OzYmandi 647 Share Posted August 13, 2017 The Pryderi ((Special thanks to: Sloth and Soviet, for writing all of this, Soviet for the Images and Sloth for reviewing)) “Peidiwch byth â beichiogi, ofni bob amser.” (Never conquered, always feared.) Basic History and Ancestral Roots: The Pryderi are descended from a group of Highlanders who formed a settlement in the mountains of Ceru. Living off the wildlife there, they rarely had wars. Except with other tribes of the Pryderi. Started by a group of eight men and eight women, as well as seven children. The men and women as expected, got together. The seven children grew up hardy and used to the cold of the north, and they of course began making children of their own. And so, the Pryderi spread. However, in the early 1500s, disease spread, killing hundreds of the Pryderi. The once great people were reduced to one tribe, the Dictydd was no longer a rank for them, and instead, only a Chieftan remained. Gráeff Rhawena, who currently leads the Rhawena tribe. The only surviving tribe. Culture and Religion: The Religion of the Pryderi varies, depending on what Pryderi you ask. The common man of the Pryderi believes in two Gods. Together, the two are their balance in the world. Tywyll and Golau. Tywyll is the God of everything dark, bad, destructive. Golau is the Goddess of everything peaceful, good, and things related to that.. However, the Druii of the Pryderi believe in both the Aspects and Pryderism. The Pryderi Druii are important to the tribes, serving as doctors, medics, preachers, and sometimes even warriors if they are needed. Society and Monetary system: Pryderian society is primal compared to those that surround it. Each tribe having its own ruler, with one above them all, one would call them a tribal federation, with each tribe making their own choices, with the agreement of the Dictydd (High Chief). The Dictydd has the option to deny or accept a chieftain’s request and the Dictydd’s decision is final. A Dictydd is elected through a combat system. Each tribe elects their Dewyswyd (Chosen) and all of them battle in a mud pit with blunt swords, to show which is the strongest. After the combat, the one who’s left and prevailed over the others shall be crowned Dictydd and will rule over the Pryderi. As for money, the Pryderi are much like halflings, they use trade for their inside economy and mina for the import and export of their goods. Aside from that, the Pryderi have no set money system of their own, though attempts have been made. Military Organization: Related to wars and military, the Pryderi are primal. Without ranks, they are commanded by a single man, given the title of Cadlywyd, or Cadly, for short. The Cadly deals with all the warbands of each tribe. The Pryderi rely simply on numbers, each warband has few, almost ten people with actual, decent training. Those who get that training are the Dûn, who are recognised in the battlefield by their tattoos. When a Pryderi soldier gets his first tattoo, he starts growing his beard. He only cuts it or trims it when he loses in combat, dying or shaving his beard. Rituals: Marriage for the Pryderi is an important commitment, for the Pryderi they are eternally bonding their souls for this life and the afterlife. A Druii binds the two, by speaking a phrase that will do so. Coming of Age is another important tradition for the Pryderi. It is when a child becomes a man. During this, the child will go on a hunt to kill one of the largest things they can find, and then bring it back for the whole tribe to eat. Be it a boar, bear, or another animal. Coronation is when a minor Chieftain becomes the Dictydd. The one that wins the Dûn Duels becomes the High Chieftain and gets coronated. During this, a Druii makes the Individual swear to protect the Pryderi and to not betray his people. (Crown of Bones, Legendary Pryderi headgear for the Dictydd.) Language: ((Based off Welsh)) Yes - Os No - Na Please - Os gwelwch yn da Thanks - Diolch Good Morning - Bore da Good Afternoon - Prynhawn da Good Night - Nos da May the Gods bless you - Dûw yn bendithio ((Other words and phrases used shall be translated via PM’s if a Pryderi is chatting with the other in their language. Non-pryderi won’t receive the translation, unless absolutely necessary)) Gráeff’s Rule Events. 1590-1600: Re-united the destroyed Pryderi under his rule. First Dictydd to rise without a duel. 1610: Re-connected to the religious roots with the help of his brother, Eòin. 1612: Fought off a ghoulish invasion, five people surviving and their village destroyed. 1614: Settle on Ceru, island of Sutica. 1615: Built a great hall for the Pryderi, start of the Years of Joy (Blynyddoedd o Lawenydd) 1615-1619: Years of Joy. 1620: Second Great Plague. Six survivors, including Gráeff. 1620-1621: Re-establish in Ceru. 1622: Talk with the Daelish. Deal almost sealed. 1623: Set deal with the Verisi.
