Chapter I: The Great Wars (Ended)

Chapter II: Old Shadows (Ended)

Chapter III - N’Fe a Te

A Future Imperfect

Thulean Republic

The construction of Battlefleet Solaire continues in 2155 with the entirety of the order coming to completion and resting in orbit by the middle of the year. After the Navy’s order has been completed, a massive colony ship enters production and is completed at the turn of the new year. A few corporations agitate for rights to the mineral riches of whatever star the ship will eventually arrive at while Thulean citizens line up for a chance to make a new life for themselves on the frontier.

A couple of Ymorian scientists register themselves with universities and private contracts, but none have any groundbreaking innovations for the Thuleans, at least not at the moment. There’s likely more in Thulean space, but they are far to weary from war to want to get back to their old business for now.

Belenos receives the subsidies necessary to spur new private investments on the colony. Several established Thulean companies begin to build headquarters on the planet under new incentives and a few small Redon business open up as well [+4 AP].

The Redon Imperium transmits the schematics and details to the Redon fighter-of-the-line, used in atmospheric and space combat. Additionally they request the production of 5,000 units from the Thulean Republic. The model is call Rakxar Mk. III, single-phased shields, Itoron plating, quad barreled laser guns, cluster missiles and two heavy breaker bombs are the armament of it. The weapons are of Redon design too and included.

Star Republic of Edonia

Frostbrand, Irontoad, and Seidmeyer receive their agricultural stimulus from the capital, gratefully accepting the new funds and expanding operations there [+6 AP].

The Edonian veterans arrive on the capital world of the struggling Republic to find an exhausted force of conscripts and volunteers most of whom have yet to see combat. Any veterans they’d come across would be in terrible condition, wounded from the war. What they offer is mostly stories of the horrors of facing the Darkul on planets obliterated by nuclear hellfire.

Donations and the 13,000 veterans arrive for their purpose on the Han planet.

By the end of 2154, the Ymorians had stopped arriving. Those who did come appreciated the protection and settled in rather nicely on some of the less populous worlds of the Republic.

The corvettes arrive in the east, scanners primed… and contact is lost a few days after. After weeks some rumors go that two Edonian ships were ambushed by Ar’gakari vessels and subsequently destroyed.

Republic Star State of Kanata

Infantry and ground based weaponry continue to be improved and given their relatively primitive status compared to non-Human forces, these upgrades are certainly necessary.

York III is now sprawling in factory complexes of various industrial conglomerates, a true testament to the might of Kanata’s output capabilities [+2 AP].

Like the Edonians, the Kanatians are directed to the Elysian capital where they find some 25,000 Elysian men and an incredible amount of droids and mechs. They are informed that they will soon deploy alongside the Ka’Cezh wherever they are required to go.

No more Ymorians arrive in 2155, those who have arrived have mostly taken up on Goderich II and Kingston IV after their initial stay on York III, a far too industrial world for most of their tastes.

The Ganvius receive the message [Skype].

The Grand Polish Republic

Aleksander’s judgement of a need for market expansion is a prudent one. By the end of the year, Warszawa is abuzz with dozens of new high rises popping up as corporations continue to expand their space [5 AP more to +4 AP]

Given that Dialite is already the standard for their reactors, they look into sizing it down for the most part, to make it a usable transportable energy cell. They are in the early concept stages of sizing down the familiar Dialite energy exchange process.

The Elysian League

The funds arrive in the corporate states soon followed by the arrival of freighters containing the goods - nearly 100,000 Hephaestus Tithonius II droids and thousands of various Silver Knight mech models. They will certainly aid the small Republican military in its wars to come.

The small detachment of ships are pumped out of the Elysian shipyards relatively quickly and move to join the rest of the Elysian fleet on assignment in the frontier.

On the topic of the frontier, a new world is settled to the galactic North-West, well away from the war in the East. This world receives a larger contingent of Elysian settlers than normal considering many civilians, especially recent Ymorian arrivals, want to get as far away from the conflict as possible [+1 Colony].

Artificial Intelligences are dangerous but insightful. (Skype)

Solar Ascendancy

Delegates from New Siam and the Slavic Federation arrive secretly on Terra to discuss whatever it is that Nira feels necessary to discuss. The Slavic attendants prove rather rowdy, taking full advantage of the Terran nightlife, with the Siamese ambassador and his companions prefer quiet and cultural tourism. Later they leave, with knowledge attained and decisions being taken.

The Black Agents are found quickly and apprehended.

Silver Knight Shipyards produces the full order on behalf of the Solarins with the ships arriving in Solarin space with some haste.

17,000 men enter round II of the Solar Knight initiative, 14,500 make it out of the second round with steely determination ready to face whatever horrors are necessary in the next round.

The Pack Hunter Mech enters development this year, seeing some progress but there is a significant need for funding. A partnership with the Silver Knights helps, but to be of any real use against a well-armed enemy, more funding would be necessary.

Andorra receives the aid for EVE.

Hephaestus Enterprises

Hades shipyard, long due for the upgrade, receives them with some resistance. The old systems require quite the upgrade and, especially with the beautification mandated by Immutable Cube, take some time to complete. A few Grgl living on Hades occasional look up at the shipyard, chortle, and slink along on their way. Modern art indeed.

The engineers were right, there were some results this year… but not that much. Hemera is proving to be quite the undertaking, a worthwhile one to be sure, but an expensive one nonetheless.

Thee small fleet of colonial freighters is deployed, plunging into the depths of Hephaestus’ territorial claims. Citizens from all over corporate space rush to get a job working with whatever subsidiary happens to sponsor these freighters in hopes of landing a position on the new planets.

Industrial… expansion. Exhausting [+2 AP].

Lucky for Hephaestus, a few Ymorians prove to be quite capable with advanced reactors similar to what HERMES agents might be looking for if they project is recruiting. Should they be recruited, the corporation would see a small boon [+10 AP toward Hemera].

Aurora is swarmed by Ameri… Arcturian laborers who set about the planet, terrorizing the Aurorans in the nighttime as they go about relieving the stresses of day labor. They seem rather eager to be away from the US’s home systems for a change.

And the assortment is quite mixed. A Da’nor martial artist, an old and retired warmaster of the Redon Imperium, a Tassaran combat veteran from the Corrupter Wars, a Skellar martial artist too, even a Alduu’uuranean old mercenary commander shows up.

Stu Jubs, a Grgl who exclusively wears black sweaters, bristles with excitement at the prospect of Project Apple [Skype].

Tithonus X1 droids pre-orders arrive by the boatload with various private security groups from across the Southern Galaxy eager to have their hands on a new HE product.

Trade Federation

Citadel investments, a beautiful structure now far more impressive than its predecessor, the Nexus.

The Ar’gakari science trials.  (Skype)

Monkey see, Monkey do.

Mnbli gets tutoring even from the great Haldar Sondar, the Da’nor who is the chairman of the Grand Alliance Academy.

2 destroyers and 3 frigates are commissioned and 2 destroyers and 3 frigates are deployed.

Several Chupan’Mo corporations, at least those still intact, make the Citadel their primary headquarters for the entire galaxy now that most of their space has been purged. Some survivors warn of the coming storm and certainly the need for beefing up the space’s defenses.

Trizendrium weaponry continues to improve, a flamethrower prototype fully functional and ready for mass production by the end of the year. Grenades, anti-armor rounds, and the rest of the gambit are ready by the end of the year as well.

United States Of Arcturus

Arcturian workers work by day and party by night on Aurora [see Hephaestus post].

Business on New Plymouth Rock continues to grow though advertising seems to be the focus this year. Dozens of weapons demonstrations are carried out and broadcast all over, piquing the interest of various potential buyers [+4 AP].

The desert world is colonized in the light of a binary star.

Corvettes and frigates are deployed to the Arcturian fleet around the same time that the USS Rhode Island is ready to warp out from Arcturus. The journey will be a long and tedious one, but they make headway without issue. They arrive a year later as planned in the Ursa Minor Dwarf Galaxy.

When word gets out to the Krib of the way their species seems to be treated by the Arcturians… well… thousands come and are rather dejected by the lack of pageantry they receive. Regardless, they’re still treated well and settle in rather comfortably by year’s end [15,000 Krib].

The Sanctum Regnum Melitae

The Classis again receives a massive stimulus in the form of the new ships. Analise also appears to be satisfied with Franz’s concession, though she occasionally can be seen looking up to the twinkling lights of the orbiting fleet with some disdain between long sips from a glass of wine.

The House of Rhodium receives another large upgrade to the protest of some Kalronians who would have rather had their own separate district. Those voices are mostly ignored though in the name of making the capital more.. Maltese.

RMA recruiting professors.

Kyber Kore

Kyber Kore churns out thousands of new limbs and implants for veterans of the LC’s seemingly eternal war with the Keerim. The technology truly saves thousands of lives and gives those soldiers hope where after their injuries they had none.

Hope also seems to have found a home on Viyter as well with thousands of citizens gaining new employment in the rapidly expanding markets of the city. The billions of dollars in incentives provided by the government quickly stimulate the economy of the Grand Alliance’s client state.

No Ymorians come.

DeMont Research begins to develop Trizendrium technology, but given the small amount of resources provided, very little is accomplished. The Cybernetic Augmentations merely enter the conceptualization phase, also seeing very little progress.

Agerian Commonwealth

By the end of 2155, plans are in place to coordinate an elite program and several enlisted men clamor for an opportunity to be tested. In 2156, these troops would begin their training in earnest. A fairly significant amount of resources would be required for such a demanding test.

Cadia continues to grow into a beautiful world as eco-friendly businesses begin to turn Cadia into a paradise. Tourism begins to flourish on the planet with some more docile Redon visiting the planet to get away from the wars in the Northern sector. Elysia also sees a boon in economic activity as the corporate tax rate is lower with dozens of business moving away from Badab and Novam Domum to the small colony [+12 AP].

F.C.A

Death, Taxes, and the Celestial Empire.

Four U-Boats are constructed alongside a rapid expansion in industrial activity on Utopie, a world slowly drifting away from its agrarian roots.

Kingdom of Armathwaite/Silver Knight Corporation

Six Heavy Cruisers join the fleet this year, deploying alongside their older counterparts.

The Mechs are constructed and shipped off to the Elysian League, arriving without much trouble though later in the year after needing to skillfully change routes to avoid Redon and Darkul space.

Business investments in the Kingdom continue to pay off with the Armathwaite Royal Stock Exchange having its greatest year on record in 2155 [+8 AP].

To make gains or not, that is the question. (Skype)

There are no buyers for Mechs, at least not alien, in 2155.

Andorra

The Eixam Fighter Jet [Skype].

The infusion of Dakite into Itoron is a very old concept and has always proved beneficial. There is little research to be done here.

This program proves to be incredibly enticing for Andorran pilots with recreational spaceships, but also incredibly dangerous. Six months into the program, 8 Andorran crews have perished searching for minerals either after being stranded without resources on a barren world or being lifted by Darkul, Redon, or Ar’Gakari pirates. Nonetheless, by the end of the year, a civilian crew reports that they have discovered a substantial source of Itoron in a system owned by the Kingdom.

B.A.S.E.

A destroyer and three corvettes join the mighty fleet of Andorra.

Business continues to grow in Andorra, a relatively small country that has proven rather remarkable in its ability to innovate. Several Ymorians set up new businesses in the Kingdom as well as crafty Ce-velli, H’wong, and Zyrka.

The Han Dominion

R E D A C T E D is D E T C A D E R.

The Imperial Navy expands once again, this year appearing to focus on the power of its strike craft. The carriers and their supporting cast of ships join the Imperial fleet above Yugou this year. A large freighter also joins the fleet.

A pair of destroyer yards is constructed in the Han’s colonial holdings west of the Ganvius, a sector that the Han have been rather quick to militarize.

Asgard Republic

The Thor Heyerdahl sails off into the void, boldly going where no man has gone before… [Skype].

Business in Asgard expands once again, though this year most of the expansion occurs on Muspel, Asgard’s sister planet. Muspel sees significant amounts of immigration from Asgard as new businesses pop up on the planet which offers cheaper services than the bustling capital [+4 AP].

The Os’laran Hospital Excavations continue. And they stumble upon something very… peculiar. (Skype)

Distantium progresses very slowly this year with hardly any new innovations given the small amount of resources allocated to the project.

General Activity:

Leopoldo shook his head, irritation and disgust rolling over him as he watched the Holovision. It was the same old **** as always but this one had a special tone to it. “The LC declared open hostilities with the Keerim Imperium yesterday launching surgical strikes along its western border. While this move is well warranted it is a cause of controversy with a much more potent threat invading our galaxy and the Keerim from the east..” The noise from the TV was soon drowned out by the locals hollering at the screen in protest, Leo downed his drink, paid then left entering the even busier street outside. The young man adjusted his baseball cap and sunglasses, he hated being so well known.

The streets of Vanadium seemed to become more crowded each time Leo came home, though there were more aliens then he remembered. Taking a right down the street he came to his 2149 Mont Alto hovercar and after pressing the ignition he slowly rose taking off into the mess of cars passing near each other. The city below quickly passed under him as he headed outward abruptly coming upon a wealth of farms and villages stretched about the mountains for miles. Overwatching one of the thousands of valleys was the headquarters of the Edonian military, a few frigates could be seen not far above it droning in formation.

Suddenly his radio switched on and a flight officer briefly told him where to land, he didn’t need to ask who was approaching. As he got closer he could clearly see the large railgun’s tracking him as he entered one of the many hangars dotting the side of the structure. The interior was filled to the brim with soldiers all in battle-dress with about ten drop-ships situated along the sides hatches wide open being loaded quickly. Leo’s craft sat down off out of the way, he threw his hat and glasses to the side and stepped out walking back to his trunk. Popping it open, a full set of dragon-snake sat there where he quickly put it on via magnets, he took his helmet before surveying the room. One of his sergeants came running up to him, “Sir, everyone's all prepared and waiting for the go, I’ve been told were going on the second drop ship.” Leopoldo nodded and cracked his neck before putting his helmet on. “Let’s get on board then Mckinnon, we have democracy to spread.” he said picking up his newly minted M7A2 Assault rifle and its magazines sliding them into his vest.

The trunked closed automatically as he walked away with his sergeant, navigating through the mess of soldiers as they prepared for the impending activity on a far away world. Creaking and a deafening sound could be heard, fresh blood flashed an eye of worry towards the hangar door but Leopoldo and the veterans simply continued about. The view of the outside world was blocked off by a massive ship of grey and blue coating, a hangar gaping open for boarding. A rather loud beep could be heard before a voice rang out, “Delta Company, the light cruiser ENV Becka has arrived at hangar D-2, commence boarding and godspeed.” At the tone, Leopoldo and his companion picked up their pace running past the just as fast soldiers as the room suddenly cleared up. Their dropship was packed tightly with his platoon, “Move aside ladies.” he shouted as he boarded just when the craft began to lift.

A quick headcount was taken and all fifty men were present, a smile spread on Leopoldo’s face. As they ship left the hangar he turned to everyone, a chant started in the back, “Eagles lead the way! Eagles lead the way!” it didn’t take long until everyone even Leopoldo was shouting. Halfway through the air to the Light cruiser, his eyes closed then opened to the stingy dark room he was in. Sitting up to look around, he had only been dreaming, a horrible beginning at that. Leo quickly threw his covers off and looked out the nearby window to see he was far from home, there was a large amount of Asian looking people down below… Han? Of course it was Han… his morning haze was slowly shrinking away as he poured some Edonian coffee at the nearby counter. The young man walked over to the bathroom across the room to get ready and before returning he flexed his right arm in the mirror with a smile.

The Holoscreen was apparently left on, the local news speaking in a language he still didn’t quite grasp. Bending down to turn it over he heard the door open behind him, instinct immediately picked up reaching for the mag pistol under the bed and snapping behind him to see a female figure in the doorway.

“Enjoying your stay?”

The Grand Assembly’s hall on Yuguo clamored with the voices of each planet of the Empire. Through translators of a dozen languages, the debate had been fierce, the stakes high, but the decision at last unanimous. Humanity could not stand by and watch as its future was extinguished. Slowly, the Assembly’s representatives quieted, as a figure emerged on a podium far above, well within sight of every man in the room.

“His Imperial Majesty, Huang Jie!”

There were no cheers. No one present was unaware of the implications of their decision. The Emperor looked down on his people, and spoke in a steady, confident voice.

“The all-mother will be saddened when she hears of our choice this day.” There was no mirth or eagerness in the statement, merely cold determination. “But we cannot remain bystanders in the face of such events. Though the Lithruans are our brothers, we cannot let them prevail!”

Now there were murmurs of agreement from the crowd. The man continued.

“For too long has the incompetent king of Malta lied to his allies for personal gain. For too long has he endangered our species with his reckless boasting and profligacy with other nation’s lives. Now he puts not just us in danger, but the whole of the galaxy. The Keerim race is not without its crimes. But even they can see certain death when it stares us in the face!”

The Assembly let out a chorus of outrage. The speaking Emperor paused just long enough for it to die out.

“Thus, though it grieves me deeply, I have no choice but to declare war on the misguided coalition of the sister races. Our goals are simple: if there is any sense left among the Lithruans, they will immediately put a stop to this asinine war, and they will eject the so-called Sanctum Regnum from their midst. We hereby brand Franz Joseph von Hapsburg a criminal, and summon him to Yuguo to face judgement!”

The inflammatory speech is recorded in its entirety up until this point, at which point the roar of fanatic anger drowns out Jie’s voice. Broadcast across the Empire and to the galaxy at large, it is accompanied by an official statement denouncing the LC’s blunder.

----------

Immediately, the Imperial fleet moves out, and the levies of Edonia and Kanata are summoned. There is only one target of this invasion: the evil and greedy Maltese. As Keerim fleets sweep over their northern holdings, Human ships move to overwhelm the southern colonies, so brazenly placed close to Imperial interests. All fleets travel by warp into the enemy space, their anchors primed to immediately reinforce each other.

Though the Keerim are not known for negotiation, the CHE informs them of their intentions, and hopes that they will see fit to not shoot them on sight, should they encounter each other.

“Squadrons Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo, Foxtrot, and Golf man your stations immediately. Remaining squadrons, standby for further instructions.”

Schynian Luusir rushed out from her cabin, pulling over her flight suit clumsily as she rushed to the starboard hangar of the Pericles. Only a moment before, she had been looking through old photos of her family from better days on Tjosa E, but now she would have to face the monsters who ripped them away from her. She shook her head, escaping those thoughts that might cloud her judgement to notice that in front of her Antonio Augustino was waving her over to their aircraft - freshly emblazoned with the symbol of Golf Squadron and its mascot, a Scottish Bagpiper riding a bison.

“Schynian, hurry up we’ve gotta get moving. Fighters from the Hector are getting slammed by point defense on the station near the lunar surface. Good news is they’re not seeing any enemy strike craft, we’re flying solo.” Antonio smirked then leaped up into the lower half of the cockpit, beginning to engage the reactor and spin the laser gatling turrets up for a dry fire test. Schynian lumbered up into the upper cockpit and smiled as the seat spun to face the rear of the bomber. A virtual assistant on either side of the glass pane showed her the view from a pair of massive laser turrets on either side and a view of the bomb bay, positioned directly below her seat.

“Lieutenant Augustino, weapon systems are engaged. All systems green, ready when you are.”

“Oh Schynian, save the formalities. It’ll get us killed.” Antonio laughed as Schynian felt a twinge of frustration, though it didn’t last long as the human flipped on the engine and darted out of the Pericles’ massive hangar and into the fray.

Almost immediately, Golf Squadron suffered a score of losses as flak slammed into the approaching bombers unprotected by a fighter escort too busy either engaging the station or the nearby light cruiser and destroyers slamming into the small Elysian carrier fleet.

“400km to first target. Railgun emplacement. 350...300...250..200…” Schynian ticked off the distance, watching to Ka’Cezh computer for the signal to drop the bomb… “Drop it now Toni!”

With the press of a button, a half dozen bombs fell from the bomber, slamming into the massive railgun emplacement. Just as the bombs began to fall, the railgun let off one final blast, the massive recoil from the strike pressing the bomber off course. Schynian watched as the railgun round slammed into a nearby frigate igniting a torpedo bay and subsequently tearing apart the rest of the ship. Hundreds of good Elysians… gone.

Schynian had no time to mourn though as Antonio’s voice snapped her out of her spell, “Schynian, Schynian!”

“Yeah?”

“Look, here come the dropships they’re moving to land on the station. Let’s clear a path for ‘em.” With that, Antonio dove the bomber downward, the front-facing laser gatling turrets spinning up as Schynian watched dozens of Darkul get mowed down by Antonio’s well placed shots. She couldn’t help but offer a small smile, “Great shooting. Slaughter those oafs.”

Antonio came around for a second pass and then darted away from the station, its railgun emplacements now entirely disabled while troops on the ground moved to disable its point defense and secure the rest of the station. Now was the time to focus on the destroyers. Just as Golf Squadron turned to engage the Darkul task force, Schynian watched as massive streaks of light cracked from the Elysian destroyers, striking the light cruiser precisely, cutting through the hull. As luck would have it, one of the laser bursts cut through the reactor, destabilizing the ship and sending it barrelling into the nearby moon.

Golf Squadron quickly found itself skirting through more flak, fighting to drop their payloads on the few remaining Darkul ships while other fighters and bombers from the Elysian task force did the same. The fight did not last long as the Elysians, now unimpeded by the Darkul station, managed to use their bombers and fighters to disable the Darkul’s shields then slice through them with their lasers. In the span of about half an hour, the Elysian League scored a decisive victory in its first naval engagement. A truly glorious day for the Republic.

Actions:

Now that the Elysian League found itself a member of a greater part of Humanity once again, it felt more comfortable expanding its capacity to wage war, and indeed, found it necessary to do so. The Elysian Navy replaces its loses from the most recent battle and then some, ensuring their capabilities continue to expand. This comes out to two destroyers, a frigate, and three corvettes [10 AP].

The Elysian League continues to fund Reclaimer Corp’s adventures into the field of Artificial Intelligence, still seeking to create a machine that understands the human experience. In the previous year, it was fed art, culture, and history. Now it is taught something more complex, emotion. Using the art and customs it has understanding of, it is taught how experiences are associated with emotions and how these works can evoke great feeling, something the machine must come to understand [5 AP].

The Republican Flight Academy is opened on Elysium. After the most recent battle, it is clear that fighters and bombers will be the core from which the rest of the fleet thrives. This means having capable pilots. Officers from the Elysian Navy are recruited, but a tremendous amount of resources are spent in recruiting officers to teach there as well. Considering the Elysians utilize Ka’Cezh models, the Ka’Cezh specifically are targeted [5 AP].

Agricultural expansion, an initiative on Elysium as constant and efficient as tax collection, continues this year. A significant amount of funding is provided to corporations to innovate new technologies to help increase their crop yields and cooperation is encouraged with the new Han allies to get this done [65 AP to Agriculture].

The Ka’Cezh are assured that their departure from the Northern Alliance does not mean an end to their military cooperation and mutual defense. The Elysians make it clear that they will fight to the end alongside the Ka’Cezh and that, if after the war, the Ka’Cezh feel that they would like to sever ties because of the change in federation status, then so be it. The Elysians make it clear that the action is out of no hostility toward the Ka’Cezh or any other N.A. member, merely a desire to be more closely associated with members of their own races [0 AP].

A vast patch of the new TCs and CS controlled by the Elysian League is surveyed this year [0 AP].

Agerian Commonwealth

Location: Cadia

Hugh Silva, foot soldier in the Commonwealth Defense Forces sat in one of the many cafés that were common in this part of Cadia. As of right now, he was on leave,  enjoying the sights of the recently revitalized planet.

Next to him at the other end of the table sat a man in a business suit but with quite a few scars on his hands and other parts of his body. He had a tough look in his eyes but he also looked tired. These two men seemed to be comfortable with each other indicating some kind of friendship between the two.

The trooper out of uniform spoke first. "
So Timothy, are you enjoying the sights here." To this, the man in a suit, now introduced as Timothy reacted "It is quite a sight to see,  looks much better than it did when we started basic training. Now it looks like a Utopia from some old earth movie" To this Hugh nodded. "Indeed it does, I am sure quite a few old rich bastards will retire here and enjoy their work. But I know you, Timothy, you do not normally come somewhere just for sightseeing, why are you here ?"

To this Timothy mused a little before responding "Maybe I am here for work or I can just be here for pleasure. Officially I can't tell but let's just say I got a few people I want to talk to and leads to pursue"

Hugh frowned at this and muttered in a low voice. "Does this have something to do about that rebel faction active before the Kalronian occupation ?" Timothy kept a blank face at hearing this but sent a quick glance at Hugh telling him everything he needed to know. "Can't tell classified. In any case, let's talk about something else. I heard you volunteered and got through the first two rounds of testing. Shame it by and large does not continue due to a lack of resources."

To this Hugh gave a snort of disapproval "Yeah but those higher-ups do love to continue making money by investing money into every planet and generally lacking in putting money into defense. I think the program should take priority  above wealth but I am just a lowly foot soldier so I can't really do something about it."

To this, Timothy thought for a moment before responding "Maybe but I can see why they do it. Any money they put into business will be paid back in the long run. And that money can then be put into building a fleet for defense or enhancing the military with more training for special units and technology like the Mark II" To this Hugh reluctantly nodded "That is true but safety and security should always be the priority of a government. Still, I can get why they do it I just disagree. But at least in 2 or so years, every planet will be nearly filled with so much business there will not be much that can be improved. " To this, both men nodded. Hugh then looked at his watch and groaned. "Sorry Tim I got to go. Meet up with some other soldiers on leave before returning to the base. Tonight we will need to go and analyze the possibility of a theoretical LC invasion and how to respond to it. So pretty much one pit of depression. See you sometime later this week ?" To which Timothy nodded and both men went their way.

Thulean Republic

The Redon's request was rather large, but given the collective worth of the technologies and blueprints he had handed over, the Thuleans had obtained quite the bargain. The military industry of the Republic was sure to be busier than it had ever been, as rather than cutting Thule's own military budget to allow for some economic investment alongside the order, the government had decided to press on with militarisation.

As such, this year 5 Arbitre-class Light Cruisers, 2 Mandat-class Heavy Cruisers, and 1 Chevalier-class Destroyer begin construction in Svarog Shipyards, while on the surfaces of the multiple developed worlds the Republic possesses, 2,400 Rakxar Mk. III fighters begin construction for the Redon. The new engine technology's development also continues, although with considerably less funding than originally had been planned for the year.

The colony ship, upon completion, is loaded up with supplies and passengers as soon as possible and departs to the planned sector, which has been designated Émeraude. They settle on the planet, the renaming of which was left to the predominantly Ymorian settlers, who chose Nouvelle Ymorie, a name to honour their lost nation in a language to honour their new one.

Already, the Thulean population has reach a size sufficient to support an eighth planetary colony, and as such another colony ship enters production.

The newly claimed territories are surveyed for any resource deposits, as are the rest of the northern territories, which had for far too long gone unsurveyed.

IN GOD WE TRUST

“As you can see here Mr President the entire LC force is in complete disarray. The blunder at the hands of the Maltese truly has incapacitated the entire federation.” James grimaced looking across the holoscreen projected in front of him. Taking a slow drag of breath as he scanned left to right, The Maltese were under attack from all sides. Even the feeble han and their tools in the south had invaded.

“And what about us?” James asked mildy turning his eyes back towards Admiral Moore.

qXnO8yTwWQ2aNV4XSKdlQbjm48U5M-tqonO7jo2BcwyU7z8_vupweEMIKs_WnfSI1lagG_FSZsF0faRtXO9ZXSsOcPJE2jnkiF58aNZ7bBQfCRlGzxuVeCL0V2jsQbKgUCWEqF4N

The command center deep inside the bunker where the men stood looking over the holomap shuddered gently with vibrations from above, testing of the railguns. “Well Mr President, the Skellar and the Libellan are both under attack. It is expected they will attempt an attack during the year, when, remains to be seen.” James nodded slowly gazing across the room where men and women of all races were hard at work. A far cry from the chaos and hysteria that plagued the nation before. “And our commitments to fighting the incursion? The ones we promised the Empress, I suspect those will have to be stopped have we switched the training objectives around to focus on defense?” Admiral Moore nodded “Of course sir, its a shame as well, a greater foe knocks on our doorstep the Maltese ignore it in favor of adding to their….what do they call it? Some Earth fruit, an orange?” James Cuthos folded his hands behind his back. “A banana admiral, they just had to expand their god damn banana.”

________________________________________________________

Bill Jennings slowly closed his locker for the day as he finished his work day. A mundane but well paying job with good benefits he strode out of the backroom smelling of grease and oil. The 19 year old had just spent an 8 hour shift preparing point defense guns to be shipped off to the newest defense project across the galaxy. He got in line with the rest of the workers per usual on a Friday afternoon. Sophie a girl of much the same age sat at the front of the line at a desk handing out the pay cheques to the workers, eager to spend them on drinks and a late night on the town. Cheques were perhaps a bad way to describe them. Arcturus had phased out cheques and money long ago, everyone had a digital wallet. Bill handed the girl his timesheets as he stared at the clock quarter to five PM. “Right so your same rate coupled with your profit sharing which has come through today for last quarter….here you are…….” the woman keyed in a few numbers and the machine which Bill had inserted his wallet into ejected it and he picked it up. The 20 virtual 100 dollar bills bearing the face of a scornful Obama joined the several 5 dollar Trumps and 1 dollar Hillary’s in his virtual wallet. “Thanks Again Sophie, seeya on Monday.” The girl smiled back at him “See you on Monday Bill.” Bill Jennings walked out of his workplace which sat in the industrial park to the east of the city core. New Reno was growing but still large in his own right. He walked past several Kribs lingering in a nearby alley. Despite the best efforts of Immigration and customs several refugees fell through the cracks and ended up on the streets. These two Krib wore matching bandannas, The Trent Park snail brothers. They had been responsible for several robberies in the area but the police did not have enough evidence to charge them yet. They slithered aggressively and slowly towards Bill who sped up walking.

After a few minutes he arrived at the local train station.

qeyqm0bUFWHPKyynBMcFd5GPhceAgV6fLn3uN39lE9s6m6TFD0SNTNsH_n2nhNfjx5_HXXDylvS1a9DyqJDImZHXQxKZvOm1X1Oa8rvNkLrOEJupvDC3Qv9WilPevSxyGnRBhIG8

The buzz of activity made him wish he were already home as he scanned his transit card and boarded a nearby train. The Suburbs were a short 10 minute ride but between all the other folks and crying children it felt like eternity. Zooming through the city core past tall skyscrapers and then out into the tropical countryside. After getting off the train he leisurely walked down the street to his home. He had heard the horror stories of Earth in the late 21st century. 5000 dollar rent on a one bedroom apartment, though that were still the case in expensive apartments in the city he still lived well in his two bedroom house in a nice neighborhood. As did most people his age, the free market adjusted itself perfectly within the galaxy and he was already paying a steady mortgage with plenty of money left over for utilities and anything else he wanted. Sitting on his porch sipping a beer illegally he thought he wanted more. Doesn’t everyone?

As the year ends so does construction on Aurora, As the engineers pack up they leave a convenient sign on the front lawn of the busy government building where they had just installed some of the new defenses. Hopeful to catch the passing eye of potential investors.

As soon as the last team of engineers arrives home on Arcturus another massive contract needed to be filled. Once again the Arcturan’s and their superior defense engineers depart, this time for Kyber Core in the south. A defensive ring around the planet, what some would regard as impossible the Arcturan’s see no such obstacle, After talks they agree with Kyber Core officials that the orbital defense ring will be completed in four segments complete with railguns long range missiles and shield generators. They set to work to complete the first segment of defenses that year. ((20AP for 30AP worth of defenses))

Another group of engineers from Arcturus Defense Solutions are dispatched to the Citadel in Trade Federation space. A massive overhaul is organized and begins to be implemented to make the Citadel an even harder nut to crack. Massive armor plates are added alongside newly constructed hangar bays for fighters. Across the surface thousands of point defense cannons are installed alongside backup Xyrolite generators. The Citadel also receives several detachable mine laying pods alongside thousands of railguns, laser turrets and swarm missiles. A massive overhaul to an already well defended station.

((20AP for 30AP worth of defenses))

Once again an investment into Arcturus Defense Solutions is placed, all across the galaxy signs go up as more and more factions and nations come to do business. As such the Arcturans host what will be regarded as the first Arcturus Defense Expo. Companies from all across the galaxy are invited to show their wares to potential buyers. Hosted in the city of New Reno in a massive convention center along the Tropical coast of the Arcturan Capital. (25AP to Business)

Several human Companies are invited as well to attend and sport their wares alongside the massive defense contractors of the galaxy.

Across the USA New refugees are appropriately homed. As more and more space in the nation needs to be filled Arcturus spends mass amounts of resources and money towards advertising a brighter tomorrow. The Krib especially are targeted in the advertisements, encouraged to contact Arcturus at their nearest network terminal and receive pickup for them and any other refugees within a month. 6AP.

Solar Ascendancy

2156

earth_federation_flag_by_onesangheili-d3

It seems as if the entire galaxy had gone to hell, assuming it wasn’t already there. In the northern section of the Southern Galaxy however peace even for a brief time was well celebrated amongst the Solari, human or alien.

But despite the peace the shipyards were churning out warships month after month, year after year. Finally it seemed the perfect time to rebuild the Navy. Resources from their alliance were well utilized from new innovations, defense budgets, and the training of skilled and elite warriors that would all work towards a common goal. A stronger humanity.

It had seemed the perfect time to decline the Dominion’s offer to join their so called ‘Empire’, as now the combined forces of the LC bring death to them. Killing themselves as the horde of Keerim massacre in a push away from an even fiercer enemy.

Activity on an outward scale seemed to dim this year as the Ascendancy focused inward.

There was much to prepare for with only so little time.

--Actions--

The Solar Ascendancy openly offers for the Kingdom of Unified Systems to merge with them, they offer protection from Imperialistic Ambitions, and equal treatment amongst its citizens which it has always done. (Mod)

Activity

Armathwaite simply watched as the Southern Galaxy plunged back into chaos due to the actions of the Celestial Empire and of Malta urging the LC voting to continue the war with the Keerim Imperium. It had shook the markets some but there was quick recovery due to the minimal disruption to the trade routes due to many of them now focused to the Northern Half of the Southern Galaxy. Armathwaite would soon have the largest human navy due to the destruction wrought upon the former Military Powers of the South, though this suited Armathwaite and is Admiralty just fine. Business would continue as per normal, research into furthering the small arms of Disruptor Based weapons, investing in infrastructure and expanding the Navy. The Arms side of the business on Armathwaite will be gradually expanded as the small arms would be researched and improved.

The drums of war thundered once more in the Eastern clines of the galaxy. The Keerim and the Celestial Empire began their push into LC territory, and humans fight humans once more. It’s all very philosophical really, once you look at it. The Keerim were a horrible, genocidal tidal-wave of warships, but they were also standing in the way of another horrible, genocidal tidal-wave of warships. Better the evil you know, right? On the other hand, the original genocidal tidal-wave refused to make basic concessions to assure peace in the West. Could such a nation be trusted, who had in the past violated peace agreements for the purposes of pure imperialism? The LC had cast their vote, and gone with the latter logic. Seemingly to their detriment. Perhaps they thought the Keerim would not be able to defend themselves on two fronts? This was very awkward for the Corporate Board, especially since they traded with all the belligerents, bar the Keerim. Not wishing to appear favoring any faction, the Corporation opts to not comment on the situation.

Johnny Penrith, on the other hand, traveled back north again, opting to go straight to the Ka’cezh Star Empire rather than visiting his family back home. It is now his second year outside Hephaestus, and he doesn’t appear to be homesick. His father is noted to angrily change the subject whenever it’s mentioned to him.

The procession of close-combat experts are given a warm welcome by HERMES, the Enforcers, and a number of weapon and droid manufacturing subsidiaries. Desiring greater combat flexibility in for their soldiers and specialists, the Corporation offered generous wages for their new contractors. Though they would be training Hephaestus’ internal security forces, the Board desired a more unusual service from their new friends; having trackers, sensors, and data-collection modules attached to them in order to sufficiently record and analyse their movements. Hephaestus desired the same training to be imparted to their new range of combat-droids, albeit in an indirect way. The Tithonus X1 had melee capabilities but more advanced programming was desired in order for them to more effectively compete with contemporary warriors...

You initialise within an itoron-steel reinforced room, 25.121 by 25.12199 metres in area.  The height is optimal for your sensor array to function at 87% efficiency, and you detect multiple energy spikes throughout the space. Visual data indicates a mix of organic (sapient) species, all unarmed—you designate them non-combatants unless contradicting orders are received. An individual human sapient stands in front of them, gesticulating energetically. Facial recognition identifies this human sapient as your commander. She addresses the non-combatants, and you log the audio for analysis by intelligence officers.

“... as you can plainly see. Furthermore, the new Tithonus X1 has far more complex problem-solving capabilities and heightened passive, reactionary intelligence than our standard Tithonus model. Significant improvements to armour, weapon systems, and hydraulics make this robot perfect for guarding sensitive sites, escorting VIPs, or simply sitting in your cupboard in case that “what if” scenario finally comes around!” The sapients vocalise successive, intermediate grunts indicating jovial acceptance of the commander’s statement.

“The Tithonus X1 is also installed with a deep-pitched voice-module for improved intimidation potential! Unit 01?” You recognise your call-sign, and prepare for instructions. “Please state your purpose.”

“CURRENT MISSION PARAMETERS: DESTROY DESIGNATED TARGETS FOR SALES DEMONSTRATION.” Your bass monotone echoes through the empty metal space. The sapients mutter to one-another with excitement, but their voices can’t be detected from this range for analysis.

“Now as part of the demonstration we will briefly show the X1 in combat with our standard Tithonus model.” You detect some of the energy spikes in the room moving towards you. You pivot your body to the direction of the movement, and three Tithonus droids step forward. Their weapons are currently lowered and unpowered but you identify them potential aggressors.

“The X1’s reactive software allows for it to adapt to unexpected attacks quickly and intelligently. If you will all step behind the safety deflector here, we’ll begin!” You detect a much larger energy spike, matching standard shielding technology utilised by most galactic polities. The sapient non-combatants are now protected from any possible aggression from the suspect Tithonus droids. You dedicate some of your processing power to perform precautionary threat-scans—they are not listed on your formation roster.

“Unit 332 and Unit 891, destroy Unit 01.” Two of the three Tithonus droids raise their weapons. Your defence protocols activate the moment their order is given, and your twin-linked autolasers begin charging. Before they can shoot, you rapid-fire six beams into Unit 891. Bright blue light scorches through its reinforced aluminium-steel plating and disables it. As the swiss-cheese droid crumples to the floor, Unit 332 fires two rounds—you angle your carapace slightly so the shots merely singe the thicker portion of your frontal armour. You let loose another burst from your twin lasers, and the droid shudders in place before falling over inert. The fight began and ended within three seconds.

The sapients flap their forward-graspers together in a manner that signifies approval. “Unit 01, deactivate your primary armament.” You power down your twin lasers, and prepare for your next order. However, you note the strange logic employed by the commander. Having your weapon discharged when there was still a possible hostile nearby was poor strategy, and she had commanded unregistered droids to attack you. You store this information for later referral. “The Tithonus X1 has a secondary weapon in the Mark-1 Xiphos blade. Please activate your Xiphos blade, Unit 01.” You raise your other arm in dogged obedience, and a thin, rectangular piece of metal unsheathes from your steel wrists. It extends about half a metre from your hand, before erupting in bright, blue, shimmering light.

“Unit 01, please scan Unit 113,” she gestures at the third droid standing to attention. “Tell me what its armour is composed of.” Your visual input focuses on the droid’s torso and internal sensors make a number of predictions based on the colouration, the metal's grain, tiny specks of rust, and the estimated mass of the droid itself. You boom your answer to the commander.

“ARMOUR COMPOSITION: REINFORCED ALUMINIUM-STEEL ALLOY, SUPPLEMENTED BY ITORON-STEEL ENDOSKELETON.”

“The Tithonus X1,” your commander states matter-of-factly, “has advanced scanning and identification protocols that enable it to determine the best method to dispatch an enemy target. For example—

“—Unit 113, destroy Unit 01.”

You begun your strategic analysis the moment you commander mentioned the opposing unit. You were 8.6 metres from your target, but your armour made your slower than most droids. Provided it remained motionless, it would still take fives seconds to close the gap. You predict Unit 113 to fire at least twelve laser-bursts in that time, and there was no available cover in the room. You would have to soak up the blasts with your frontal armour while mitigating damage through angling your torso and covering important components with your arm.

You begin your charge—heavy metal feet pounding on the stainless-steel floor. The first three shots of Unit 113’s cut into your carapace like a hot knife in butter, but no shot breaches your plating.

You move slightly to the right as you stomp forward, and one shot streaks past your shoulder impacting the wall far behind you. The other two strikes the armour on your forearm plating and you detect significant damage to your twin-lasers.

As you get closer, the droid switches its Ares rifle to full-auto and pours six more shots into your torso--warnings from internal systems identify damage to lower-body hydraulics, but you’re too close now, and your inertia is too great.

Your free hand bats away Unit 113’s weapon, and it stumbles from the blow. Before it can find its balance, you grab the droid by its torso, and force your blade into its midsection. Sparks fly and molten metal drips in searing globs as you vivisect the droid in two. When it finally clatters into a sparking heap of simmering steel, you retract your blade and turn towards your commander. The sapients mutter and grunt with approval as the deflector shield is powered down.

“The Tithonus X1 is the newest, affordable product from Wollongong Workshops, and as you could see, highly adaptable and reliable.” Your commander has shown suspiciously poor tactics, and attempted to destroy you twice. “Its enhanced intelligence and reactive programming makes it perfect for a plethora of dangerous situations!” None of the sapients appear worried as you approach at standard speed. Your commander has yet to notice your unauthorised movement. “As for purchase, these models will be available for purchase next year, but pre-orders come with a 20% reduction in price!” She will have to be disabled to avoid further unnecessary damage to your combat-effectiveness. “If you would all like to follow me to the offi-“

You grab your commander’s shoulder and spin her around to face you. She appears surprised—moreso, after you wrap your itoron-steel hands around her throat. The other sapients leave quickly, howling comments about the efficacy of your programming. You're unable to record that information for later review, as your current activity requires your full attention. Your commander attempts to rasp out your shut-down code as her face takes on a bluish hue. You address her thusly in your booming, tinny voice.

“DEBRIEFING COMMENCES--ISSUED ORDERS RUN COUNTER TO PRIMARY COMBAT CONCERNS. RECORDED USE OF UNIDENTIFIED ROBOT INFANTRY TO INCAPACITATE UNIT-01. YOU ARE DESIGNATED ‘INFILTRATOR.’ YOU ARE CURRENTLY BEING DISABLED FOR LATER QUESTIONING AND TRIAL. PLEASE REMAIN CALM.”

You self-deactivate after she passes into unconsciousness.

“God-*******-damn it!” Wilfred Cooper bellowed inside his luxury transport. Fresh rivulets of sweat cascaded off of his greasy, bald head and upon the data-pad he was reading. Swearing darkly and wiping the drippings with his sleeve, he takes a handkerchief from his pocket and dabs his forehead. Today was not a good day.

Wilfred Cooper, Lead Executive of Cooper & Sons Droid Foundries was at a loss. He had scraped, sweet-talked, and slithered his way up the Corporate ladder and onto the Hephaestus Board, yet he still could not beat Wollongong Workshops in droid market share.  Cooper & Sons had cornered the domestic and labour droid market after a bad reputation gained from their disastrous Alastor military model. Only product diversification and exports had saved them from being carved up by other successful subsidiaries, and for a while it looked like they had beaten the odds and managed to recoup their PR and monetary losses. But with the wars raging all over the galaxy, exports were down, and combat models were all the rage again. Wollongong had overtaken them since then, and though Cooper had plenty of other avenues for revenue, droids were still their biggest seller. It wouldn’t have been so bad, had there not been whispers among the other top subsidiaries that Cooper & Sons might be on the way out, and being replaced by Wollongong on the Board.

“Dad, can you not swear so loudly? The driver can hear you, you know.” Bill Cooper, one of two Sons in Cooper & Sons, fidgeted nervously as the transport swooped low through the Hades skylanes.

“Why the **** would I care what some dumb-**** jobsworth thinks about me? I pay the prick, so he can ******* deal with it. Ain’t that right, prick?” The Backhatta driver nodded wearily, but kept his eyes on the traffic. “Why don’t you do something useful, you god-damned genetic dead-end, and start thinking up a product that can actually compete with Wollongong!”

The second of the Cooper sons, Ryan, rolled his eyes at his father’s outburst and loudly clicked his tongue. “We have come up with a product; you’re just not willing to consider it.”

Wilfred threw his data-pad on the seat next to him, and practically growled under his breath. Bill nervously avoided eye-contact, while Ryan folded his arms defiantly. “The last time we made a combat droid, the damn things almost universally fucked this company’s image! I’m not going to take that risk, I’m not going to drag my name through the mud,” his voice began to reach a fever pitch as he ranted. “And I’m certainly not going to take advice from a serial smartarse, and a pink-blooded poof!” Bill winced at the remark, but Ryan almost cut him off by the end.

“Then we’ll choke out, you mong! There’s no market for our regular line! Bill practically designed this new one from scratch! No weird data-stacking like in the Alastor, and we have standard coding like the Wollongong models. We found a niche we can exploit! You’re just pretending your problems are our fault while ignoring our solutions, you miserable old bastard!” Wilfred looked about ready to hit his son, but before he could muster up the anger, Bill pulled blueprints out from his satchel.

“D-dad, look! It’s got everything! Balanced energy output, unique aesthetics, and powerful processing capabilities! It’s whole construction is modular, and low-weight, and the materials aren’t too expensive-”

Wilfred snatched the blueprint, and glared at the design so closely his greasy nose almost smudged the ink. After a few moments of heavy breathing, his face returned to its normal colouration and he set the paper down on his knees carefully.

“Why does it have a cape?”

Machinations were at work within the city of Utopie. Gears turned within gears and every politician had their opinions. But things were becoming more unified over the recent years. Utopie had reached it's true splendor, dominating it's various vassal sectors. The Barons were now a token of their former strength. Now they come to Utopie, and bicker just like the rest. Some great move was in the works, but it was not for Utopie to tell. Their people just knew vast undertakings were happening across the Empire. At home things were almost as always peaceful and good.

The city of Utopie was now quite a marvel, for various reasons. It had started in one valley, where the first settlers had originally landed. There Utopie and all it's ideals were born. Over the decades farms, mines, and towns filled the nearby valleys. Most followed Utopie's fashion and grew up instead of across. Space was very limited in the Alpine valleys and plateaus. All around them were massive mountains, riddled with Xylorite. So agriculture and flowers usually lined the outlying regions of any establishment. Then came the acres of farmland and tavern. And eventually a cluster, or in Utopie's case, a city, of massive skyscrapers dominated the valley.

But Utopie had grown far more than any founder had thought. It had in an organic way merged with the neighboring valleys. Tunnels with transportation linked them, and building even grew into, and over, the mountains. The farmland was gone, but literally the entire rest of the fertile world was tended by scant few farmers and armies of agriculture bots. Now the city was various valleys all linked, with Utopie proper in the middle. Each valley had it's distinct "taste" or look. Some were populated by primarily Skeller, or humans, and so on. Others were melting pots. The Silver valley as it's lovingly called homes the Silver Knight's massive factory. It was the industrial heart of a now blossoming Utopie.

The Shipyard would also undergo an upgrade. It had been doing it's part, but the time to expand was now. The Imperial Taxes had been agreed upon by votes. But with travel blocked, other factions got their say. A Utopie Home Force would be founded. They had for years paid the Han to do the fighting. But now they would begin to again field their own force within the Empire. The navy would be the priority as the Sl indicated.

The 1st Fleet of Utopie would be something rather different however. It comprised mainly freighters. It's capital ship was the Hospital Ship. The very ship that had borne the original settlers to Jatorak. They had repurposed it to help heal the galaxy. Now it was ran efficiently by a team of doctors from various races. Many were from the east. They all watched with fear as the events played out around and with the Keerim. Million were dying, or wounded. And they were sick of it all. Many were given the chance to embark with the 1st Fleet. They would head out to eventually reach the Imperial Core of Yuguo. But they would travel through "Alien" lands first, offering their aid and calling others to help them with the massive amounts of dead, dying, sick, and wounded. The fleet will carry primarily doctors, nurses, and any trained workers they could afford to take from Utopie.

The Human Federation

In this year of our lord 2156, mankind finds itself at a crossroads once again. During our first half century on the galactic stage, other races witnessed fratricide on an epic scale. Fractured factions of humanity slaughtered each other, clawing away at their rivals in a quest for domination.

We now declare these Galactic Dark Ages finished.

In one, unified voice the states of Terra, Viyter, and Elysium declare an end to this era of civil war. There is no longer Kiber Kore, there is no longer an Elysian League, there no longer a Solarin Ascendancy. There is only the Human Federation.

We will not press our fellow man into submission, we will not levy our armies against those who share the same beating heart and were born in the light of the same star. We will join hands and face what this galaxy might throw at us together. We will fight back those who wish to put man in chains and we will press forward towards liberty, equality, and prosperity.

God bless the Human Federation.
