Die Volksrepublik

All across the capital world, people were looking tot heir neighbors. A potentially wealthy expedition had just been offered to every citizen. In the capital city of Utopie, things were always growing. It was now a large city in it's own rights. And the plan for growth would keep going. Farm land filled valleys all around the city and towns. A massive output of produce was pouring into the city. And with every harvest a part was stored for seed. Using that, the farm land had a continuous natural growth pattern. Life was simple, and relatively easy.

Classes have officially begun in the academy. While largely retained to education it also provided infantry classes. The veteran Galorans will begin a special class for Utopie officers to learn advanced modern war.

But now the colony ship has been finished in the newly advanced ship yards. In anticipation both frigates had been recalled before the final construction. After much consideration a small portion of Utopie's population decided to join the colony. This was no regular venture, Utopie was not settling a nearby system. It had been voted on and a special committee was formed. Knowing the space further north to be clustered with systems and life, they acted.

This colony would be the start of Utopie's first foreign investment so to speak. As the settlers established a town with their resources, a proclamation is issued. SATO nations like nearby Silver Knights, Hesphaestus, Aurora, and the Federation are encouraged to establish trade post there. All galactic nations are also allowed to come to the new colony to trade. It is hoped that the colony, ideally placed in the center, can become quite the trade hub. Utope does not levy any large tariff for trading there, in fact it is quite small. The policy is to encourage growth, and attract merchants. Perhaps the colony could be a frequent stop around trade routes in the center galaxy.

For now the colony ship and two frigates jump to the initial point marked. From there the frigates will scan the surrounding systems. If a better system with a richer world is found, the colony ship will adjust. Then settlement will begin and the establishment of the galactic trade post.

Utopie establishes a trade route with the Terran Federation. A portion of each harvest will now be shipped to the Federation. It will help feed them, a nation with slower agriculture. In return technology was handed over, and a payment schedule will begin for each shipment.

The Terran Federation

Year 2123 Terra, Sol Colony, Sol’s Rebirth System

The sun, the moon and the stars would have disappeared long ago,

had they happened to be within reach of predatory human hands.” - Havelock Ellis

A Great many things have changed in the past year. The Galactic Council dissolved, The Corruptors on the move once again along with the discovery of two massive civilizations on the Western end of the Galaxy.

The Federation Navy is given its first Priority Mission. The Nebula Class Exploration Freighter along with the escort of the Centurion Assault Frigate ‘Remembrance’ is sent out to the east in an attempt to better detect and study these signals perhaps even seek out their origin if possible. With all the great threats in the Galaxy the council decides knowledge of possible new threats it Priority One.

As the saying goes, Better the Devil you know..than the one you don’t.

Federation Logistics and War Divisions begin working on using the knowledge of advanced robotics to create two new forms of Combat Capable Bots. Designed with battling the Corruptors as a Priority.

The Mark I Hunter Bot

Humanoid, Armed with basic Infantry Equipment as well as several means of visual input. Magnetic Clips to carry different Firearms.

The Mark II Battle ‘Tank’ Bot

latest?cb=20170119200702

A large Bipedal Tank, the Mark II is hoped to be designed with a 50mm Shoulder Mounted Gatling Gun, 2 Anti-Vehicle Missile Pods, and a Anti-Vehicle/Anti-Structure Railgun ‘Head’. Itoron Alloy Armor to protect against Ballistics along with deployable smoke and flares.

This project is shared, with obvious care and encryption amongst SATO Members as they are all offered to join in the Research & Development of these designs.

The Federation also sends the TFS Liberty, the first designed Centurion Assault Frigate to the Tassarean Republic to aid in the war effort, but also demands Field Data of it's combat effectiveness.

When the Technocracy delivered the brand-spanking new colony ship, there was a flurry of bidding for seats and construction contracts from almost all subsidiaries. Even subsidiaries that had nothing to do with said enterprises were attempting to get someone on the vessel. However, as expected, mining contractors and micro-subsidiaries bought almost every seat on the vessel. The wild-eyed, greedy diggers were drooling over the reported Itoron on the untouched world. Jason Woolard, mining magnate and Board member, bought himself three seats on the ship. This being so, the Board gave him permission to oversee Corporate affairs on the planet.

The bulky xylorite power-source was mostly impressive, but it just didn't sit well with the Board. They demanded something smaller and easier to carry. They had no time for inconvenient energy systems. They would be willing to sell them, but not use them. The scientists were sent back to the labs, grumbling all the way, to bring the cells up to corporate standards.

With volunteers coming every which-way from former Galaron, the Board followed CEO Penrith's orders to court the refugees. Any veteran soldiers are offered work in retraining the Hephaestus Enforcers closer to the galactic standard, and giving officers and troopers some idea about the realities of galactic warfare. Hephaestus was not an organisation that valued honour, privilege, or any such old-fashioned 'knightly' virtues. The Corporation liked results and nothing else. Should a war ever come, the Board was agreed that it would have to be a total war. Every underhanded, brutal, and efficient trick would be utilised in order to ward off an aggressor. Morality was too expensive.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Actions

The scientists continue their work on the xylorite energy-cells for the Ares II, in order to make them smaller. Much grumbling ensues, but work goes on regardless. (-2AP)

Much to the pleasure of station-spotters, Hephaestus decides its shipyard isn't big and 'Hephaestusy' enough. More resources are allocated to enlarging the superstructure so a larger logo can fit on it. Brand recognition is important, after all. (-1AP into upgrading to tier 2)

The worrisome encroachment of the Corruptors pushes the board into allocating resources towards the Terran Federation's robot army. Or droid force. Whatever. They don't care. Engineers and useful components are sent off to the Terrans to aid in their scientific efforts. Pamphlets with Hephaestus products are also sent with them. The corporation needs to get something out of this, right? (-1AP)

Military veterans of any sort (though somewhat geared towards Galaron expats) are hired to train the Enforcers closer to a galactic military standard. It is requested that they teach the most effective combat techniques and tactics, rather than the most moral. (-0AP)

The colony ship, filled to the brim with ravenous miners and pre-fabricated buildings, are sent directly west to the newly-found super-planet. Jason Woolard is especially excited to utilise his mining lasers on a whole new ore. (-0AP)

"The planet's 20% bigger than Earth? That's like, 20% more stuff to mine on it, hey? What a bargain!" -Jason Woolard, as quoted in 'Underworld E-zine.'

The Han Dominion

“It’s just not good enough,” lamented Lin as she reviewed the latest results on the genetic modification of rice. “It gives us a good yield, but the growth rate is far below what would be acceptable. If we tried planting this stuff in a new colony, all the colonists would starve before they saw the first harvest.”

Yimu shrugged. “Just store an extra year’s worth on the ship.”

“And compromise on space for everything else?” scoffed Lin. “Not likely. Besides, this is a grain. Everything we don’t need to eat in the first year is more crop that can be planted.” She brought up a new window and began to aggressively type a response. “We can do better. There’s a flower we found here, the Shiying, I think, that can adjust its metabolism to changing atmospheric conditions. And the Huxi vine needs a lot of air to synthesize as much toxin as it has, so it actually brings in air mechanically: kind of proto-lungs, on a very small scale. If we look into those mechanisms, we might be able to overcome the slow growth. The latter might actually let us pack more nutrition in.”

Buttoning the cuffs on his uniform, her husband gave her shoulder an affectionate squeeze. “That kind of attention to detail is exactly what we need. Too many of the people out there don’t realize what’s at stake. You don’t have to look at it, but I do.” He grimaced. “They cut corners, prioritize their own pleasure over the needs of the Dominion. It’s that kind of thinking that’s going to get us all killed one day.”

Lin turned around in her seat, and looking concerned, eyeing Yimu’s uniform. “Never mind that. What is it that’s calling you away this time of night?”

Yimu glowered. “Exactly what I just said. Degenerate scum.” He stepped to the door, donning his uniform hat, and looked back, his expression softening. “I’ll see you tomorrow. Sleep well.” With that, he left his apartment, soon stepping out into the rainy streets of Xin Xi’an. A car was waiting for him, and he snapped a salute to the Jinyiwei agents, barely suppressing a smile as they addressed him by his new title. ‘Captain Shi’ had a nice ring to it, he thought.

----------

((Sorry Chaw))

Wan Gengxin whistled to himself as he weighed and counted the precious metals strewn across his desk. Gold, silver, copper, even a bit of uranium. All completely useless to him for now, but properly laundered through his mining operation, it amounted to no small amount of cash. Gengxin hadn’t been the only one to smuggle poppy seeds onto the Zheng He, but as far as he knew he was the only one to get away with it after the Dominion took control. Lucky him.

His assistant Xinping came into his office to collect the night’s earnings, and Gengxin got to his feet, stretching his legs as he walked to the curtain that separated his office from the den. He couldn’t suppress a smile: there were at least thirty junkies in there just now alone, and he had two other dens elsewhere in the city. And his businesses hadn’t been so much as investigated once! For all their talk of ‘discipline,’ the Dominion’s oversight really was quite la-

Gengxin’s thought was cut short as a charge exploded on the ground floor above him, rousing even some of his customers from their stupor. It was followed moments later by gunshots, and as boots started to trample down the narrow stairway on the opposite side of the den, he panicked.

There was a small door in the back of his office, and that’s exactly where the drug lord bolted, his assistant Xinping in tow. As he slammed the door behind him in the dim, dank tunnel, he glimpsed black-clad agents descending on his customers, and forced himself to move, with as much speed and as little dignity as a rat. The tunnel exited in a garage on the other side of the building, where a car which Gengxin immediately wished was less flashy was waiting. He set the garage door to open and faintly heard the sound of his office door breaking down on the other end of the tunnel. Not much time left.

The garage door took what seemed like an eternity to open, but by the time it had, Gengxin realized that driving out of it might be a bad idea. There were cameras everywhere in Xin Xi’an, and if the Jinyiwei had only been waiting to strike they probably knew about this garage. No, driving wasn’t an option. He handed the keys to Xinping, and bolted for the stairwell as his assistant drove out onto the street, not stopping to look what happened to him.

The drug lord only got two floors up before the ground level door burst open, and he knew that he had not lost his pursuers. His lungs burned, his legs felt like giving out at any moment, but he forced himself of the stairs. There was no other way. Dimly, he remembered that this building was thirty stories tall. The mere thought of it made him want to vomit, so he started to shove doors open as he passed, to make it look like he had gone through them. After four stories of this, he actually did.

The elevator, like the garage door, seemed to take an eternity, and for a moment Gengxin thought it might have been disabled. But he was in luck, and the door opened and closed for him just in time. It seemed distracting the agents with swinging doors had bought him a few moments. It probably wasn’t a trick that would work again. He hit the button for the top floor and sped up, leaning against the wall for some much-needed rest.

It was only a moment of peace, of course, and soon he was racing back to the stairwell. When he ran in it seemed the agents below had come farther than could be believed in such a short time. Gengxin didn’t have long. He ran up the last flight of stairs and raised his foot to kick down the door to the roof.

Nothing happened.

Cursing under his breath, he kicked again and again, but the door was sturdy, and the boots on the stairs below him were coming closer and closer. Gengxin let out a roar of anger and kicked once more, and at last, to his utter relief, the door broke off one of its hinges. Two more kicks and it was down, but his head start was gone.

Xin Xi’an was a relatively small city, but dense. This meant that he didn’t have too far to go to escape the city limits, but more importantly, it meant that the alleys between most of the buildings were tiny. Gengxin didn’t hesitate: he ran straight for the edge and jumped to the next one over, without looking down at the 400 foot drop. It turned out to be a good thing he did, too: the hum of fusion engines soon became audible as one of the Dominion’s two dropships came into view. Gengxin had just enough time to break down this roof’s weaker door before it opened fire, and yet still took a bullet to his calf. Screaming in pain, he began to tumble down the first flight of stairs, taking a second bullet in his shoulder as the agents on the first building began to shoot.

The drug lord limped to the elevator and was dismayed to find that it was actually disabled this time. No matter. The river was just on the west side of this building. He just needed to get as low as he could…

Limping down the stairwell was slow and painful, but the adrenaline coursing through Gengxin’s veins made him forget all that. The Jinyiwei was always behind him; he could hear them. He tried to favor his good leg, swinging down stair by stair, using his good arm for support. It worked, to a degree. But he was losing a lot of blood. He couldn’t keep this up forever.

Eventually, he heard boots below as well as above, and knew he could go no further down. Exiting the stairwell, he ran west: only the river could save him now. His leg burned like it was being torn asunder, and maybe it was, but it didn’t matter. All that mattered was building up speed for the jump…

Gengxin threw himself out a Western window, fifty feet above the water, and time stood still. In flames, crashed on a sidewalk next to the waterfront, was his car, and the mangled body of what looked like his assistant was being roughly pulled out. And below him, in the the river...were dozens of police boats.

Wan Gengxin survived the initial impact with the river, but coming to the surface proved to be slightly more hazardous.

----------

In what comes to be known as a night of purification, both the Jinyiwei and Dominion Army raid hives of degeneracy across Xin Xi’an, from drug dens to illegal casinos. Those responsible for operating these establishments are executed on site, their assets are seized, and their names and the names of their family members are publicly dragged through the mud. Those found to have frequented such establishments are publicly exposed, arrested, and sentenced to labor as slaves in the most undesirable jobs in the Dominion until the authorities see fit to release them.

Statements from the Dominion government make it abundantly clear that although they allow a certain amount of free enterprise within reason, anything which presents a clear threat to the discipline and strength of the Han people will be purged, without exception. As an example, the authorities reference a certain individual who has been using valuable resources to make devices which merely spin around a single axis for no discernable reason:

AT7m6d3mtSyExxtZwrY-DTqm9O9OVkQytp8pLsB2nsQkXFpsxE8_SDKyAYSD5euYL1Kh-Wyb4E-BaggXTt-8bzp_OIJt6CqPibaO81zrFa2V41LsdjqJ3Ki0E76XCoY5g9p8BYbC

All such devices are destroyed, and the inventor is sentenced to a lifetime of hard labor in a salt mine as far away from the city as possible. Nearly everyone agrees that this psychopath has gotten what he deserves.

Meanwhile, the Han continue to prepare themselves for the coming struggle. Army reserves train every day, whipping themselves into a disciplined state, so that they may be called to battle if needed. The upper echelons of the Dominion’s military hotly debate the intricacies of an interstellar war, and propose more and more ambitious designs for a space warship. The shipyard which would build this warship is not yet finished, but is built more every day.

More rifles are manufactured every day, but the true preparations involve not weapons, but propulsion. Settling on a warp field as the most viable form of FTL travel, the Dominion’s physicists set themselves to work on the theory. Hopes are high for the project, and the scientists aim to be able to do some preliminary tests soon.

Finally, the improved strain of rice is phased into the Dominion’s farms, but the engineers and scientists who designed it agree that they can do better. They set about attempting to splice in genes which would solve the problems associated with this strain, and preventing these spliced genes from negatively harming the crop or its consumers. ((See RP at top of post.))

A vast biodome over the alien facility’s crater is completed, as apparently its interior is a vacuum, and the Jinyiwei wishes to use it as its own barracks. The Jinyiwei soon has an entirely secret crater all to itself, free from the prying eyes of its citizens.

The Holy Kingdom of Eadn

With the completion of the new set of frigates, another 2 are immediately put into production. The full production might of the Holy Kingdom is being utilized in the construction of these vessels, and it is hoped that the efficiency of producing them improves as they continue to produce these ships en masse. Work on the spaceport continues uninterrupted, however people of  Earn who are mentally sound enough to question the motives of the government begin to raise concerns over the construction of such a large fleet without any sort of apparent military threat. After several years of silence on the issue, the Sultan, who is now near death, chooses to address his people and reveal the truth.
[4 AP for the continued construction of the fleet]

"To my beloved citizens of the most Holy Kingdom of Eadn,"

The Sultan paused, looking into the camera and removing his glasses. The weight of the words which he prepared bared down on him like the weight of an elephant, but he pressed on.

"For centuries, mankind looked up to the stars and asked himself about his place in this vast, beautiful universe that we inhabit. For a long time, we tried to figure out why we were here, but soon we came to ask ourselves an even more important question; are we alone?

My fellow Eadni, I address you tonight with the answer to that question... No, we are not alone.

Six years ago, the High Court detected an alien vessel of considerable size on the edge of our solar system, the Ibrahim system, and we chose not to make contact. After a few weeks, the vessel moved on. We presume it was conducting a simple scan of the area and we have not made contact since.  Our
reasoning was simple: if these beings would be hostile, we were simply not prepared to engage and contact may have meant the death of mankind as we know it.

To be clear, we do not know if these aliens were indeed hostile, but we of the High Court chose not to make contact based on the chance, however small, that they were. This will continue to be our policy going forward, until the High Court feels as though we are capable of defending ourselves should an encounter occur.

As we prepare to set out into the great frontier of space and claim our place amongst the stars, our policy of contact will be simple - no contact. Perhaps my heir will change this policy when he feels we are ready to embrace these aliens, but I will not risk putting all of you, my beautiful children and survivors of the great plight of mankind, in harms way.

Thank you for your time, good evening."

Imperial Republic of Mankind

40k_imperial_aquila__transparent__by_fug

Location: Novam Domum, Imperial center, Imperial palace, conference room

The emperor Alexander Varellion walked onto the podium in front of the senate with applause following him as he did so.

Then once Alexander ascended the steps onto the podium of the great hall that was the senate room went silent as Alexander began to speak.

"My people, today we are gathered here on the at the dawn of a great revelation."

"Just recently we thought we were the last of our kind and might have been alone in the galaxy yet as proven we are not alone."

"With this comes great benefits with new friends and allies however, some people shun us for believing in what we think is right and working together in an beneficial relationship."

"You know of whom I speak, I speak of the Terran federation who have denounced us just as we returned to the fold with our brethren ."

"We, the people of the Imperial Republic, who have done no crime except joining with our natural allies are denounced as power-hungry and backstabbing and calling us and our allies unequal."

"Whom are they to judge us for our actions, have they an higher opinion then you the people, do they have an higher opinion then our allies."

"NO, they despise us just for our stance on slavery, one of the most vile and cruel things in the galaxy and allow millions to suffer in the future."

"They think that they have the moral high point with them saying we should not enforce slavery that people can choose to abide slavery if they want."

"Yes we should not enforce our will upon others in an ideal galaxy yet the galaxy is not an ideal place and slavery is practiced because it is beneficial for some."

"It is our moral duty as humans and good citizens to stand firm against the sight of evil and corruption."

"Together we will stand against the tide of any opponent that comes before us might it be the abominations from our moon which will soon be purged or the Terran federation in the future I know that you my people will always stand strong and will remain loyal to our great nation."

"So my people us this all true and do you all stand strong no matter the circumstances."

300px-UEE-Senate-Chamber.jpeg

The crowd would then cheer yes and there would be some shouts going through the senate hall though a bit more silent in a certain area

Alexander then continued on once the crowd got more silent"Now back to the topic, we have an very large and very dangerous base on our moon and I plan to purge it from the abominations that live there."

"These creatures are dangerous and a disgrace to the galaxy and if I get re-elected once again then I will assure you that I will all that is in my power to destroy those creatures before my term is over AND if you elect me again then I might be able if you fully support me and the circumstances allow it abolish rations."

This then got a large applause but this time silent in a small group amongst the crowd.

"Now my people have a nice day" Alexander would say before leaving the podium and going backstage."

In the elections there are two main competitors for the title of emperor.

Alexander Varellion and Hiroshi nirato.

Contrasting with the former election Alexander is supporting the more militaristic factions though, he is still leading the left whilst Hiroshi Nirato is repressing the right leaning factions.

In the elections there are two main point of contention, HCF and the market.

Alexander is pro-HCF and wants to keep a mixed market economy whilst Nirato is supporting of a free market economy with monopoly's allowed and he is anti-HCF and pro-SATO.

Now the question is, who will win the election ?

 The Free Human Technocracy

“You ready?” The doctor looked towards the man in the gurney as he was wheeled through a long, bright hallway. The walls were painted white which reflected the bright LED lights even more. The volunteer looked nervous, as if he didn't know what he had gotten himself into. He was warped into a completely new system blindfolded and was greeted by the icy wind against his face. His family was going to be greatly reward with itoron coins, additional rations, and the best tutors for his kids. This man was about to have his life completely changed for the better of himself and the best of the nation. Project XYZ was in full effect and the first prototype was about to be fully tested.

The Sovereign Military Order of Malta

170px-Coat_of_arms_of_the_Sovereign_Mili

Whilst the news of the finished research of the quantum anchor and subsequent construction of the first anchoring point on Malta is made public to much fanfare, the knowledge of the workings of the project are kept under strict lock-and-key, and when installed onto ships, would be done by the government and in a carefully-made tamper proof box that would destroy the system if any attempts at all are made to open it. In the top floors of the Central Headquarters, far above the main city-levels, the Grand Master looks out across the lush landscape of Rhodium as he receives a messenger.

"Sir, we've been contacted by humans calling themselves 'Aegis'."

"Then we are not alone after all." he says, sighing momentarily. "Prepare a message to them. Since we are able to communicate with somebody once more, there must be others - prepare a message for all to hear."

"Next on the agenda, sir, is what we are to fund using previously occupied resources."

"Well, we have our engine. Let's make use of it."

With that, a message is sent outwards on a set frequency repeatedly for 3 hours, stating:

"The Order of Malta survives, and will take all who wish to come in peace. Rhodium is paradise remade, and those who wish to migrate here, alien or human, will be readily accepted. Attempt war, however, and we guarantee you will take heavy losses."

With that, laws are put into place. Since Malta has no idea what types of aliens are out there, basic laws are put into place stating that humans and humanoids are guaranteed at least citizenship if they fully migrate to Malta, and that non-humanoids can earn it through work for the Order. Another round of current citizens is upgraded to Auxiliaries of the Order for their performance.

In addition, a Terran Federation ambassador arrives at Malta, and is given housing equivalent to a Knight Third Class and an office near the middle of the House of Malta.

Much of the funding used for the Quantum Anchor is shifted into the building of the shipyard, finishing its first level. Funding is also put into the refurbishing of the colony ship with a beacon and stocking it with supplies for colonists once more.

Magnificent, that single word was all that could be used to describe the carrier, President Whittaker stood on the balcony beneath a glass bubble as he and several other congressmen stared in awe at the ship. Although nowhere near completion the rigid outline of itoron plating was clearly visible from their viewing point despite being on the dark side of the planet. As they watched several of the maintenance workers prepared for the point defence systems test. They shoved a dummy missile into the tube and fired it, the dumb warhead zooming towards the carrier. Like lighting as it lit up the sky a yellow amberish beam of light shot out from the ship, striking the test missile the tiny pieces floated away from each other in space, the new laser tech from the Free Human Technocracy would prove an asset to fleets point defense capabilities. Soon, they would be ready.

Across the vast interstellar divide several humans began handing out plans to a room full of skellar, the Vancouver class frigate was to be put into immediate production in the vast Skellar shipyards, and thus they were. Rivet after rivet, plate of armor after plate of armor the Skellar were skilled in their ways and would be tremendously assisting the USA by building them.

The state visit to the Karass outer worlds had been one of great success. The knowledge of military as well as civil engineering would be studied for years to come, reassured in their position the USA would continue its work in protecting humanity and assisting the members of the HCF.

Die Volksrepublik

The ship is finished and immediately sets out to the destination. Accompanied by the frigates it should safe from any potential dangers and perhaps pirates, although none have been reported in this entire time since the Exodus from Earth. They find a suitable lush jungle planet for colonization, the wildlife being mildly aggressive, but easily deterred by fences and barbed wire.

The Terran Federation

The ship is finished this year and soon dots the sky along its brethren who were built last year, ready to take orders.

With combined effort (6 AP) they manage to repurpose the robots and invent a militarized (whilst crude) and usable robot with the corresponding interfacing. Both versions are ready as planned with the proposed HUD integration.

The expedition never returns. The eerie signals cease though. What could that mean?

The ship is willingly integrated into the Tassarean fleet. It soon sees combat in two months, turning out to suffer severe damage in some close combat encounters. Whilst surprisingly nobody of the crew dies, many get wounded and it is relieved from its combat performance with all details to it. The ship returns with a more experienced crew that can claim to have two corvettes and one frigate under its belt.

Many civilian companies start indirectly trading their goods through third parties, such as the Confederation of Xaplonius or the Backhatta Hive. More often than not, the goods still come into the colonies, when civilians from the SATO nations buy them on those third party markets.

Hephaestus Holdings Incorporated

By utilizing refined Xylorite they borrowed from a Grgl merchant, the scientists were able to have a much more compact crystal chamber on the cell, making it actually quite handy.

The expansion continues. How greedy can the Hephaestus people be. (1/2 AP to SL 2.)

And they do exactly that. The whole set of twenty-five scarred and battle-hardened Galaron veterans soon tirelessly train the Humans, Redons, Backhatta, Tassareans and anyone who is part of the security force in all tricks and skills they have attained in their long war against the Karass. Surprisingly, at the same time the level of... routine and general adherence to regulations rises remarkably on the colony. The guards make more of an impression now it seems.

The colony ship on the other hand is deployed as planet and soon the logo of Hephaestus dots another surface than the colony and the scarred surface of Earth.

The Han Dominion

After extensive study and research, a scientist makes a surprising breakthrough in one of the calculations which should allow the construction of a functional prototype by the end of next year.

The construction of the shipyard proceeds as planned, with most of the structural integrity done for it. (2/4 AP to SL 1.)

Whilst that research fails, as the genes act disruptive in the code of the rice itself, something entirely unexpected happens. During the night, one of the surveillance camera records an old man in a white suit pass through one of the green houses where the rice samples are growing. The responsible security immediately gets up to catch the trespasser, but upon arriving within the minute, he arrives at an empty greenhouse. An hour later, after this person has been searched on great parts of the colony, nowhere to be found, the scientists report back, that the experimental rice has... altered itself. It is now incredibly rich and shows rapid signs of growth. In fact so fast and efficient that it's possible to haul in two to three harvests a year. Even with a worse atmosphere and less water than before, the rice grows incredibly well and is resistant to all kinds of illness. It's debated who that man could have been and what he has done, but it could not have been natural. A name for this rice is still being sought, as it clearly solved all of the colony's grain supply issues in the long run.

The Holy Kingdom of Eadn

More ships. I can only repeat myself. Seven frigates are now the fleet of Eadn.

On the other hand, a ship is seen entering the system. Whilst it first appears to be only surveying a few outer planets, it clearly takes notice of the colony and is now on direct course towards it. (Encounter)

Imperial Republic of Mankind

Our people are Imperials. The Emperor, so a vast percentage of them proclaim, has nothing but acted in our interest and has protected us. He is OUR Emperor. The election is won with 87% of all given votes by Alexander Varellion. He remains Emperor now and in the future.

People demand this new frigate to be named "Emperor's Hand" in regards to the won election by Emperor Varellion. It is a reminder that he is the one protecting them.

The first prototype is finished. An exoskeleton, fusion powered for this first one, a hydraulic enhanced suit with a lighter than planned Itoron-Steel alloy as plating proves to be the first type of its kind. A power armor yet to be named and improved upon.

Given the suit's nature, the integration of these systems should be possible, but require a lot more resources. The scientist proclaim the suit should be the top priority and finished properly first, before they can integrate specific weapons into it, or make them compatible accordingly.

The scouting yields no results this time, but it was a lot for a single corvette to survey. Those are hundreds of solar systems they have been ordered to scout.

The Free Human Technocracy

Project XYZ is finished.

The Sovereign Military Order of Malta

The spaceport is finished as planned. It comes just right to refurbish the old colony ship again with the new drive. (4/4 AP to SL 1)

The ship is equipped with the Quantum Beacon as planned and syncronized with the Anchor satellite in orbit around the colony. But for it to be used again, more resources have to be assigned to replenish its systems and stores.

Aegis

The manage to finish a small freighter for the purpose of transport, but that is all they manage to do with the allocated resources.

The embassy is established as planned. No need to mention anything in particular here.

The expansion of the additional shipyard facilities goes also as planned. But it will take more resources and time to actually finish it and make the shipyard suitable for bigger constructions. (1/2 AP for SL 2)

Aurora

Whilst the colony is settling in nicely, the planet yields nothing unique in terms of resources thus far.

It is a first, but it is done. A real forcefield is created on small scale under high effort with an emitter prototype. It is capable of withstanding smaller arms fire, although bigger projectiles penetrate it to some degree.

The first girders for the expanded structure halls are being put in place, but it will take a lot more effort and time for that. (1/6 AP to SL 3).

United States Of Arcturus

The carrier is finished, and mighty it is. A ship capable of leading a fleet, certainly.

The frigates are also delivered against the quite substantial payment in Itoron, but the Skellar claim that as a favor outstanding too and mention they might come back to the United States of Arcturus at some point.

TfST9Cr.png

The main trade routes flow as follows. The route between Tjieran and Protorian space is blocked due to war.

There are no Itoron deposits to be found.

Silver Knight Corporation

Whilst it is perfected for the different areas of use with the current technological standard, the issues remain that the vehicle is inefficient in one combat form in the other area of combat.

The upgrade of the shipyard is finished as plan regardless (2/2 AP to SL 2).

Events

The grinding gears of warfare are heard, heavy losses are reported for the Tassaran Republic, who though state they have caused about two times the casualties to the Corrupter Dominion. The Protorian Council comments that they have sustained severe losses against the Trialition of the Tjierans, Ceri and Ascardians. Whilst they were able to prevent the loss of any territory, it appears that it does not go too well, the brute force of the three nation's combined forces and fleets bringing the Protorian colossus to waver.

The Kalronian Ystor Rule publicly broadcasts that everyone else is unworthy and should be purged. The Ganvius nation in response announces publicly that the Kalronians won't dare, lest they suffer a war at their hands. It can only be assumed that these two nations have been at an armaments race for centuries.

Limited trading with the Karass Dominion goes quite uneventful. They have some regulations, but are normally open for trade.

There are no more eerie signals from the East.

The Libellan Union and Skellar Kingdom forge an alliance.

The red and blue regalia draped off her hull as the great hulk of itoron in the form of the first carrier sat on various magnetic slides within the large drydock, surrounding her had to be 1000 people ranging from congressmen, governors key officials, naval, army and airforce officers as well as engineers and ordinary citizens seated on the steel benches provided. The newly elected leader of the US, President Calvin Jenkins stood at the podium as he began to address the crowd “Governors, congressmen, distinguished guests, VIPs, Ladies and Gentlemen. For many years now the goal of a true carrier strike force, capable of defending our interests at home and abroad has been the hopes. Goals even, of many for close to ten years now. With the recent aggressive acts led by the Terran Federation, against us and our allies in their hopes to reign unopposed over all humans in a junta like hegemony. We must be able to respond to their threats in any means necessary. This carrier will be one of many, defending the freedom and rights of the people of the United States and her allies against the forces of SATO and notably the dictatorial Terran Federation. For all the People of the United States, I christen thee, the USS Valley Forge. May God bless this ship and all who serve on her." With that, the champagne bottle held from a steel cable on the roof was allowed to fall, swinging silently before shattering against the hull. With that the slides unlocked and the ship began to slide through the plasma membrane door of the drydock out into space as the band began to play.

Spoiler

After many years, it was finally complete. Pride of the US Navy and a true asset to defending the United States and her allies. A  new age had begun for the United States and the HCF. They would defend their homes from all who were foolish enough to try and take them.

Hephaestus Holdings Incorporated

Baby and Party Supplies SLASHED by 50%!!

"The Night to Remember! The Party of the Decade! The Billionaire Bash!"

Y6xhT8c.jpg

Habi-dome H-15 was filled to capacity. The concrete and steel roads were covered with excited shareholders and employees. Everywhere, LED and Neon signs blared out names, net values, and the latest deals from local retailers. Pandemonium heightened to a fever pitch when the guests started to arrive.

All the members of the Board arrived one by one, flying in the latest models of vacuum-sealed transports. Hephaestus Enforcers cordoned off the landing areas from scrabbling marketeers, entrepreneurs, and spruikers--all vying for time with the wealthiest shareholders in the Corporation.

Reporters kept themselves apart from the mob, observing the demeanour and outfits of the oncoming guests. There was always someone to taken down a peg, or a scandal waiting to be discovered. Billionaires, millionaires, wealthy alien visitors, and holovision stars arrived next, all waltzing down the Hephaestus-blue pathway waving to envious onlookers--a gesture both magnanimous, and egotistical. Slowly, this elite group made their way into the foyer of the Grand Cairo Casino.

Making their way inside, they were greeted by the most immaculately-catered showroom ever to be organised on Hades. The finest chefs, servers, imported delicacies, and exotic music were all on display. The colour blue was draped over everything, the cutlery was pure silver, and everyone in the room knew it was a PR-move by CEO Steven Penrith. However, they didn't care. A party like this hadn't been seen since Earth, and now was the time to indulge in their opulence.

Synth-alchohol ran like water. Dancing was attempted by both the sober and drunk. Laughter rang throughout the halls. What kept people invested (and not wandering off to other parties) was the 'surprise' to be announced at the stroke of midnight. Or at least that's what was written on their invitations. Around 11:45PM, a very sober Milly Price joined a similarly sober Phillip Narau at the latter's table. Phillip was quietly picking through an odd combination of grgl goop and Indian curry. It was impossible to tell if he was enjoying it on not--his cold expressions revealed little, and his facial tattoos obscured anything else.

Milly however clearly appeared perturbed. Unlike her compatriot, she wanted people to know how she felt about things. It was helpful for her underlings to understand what made her furious and what made her less-furious.

"Good evening, Milly. I trust you're enjoying the festivities?"

"Don't give me that diplomatic 'good evening' ****, Phil." The rapid-fire insult did nothing to change Phillip's placid sensibilities, though she continued regardless. "You've seen Steven's secretary lately?"

Phillip calmly wiped his mouth with a napkin, and folded his hands on his lap. "If you're talking about what I think you are, the answer is 'yes.' If you're asking how long I've known, the answer is 'a month.'

The stout woman's fists balled up with a sharp gasp. She quickly glared around herself for listeners, before hissing back at the indifferent Maori. "A month?! You've known a bloody month and you told no-one?! Do you know what a scandal

like this could mean for the corporation?! What if the paparazzi-"

"They'd do what? Inform the public that Mr Penrith is doing his part for the continuity of the human race and the Corporation?" He picked up his fork again, and dug it back into his meal. "How very ghastly."

"But they're not-"

"Who cares? Those old conventions died with Earth. Even if people still concerned with officiating ancient familial bonds, it would still be unlikely to effect our branding." Phillip chewed on his curry-goop thoughtfully. "You should be happy. This removes a future conflict for the corporation."

Milly took a moment to massage her temples and take a few deep breaths.

"Does Steven know?"

Phillip paused mid-chew, and stared at her blankly. This action spurred Milly to rest her head on the table with a groan.

"Jesus Christ."

Their chatter was almost immediately cut off, when a blaring Hephaestus jingle trilled from the band, followed by the dimming of the lights. Gasps and chitters wafted through the gathered crowd of industrialists as Steven Penrith stepped on stage with a young, blond woman on his arm.

"G'day! G'day everyone! What a lovely party, right? Bloody beautiful! Anyone tasted those Tassarean clams? What's the deal with them, hey? Ha! Okay, alright...
So some of you might know this party is celebrating our ten year's anniversary from when we left that old Earth of ours and came here. Close enough, anyway. It's been a little longer but hey--who's counting?" A rumble of enthusiastic laughter rolled throughout the audience.

"I figured since we've been out here so long, and due to our newest expansion upon 'Grand Ares,' the time's come to do a little thinking, you know? Self-reflection is important. And I was thinking 'hey, we're not really holding anything, are we?' Kind of a weird thing to have in a name, yeah? Hephaestus Holdings is a good brand. But does it represent our galactic  ambitions? Our steadfast will to strive forward into the great unknown for our customers? Nah, mate. So...
A soft, synthesised drum-roll began to play, while a gaggle of stagehands pushed a trolly upon the stage--a throw-sheet covering what seemed to be a statue. Steven shot the obscured statue finger-guns with a smile, and the young woman on his arm laughed.

"I will let the lovely Ms Horowitz 'draw back the curtain.' On you go, sweetheart..."

The young woman, with an ear-to-ear smile across her face, practically danced over to the statue, and hauled the sheet away. Beneath, revealed a cheery new logo. Very similar to the current Hephaestus Holdings brand, but sleeker and more minimalist.

"I officially announce the change of our name to Hephaestus Enterprises! Now there's a bloody name!"

The crowd erupted in applause and laughter. A new future was becoming real. The last bastions of their history on Earth was slowly sailing away in a haze of alcohol, food, and good cheer.

Very few people noticed that secretary Sally Horowitz looked a little heavier than usual.

Action Points

The largest subsidiaries in the heavy industry district receive an order from the Board. Apparently, the Terran Federation desires the Corporation to manufacture a limited run of their combat droids. Having received the schematics (and signing a binding contract to prevent them from stealing the designs) the factories begin to forge 200 MK I, and 75 Mark II Hunters. Each with a cheery Hephaestus Enterprises logo stamped on their feet. All to be given to the Terrans upon completion.

Jason Woolard looks upon the surface of Grand Ares with greedy delight. So pristine. So smooth.

So ripe for exploitation.

The extra gravity on the planet presents a small problem, but nothing they can't adapt to with artificial gravity. Jason looks to his miners, and points in the general direction of the Itoron deposits. He yells "fetch," and the whole throng scurries forth to tear apart their new world. Anyone not involved with setting up pre-fabricated housing digs the earth for itoron with zero consideration for cleanliness and waste-management.

The new logo fits better on the shipyard, which pleases the builders. They happily push to finish the upgrades.

The little Grgl freighter is commanded to look around the newly-claimed system for a small planet or asteroid. A body unlikely to draw much attention.
