the Head of Security. The goal would be to catch any Spies alive if possible, eliminate any information flowing out of the Company to its competitors or worse yet Statists. Measures such as increased security in general, background checks on anyone who was not a British National and checking the accounts of each member of staff to find irregularities, monitoring transmissions of scientists, engineers and other members of staff would be employed. (2AP Mod Pls)

The Less Secretive in concept Project Gawain would continue with its research to continue to find ways to build a miniaturized Xylorite Reactor continuing from its current progress (2AP)

The Shipyards above Armathwaite would begin work on a Light Cruiser with all the technology available to the Silver Knight Corporations disposal. (5AP)

The Silver Fleet would trail the Solarin Federations Fleet in its contract to combat the Corrupter Dominion. It would have its own Fleet Commander (0AP)

The ground forces would be dropped off on the Tassarea. 150 Strike Suit Fighters with Special Forces Operators, 250 Mech Suits with regular Mech Suit Operators. It would have its own Ground Force Command (0AP)

VICTORY ON THE KALRONIAN FRONT

Images of a small space battle would be played across the screens around the U.C.I showing the Ganvian-Human fleet destroying the Kalronians in combat. Shortly after the U.C.I. fleet would return from their first combat mission, the crews and marines obviously changed by their experience. The masses would cheerfully greet the troops whom seemed relieved to be home yet many looked onto the crowd with blank stares. The more jovial soldiers would tell tales of the battle reciting the size of the Ganvian fleet and the firepower of their ships.

Casualties from the battle were an entire fleet of Kalronian ships ranging from three light cruisers, five destroyers, and four frigates. The Ganvians lost a light cruiser and a heavy cruiser to overwhelming fire and ramming and both a U.C.F. and U.C.I. frigate were disabled but still salvageable.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Research department took the supplies and captured weapons frantically beginning research looking to reverse engineer the Kalronian technology. The science behind it mystifies the smartest of the scientist as they pick apart the equipment obviously drawing up plans and blueprints to begin reverse engineering the equipment.

The brass congratulates the soldiers that were on the tour asking for details and accounts archiving the Kalronians ships encountered and discussing tactics used that were successful. Seeing that the Ganvius took losses and need more help the UCI sends a message to the UCF requesting they rejoin them and head back to assist the Ganvius once again in their war.

Asgard Republic

2135

Leader - Chancellor Skadi Nielssen

Population - 218,500 Humans

---------

2134 was a momentous year for the people of Asgard. Not only did they reconnect with their Human brethren but also made contact with a living alien civilization. Although jubilant at no longer being alone in the universe, this joy was soon replaced by unease - war was rampant in the southern galaxy, and star charts and dossiers procured from diplomacy with the Trialiation and USA showed that they were in the immediate vicinity of two expansionist alien empires.

Meetings of the Civil Council, the upper house of the Republic (twinned with the Assembly) and the Chancellor and her cabinet were animated - to put it mildly:

"Not only did the Chancellor purposefully take it upon her administration ALONE to compose the messages of contact with these outside powers, but she did so in the knowledge that Asgard's ENTIRE future rested on the outcomes of these negotiations!" So spoke Councillor Thor Persson, a usually staunch ally of the current Chancellor (particularly for her and her father's development grants toward urbanisation in the equator). "Councillors, no-one doubts that the administration did its best in an unprecedented situation. The Hermes program was intended to make contact with our brethren on Alpha Centauri, and instead we find ourselves a small fish in a massive pond surrounded by sharks - sharks both Human and alien! It is by no means xenophobic to say, given the information coming out of the wider galaxy, that surely a more conservative and cautious approach toward our relations with foreign powers would have been the safer course of action. Instead, Chancellor Nielssen has announced that diplomatic efforts have been engaged with the powers of the galaxy! Likely including the very powers that the Security Council has designated as clear and present dangers - the Kalronians and the Karass - not only to our sovereignty but to our very lives. The Kalronians are described in the outside news excerpts we have obtained as, to put it mildly 'fanatically genocidal butchers'. The Karass are an imperialist kingdom whose core territories are in open revolt due to their enslavement of alien species. These are not powers that one tangles with lightly, let alone provides with detailed instructions on where you live." Persson rounded on the Chancellor. The concern was clear in his eyes. This wasn't a political ploy - Thor was genuinely afraid. "Chancellor Nielssen. As a friend to you and your father for all our time on this planet, I beg of you to explain these actions."

Skadi Nielssen, a tall, slim woman in her early 40s, ascends the Chancellor's dais. "Councillor I thank you, sincerely for your concerns. Seven years ago, when the Hermes probes were launched to the edge of our solar system, we had no idea what awaited us in the void. We expected to make contact with our fellow man, but instead have found ourselves in a vibrant and dangerous galaxy. We are, as you said, a small fish in a pond of sharks. But isolationism is not the answer. By keeping ourselves cut off we only delay the inevitable. I will not allow Asgard to become a hermit kingdom, secure in its bubble but soon conquered by covetous neighbours. There is a saying - the surest way to destroy an enemy is to make them your friend. I don't know if that will be entirely possible with all we will meet amongst the stars. Therefore, our policy will be the following - talk softly but carry a big stick. Right now, we are an isolated, easy target. We will gain allies, and we will not look for enemies if we can help it. But there is another saying - if you wish for peace, prepare for war. That is what this administration is doing. In the coming days, we intend to rebuild our security forces and territorial militias into an organised defensive force. Furthermore, military and industrial investment will increase. We will not go looking for enemies. The powers you mentioned, Councillor, the Kalronians and Karass, will not be contacted. If they seek diplomacy, we will answer - but we will not make hostile neighbours aware of us sooner than we are ready for them."

ACTIONS - AP Pool: 4

1AP - Due to the apparently endemic warfare in the southern galaxy and the presence of two expansionist powers in their immediate vicinity, the Asgarder military undergoes a massive reform and overhaul. The ersatz militia and security forces are supplanted by the Armed Forces of Asgard, an organised military force incompassing ground and atmospheric air warfare. The initial recruitment target is set at 10,000 active duty personnel and 30,000 more trained as reserves in the event of an alien invasion or total war.

1AP - State investment in industry, particularly space mining, heavy industry and ship construction is increased dramatically. In order to catch up, economically and militarily, with their galactic neighbours, the Asgarders would need a solid industrial base to do so.

1AP - Research priorities are shifted toward the exploitation of the dense black mineral found on several bodies throughout their system. Early attempts at mining it with traditional lasers has proven futile, so experiments begin on how to actually get the damn stuff out of the ground.

1AP - Adapting their cold-weather flier design with relative ease for use in the vaccuum of space, the Asgarders begin construction of 100 strikecraft. They will be used militarily and to assist with and police in-system civilian and commercial activity.

0AP - The colony ship ARN Valkyrie II is refitted and dispatched to the volcanically active moon of Muspel, a rocky Io sized moon of the red gas giant Jotunn. There it drops biodome architecture for an industrial colony to mine Muspel's abundant deposits of the dense black mineral - assuming they can ever figure out how to do so. If not, the planetoid's deposits of more conventional minerals will make the endeavour worthwhile. ((MOD ACTION: PLEASE DECIDE HOW MANY COLONISTS MUSPEL GETS TO START WITH.))

0AP - Following first contact with the Trialition and United States of Arcturus in quick succession, diplomatic overtures are made to all remaining powers WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE KALRONIANS, KARASS AND CORRUPTORS. Messages of kinship and fraternity are conveyed to the Human nations as well as the potential for trade and cultural contact.

0AP - Asgard applies for membership in the GTC.

With the tides of war beginning to envelop all sides of the southern galaxy, the Holy Kingdom chooses to continue its programs of weapons development and promises incredibly lucrative government contracts to those who can develop high-end weapons capable of devastating ships of any class, anywhere.  Extensive research is done on these mass drivers with the hopes of providing Eadni ships with a vastly superior weapons capability to those of other human colonies. Kinetic weapons systems from other races are also extensively researched.

The wars in all sectors of the galaxy are carefully studied as well, with communications ships keeping up with reports from the frontline of each conflict.

[1 AP] Research continues on a new weapons system capable of delivering ordinance at incredibly high velocities. This particular round of research consists of dozens of complex surveys on kinetic weapons systems utilized by races throughout the southern galaxy. What can be collected through basic civilian research is done so that way, while some more covert elements (especially involving information warfare and cyber capabilities of the Holy Kingdom) try to extract information they might otherwise not have access to.

No Job too Big, or too Small!

The journey to the great and powerful Ka'cezh Empire was long, and harrowing. Great wonders were viewed the crew of the Grgl Gondola and the accompanying diplomats from the Free Human Technocracy--vast complexes of capitalism. Snail-like creatures that slithered upon the ground, Dyson spheres and the beauteous homeworld of the vast, elder empire. And so they received their audience with the Star-Lord of this great and unfathomably powerful nation. They gave their presentation of logical, factual arguments to the all-powerful being. The best they could manage, and they themselves considered it more than convincing.

Except the Star-Lord did not respond well to their arguments. Despite the clear, oncoming doom targeting both South and (eventually) the North, the lethargic, languid Star-Lord simply denied aid, stating only that the Corruptors were endless, and it was the problem solely for the south.

Clearly, the Hephaestus Board came to the truest rational conclusion that the Star-Lord was wimpy little *****-- a wimpy little ***** with one too many Corruptor-booboos inflicted on him. Though the Board agreed that the undisputed ruler of the most powerful nation in the galaxy was a total *****, they also agreed that this was an obvious flaw with autocracies in general. They made a note to themselves that if the next great battle was lost to the Corruptors, a built-for-purpose transmitter would be set up, beaming a constant stream of casualty statistics. At the end of the statistics would be a number of juvenile insults directed at the Ka'cezh and its impotent leader.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

8LnPwZw.jpg

Deep in the ever-changing maze of factories and businesses, a second grey obelisk stood perpendicular to the towering bulk of the Hephaestus Corporate Administration Centre. It was not a building anyone paid too much attention to, but all employees knew what it was, and why it was there--Enforcement Headquarters. This compound was where the Hephaestus Enforcers were trained, and coordinated. Today, new recruits were being ushered into the main training hall, far away from the hustle and bustle of the business outside. It was almost silent within the structure—for most Hades-dwellers, it was something they rarely experienced.

At the far end of the hall, a human stood on a stage with a group of different aliens standing to attention behind her. She observed the recruits pile into the room like a great wave. The greenhorns were always eager to grab a rifle and start ‘Enforcing.’ Many shareholders and employees thought it was easy work and a good place to start in the security industry. Sometimes they were burned-out wage-jockeys looking for a break from The Race. After all, the Enforcers took anyone, and turned them into multi-purpose tools. A little-known fact is that once a person joined the Enforcers, they were very unlikely to leave.

High Commander Sophia Briarwood stood on the stage, and waited for the recruits to calm themselves. She was a tall woman with jet-black hair, and piercing, green eyes. Her features were grizzled and pock-marked with wounds from both kinetic weapons and laser-bursts. Variations of her oncoming speech were given to new recruits since the old days of Earth, when Hephaestus had only just purchased their first troubled country. She hadn’t been born yet, of course, but tradition stated speeches like this were given almost from the formation of Hephaestus Continental Security. Each time it felt like leaving another etch on Corporate history.

“Welcome,” she began, beaming a smile, “to the Enforcers.”

Skulking around the stage, she took a moment to choose the next part of her speech. Many of the lower commanders took turns proselytising to the recruits, but she insisted on doing it herself now and again. She felt it reminded her of what she worked for, and kept her grounded.

“The Enforcers are a proud tradition, and a profession that can take you into many different fields. An excellent mark to put on one’s CV, and good PR to boot! You have made a fine choice.” Commander Sophia glanced to the back of the hall, while fully-inducted Enforcers slowly shut the doors with an audible creak, and a closing ‘bang.’ The sound was intentional—the mood needed to be set. Predictably, the recruits looked back to the door, and between each other in confusion.

“However, working here is not really the same thing as being employed in a bank, or factory. We do things differently. But that is due to our history.”

“When the old Government of Australia was purchased, so was its military. Naturally, it was absorbed into the budding Security forces, but a soldier is a construct of a nation. They are founded on patriotism and pride, and throwing them into an organisation that could be best described as highly-armed rent-a-cops, well...”

She shrugged with a smile. “... let’s just say there was a crisis of faith amongst the troops. What they needed was a new vision. A new philosophy to fight for and protect.”

“What is Hephaestus, ladies and gentlemen? It is a business wherein a group of individuals purchase the labour of others, for the purpose of making profit for themselves. It is self-serving individualism by nature, and the greatest force for prosperity ever imagined. So long as there is scarcity of resources in the universe, private enterprise will always be the best way to distribute it.

But Hephaestus isn’t a business, my friends. It hasn’t been a business since the old countries were purchased. It still acts as if it is, but it is a country—no, a nation--that has accidentally made itself the greatest haven of prosperity and liberty in the entirety of the galaxy.”

Sophia smiled at the confused looks from the myriad of recruits. There were of many different races present, though the humans looked the most puzzled. They always were.

“In one of those good fortunes that sometimes touch us sentients, free-market economics ultimately supports individual liberty. In Hephaestus, you can rise to the very heights of success and power if you have the will and ability to do so. Not through demagoguery, not through force, but through pure merit.

The Enforcers are the screws that hold this nation together. We are ignored because we want to be. We are irrelevant in Corporate decisions because we do not need to be involved. We keep order so that prosperity may be achieved by any who wish to make Hephaestus their home. We are guardians of our people’s liberty. We are the quiet, impartial arbitrators that ensure that all may rise to their manifest destiny. We take pride in our service to ultimate freedom.

But before you too take part in this, you will need to be properly inducted. That can take some time.”

A loud ‘clack’ sounds from the door as the Enforcers manually lock it. There was much work to be done before they could become true Enforcers, and for that, they needed privacy.

2AP from sectors.
1AP from industry.
1AP from population.

-The marketeers on Aphrodite declare the time has come for a massive push into tourism. With the galaxy at war, no doubt many aliens would be seeking time away from the fear and drama of their foolish governments. A huge construction project begins on an ultra-resort--affordable for all comers, with greater luxuries available for higher prices. Truly, a Hephaestus staple. (-9AP)

-The Hephaestus engineers were tasked in making a cost-efficient missile-system for the future corporate fleet. Designed specifically for overwhelming point-defences and shields, the missiles would be smaller, but launched in huge numbers. (-3AP)

-After receiving the colony ship from the Han Dominion, it is thoroughly checked by Hephaestus agents before being loaded with colonists towards... somewhere. Somewhere to the south-west of Hades. Wherever looks pleasant to settle, really. Or if there are decent resources present. Honestly, the people on the vessel just wanted to forget about the war and concentrate on simpler things. (-0AP)

-The stasis-tech corruptor "cure" from the Protorians is shared with the Grgl and Tassarans. Many medicinal subsidiaries groan and gnash their teeth at the loss of potential profits. (-0AP)

-"Project: Lemon" is concluded. For now.

The Free Human Technocracy

“What do you mean he denied you?”

“Well Dad, that he means he said no and turned us away.” a few of the council members in the room could be heard chuckling at Johnny Walker’s sassy reply.

Ben shook his head, “No dumbass, why did he turn you away. Did you present any and all evidence that we had presented to him?” an irritated look overcame Ben’s facial expressions, obviously annoyed with his son’s comments.

“Yes.. But hey showed us all the times he’s fought them and his wounds from fighting them.. However he said the Protorians and Kalorians, and Gavinus should help deal with them and he refused to listen that they were at war… He told us all was lost and they were a constant and endless wave.” J.W. sighed “He was not very fond of us either it seemed..” he’d look at his father, “I tried my best for you dad. But the last Elder race would not have it..” he hung his head and headed for the door..

Ben grabbed J.W. and gave him a hug before he walked out of the door.. “I am proud of you son. We are not doomed yet. We will make it through this together.” he rubbed his head and sent him out of the door. “Now. Let us fortify our positions on this. The technology gained from the Holy Kingdom, is going to allow us to produce soldiers without the cost of our own civilians. We will no longer require them to sign up after the first batch of Vanis regulars is completed.. Furthermore, we will be enlisting our Da’nor and Human-Da’nor citizens who are psionically gifted. This are invaluable as operatives and commanders in battle. Any questions or concerns?” he’d wait a few minutes, “None? Alright good let us get started then.”

Laandaalir Triat had changed. No longer was one massive biodome all that was visible from space: rather, secondary structures surrounded it, an outward-stretching web of residences and defense complexes. Where once only an occasional shuttle landed, now dozens arrived and left from the outer docks. It was at one of these that Shi Yimu’s shuttle slowly came to a halt, preparing to couple with an available airlock.

Yimu gazed with mixed feelings at the expanded base, as the shuttle passed over the ruined hulk of an IRM destroyer. Certainly it was better than doing nothing with the place. But the majority of the inhabitants were no longer even Jinyiwei. Secrecy was no longer fully possible. But, he supposed, it never had been since the battle.

The shuttle came to a halt at its assigned airlock, and Major Shi stepped out, into a cavernous loading bay, its walls jet black and its floor pristine. The opposite wall was nearly completely occupied by a great symbol of silver inlay.

“Welcome back, Major Shi,” came a greeting from the center of the room. There were several Han there, each wearing a smaller version of the symbol around their neck. The speaker also wore a Jinyiwei uniform, and saluted when the others bowed. Lieutenant Zeng Xue: thirty-one years old, and still possessed of boundless curiosity and purpose, which weren’t exactly hindered by his psychic abilities.

“Lieutenant,” Yimu returned the fisted salute and briefly exchanged pleasantries with the group before moving beyond, deeper into the complex. Lieutenant Zeng followed. “This base has improved greatly since my last visit,” he commented as the psychic caught up with him. Hallways now branched off in every direction, and more Han wearing the symbol around their neck could be seen crossing them the closer he walked to the central dome.

“Of course, Major,” replied Xue. “Home to three thousand souls, now.”

“I’m surprised that many wanted to live here, to be honest.”

“Truly, sir?” The halls and chambers that the two passed through began to widen. “They seek truth. Truth, and their destinies. Those cannot be found on Yuguo. Perhaps they will not be found here either. But it is the rational place to start.”

Yimu suppressed a scoff, though he was sure the psychic could read his feelings on the rationality of this cult all too well.

“You deny it?” The lieutenant looked to his superior, who said nothing. Ahead was a large door under light guard: an entrance to the great crater. As they approached, it swung open, and Yimu could not help but smile.

No longer was the crater surrounding Laandaalir Triat a barren dust bowl. From the sweeping heights of its lips, artificial waterfalls cascaded down past lush greenery. The water ran down the circular cliffs, between vast stone pillars carved out of them to resemble the mountains of southern China, and collected into rivers. It flowed gently into the less-steep center of the crater, through what appeared to be a fast-growing forest, interspersed with gardens built in the classical Chinese style.

The Major could only stand there, gazing on the transformation. The occasional pollinating insect flew by. The songs of birds were audible from the crater floor. And far, far towards the center, the colossal structure of Laandaalir Triat itself was the crowning jewel of the garden. All this, under the light of stars twinkling through the great dome above.

“It was hardly fitting that such a place be surrounded by the most lowly of settings. Now, the archive can be appreciated for what it is.” Xue stood beside the major, admiring the garden with just as much satisfaction. “Sir...it is not through random chance that we stand here today. A purpose awaits us. It was the Old One who plucked our doomed souls from Earth, and it was He that sent us here, where Chaal might uplift us. These people seek only to learn what that purpose is. They are no different than Jie, so far away now.”

“Captain Huang is representing the interests of the Dominion in the central galaxy. Nothing more.”

“Why, then, has young Hanying been chosen to accompany him?” Lieutenant Zeng followed after Yimu as he started down the path into the garden. “She was hardly needed for official business. Jie and Hanying are on a holy mission, Major Shi. When they return, they will bring with them the knowledge we need to fulfill the Han’s great purpose.”

“How can these people hope to fulfill a purpose,” asked Yimu, “if they do not know what it is?”

“That is what we must discover, sir. But it is out there, and we will find it...by any means necessary.”

Yimu sighed, and decided to drop the conversation. It would be a waste of a garden to speak of such useless things within it.

----------

While the Jinywei agents Huang Jie and Dai Hanying perform great acts of heroism in the north, the Han within their own borders hear nothing of any of it. Rather, they are driven about their business as usual. More public attention in state media is given to the population boom: the population of the Dominion has grown in the last year by more than double the usual amount. The spike is hailed as proof of Han superiority compared to their decadent human counterparts: perhaps if they had the strength and discipline to bar their women from non child rearing duties, they too could experience such prosperity.

Though the public remains enthusiastic and unaware of galactic threats, the upper levels of government remain concerned about the Keerim menace. Most of the major authorities are glad to hear of a great victory at Tassarea delivered by their agents, but there are several powerful dissenters who contend that it would actually have been beneficial for the Corrupters to overrun the area, as they would no doubt have engaged the Keerim next and removed two threats at once. Both sides at least agree that the avians are currently the largest threat to the might of the Dominion, and they continue to devise solutions.

It comes to the attention of the Xin Xi’an police force that illegal street races have been increasing in popularity, some even involving fusion powered automobiles. A crackdown begins, but it is a halfhearted one at best. As long as the hooligans stay out of the city itself, they can expect not to be disciplined by the authorities.

Envoys from the GTFO arrive in Huizhou to be warmly greeted by the mercantile local government. The military in whose name the merchants govern, however, is less welcoming. The envoys often find themselves harassed by Han soldiers during their stay, but eventually a decision reaches the city from deeper within the Dominion: the Daos have decided to accept the terms of the agreement and allow their citizens to travel to the GTC to trade. An army colonel by the name of Quan Shi is dispatched to the official signing.

Additionally, a team of scientists is dispatched to the GTFO, for unknown reasons.

----------

The colony ship built last year is sent to Hephaestus Enterprises, in exchange for an extortionate amount of itoron.

----------

At around the same time the GTFO envoys arrive in the city, the riot that the Silver Knight Company had been warned about finally comes. Having been warned by the Luen however, they quickly contact Free Human Technocracy authorities and set up a sting operation at the itoron warehouse, the true target. As promised, a group of Wo Hop To thugs show up and attempt to forcibly break in. The sting goes precisely as planned: the triad finds itself surrounded and outgunned before it even knows what’s happening. Still, they resist, and by daylight only a dozen are still alive to be behind bars, out of nearly three times that number.

Handling the riot itself, however, is another matter. It appears the Luen had their own ulterior motives for telling the company about this plot, and they are able to attack their rivals immediately after they have paid civilians to build the riot’s fervor. The Luen quickly takes control of the mob, as much as such a thing is possible, and is able to steer them away from the Wairen in the middle of the city to instead terrorize the Wo Hop To itself, which has been extorting the citizens of Huizhou for months. Simultaneous attacks occur on Wo Hop To operations all throughout the deep hive of the city, though little information of it reaches the SK Company’s ears.

Altogether, it is a bad night for what had been the strongest triad of Huizhou. The street war quickly explodes over the following days as the Luen presses its advantage, but the most intense conflict takes place in the dense outer city. It should be fairly easy for the mercenaries to return peace to the interstellar district.

The Sovereign Military Order of Malta

170px-Coat_of_arms_of_the_Sovereign_Mili

"I will fulfill my vows to the LORD in the presence of all his people." Psalm 116:18

commandcenter.jpg

On the bridge of the O.M.N. Gran Italia, surrounded by the great screens giving view of Maltese space, John of Pisa was elected by conclave 86th Grand Master of the Order of Malta. His de facto leadership had lasted the past half a decade - his succession was little more than a formality. The Order had taken that time preparing for a war, transforming itself from the once-charity to a nation more like the knights they descended from.

The House of Malta could be seen from the Dreadnought, the city-sized superstructure dominating the planet's landscape.  On another screen, the networks of trade and activity continued around Maltense under the watchful gaze of Maltese knights. The two worlds were prosperous, beautiful. They were also between the Keerim and the rest of the southern galaxy.

Now he stood with his three closest First Knights, and he searched desperately for a solution. The concept came while searching through technology ideas from the late 1900's.

"All of our manpower. All of our researchers, our engineers, our scientists and excess energy. Research Molecular Disruption. For the sake of our future, please give me something."

The Molecular Disruption Device, called the MD Device in short, utilizes the idea of two destabilizing energy pulse beams being used to disrupt the sharing of electrons between different atoms, destroying chemical bonds and therefore whatever those atoms compose. This energy then expands, overtaking a small vicinity but growing weaker as it expands. If it hits more molecules, though, it expands further, disrupting those, creating more energy, and once again starting another dispersal process. In theory, it could expand indefinitely if calculations are done incorrectly. Once it is used, any molecules other than pure use of elements would be reduced to basic elements. It is based further off of Maltese research into the quantum field being unable to put something where molecules exist and warp mechanics in which a type of field is transmitted around the vehicle. To power such a device, the use of previous energy research facilities to test the feasibility of the project are used.

{Theoretical Cycle: Beams Collide - Field Created - Field hits Molecule - Molecule Dispersed - Field Expands from energy of dispersed molecule - Molecules continue to disperse - Field expands as long as more molecules exist to disperse}

The 8th Crusade

And so it begins. Convinced by Chaal the Saryn of Laandaalir Triat and after a long slumber without pain after one-hundred fifty years, the Lord of Stars of the Ka'cezh Star Empire has called for the 8th crusade. The final crusade to be against the menace that has threatened all life in the galaxy for centuries. The Corrupters.

Calling it his last war, he leads the vast majority of the Ka'cezh Star fleet in the South against the Corrupter Dominion, whilst the allied fleets of the Ymorians, Cevelli, Krib, Cynn, Alduu'uranean, Adaptaar, H'wong and Zyrka will strike from the North, using the great barrier they built all these years ago to keep the Corrupters at bay as their staging point.

The 8th crusade is the biggest military operation to ever be seen, the whole Northern galaxy at war against a single foe, whom they have to destroy utterly and completely to finally bring peace to the people of the milky way, and to ensure that future generations would never have to deal with them again. It will be bloody, and it will not be won in one year, but it will take significant strides, as they had the time to prepare.

And finally, the Confederation of Xaplonius and the Tassaran Republic can rest for a while. Although their assistance will be needed in the future, as the Ka'cezh welcome any help.

United States Of Arcturus

The "new" schematics for the surface batteries prove useful and complement the PSDI with some proper heavy armament. Although it has to be noted that only a few batteries have been built, given the unusual design specifications and the parts to be made.

And the anchor enters orbit, charging and ready to send ships around. Whilst transit might be almost instant, the jump itself takes time to charge.

The construction of the frigates goes as planned, joining the remainder of the US fleet. These smaller vessels should aid the bigger ones well.

The drone itself reaches the Carina galaxy as planned and begins sending sensor data and other images. Around the entry point it has not discovered anything of note yet, the star systems in normal arrangements as in the milky way.

United Canadian Front

The combat armor appears to be standardized for the Kalronian infantry and guard forces. It's reliable Itoron S-50 plating gives it some weight, but also protects the wearer properly. Along with it comes a special composite alloy underneath the Itoron plates, the purpose being additional shielding against hazardous enviroments. That goes along with the jump suits the Kalronian soldiers all wear, sealing it airtight. The combat armor has gas tanks with oxygen installed and some integrated circulation system to regulate temperature even in cold regions. Given that a Kalronian is about the height and build of a human, they can freely equip them. The interfacing system and software of the suit proves to be a challenge, whilst the Kalronian language is identified with the assistance of the Ganvius Nation, it's not easy to learn, so a new software should potentially be installed. Reproducing the suit is a bit of a challenge, but given some effort they can surely prototype on of their own.

Xylorite-fusing proves to be... remarkably fatal, as the Xylorite violently rips apart any device that tries to fuse it into a material for a shell. As an explosive charge, Xylorite might be useful though, perhaps pursuing that would be wise. Devices that emit electric pulses are inefficient, not functional or just too expensive to be put on shells.

It's a slow onset, but a good two-thousand of the new Itoron-Aluminium combat suit are made by the end of the year.

Building a Xylorite refinery is a huge task and requires professional engineering. Given with the technology the process is being sped up, but still, the refinery has to be built and requires more resources. It will take another four years at the current rate to finish one capable of producing sufficient refined Xylorite.

The Galactic Trade Federation of Orimon

With the additional resources invested into the colony, it picks off quite readily, giving a good foundation for a potential boom to come in the coming years.

Again, whilst all the shifting and repurposing of the station and its parts is taking place, the Zyrka continue to invest into the Galactic Trade Federation, bringing wealth and goods along with them. They must have something in mind. (2 bonus AP)

Picking up previous research from Earth and including the new discoveries, they begin to elaborate on various subjects at a time regarding genetic research and biological makeup of species. No remarkable results this year though.

With the onset of the 8th crusade, all Northern nations except for the Ar'gakari and the Zaxx do join the GTC, but only formally for now.

Imperial Republic of Mankind

It is a madman's duty, the engineers and workers say, as they continue to build more defences, bunkers, tunnel network, infrastructure, logistics and so forth. If this goes on, it might become the most fortified world in the Southern Galaxy. Rows after rows of batteries line the surface now, giving plenty of coverage where needed.

The fighters and bombers on the other hand are finished as planned.

People's Agrarian Republic

Another colony ship is built, granting more people to chance to settle on new worlds, finding new homes, explore the unknown or just get some distance from uncomfortable relatives.

The secret project remains secret.

Whilst they make no particular progress in the length of the projected forceblade, they do manage to strengthen and stabilize the forcefield itself. Along with that are some minor improvements to the balance of the knifes and the fuelcell integrated into the hilt of the knife.

The Solarin Federation

The four ships join the Solarin navy, after the heavy losses sustained in the battles for Tassarea. Nontheless, a welcome addition.

The Thulean Republic

And so the ship sets down with a clunk, unfolding its hangar bays, with the new inhabitants flooding out onto their new homeworld. It takes a while, but soon they have established a new core settlement on this new world, claimed for the Thulean Republic.

It is by accident, but it turns out to work. Trizendrium rounds. A combat engineer has a brother in the research team for the Trizendrium and got wind of the project running. After discussing, followed by research and experimentation, they develope a first functional Trizendrium round that uses a small stable Trizendrium cell. It appears to have some good effects against solid objects.

Foundations for a few factories are being laid down this year. More investments are necessary to give out any results.

Silver Knight Corporation

The additional surveillance might prove beneficial. ((Skype))

And they finish the Light Cruiser by the end of the year, another mighty ship to join the fleet.

United Colonial Initiative

All three ships are finished as tasked, prepared to engage into further battles against the Kalronians, whenever the Ganvius have a military operation going.

The Ganvius command will contact the UCI and UCF accordingly.

Asgard Republic

Given the little population of the colony, this would mean that basically all men are to be soldiers. Whilst they are capable of bringing the strength up to 10,000 right now in the way as intended, more training requires more resources and probably a far higher population.

And the first foundation is laid for the upcoming industrial complexes to be. (Remember to count this.)

They do manage to break out big chunks of ore by using D7X2 explosive clay from old days on Earth, although it's not the best way to go about mining it.

And one hundred traditional strike craft from old Earth days are finished, ready to defend their new home as needed.

((Colony ship - Skype, need to figure this out.))

The diplomatic hails are acknowledged by every nation, except for the Keerim.

THE HOLY KINGDOM OF EADN

Whilst the ships are finished as projected, the high velocity cannon gets its first proper prototype. It is in field-testing, and looks promising, although for a real stepup above the current systems, they still have to work on it. As for the study of other concepts, the scientists can fathom a few potentially good ideas, but nontheless nothing particular to compare it to has been found yet.

The production of the fighters supposedly goes as planned, but then somehow they find that all used materials are still in storage, despite... being used. Surveillance recordings show that a man in a white suit walked through the storage facilities at one point. No traces were found of him on the colony regardless of all attempts. (1 AP bonus)

Hephaestus Enterprises

And who would have thought that the biggest number of visitors are... soldiers. Ka'cezh soldiers taking their days off and breaks on Aphrodite. From the simple crewman of a destroyer to the captain of battleships. With the onset of the 8th crusade, a never before seen flow of warships and transport ships, goods, soldiers and wealth passes through Hephaestus. Xylorite is traded into the Ka'cezh Star Fleets like it was candy. Itoron is being picked up in thousands of tons by massive factory ships of the Ka'cezh, to produce shells, ammunition, armor plates, conduct repairs, and so forth. But of course, that is less relevant to a holiday... planet. (+4 AP for coming turns, Port of 8th Crusade modifier, +2 AP to all direct trading partners)

Downsizing and multiplying is quickly done and by the end of the year, they present a swarmer missile launcher, that fires handy little things with the length of an upper arm of a human, carrying a regular explosive payload. The amount of fired projectiles though is five times higher than a regular launcher of the same size.

The planet they find and decide to settle is an alpine world, with an average, but warm climate, rugged mountains and cliffs stretching over the majority of the landmasses, cold seas, but also very little fauna and flora. In terms of fauna though, there is a strange very cuddly... bunny animal. Huh.

The Free Human Technocracy

Only a few dozen are being recruited, almost all of them being Da'nor, except for a few hybrids. No humans have shown any... psionic abilities.

The shipyard of the Holy Kingdom of Eadn is finished as planned this year. (20/20 AP. SL5 now.)

It will take more effort to finish the complex facility and get it up and running, according to the engineers and architects. A few more years at the current rate, this is no easy task.

Whilst such amnemities are welcome, mostly Da'nor begin to peruse them, as there are no reported humans to have manifested any psionic abilities.

The Han Dominion

And a new model of jumppack enters the prototype phase. It is dangerous to use without proper training though as the users might break bones and suffer other injuries on botched landings or flying against objects. But it gives the infantry agility and speed they could need if they focus more on hit and run combat, attack and maneuver or just plain guerilla warfare.

The Sovereign Military Order of Malta

The colony ship is finished as planned. Another homestead to be built for the people of Malta.

At first, they need to understand the concept of disruptor energy and the weaponizing of it. The research is intense, but the scientists can not bring up any prototypes or solutions just yet, as they are still working on the math behind it. This will take a very long time, so they say. A lot of experiments, failures and costs.

Events

Despite the onset of the 8th crusade, war still rages within the Southern galaxy.

The Keerim Imperium suffers several losses at the hands of the Protorians, manages though to win a string of battles against the Trialition forces.

Just as the year ends, the Grand Alliance officially joins the Trialition, which is aptly renamed into the Lithruan Coalition, named after the planet Lithruan Beta, the Ceri world where the treaty has been signed.

The Rebels continue with their momentum, beating the Karass on several battlefields. Nontheless, the remaining Karass fleet returns from Corrupter space with the arrival of the Ka'cezh late this year, and could bring a turnaround.

The Redon Imperium wins a string of battles against the Backhatta, but then loses one decisive battle for the control of an important sector against a combined Backhatta-Protorian fleet.

In the far West, the war continues to destroy lives, as Kalronian and Ganvius ships clash in devastating battles. According to Ganvius reports, about two-thousand vessels of all sizes have been destroyed on both sides.

Chaal's gift remains.

The government of Aurora currently petitions for unity with another human nation, seeking strength in that.

The Sovereign Military Order of Malta

170px-Coat_of_arms_of_the_Sovereign_Mili

"For I know the plans I have for you," declared the LORD, "plans to prosper and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Psalm 27:4

The Auroran Technocracy is reached out to by Malta, its offer rather long and mostly about military and bonuses.

"We will share in our utopia, and you will be able to and encouraged to continue your pursuit of technology and the sciences."

It is explained further that while it is further away, Malta can halve the distance instantly between the two and build an outpost in the middle so as to have near-instant travel between Auroran worlds and Rhodius. Moreover, Malta has possibly the strongest independent human fleet, stockpiles of defenses, and worlds untainted by poor industrial practices, and would instantly assist in buildups defensive and otherwise within what would be previously-Auroran territory. No religion will be imposed and no loss of rights will be incurred by not following the Catholic faith. Auroran leadership will also be given knight ranks similar in level to the ranks they occupied in their original government, and will retain most control over operations.

Malta builds a military colony in the space south of the galactic Keerim-Lithruan battlefield, in a preemptive show of good faith to the Aurorans.

Spoiler

At first it was dark, the interior of the well deck was silent, the large metal doors slid open, allowing the slightly overcast sun to bathe the US Marines in light, The craft began to putt its engine as it bobbed in the water, slowly but surely it made its way out of the assault ships rear and joined the haphazard line of landing craft, looking forward, Private First Class Cuthos, stood at the front, he grasped his M-21 rifle tightly, before them stood a beach of fortification, the new ‘Atlantic wall’ as it was being called, Three A-18 Thunderstrike’s soared overhead, breaking off to the side they lined up with the beach, the familiar BRTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT breaking the silence of what was only the waves lapping against the hull of the landing craft, The platoon commander turned and Private Cuthos shuffled to the side as much as he could “LISTEN UP DEVIL DOGS, WE ARE GOING IN ON THE FIRST WAVE! LAST TIME IT WAS THE ARMIES TURN, WELL GUESS WHAT TOJO SAT ******* QUIET THIS TIME, SO NO PACIFIC FOR US!” Some nervous laughter and chuckles came from men as the commander continued “MEN, I CANNOT PROMISE TO BRING EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU HOME, BUT IF YOU REMEMBER YOUR TRAINING, AND STAY FOCUSED, WE WILL TAKE THAT BEACH AND SHOW THE MOTHERFUCKERS THAT THERE WILL NOT! BE A FIFTH REICH! IT ENDS HERE, IT ENDS DOWN, SEMPER FI!” The Platoon commander finished his speech as a shell tore through the landing craft to their left, utterly obliterating it, from here merely 100m off shore they could hear the chaos, tomahawk missiles shot overhead as the buzzing of German heavy machine guns penetrated their ears as the lead bullets began tearing into landing craft up and down the beach. The Platoon commander turned to Cuthos as he went to speak “Keep your head down kid and you will be alr-” The lieutenants sentence was cut off as a bullet tore through his helmet and he collapsed to the deck, the blood mixing with the salt water. As private Cuthos knelt down to tend to him a large crash shook the landing craft as it slammed into the beach, the pilot at the rear pulled on a lever and the ramp dropped, from his position Cuthos saw nothing but chaos and blood, the beach ahead of him lay strewn in bodies and barricades as the German soldiers in their bunkers cut down the combined force of Britain the USNA and the South American Commonwealth. A wall of fire erupted in front of the young marine as a landmine detonated at the front of the craft taking out half of the platoon, Private Cuthos threw his rifle over the side as he dove in after it, contrary to the chaos above Cuthos heard only bubbling and the faint zip of machine gun bullets as he sunk to the bottom of the water, grasping his rifle once more he struggled forward saltwater burning in his nose as he made his way onto the beach. Kneeling down he got his first true glimpse of, what could only be described as hell.

latest

From his position he could see APCs and other light vehicles make it onto the beach, in the distance a sea of fire burned brightly on the nearby mountain. Private Cuthos peered around him awestruck as the ringing in his ears took over his senses, to the left of him three men sprinted from the ocean, covered in burning gasoline. To his right he saw a 40mm auto cannon round slam into the face of a navy Seabee, as he hobbled over he turned the man over to find the entire skull caved in, nothing remaining but smoking gibs in a helmet. Though his senses were overwhelmed one thing remained as men were cut down around him, the smell of death. Several corporals and a sergeant pulled Cuthos to the ground as a machine gun bullet ricocheted off his helmet, a narrow miss as he hunkered in a shallow crater. Cuthos continued to look around wide eyed until one of his fellow marines slapped him hard in the face and suddenly he regained his hearing as he snapped to “WAKE THE **** UP PRIVATE! WE ARE GOING TO MOVE FROM THIS CRATER TO THAT SEAWALL, IT'S THE ONLY WAY OFF THE BEACH!” The Sergeant screamed at the young marine over the sounds of battle around them. Rallying the men the ragtag group of marines sprinted from whatever sliver of cover they once had, it seemed like slow motion almost as they ran as fast as they could to get to the seawall, nothing between them and the almighty. And they reached it, machine gun bullets tore up the beach behind them as they made it within the MGs firing arc, wielding his rifle and fixing bayonets the group of marines charged into the pillbox, and the MG trained on H-sector fell quiet. As Private Cuthos sat on the burnt grass looking out over the captured beach he heard President whitestone speaking on today's battle “The debt was demanded, the price, it was paid.” As Admiral Cuthos sat up in his bed, he thought once more back on that day nearly fifty years ago, As he once again sat his sights back on the task at hand, once more, there was a debt to be settled...

Come for the Sights, Stay for the SALES!

The timely arrival of the Ka'cezh Imperium was quite the surprise to the defenders on Tassarea. Rond gathered his droid-army and left the planet to the Tassarans and other humans to protect. He and his guard were guaranteed some time off on Aphrodite, and they were planning to spend that time obscenely drunk.

The droids in his army were being sent back to Hades for retrofitting. Since the war was taking an aggressive turn, the Alastor and Tithonus variants would need to have some retrofits before being sent in to attack a target head-on. The weapons and armour still seemed appropriate, but the droids required greater capacity for independence.

With Aphrodite’s construction plans complete, it was more than a mere resort. It was a place of such entrancing luxury that any species could aspire to holiday there. The beautiful, equatorial beaches were lined with rental property and hotels as far as the eye could see. Warm, crystal-clear water practically begged visitors to dive into its depths and happily soak themselves to the core. Entertainment emporiums and sea-side restaurants intermingled with shopping districts; with business owners greeting all comers with toothy, greedy grins. If someone wished to escape war and terror for a week or two, this was undoubtedly the place to go, as any Ka'cezh could attest.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Firstborn, hey? How did those Hun-minions get their hands on someone like that? Bloody hell, she must be really something to stick around that long.” Steven puffed a cloud of smoke towards the ceiling of his office, where it was sucked up by the complicated filtration system. “I love blonds, Phil. And she was one hell of a Sheila.”  An unpleasant, reptilian smile edged its way across his wrinkled face as Phillip Narau, Super-Accountant, placed a small stack of papers down on Steve’s desk.

“I am sure the alien was objectively attractive sir. The Board needs your sign-off the construction efforts.”

“Huh? Ah, yeah yeah. Sure. One hell of an order, Phil. This’ll be the next notch in the Corporate history books. Who knew we had the resources for this?” Steven laughed as his signed his name on the dotted line; all-the-while sucking and huffing cigar smoke like an indecisive chimney.

“Our expansions have made this order feasible. I would not have supported it otherwise, sir.” Phillip pulled his large arms behind his back, and waited for his employer to finish his signature. “We’ll be seeing the first batch finished by the fourth quarter of this year.”

“Bloody wonderful, Phil. Never thought I’d be presiding over a fleet of warships. We had a few shitty ones back on Earth, but that’s nothing like what we’ll be packing after all this is done. Can’t imagine I’ll see it completed in my lifetime.” Steven sighed, and leaned back in his armchair. His features grew morose, and for a brief moment he appeared to age another twenty years. “You seen little Johnny around, mate?”

“I believe I saw him with his mother in the waiting room, Mr Penrith.”

Steven pulled himself up with some effort, and walked towards the doorway. “You handle the specifics, Phil. Daylight’s burning, and I’ve earned myself a little bit of family time.”

Phillip watched as Steven walked as quickly as he could out of his opulent office. Despite controlling vast swathes of Hephaestus’ administration, he didn’t desire to run it. He didn’t have the vision necessary to run an industry like this. He could crunch numbers, bring about clerical efficiency, but he was no Steven Penrith. Staring out the vast window, he looked upon the tangled web of industry sprawling in his view. What could he hope to achieve at the helm of this madness?

An excerpt from the digital magazine "Corporate Insider."

Interviewer: Gene Hilders

Interviewee: Human Mammal Formally Known as Alex, lead designer of the Themis Class frigate.

Gene: "It's lovely to sit down with you, Human Mammal Formally Known as Alex. Is it okay if I call you that?"

Sphere: "No need for such formalities, Gene. Simply call me 'Sphere,' as it is my ultimate aspiration to be as immutable and formless as a ball. I have taken great care in removing any non-symmetrical aspect of myself, and it is why I am wearing these featureless, latex overalls. If we are to create true art, we must become art ourselves."

Gene: "A fascinating take on your occupation, Sphere. In regards to your work, may we speak about the spacecraft you presented to the Board?"

Sphere: "Of course. It is our greatest achievement as an art school. Warships, Gene, are built for purpose, and the viewers of said vessels are never taken into consideration. Thus it is why many great machines of war are ugly, gray bricks; incapable of enrapturing the observer with anything but their brutal power. What better purpose they would have, were they to inspire other emotions? Are we but automatons incapable of invigorating combat with the immeasurable power of art? I doubted this. Hence, I brought my College to bear, and we created a unique, beautiful vessel."

Gene: "I have read that there were a number of changes to the original design before it was presented. Care to elaborate for our readers?"

Sphere: "Sadly, yes. Even unshackled creators such as ourselves must pay a toll to the peddlers of pragmatism. Engineers we hired to aid us unbalanced our design. For instance, the meditation hall was replaced by an extra engine, the star-viewing ports were exchanged for two large laser weapons, and (most grievously of all) the micro-theatre was thrown out in favour of a secondary reactor. It pains our artistic temperaments to the very core, but art is pain, so our suffering will lead to greater works."

Gene: "One last question, Sphere. It came to our attention just before this interview that the Hades College of the Arts was suffering from a lack of funds. Was this the reason you chose to involve yourself in the Corporate Fleet Design Contest?"

Sphere: "The common slob fears true art, Gene. They wrestle with simplistic notions of 'beauty,' when it is the artist who defines such things! We lacked patrons for our works, because popularity of simple works far outmatch innovative new realms of artistry. The royalties from this post-post-post-post-post-modern, demi-cubist project will ensure our ability to capture the imaginations of Hades for decades to come!"

Gene: "So, you did it for the cash and PR?"

Sphere: "... Yes."

The Themis packs four 12-metre, forward-facing laser-lances. Each one calibrated for greater energy efficiency and faster firing speed. For this purpose it has a secondary reactor in order to power the guns without stressing the core reactor. Though it only boasts basic deflectors, the Itoron-steel hull offers adequate protection from anyone who would fire ordinance towards it. Six small, twin-linked laser-lances act as point defence from fighters that get too close. Beneath it, twelve rocket-pods of Anopheles Swarmer Missiles would ensure that no shield or point-defence would stop an assault. For it's odd shape, the ship was still more than deadly.

-The time has finally come. Hephaestus, in all its decades of being an independent business-nation, has never once personally constructed a warship. Despite being surrounded by allies aplenty, the Board, Steven Penrith, and the swathe of advisers and employees beholden to them, have put in an order for a huge number of military vessels. Unlikely to be completed for quite some time, the substantial order of Eight Themis-class frigates are put into production for the first year. (-16AP)

-A new class of businessmen are recruited on Hades. Specifically organised to bring a friendlier, PR-boosting face to Hephaestus operations around the galaxy. Named Hephaestus Efficient Requisition and Marketing Economic Syndicate (HERMES [What a coincidence!]) are brought in to do what a large number of other marketeers failed to do--gain a market share in the Aurora Technocracy.

The Corporation expresses interest in protecting and absorbing Aurora, mainly due to the wide array of laboratories and scientific institutions present on their worlds. The Corporation offers to not infringe on their way of life, with the exception of all marketable infrastructure and businesses privatised and incorporated. In addition, taxation on individuals would be removed entirely, and many laws and regulations would be thrown away for the benefit of businesses and individual liberties. However, Hephaestus promises to not only keep the multiple scientific institutions 'state'-owned, they also promise to expand them dramatically for the benefit of the former technocracy's scientists. Though Hephaestus does not yet have a fleet, they were in the process of constructing a huge swathe of vessels for the Corruptor War. With the technocracy's science, and Hephaestus' production power, the research and profits could be exponential. Hephaestus was their closest neighbour! They had been in SATO together! They had only good intentions towards their possible future partners!

An advertisement campaign is designed by the HERMES agents to bring across these points to Aurorans with real sincerity. At the end, it asks "What would YOU like to see from a potential Hephaestus/Auroran merger?" along with a mailing address to the closest HERMES admin centre. (-2AP)

-After seeing the cute, fluffy bunny-things in the Alpine planet, the new colonists are suddenly, keenly aware that rabbits in mountainous environments seem oddly similar to an ancient Earth comedy film. Though most bat off the fear as simple, earth-bound superstition, a group of colonists take time to catch one of the rabbit-creatures and examine it carefully. Just in case... [4 AP] The IEN Kalani, an Al Noor class Colonial Freighter, is set to be completed by the end of the year.

[1 AP bonus] With the additional resources set aside by completing the fighters without the use of intended resources, the Eadni High Court actually has enough resources to continue working on their Mass Driver research, though in a limited capacity. Due to limited resources, much of this phase of testing is focused on refining the prototype and testing it at several ranges on hard targets. Computer simulations are also run wherein the weapons systems are added into highly complex equations involving large scale battles.

[0 AP] A few sectors the East are scouted and probed for resources, as well as potentially habitable planets for the new Eadni Colony. Most of the effort is focused on finding a habitable planet, more detailed scans for resources would probably come later with actual investments.

The Battle of Tassarea

0547bd9492ac02adc349f25294320733647a1f29

The Coalition Fleet was battered after the failed attack on the Corruptor Command Centre, but the true battle was still on-going over Tassarea. The Fleet had lost it’s Admiral, it fell to Salen Kotch to take the lead as acting Admiral of the Coalition Forces.

The Federation Destroyer ‘Unyielding Faith’ was his command. Moving to the head of the fleet the Anchoring Station charged up and coordinates were transferred to the fleet courtesy of the SFS Corvettes Hopper and Spiderbait whom were outfitted for low profile travel watching the battle unfold.

All ships, prepare for Tactical Jump on my mark!” Salen ordered. The Anchor primed and locked on to the fleet’s signatures. A sudden loud signal went off on all consoles as he gave the order “Mark!

The Fleet was jumped instantly from Zeta Prime to the outskirts of the battle of Tassarea. Salen looked out the viewport as they stared at a Corruptor Dreadnought and it’s Heavy Cruiser escorts battering on a nearby Tassaran Battleship and it’s dwindling escort ships.

All ships attack formation! Prepare 2 Tactical Solutions target the Dreadnoughts engines!” he shouted

The fleet of 8 Frigates, 6 Destroyers and a Light Cruiser charged at a near direct course for the enemy Dreadnought. As the Cruiser prepared to fire it’s Xylorite Warheads 2 Heavy Cruisers fired a combined salvo at the fleet striking and disabling the Light Auroran Cruiser, the Dreadnought fired a final salvo obliterating the Light Cruiser. The Frigates and Destroyers formed up moving on a course to attempt to link up with the Battleship. The Solarin Destroyers fired their Xylorite Torpedoes at the enemy Cruisers while the Tassaran Battleship engages the Dreadnought disabling it to an extent.

Focus fire on that Dreadnought!” Salen barked. A volley of Xylorite Torpedoes blazed past the Heavy Cruisers and struck critical hits ripping the Dreadnought in half. The Coalition would suffer a few Frigate losses while they rendezvoused with the Battleship.

The Fleet now consisted of 6 Destroyers and 6 Frigates along with the Tassaran Battleship. They moved on to aid a nearby Tassaran Carrier and Destroyer being overrun but a Corruptor Fleet consisting of a Carrier, sub-carrier, and 2 Heavy Cruisers with a swarm of Corvettes. 2 Frigates would break formation and engage the Sub-Carrier, cut off by the heavy cruisers they met a quick demise.

The Corvettes suddenly charged the Coalition fleet which returned fire. A single Corvette breaks through and rams a Federation Destroyer at full speed taking the destroyer with it. Another Destroyer would be lost by the combined fire of the Heavy Cruisers, which then turned their attention to the wounded Battleship.

Heavies 3 and 6 go aid that Destroyer! Liberty and Savannah feign an attack run!” Salen ordered. The Frigates fired up their engines and swept across the Heavy Cruisers fire arcs buying them an opening as they failed to intercept the frigates, taking the bait.

With only 4 Destroyers and 4 Frigates remaining, the Coalition Fleet along with the Battleship open fired on the remaining Cruisers with every weapon in their arsenal destroying them.

Moments later a massive Fleet enters system cutting the Corruptor fleet to pieces.

Salen falls back into his command chair and lets out a sigh of relief. The Battle had been won, the Corruptors decimated in their failed attempts to retreat.

Though it was difficult to admit, thank god for the Chinese and their wonderful Companion.

An Unexpected Ally

Terra Colony, Docking Platform A - Solaris Academy

winter_base.jpg

Salen stands side by Vira Usenko, having recuperated after the Battle of Tassarea some months ago he awaits with Vira in the blistering cold. He stands in his Winterized Admiral Uniform perfectly still. Most training took place in the god forsaken cold anyway, most Solarins were used to it. “Ma’am, who are we meeting for arrival?” he asks

Vira keeps her eyes on the sky as a slight light makes its way down in the night sky “Someone who is going to aid the Federation overhaul it’s Military Programs Salen.

Salen sighed watching his breath be taken by the wind as a shuttle came down towards the Docks. She had kept this pretty hush hush till recently. “What single person could possibly make a difference aiding us? The Redon Emperor?” he remarked.

A slight smile crossed Vira’s face “Close.” she commented as the snow on the platform blew away as the shuttle landed.

The two looked on as the ramp lowered and Several Redon Royal Guard marched down the ramp in a ceremonial formation. A single figure stepped down the ramp to meet the two of them. Vira bowed, Salen followed her gesture.

I am Vira Usenko, Director of the Office of Naval Intelligence. We are proud and honored to have you here Rond of House Trazur.

Rond bows his head “It is a pleasure.

Sol’s Rebirth

Official Stance on the Karass Civil War

Crowds cheered and celebrated all across the colonies at the recent victory at Tassarea. This was the boost in Moral and Hope that the Federation needed. The proud citizens of the Federation could take heart in this to push on until the war was done, until the corruptors the one true menace to the galaxy was eradicated. On the eve of such news the Federation Council had scheduled an important news broadcast. Vira Usenko, not as young as she used to be but still a friendly face to many would address the worlds of the Federation and announce to the other Factions of the Galaxy the Federations Official Stance on the civil war and the recent news of the Auroran Colonies.

Attention Citizens and Soldiers of the Federation! A Great many conflicts plague the southern galaxy. Some far from home, others nearly on our doorstep. The Karass Civil War has many parties involved in its bloodshed. The Backhatta and Protorians fight together against the Redon Imperium, attempting to aid the Rebel Factions. The Redon Imperium fights alongside the Karass Dominion and the Imperial Republic of Mankind. The Rebels that fight against the Oppression of the Karass, Galarons, other Karass whom stand against the Dominion..

Even fellow Humans stand and fight for their freedom in the stars!

The Federation supports the Humans and Galaron Rebels that currently fight the Karass, IRM and the mighty Redon Imperium. Though it is a conflict we shall not join.

Vira looks at the multiple cameras taking a breath

The Karass Dominion does fight to Oppress, to secure its rule over these worlds. But while the Karass Dominion fights to oppress freedom and independence. They have sacrificed so much to fight for our Freedom. It sounds strange I know, but the Karass Queen ordered a massive assault on the Corruptor Dominion. Aiding us! To secure our Freedoms of Life! Our Freedom to Live and Prosper! Therefore in light of such the Federation openly declares it cannot and shall not oppose the Karass Dominion. But nor shall it aid them.

To the warring nations of the Backhatta, Protorians, IRM and the Redon Imperium. Such a Civil War does not need your influence to further the bloodshed that already is taking place. This war is between the Karass Dominion and the Proud and Courageous Humans and Galaron is not for you to interfere. We issue no threat or warning, we only demand that you leave such a fight to be decided by those whom it truly matters. That is all we have to say.

After a short break covering on the Battle of Tassarea the channel returns to Uri Vatsiznov the current Head Councillor of the Federation. He skips introductions and gets right to the point.

The Unification of Two Great Powers

The Federation has heard the Auroran Technocracy recent petition to unify with another colony for strength and security. Such a decision is not an easy one to make, nor is it one to be made lightly. The Proud and Advanced Aurorans have always been close friends and allies of the Federation, they greatly aided in the original formation of SATO. Our two nations represented Humanity on the Galactic Assembly.

We of the Federation Council would like to think that the Auroran Technocracy could have faith and trust in us to be a proper choice for such a unification should it’s citizens will it. We wish to put forward our interest for a unification. To provide Security, Resources, and further the goal to protect Humanity and the Proud Xeno Citizens that make up both the Technocracy and the Federation.

The Auroran Technocracy has recently aided in the Battle of Tassarea, they took the initiative to send us aid to help the Tassaran Republic hold together in their most desperate hour. The Federation has always looked to Aurorans for Technological Aid or Trade, but never had we thought to fight side by side with them. It never seemed their way, but once again we have been surprised by the devotion and power of human innovation. Once again the Aurorans have aided us when we needed it most, After the fall of SATO the Aurorans stood by our side as an Ally but most importantly as a Friend.

A friendship the Federation will never go back on, a friendship the Federation shall never forget. Should the Auroran Technocracy choose another to merge with, The Federation and it’s people will hold no ill will towards them. For they seek to secure their future, and the futures of generations to come. No matter the outcome the Federation will always be devoted to the Friends and Allies we’ve found within their colonies. Fly safe amongst the stars and know your Loyal Allies shall never waver, as you have never wavered for us.

--Actions--

The Federation aids the Silver Knight Corporation in Project Gawain (3 AP)

Using the full knowledge gained from Kalronian Studies with the United Canadian Front the Federation looks to put this new knowledge into their own technology, designing their own interface in the process but look into how they may incorporate these into their Standard Infantry Armors and possibly their Power Armor. (3 AP)

For the next stages of the 8th Crusade the Federation knows Melee Combat is inevitable in certain cases and needs to find a way to better equipped it’s soldiers. They look into ways of providing a technological edge to its ground forces. Several Ideas are put forward, some wish to follow PARs approach others look into the theory of (some say Sci-fi wishing) Energy Blades. (2 AP)

With the short reprieve from the war the Federation once again devotes to exploration in hopes of discovering new materials or deposits of Itoron or Xylorite. They dispatch probes into the surrounding Systems in search of Xylorite, Itoron, Dakite or any other such Strategic Materials (2 AP)

The Federation begins construction of a Colonial freighter (4 AP)

Rond Trazur is brought to Terra’s Solaris Academy being given the tour of the Federation and it’s Military Command Structure. In compensation for loaning his aid to the Federation for the next 5 years the Federation has given Hepheastus their Power Armor Schematics. It is hoped over the next 5 years Rond Trazur can give the Federation some proper insight, advice, and guidance to becoming a stronger and more capable nation in the Galactic Community. (Mod)

The Corvettes Hopper & Spiderbait would be deployed together to scout the deepest reaches of Corruptor space in order to gain more intel for their allies. As such all previous and current knowledge on Corruptor Supply Lines, Shipyards, Rally Worlds and Cuboid C&C Stations would be provided to the Star Empire (Mod)

The Federation finally announces its absolute and official stance on the Karass Civil War, calling out the Redon Imperium, Backhatta, Protorian Council, and the Imperial Republic of Mankind (Mod, See Above)

The Federation puts forward its wishes for a merge with the Auroran Colonies (Mod, Intentions and Reasoning Above)

The Auroran Fleet, the surviving 2 Sub-Carriers and 2 destroyers are returned home for now. The Federation expresses its eternal gratitude. The Men and Women of the fallen Vessels will not be forgotten, a debt the Federation swears to repay in time. (Mod)

The Solarin Fleet of 1 Support Carrier, 2 Destroyers, 4 Frigates and 4 Corvettes would move to Zeta Prime. Their 70,000 Troops re-deployed to New Bayside as they await the next phase of the war.

The People's Agrarian Republic

91oFCPK.png

The war was thankfully now not a looming threat on the people of Utopie. Though many had already seen it as distant, life continued as normal. As it always did, on Jatorak. The farms would always expand, worked by the robots. A veritable horde, every farmer had a team of them. Jobs were drying up in a lot of Utopie's industry. But this had been carefully planned. Now the people are free to do what they will. The food and proper housing is all free. With every passing day, the people voted themselves into a better Utopia.

The Auroran's wishes are quickly addressed by a committee. Of course the voting rounds had been held first. People were not nearly as torn as imagined. It seemed the common consensus was of the same opinion. And so, the committee offers their best to Aurora.

The P.A.R offers to formally vote itself out of existence. The Aurorans would gain all their tech, colonies, and resources. However if that is not to their liking, any term could be offered. The Aurorans would be able to have the upper hand in this union. They could set the terms, and form a union to their liking. It is beautiful in the simplicity of it's nature. Unlike others, Aurora does not have to enter a new nation and be considered just more power under their belt. Here they can ally with a strong technological nation. And the treaty would be written completely by them.

*Utopie's newest colony ship heads out into the stars. They are to settle in a densely clustered system. Using the P.A.R advanced scan droids, they will find the best world to settle. This will put them as friendly neighbors with their Auroran trade partners.

*As always Utopie research grinds on. It would seem the forceblades are now more effective and stable. Research will continue into improving the fuel cells. They hope that with a few more minor improvements, they can begin to lengthen the blade. The Protorians are beseeched to help in the research. The P.A.R would offer any help asked in turn.

**The 8th crusade was a time of historical appreciation. Many scholars convened and took accounts of it. They had been working since the start of the colony. A long tale to eventually be told. By physical means however, the P.A.R offers their services. As a large agricultural power, they can offer bulk deals on a wholesale price. It's hoped the northern nations would want a steady and reliable food source from a Heph Inc. ally.

***With Chaal's help in the timely rescue, the ground forces of Utopie are relived. Bianka Klinghoffer and her men stood down. The space battle had been horrid. But at least they had avoided a ground war. Many of the survivors of the moon battle felt ashamed. Klinghoffer and the few hundred survivors of that battle convene. They vote, and decide to send a delegation. Before the Han depart, they can hopefully gain an audience. She and her men would beg for her judgement. They asked for mercy, but expected death.
