emaciated africans can wear full plate almost entirely effectively, it's not that heavy, its just an issue of being in a ridiculously hot metal suit

Can mages still train in swordsmanship above average if they have golem limbs (or any other prosthetic that wont tax direct stamina?)

I suppose they could, yeah. Though you wouldn't need to have a prosthetic; so long as it isn't a rapier or estoc, you should be fine to rp. Just remember, stamina's a cruel mistress

You really have to make the mages even weaker?

In what way does this change anything about mages except define the previously existing limitations of void use?

Due to muscle deterioration, a mage is physically weaker than your average soldier (who are actually a lot more fit than your average civilian). Mages are able to technically lift and carry heavy (metal) objects, yes. Yet, after a short time of use would find their stamina very drained. Mages might be able to pick up a warhammer and give it a good swing, but after a handful more are not going to be lifting it much further or at least the swinging with staggered, easily-dodged hits. The same applies to pretty much anything that starts to get over even 15 lbs. I'd even wager that with some mages, due to their mastery, it'd be even less.

The point of a vanilla mage is that they use their magic to compensate their weaknesses. If you wanted to be a Heavy Metal Warrior, you chose the wrong profession or more likely are just doing magic wrong. Any wizard worth the spit will find a means to overcome their limitations.

In-fact. This examination of the void user is exactly what's needed to combat the apparent disease that is powergaming magic. No one wants to RP their curses, but are more than happy to enjoy the blessings.
