4AP - Colony ship constructed and dispatched to the Dialite-rich world on the Saryn border. It is named Fortuna. The Saryn are duly informed so they don't get the wrong idea, but after all they have not previously contested the Asgarder territorial claim to this region of space. Colonisation proceeds without waiting for a response. Knowing from general knowledge what dialite is, research outposts are established in orbit to experiment with it as a fuel source for ships and power-grids. Mining infrastructure is brought in whole by surface-to-orbit heavy lifters, and both the state resource companies and private interests begin to survey the spoils. A small colonial settlement is constructed, while the rest of the world is populated extremely sparsely for the time being. Biodomes to produce vast amounts of oxygen and food on a world so lifeless and far from its parent star will take time to mature - until then, oxygen, food and water are shipped in from the homeworlds, while freelance mining craft will be well compensated for running water-ice to the thirsty pioneers.

2AP - With the state of the galaxy in turmoil, investment is put into the standing army. Utilising modified designs of various power armour inspirations (or Kalronian heavy armour if possible), 4000 soldiers are recruited and equipped as Heavy infantry. They are equipped with the plentiful kalronian plasma weapons in stores from the occupation.

1AP - A purchase is paid to Hephaestus for 8250 standard-issue Tithonus combat droids, a significant upgrade from the decades old Solarin hunter bots currently in use.

25AP - The new government begins to invest VERY heavily into encryption and decryption technology. Cyber-security, and by extension cyber-warfare, will likely be critical and often unexplored avenues in future conflicts. Rumours already fly about Saryn technology capable of instantly hacking the systems of lesser nations, and while conflict with them is both unlikely and HIGHLY undesirable, that capability would be very useful in the hands of a nation unable to yield vast numbers and firepower, like Asgard.

10AP - Essence of Life research. Psychics for hire, preferably with bio-medical experience, are sought and contracted from telepath-rich nations. Perhaps the Essence of Life is psionically active? They are put to work analysing minute samples with their abilities. Work on replicating it with more mundane methods also continues. (20AP)

11AP - Distantium. Time to get a working prototype for field testing! (60AP)

"The Board schemes against itself, their children bloodied for long-forgotten grudges. The Four Great Shareholders, for whom the name of the company is partially derived, stay in their towers of glass and steel, clawing away at the sky. The qilin roars at the heavens, its astral soul projecting a million li." - Excerpt from Dragons Swallow the Void

Actions [62 AP]

[10 AP] - As agreed upon by contract, 100 million SLH Yuan transfers into Han accounts, for the construction of five small freighters. Who knows, if the Han are efficient enough, they may even make a profit.

[1 AP] - A black-crystal credit card somewhere in the southern galaxy finds its source account refilled.

[6 AP] - Evergreen's CEO, Chen Mi, delightedly announces yet another CI400c entering construction queues. Its stock rises, but doesn't hold a lead for long.

[10 AP] - APL, after a year of inactivity, raises a p/o for both a CI400c and a CI200c, increasing BCHK's valuation to "buy". They also begin construction on another CI400c, though it isn't remotely close to finishing.

[20 AP] - Another two trade port sections open, as hungry 4T haulers look south for more entrants. Deemed the "Imperial Trade House", and shockingly enough funded by Peninsula Hotel Groups, SK, and Asus, its priority openings are for, well, empires:

The Darkul Empire

Zaxx Empire

Redons

Lithruan Empire

[10 AP] - Grand T'ai Trade Center's construction is announced by TSMC, Evergreen, Foxconn, and Gourmet Master Company, forming a sort of building coalition. They invite various southern powers to enjoy docking rights:

Protorian Council

Ganvius Nation

The Tassareans

[5 AP] - Construction this year slows on the SL6, a pitiful quarter of the previous year, and only half of what was originally going to be invested. Apparently, trade is too big an opportunity to pass up. [25/40 to SL6]

Agerian Commonwealth

The Agerian Commonwealth. A democracy yet also a vassal of a monarchy. A nation focused on the principle of peace and justice yet preparing for war. A country of contradictions but also one of inner strength.

Kolran Pedro Rebeiro looked down from his elevated position to see the military march beneath him. He could see lines of men, droids, and tanks cross through the Capital city, standing in neat formations showing discipline and unity. Whilst it did not matter much it would be a nice clip for the news and hopefully would inspire some enthusiasm for the war effort. Seeing the men walking through the streets, preparing to fight an extra-galactic enemy that threatened to destroy them all.

Many might call the sight and music behind it inspiring but Pedro just found it depressing. He saw the sights of these men and could not help but wonder how many would die in the coming war. How many would die due to his orders, how many families would be broken apart because of this foreign war?

These thoughts plagued heavily on Pedro's mind as he went to bed each night. Knowing that his decisions could make or destroy the lives of thousands of men and women. Sometimes he wondered if he should simply resign and leave the job to another man but no someone needed to this and it would be selfish to make someone else suffer this burden.

A burden, yes that is what a position of leadership is. Some in the public may not trust politicians, call them corrupt and only working for their self-interest and indeed some of them were(though not many). But generally most wanted to see the best happening for their nation and fellow citizens.

The issue was not that politicians did not have the interests of citizens in mind but that was not it. The issue was that there were different ideas of what was in the best interest of the citizens.

On the one hand, there were people saying he should only provide minimal support to the Redon, not let Agerian lives go to waste. On the other hand, there were those men who wanted the nation to go to total war and use all of its available manpower. Pedro wanted to get a middle ground, to provide the redon with sufficient support but also to keep the loss of life low. Which was why he was investing into getting better protection for the troops with personal shielding and to buy droids to take the brunt of an assault in some cases.

The advantage of giving the redon the first personal shield in possibly the history of the galaxy and with that some kind of reward for the nation was just a secondary advantage of course.

As he watched the men walking beneath him and he looked down upon them, portraying an image of strength he asked his scientific advisor. "How are things proceeding with the project ?"

Knowing that the Kolran was clearly referring to the personal shielding project the advisor quickly responded. "There is not much progress as of yet but that is to be expected. Seeing as we are developing technology even the older races of the galaxy do not have access to it is expensive and hard to show results. However, with the increased investments coming in I am sure we can have a prototype ready at the end of the year.

Pedro frowned at hearing this, a large part of the government budget was going into developing this project yet there seemed to be no payback as of yet. The main reason he was not stopping this project already was that it had been expected to be costly and the advantage it could provide would be huge. Still, a prototype would be sorely needed and soon.

Pedro then spoke again. "Mhm, it is unfortunate that there is not much progress yet." Pedro then turned to look directly at the scientific advisor and spoke again. "You should tell your fellow scientists that a prototype should be ready sometime in June, the Redon will not be as forgiving as I am." The scientist swiftly paled at that, he then spoke nervously.

"Uhm the Redon himself? You mean the one that is regarded as one of the most powerful men in the galaxy." To which Pedro nodded. "Indeed he is coming to visit all of the kolranates under his command. He will be visiting the Thuleans, the Asgardians and finally us. It would be beneficial to have a model ready to show the Redon. If we could manage to get the personal shielding ready we could save many lives of the Redon military."

The Kolran then turned to the marching troops once more and gave a resolute wave to the soldiers marching beneath him and said to the scientist, who was growing exceedingly worried. "Don't worry too much Heinrich, it is not like he will execute you or any of us." The Kolran then made sure that the camera had a proper angle of him and got a resolute and determined look. A nice bit of propaganda had never hurt anyone before.

Frontier Kolranate Affiliation

Tamas sat alone in his small chambers, brooding. He was onboard one of Hephaestus's mass transit ships. A gritty little poster showed the first landing of Hades, with some mementos. How the times have changed so quickly. Tamas mused. Last year he was nothing but a student of the Emperor's psionic university. Sure he had some important lineage, but never gave it much thought. The irony was lost that his grandmother Bianka Klinghoffer had spent most of her life killing Han. And now he and a select few were being herded like cattle from their homes. The community was divided on what to do. The former Prime Minister was urging for peace. He had even convinced to have Tamas give a speech. A speech that was in mere minutes. Tamas was deeply troubled on what to do. If they listened to the Prime Minister they'd all end up some Federation's slave. He mused the Minister only asked him because of his family name. Tamas stood up, and went to the unit's tiny closet. In it were two outfits. One, the Utopian style Jinyiwei agent uniform. The other, the students robes he had worn at the university. He stood there staring for a few minutes, at war with himself.

In a massive hangar he came to greet a portion of the population. Thousands of others were watching via High-Definition Hephaestus hologram recording. They could see this man in his strange robes walk onto the stage. He was tall and carried himself stiffly upright. Blazing purple eyes that ran through the family met any who stared. Yet he also looked like the young man in student robes he really was. The Prime Minister and his former cabinet applauded Tamas as he took to the podium. He seemed to ponder for a moment, then began;

"People of Utopie, listen to what I have to say. I thank the Prime Minister for offering me this opportunity to speak. We are facing the hardest times yet to be known. And it will only get worse from here. We have lived quiet and fulfilled lives in our beloved Affiliation. We have contributed to an Empire in hopes of forming a greater bond across the galaxy. And now we are being transported to an unknown fate. By the very people who kicked us off."

At this the Minister's face drops in surprise. He had thought the young student to be in his pocket. He made to gesture to some Shock Troops to cut if off. But other people from the crowd and Tamas's retinue in Jinyiwei robes intercepted. Many troops got strong psionic queries to remain still. Throughout all this the speech continued unabated.

"F.E.Z is not the enemy however. We did not fall because of their wanton aggression. We fell because of our own weakness. Our government, our Prime Minister, have conspired to ship our wealth off to foreign powers. Quite literally. We had stake to a massive Imperial Fleet. It is now dust in space, and the Empire is dead. And we find ourselves stripped of all protection. That ended the moment me and my class mates have come home. We have been trained by the Han, and many are Psionic. But we are not like the Minister. We will not allow their meddling to infect our very way of life. And so I call upon you to follow me, and ensure a bright future for Utopie"

The crowd is roaring their approval as the F.C.A's personal military finds themselves swarmed by the everyday citizens of Utopie. The students use their hard earned skills to subdue the crowd and halt any killing. They roam through the crowds, verbally and psionically calling for peace. After a few minutes the various crowds in their ships and military vessels retain order. The former government has been peacefully overthrown.

But now the question came as to what to do next. The following months had been very uncertain times. Many had advocated joining the human federation. The humans were most vocal, and Tamas had even attended some meetings in the federation's government. But the Solarin snake and the human's being a minority led to them pulling out. And then one day an aide ran into the command hub of the provisional government. All speech halted as she blurted out "Tamas! You have an incoming hail from The Redon"

--

Herr Tamas Klinghoffer surveyed the new world his people were laying claim to. It was massive, the only word able to describe it. Data showed it dwarfed old Earth by quite a margin. It even put Jatorak to shame. But sadly they were not to keep their lovely cities in the mountains. Instead it was a large continental world. It had a variety of biomes, some being very fertile. The settlers had established a makeshift city on a large island (almost a small continent) in the southern seas. The events following the Redon's message were all a blur.

Tamas and most of the alien community had responded with joy. They were the first to be offered a place amongst peers. They were not threatened to be forced vassals. It was an enormous honor from the Redon. They would become an official Kolranate in the Imperium. A duke was needed, and for many the obvious choice was Tamas. The Klinghoffer dynasty had always been a prominent family in Utopian politics. He was also a well trained Psionic, and educated. Duke Klinghoffer would be the ones to lead the survivors of Utopie to glory. Their new island city will of course be titled after it's name sake, Utopie.

One day scans had picked up a massive fleet incoming. But it was not for war. It was a massive Redon logistics fleet. The promised aid to the new Duke to rebuild. It was the groundworks for all plans to come. The place where the Frontier Kolranate's Story truly begins........

Crouched away in the heart of the Lithutan business sector stands a club like no other, where anybody who is anybody goes – Aurora Nightclub. Two bars span the length of the room, facing each other; countertops made of black granite and tempered glass, shiny and spotlessly clean. Framed by illuminated shelves made of glass, sustaining millions of bottles of alcohol. However, this is barely visible through the throngs of people dying to quench their thirst from the muggy underground air. In the back wall between the two bars is the VIP area which is even more luxurious, if at all possible, than the rest of the club. Lush leather chairs in sets of four surround an oddly shaped glass table; beside each stands a beautiful waitress wearing a stunning black dress, awaiting a command.

The flashing lights radiated in every possible colour, thrashing in all directions hitting the multiple mirrors surrounding the room. Though it might scare off the superstitious - to a young person in their peak of life, it only adds to the atmosphere. The odours of expensive perfumes blend in with the smell of alcohol and sweat, creating a stimulating aroma that lingers in the air. The sights of the fit bodies straight from Hollywood, in couture and runway fashion, dazzle the eyes as they look from right to left. In the centre of all the action, stands a black platform on which three beautiful go-go dancers capture the attention of everyone in the room. They make the energy bounce throughout, even into the washrooms where the casual lovers get acquainted. The disc-jockey table, which is responsible for all the noise, stands adjacent to the go-go dancer's platform; sleek, black and white, full of electrical wires, and yet posh enough to flow with the room. Nevertheless, none of this matters because the heart of the club is the dance floor, full of energy, people, sweat, tears, and glam – it’s where you’d want to be.

Aurora Underground Nightclub On Lithuta I

I, however, could care less. As alluring as they make it be, the dance floor repeals my gaze elsewhere. Near the edge of the room sits a plush red leather coated booth, an open seat on either side of the table between the wooden dividers. Luxuries were by no mean a new experience, though the seating certainly wasn’t anything to complain about. By the time I had already made an impact on the leather below one of the dozens of waitresses had already made herself known beside me. “Hi-ah honey! What can I get’cha?” The smile she gave me radiated beams of sunshine across the table before me, though what brought me back to reality was the snap of the notepad she held in her hand as she withdrew the pen from its hold. “Uh... Vodka-Sprunk, if you could.” A quick scribble later and she let out a giggle, “I’m sure I can do that for ya, sweet’ens.” Her U-turn away from the table gave way to a sight that couldn’t be rivalled by any number of sunsets on any other planet. Though, as fast as it graced me with its presence, it melted back into the dozens of bodies on the dance floor.

A chirpy, feminine voice caught my attention as I was staring down into the sky-blue glowing display of my Mobile. A woman stood beside my seat, though was obviously not apart of the Waitress platoon that wore skimpy outfits as they dealt with the daily denizens that seemed to live in the Aurora. Instead, she was beautifully… plain. Her face was by no means bathed in expensive florals nor was her dress bejazzled in sparkling jewels or fine linens. But rather, the beige tint of her dress brought out the sparkles of amber in the forest green eyes that sunk moderately into her cranium. A complete, fiery red highlighted row of white teeth sat below between them, complimenting the ruby necklace around her collarbone that couldn’t help but draw attention to her low-cut dress that squeezed into her curves from top to bottom.

It took what felt like an eternity of gawking before she repeated herself, “Is... Is someone sitting here?” Once more, she motioned to the seat across from the table from me. The question went through my head several times as if it had some sort of hidden meaning, though finally, I let out a reply. “Nah. Go ahead.” I waved my hand in welcome towards the seat, goading her to make herself comfortable across from me. It’s not like she needed the gesture, as she was already seated by the time I finished my reply. Her eyes stared back at mine curiously, before her lips cracked to a glimmering smile. “So, what’d you come here looking for?” She asked with a precarious look in her eye. I couldn’t help but shrug with a guilty smile, “A drink, I guess?” Seems like it was a worthy reply as she let out an earthy chuckle. “Long day at work?” She tilted her head as the words left her mouth, leaving me with a light tingle in my gullet with the simple motion. “Suppose you could say so.” I tipped my head forwards in confirmation. A light hum came from her as she nodded her head upwards. “If you’d want a drink, I’m sure a waitress will come by soon.” She waved her hand dismissively at the proposal, “I’ll find one around here somewhere.” Just as she finished speaking, the waitress returned, drink in hand, and set it between us, then vanished once more into the bodies.

I eyed the drink cautiously, then looked back up to her after a short moment of thought, “So, what's got you coming out here for?” The interest in my voice must’ve allured her as she looked down for a short moment, “Well… Maybe you could help me out with finding a reason?” Her eyes turned back towards mine as her bottom lip tucked itself behind her front pair of teeth. A chuckle caught itself in my throat at the nearly ridiculous question. I nodded slowly, eyeing her carefully, “Yeah... Yeah, think I can help you with that.” My eye twinged into a quick wink before I reached for the drink between us. Her hand, however, beat mine to the glass. It didn’t take her a moment longer before the glass was up against her lips, the contents draining down. The glass clacked down back onto the table between us dead empty, a red imprint of lipstick around the edge. I couldn’t help but laugh now as I nodded my head to the side.

“Well. Alright then.”

Spoiler

The greatest threat in the tundra is not that which lies without but that which lies within. Although it is a paradise of death and a snowy tomb for all but the most obdurate of men, the frigid cold is not the problem. You are.

All the psych evaluations, stamina training and modern equipment in the world won’t prepare you for what’s in store. You are entering a cadaverous-white crucible of death, a place where all the worst elements of nature have been excommunicated to. You will encounter starvation, sleeplessness, frostbite, dehydration and death- if you are lucky. If you are unlucky, you will die at the end of a slavering, alien-like polar bear’s fang or by falling down a snow hill in the shape of a troll’s tooth. There you will lie down in snow as cold as a barrow wight’s soul and wonder how any environment could hate life so much. The stultifying silence will be as eerie as the moonscape of white you gaze upon. The necrotic, gangrenous flesh of your broken leg will smell of sewers and old trash cans. In the tundras final irony, the colours of your leg will match the aurora above: blue, purple and green. You will look from one to the other, the sky a marvel and the leg a horror clip, and you will despair. Welcome to Vilnius VIII.

That is just one possible scenario. You see, the perils of the snowy wasteland are many and a slow, lingering death is just one of them. Whiteouts are just one of the many threats you face. You can be clumping along, your feet crunching the snow like popcorn exploding when the sky turns a bright, crystalline-white. The wind rises and keens like a screech-owl and you have to scramble to put your tent up. The sky belches out a rumbling sound like the drums of doom and you had better hurry. It’s your last warning. The snow whips across the desolate tundra and you are confined to your tent for an hour, a day, a week or any time of nature’s choosing. Inside the tent, the stove you brought to heat your food can kill you more insidiously than the frore air outside. Carbon monoxide poisoning is one of Vilnius VIII’s great ironies. Even the warmth that you provide for yourself needs careful monitoring. If you are not precise in your preparation and habits, you are destined to fail the test of the cold.

The real test of the tundra is your own mind, however. At night in your tent, you miss your friends and family. You begin to compose imaginary conversations with them. That is why the ultimate punishment in a prison is solitary confinement; being part of the tribe is an atavistic craving that all humans share. Take that away and a man or woman feels ostracised and worthless. Finally, your mind begins to tell you that you can survive this experience better than other mere mortals can. So, even though you know it is odd, one night you find yourself walking out of your tent for no apparent reason. Remember the words of  Lawrence Oates on the Captain Scott expedition? “I am just going outside and may be some time.” Curiously, the man he entrusted to write a letter for his mother, Edward Wilson, made no reference to any words that he spoke. It is still the subject of controversy. Self-sacrifice for his friends or ‘walk-out syndrome’? Who is to know?

Of course, like all worlds, Vilnius VIII has a certain beauty on occasion. Not all of it causes a desolation of the soul and a harrowing of the heart. The hallowed silence and monochromatic whiteness can seem comforting in a stark and alien way sometimes. The aurora mentioned previously has the most psychedelic colours known to man. It swirls and shapeshifts across the sky like the changing colours of silk veils, from luminous-blue and royal-purple to electric-green. The moon can be impressive too, hanging in the sky like a low-watt globe and giving off a pasty glow. It might not seem like much, but it is the only symbol of hope you will see in this forlorn desert of snow. You will not see the bat-winged shadows of any trees. You may even see a flock of snow geese passing overhead, appearing out of nowhere like something from a Celtic fairytale. These may also be the first symptoms of snow blindness or the initial stages of hallucination.

Finally, landfall. Weeks of preparation had led up to this. Survival guides for the tundra, classes on what to do in any scenario, hundreds of man hours just to create the ship that brought us here. It was little less than a miracle we got this far. Though finally, we’re here.

It’s nothing like how I would’ve imagined. Father once showed me pictures of his expedition to the north pole back on Earth before Humanity packed up and left, even that looked more habitable than this. I really wish I could log in some photos, but everything we do or take is strictly documented and written down with what is seemingly invisible ink. Not even a day passes before the work we submitted is just… gone. Supposedly claimed by the government for ‘research purposes’. If that’s the truth, then what’s the point of sending us out here if we aren’t researching anything ourselves? Doesn’t matter, it seems. A secondary mission they wanted us for was to look for some kind of landing site for further missions, I guess that’s what we’ll do.

What the HELL do they think we’re working with out here? We have no food left, no sort of stable energy source and we’re supposed to stay for another SIX MONTHS? WITHOUT another resupply until APRIL? I don’t know what the hell these people want with this place, but they can get someone else to search for whatever it is they want. Half the time we ask if our research is getting anywhere, they don’t even give us a reply. What are we, some kind of expendable group of eggheads that don’t need basic human needs to survive?

Maybe it is true, what he’s saying. Another member already killed themselves after the Chief told us we’d be staying another half-year. We were down enough as is, with Winters being, ironically, killed by the cold during the night after our heating went out, and Thomasson getting fried in the open when he tried to warm his hands with the ******* FUSION ENGINE on the ship. Maybe, it’s not so crazy after all that Jako thinks we’re being left for dead out here. Maybe.

Signing off, Isaiah Hooks.

With the admission of the Republic into the Human Federation, along with it came new toys. Engineers and scientists now get their hands on technology and weaponry never before seen. With this new technology there is but one thing to do and that is convert the new weaponry to function off of dialite using our developed knowledge.

The Republic has made great strides in it's economical effort, doubling its original income within 5 years. Prezydent Aleksander is praised by the media for using an aggressive economic policy and improving the militaries readiness by adding ships to the already small fleet. People on the capital world love the Prezydent but he has done slim to nothing for the other colonies except the small Arcadis business investment. More funds were put into Arcadis but this still began worrying the administration about possible outrage and riots. A republic General brought this to Alexander's attention along with many other political figures of notice. He has suggested the creation of a special forces branch that would work alone but sometimes alongside the army and navy. Secretary Jankowski put a vote up to create WS (Wojska Specjalne). The branch would consist of special forces units performing counter terrorism and high priority missions, in general things your average soldier could not complete. the special forces units. Immediately after given the green light, new recruits were recruited. Their training and area of doing so are to be kept top secret from the public.

Activity

Britannia had would begin to adjust its focuses away from Agriculture as there had already been so much investment the human populations of the worlds would continue to grow for the foreseeable future. As such the allocated budget for the Navy would be increased over the course of the year to keep up with the possibility of being sent on the Crusade.

Funds would be diverted to private contracts with associates of the FEZ in order to further improve the weapons that the ships had and the economy would be invested in so business could once again grow on Armathwaite to keep up the massive GDP Growth of the Kingdom. Lastly among the activity in the Kingdom would be producing infantry equipment, namely Disruptor Rifles to arm the Royal Security Forces.

“How is Yuguo?”

“Same as always. Different tyrants, same story.”

“Yan.”

“A joke, Chan.”

“I hope so. For your sake.”

“I’ve said worse to the old man before and gotten away with it. I think he’s a bit frightened of me.”

“Definitely don’t let him hear you say that.”

“Honestly, I don’t know how you can stand to be around him.”

“If that’s the way you feel, Yan, then why come here?”

Hu Yan sighed, and didn’t answer the question. As his fingers drummed a steady pattern on the thigh of the woman beside him, he looked from the shuttle’s window on a sight he’d never planned to see. Swimming in the void was Hanguo, the last bastion of independent Dominion rule.

Compared to Yuguo, the place was deserted. At home there would be dozens of ships thronging space, hauling men and goods between the many worlds of the eastern territories. Here, there was only a small shipyard, and a few sad-looking corvettes in loose formation.  But there was something fascinating in the people he’d met, a certain spirit he hadn’t felt in months. Here, the war wasn’t over. Yan wasn’t so sure he approved.

“I thought you’d joined them, you know.”

“How could I?” The shuttle drifted into Hanguo’s atmosphere, and the pair looked down on a single jungle-covered landmass. “The Lithruans don’t have any use for my skills, and even if they did...it would probably involve working against you.”  His eyes shifted up. “I’ll do Yimu’s dirty work for a lifetime before that happens.”

“Yan...you didn’t see him after the Eadni came. He was-”

“He’s always been the same. We’re just tools to him. Everyone is.” There was a long pause. “Come back with me. To Yuguo.”

“You know I can’t do that.”

“Well, I can’t stay in a place like this.” He gazed at the small town of Guiyang below, and to the vast gas giant above, which Hanguo orbited. It was too alien; it could never be home. Beside him, Chan was silent.

The shuttle came to a landing shortly after, and Yan stepped out first, his expression unreadable in the new environment. Guiyang was situated in a tropical valley, at the mouth of a great river. At least that was an improvement; one could only endure Yuguo fog for so long at a time. He squinted into the sun, and could make out a tall spire on the hillside.

“That’s where we’re going, then?” Yan’s companion nodded, and he set off across the tarmac at a brisk pace, with her in tow. A car had been called for them, but as he made his way to it, he couldn’t help but notice groups of soldiers watching. All were watching him in particular, whispering to each other conspiratorially.

Chan noticed him eyeing them. “They recognize you. I don’t know if you’ve heard, but you’ve become something of a celebrity around here. ‘Our greatest assassin, the Terror of Terra,’ was the phrase in the last press column, I believe.”

“Funny,” Yan frowned. “One wonders what the commissars are thinking, doing stories on hard-working patriots who need to keep their work secret. If they need war heroes, why not the navy?”

“It’s not as if we have a navy anymore.”

“I suppose that’s true,” he grumbled. “But I’ve never even been to Terra…”

They continued on. The town had until recently been a far-flung outpost, dominated by mining interests and sustained by fishing. In many ways it still was: there were few large buildings, and most of the traffic on the roads was industrial transport. Yet the trappings of power were here too, if only in a weak attempt to mimic the old world. Banners hung on every small street; as one passed the main plaza it was impossible to miss a single announcement screen, like the ones which covered every skyscraper of Xin Xi’an. Black and red uniforms increasingly lined the sidewalks as they drew closer to the spire.

Waiting for them there was a man Yan recognized instantly, and he didn’t even bother to stifle his grimace. Stepping from the car, he tried to put as much disgust in his voice as he could possibly manage.

“Can’t say I’m surprised to find you here, Zhen. If someone nuked every habitable planet in the galaxy, we could probably still find you hiding under a dumpster somewhere, with the other cockroaches.”

“Good to see you too, Major. The High Inspector sends his best.” Wang Zhen seemed unperturbed by the hostility, smiling back as if the newcomer had just unexpectedly remembered his birthday. The grin faded slightly when Chan emerged from the car to sidle unusually close to Yan, but the lapse quickly gave way to a smirk and a wink towards the woman.

“Well then. We’ll just be off to see him. Goodbye, Zhen.” Yan started toward the spire.

“Unfortunately,” came the reply with no shortage of pleasure, “His Excellency is feeling ill. A personal matter has left him with a bad case of...indigestion. No visitors today, except for me, obviously.”

Yan’s fingers edged toward the force blade at his hip. “How extremely convenient for you.”

“Yan…” His companion gently held his arm back, and looked to the smiling man in front of them. “We’ll come back tomorrow.”

“It’s quite a case of indigestion, Captain Xuan…” he shook his head sadly. “I’ll spare you the details. In any case, Major Hu here won’t be here that long. His Excellency has already prepared his next assignment.” Zhen pulled a small datapad from within his coat, barely flinching when Yan snatched it. “You will of course want to be leaving immediately...”

“No I damn well won’t!” Yan shouted with a sudden fury that seemed more than natural. To his credit, the man in front of him did not flinch, but the infuriating smile was at last gone.

“Until you retrieve the individual specified in those documents, Hanguo can offer you no lodging.” Zhen’s voice was unsteady, but Yan had drawn the attention of several nearby guards, who were now watching the exchange. “They’ve just been found, you see. His Excellency would rather like to see them returned to us.” The guards drew nearer, and he visibly gained confidence. “Have a safe trip.”

It was all Chan could do to restrain the assassin-major, but she managed it with a few silent promises for the evening. It was always satisfying how much more descriptive one could be with no need for words. Less than a minute later they were back in the car, headed away from the spire at full speed.

“One of these days,” Yan grunted, “that pile of rat dung is going to push his luck too far. When he does I swear I’ll have a front row seat at the execution.”

“I’ll be there with you,” Chan gazed out the window. “But I wouldn’t expect anything more than petty inconveniences from Zhen. You’d only be putting yourself in danger to give him what he deserves now.”

Yan said nothing.

“What’s the assignment? The ‘individual’ you have to find?”

“A waste of time, I imagine. A cheap trick to send me after some two-bit embezzler just so I don’t spend any time around here.” He unlocked the datapad to look, and his eyes widened almost immediately.

“Yan? Who is it?”

“It’s his son. Chan, it’s Shi Feng.”

----------

One year following a coldly efficient purge, all citizens of the Dominion who could question its authority have been utterly expunged. With the nation in near-isolation, the Jinyiwei has a complete monopoly on the information available to its slaves proud citizens. Nowhere is this more obvious than on the Kuilei-populated colony of Xin Shiguo, where references to Han supremacy are nowhere to be seen despite being ubiquitous elsewhere.

Propaganda during this time focuses on the glory of the old Dominion, soon to be reclaimed. Stories of the brave Han fleet eviscerating Ascardian ships against ten-to-one odds exhort the schoolchildren of Hanguo to heroic deeds, for they know that a single Han is worth a dozen Lithruans. Tales of the treacherous FEZ merchants and corrupt Human Federation fill each citizen with overwhelming disgust: in time, these hives of villainy will have to be subjugated if they are to join the ranks of civilized nations.

Those in the ruling Jinyiwei class have a more nuanced view on the situation, and cautious arrangements have been made with a newly-discovered, highly-capitalist group of northern Han for the construction of freighters going forward. For the most part, embassies remain withdrawn from all foreign nations, but the Dominion does not refuse hails.

Xuan Chan, sub-governor of Hanguo and noted capable administrator, threatens to resign unless allowed to undergo the risky procedure required of all Han field agents. The request is begrudgingly granted by the High Inspector, and she quickly leaves the Western Authority to catch up with the far more experienced Hu Yan.

Otherwise, little obvious activity can be seen south of the Ganvius. As the northern galaxy becomes the focus of attention, the Western Authority is silent, quietly watching and regaining their footing. Communications are cordial with the neighboring tree-people, while Han ambassadors continuously seek closer relations with individual Rontan nations, rather than the coalition as a whole.

The High Inspector of the Jinyiwei releases an official statement condemning a recent trend in which citizens have been referring to him as the Dao. Funnily enough, it doesn’t seem to be rigorously enforced.

Summary

Tasked with the retrieval of Shi Yimu’s son, Major Hu Yan and Captain Xuan Chan travel north in disguise, in search of the mercenary company known as Gruu’uuka’ruud’s Slayers. The news of Ar’gakari reinforcements comes as a shock to the pair, but they journey forth nonetheless into the greatest war the north has seen in centuries. - [0 AP]

A group of Jinyiwei officers approaches the most greedy Rontan nation they can find, preferably one with easily-influenced government officials, and express interest in a partnership with one of their energy companies. Apparently they are interested in bringing xylorite power to the planet. At the same time and with far more discretion, another group of agents seeks out any warmongering dictators the planet may hold. - [0 AP]

[REDACTED] - 2 AP

In order to ensure continuous economic expansion and pave the way to constructing a defensive fleet, the Dominion expands two of its shipyards in the Western Authority, aiming for each to be capable of producing light cruisers by the end of the year. A little extra goes into one of the other yards. - [13 AP]

As per contract with the Han corporation calling itself Four Tigers, the Dominion constructs five light transports to their specifications, pocketing a full half of the payment as profit. - [5 AP]

With the remainder of its budget, the Dominion produces as many light transports as it can, both for efficient transport between colonies and for future operations in foreign space. - [13 AP]

The camera scrolled across the grassy expanse, dotted with trees and wildlife, and stopped at an angle where the system’s star had crawled out from the distant hills and spread its warm light to illuminate the world. A few words in a frilly font appear on the video, A response to the progressing state of the galaxy.

Prince Pablo walked into view with a broad smile, and he stood tall despite his age, “It’s peace in our time!”

The camera view switched to Isabella, “And here in Andorra, peace is-”

“Wait, no. That doesn’t sounds right, does it? Very overused phrase.”

There was a collective groan from the group.

“Pablo, how many times must I tell you, just stick to the script. The writers have already made sure that the announcement video will give optimum effect.”

“Yes, you’ve told me, but I honestly think they need to lay off the cliches. ‘Peace in our time’ sounds so old and musty. Also inaccurate.”

“We need you to just say it and be done with it, there are many other things still to be done.”

“But it must be done right!”

“We need you to cooperate for just a moment-”

“Son.”

“Yes, father?”

“I need to head to the frontal command center to decide what we are going to do about being separated from humanity, and likely lead a landing on the nearby planet. I want you to break the news to our people that we will be alone in the galaxy for some time,” he paused, “Maybe even forever.”

“But you’re the Prince here, w-what about Prince Joel? Why do I have to do this? I have only turned sixteen a few months ago! What if I say it wrong and I make everyone concerned or worse?”

“Pablo, I know you are going to grow into a strong leader and a great man, and I want to give you an opportunity to prove who you are to the people. So that they will know who you are when you take my place.”

“So be it… I will do as you wish.”

“Please, I do not want this to be a chore. Seize the moment. Define who you are.”

“OK OK, just let me go do it.”

The Prince sighed and strode off to the command center.

Pablo stood still for some time, unsure of how exactly he wanted to proceed.

A young girl ran down the corridor, checking her watch and muttering to herself, “Oh, I can’t be late. Not for this. Not today!”

Pablo looked over to her just before she whooshed by, “Late for what?”

The girl stopped, clearly caught off guard, and responded, “W-Why? The Princepetit’s announcement of course.” She collected herself and looked a little closer, “Wait, that’s you! What are you doing here? As far as I know, people are waiting in the great hall to listen to you.”

“I… ah… can’t do it.” He paused, “I’m no leader. I’ll slip up. I don’t know what to say. I’ll make a fool of myself and my parents. I’ll misrepresent the country’s spirit.”

“What? Well I’d say it’s better to make a fool of yourself than a coward!” She gasped, and covered her mouth. “I am so sorry your majesty, I didn’t mean it like that! I-It just came out!”

“No, you’re right.” He leaned back against a wall and scrunched down. “Committing to something and then not even showing up or saying anything… that would be cowardice.”

Silence. The girl became rather irritated, “So is that it? Is this our future Prince? A pathetic boy that wallows in his lack of confidence?” Realizing her frustration had taken the best of her, she stopped herself. Then she took a breath, and said slowly yet assuredly, “You need to take a look at yourself and determine if you see a man of God, or just a child. If the latter, then I seriously recommend you spend some time allowing Him to grow you up. You will have a job to fulfill as a Prince, and you can’t expect yourself to do it alone. None of us can.”

Pablo was silent, a single tear rolled down his cheek as he stood up and began walking down the hall. After a few steps he stopped, “Thank you for your help. I… I can see a little more clearly now. What is your name?”

“Sonia.”

“Thank you, Sonia.”

------- Back to the present -------

“-please.”

“I’m not trying to be uncooperative, I just don’t want to put forward the wrong image of Andorra. Maybe the script as it is will be ‘optimal’ for our galactic audiences or whatever, but it doesn’t resemble us three or our people.”

“How so?”

“It feels so artificial… just plasticky. Unrealistic, I should say. When have we ever said anything to each other like this? It looks at the new galactic status from a totally foreign angle.”

“Well, I can’t say I disagree with you on that. Maybe we should edit it just a bit.”

“But we can’t take too long or the moment will pass. Let’s do it though.”

------- The next morning -------

“OK. Three, two, one, action!” The camera crossed over most of the same landscape as before, but while the sun still slept just beneath the hills and the stars remained visible.

“This advent of peace with previous threats and of new friendships forming has been a long, harrowing path, and with many dead and with new, foreboding enemies it can barely be called an improvement.”

“Horrible atrocities of war have come to pass in the recent years. There are griefs and scars that cannot be forgotten,” a pause, “but that can be nurtured and healed.”

“And as with every dark night where one shudders where they stand and fear lurks about, there is a dawn to come. A new dawn to hope for and embrace.”

As José spoke, the sun peeked out above the horizon and filled the sky with a warm orange hue.

“A new dawn where we can come together and fix what has been broken and heal what has been wounded.”

“Where we can build ever higher and grow ever stronger. Uniting to help one another from the true enemies that can now be seen.”

“Where we can prepare ourselves for the next night, but a night that we face together and not split apart.”

“And here, in our humble land, the people of Andorra set out to be a uniting factor in the galaxy.”

“What we may lack in the traditional sense of power, we more than make up for with our ceaseless ambition and strong unity as a people.”

“So, in a first step towards repair, we are expanding our sectors of commerce to help tie together the northern and southern parts of the galaxy.”

“Once distanced by conflict, another bridge can now exist between the two worlds. Trade and share of goods, ideas, and goals can happen ever more, and Andorra seeks to be this bridge.”

“So, let us all work towards a better future, a greater dawn.”

“Aaaand cut!”

“Whew, I hope we did well.”

“Oh, you did great.”

-Old gears begin turning again as the information from the long neglected project ATM is gathered and the research begins again (14 AP x 3.5 = 49 AP; 68 AP Invested).

-Top engineers and physicists begin working on an improved, quad-infusor xylorite reactor (20 AP x 3.5 = 70 AP; 70 AP Invested).

-B.A.S.E. (0 AP) (Skype).

-The two colony ships made in the last year are sent off to the following locations. The new scanning tech is used to scout out the best locations for colonization in regard to habitability and amount of valuable resources (0 AP).

-Andorra properly announces its venture to be another trade link between the northwestern and southern parts of the galaxy in hopes of providing secure supply lines for northwestern nations fighting the Argakari. Given how the mass of Argakari has essentially split the north into 2 halves and how the Darkul have opened space to civilian [trade] ships this is seen as both a necessity and an opportunity as Andorrans also hope to make at least some small profit off the deal as well. Naturally, this is a rather large endeavor as Andorra aims to engage as many southern nations as possible in the war effort, so mass-media is used to populate the message throughout the southern galaxy as well as throughout northwestern nations. Great attention to detail is taken to avoid piracy as scheduled patrols and scans will happen with careful coordination throughout Andorran space using the navy and advanced scanner technology. Suggested trade routes are organized as well to steer trade far away as possible from any Argakari meddling (6 AP).

-The stock market receives some more structure and solidification to support increased levels of trade. Also, businesses are given subsidies to expand and be able to cater to more consumers at a time (20 AP, Business Investment).

-Two more trade outposts are created in the Esperança system to handle more trade ships. In conjunction with these new openings, trade partnerships are offered to the Darkul, Zaxx, T’jell, Rak’Nak’Thax, Ganvius, and Protorians (20 AP).

Clarified how 'Andorrasphere' is NOT an attempt at trade monopoly, but is mostly an attempt to provide more supply lanes to warring northern nations such as Andorra's allies the H'Wong and Zyrka.

The Trade Federation

“I’ve forgotten what it means, to be like you. Such a simple creature, so driven by your lack of continuity.”

“Aren’t we all like that?”

He continued as if he had not heard him. “It is as if I have been stripped of that evolutionary instinct to fight for every breath. To turn every living moment into a struggle for my own survival. I have forgotten what it means to fear the end.”

“You’ve forgotten what it means to die?”

“Yes.” He shrugged. “Something within me tells me I should be terrified of the utter inhumanity of such an utterance. But I cannot feel it. I cannot look at you now, and empathize with your imminent death. Or your fragile, unique body. It all seems so absurd to me now.”

“Are you not human?”

“No, I think I am not. Not anymore.” He smiled. “What a strangely relieving experience. To admit this. To accept that my humanity passed away with my first body.”

He stood up. “Thank you, for freeing my mind of its cage.” He walked out of the room. The door hissed and gasped as air equalized and shifted. The door shut again. He looked back into the small room at the kneeling figure, and opened the airlock.

“Goodbye, Doctor McKenney. I would hate for you, with your narrow mind and blind eyes, to put others through what I have been.”

As the body was torn out of the airlock, Cromwell closed his eyes slowly, a wave of relief surging through him. “I must do that myself. They must be guided.”

Enormous investments. With the ridiculous profit margin gained with acquiring the Protorian Contract, the Trade Federation CONTINUES to  relaunch its Western market, boosting GTC-1’s presence and return to activity with massive marketing campaigns. To cunter the Andorran business venture, aggressive price cutting and offers that constantly undermine what Andorra may offer are launched. Companies working in the Federation also offer new beneficial paths for the 11 nations in the North with which they trade and logistics companies that have long gotten along with suppliers use these favorable relations to deviate them from Andorra. Along with this comes continuous investment into the Xeri & Kosh brand and their weapon systems. Andorran public companies are also acquired and absorbed by larger Federation companies on the Andorran stock market, to take away profit from whatever ships may come. (60AP) (240AP invested into Business)

Torpedoes, the trizendrium & xylorite type, are researched. (20AP) (20AP invested)

With actual battle data now, Project Evil Twin continues. Many improvements are made, including better security and heavier armor right around the capsule, an off-center position that allows for lower chances of a direct impact, faster electronic connections, an improved brain scan speed (shaving off miliseconds, etc) and all that can be done to refine the mechanisms of the technology. They also implement a better shall for the Capsule and its own tri-phased shield layer, to increase reaction time. (35AP) (255 invested)

Five destroyers, two frigates and a corvette are constructed for Cromwell Inc. (20AP)

Work continues on the Ar'Gakari tech. (20AP) (60AP invested)

The Industry weapons manufacturing facilities continue to expand with more and more weapons production! New factories are opened on GTC-1, selling weapons to the Darkul, specifically. (25AP) (75AP invested Industry)

Xeri & Kosh continue their intensive work on creating the best weaponry in the galaxy! Their Kinetic-Trizendrium line of weapons, named the XKT line, is continually perfected. (70AP) (160AP invested) (Tier 5 unlocked!)

The Darkul are approached by trade officials who have long interacted with them through Carina station, and have a modicum of understanding of their culture. The Federation offers them a deal. In return for shipping all south-bound cargo through GTC-1, they will be given exclusive docking ports for their cargo ships and beneficial fees on fuel on a consistent basis. The Federation also mixes in a request for them to influence their Zaxx partners into opening trade with the Federation.(0AP)

All ships are retrofitted with relevant technologies. (0AP)

And thus it began. The largest construction project ever completed began. Nearly every single one of the 300,000 employees of Arcturus Defense Solutions would be working overtime this year.

Everyday hundreds of freighters arrived and departed from the Moon of Iris in the capital system. Where raw materials were gathered for manufacturing and millions of tons of Shields, armor plates, weapons and supplies departed alongside skilled engineers and laborers. The orbit traffic Masters had an absolute hell of a time directing that much traffic. But nevertheless it went through. Across a vast swath of territory in the southern Galaxy, under construction signs went up. As the year progressed Key fortifications went up along the edges of Skellar and Libellan space. The beginnings of an Iron Wall.

The interface lit up as Nira moved, the mech following her every movement. A small group of men and women stood nearby watching.

The mech’s speech enhancement boomed to the small crowd “Now this isn’t a standard Paladin Mech, we’ve modified it to use disruptor based weaponry instead of kinetic based.”

Holding up her right arm the mech showed off it’s main armament. “While the mech no longer has full use of two arms with digits, this Disruptor Cannon is designed to rip through Infantry, Heavy Battlesuits and light class vehicles. Observe.”

The mech turned to an older outdated LAV, aiming the cannon a quick whining noise indicated it’s power up before it discharged and in a quick blue flash the bulk of the vehicle was disintegrated. The crowd would clap seeming impressed.

Chapter I: The Great Wars (Ended)

Chapter II: Old Shadows (Ended)

Chapter III Act 1: N’Fe a Te (Ended)

Chapter III Act 2 - Endgame

Alea iacta est

The stage was set for the grand spectacle. Armies and navies in place. Fighter squadrons, destroyer fleets, cruiser armadas. Battleships lining the vast emptiness between the stars. Bearing the banners and flying the colors of so many nations. So many species. Human. Redon. Protorian. Karrass. Darkul. Ar'gakari. Zaxx. Zyrka. Cevelli. The list goes on and on. But a list can become shorter, with time, with effort, with brutality, as everything might just drown in the tides of war. In the tides and flames of this Great War. Or... the Great War. A war, an accumulation of battles that were, that are and are to be, deciding the very fate of the galaxy many of these species call home. The future is to be decided now.

-----

Completely free of player commentary. I refer to chat.

-----

Events

War is the only headline to be read in all the news in all nations throughout the galaxy. As if it was not apparent enough already, with many having loved ones somewhere deployed in the now onsetting carnage.

The situation in the North against the Ar'gakari begins to heat up, as Ar'gakari forces are making slow but steady gains under less losses than the valiant defenders. The East appears to hold as of now, thanks to numerous Protorian and Alduu'uuranean intervention, with the West buckling under more attacks, the Zyrka suffering the most in the whole ordeal.

The Keerim are stemming back the Incursion tide tirelessly, suffering many losses in both systems and manpower.

Thadon Datrax announces the entry of the Lithruan Empire into the Great War by next year. Internal, logistical and public opinion reasons are a hindrance right now it seems.

The Ganvius nation has announced it's mobilizing all available forces, arming up and preparing, but it might take another year as well before they can come to aid.

The Cynn have joined forces with the Chupan'mo to assist the Keerim in fighting back the less prevalent hotspots with the Incursion appearing.

Letter from the Chairman's Office

Once again, I bear news of fruitful activity. To the south, our freed blood-compatriots renew their efforts towards the ideals of peaceful governance and Confucian rule. With their efforts has come the opportunity for interaction between our company and their yards, and it is with great pleasure that I recognize this new partnership as the origins of OOCL's [OOCL] booming stock this past year. I am also glad to announce that we have officially passed the 1.5 million employee marker, over 15 times the size of our original corporate relocation team. In news on external factors, head company analysts believe the invasive species will not pose a major problem to future company growth, though expansion will be an issue to be returned to in the future.

In late July, Four Tigers voting shareholder Peter Kwang passed away in his sleep at the age of 74. He now rests with his ancestors, and he has been succeeded by his son and former CEO of Wilmar International [WI], James Kwang. While there was controversy over the takeover of Wilmar International from the Cheng inheritors five years ago, we are confident that James has found a competent replacement for him in Mr. Jonathan Kwang. Jonathan has had major success as CFO of Penghu Group [PNG], and we look forward to his expansive plans towards our strongest agribusiness subsidiary. Finally, I am eager to announce the completion of additional trading platforms for the numerous governments across the galaxy, funded in large part by Evergreen [EG], Foxconn [FCN], Peninsular Hotel Groups [PNSL], and AsusTek [ASUS] among other minority holders. I look forward to and thank you for your continued investment in and patronage of Four Tigers Holdings. 生意兴隆.

-Chairman Hua Ten-Shi

As he slammed his desk in frustration, the boardroom grew silent. Timothy Moh, CEO of APL (notably named American Presidential Lines despite being Singaporean), glared at his C-level subordinates. They all dressed impeccably, in trending half-casual suits and expensive jewelry. In APL, such clothing was essentially a rule - personality had always been important to the companies that had once hailed from the furthest-south of the Four Tigers, and it had backfired. When they landed on Xingzhou, the Singaporeans had fractured. Compared to the chaebols and clan benevolent associations and syndications of their rivals, Timothy had relied on APL’s individual cash flows to compete. Now, he was feeling the burn.

“Was it Chen? Why hasn't that hútú dàn died yet!” he roared, turning to the subordinate to his left. His faithful COO, Gilbert Guo. The most unfortunately named of APL’s executives (also, unfortunately, not related to the CEO of Cathay Intergalactic, Guo Cao-Mei), and the only one in boardroom formal, hurriedly scrolled through a datapad.

“It was Chairman Hua, sir.” Another few entries in Unified Chinese Script later, and one of the walls flickered to life as the face of an elderly man with thinning hair and wearing a white suit appeared. This was the familiar visage of Hua Ten-Hsi, Chairman of Four Tigers Holdings, and, in technicality, Timothy’s boss.

“-r its completion. The longer we wait, the lower our production, the more we must import. Wh-” The screen clicked off, and, for a while, Timothy simply glared out the window of the room.

"...Call DBS."

Actions [69 AP]:

[15 AP] - The shipyard’s upgrade is completed. Hua Ten-Hsi himself comes to cut the ribbon on the expansion, noting their ability to build more freighters than ever before. Almost as if on cue, the major shipping subsidiaries enter into a bidding war to claim purchasing rights for the next year.

[20 AP] - Extra levels of trading ports are added to the Grand T’ai Trade Center and Imperial Trading House respectively. Now, they turn to human customers to fill the slots. Strangely enough, most of those nations seem to be the ones that had previously traded with the now-defunct nation-state of Malta.

[11 AP] - Another 100m SLH Yuan enters Western Authority coffers, and a black card is once again filled. OOCL eagerly awaits its goods. By OOCL, we of course mean CEO and model Brittney Gong.

[18 AP] - Evergreen orders yet more CI400c’s, and Cathay Intergalactic another CI2000p. The divides in cargo operations has begun to stabilize.

[2 AP] - After weeks of frantic wheeling and dealing, APL scrounges the funds to build another CI100c. After the previous year’s construction, it had thought its position safe. Now, it found itself with the lowest capitalization of the 3 Commerces and a loan from the Development Bank of Singapore.

[3 AP] - Four Tigers begins researching advanced facial/body reconstruction technologies. Where there is money, there is vanity, and money has begun to flow in greater and greater quantities through Xingzhou.

“So this is the first of many correct?” Karl ran his hands over the goopy sac in front of him. A female stood behind him wearing the standard lab coat, she smiled at her first prototype. “How many more do you plan on producing?” The woman shrugged looking over her clipboard before looking up to Karl. “Only when the last prototype is completed of course.”

Karl looked back to her as she motioned for him to follow, they left the room and wandered outside onto the hangar launch pad. “Now that we’re out of there away from the soldier’s ears, I have to ask you a few questions.” Her gaze moved from the dimming sun to Karl. “I hear your deeply invested in the laws behind the quantum realm correct?” A question that caught Karl off guard, very few he thought knew of his passion project.

“I… I know what I’ve been able to read on the net, most of the theories on it are bootleg as the majority of scientist are locked from speaking about their knowledge.”

The woman smirked as she fumbled around in her lab coat pocket and took out a pack of cigarettes, she lit one taking a prolonged puff. “You really think I believe that?”

“The Quantum realm isn’t something everyone should know about, its intricacies are too much to bear for our race and especially with our warlike volatility it would only harm ourselves.”

Karl noticed she rolled her eyes as she flicked some ash off her cigarrete. “I won’t pester you about it but I do have another question to ask you. Would you share your information if the end of the galaxy was approaching?”

What a troubling question in Karl’s mind, before he could respond a dropship came into view and so did its extremely obnoxious VTOL engines. Upon landing behind the woman and Karl, the door opened revealing the next set of prototypes.
