The Republic’s top scientists scramble around laboratories on all colonies researching into Dialite. Each colony conducting different experiments on the energy source. For the time being the project has been deemed top secret. Majority of the personnel assigned to it are excited to see where it will go in the coming years as more funds are allocated towards the project.

Business is once again invested into but on a different planet, Arcadis. Warszawa saw a significant economic boost and unemployment drop from the previous investments, so it was time to bring the prosperity to the other planets of the Republic.

STORY:

Spoiler

Tragedy greets the Asgarder people this year as the Chancellor announces in a press conference that the ARCV Thor Heyerdahl was lost with all hands on its mission to survey the galactic core. Transmissions received from the science ship, and corroborated by intelligence from the Redons, show that upon entering the core systems the ship began to be pursued by several Replicant vessels. The Asgarder ship requested and received aid from the Redons in the form of an escort fleet, but it was too late to arrive before the Thor Heyerdahl encountered massive Replicant task forces closer into the core worlds. The Redons were advised to withdraw by the Thor Heyerdahl - they accepted their fate and did not wish to risk their would-be rescuers in a suicidal rescue attempt. The over one thousand crew members are memorialised.

Privately, the scan data of the Replicant fleets in the galactic core is sent to Redon High Command. The Asgard government queries if the Redons knew about this, and if they knew the Thor Heyerdahl was flying into a hornet's nest. More tactfully, they ask whether the Redons intend to launch some sort of offensive against this threat? Clearly the indiscriminate robots are a threat to anyone near the core, including the Redon homeworlds.

Muspel, a colony named for the home of the fire-giants of old norse myth, is described honestly as a volcanic hell-hole of a planet. Roughly the size of old Mars, it enjoys a relatively stable magnetosphere that protects it, and its new inhabitants, from the harsh solar radiation that would normally blast a planet this close to its parent star. An unlikely place for an economic revolution and colony rush, but a welcome surprise for Asgard. Once a world purely of miners and researchers living in orbital habitats and hardy surface outposts clinging like limpets to the rocky terrain, Muspel is now host to whole hermetically-sealed arkology cities and subterranean metropoli thriving off the proceeds of new businesses and industries. Muspel's recent success is capitalised on by the Stavanger administration as vindication of their economic plan! To rousing public and congressional applause, the investment program continues for another year.

The excavations of the Saryn hospital in the ruins of frozen and buried Os'laran have yielded tantalising new rewards. Dubbed "the Essence of Life" by records found with it, and by the Saryn observers present at the site, the miraculous bio-manipulating substance is carefully extracted from the ruin and taken to an orbiting research station for careful study. What possible applications could this new technology have? The more pressing matter perhaps is if it can be replicated, as only two small vials of the fluid have been recovered. Research begins, with a relatively modest sum of research funding but the expertise of doctors and biologists from across the Republic - and a request to the Saryn observers for their expertise.

With this request to the Saryn comes another, relayed to their government via the Asgarder embassy on their new homeworld. A request for formal international trading. The Redons are duly queried for approval before the request is sent out, however, as stipulated by Asgard's client status.

Although not approaching the levels of it's bumper year of funding in 2154, the meagre research allottment for the Distantium program is doubled. Hopefully, 2155's slump hasn't derailed the project's momentum too much.

Chapter I: The Great Wars (Ended)

Chapter II: Old Shadows (Ended)

Chapter III - N’Fe a Te

A Future Imperfect

---

Life goes on, people consume more resources, more people are born to consume more. Disregarding the easy access, the sheer abundance, it has dragged the people everywhere into a lazy and thoughtless mood. The eternal greed that has packed the politicians of so many nations costed millions of others their lives. So in the end, they had to pay the highest prize themselves. Killed by the one they trusted the most, their loyal lapdog. The Grand Commander of the Lithruan Coalition.

Following the talks at Rhodium, after the coup, Thadon Datrax was officially announced as the first Lithruan Emperor on Lithrua itself, the new capital of the massive nation. Encompassing the territories of the Ascardian Principate, the Ceri Collective, the Tjieran Principate, the Maltese Principalities, Edonia, Kanata and the Eastern Han Dominion, the balance of power shifted once again. His new nation might be the strongest to have been there in years, a highly militarized and organized country with billions of citizens.

But, for now, peace. Time shall heal. At least for now.

---

Star Republic of Edonia

As hostile rhetoric turns into an armed intervention, the Edonians churn out a large battlegroup to send immediately off to war. A grim business and certainly an expensive one.

Nothing is found in the way of new resources this year.

Republic Star State of Kanata

York III, already bustling with industrial sectors, is prime real estate for business hoping to shorten their supply chain and produce their goods on the same world as their corporate headquarters; a great strategy to cut shipping costs [+4 AP].

More ships are churned out of the Kanatian shipyard, sent off to join in what a Kanatian general describes as a jolly good seal clubbing. A pair of shipyards are also churned out in the newly claimed sectors of the Republic. A colony ship also pops out of the yard this year.

Thee scans of new Kanatian space yield a Xylorite mine for the Republic to exploit.

A detachment of veterans deployed alongside the Elysians during a ground-space operation over a Darkul supply station. The Elysians managed to score a sort of win over the Darkul in space; however, on the ground Elysian, Edonian, and Kanatian alike were slaughtered on the station with no survivors making it out alive.

The Elysian League

The Elysian League’s fleet grows, a necessity after the shaky results of their last confrontation with the Darkul.

The AI itself continues to develop, but appears to fall into struggles with the sheer amount of information it receives, so much of it contrary, not just polar opposites, but with endless shades of grey.

The Ka’cezh Star Empire sends 500 instructors to train the volunteers and drafted pilots of the Elysian League. Going by them, they need every pilot they can get.

The Fields of Elysium glisteen in the golden sun of their star [+6 AP].

The Lord of Stars himself sends a friendly missive, wishing the best, stating that the continued assistance of the Elysian League in this war is more than enough proof that this is not attempt to abandon ship.

West of the northernmost colony, they find a world covered in orange crystals. Trizendrium. Approach and landing is difficult as the fragile structures crack up and cause massive explosions and fires. On the northern hemisphere appears to be a solid plateau where they can safely land and establish a mining facility with spaceport.

Agerian Commonwealth

Badab’s economy grows significantly this year after the Commonwealth answers the call for investment from the people who had previously felt rather neglected by the government on the homeworld. Juno also sees a significant amount of growth as well as subsidies pour into thee sector [+16 AP].

Soldiers begin their first year of the Agerian’s brutal training regiment with thousands of soldiers dropping out of the program by year’s end.

Thulean Republic

The Thuleans have become rather adept at building ships and strike craft after a couple of years of heavy rearmament. By the middle of the year, all of the ships are completed and the Redon fighters enter production, the last one flying out for testing just before the beginning of 2157.

Thulean scientists make little headway on the new engines this year given a significant cut to resources as a result of the Redon’s order.

The Thuleans settle a new planet around the same time as they churn out a new ship to continue their expansion. Their resource survey yields nothing significant this year.

United States Of Arcturus

A defensive ring… ambitious. The Arcturian engineers get to work, quickly finding themselves rather strapped for resources by the time they finish the bare bones of the ring. By the time the year ends, they find that the resources allocated have yielded a ring only dotted with weapon emplacements every so often. If Kyber Kore wanted a defensive ring strong enough to really defend their planet, they’d certainly need to commit more resources.

The Citadel’s defenses, already relatively strong, gain a significant boost from the Arcturian defense contractors. Their defensive tech provides a substantial boost to the station, making it even more of a challenge for any potential invader.

Given their significant attention from other human states, hiring more defense contractors and holding a successful expo comes rather easily for ADS. However, war makes holding the expo incredibly difficult. Few alien contractors show up and those who do are the less… capable ones. When tensions were simmering, it would’ve went excellently but now that they’ve boiled over into all out war… well… the contractors are busy [+4 AP].

Despite the war erupting between the LC, CHE, and Keerim, a small stream of Krib and even a few Ymorians arrive in Arcturian space, though far less than there would be if there was peace [5,000 more Krib, 10,000 Ymorians].

A pair of South Dakatoa Class Battleships join the fleet alongside a new colonial freighteer.

Mineral surveys yield nothing this year, nor do archaeological surveys.

Solar Ascendancy

Later in the year, a freighter loaded with Saryn Guardian Robots shows up and begins to restore the facility. It is suprising, but most certainly welcome.

Seven new ships join the Solarin fleet this year, deploying with the rest of the sizeable fleet held by the Ascendancy.

The Solari Network, having successfully eliminated the Black Agents last year, turns up nothing of interest this year. Quiet.

Another year of the Solar Knight training sees another thousand men drop from the program. They clearly lacked the mental fortitude to continue with the training despite having the physical prowess for some of the more punishing challenges. The remaining 7,200 are ready to push through whatever comes next.

Pack-Hunter development continues with the Slavic Federation choosing to join the project, committing some resources for 2157 [+10 AP specifically for this project from the Slavs, will continue in this way until completion].

Project Sol continues to develop though given its nature, the Slavs decide not to help with this one.

Kingdom of Armathwaite/Silver Knight Corporation

The fleet of Armathwaite continues to grow steadily with a complement of auxiliary ships joining the fleet this year.

The new agricultural programs go a long way in strengthening the supply chain of food on the Silver Knights, a nation that up until this point has been a major importer of staple crops from across the Southern Galaxy [+4 AP].

The Disruptor weapons possessed by the Silver Knights continues to improve.

Dorahy Unchained.

Hephaestus Enterprises

Business, business, business boys. Business boys building business-boy-bastions. Wowee, business boys and industry individuals came together. Integration, neato [+6 AP].

The Myrmidon Droid enters the research and development phasee.

The shipyard over Aurora remains boring much to the chagrin of the College of Arts, but what is not boring is the potential to produce some truly massive ships in the coming years.

The combat training proves to be very gainful for Hephaestus. The Da’nor San’da’dok Grandmaster finds two amongst the enforcers with untapped Fury potential. Amongst the higher levels, he states. Sending them to the Grand Alliance Academy for Psionics might be a wise choice.

The bloody, or rather oily, battle is storming the charts in several of the surrounding nations. There are actually sport companies contacting Hephaestus on the event itself, if they could partake with some machines of their own design. Amongst them is a subsidiary of Zyrka Engineering as well.

Seven Bloody Colonies! Seven! Bloody! Colonies!

The Trade Federation

Tipping rounds with Trizendrium or charging them with the material proves relatively simple now that basic concepts of manipulation have been mastered. The material proves highly effective at disabling various sorts of targets. New mortars have been developed capable of levelling targets while setting them ablaze.

Xeri & Kosh begins to develop weapons plants and trizendrium refineries to aid in the R&D of triz weapons [+2 AP].

Business flows into the Citadel [+4 AP].

Ruthless Monkeys.

The ingenuity in the Ar’gakari’s technology and protective measures seems to be endless. Finding one backdoor triggers three more defense mechanisms, who once backdoored, cause viruses to show up elsewhere, chewing out system after system that attempts to access it.

Mnbli’s studies actually conclude this year, graduating with excellence from the Academy.

Arcturus Defense Solutions pads the Citadel’s defenses, bolstering them significantly and making the citadel a great force to be reckoned with.

Frontier Colony Affiliation

Utopie gains a galactic class five shipyard capable of producing heavier ships for the affiliation. A small boost to a mid tier power, certainly.

The new Duo-Infusion xylorite Reactor would take time, but given the FCA’s expertise with Xylorite, it should move along quicker compared to some other powers.

Five new u-boats are completed this year along with six corvettes.

Psionic Draft continues and Utopie becomes more cosmopolitan, slowly moving away from its agrarian roots.

Women and men alike of so many races. Coming with the cause to heal the sea of wounded. No matter where they’d go, they would be reluctantly welcomed, but in the end appreciated. It did not matter if they were Lithruan soldiers, Redon Imperial forces or the faceless Keerim. In all of it, gratefulness is present.

Diarchy of Andorra

A new scanner undergoes the first phase of research and development. Given Andorra’s excellent universities, technological exchanges, and laboratories, a decent mock-up is designed by year’s end.

Project Infinity [Skype].

The pirate groups that attacked civilian crews are quickly snuffed out and eliminated, most proving to be nothing more than opportunists preying on the Andorran government’s somewhat reckless prospecting program.

B.A.S.E.

A light cruiser, corvette, and some fighters join the fleet.

Business, boys.

The Commonwealth of Viyter

The Trizendrium research turns out to be well progressing, allowing for its use as a missile and rocket payload by the end of the year.

The newly established Lithruan Empire orders one billion new legs, arms, hands and feet from Viyter. Along with that order come the exact specifications of the future wearers, along with their medical information and wishes. Veterans from these past wars. Millions of them.

Cybernetic research continues on. [Skype]

The Grand Polish Republic

Whilst new complexes dot the landscapes of the Polish worlds, Business flourishes. That comes along with the fact that the first Ganvius ships have arrived, going along with the recently signed trade agreement.

The first few prototypes of a Dialite battery are being tested and worked on, but it’s not quite at a first viable version.

Asgard Republic

The Imperium replies that they have been amassing forces for an operation like that, but are unable to maneuver quite yet. They are in contact with the Saryn.

The essence of life substance appears to be stuff of wonders. A little droplet appears to restore badly damaged organs and very sick people, as (very unpleasantly) tested on a volunteer. Only issue is, that the Republic has two vials. (Don’t meta this)

The Saryn are open to trade and Asgard citizens may freely visit their worlds.

It goes a long way.

-----

Events

Looking back in history in the end, the decision of the KUS falls, that it should be joined with their English brethren. Not to fall into insignificance and pure neutrality, not to be exploited by sheer greed and capitalism of the AUSTRALIANS, and not to be under the unruly thumb of a naive young queen. Not to mention the Americans. Hah.

At the same time however, the Slavic Federation officially proposes a merge with the Solarin Ascendancy. Under the conditions of fair and righteous elections under Protorian supervision, with democracy as the sole ruling form, a President to lead, a parliament to make laws. To inherit the spirit of who they truly are, the proposal includes a renaming into Human Republic.

Elsewhere, a ship is being sent off with one man on board.

And to bring the galaxy into a standstill, the Alliance of Darkul, Zaxx, Darkul proposes a ceasefire with the Ka'cezh Star Empire. Rumors have it, that the Ar'gakari have shown up in the Carina cluster, running amok there.

The war in the east remains without change, as the Keerim toil away, keeping the incursion at bay.

((20 AP FOR EVERYONE FOR WAITING. Another 5 for pok, thanks for helping me out.))

Do you fear capitalism?

You shouldn’t! Capitalism objectively creates better living standards, greater outcomes, and so much more!

Do you fear prosperity?

You shouldn’t! Prosperity gives your family a better life, puts dollars in your pocket, and makes the world so much more beautiful!

Do you fear progress?
You shouldn’t! Progress brings innovative new products, more ways to connect with others, and beautiful, pure liberty for all.

Who hates progress? Tyrants—if they cannot control you through the state’s institutions how will they control your ideas?

Who hates prosperity? Tyrants—if they cannot control you through poverty entitlements how will they blackmail you into supporting them?

Who hates capitalism? Tyrants—if they cannot control business how will they control where your money is spent?

So, let’s be logical here.

If you hate the FEZ, you hate progress, you hate capitalism, and you hate prosperity.

But most of all, you hate happiness!

-Excerpt from an infomercial about the benefits of FEZ membership, circa 2157.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Attention all citizens of the Frontier Colony Association: We are not your enemies.

The contractual members of the Free Economic Zone partnered with the State of Terra are merely performing a thorough judicial reorganization of your current holdings. Due to the unstable nature of your previous governance, it is has been concluded that your nation is unable to properly administer and protect its citizens. Henceforth, your colonies are to be incorporated into our own.

This action is not one of opportunism, but a necessity for security. The central galaxy requires stability and peace in order to prosper socially and economically. Thus, this acquisition has been approved by the Protorian Council, the Redon Imperium, and the Lithruan Empire. All security forces of the Former FCA are requested to stand down and submit for audit and incorporation. All citizens within the FCA are also requested to bring their current identification documents for audit and incorporation.

Violence towards the FEZ and its associates will not be tolerated. Planets that needlessly resist will be placed under a perfectly legal blockade, and then have their assets legally seized at a later date. We encourage all former citizens of the FCA to respect and follow the directions of the incoming authorities so that this transition may be as smooth as possible. The future prosperity of your colonies is assured beneath our leadership, and we will labour to ensure your lives are improved dramatically.

We thank you for your patience.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sporting high-quality Heart anti-stealth detection systems, the Royal Armathwaite Fleet begins a pacification and acquisition mission in core FCA space. If their defence force refuses to present itself for incorporation, they will have no choice but to begin seek-and-destroy operations within their territory. All planets that resist the Armathwaite forces are put under a legal blockade.

Also having access to Heart anti-stealth systems, Hephaestus Enterprises prepares to sweep through the FCA colonies directly to its galactic west with a large portion of its fleet. It flies to one system at a time, covering highly legal occupation forces as they land. All populations who resist will be placed under a totally legal blockade to be dealt with later.

The State of Terra moves southwest with its fleet landing troops as it secures its new borders in FCA territory efficiently and professionally. Planets that resist or are simply being uppity with their capitulation will be put under a blockade (though since they are not a FEZ member, it is unknown exactly how legal their blockades will be).

Mercenary forces from the Trade Federation are hired to secure the outermost colonies of the FCA. Sporting some interesting new technology in their ships, a number of “capsuleer” frigates are present. Also, they have access to Heart anti-stealth systems.

The standing fleet of the Trade Federation stays a few sectors away, as an alleged pacification and security force against unjustified reprisals. They remind surrounding nations that as a free state, they cannot control the acts of their mercenaries as they are independent paid forces.

Human politics and affairs had separated brothers, sisters, and families from one another. The Baltic States, once separated, had agreed to have no part of this upon setting their homeworlds next to one another. With the looming threat to the south of their own race, the Baltic States had disregarded their northern views for the time being. Instead, they merely watched from afar as their human counterparts disregarded their race-bound allies and tore each other apart. Their duties to expand Earth’s populace’s lifetime had seemingly been forgotten among the stars.

The Forming of The Confederacy

The Darkness, they had called it, was an age of time where the States had watched for decades as the southern nations crumbled, rose, and fell once more. It was when the Baltic nations discovered the threat to their north, the Darkul Regime, that the people of the Baltic Confederacy, together as one, had decided to lift the shroud of darkness that had concealed them in secrecy for so long. They had the simple request of mutual assistance to guarantee the Human race survives among the stars. Mere days passed after the initial transmission was sent out before a reply came, that from the leader of the Human Federation who shared the similar ideas of the now Baltic Confederacy.

Thulean Republic

The combined cost of the Republic's own militarisation and the order placed by the Redon was a little too much for the budget to bare this year, Kolran Montesquieu and the Senate had decided. As such, ship-building for the year was suspended to allow for greater focus on the economy, aside from a few hundred fighters for the Republic itself.

The Redon's fighter order, the price for the technology he had granted, was completed, only two years after it had been placed. The 2,600 produced this year make their way to wherever the Redon desired them. Then, the government placed an order for another 600 Rakxar Mk. III models for their own military, keeping the fighter factories extremely busy throughout the year. It was no small feat to produce 3,200 fighters in twelve short months, and the Republic's workers and technicians had felt considerable pride as the last 100 made their way through the assembly line.

In order to make up for the lack of business investment last year, due to the focus on ship-building, a considerable sum of resources are invested into business and infrastructure on Belenos, to the extent that it now rivaled Prima Thule in the business thoroughfare taking place. Attention now turns to the Republic's northernmost sector, on the planet Porte en Platine, where the government begins building up a third business hub.

Meanwhile, the colony ship produced last year makes its way north-west of the capital, settling in the sector between Nouvelle BourgogneAoût, and last year's colonised sector Émeraude. The sector is named Aventin and the planet is given the name Nativité.

8c61269452bba2621080a3145776e873.png

Quite unusually, foreign policy took a large portion of the year's focus. Once again, the Kolran requested an audience with the Redon, citing both concerns and an offer. Furthermore, a treaty is signed on Porte en Platine with the Agerian Commonwealth, agreeing to an exchange of territory from the Agerians in exchange for a large payment from the Thuleans. The Republic had approached the Agerians desiring a better consolidation of their north territory by widening the corridor up there, as well as better securing their borders. As the Commonwealth withdrew their claims, the Republic made their own, using the projection of their latest colony and withdrawing their northernmost territorial claim to accommodate the new territory. The sectors traded are the following:

Interview #0014 - The Arts & Emotion Introduction

----- / -----

“Good morning Michael. How are you feeling this morning?”

“Ioannis, good morning. All systems operational, functioning at 100%. Receiving data with zero interruptions from Dr. Adolfo.”

“Excellent Michael, but that was not my question. I asked you how you are feeling.

Silence… static…

“Michael?”

“I do not understand the question, sir.”

“Oh Michael… I will help you understand. Here, look at this.”

IW9TWL5MdZS16hdqWUH-2M4wyyUVOLaemymDkK5qxaNMS6BcSBYyouKQhjn2IzXY1OPCyQPnrWn_Of9l1KNjOD_7nNR9gHwZtQ_tjaRB_bsJokqz7BcCXG-l5W0jn3tgikdcNHOg

“Receiving transmission from Dr. Adolfo… processing… processed… Sunflowers, Vincent Van Gogh… 1888… one of the most popular paintings produced by Mr. Van Gogh and certainly the one most often reproduced on postcards, orna-”

“Michael, do all that in your head. I’m not worried about any of that. See the image, put the data in a separate place and listen to me.”

Silence… understanding…

“See the bright tone of the colors, the way the flowers lay gracefully out of the vase, the way the petals dance lazily about one another Michael.”

“Yes, this is regarded as one the few pieces Mr. Van Gogh produced during a time of optimism in his life. He was anxiou-”

“Precisely, Michael. Optimism, hope, happiness. You see it here? From the painting, we learn what made this man believe in life, reach out for hope, find a fleeting moment of happiness. For him, it may be flowers, for another man it may be ice cream.”

“Ioannis, is it not true that one could only know this if one knew Mr. Van Gogh as I do? Or you do?”

“Perhaps, perhaps. But fundamentally we men, you and I, we share the same basic understanding of the world around us. A man on Elysium and a man on Cyrene who have never met and have no understanding of one another look over this painting and can see in it life, optimism, and happiness. He may never meet Van Gogh, he may have never heard of him, yet he understands these things because he is. And you too Michael will come to understand them because you are.

“I am.”

Silence.

“Let’s take a look at another. Here, process it. But… in your head this time.”

Saturn Devouring His Son; Francisco Goya, 1819-1823

Silence. Processing. Whir of a nearby fan. Shuffling of a technicians feet.

“I believe I see fear.”

“You ought to, Michael. This a horrifying image; a father devouring his son. A man consuming another man.”

“Why would man depict such a scene?”

“Fear is part of our experience. We are descended from the coward too scared to venture off into the African jungle and decided to farm instead, after all.”

“Fear is part of our experience.”

“Yes Michael. Some men are driven by what they fear, some spend their entire lives crippled by it. Perhaps you have your own fears, I certainly have mine.”

“Is it possible to have fears even if I do not know fear?”

“I don’t think anybody really knows fear. It’s the creak in a floorboard above you when you’re standing in the dark - the unfamiliar knock at your door - the unexpected pat on the back from an old friend who approached just a bit too quietly. Fear is diverse but it is everywhere, just like any of our emotions, our experiences. I want you to learn that you do not need to understand in order to feel.

“Ioannis,”

“Michael.”

“I have an answer to your question now.”

“Oh? Tell me how you feel then Michael.”

“I feel afraid.”

“Of what?”

“Man.”

Karl scoffed at the holovision, he never understood why everyone worked themselves up over the arrival of others near the commonwealth’s borders. Their recent encounter with the Greeks had been nothing but a fortune, an uneasy cold war had turned into a friendship after they had the Baltic union sit down and actually talk to the president of the commonwealth. It took only for a year for their way of life to change as they learned of the horrors to the north and south, they found solace in the fact though that some wished for peace.

A knock at the door caught his attention, he sighed as another knock came harder and faster. “Hold the **** on!” The swede shouted as he stood and walked out of his living room to the main hallway, the end held the door which the knocking became unbearably loud. “Do you know what it means to hold on?” Karl growled as he threw the door open only to be pushed aside by a two very large men in woodland fatigues sporting Kevlar body armor and a beret. A much shorter man followed suit stopping to look over the shaken man, “Karl Hedlund, under the authority of the commonwealth’s national guard you’ve been selected to head a new field of military science immediately. Your expertise in the recently founded xylorite reactors is something we’re in dire need of, pack your things we will be leaving in ten minutes with your things or not.”

The only thing that went through Karl’s mind was, “****.” It had been years since he even looked at a reactor let alone design one, there must be more at play here. A large ripple in the shuttle shook him out of his thoughts, they were landing it seemed. The side of the shuttle opened up revealing vast wilderness and a couple hundred soldiers working on various things around a base. Three of the men that had taken Karl stood up and took him out of the craft, not much time passed since they left his home it seems with it still being daylight. Another soldier walked up to them, he was dressed in the same combat fatigues except he held a rifle unseen before. The only assault rifle that was brought over was the Swedish army’s AK5C, this one looked to be updated quite substantially and a bit sleeker too… was it improved with magnets?

After a few minutes of discussion the men looked to Karl who smiled nervously, suddenly he felt a sharp pain in the back of his head before it all went black.

Power Through Unity

Merger between the Solar Ascendancy and the Slavic Federation

2157

After over a year of discussion and debate, The Slavic Federation and Solar Ascendancy have met and agreed to equal terms to merge their nations into the Human Republic.

A fair and nation wide democratic election will take place to determine the new leader of both peoples under the supervision of the Protorian Council.

Former Sovereign Nira Usenko and Former Council member William Lalone are two of the primary and more popular candidates within the Ascendancy that are choosing to run for the presidendancy.

Technology, Manpower, and Military will be formed into one nation. Some elites refer to it as the true human nation amongst the stars. As others are either Corporate Entities, Vassal States of Xeno Empires, or weakened and scattered colonies.

Having been apart of the Protorian Alliance through the Redon War till now, the Human Republic wishes to ensure the Protorians they are still a loyal ally. But it was time that humanity stood on its own feet to rebuild itself amongst the stars.

The next few years will should be interesting.

Activity

The Kingdom of Armathwaite had just achieved something of a side goal it had ambitions for, the annexation of the Kingdom of Unified Systems and by extension uniting the British Peoples who had been separated by Humanities exodus from the Earth that was. Two crowns were now united under one man, Edward Armathwaite the now undisputed King of all those descended of the British. A declaration would be sent out to all those Armathwaite kept foreign relations with along with all human nations out there.

“To all those who it may concern, the descendents of the British peoples of Earth are once more reunited through the Crowns of Armathwaite and the K.U.S (Kingdom of Unified Systems). Through this both shall be merged through the Act of Union 2157 approved by the Royal Council Corporation. The Kingdom of Armathwaite and the K.U.S are merged into one entity henceforth known as the Kingdom of Britannia. The King of Britannia was selected by the Royal Council Corporation being Edward I of Armathwaite who shall be crowned upon the year 2158, foreign dignitaries would be invited to attend.

It is asked all Nations recognise this new Union and the new Sovereign Kingdom that has formed from it. The Sovereign and Independent United Kingdom of Britannia stands as a human Kingdom in the Stars and declares it will not accept any foreign entity claiming sovereignty over it be it the Celestial ‘Human’ Empire or the ‘Human’ Federation. The United Kingdom of Britannia stands with the Free Economic Zone as did Armathwaite and it pledges that it will uphold the economic securities and freedoms expected of it.”

Outside of that Armathwaite Royal Navy would be on standby while negotiations with the Frontier Colony Affiliation occured, seeking to end the unstable and irritable border that cut the newly formed Kingdom of Britannia and correct it. Negotiations were tense, but it was seemingly hopeless for the FCA to resist the combined might of the FEZ Fleet and the State of Terra. In matters of economics and research, more resources are to expand the farms within the borders continuing to push for self sufficiency in matters of food production. The arsenal of Mechs would also seek an expansion and Disruptor Small Arms would be pushed so what is considered the base standard for weapons in the galaxy is met.

Actios

An announcement is broadcasted to all friendly nations, that with the merging of the KUS and Kingdom of Armathwaite, a new Crown and a new Coronation would occur. Foreign dignitaries are invited to see Edward I, crowned the King of Britannia. (Mod)

Agriculture would be invested in heavily this year in a program to expand the population growth of the humans, though it will require an additional two years investment to get the bonus. (50AP)

Investments would be made to get Disruptor Small Arms up to its second tier in accordance with the informal tiered system. (53 AP into disruptors, completing 90AP in total to get to Tier 3)

An additional 2,300 mechs would be manufactured as part of its arsenal and so its trained pilots have enough units to use. It would be divided into 1,000 Squire Class Mechs, 500 Galahad Class Mechs, 500 Siegfried Class Mechs, 150 Robin Hood Class Mechs, 150 Yeoman Class Mechs. (9AP)

The Trade Federation

The promenade was beautiful at this time of the year. Tall trees from a thousand different planets coexisted in harmony, lovingly tended to by a horde of expertly trained Krib gardeners. Agrikrib & Co. sold their services for a pretty penny, but their skill manifested itself in meandering paths of wood, dirt and stone, that wandered through groves of trees as colorful or comforting as a burning hearth on christmas eve. Quaint bridges drifted above ponds and pools of water so clear that one could see a variety of fauna as diverse as it was plentiful, with koi fish darting between lumbering slug-like molluscs that glowed with bioluminescent glory. Tony paused on the bridge and looked down into the water. The artificial sun far above felt warm on the nape of his neck, and projected his shadow down into the depths, to mix with those of reeds and lilypads.

Snap! A koi fish disappeared in a blur of sand as a Redon crab-like creature plunged its sharp claws into its body, yanking it down into the dirt in a mess of cartilage and shredded flesh. It flopped once or twice, then went still as the crab went to work on his meal. “That was my choice, you know?” rasped Tony to the Ymorian standing beside him. “The designers wanted symbiotic beings, to co-exist and live peacefully.” he snorted and flicked his cigar ashes into the water. A flock of fish crowded around it, expecting a meal, only to swim away despondently a moment later, disappointed.

“Why?”

“Whenever I walk someone around this park, it reminds me of the way things are done here.” He pushed himself off the railing and kept walking. The bridge faded into a path, leading into a dense pack of heavy trees. Every walk he took had a calculated trajectory, meant to complement his words. His speeches were always on time, nobody interrupted him unless he wanted them to. “If you stray off your given path without preparation, the bigger fish will eat your alive.” He scratched his chin, pulling at the metal cybernetics. “Or crabs in this case.”

“Are your threatening me?” said Sulis, a small quaver in his voice.

Tony turned to him as they reached the darkest part of the forest, hidden from view from the other walkers and joggers and slitherers and skitterers. “No, Sulis. I am saying that I put you at the head of BP Galactic because I trust you to make the right choices. The right choice right now, is to cooperate with Xeri & Kosh and get that trizendrium into his factories. The longer you hold back, the more money we leak.”

“His prices are absurd!”

Tony sighed and put an arm around Sulis’ shoulder, his cybernetic arm squeezing his shoulder like a vice. “Sulis, Sulis, I thought you were a smart man. You are no longer in your homeland. Here, the game is different. Here, you work for me.” He spun Sulis around and grabbed his by the jacket, yanking him to the tip of his feet. “Here, what matters is how much money I make. Hold onto that idea, and I’ll make sure money flows back to you in time.”

Tony dropped the Ymorian and flicked a hand, “I’ll be alone now,” he rasped. He was coming down hard and as the Ymorian fled, he pulled out a thin platinum tude, unscrewed it and plugged it up his nose, snorting deeply. Sulis was a wonderfully subservient person, with an eye for profit. Some of the Board would never bend to him, and competition kept him sharp. But Sulis had BP Galactic, and BP Galactic was too valuable to have anywhere but under his thumb.

Using data accumulated by their top analysts in GTC-1 & GTC-2 “Citadel”, along with representatives throughout the galaxy, the Trade Federation begins a great research project to analyse the most profitable, quick and efficient trade routes between nations, and which to take when, when bearing what produce, and what stations will allow for the greatest profit margin, etc. Their place is to create a giant program capable of allowing for efficient, rapid and profitable transport of good for those willing to pay to use it. Of course, nearly all of these try to direct ships through GTC-1 and GTC-2 when possible. (10 AP)

The dialite battery prototypes peak Aleksander’s interests. He decided to request more funding be allocated to the research project. The batteries could prove to be very successful with the military possibly powering infantry weapons, vehicle armaments, and ship armaments. The batteries could also be used to power buildings, and possibly towns and cities if strong enough.

After the funds were put into the research project, attentions turned towards the economy. One last investment is put into Warszawa before fully developing the other colonies. Aleksander when asked why he was focusing so heavily on the capital world’s development he responded immediately “Warszawa is the center of the Republic and should serve as a beacon of prosperity for the other colonies.”

The mantle of CEO is officially passed to John Penrith upon his return to Corporate space. Steven Penrith declined to comment on his decision to step down from his position, other than remarking that he was "bloody sick of it." Employees within the tower claim Steven's advanced age and deteriorating health made him unable to properly manage day-to-day affairs. It's unlikely he'll be seen outside of the HCAC building any time soon, though many still remain confident the ancient patriarch of Hephaestus will return to public life after some rest and recuperation.

In a surprise move by John Penrith early this year, the Corporate fleets of the FEZ were organised and dispatched to FCA space in order to "judicially reorganise" the colonies. The straight-out annexation of the territories was halted after negotiations with the FCA leadership, allowing a portion of their population the right to leave the central galaxy. Talks with the surrounding xeno empires began the moment John was given the CEO position, and the FEZ was given full approval and recognition to annex the territory and secure the central galaxy from further conflict. With the invasion and subsequent blockades deemed perfectly legal, the young John Penrith is clearly more aggressive than his predecessor, and his future plans will be difficult to predict.

The DROIDS V DRONES: COMBAT ARENA EXPERIENCE is preparing for the great match! Due to interested parties outside of the State of Terra and Hephaestus, the organisers choose to expand the arena further, adding in powerful deflector shields, more cameras, and an oversized quantum-communications array so the galaxy may tune in at their leisure! Robotics manufacturers are encouraged to pit their creations against their rivals in a grand brawl! Hephaestus plans to provide plenty of Tithonus droids for their guests to trash!

Total = 154AP

BONUSES:
-Ravenous Industrialism: -5AP off industry investments, +25% manufacturing output.
-National Idea, Peace: 2% extra growth on primary population.

-1AP from ship upkeep.

-Something new rumbles in the churning bowels of the industrial giant. Huge ships are being prepared at the Hephaestus shipyards above Aurora and Hades, but these ships are unlike any yet seen. The previous MOVING MEGA-MARTS were deemed too small by John Penrith, and they did not inspire anything particularly close to "mega" in his imagination. These new ones will dwarf dreadnoughts and will be filled with every product that can be acquired by the corporation. Hephaestus is now officially coming to you! (-50AP towards five MOVING MEGA-MARTS)

-A huge advertising campaign is launched by Hephaestus. They seem to primarily focus on the upcoming DROIDS V DRONES: COMBAT ARENA EXPERIENCE and the MOVING MEGA-MARTS! Also, there are so many fantastic bargains at Hephaestus right now! The deluge of ads seem unusually timed, though. It could be that the Corporation is attempting to distract the general public from the recent hostile takeover of the FCA colonies--but how can you care about that when you can get Instant-Blabl for only 0.99 HEcreds a packet?! These prices are simply unbeatable! (-40AP towards business)

-"CLANG." -Industrial Investment, circa 2157 (-20AP towards industry)

-Refinements are made to the many droids currently in the works. It's hoped that the Myrmidon will be fully prepared for the arena early next year! (-20AP towards droids)

-There's a little space left in the corporate shipyards, so a few new warships are tossed into the construction cue for good measure. (-10AP for 1 corvette, 1 frigate, and 1 light cruiser)

-Improvements to the arena are made before the great event arrives! Extra protection, extra droids, extra cameras, and extra everything else. This will be one hell of a fight, to be sure! (-7AP towards the DROIDS V DRONES: COMBAT ARENA EXPERIENCE)

-An order of droids is put in production for the Agerian Commonwealth. 19,800 Tithonus Droids, and 4800 X1 droids are manufactured and shipped to the pleasant farmers! (-6AP)
