Sioltaeleh, the Wood Elf

Recommended Posts

Character’s name: Sioltaeleh

Character’s sex:  female

Character’s race:  Wood elf

Character’s age:  51

Biography: She was born in the year 1583 and raised in the capital of the Dominion of Malin, Laureh'lin, where she spent all of her life until now. She has never before left the city, never really having cause too though she plans to soon as she is seeking adventure and excitement.

Like most, if not all, other woodelves from Laureh'lin, she is a follower of the Aspectism religion, having 'believed it' from the time she could reason and was taught by her parents. She is not a devout practitioner, in that she doesn't know and observe all of it's doctrine. However, she is open to learning and discussing the religion with others whenever the topic arises.

As her name implies, Sioltaeleh, which means lone mind in elven, she has been a loner all of her life, staying to her self mostly though secretly she longs for the companionship of others. She can never decide if she is truly a loner by choice or by destiny, undecided if she is because of the influence her name may have over her life.

Growing up, she only knew one thing: carpentry, as both of her parents were in the trade. Her family, having practiced woodworking all their lives, the trade being passed down from generation to generation, her family is the self-proclaimed best woodworkers and carvers in Laureh'lin, though most, if anyone, has not heard of their work because though they plan each time something is crafted to sell it to the general public, they wind up keeping the finished product for themselves, as most hoarders do.

As a child, she was considered an odd one, kind of like Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter. She saw things in ways that others did not and her interpretation of what she saw was far different than what others saw. However, as she grew and matured, she began to see and realize that others did not see things as she did and kept those details to herself. She was very explorative and was almost always in the woods exploring places where most others wouldn't go: dark and dank groves that seemed scary or even possessed to the other children, as an example. She never knew fear as, as mentioned before, her outlook on things were far different than others'. And some thought she was rather loony or didn't possess her senses or a clear mind because of it.

Personality Traits: She enjoys long walks through the forest, enjoying the serenity and beauty of nature, be it alone or with friends, and even with a stranger at times if she instinctively trusts him/her. She enjoys chit-chat and making friends. She fast to help those in need, even if it could be detrimental to her own safety. She puts the needs of others before her own and will sacrifice anything she has in order to see a sad person turn happy.

Ambitions: She aspires to be nothing more than she already is, a gentle souls that others can turn to for a friend or rely on for anything. However, this does not mean that she will just sit on a lump and watch life pass her by. No. She will grab life by the horns and sees where situations carry her. "All things must change, and with those changes, so too, can a person change." -a self-made quote that she likes to ponder about at times, wondering about the different ways her life can/will change in the future.

Strengths/Talents: She is very good with her hands and her talents consist of woodworking and sculpturing.

Weaknesses/Inabilities: Controlling her temper. Sometimes she can take the words of others out of context from the original meaning and her temper easily flares when she feels she is be-wronged in any way.

Appearance: She is rather slim and shapely, her walk that of one who is extremely graceful. She has brownish-red hair, that leans more to the reddish side and her eyes are a bright green. She wears a skirt that reaches just past her knees and a top that hangs loosely on her shoulders. She has a 'crown' of various colored flowers that wrap around her head, helping to keep her hair at bay, as it seems that it could just turn into a raging inferno of fire. All of her clothing is various hues of green and brown for a large part of it all, though there is some yellow and orange/red as well.

THE BEGINNING OF HER STORY:

Sioltaeleh, while wandering the forests of Laureh'lin, suddenly felt the urge to travel; to travel out of her home town. She could not explain it, nor did she question it. So, she began walking, not knowing where her feet would lead her, nor where she would end her journey. After several days and nights, she found herself at the druid grove and she sat down for a moment, contemplating what that meant. She determined, as she believed all things in her life was, that it was destined that she join the Druidic Order, so she seeked out a Guide. During her time there, she was informed to go to the library and spend some time reading until a guide approached her. After what felt like hours and hours of reading and waiting, a guide finally approached her and interviewed her. At the conclusion of the interview, the guide decided she would begin her tasks the following day. Anxious and excited to see what this new path leads to, she goes about her day meagerly awaiting for the guide to return.
