Free Human Technocracy

Planet: Viyter

Location: Unknown

Time: 00:03

The wind-howled through the mountains that peaked over the city of Orion, the peaks were powder white with snow. Winter was at its peak on Viyter. The sounds of boots crunching through the snow could be heard. A lone soul could be seen walking the mountain trail, if someone was watching that is, he looked young, blonde hair and green eyes. Some of his facial features would resemble mostly his father with a sprinkle of his mother in there. The physical aspect came from his father as well, it was his personality that he got from his now deceased mother.

Johnny Walker made this trip to his mother’s grave every month. He went to see her, sometimes it felt like he would get over the pain of his mother’s death but other times it just hurt way too much for him to handle.

He would sit down and talk to her like she was still her, he would tell her about the girls he liked or the issues he was having with his dad. Then he told her that he was leaving, maybe for good. But he would not be back for awhile. He teared up a little. He grabbed her picture one more time and hugged it a little bit before trekking back home, the prepare his journey…

The People's Agrarian Republic

The resources sent to the Eadni for the construction of a new Battleship are put to use by the Holy Kingdom’s workers, building an incredibly capable ship for the P.A.R’s new fleet. It is not equipped with any special Eadni weapons, instead acting as a bare-bones model, easily modifiable for the P.A.R.

The colony ship proves difficult to modify, however after almost a year in the P.A.R’s shipyard, the colony ship rises complete and ready for action. The boat is also complete.

Another 100 strike suit fighter mechs are completed.

The resources are sent to the GTC, allowing them to seek out northern doctors.

The obtained crops do not appear to be remarkable in any way, common grain crops the Kalronians use to produce bread and other dough-related products it seems.

The Galactic Trade Federation of Orimon

Haephestus receives the money and resources required to make such improvements.

Several smaller Northern practices volunteer to send their doctors with H’Wong and Cynn sending the majority.

Project THEIA continues under GTC investment.

Quite the reverse situation appears, as the Zyrka withdraw their support upon the tax being imposed. Zyrka Engineering claims they would look for alternative approaches. (Zyrka investments lost)

The Central Administrative Complex, a truly incredibly feat of post-Earthly architecture and engineering, nears completion. It should not require too much further investment to complete, it just needs some finishing touches.

Victoria’s shipyard churns out its first ship, the freighter.

The slow and humble snail people called the Krib, do indeed head south, a dozen civilian ships soon heading there.

Despite all efforts, the Darkul show little interest, exchange few words, not intent to learn any language that is not their own. The merchants that show up on the station in the Carina galaxy all use gestures for the most part.

Quite contrary, Ymoria withdraws any support for the GTFO.

With the withdrawal of much support and traffic of the Northern Nations, the influx of resources dies down substantially (1 AP only from 8th crusade now). All resources, regardless if they are Itoron, Xylorite or else, are being declared military property and kept away from any potential taxation.

THE HOLY KINGDOM OF EADN

Seeing their allies in this war, the Karass Queen actually agrees to the establishment of these mutual embassies. They are to be setup post haste, the Eadni being located in the west administrative complex of the Dominion palace.

The test commences.

The Eadni battleships is constructed as planned and sent off.

Not a single word leaves the colony, the material remaining in existence, literally unconvinced by any attempt to move it, bend it, break it, manipulate it in any way or form, catch it or else. It remains there. The scientists are very confused. Holes in space, they call it.

And thus new factories spring up, ready to produce what the kingdom and its soldiers need for the battles to come.

Star Republic of Edonia

The three Nelson-Class frigates help the Star Republic supplant some of its losses from an earlier conflict. They are built with a sense of patriotic fervour.

The authoritarian regime of the former U.C.I. is eliminated ruthlessly by the new order, implementing a democratic government for and by the people. [Democracy buffs in, Authoritarian out].

Aliens take note of the new open-door policy of the Star Republic, though for now no new alien immigrants come in.

The clue as with any shell is, that shells that do pierce armor, sometimes are propelled at such high velocities, that they pierce the other side as well and then explode outside the actual supposed target. Contact explosive shells though with shrapnel effect do have some potential for unintentional point defense, or damaging smaller outlying systems. Planetary bombardment might also profit from such a shell.

Disassembling one of the phasic weapons turns out that they are actual just energy weapons, that utilize a different type of energy. They don’t use any other materials, they use Xylorite energy cells, their technological makeup is similar to laser rifles or disruptor rifles. But how to gain weaponized phasic energy emitted is unbeknownst and there are no clues in the weapon leading to it.

The humanitarian aid sent to the federation would do well to benefit the Solarin recovery efforts. The people of the Solarin are extremely grateful and praise the new republic’s efforts.

The armors are converted, the corvette is sent to the GTC, and the 1500 laser rifles are completed.

The Ganvius are always willing to take a trade deal. Depends mostly on the specifics of such.

The Sovereign Military Order of Malta
Tjierans seem incredibly grateful for this prioritizing of their needs, and many from Malta come in mass to live on the planet. Though its effects are not yet felt in a significant increase in their population, potential migrants are certainly interested in making the move. Meanwhile, the habitable colony is successfully established with no real difficulty.

To go where noone has gone before.

The Frigate and destroyer are completed.

The captured Kalronians don’t show any misconduct, they stick to any given schedule, do as asked. Cold are their gazes nonetheless, as they observe their captors.

United States Of Arcturus

Three corvettes are completed and a significant amount of resources are poured into Project Infallible. In the meantime, President Hughes is successfully transported to the Solarins without issue.

The Kingdom of Unified Systems

And indeed, they are successful at finding a strange black ore on Zukaden II. According to the knowledge obtained in the brief time of contact with the rest of the galactic community, it’s a very commonly used metal, called Itoron. Known for it’s resilience and hardness, it will certainly prove good to have. The search on the other system returns to particularly interesting yields.

Contact is established, and quite quickly. Considering the past interactions between the nations, language poses absolutely no barrier for any race that contacts the KUS.

In one of the systems, new farmlands are being claimed, and set up to host the new fields to feed the people of the KUS.

The Solarin Federation

Whilst the Grgl do send assistance for such a memorial, the Libellans and Tassaran kindly decline, whilst regretting the death of these people, their own nations are devastated by warfare, with the former suffering under Keerim genocides on dozens of worlds.

The research that is conducted does not yield any results for the Warp drive yet, but instead a first functional forceblade that uses disruptor energy is being built. Whilst it is unable to stay powered for extended periods of time, in quick combat situation it might turn out to be quite the boon.

Curtailing the freedom of opinion might not be very… pleasing to many people, but in times like these, the population certainly agrees upon the need for it. Still, parents are concerned that their children are being trained to be soldiers.

The Han Dominion

The trade station is finished as planned, extending Han’s capacities to trade effectively by a lot.

Andorra

Signature dampening is the first step to an effective cloak, so the scientists claim and get to work. No results to speak of yet, but they are working in a right direction now.

So they settle this new world. The metal they soon mine from the planet turns out to be a very resilient and hard material, that alloys very well with iron (steel), and outperforms Titanium for space constructions and other appliances.

In sight of the contact, a ship that passes by, actually hails them in a human language, English. A Hephaestus trader on his way to the GTFO, which is a neighbouring human colony. With a brief exchange, they do give the government of Andorra all knowledge they need about the current galaxy and the situation.

Hephaestus Enterprises
The new trade station is finished as planned.

The lances are being optimized, energy consumption actually going down with the introduction of a new energy transfer system devised by a Backhatta scientist.

And they buy and acquire. And lose. The Auroran economy, whilst it is possible to integrate them, introducing new currencies, and so forth, does not appear to be just buyable. They retaliate and outmaneuver Hephaestus representatives in every thinkable way, actually gaining a foothold in the markets on Hephaestus worlds. Auroran products show high quality, their business people being led and assisted by a group of extraordinarily smart people.

The expansion of the Auroran academies continues as planned. Perhaps one day the galaxy’s smartest people will receive an education here.

More Itoron. Two sectors west both hold Itoron rich worlds.

Deciphering the tablet turns out to be a difficult task. There appears nobody who really knows the language, even Protorians are unfamiliar with the symbols and letters on it.

Kingdom of Armathwaite/Silver Knight Corporation

Using fusion engines, the Mech is actually quite capable of flying in any atmospheric condition, without the need to transform.

More secret stuff.

They continue their work on the trade port as planned (please list the amount of AP so far).

Whilst a new freighter is ready to transport the goods and men of the Kingdom, they do find Itoron on the new colony.

Asgard Republic

The onset of the space station goes as planned, and the first structure is in place.

With all the activity going on about the new colony, they do manage to find long ravines filled with crystals that are also known as Xylorite on the new colony.

The industrial investments proceed as planned, the improvement of the suit designs gets hampered though by a few unrelated events.

Both corvettes are finished as planned.

    Imperial Republic of Mankind

One Light Cruiser, 100 Heavy Walkers, 1000 Hunter droids, 100 Tank bots are added to the Imperium’s arsenal.

The foreign world as it is, appears to have sunken into a global conflict, much alike the human world wars. It seems to have been going for about two years by now, with several monarchies fighting eachother, two major ideologies also present in two of the four power blocks. One clearly is capitalistic, the other clearly more aligned to socialism or communism.

Technology is limited to basic air ships and simple planes, rifles and artillery dominating the scene, the first versions of tanks rolling over battlefields here and there.

    Thulean Republic

And they come in swathes. Krib. Snail people in the thousands.

The Kalronian crops appear to be common grain crops, nothing special. They can be used to make bread for that part.

About a quarter of the Da’nor prove to have psionic abilities, although mostly from low to average levels. Only a few individuals do truly stand out and can use interesting abilities.

Both ships are finished as planned.

Free Human Technocracy

And the colony ship sets down upon a new world.

General improvements take place to optimize the interconnection between the implants and the nervous systems.

Whilst business expands as intended with Kyber Kore as its focus, the destroyer is built as proposed.

United Canadian Front

The ship is finished as planned and joins the Canadian fleet.

Wrapping up developement, a proper suit is finally ready for production. It meets the required specifications, whilst it is definitely not absolutely on par with the Kalronian suit, it is still an excellent combat armor to have.

The colony ship lands on the new world, a new home for the Canadian people.

Events

The truce continues, the peace talks are to be hosted in Hephaestus, as requested by the Redon himself. All major warring parties have agreed. The request is filed.

With the onset of the truce, there are humans of the former colony of Xie, leaving the space where they have little left of home, after the Karass fought violently over their former colony. These refugees head for various human colonies, with a huge swarm of civilian ships headed for their closest kin, the Han.

The Lithruan Coalition continues to bleed for the safety of everyone else. More battles are won, more Keerim perish under their phyrric assaults.

The Trade Federation

9v5lRx1.png

Marcus Taylor was holding his wife close as they watched TV when the door to his penthouse apartment was kicked open. It was an old-fashioned door, and not even his main entry. The main entry was a sliding, fortified metal slab meant to stop any sort of intrusion. Apparently, the home invaders hadn’t had any issues with that one. He leapt up as splinters flew across the room and a dozen large shapes rushed in.

Sci-Fi-Art-Nivanh-Chanthara-Breach-992x6

“Stay where you are! FSF!” yelled the front-most man. He wore dark body armor with a blank black visor concealing his features. Marcus had seen these men before, sometimes guarding meeting rooms, sometimes taking away tax-evaders.

“What is the meaning of this?” said Marcus, his voice rising above the hubbub of footsteps and radios. Two men passed next to him, heading for the kitchen and he moved to step in front him. By the time he had taken half a step, the leader of the group had slammed him to the ground and yanked an arm up behind his back.

“I said stay where you are!” he yelled into Marcus’ ear, shoving his face into the thick, lush carpet. Somewhere deep inside of his pain-addled mind, a piece of Marcus thanked whatever gods were up there that he had ignored Julias pleas and had a carpet set across their living room.

“...News of the northern nations turning away from the GTC has spread across the globe…” the TV was saying as someone shoved Julia to her knees and cuffed her. Marcus could only watch through one eye as the other began to swell closed. Julia was shoved to the ground beside him, her eyes wide with fear, but Marcus had eyes only for the television. How had he not been notified of this disaster?

Across GTC-P, other FSF strike teams smashed open doors and yanked people out of their beds. Tony Blaze Jr., Leopold Smith, Debora Courton, Gunther Beerdebrant. All the big CEO’s that had led the nation into this disaster were nabbed in the night and thrown into a cell. Most were judged over a half a dozen vague claims and some real ones, then fired from their position as CEO's for gross incompetence. Only Marcus Taylor and Tony Blaze Jr. mysteriously disappeared, they were said to have last been seen going into the slums of GTC-P...

In one of the high offices of the Central Administrative Complex, a man tweaked a few papers in front of him. His father had always taught him to use paper for things he didn’t want to be seen by others. Tony Blaze Jr. Jr. looked up at the three people in front of him.

“This whole plan was a catastrophe. Let’s pray that none of us repeat the mistakes of our predecessors.”

-------------------

Marcus Taylor had lost it all. Fortune, fame, power, even his wife. Now, he stared up at the barrel of a gun and struggled to bring himself to fear it.

“Get it over with,” he said to the squint-eyed asian.

The man glanced to his compatriots before shrugging. “Tony Blaze Jr. Jr. sends his regards.”

The taxes are reverted and removed from any trade flowing through the GTC, which they would do literally the moment the nations announce they're pulling out.  (0AP)

Undeterred by the setback of their predecessors, the new leaders of the GTC seem ever more determined to not repeat their mistakes and decide to grow their influence. They pour even more resources into the expansion of their station. (10 AP for T3) (30 invested)

With the Central Administration Complex nearing the end of it’s construction, the new leaders of the GTC add the final funds to finish off the minor details and prepare it for its purpose. (1AP) (7 invested)

THEIA continues, in hidden rooms on hidden planets… (4AP) (17 invested)

The new leaders of the GTFO get their best diplomats and their best economists together. They take a significant portion of the taxated resources and return them to the nations free of any charge. With them come the diplomats, a few are sent in person to each signatory nation. They are there with one purpose, to turn the nations back to the GTC. They claim that the taxation was a hairbrained scheme developed by the previous leaders, who have now been replaced. That they could not understand that the culturally acceptable taxes on earth would not work here, with more developed nations. They ask the nations to reconsider their stance, as the new leaders will make no such mistakes. They then offer the resources back, as a gesture of goodwill more than anything. They apologize for the greed of their predecessors and ask the nations to not see the new leaders under the same light.  (4AP) (Above for more details)

With new leaders, come reforms. The GTFO officially renames itself to the Trade Federation to distance itself from previous mistakes.

The previous leaders of the GTFO are for the most part thrown out of power but allowed to continue living, with most of their assets confiscated to pay for the issues they have caused. Only Marcus Taylor and Tony Blaze Jr. disappear into the slums of GTC-P, never to return.

1AP - Having being made aware of the nature of Xylorite and its potential uses through general involvement in galactic commerce, Asgard seeks to adapt foreign techniques of extraction, refinement and usage on the Xylorite deposits found on Vanaheim. State investment is increased in Vanaheim's embryonic mining sector to assist this.

1AP - Research into the jumpsuits continues.

1AP - Research into improving shield technology begins. The basic deflectors gifted to Asgard by Hephaestus have certainly decreased the damage caused by micro-meteoroid impacts and atmospheric entry on Asgarder vessels, but intelligence from the wider galaxy (and general knowledge) have shown that these designs are woefully inferior to most shield designs used by almost all other powers.

2AP - Research also begins on improvements to Asgarder weapon technology. Most Asgarder military vessels are equipped with basic missile technology, with the use of nuclear weaponry only authorised in times of declared war and not part of an ARN ship's standard armament. Research grants now favour work into more practical and competitive solutions to the challenge of an enemy incursion into Asgarder territory. Disruptor technology is given approval for additional funding.

Thulean Republic

The huge influx of Krib, as well as the continuing population explosion among the human populace and further immigration to Prima Thule, was quite the shock for the Republic. Outside of their rather unique molluscoid appearance, the sheer number of them meant the bureaucratic organs of the Département de l'économie et du travail was nigh overwhelmed, but with sufficient prior planning and several late nights, they managed to be allocated to housing and employment quickly enough. Most of the Krib, who possess a natural affinity for farming, are assigned to assisting with the agricultural work.

With the Thulean populace approaching 30% alien population, the Council decides it is of considerable importance to facilitate their integration into the Republic. Courses are offered to adults so they can better learn the French language, as well as the Thulean culture and history. In primary and secondary education, the Republic decides to follow a policy of integration whereby alien children are educated in the same classes as humans, as well as hiring additional alien teachers (so long as they are fluent in the language and cultural knowledge), so as to better foster interracial relations within the population. Alien children are of course given extra classes to ensure that any language or culture barriers are broken down.

As for the Da'Nor psionics, the census is regarded as rather successful, with around 2200 proving to have psionic potential of any description. Naturally the greatest interest is in the more powerful and unique of them, but the Council determines to try and find a place where every psionic's potential, no matter how mundane, can be utilised. The more powerful ones are approached and offered monetary compensation in addition to the ability to fulfil their potential, in exchange for allowing the Republic to catalogue, test, and help develop those abilities. A private resort is constructed for them and their families, along with specialist facilities to ensure that their powers can be tested, researched, and developed in environment that is as conducive as possible. As for the weaker and less unique psionics, they too are catalogued, and if there are any areas of industry, service, or bureaucracy where their abilities would increase the efficiency in those areas, they are given newly-created jobs in those areas. Their old jobs would easily be filled by the constant influx of immigrants.

The Thulean Republic lays claim to the sector to the west, containing the desert planet with trizendrium deposits, which has been given the name Nouvelle Bourgogne. Both of the light freighters in the Thulean fleet are dispatched to the system, henceforth named Belenos, carrying prospective miners and the equipment and resources necessary to establish a mining colony there, which is quickly being called Havre by those journeying there.

A great deal of resources are concentrated into expanding the orbital shipyard above Prima Thule, so as to expand the shipbuilding capacity of the Republic, both in concurrent number and size.

A recruitment campaign for the Garde Républicaine begins, seeking to expand the size of the Garde to 2,000 troops. Furthermore, an equipment renovation takes place using technology obtained from an ally, arming the Gardes with Jump-Packs and Ares II laser rifles. Preparations also begin to produce heavy weapons and support equipment (such as Man-Portable Air-Defense Systems, mortars, and machine guns) that use trizendrium once the mines on Nouvelle Bourgogne become operational.

A request is put forth to the Trade Federation to allow the Thulean Republic to join the GTC, the benevolence of the Federation being demonstrated to the Thuleans by the sending of the Krib immigrants to Prima Thule.

The Kingdom of Unified Systems

"Rule Britannia."

uk.png.b2e4b37739548ed9ec67f50a113b2331.png

A transmission flickered to life on a dull screen in a horribly drab room

"Today our great leader has established an alliance with"

"Great, more political news."

The screen flickered once more as the channel changed, with the screen cutting out every few seconds

"When is this god forsaken colony going to get some reliable power.."

"In other news the Peoples Agrarian Republic have established the Central Powers Confederation with The KUS."

The screen continued to blink every few seconds making it hard to see what was happening on screen

"The Central Powers Confederation or CPC have set a main goal to maintain a steady growth of each members population."

"That's rich."

"The current King of the KUS will serve as the CPC's figurehead and keep all current power over the KUS."

The screen then cut out for around ten seconds leaving only audio in the dark room

"The CPC has said the following.."

The screen then blinked rapidly and then switched to a video of King Richard standing in a very metallic room, with a huge blizzard taking place in a window behind him.

"Citizens, Our grand kingdom has joined the CPC. The CPC is a confederation between us, and The People's Agrarian Republic, I will act as the figurehead of this union, and keep all power over the KUS, The CPC will have meetings for all major decisions and each member will send a representative, me acting as ours. That is all."

A figure would approach Richard and whisper something into his ear

"Maybe you should say more and sound more official sir."

The King then lead the figure off camera and the screen went blank

"Not a good public speaker.."

A single woman walked out across the frozen streets of Zukaden-II, She pulled a thick hood over her eyes, trying desperately to defend herself from the blizzard.

"Why did they have to pick a world made up of ice and snow.."

Many faces appeared at windows of the newly constructed buildings, probably thinking why someone would be walking around in the middle of a blizzard, the woman looked up at the windows as she walked along, wishing desperately for some warmth

"A bit further, come on now.."

The woman continued to stumble about across the frosty path, sometimes stopping in her tracks and thinking if she had gotten herself lost on the way

"I hate this planet so much."

The woman eventually turned down a small alley and approached an empty building with a big sign hanging from the wall, beckoning all to come closer.

"First office of the KUS Humanitarian Service."

The woman smiled to herself as she said the words and entered

People's Agrarian Republic

Elections were in! Following the expected path, the Nazis have taken power. They had done so at the will of the people through the people. The new German parliament was oddly enough not of the old. It was primarily aliens who had made their run into office. Less than a third of the new government was humans. These human-germans were focused on much more basic pursuits. They filled the military, and expanded the farms. It was up to the far more learned aliens to dictate actual policy.

And the policy they were seeing is beginning to be put into action. A alien team of doctors from the north are welcomed into the Nazi payroll. It is with their critical skills that work begins. They are given free reign to find the best P.A.R doctors and hire them. They will begin to from an elite staff to house the hospital ship. As the mercs and their affiliates head to the stars, they will train. As promised the P.A.R heads north..

The reformation of the Red Cross (now Galactic Red Cross) is announced to the galaxy. With the aims to provide basic needs to any living form regardless of race or nation. The old colony ship that had saved the Germans is now their capital ship. It will set off at once with it's training staff. They seek to catch up to the 8th crusade. It of course will not be so hard to catch up. Upon reaching it they will begin to help as they can. Carrying as many stasis pods as they can to help the corrupted. And medical equipment on the ship for those not tainted. Accompanying them will be an adequate security force and naval escort.

The Kingdom of Unified Systems is announced to the people as an ally. That as well as a fellow Confederate. They had entered a pact, one of peace and growth. The Central Powers Confederation was the official name. Their explicit goals were for stability, a rising population, and forming deterrence against war. They were effectively rendered neutral, and had formed closer ties with the Free Economic Zone. The nations listed will all begin to trade and work together.

The P.A.R's very first battleship is taken home to be refitted. It won't take long as they work to specialize it. After completion it will remain in orbit over Jatorak. An ever present reminder of security. Alongside this it will guard the new colony ship. The population had exploded to that of six hundred thousand! This was a large democratic milestone and action needed to be taken.

*With these new ships adding to security, measures are halted for now. The main focus (And by far!) is to be into agriculture. Already Jatorak was a alpine world of soaring towers and fields. Every valley each had it's own heart town. Surrounding it was the ever present farms. For decades now a natural growth pattern had been formed. Every harvest saved seed, that seed was given to the next frontier out. And every farmer had access to agriculture and domestic robotics. And with this the world has slowly become a true Agrarian state. Even though the world was so fine tuned, more work is now put in. The nation as a whole will seek to open better and quicker avenues. So many nations [including the crusaders]  bought their food, and the people were always well fed. It was time to focus on efficiency and the population growth values!

Immediately upon arrival in Eadni space, the 20,000 Xie are directed to the planet Idris in the Al’Noor system. For several weeks, the Xie are treated with the greatest amount of gentleness and care, ensuring that all 20,000 are cared for and on planet. Once established on the planet in a single refugee camp, the ship they utilized to arrive into Eadni space are promptly eliminated by the Eadni fleet, arriving in orbit to crush them. Immediately a force of sum 16,000 Eadni Marines are deployed to the refugee camp, forcibly interning the Xie and registering them into the Eadni index. Each Xie is stripped of his name and family with great care being taken into separating families from one another. Those who resist heavily are slaughtered without question. Once the Xie have been successfully suppressed, they are scattered. This scattering of the Xie among each of the Eadni colonies serves as a way of weakening them, ensuring their ideas do not spread amongst one another and whatever cultural identity they possess would slowly disintegrate. Additionally, so as to ensure the Xie cannot get the word out of their repression, the Xie are exclusively put to work in mines which are entirely automated, run entirely from stations miles away from the mines themselves. Effectively no means of escape are established for these prisoners, and a heavy presence of fighters and marines ensure that these camps remain that way - isolated.

The production of two Halsey Destroyers would begin and by year's end would be completed. (6 AP)

Upon noticing their shells would explode way past target the science team would then hypothesize that by adding a timer that would be triggered after the shell makes contact and penetrates a target’s armor it would explode once this timer is set off, this would hopefully lead to the shell exploding within the targets hull. Scientist would give this shell the name HEAS, otherwise known as High-Explosive Anti-Hull. (1 AP|2 AP already invested)

Seeing that the weapon is basically an energy weapon the scientist would be content with their duties and would then report to the president. Upon his orders the government would contract multiple facilities to begin producing more Ares II rifles. (1 AP)

Research would begin on developing Tri-Phased shields for the UCI’s growing fleet, they would request to speak with the Ganvius on how they could proceed. They would also begin to look over current shield tech seeing if adding more capacitors or increasing power could allow for an  additional layer. (1 AP) (MOD)

Better Prices, Better Value, Better Service!

The surprise across Corporate Space is palpable. All the warring factions across the Southern galaxy had unanimously chosen Hephaestus Enterprises to be the site for negotiation. Well, if they were going to be the site for negotiation, they were going to present the HIGHEST PR-BOOSTING RESPONSE POSSIBLE. Rather than the usual site for negotiations in the Grand Cairo Casino, Hephaestus opts to invite them to the towering gray monolith of the Hephaestus Central Administration Building.

ifJYdxx.jpg

Special arrangements are made for the arriving diplomats. The best conference room in the tower is requisitioned, along with a small number of experienced caterers and decorators. The decor was to look tasteful and attractive, but not overly bombastic. Drinks and small snacks catered to the varying species will be supplied. Should it be desired, private rooms will be put aside for the factions to gather notes and discuss things outside earshot from the others.

Significant space would be bought up nearby the tower for landing space. The enforcers are put on high alert, and will be securing the streets and skyways near the path the delegates will travel. Any attempts to disrupt or attack the convoy will be met with stern force. Those left over will be keeping an eye on overly-emotional employees. Any race-based violence would be put down, and the employees fined, or even fired.

The terms of Hephaestus hinges on the following things--the details of which are sent to those involved.

1. No more than four warships equal to or smaller than a standard destroyer may escort the delegates into Corporate space.

2. No more than six armed guards may escort the delegate planet-side.

3. Any attempts to attack one-another while in Corporate space will be met with forceful ejection, and the offending parties will be billed for any damage to employees and property.

If deemed necessary, Hephaestus offers up Phillip Narau - lead accountant - as a mediator during the meeting.

Action Points:

4AP by default,
6AP through trade,
4AP through 8th Crusade Port,
4AP from population,
7AP from sectors,
3AP from industry,
1AP from business,
4AP from USA (this turn only).

:33AP in total:

-Hephaestus accepts the request to host the negotiations within its borders. (refer to the previous parts of this post for details). (-0AP)

-An order is received from the United States of Arcturus to construct and deliver 15,000 "Defender" droids, which in reality were just re-branded Tithonus droids. As per their request, programming manuals and modification tools are sent along with the 'bots so the Arcturans can re-purpose the droids to use weapons other than the default ones they come with. Why? Who cares. Money!! (-3AP)

-An order is placed for a colony ship. Produced over Hades, bidding instantly begins for seats on the spacecraft, with a majority of mining subsidiaries getting tickets. (3AP)

-The Acquisition Frenzy continues. Steven Penrith is bloody impressed (mate!) about the tenacity and profitability of his new employees! He watches in glee as some former-Auroran subsidiaries make it on to the Board, replacing a few of the more languid Board members. Free-market capitalism, baby! (-3AP)

-More resources are sent to the former-Auroran scientific institutions! What Jim Bean hopes to gain from all this is still anyone's guess, but it's expected some sort of venture from him will occur in the future. (-2AP)

-The ship-borne laser-lances continue to be worked on. Surprised and confused that the scientists and engineers continue to decrease energy consumption (useful, no doubt), the Board politely reminds them that they're supposed to make them more powerful in terms of burning things holes in things. Still, they hadn't failed them yet, and energy-efficiency would be good for catering to later improvements. (-10AP)

-The shipyard over Aurora and Hades fire up once again. Despite their high cost, three destroyers are put into production. (-12AP)

-Finding that that the words on the tablet are indecipherable even to Protorian experts, Steven begins to wonder just how much it's worth. Grabbing hold of a few HERMES agents to transport it, he contacts the Protorian Archiver for an assessment and possible translation. (-0AP)

“You’re fidgeting, little one. Why?” Chaal asked, and Hanying only smiled back mirthfully. As if the Saryn didn’t already know. It wasn’t like she closed her thoughts to her guardian under normal circumstances, but right now she doubted she could, excited as she was to see a new planet. The Protorians were wonderful of course, but three years of seeing nothing but them would begin to get dull for anyone. At last, Hanying had the chance to travel again, and what a chance it was!

The ship they’d almost come on was colossal, so large she had doubted it was real when it first appeared in the sky. But real it was, a vessel so large that even its shuttles were the size of a Han frigate. Hephaestus was perhaps wise not to let such a majestic piece of equipment awe their employees. Nevertheless, as much as it would have dominated the sky, Hanying found herself no less impressed by her surroundings, as she glanced out the window every few moments. The space was teeming with ships of every size and function: merchant vessels from all across the southern galaxy, Ka’cezh troop transports, pleasure yachts from the planet below, all going about their business like swarms of bees.

The shuttle glided to one of hundreds of airlocks, and Hanying was on her feet before its motion even stopped, though it did her little good. It was nearly another half hour before the guards were satisfied with security, and the doors opened onto the planet of Hades. The ancient, blue-skinned Archivar was first outside of course, after the guards, but she and Chaal soon followed.

Hanying looked around her with fascination as they stepped onto the planet. It was as much alive as the space above it: trains rushed back and forth between the city’s towers, while throngs of pedestrians clogged the footpaths below, pushing past stands selling strange-looking Grgl food and kitschy souvenirs alike. The roar of the crowd was everywhere, underscored by that of vehicles and the pulse of music from the city’s entertainment establishments.

Chaal looked as calm and regal as ever, but the seventeen-year-old knew her well enough to know when she was stifling a grimace. Crowded, noisy cities weren’t exactly her element. Even as the Han grinned up at her companion teasingly, a wave of calm seemed to emanate from the Saryn, and the area around them noticeably mellowed.

“Hey!” said Hanying, out loud. “Aren’t you always telling me not to do that sort of thing?”

Chaal sighed, and the calming aura faded away. “Attempting to mentally influence the children of council members into cleaning your room is not at all the same.”

“That was once. And it didn’t work. Maybe it would have, if you hadn’t walked in…”

The Protorians and their two guests continued to move away from the docking port, and the local Enforcers had by now shown up to make the walk less stressful. A large, luxurious bus pulled up but as the delegation began to get on board Hanying’s eyes drifted back to the crowd, past a building surrounded by scantily-clad Tassareans, to a row of street food carts strategically placed by the restaurants with longest lines, and further along to where a 10 meter tall fiberglass kangaroo stood over a shop proclaiming itself “Shirl’s Seraglio O’ Keychains.”

She quickly fought off the urge to look at some of the aforementioned keychains, but was nevertheless intrigued. The crowd stretched on and on down even more streets, lined with even more establishments filled with activity. There was even one with a hologram of a horse, for some reason, advertising something called ice cream. Hanying had never heard of such a thing, but it certainly sounded worth trying. She turned to look back to her guardian, who was now stepping into the bus.

“Do you mind if-”

“I’m sure you’ll avoid trouble. But don’t stay out too long. You know where to find us.” The edge of Chaal’s mouth curled upward almost imperceptibly.

And so Hanying vanished into the crowd without fear, to fully experience her first Wairen human colony.

The Dominion is silent...except for the continuous broadcast of more unknown music, without explanation.

Andorra la Nova: Trade Center

andorra-city-wallpaper-hd-13.jpg

"So, let me make sure I got this straight. A foreign ambassador showed up, one of the first foreign ambassadors we've seen in years, and you two spoke to him without me or Pablo, the central leaders of our country!" José exclaimed.

"W-well, he seemed very busy when we spoke. He was in the middle of a trade errand..."

"And he wasn't really an ambassador either, just a businessman from," She pulled the man's business card out of her pocket, and said it slowly in her strong Catalan accent  "Hepfaestoos Entérpreeses." She paused and cleared her throat, "Oh, and also it's Pablo or I. 'Me or Pablo' is bad grammar."

José sighed, "Well, fine. Regardless, what did you speak with this fine gentleman about?"

"Well, there some good things and some bad things, which do you want to hear first?

"Just tell me what he said."

"Good or bad."

"Are we really doing this now?"

"Come on José, we both know he won't quit."

"Fine, tell me the bad stuff first, maybe the good things will give a positive ending."

"Alrighty! So, most of the southern galaxy is embroiled in many bitter conflicts. One called the '8th Crusade' in particular seems to be getting a lot of attention, and I think they're fighting these scary spider-poison-aliens."

"Corrupters, Fernando."

"Yes, right, Corrupters. And those guys invade worlds and mess them up. Oh, also there are many, many competing factions for trade dominance.

"The strongest being the company which the businessman worked for, and a very close neighbor of ours called the Trade Federation."

"Yup, and there are a whole bunch of other dangerous things out there like deaths rays and space bombs. But, to put a positive spin on things, the Hephaestus guy sold me a pretty nice microwave."

"Fernando," said José as he laid his hand on Fernando's shoulder, "You are horrible at motivational speeches, remind me next time to have Isabella do it."

"OK!" Said Fernando, clearly too excited about the microwave to care about José's criticism.

"Well, despite Fernando's doom and gloom, there are a few more good things. Firstly, all that fighting is so far south that we probably don't have to worry about it anytime soon. Also, I have used the quantum communicators to send a message to the Trade Federation, and they have agreed to a business partnership with us."

"My, I'm impressed with your initiative Isabella. Also, I would like you to try and set up more trade relations with anyone willing, even alien parties. Do your best to make it appeal to them.

"Oh, I don't know about the aliens though, if they are causing so much trouble it may not be a good idea."

The sound of a microwave popping some kernels can be heard in the background.

"Well, I'm sure not all the aliens are bad, so just send it to the peaceable ones. And if it makes you feel better let's prohibit immigration for now, and only let those coming for business get temporary residence. We can open our doors some more once we find out who we can trust."

"Fine. Well, while your here I'll inform you that Project H.I.P.S. is on the right track now, and the scientists are working on something called 'signature dampening.' I'm still not quite sure what that is, and to be honest it just makes me think of wet documents, but they sound like they know what they're doing."

"Yep," Fernando would say, taking a bite of popcorn every so often, "And the researchers in Mindesorra have found out that the new, black ore makes an extremely durable alloy when mixed with steel. I think the Hephaestus guy said that it was called Itoron or something like that. Pablo had the ships sent over there to get them fitted with it."

"Sounds good, and maybe have some material sent back here to see if the people working on Project Hidden In Plain Sight can use it in their dampening thing."

"Can do, sir. Also, I think it might be wise to slowly begin building up our military so we're ready if any trouble comes our way."

"I like it, go on ahead and build a corvette with the extra materials coming in from Monárid." José glanced at his wristwatch, "Hmm, I need to meet with our agricultural advisor soon. I should be on my way."

"Oh, before you go, the businessman told us to watch out for this knock-off company led by a certain 'Han Dominion' that I think he called 'Bló-oo-dee Hefurstoos.'"

"Yeah, it's pretty bad. I hear their microwaves are faulty!"
