The Trade Federation

Admiral Eldrige watched the live feed from a room far below the surface of an unnamed moon. The lighting was dim and red, permeating the edges of the room in a dull glow and leaving the middle devoid of color, a black hole lit only by one screen layed out flat upon a table. She gripped its edges with white fingers, her gaze focused upon the events with hawk-like attention. The drone filming the scene shuddered as a railgun fired nearby, streaking the void of space with a glimmer of ionized gas particles. It spun around with the round, following it as it crossed the gap between the two small fleets, but even as the shot was powering up within the cannons of the opposing ship, its target had moved. Sleek and quick as a snake, the frigate swerved out of the way and spun at an angle that would have torn apart a normal operating crew. It’s matte black hull shone dully in the light of the nearby sun as the shot skimmed along its shields, sparkling in an irridescent glow of energy. Then its righted itself just as fast and in the blink of an eye, its laser cannons fired. “Damn,” she muttered, glancing at the nearby officers and officials watching the screen with rapt attention.

9WgKjEc.jpg

“Captain Anderson, how long would your crew take to fire such a shot, from order to execution?” She asked a man near the back of the room. He had replaced her upon the North Sea, before this. A good man with a well-trained crew. The best in the Federation navy.

He looked down at the screen as the laser hit its target, burning its shields. “Fifteen seconds, perhaps? Ten at best.”

She shook her head and turned back to the screen as the two black frigates moved in perfect syngergy, weaving through shots as if they were fighters and firing with deadly accuracy at the five enemy ships. Missiles came pouring forth from the enemy, trailing exhaust and once again, the frigates reacted as fast as the missiles exited their bays. Point-defense flared, engines roared and the ships spun clear of the explosions, releasing a horde of swarm missiles along with a flurry of laser shots. Two enemies erupted into debris as they were overwhelmed. A minute later, the remaining two hostiles escaped the system, trailing oxygen and wreckage.

Eldrige deactivated the feed and tapped the intercom. “Excellent work, A-72, H-43. Return to Base 4 for debriefing.”

A smile broke across her face. To think that a few years ago, she had struggled against the replicants and watched Nexus disappear into a supernova. These… pilots were the heralds of a new age of space combat. “Find them better target practice than pirates, I want to see them put under stress,” she said, glancing at a nearby man in a white lab coat.

“Admiral, we have yet to fully tes the neuro-links between clone and original copy,” he replied, righting his glasses and frowning.

“You can keep their identity intact, correct?”

“Yes, ma’am,” replied the scientist after a small pause, and Eldrige grimaced. The Board seemed to have no qualms about this project, but she... She glanced back at the gathered officers as they went through the recording once more, dissecting every clinical move and precise shot executed by the two frigates. This would not go well for anyone. They were playing with forces beyond their knowledge.

“Without corruption?” She said after a pause, jerking out of her reverie.

“From what we have seen, that is correct. Their minds and full personalities will remain uncorrupted.”

“Then we can keep them there until you have it figured out. I do not want to have to wait another decade.” She would have preferred to never see it come to fruition, but that was not her choice to make anymore.

“Of course.”

“And it is with pleasure that I announce a symbolic shift in the Board’s membership demographics,” said Miranda, standing atop the podium. Her smile hid a welling bitterness and she clenched her jaw as a frown threatened to overtake her carefully crafted expression. She would not let that...man strip away what little dignity she had left. “Due to personal reasons and long-standing health issues, I will be stepping down as CEO of BP Galactic.” A flurry of flashes and murmurs spread throughout the press members assembled before her, rising like a wave until she lifted her hand sharply. “Questions will be answered after the announcement,” she said in a sharp voice. “With my retirement, we must also announce the instatement of two new companies to the board.” A holographic display flickered to life behind her, marking the seven companies currently holding a position on the board.

Dare Horizons & Co. CEO: Tony Blaze III / Human

A mother company to approximately seven-hundred and fifty two subsidiaries in and out of the Trade Federation, including Supersense Gaming.

BP Galactic CEO: Miranda Thresh / Human Sulis Farmana / Ymorian

The main mining import & export company, with a dozen subsidiaries working mining plants throughout the Federation.

Xeri & Kosh Armaments CEO: Xino’Xan Xeros / Cevelli

The producer of a majority of military equipment used within the Federation, from personal armament to ship-based railguns. A leading figure in trizendrium research and holder of said mining facilities.

McLarren & Zerosi CEO: Ynak Zerosi VIII / Zyrka & Jerome McLaggin / Human (Co-CEO)

Holder of the rights to B4-X8 and Harpie MkII production and leading expert in small-scale ship innovation & production.

Farfetch Shipping CEO: Scruff of House Scruffy / T’Jell

A shipping company with a large amount of independent freighters under contract and control of most Federal freighters, Farfetch Shipping controls the flow of trade through the Citadel on a daily basis.

Guardian Enterprises CEO: Julian Samenson / Human

The military arm of the federation. Guardian Enterprises focus primarily upon the defense of Federation soil, the protection of their space stations and national defence as a whole.

AgriPro Ltd. CEO: Glinib / Krib

The agricultural powerhouse of the Federation. Formed after the population boom of 2050, they have overtaken the market with their efficient and high quality produce.

“With the rise of AgriPro and my resignation, we find ourself facing a historic moment in Federation and human history,” she paused and looked down at the display passing by on the screen. “Perhaps unprecedented. Our nation was born decades ago from a small human colony on a terribly harsh world. From there we have spread through the stars and claimed our place in galactic history. And with this spread has come a diversity our originators could never have dreamed of. I am... proud to announce that for the first time in history, humans face a demographic minority in the ruling body of the Federation. We will not forget our roots, but we have opened ourselves to a new future. Thank you.”

She stepped of the podium quickly, her heels clacking against the metallic surface of the plaza ensconced deep within the great halls of the Citadel. Blaze walked up to her and she resisted the urge to strike him. He smiled, the wrinkles on his face pulling taut against the cybernetics embedded into his flesh. For the first time in years, she realized that he was over forty now. His hair was going grey and the youthful burn of ambition had dimmed in his remaining human eye. Now it was only cold, and greedy. “An excellent speech,” he said, shaking her hand in front of the cameras. “I’m that our people will remember your contribution  to our nation for ages to come.”

“**** you,” she whispered through her smiling façade. He had won, her days of power were gone. The Federation belonged to him.

The search to unlock the secrets of Trizendrium continues. Effort is put into adapting it into Swarm Missile technology as well as small arms. The scientists speculate about the possibility of creating purely trizendrium weaponry, and try to see if it is a possibility, basing themselves off the Trizendrium Lance that is incorporated into the TF battleship. For the rest, they continue to work on it with kinetic weapons. Mainly, small arms, flamethrowers and anti-armor guns or rounds. (11AP) (20AP invested)

With the approaching end of Evil Twin, Ruthless Monkey is once again picked back up. (15AP) (100 invested)

More defenses for the Citadel. (2AP) (22AP invested)

Two new settlements are created this year, with last years colony ships.

Several bases are created throughout the galaxy, in desolate spots, mostly within Federation space. Heavily fortified, hidden with every means possible from scans, classified and with personal that is permanently assigned to the bases and scanned every week through DNA, background, psychological tests, etc. Secure and secret in every way. (10AP)

As usual, new territories are thoroughly scanned with TAROT-M to reveal any resources. (0AP)

Mnbli, the level eight psionic krib found within the midst of the Federation in the past year is sent to the Grand Alliance Academy for training and alignment. For now, the remainining 12 psionics with above 5 potential remain at home, upon the Citadel. (1AP)

A happy Jason Woolard: An image taken during his last public appearance at the Grand Cairo Casino, 2152.

Jason Socrates Woolard—mining magnate, entrepreneur, and lead administrator for the Grand Ares colony.

Born in the Australian town of Cairns to farmers Robert and Ruth Woolard, Jason was one of five children. He attended Cairns State School where he was noted for achieving nothing but an adequate skill in football. Leaving school after his tenth year, Jason performed labour work on construction sites up and down the state of Queensland. It’s recorded that he won a steak-eating contest in the small town of Bega, but little else of this period remains recorded. His life was suddenly changed when he won an allotment of worthless land in a inebriated game of cards. After convincing a friend survey the area for him, it was discovered that his land was above an enormous deposit of uranium.

Having talked his friends, family, and a few local businesses into investing, he managed to scrounge up enough money to bribe the local council into handing him extraction rights. What remained of the investment went towards a crew of spirited individuals who would willingly dig the ground for very little money. Due to his busy schedule, he ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner in local taverns and pubs. His poor diet eventually lead to his first heart attack in 2071.

Jumping forward eight years, Jason’s now significant mining operations caught the attention of Steven Penrith who purchased Woolard & Mates(tm) in late 2079. Now controlling 88% of business interests that existed in Australia, some experts posit that Jason’s acceptance towards sale finally pushed the lagging Australian government into merging the country into Hephaestus Holdings Incorporated. If this is true or not, we may never know. After announcing the Corporate exodus in 2105, Jason was one of many VIPs invited to join the colony due to his experience in organising mining operations.

Jason would eventually be handed the itoron-world of Grand Ares to begin his mining in earnest. Today, Grand Ares’ vibrant economy and spirit stand testament to his abilities. He (in)famously constructed a manor entirely from a useless alloy of gold and itoron while recovering from his third heart transplant, and it is visible from Grand Ares Space-Port. Contained inside is the largest collection of antique Australian beer-bottles in the galaxy which he was known to take great pride in.

Nearing the end of his life, he used a portion of his vast collected wealth to finance a subsidiary that recreated classic Australian pubs and pub-related foods in order to retain the spirit of Australian drinking culture. Several small mining communities on Grand Ares now have rampant alcoholism and weight problems as a result, but are happy to keep the tradition alive.

Jason Woolard passed away on the 11th of January, 2154 at the venerable age of 104 years. He was found by his in-house medical staff with a mouthful of beer-battered chips, twelve empty beer bottles, and the remnants of a cooked chicken on his bedside. He appeared serene and was reported to be smiling.

Rest in peace, you little ripper.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

John Penrith placed his data-pad down beside himself with a heavy sigh--he would miss the revolting man, for sure. He could remember times in his youth when Jason's flatulent humour would make him laugh to the point of tears.

Though, perhaps the tears were from the smell.

Regardless, a true legend of a man had passed on today. All the Earth-born seemed to be dropping off now, and John began to wonder just how much longer his own father had before h-

"Mr Penrith," a tinny voice erupted from the intercom by the door of his quarters. "The Ka'cezh escort has arrived. Do you wish to speak to their commanders, or would you prefer me to deal with it?" John remained silent, and eased back in his chair.
"Understood, sir. I'll deal with it." Came the reply. This captain was a step-above the last one he had. Good PR.

Curiosity was getting the better of him, though. He never had an opportunity to see a Ka'cezh warship before, even when they were pouring through Hephaestus space back in the day. He was too young to appreciate such sights at time. He picked himself up from his recliner and made his way out of his cabin.

The "Grgl Gondola" was the official transport for Hephaestus VIPs. Being as the vessel had been purchased decades ago, it looked a little old fashioned and unassuming. It had been upgraded and refurbished a dozen times over the years due to CEO Steven Penrith's sentimental attachment to it. He didn't have the heart to buy a new one (or perhaps was unwilling to pay for a new one). It certainly was a tad chunkier than contemporary vessels, but it was much roomier than a warship. The lack of weaponry made John feel a little worried, however, considering the dangers they were passing through to get to the Ka'cezh Star Empire.

He stepped through his cabin door, and his four droid guards stood to attention. The simple Tithonus II models immediately began sweeping the hallway to his left and right, securing the area for his travel. Being as there were so few people on the freighter, a would-be assassin was unlikely to be among the crew. However, he couldn't be bothered changing their security settings, so who was he to complain? He walked casually to the observation room while his droids harassed a janitor into emptying his pockets.

The observation room was a large, open space at the top of the ship, decked out in luxurious fashion and surrounded by wide windows on every side. Usually set aside for diplomatic meetings, John preferred the privacy it offered to the mess-hall. He sat down in one of the classic leather armchairs, and gazed up at the warships.

Scorch marks, dents in the hull, and recently repaired plating covered the three destroyer-class ships as they positioned themselves into a defensive formation around the Grgl Gondola. The damage was hardly surprising, given the titanic war the Empire was fighting. His eyes, however, drifted towards something beyond the ships. He noticed a planet drifting in front of the local star, but this one looked unusual--he could swear he could see grid-like patterns all along its surface. As the ships delved deeper into the system, he could see that it was no planet at all. It was clearly entirely fabricated, and practically the size of Hades.

Tens of thousands of ships, civilian and military alike, sped through the installation like tiny bees in an enormous hive. The scale of the structure was inconceivable--how could the architects of this be bested by dopey cowmen? Perhaps he'd need to see the Darkul fleet in action to appreciate their capabilities in war. Passing through the outer-layer of the superstructure, the ships twisted and turned through the cavernous, megalithic grids that stretched in all directions, until they reached the centre of the super-assembly. Anchored in this place was a singular dreadnought of Ka'cezh design, which was apparently to be their destination.

After docking with the warship, John was escorted by fully-kitted Ka'cezh soldiers. They marched at a rapid pace through the warship silently. Their faces were obscured by the heavy combat suits, and John had to admit that they were fairly intimidating compared to Enforcers. He would need to talk to the High Commanders into changing their armour designs to enhance their capacity for fear. That thought could wait, however. After a long walk through seemingly endless halls, they arrived at what was clearly the Ka'cezh version of an observation deck. Large windows stared out into the vastness of the assembly orb, and some reasonable creature comforts dotted the space. There was even a bar--or whatever the Ka'cezh equivalent was. Sitting at the far end of the room obscured by shadows were three figures. They all looked towards John as he entered.

"The guest, Lord of Stars." Spoke one of the soldiers. They immediately filed out the way they came without uttering another word.

"Lights," a voice commanded. The darkness was banished by a soft, warm glow as the shadowy figures were slowly illuminated. John recognised one of them, a Da'nor, almost immediately. The second, a Protorian, he knew from pictures and reputation. The last was undoubtedly the "Sun-Dude" as Jim Bean referred to him back home. There was no way these three were here by coincidence. They wanted something from John, and therefore this was no longer charity trip--this was a negotiation. He needed to act quickly and set the tone and mood of the room toward his advantage.

"Hey hey, Haldar!" John opened his arms and strolled over to the three men casually. His rehearsed salesman laugh rang throughout the room as he approached, and a wide, friendly smile was pasted across his face. "How're you doing, mate? What are you doing all this way north? Unlocking the potential of some other poor traumatised buggers?" He bowed respectfully towards Halron, and shot finger-guns at the Archivar with an added wink. The onslaught of casual friendliness and respectful politeness seemed to leave Haldar, the Archivar, and the Star-Lord bemused, though smiling. Confused amusement was an excellent state of mind for a potential customer. With rapport established he could mould the coming deal more effectively.

"I'd have thought I'd be meeting with some corrupted folks. Didn't think I'd get an audience with so many famous blokes! What's the occasion, here to see if I can do what I claim I can? Because let me tell you--I'm only mostly sure I can do this. Never attempted it."

Haldar spoke first, breaking the mildly confused silence. "I am glad to see you are doing well. I heard you even have a wife and child now? Terraskolarian girl from the reception at the academy, hm?"

The statement caught John off-guard. He was hoping he wouldn't need to think about his young family during the trip. He quickly regained his composure, and reconstituted his smile. "Ah yeah. Fine young lady, that one. And my little Sunny's a real beaut'. Ain't no little girl cuter. But what father would say otherwise, right?"

"Point taken," Haldar agreed.

"John Penrith," the Archivar spoke, his eyes scanning the grinning salesman carefully. "Haldar Sondar here tells me you have a psionic alignment, and are very capable." They were after his services as a psionic, were they? Not unexpected, considering his skill, but now he knew for sure the parameters of the product he'd be selling. He'd follow the Archivar's train of thought for now.

"That's why I'm here, mate!" Chuckled John with a cheery wink. "Life-alignment! Ready to heal away, soon as I can find those pesky patients of mine!"

"Your patients have been placed in stasis for the time being," spoke the Lord of Stars flatly. "They are of less concern as it stands right now. The Archivar has come here with Mr. Sondar to inform me about something very essential. As it happened, you were due to arrive here."

"Conveniently." The Archivar added as he leaned forward in his chair. "What is the extent of your psionic prowess, John Penrith?"

"Well lets see," John said, placing his hands in his pockets. He looked to the ceiling in contemplation--which events sounded the most marketable?
"I've been able to heal serious burns, chemical blindness, and I even managed to reattach some poor bastard's arm back home. That was a doozey. Sliced right off by a laser-drill. Real nasty. Still, it cauterised automatically, so at least there was no blood."
"Best you can ask for, right? Ha!"

The Archivar nodded sagely and leaned back in his chair once more. "I will need your help."
John narrowed his eyes though he didn't allow smile to falter. What could the Archivar need healed, or more precisely who did he need healed?

"You ah, have a toe you lopped off? Because I'm going to be honest, I hate touching people's feet."

"No, I have all my natural and less natural parts. The reason I need you is because of something I have been planning. The pieces are almost all in place. I now just need the right..." The Archivar seemed to carefully pick his words for the next part of his statement. "...specialist for what I wish to do."

"There are more than fifteen-thousand warships waiting and ready to begin the biggest abduction operation in the history of this galaxy."
One could write a story about it.
You will have no part in that directly, but for what comes after you will be needed."

John was beginning to feel the reigns of the negotiation being pulled away from him, but the Archivar continued on without pause.

"To tell you the details, the Tassarean Republic and the Confederation of Xaplonius have positioned the majority of their fleets near an Ar'gakari invasion site. They are to completely surround it and attack simultaneously. But that is a diversion. Maybe if they manage to wipe the Ar'gakari out, it's not, but still.
That invasion site, spanning many lightyears has an Ar'gakari world ship at its center. That I have been able to confirm.
Once the Ar'gakari are busy fighting off the Tassareans and Grgl, a Protorian warfleet under my command will jump directly to it or as close as possible, and board it. I plan on kidnapping the Ar'gakari High Commander on that ship. Nothing more, nothing less.
Once we have him, we withdraw. Completely if need be."Going to an unknown location, we will begin interrogating him. That means you, Haldar, and I."

John definitely needed more details on this operation. The way the Archivar was talking, it felt as if his involvement had already been decided upon. "Er, what will my part be in the interrogation--and this is assuming I will actually join this ah, thing you're doing?"

"You will keep him alive." Not a shred of emotion played across the Archivar's face.

"Well," said John, clapping his hands together slightly unnerved. "That sounds ominous! And I don't suppose I'll be getting anything out of this?"

"It is important that we interrogate him." Said the Archivar. "Because we need to know what the Ar'gakari want here, truly. I think that is payment enough." John's eyes danced across the three sitting men, and not one of them was smiling. The negotiations had officially been concluded, it seemed.

"Well," said John with a bitter smirk. "Who doesn't want to see an Ar'gakari get tortured indefinitely? Sure, I guess I'll join. Pretty creepy, all things considered, but alright."

"Good. We leave immediately." Remarked the Archivar.

"What, right now? I'm kind of here for another reason, mate. Can't it wait a day or two?" John wasn't in the mood for travelling all the way back south after trekking for months up north. He hadn't even seen the people he was supposed to heal!

"No." This time, the Lord of Stars said. "We and especially I appreciate what you wish to try to do, but for that we have prepared the stasis for our remaining corrupted. You must go with the Archivar first."

John couldn't believe it. His trip had now officially been for absolutely nothing. He let his friendly salesman facade drop, and scoffed derisively. "Okay. Alright. Fine." He turned on his heel, and marched back towards the door grumbling in irritation. "I travel all the bloody way north..."

"So did we!" The Archivar added in a mocking tone.

______________________

The inside of the shuttle was quiet. A lone Krib looked around in the darkness as several men armed with rifles surrounded him. The Krib let out a slow sad whine like sound. He had come so far and been through so much. Driven from his homeland and then sold by the Alduu'uuraneans to the race Arcturans. He had braved weeks in an Alduu'uuranean ships hold before finally boarding the dark shuttle. A rough bumping jolted him back to his senses as the shuttle came to a stop. The door slowly opened and he was blinded by the sunlight of star known as Arcturus, ushered forward by the men behind him he slithered down the ramp as the loud noise of people overwhelmed him. As his eyes began to adjust to see clearly his senses once again returned and he found himself at the bottom of the ramp on a red carpet. The sounds echoing in the air were cheers. Looking around he saw tens of thousands of people lining the sides of the square holding signs and cheering. But cheering for what? Him??!?!

He slowly slithered forwards and peered upwards. A large banner hung between two skyscrapers reading ‘WELCOME KRIB!’ he slithered even more until he was met by President James Cuthos on the carpet.

Beckoning him to follow the Krib made a confused noise and followed up onto a large stage. President James began to speak into a microphone as the Krib slithered up next to him. “People of Arcturus! My fellow citizens!” The cheering began to quiet as he spoke. “For nearly thirty years we have been in conflict. We have fought and clawed our way to survival every day…no matter the price. Our nation has made mistakes. It has blundered. But we have made great strides. The first Humans of the original southern nations to find the Northern Galaxy, The first humans to visit another Galaxy. We have continued to push the realms of possibility despite the great hatred and disdain other nations may hold for us. With the end of this war there will surely be a new enemy on the horizon. But for kow we have finally achieved peace! With the help of the LC we have advanced as a society and will continue to do so on our own. The first major step in doing so is to welcome new faces into our nation. My fellow Arcturans. We have scoured the galaxy far and near. My friends. I give you the newest addition to our great nation. The first krib of Arcturus! JEFE!” Jefe looked around again as the massive crowd began to cheer chanting his name. James Cuthos put his arm around the Krib as cameras flashed around him. Jefe finally began to realize they were celebrating him. A normal Krib abused and sold like a common product after being driven from his home world by war.

As he thought the band began to play and what he assumed to be his new friend or master. He wasn't quite sure yet, beckoned him to follow to a nearby car. Guiding him up inside the car James sat beside him and spoke. “I promise you Jefe, we will do everything in our power to ensure your race suffers no more.” The car slowly began to move down the road with the band marching behind. Confetti thrown from the rooftops and windows of buildings fluttered down on the motorcade from above. Lightly and slowly Jefe began to smile. Were his troubles finally over?

The Han Dominion

Autumn, HSC 9

Year of the Tiger

Xin Xi’an’s winter rains were just beginning, and Shi Yimu couldn’t help but pity the wet masses in the streets as his streetcar took him towards the palace. The closer he came, the more he noticed foreign faces in the crowd: Utopian, Edonian, even a few of the Kuilei aliens. Above them all, on the giant screens which cycled through propaganda 32 hours a day, the Emperor presided. Five years ago those screens would have shown ordinary Han, performing acts of bravery and patriotism. Ineffective as they were, the Daos never sought personal glory. That was never what his father had wanted from them.

“Jie’s been busy,” came a voice from the seat next to him. Hu Yan, a senior Jinyiwei major, back on Yuguo for the first time in a decade. Yimu pulled his gaze away from the streets and eyed him suspiciously. Yan knew better than to read him...at least, he hoped so.

“I wish I could say the same for you. You were supposed to bring the Eadni back alive.”

Yan shrugged, and looked away. “He resisted.”

Yimu grimaced. Yan was too useful to punish, and his primary mission had been a resounding success. But to have his agents lying to him was new...times had changed.

The car pulled into the plaza before the great palace, and the two stepped out into the rain. As usual, the place was thronged with bureaucrats and politicians, going to their offices indoors. But it seemed more and more soldiers were present these days. That was another change, and one Yimu was even less happy about. The Emperor was a military man, and in the few years since he had taken power the navy had asserted itself nearly to the exclusion of every other interest, the Jinyiwei included. More and more, he found himself hearing of decisions secondhand.

“You’ll be happy to hear I’m not sending you off-world again, Major. At least not yet.” Yimu brushed water off his uniform as they stepped inside the dry front hall of the palace. “We picked up a fair number of psionics at the start of the year. The Emperor wants to establish an academy, and I need you there to make sure the place doesn’t turn into some kind of Triple Crescent suicide cult.”

Yan raised his eyebrows. “How many?”

“A thousand, give or take. And around the same being sent over from Utopie.”

The major said nothing, and Yimu smiled.

“Quite a change from just the six of you, isn’t it?” Some changes were good. “You’ll report to the north wing for further directions.” Yan nodded, and soon the two parted ways.

Nobody spoke to Yimu as he made his way deeper into the palace, to his headquarters at the top of the west wing. At one time he could expect to be saluted by at least three sets of Jinyiwei guards, but no more. The Emperor had taken that too, replacing the entire palace security with his own men, reporting directly to the throne. Perhaps it should have been expected. Jie had always been as smart as Yimu, and had never been particularly easy to manipulate. When he’d found the future emperor lifting rocks with his mind, Jie had volunteered for service himself, with a list of useful tasks he had already thought of. He would never be one to accept another’s advice easily.

Of course, it wasn’t as if the recent military expansion was all bad: Yimu had never been particularly happy relying on others for defense. But it wasn’t brute force which had brought the Dominion where it was now, and it wouldn’t be brute force which would keep it there.

A final elevator deposited Yimu at Jinyiwei headquarters, and he soon found himself in his office, staring out the window. He spent a disturbing amount of time this way these days. If his underlings didn’t constantly interrupt him, he supposed he’d never get any work done.

“Sir?”

Speak of the devil.

Of all the original six who Chaal had contacted years ago, Xuan Chan had kept the lowest profile. She was the second-youngest, but shorter than the princess and with more severe features. More importantly, while the others had all developed their own ambitions eventually, she had always been content as an agent. His agent.

“His Majesty is sending the new colonists west. I was just in the meeting when the decision was made.”

“Wha- But the Ar’gakari are cleared out. If he wants to sign our core space over to Maltese settlers, that’s the way to go about it.” Yimu grimaced. “How many times did he use the word ‘frontier?’”

“Almost as many times as ‘boldly,’ sir. I guess empty space appeals to him.”

Yimu took a seat at his desk, lips pursed. He adjusted his glasses. “One can only hope it isn’t entirely empty.” He looked up. “Do you have something else for me?”

Chan smiled, and withdrew a datapad from behind her back. “I took a trip down to Medical yesterday. They’d locked us out, just like you thought. No one in the agency has access to records for anyone in the civil service above the undersecretary level.”

“Luckily, the doctors down there couldn’t keep a secret to save their lives.” She laid the pad down on the desk. “We’re in the system, now. I’ve already set it to route the reports through you in the case of...certain individuals.” She took a step back, looking rather proud of herself.

Yimu flipped through several of the aforementioned reports, and raised a brow. “Well done, Chan. Please do keep me informed on those meetings.”

The woman smiled and departed. On a normal day, Yimu might have been angry about being sidelined from the imperial council. But the medical report which had just reached him took his mind off it immediately:

SUBJECT: H.M. HUANG JIE

Physical Exam, 3/10/9

The emperor was healthy, for the most part. But as Yimu scanned the results, something at last caught his eye.

MALIGNANT ABNORMALITIES IDENTIFIED

ii. Status: Stage I, OPERABLE

The High Inspector’s heart began to beat faster, something it didn’t do much of these days. Chan was good at her job: the report wouldn’t enter the palace hospital’s records until he passed it on.  Yimu leaned back in his chair, and looked outside once again. Several dropships flew by, and he remembered the last time he spoke to his father. An ignominious victory, he had said, is better than a glorious defeat.

He wasn’t quite sure how long it took him to make a decision. But soon enough he was back at work, and the report had entered the primary medical database, identical except for one section.

Another year, (a mere season on Yuguo), another batch of production sails into the space above Beijing Stronghold. Where once a mere destroyer was a rare sight, Yuguo’s orbit is thronged with cruisers and battleships, each ready to sail at a moment’s notice. Chinese remains the standard language of the Emperor’s fleet, but as per the constitution of the new empire all citizens are eligible to serve, and Utopian sailors are not uncommon on these new warships. Perhaps they simply want to make sure their taxes are being put to good use.

The western frontier continues to be settled with ship after ship of Han colonists. As the new colonies are only accessible via quantum jump across Ganvius territory, travel is limited. As such, the government on Yuguo establishes the Western Authority to govern the new acquisitions. Based on a planet now christened Hanguo, this regional division will oversee the orderly expansion of the Dominion into unexplored space, and arrange for efficient exploitation of its resources.

Well over two thousand psionics gather in Shaanxi system of widely varying strengths, both from Yuguo and from the Frontier Colony Affiliation. The Emperor commands that they codify their knowledge of the psionic arts, and soon the Han-built facilities surrounding Laandaalir Triat are repurposed. Hu Yan is given temporary leave from the Jinyiwei to lead the effort, and he soon sets about establishing tentative class structure and watching for students which prove themselves. It is expected that the most capable individuals found here will not move on to service elsewhere, but will instead form the first generation of permanent faculty.

Hanying stays in her old room in the Protorian capitol building, and contents herself browsing the archive.

The Imperial navy continues its expansion, with another batch of 6 corvettes, 3 frigates, 6 destroyers, 2 light cruisers, 2 heavy cruisers, and a battleship on order. [60 AP]

Two more destroyer yards are built. [12 AP]

Psionics from across the Dominion and the FCA are brought to the capital, where they form the first class of the fledgling Imperial Psionic Academy. In time, a standard four-year program is to be developed using the best as professors, but for now there is a great deal of learning from peers. The Emperor extends a personal invitation to any Kuilei masters seeking off-world opportunities to serve as instructors, given their long history with the psionic arts. [2 AP]

Aleksander Wòjcik sits at his desk filing paperwork before being interrupted by his vice president. “Good evening Mr. Prezydent.” Aleksander looks up from his paperwork and smiles at the lumbering man. “What bring you to my office on this fine day Damian?” Damian took a seat and began to speak.“I’ll be straight with you Aleksander. We need to improve our agriculture, without more food we’ll have some issues growing our wonderful republic.” Aleksander nods and immediately turns to his computer, typing something out that Damian cannot seem to see. Within a few days the construction of more farms and orchards would begin.  “It’ll begin in a few days. Is there anything else you needed?” Damian would shake his head no and walk out of the room lightly closing the door. This left Aleksander with a thought to also invest in business, that’d take more people off of the streets. He went back to his computer and wrote another letter. Within another few days plans would be made to expand the business on our capital world.

Aleksander was looking out onto the streets of Warszawa prime from his office window a few weeks later, when a Admiral walked into the room giving a crisp salute but he had a packet with him. “Mr. Prezydent, how goes your afternoon?” Aleksander turned and saluted the man back looking at the packet before answering his question It goes well Kubicki. What is it you require?” Aleksander walked over to his desk and offered the Admiral a seat. “Our fleet needs to be more equipped for combat. In our current state anyone could walk in and basically own the damn place." Kubicki put the packet on the desk and looked at Aleksander. “These are what would improve our overall readiness in the event of a attack, it’s not a lot but it’ll do.” Aleksander looks over the list and begins to nod “I cannot promise everything on here but I can surely try. "Is there anything else you need to Admiral?" The Admiral answers back quickly “No sir. It’s best if I return to the fleet.” Kubicki stands up and salutes Aleksander before walking out of the room.

The Sanctum Regnum Melitae

Anno Domini MMCLIV

dJDO2ED.png

"Let God's work be done, fellows of Man."

Francis Joseph von Habsburg had never been accused of great ingenuity. He had never been accused of great personal strength, nor of making the galaxy tremble.

The Han, with their espionage and their tactics and their maneuvering, were certainly more clever than he. The Edonians, for all their faults of mind, fought ardently and for their cause till death. The Eadni were hated, to be sure, but even Elder Races would have been uncertain of battles on equal footing.

No, the Sanctum Regnum was famed for something else entirely. It was famed for rumors of collapse, for rumors of sin, for rumors of blind subservience to a false god and false overlords.

But rumors were just that. Franz had never felt the need to quell them, for it were the rumors that allowed it room to grow, room to position itself, room to empower itself. Its citizens had long been aware of its stances on the rights of man, of the gentle blade of its Re. Its peoples knew of the Inquisitions, of the pseudo-squadristi, of the quantum cameras that followed every movement inside and within a hundred miles of the House. Of the rapid, continuous expansion and willingness to drop pretenses in a moment to claim what its ruler of Men wished.

Its people knew that the latest colonies, the most launched in a year yet, were sent there to spite the Han.

wSbYQR2.png

(Colonies since last Map Update. Gold Filled is CS, unfilled is TC. 5 Colonies, 10 new TC {3 TC covered by new CS})

Its people knew, too, that there was no malevolence in the letters that followed, to the galaxy, to its myriad empires. To the Council upon which Francis sat. That its contents were, in the words of Hephaestus, business.

"The Keerim deserve to die. The Sanctum Regnum votes no on peace, and recommends Datrax press the attack in full."

The two sentences sent were, perhaps, half-ceremonial. Surely, the various Princeps and Dictators thought, he believes the Council will vote yes on peace. After all, the vote of the Maltese populates one of ten. The next action of the Maltese, however, does not reinforce the notion.

The Sanctum Regnum Classis is reinforced by the construction of new ships. Enough to fully replace those lost the year previous, and more.

The Ar'gakari suffered a disastrous defeat in Han space, and had lost continuously since then. Their Titan, though, would prove a formidable weapon against the far more numerous nations that did not sport such numerous and powerful mega cannons as Humanity. The massive Ar'gakari ship, into which millions of LCC has been spent repairing, orbits above Rhodium, continuing its repairs. [5 AP, 25 Total]

And the mega cannons of the Maltese continue to grow in power. The MD Device, so recently upgraded, receives another boost. Its researchers say the funds will be enough to push it past another milestone, will melt Keerim warfleets like butter. Its detractors watch in dread as the testing of the dreadnought Gran Italia's new MD Device on an uninhabited planet is commissioned for the galaxy to see. [40 AP, 250 Total, 290 in Disruptors Total]

On offer to any nonhuman nations not named the Keerim or Darkul goes Project Sicily [T3 Basic Disruptor] weaponry, for resources or LCC equivalent to [75 AP]. Overengineered, says immediate critics from Hephaestus and other weapons-salesmen. Deadly, says the Maltese. Also on sale goes Almawt [T3 Basic Kinetic] weaponry, of the type engineered by the Maltese and Eadni together, for the price of [70 AP]. Many are outraged by Franz' attempts at a "quick buck". His accountant is not.

Not all money goes into the fleet, though. At least, not directly. The Maltese Academy system initiates the hire of as many talented veteran captains and pilots as possible from the Redons or from the Protorians, from the Ganvius or the southward-fleeing Ymorians, even from surviving Kalronians and retiring Ka'cezh, to become professors at the Rhodium Military Academy. To train new pilot cadets, to train new captains, to train new crews. To keep the education of the Regnum at the galaxy's cutting edge. [5 AP, 38 Total]

Years after the first expedition, another party is sent to the replicant "colony" within Maltese space. At the same time, the Gray Man disappears. [MOD]

“It is… quite the construct. Is it not?” A mist of white emitted from the gaps in the Overseer’s mask as his head tilted absently upwards at the structure. Although his overall complexion was covered by the mask over his face, a sense of wonder emitted from him as his head tilted and turned to inspect the work that went into the building. “Were you able to find the builder of this? Or find its purpose?” The Overseer turned his head to the man beside him, a minister of internal affairs. “We have, Overseer. A man by the name of Bloxi had created it, along with a team of other architects, to… commend the first Overseer and those to follow. He said it was to depict the faceless duties each may uphold while keeping the balance of their own mind and the people in the same.”

The Overseer’s attention had already shifted back to the statue. A brief pause of movement came over him as the final words of the Minister were said before he nodded singularity. “Thank you for showing me this Minister Adams. Provide a statement to Bloxi to request a permit to construct something of this before doing so. Otherwise, it is an immaculate display of gratitude to the Overseers.” The Minister nodded as well in return, “Of course, Overseer. I’ll be sure to address you if anything else is to arise.” With that, the two parted ways on the docks of Tarnan, the Overseer being quickly joined by a detail of guards around him for an escort.

“RSSK Unitas, shipping vessel, serial Oskar-Whiskey-Charlie, approaching Oblique Station, requesting docking.” A faint click, followed by a shroud of static, emitted from the speaker in the cockpit of the shipping vessel as it began its approach to the station above York III. A few moments passed before a reply came back through, “Permission granted Unitas, proceed on current heading to loading bay Zero-Three-Two and await for cargo retrieval.” A second, and final, click came in reply to the ships request, before the line went silent and the static faded. A faint tune of western country emitted through the cockpit of the vessel as its crew prepared the final checks for docking.

A mechanical hiss sounded as the pressure was relieved on the cargo containers the vessel had been transporting. A loading ship soon came by to drag the several hundred tonnes of minerals on board the station. An impressive load for the evening, to say the least. A mere singular run from the newest line of freighters and it had already out-hauled the previous class of freighters the Republic had been using. It was clear that the needs of industry were beginning to be sated in the forms of development and construction. Now with two new freighters in use, the republic was able to transport goods faster than ever. The use of these vessels was soon enough to be tested by both the military, and industry.

2LS9F8rFhgkGGBsC14crmEZY279XIdY2rtznmwLTwzeoKB8OWMCrHI2w1cV0u_W716dUX59g0JoQmvueGWJE5YqOATh6BkN2odYImqGUI9c2j_nP8xVNogEzayBWOLzz1SMJTr-R

A crunch of sticks and stones emitted through the empty valley as the survey team landed on their likeliest prospect for a future colony. “O’Two levels, Sammy?” A frail woman hopped from the transport vessel, an oxygen meter in her hands, “Optimal. Not too unlike York.” She replied to the survey lead, who took point on the journey. “Alright. Bring them out. See what they can find.” He called back as he made way down the valley. A rifle was strapped against his chest, experience pays more than regulations or textbooks do. The last encounter on a planet nearly crippled a crew member, regulations couldn’t plan for that.

The faint buzz of a pair of survey drones hummed behind the leader as he looked across the walls of the valley. “Three-seven, give me a reading on the air. Anything we shouldn’t be breathing?” A faint beep emitted from the drone before a mechanical response came, “Negative, Lead Surveyor Matthews, sulphur and carbon monoxide levels are nominal. Chlorine detected, though faint. Probable cause: nearby chlorine deposit.” A sigh came from the man before he reached towards his mask and withdrew it from his face. He took in a deep breath and grimaced, “Eugh. Like a swimming pool.” A chirpy beep came from the second survey drone which was inspecting a nearby patch of plant life. Matthews took a few cautious steps over before peeking at what the drone had scanned. A singular lizard, by no means exotic, though still a sign of biological life. “Alright, send it in. Keep looking for anything of use.”

Kyber Kore

Wilson DeMont looked out from his office HQ towards the Trizendaium mining operations that were begin to expand each and every week. The bright orange crystals proved to be challenging for him as they had cost him more than a dozen mining droids and miners. Yet, he had enjoyed it and the properties that it possessed.

How volatile the substance inside it was, the fiery it produced when set off. But those did not compare to the beauty he saw in the explosions. He marveled in the flames at and the destruction it caused.

The building shook from a recent explosion that broke his gaze, he smiled a bit because he knew what had caused the explosion. He rushed down to his office to meet a crew that was constructed for the soul purpose of responding to these and helping potential casualties.

A burly man with a deep red beard stood there waiting for Wilson’s arrival. He shook his head and step aside swinging the door open to their armored civilian disguised car. “Ready sir? This is a report that it is the biggest one yet. Three dead, and eight more wounded.” He looked back through his driver window.

Wilson nodded, holding back his smile as the screen rolled up. He let it go, as his excitement was beginning to overtake him.

Back on the Viyter, a new announcement is launched from Johnny’s office.

“It is a sad day for many any my office and I, as I have to announce the retirement of Saelaesh. The Head of our foreign relations department and someone who has helped lead our nation to a better future. She helped establish our psionic branch in the military and has healed many throughout her life spent within our borders. She will be moving to a new chapter in her life. Which we have agreed to keep between ourselves. I wish to thank her, as we all should. We will now be led by a promising and bright Da’nor in our diplomatic relations. Drexon will continue to do a fantastic job for us and build off the success that Saelaesh had started.

Andorra La Nova : War Room

“C’mon man, give me anything! I’ll do anything!”

“A no is a no, Fernanado. It’s not going to happen.”

“But you are wasting my potential. Such a waste of talent is truly a hallmark of poor decision making skills. Poor leadership skills.”

“And such an appetite for glory is truly a hallmark of self-centeredness and pride. Sounds like poor advising skills, don’t you think so advisor of defense?”

“Whatever! You’re not the boss of me.” Fernando crossed his arms and scowled.

“Well actua-”

“I mean, what’s the point of having a navy if you aren’t going to use it? Huh? Being dead weight on the treasury?”

“Oh, our navy is so small its upkeep hardly scratches the surface of our wealth, you know that.”

“BUT WHY?” Fernando paused, looked José in the eyes and stated, “IT. COULD. BE. BIGGER.”

“But we don’t need any more ships. We are so badly ignored by every galactic power that no one even bothers attacking us.”

“But we genuinely could have more without significant upkeep costs. A good deal more, I did a little math and we can almost double our current fleet’s power without too many costs.”

“But the money that we make the ships in the first place with would be better spent on the economy.”

“But think about it, in a way we are spending it on the economy. We are preventing economic devastation as a result of outside forces. You know those Darkul are feisty guys.”

“Fine, but these ships better stay in their hangars until we actually need them. I better not be receiving accident reports any time soon!”

“GAWSH, you’re no fun. I’m gonna get Pablo or Isabella to authorize an invasion, and you can’t stop me!” Fernando promptly leaped out of his chair and ran away to find a victim for his superior intellect.

“LAY OFF THE COFFEE!”

The Silver Knights Corporation

2154

---

A vast amount of resources are sent to the Solarin Ascendancy in order to fund the construction of a whopping eight light cruisers. This will help bolster a somewhat underserved Armathawaite fleet which has suffered losses in various conflicts over the last half decade [40 AP to Tyras for the construction of 8 Light Cruisers].

The Kingdom also sees fit to invest more directly into the business side of things, bolstering the corporate arms of the Kingdom and strengthening the Bank of Armathawaite's critical infrastructure. Various small businesses and large corporations also receive new government contracts to develop new products for the galactic markets [40 AP into business].

Chapter I: The Great Wars (Ended)

Chapter II: Old Shadows (Ended)

Chapter III - N’Fe a Te

A Future Imperfect

Elysian League

The colony ship is constructed without issue with many eager souls ready to conquer new land for the Republic.

Another year, another round of faceless conscription. Twenty-five thousand of the Republic’s sons are drafted into the ranks of the Auxiliary and prepared to be deployed to the nearest battlefront.

The carrier along with its complement of frigates and destroyers are completed by year’s end. With the construction of a fleet for the Elysian Republic, its citizens recognize the beginning of a new era - war had finally arrived at the Republic’s doorstep. More death

Elysian business grows with new complexes being erected on their planetary systems. [+4 AP]

Elysian Projects and Diplomacy. [Skype]

Star Republic of Edonia

As war moves further away from the borders of the Edonian Republic, its people slowly become more comfortable in more… domestic… affairs. As such, the agricultural subsidies voted through the Edonian government prove more than adequate as several former soldiers turn to a life of farming on Feldspar and Aldebaran. After a long fight, it was time for those men to have peace [4 AP]

The Edonian School of Battle receives a host of new students this year after word spreads of the human soldier’s valor. Students arrive from some LC nations and the Backhatta while some Ymorian refugees apply as well. Aside from these new students though, foreign teachers do not come to the school. Given the state of war that most nations are in, talented officers are needed elsewhere.

The Keerim do not take interest in the Edonian mercenaries. Despite their massive engagement, a mere 30,000 soldiers would do them no good. It is like a raindrop in an ocean to them, men they would lose in a matter of minutes to the coming threat.

A small group of Ymorians arrives in Edonian space, however; Edonian space proves unattractive to most Ymorians given its distance from their former nationstate [20,000 Ymorians arrive].

Roughly 13,500 of the veterans make it through the first round of training and are ready to advance through to the Shock Trooper training proper. The courses prove incredibly rigorous as only the best of the best make it through.

Asgard Republic

The Redon, having no reason to deny the Asgarder request to send the science ship through its core territories en route to its mission, allows the Asgardians safe passage through the Imperium’s territory.

The shipyard is finished in time for the new year. Her workforce increases along with it to produce ships in the interest of the republic.

The Asgardians continue to make progress on the former THC project with a promising team of scientists leading the charge on Vanaheim. The team hopes to see the project move into the prototyping phase in the next year or two.

The Saryn appreciate the notification of the discovery provided to them by the Asgarders, offering to send a team to restore the facility to its original operational status.

Thulean Republic

With the addition of new ships to the Thulean fleet, the people of Phenicle and beyond begin to feel a twinge of confidence not felt since their days of freedom before the arrival of the Redon. Kolran Montesquieu’s approval ratings are steadily rising from their lowest of lows and he seems to have some grasp on the soul of the people once again.

To add to the prosperity of the Republic, Thulean business continues to blossom as Redon and other Imperial assets continue to flow freely into Thulean ports. Many businesses are opened up and unemployment is steadily on the decline across Thulean sectors [4 AP].

Solar Ascendancy

After decades of investment into infrastructure and business, the population of Terra continues to thrive. A beautiful world with a climate similar to that of Earth, Terra proves to be a remarkable beacon of humanity in an otherwise turbulent galaxy. Its citizens continue to take pride in their nation though with ever increasing prosperity comes some agitation for more liberty. These voices are quiet for now though, hushed whispers in the back alleys of the capitol [+3 AP].

By the end of the first year, 1,300 soldiers are eliminated from the program. About two dozen actually perish from the program’s physical rigors while the rest merely drop out. It is clear that by the end of this program some truly remarkable warriors will come about but at what cost?

Project Sol.

Agerian Commonwealth

Work continues on the Mark II as the research team develops the first proper prototype by the end of 2154. The prototype is capable of generating a basic disruptor ahead of it, but if the Agerians wish to develop something more powerful, work will need to continue.

Cadia, the third colony tamed by the former Imperium of Man, sees a near instantaneous transformation from a backwater to a truly remarkable hub of technology and business. Several Redon corporations that were considering a move to the Commonwealth decide to establish their headquarters in Cadia while native corporations expand their operations to the state. It appears that the investment made by the Commonwealth is paying off. (+8 AP)

Trade Federation

Trizendrium: An incredibly volatile substance with tremendous destructive potential. Yet another human nation begins to grasp at its strength with Federation researchers developing the first Trizendrium rounds by years end. Shotguns, rifles, and machine guns may all now utilize the fiery matter. Larger weapons are a ways off, for now, but breakthroughs continue to be made.

The Citadel has become a rather imposing structure in a western galaxy that has quickly grown from a desolate sector to a rather busy cross-section of galactic powers. At the center lies the Citadel. As such, it is no surprise when the Federation announces a new wave of defense investments. It would be necessary, surely.

The bases are established, but for what purpose?

The monkey climbs a tree.

Mnbli makes it safely to the Grand Alliance Academy, grateful to his Federation patrons for providing him with the money to pay for his education.

TAROT-M detects an Itoron deposit on one of the Federation’s newly settled territories.

Hephaestus

Thick, hefty, lovely product pours from the new and improved Hephaestus factories. These products are then sold by the corporation’s whose tendrils slowly envelop human and alien nations alike in their grasp all in the name of profit [+6 AP].

The Hemera Reactor continues to be developed in the cramped laboratories on the surface of Hades. It does not see any remarkable breakthroughs, but progress is made all the same.

Hustle, bustle, and more trading muscle. The Hades Tradeport expands once again, becoming the greatest structure of its kind in the south [More Trading Partners].

After a period of declining profits and some contemplation of layoffs, the Military Industrial sector rejoices with the fresh contracts from the bosses on Hades. The requested ships are made with great haste and deployed to the corporate fleet by the end of the year.

Ravenous capitalism is carried on to more distant stars.

United States of Arcturus

Arcturian Defense Solutions begins to establish itself beyond the borders of the United States with its first corporate offices opening on New Plymouth Rock by the end of 2154. [+4 AP].

The United States of Arcturus acquies perhaps one of the most valuable resources in the galaxy, Dakite.

A Krib arrives… to thunderous applause. He is rather amazed by the outpouring of respect he receives and even more grateful upon being shown his new home.

400,000 names. 400,000 stories. 400,000 dead. The Keerim War brought devastation to the United States not seen since the Second World War on a now dead Earth. Upon the memorial’s completion, a long moment of silence is observed across the worlds of the United States. For a brief moment, all of Arcturus’s people reflect on the great cost of war. They remember now and they shall never forget.

Dakite earns a tremendous amount of profit [you get 8 AP a turn from it].

The Han Dominion

An empire on the warpath. Twenty new ships join the fleet of the Celestial Empire this year from the battle tested forge known as Beijing Stronghold. These ships are quickly outfitted with crews from the Empire’s client states and beyond, enlisting the best and brightest to their cause.

A pair of destroyer yards a built to allow the empire to continue its fleet expansion for years to come.

A group of three Kuilei masters join the Imperial Psionic Academy and work closely with its Dean and President to help develop a strong curriculum for the Academy’s first class and beyond [Skype].

REDACTED.

The Han Dominion, core state of the Celestial Empire, continues to grow along their frontier without intervention from the Ganvius. One of the new territories appears to be rather rich in Xylorite.

The Grand Polish Republic

Agricultural subsidies on Warszawa Prime go a long way in helping the struggling farming sector on the Polish Republic’s capital. If investment continues, the nation’s population could see some serious growth.

At the same time, growth continues in the planet’s more urban territories as business subsidies allow for some businesses to expand off-world or at the very least into orbit.

The Navy of the Republic grows with 8 new ships joining the fleet by the end of 2154. Relatively green, the fleet requires certainly requires some training.

Republic Star State of Kanata

The industrial sector of York III proves to be one of the most productive systems of its kind, far more productive than any Edonian counterpart to be sure [+2 AP].

No resources are discovered by the probes this year. A couple of habitable planets, however, are found. They prove promising candidates for future expansion.

Ymorian Refugees arrive sparingly, a mere 10,000 arrive by year’s end.

No nations hire the Kanatian mercenaries just as no nations wanted to hire the Edonian mercenaries.

The Sanctum Regnum Melitae

The Maltese claim new territory perhaps to the dismay of some of its neighbors.

The Sanctum Regnum Classis is reinforced with 7 Ships and a complement of strike craft joining a fleet requiring new muscle after defeat at the hands of the Keerim earlier in the decade.

The LCC finally appears to finally have been worth it. By the end of 2154, the former Ar’gakari Titan proves operable by the Maltese fleet. Heavily modified and requiring a near complete retrofit, the Titan proves formidable but not unbeatable. Much of the Ar’gakari tech needed to be abandoned as it proved both too advanced to operate and, in most cases, far too damaged to utilize. Now, it operates much like a regular Maltese ship with Maltese armaments primarily.

The MD Device utterly devastates the barren world, showcasing its raw strength yet again for the galactic community. Most detractors do not though that, unlike the enemy, the world has no weapons or shields of their own to fight back.

Most of these weapons, though advanced by Human standards, are relatively primitive compared to those employed by the nations of the galactic community. Thusly, they are not purchased by.. well… anyone.

Rhodium’s Military Academy manages to attract some talented officers from Ymorian refugees and a few from Protorian systems as well. How valuable this will prove is yet to be seen.

[Skype for Gray Man]

Kyber Kore

The Cybernetics are built and with an offer to war veterans desperate to lead a full life, purchases come in substantially from all over the southern galaxy. (5+ AP this turn.)

Immortality. A gift pursued by man for thousands of years. The Fountain of Youth, the power of the Gods. Now, Kyber Kore tried to grasp at it. And they seemed like the could achieve it through the power of machine. Rapid successes are made in the field of expanding lifespans as the line between man and machine continues to blur.

The DeMont Family Institute is established at the beginning of 2155.

A few more Da’Nor and Human-Da’Nor psionics are recruited into the Psionic Division of Kyber core. How powerful they are remains to be seen [Skype Czar].

Trizendum research begins in earnest. It is successfully transferred to DeMont by the time that facility opens.

EVE [Skype].

The Andoran fleet expands, growing by a mighty four ships! Those ships prove useful in providing aid to refugee ships as they are ferried into Andoran space and quickly receive funding for settlement by the government. Much of this appreciated.

The eight cruisers leave the shipyard in a spectacular fashion, they arrive in Armawaithe space safe and sound.

The empire’s purse is fat.

The Thulean’s receive their aid.

Events

The Chupan'mo have withdrawn from Sculptor following their mass extinction to this new threat that has recently arrived in the South-East of the galaxy. The Keerim have engaged fully in combat and already lost millions of soldiers to this incursion.

The Black fleet has successfully destroyed the Ar'gakari presence south the Lithruan Coalition.

The war in the North between the Darkul and Ka'cezh goes stale, forces being grinded against eachother without any notable gains or losses in territory.

A breather for many. The Ganvius have successfully taken control of Kalronian space now, disabled the automated defenses and are in full process of aiding the decimated Kalronian people.

Thulean Republic

With the unconditional surrender of the Ymorian Unity Council, vast numbers of refugees had fled south, particularly to the Redon Imperium. The Redon had requested of Thule, as well as Asgard, to assist with dealing with this wave by taking on 200,000 Ymorians, to which Thule happily agreed. For now the Ymorians are housed in temporary housing while the government produces a colony ship and a new planet colonised for the Ymorians. The Redon is consulted in advance for permission to the colony location, and the new claims made with it.

Spoiler

99d6650a94510c7cfcfddbb7f62ec794.png

Furthermore, Thule does a census on the refugees to try and find if any scientists, engineers etc are present among the population Thule took on.

Meanwhile, the investment into business and the supporting infrastructure on Belenos continues, as already the investments were netting huge returns for the Republic.

The remilitarisation continues, this year with a focus on screen ships. A great deal of the vessels are constructed at the once again active Svarog station, and the sailors recruited and trained with them. These vessels, as well as current ones, would be given a steel-itoron hull armour in order to improve their structural integrity, using itoron from the newly discovered deposit on the recently colonised planet of Porte en Platine.

The Thuleans, looking for a new technological direction in which they could pursue the attainment of an edge, begin research into new forms of ship propulsion in order to improve sub-stellar and combat speed and maneuverability. Frequently it had been the case that alien ships had managed to outpace those of the Thuleans, either in pursuit or being pursued, and so the need had been aptly demonstrated. For now, this consists of producing a new form of fusion drive, one with greater thrust output and efficiency, in order to improve the speed and agility of Thulean military vessels. The Redon's government is consulted for approval and advice.

In a similar vein of military technological advancement, the Republic petitions the Redon for an advanced fighter production license. The current fighter pattern of the Republican Navy is basic in every way, and thus any generation of the Redon’s own fighters would be appreciated, cutting edge or otherwise.

Star Republic of Edonia

General Activity:

For years Edonia had placed itself in a position to help its neighbors against those who would seek to destroy peace loving people. With the wars in the south winding down that were close to home, the people yearn for relaxation and recovery. The industry on Feldspar had grown, the nation’s agriculture had peaked with food being pumped off world daily to the rest of her allies. It’s propaganda was slowly being painted over and ripped from the walls, memorials and museums now being constructed to honor the 64,000 that passed in the many wars.

Edonian ships and soldiers were returning daily from multiple deployments all over the galaxy, the people were frenzied and festivities were held in every place possible. A great deal of food was provided by the new farms built by the people for the people. The troops were supported thoroughly on their return, jobs were abundant with the need for more farmers and with the business infrastructure opened through Edonia multiple new shops opened.

Though this was overshadowed by grim news from Leopoldo, the people of Edonia have a few more years of fighting until they can put down their weapons. The army and navy was put at full alert with plans being drawn up, it was only a matter of time before something would arrive to the east of their Kanatan brothers.
