Kingdom of Denmark-Norway

Frederick the V faltered and lost his balance trying to exit the carriage. Adam Moltke quickly caught and steadied him, averting his gaze. Muttering a gruff thanks, Frederick properly got out. Following him was his royal entourage, son, and close advisors. Among them were many great Danish. Generals stood side by side with artist and religious minds, close friends of the queen. Their task at hand was inspection of a army detachment. Around four thousand men stood neatly lined. All with their muskets shouldered on the right, the left arm lined against their torsos. The King began his tour, stopping to talk to some. As he did this the Queen broke off with some of her followers. They were talking to the officers wives, all dressed up for this ceremony.

For these men were to soon be departing Denmark. They were the newest detachment in the King's army. These 'Danish Colonial Guard' were to soon be boarding ships. The majority of them would be shipped to African/Indian holdings. The rest were to depart for the Caribbean. The Danish navy would work in concert with the transports, ensuring a heavy guard. Work was to precede the incoming troops. In Africa, India, and the far east colonies expansion is planned. The Danish East India Company will take loans from it's respective U.K and Dutch companies. This money will be used to expand and improve the various forts, trade stations, and colonies. That and pay for the new garrisons. The loans will be kept small and pay back will begin within the next year.

The Danish court and King had for a while now been concocting new and bold plans for advancements. And now thanks to a new benefactor they can truly begin. Resources will begin to come in from all sectors of the Kingdom. And with the help of U.K naval experts, work will commence. The Danish navy not occupied with escorting the transports will undergo training. As this happens and the resources stockpile, ships are planned to be built. For now the Danes will focus on building ships able to solve the growing logistics of their colonial holdings. They will base their ships with U.K help under their own elite standards.

A growing interest of the King had also been fostered in other areas. A growing arms and canon industry in Copenhagen has been supported. They will continue to help pay for the investments, and education of workers. Danish industry is hoped to be fostered and grown in the city of Copenhagen.

Actions

Sending 4,500 troops to D/N colonies

Taking loans to Improve/Expand Colonies

Training and rebuilding Danish navy

Fostering growth of Industry in Copenhagen.

FIDES AD SALUTIS

To all Cardinals, Bishops,

Priests, Deacons,

Acolytes, Princes and

Lay People.

His Holiness BENEDICT XIV, SUPREME & SOVEREIGN  PONTIFF, VICAR OF CHRIST, FISHER OF MEN, SUCCESSOR OF THE PRINCE OF THE APOSTLES, ARCHBISHOP AND METROPOLITAN OF THE ROMAN PROVINCE, BISHOP OF ROME, PATRIARCH OF THE WEST, SOVEREIGN OF THE STATES OF THE CHURCH AND SERVANT OF THE SERVANTS OF GOD; doth decree:

Brethren in God:

We see how the faithful in the land of Alfred the Great, Patrick and Columba weep for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass within their land. The faithful are persecuted and hunted down and branded ‘recusants’ if they do not partake in the sinful and false activities held within the Church of England. We henceforth will allow all the Catholics subjugated under Anglican Yoke to partake in their false and heretical beliefs as long as they, in the privacy of their home or mind recant the heresies laid out by Henry VIII and keep the Catholic Faith. Furthermore we shall continue to send ordained ministers to minister to the land of Britain, to offer the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, Christen, Marry and Hear Confessions of the faithful held hostage within their own realm. [Mod]

We will also further the goal of any good Christian, that being to spread the Good News throughout the world. We understand and are fully aware of the multitude of Tribes, Races, Realms and Kingdoms in the land of Asia, and we grieve and honour all Martyrs who died therein. We henceforth shall send ministers from the Society of Jesus, Order of Preachers of Saint Dominic, Mendicant Ministers of all the Franciscan Orders, as well as the Cistercian Order of Saint Bernard. It is our hope that they shall find many new believers in the continent of Asia and China, as well as the islands of the Philippines. [Mod]

We also pray that the Eastern Catholics within the lands of the Kingdom of the Poles and Lithuanians preach the word to their Orthodox counterparts. We pray and command all Patriarchs, Metropolitan, Archbishops, Bishops, Archpriests, Priests, Deacons, Altar Servers and monks who follow the Byzantine Rite and are in Communion with Us, to spread the Catholic Truth among the lands of the Ruthenians, namely Ukraine and White Ruthenian ((Belarus)). It is our deep and truthful sentiment that more faithful will be baptised within the lands of the east. [Mod]

It is also our wish to see the men of the Tribe of Ham, all those men of darker skin than ours, be in Holy Communion with Us. We compel ordained ministers Chapter of the Society of Jesus in Portugal to proclaim the Word in the lands of Africa. Our most loyal and trusted King of the Kongo is already a member of Our Church; let us spread the word further amongst the barbarians and lift them up into Salvation. [Mod]

Pope Benedict XIV

Benedict is not a political man. His interests are more towards reviving Thomist Theology and spreading Catholicism; Horace Walpole described him as “a priest without insolence or interest, a prince without favourites, a pope without nephews”, he prefered to send out Golden Bulls, write books and read than to rule the Papal States proper. He handed the political powers over to Gian Francesco Cardinal Albani. Cardinal Albani was of an influential papal family, his father was the Duke of Soriano and his great-uncle had been Pope Clement XI.

xZhAxJp.jpg

Cardinal Albani

Albani was a competent man, not tied to any Germanic Prince-Bishopric or French Abbey, he was perfect for the job. Albani saw that, in economic terms, the Papal States were rather lacking. Whilst the Papacy was wealthy due to the countless taxes levied by the Church within most Catholic nations Albani thought that Rome should be less dependent on external wealth. Albani then ordered the construction of many Clothing Manufactories would be ordered to be built, they’d use the wool from local sheep herders. Albani hoped that this aid Rome’s local economy would begin to be built up. [Mod]

Another venture, this time undertaken by Pope Benedict himself would be the construction of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences, where a number of studies would be present from Theology to Natural Sciences. Special emphasis was placed on Thomist Theology as well as the Sciences. This Academy, although Catholic, would not be placed in the hands of the Jesuits, but the Piarists, a clear sign of the general distrust placed upon the Jesuits at this time. His Holiness would hope that this new Academy would bring new-found renown and prestige to Rome. [Mod]

New efforts to urbanize Rome would be undertaken. Rome was, in many ways, a rural city, near the Colosseum and other ancient Roman structures it wasn’t uncommon to find farms and country cottages. Albani wished to bring prestige to the Papal States, to affirm that the Church Estates aren’t just the dominion of a Bishop but a real Kingdom. New, wider streets are planned, fountains for water, new markets etc, are planned to be built. If the Manufactories work, then a number of rural migrants would be interested in moving to the cities, mainly Rome. [Mod]

Another of Albani’s ambitions was to create a sizeable Papal Navy, he thus approached the Order of Malta. The Order had been, for centuries, a defense mechanism for the Barbary Muslim pirates as well as a thorn on the Ottoman’s side. They’d accrue a large number of  Galleys, Galliots, Galleons, Ships-of-the-Line and other ships. Being a militant order they had to answer to the Pontiff, thus Albani made His Holiness sign a document, requesting that the Order of Malta officially grant all its ships to joint ownership. The Grandmaster of the Order is thusly made the ‘Supreme Admiral of the Pontifical Fleet’, said fleet would own about 11 Ships of the line as well as many Galleons, Galleys, Frigates and others.

The River of San Bartolomeo

With the new influence over the Order of Malta, Cardinal Albani would order them to set up ventures within Africa, respectively the Gambia River. Small trading ports, akin to the Portuguese Feitoria system, where they’d build fortresses to trade with the Natives. While the Slavery wasn’t permitted in the Papal States, if the local chieftains wished they could sell their slaves there to other Europeans. Albani makes a deal with the British Government which has superiority over the region; through the priests sent by the papacy King George is extolled for his tolerance and the catholic subjects are told to cooperate as best they can, whilst the British will give them Fort James. Fort James is renamed Fort Dandolo and the river becomes known as San Bartolomeo River. [Mod]

Vladika of Montenegro sat quietly in his, ironically, humble throneroom, in the capital city of Podgorica. He sighed and looked to the Guard that stood by him.

“Summon the Council.” he ordered.

“At once, my lord.” the guard hasted off.

About 10 minutes later, came about Domagoj, Steward of Montenegro, Zvonimir, Ambassador and Nenad, Head of the Army. They all sat on a small round table that fit exactly four people, in a corner of the room.

“Domagoj, give me a status…” The bishop ordered.

“Well, my Liege, as usual we have a stable amount of money, whereas our neighbors are obviously better, we can hang on. I do suggest, however, that we invest in some industry, here in Podgorica. It could award us some money in the future…” Domagoj said, running through his Book of Finances.

“Good. You do that.” The bishop nodded to the Steward, who then walked off. “Zvonimir. I’ve a task for you.” He passed over a letter. “Send this to the Venician.. It is a non-agression pact. Tell them that I wish for nothing but good relations with our venician neighbors but also add a… secret little thing in a talk that us here are scared of the Ottoman threat.” The bishop nodded and Zvonimir left without a word.

“Nenad, we’re short on time. You wont speak today. I’ve a task. Send half of our active men to the Ottoman border at once” Danilo ordered. Nenad too left without a word.

-----------------

TL;DR and ACTIONS:

-Investments in industry on the city of Podgorica (MOD)

-Letter sent to Venice on a defensive alliance, internationally said as a ‘non-agressio pact’ [Venice Player]

-50% of the Montenegrin troops deployed on the Ottoman border.

El Reino de España

Inflation

-Ferdinand VI, under the advice of the Marques de Ensenada, begins a campaign to eliminate the inflation that has plagued the Spanish Economy ever since the massive amounts of precious metals have been surging in from the new world. The new campaign works subtly, not wanting to harm the economy even more. For now, the government decreases creating as much coin as it did before, hoping that this way the value of the Spanish Real will slowly rise.

-Also regarding the inflation crisis, the crown begins to finally cast an eye onto the problem of silver and other precious metals. The change, is the return of the quinto real, or kings fifth. The Kings fifth, was a tax placed on precious metals in 1504 with the extremely high influx of exotic ores flowing from the new world. In 1723, the quinto real was lowered 10 percent from 20. Historically, this tax was a massive fountain of income for the Spanish Monarchy. Key advisors at Madrid and the various colonial capitols have spoken to the monarch about this subject, however other ministers and prominent statesmen have swatted them away. However now, Ferdinand opens his ears to the proposals. In a law labeled ‘Proclamacion real de los ingresos” or, Royal Proclamation of Income’. This is the legislature that finally raises the tax from its current stature, to what it was during the time of the Hapsburgs.

-It is hoped, that through these changes, the inflation that has plagued Spain for all these years can begin to normalize and prices will deflate across the empire and beyond in Europe and in the explored parts of the world.

Portuguese Question

Nestled in the Palacio Real in Madrid, an important meeting was happening. Ferdinand is seated next to his wife, Barbara, both in royal attire sitting on their regal gold thrones. Zenon de Somodevilla, the marquis de Ensenada, fires up from his chair, “The Portuguese government has used its stolen colony on the Banda Oriental, against us!” Hed wring his hands passionately, shooting glances at the other statesmen and nobles presiding over the matter. “Will you not open your eyes?! The City of Buenos Aires is overrun by illegal trade, and smuggling! Something must be done!” His tone would quiet, as he slowly calms down “Something must be done about this, it is harming our empire and our assets in the new world, and gentlemen, we cannot let that happen, for it was given to us by God.” At the end of his statement, he would offer Ferdinand a glance, however Ferdinand’s eyes were fixed on the next speaker. The grandiose room would break into murmurs and off-shoot conversations, as the marquis finishes his statement. Some men, clap, others jeer from their seats. Another man, Jose de Carvajal y Lancastre, a known Anglophile, shoots up and the room quiets once more: “We cannot spend even more money on another costly war, for all of us in this room know that if we attack Portugal, England will come knocking. We have just gotten out of a war with them, it is illogical and plain stupid to do so again at this point.” Before Jose even sits down, Zenon perks up, “We can defeat the Portuguese before the English ever have a chance to strike!”, the patriots in the room, applaud for Zenon. However, the business men and money launderers, publicize their support for Jose. Until now, the royalty has remained silent on the issue, allowing its ministers and politicians to debate the issue. Ferdinand looks onwards with a dull look, as all ways. Barbara, stands up “The Minister is correct, we have already done Portugal in, I believe it would be best for us to rebuild from the war, as all of the gentlemen in this room know so.” Shed elegantly sit down, and as she down so, mocks can be heard around the room. “You’re a woman! Sit down!” a certain count yelled out. The fact is, Barbara has a key role in Spanish Politics, and even though some may not agree with it, she ignores it, and sits down as she was, reaching for the Kings hand. The Minister of Treasury, rises from his seat. He is a rather stout figure, with a pomp wig. “From an economic stand point, this war is disastrous. More costly than the one two years ago.” He finally turns to Ferdinand, bowing as per customs, “If you want the business stand point of this, your majesty, it is horrible, and I needn’t not say anything more about that.” He would bestow upon  the minister with a short nod. Over the course of the debate, several men stood up and whispered things into the Kings ear, however none of it can be deciphered exactly. As a low count was about to speak, finally the King rises, hand in hand with Barbara. A wave of bows procures around the room, as the Kings voice begins to croak, “In this meeting, several opinions were aired. However, for the good of the nation, I believe we may seek peace, rather than war.” He’d say, glancing towards Zenon. “However, something must be done about the Portuguese.” He’d say, looking towards Jose’s side of business men, and anglophiles alike.” Th-“the king would begin to say, however a diplomat, would approach him, bowing, and whispering something in his ear. He nods, and the diplomat returns to his seat. “I have come to the conclusion, through much thought and help from all of you, that it is best to meet with the Portuguese to discuss this matter. If peace fails, violence will prevail.” Hed say, returning to his throne. Some men, would protest this, some would applaud it. However, the King has commanded, and we must obey.

-The Portuguese are asked to convene in Badajoz, to settle this controversial colonial dispute once and for all.

Military

-In the major ship-building centres of Spain, a newly passed and ambitious naval plan is passed by the Corte General. Per year, the Government funds 4 new ships of the line to be built per year, with 10 frigates. It is hoped that this can increase the size and quality of the Spanish Navy, however it mainly focuses on Navy. In the select cities that the plan is taking place in, which are: Havana, Cadiz, Manila, Cartagena, and Veracruz, it is hoped that this city can develop to become large and trade filled cities with lots of income arriving to the state. As a second part of the plan, the Government funds two new Galleons for the Spanish Treasure fleets. In total and per year, the government invests about 10 million reales a year. It is hoped that this can be easily paid by the raised taxes.

-The crown also puts to use in creating a reliable musket which it can use to supply its armies scattered around the globe. The rifle, should be no less the .65 calibre, with a flintlock action mechanic and musket ball as ammunition. The Spaniards request that the gun be reliable, and long range. As a jest, a petty officer of the army was bantering with one of the creators of the musket, who suggested its name by Cacafuego, or, ‘fireshitter’. Informally, this name was dubbed amongst the small group of engineers and gunsmiths behind this project. However officially, is simply named M1750. The Cacafuego musket receives 200,000 reales by the crown in funds to create this new weapon.

-A team is sent out from Lima as soon as word gets to it to begin to investigate the possibility and effectiveness of a large star shaped fort in the pacific port city of Callao. The team is asked to collect data on best positions, cost, and effectiveness against attacks and such. The purpose of the fort is to protect the coastal port city of Callao, which is practically the only effective port city in the Viceroyalty of Peru that works for international trade, mainly from the pacific.

-In the colonies, efforts at recruitment grow substantially, as heralders are paid to stress the need to join the Spanish Army and Navy. Papers are printed with heroic stories of the Spanish Army to instill patriotism and a calling for duty to the fatherland. It is hoped that with this program, the numbers of the army may increase substantially, and the government will have to spend less time, money, and resources in transporting troops and resources from the mainland to the colonies. All soldiers recruited are added to the current Spanish colonial army, which is headed by white peninsular Spaniards and currently stands at a measly 10,000 to cover for almost an entire continent.

Internal Affairs

-The colonial administration targets the still prevalent native Indian languages in the new world. While Spanish is still de facto used on the administrative level, the local Indian languages are used among the peasantry and normal people of the empire. The crown wishes to change this. A new law requires Jesuit missionaries to encourage and teach converts and newly baptized people of the empire to learn Spanish. The priests and monks highlight the importance of learning the Spanish language, portraying a heavenly outlook on the language and saying that It will be extremely beneficial to them in the future, through trade, and for their ambitions.  It becomes a requirement in missionaries and monks to open complimentary Spanish classes to the native population, where the pupils are taught Spanish, and about god, if the teachers and ministers wish so. The crown specifically emphasizes that the natives and tribal are not to be forced to learn Spanish, and can only be highly encouraged among people who visit the houses of God.

-The colonial administration invests large amounts of money into finding large deposits of precious metals other than silver, mainly gold, and highly valued gems such as Emeralds, Rubies, and Diamonds. As this project was created by Zenon and therefore the crown, all deposits and reserves discovered are automatically Seized by the crown and monopolized. Should the expedition find any of these deposits, it is kept under extremely high watch and surveillance, to prevent yet another major inflation crisis not only in Spain but around the world. With these expeditions, it is hoped that the Spanish Empire can surpass the large revenues of its rival empires, mainly Portugal and especially Brazil, which has recently found a massive gold deposit in Southern Brazil.

-The Spanish Inquisition office takes in the men sent by the Papacy with much gratitude, once they arrive of course. They are placed under the said office, and efforts continue by the Spanish Inquisitors to convert and fully Christianize the Philippines. However since they are are attempting to complete the same goal, they give them a high degree of autonomy, and simply just monitor them and assist them if needed.

-With the recent massive earthquake and the destruction and devastation of Lima, the largest city of Spain’s entire colonial empire, and Callao, Peru’s only port city. 5 million pesetas are granted to both Callao and Lima. Notably, Lima’s Cathedral is given numerous renovations as it takes advantage of the already poor condition it’s in to stage it. Additional and specified assets are given to this task, roughly half a million pesetas as well as a shipment of trained and skillful Spanish, French, and Neapolitan artists and stonemasons, arriving with a Spanish Treasure Fleet.

-A small band of explorers, and conquistadors head southwards, from Buenos Aires, to claim what is left of Southern America. They seek to conquer all land until the tip, and the Spanish Monarchy in Europe officially takes its claims in the territories.

Foreign Policy

-A trade agreement is struck with the Russian Government, it agrees to reserve space as well as add more galleons for goods and 20,000 serfs to be transported to Russian America on its Treasure fleets. They escort and transport the serfs to they’re specified land, and with them they bring 500 Spanish Settlers to educate the Slavic Serfs about farming, survival, and settling techniques, and help them establish good relations with the local natives as well. They open ports- only in Mexico- to Russian ships, should they rarely come, and allow them to transport colonial goods and resources to their colonies as needed. This agreement shall go on for 3 years, and over the course of that time the Russian Crown will pay the Spanish crown 300,000 rubles.

-A meeting is summoned between the Portuguese Head of state and the Spanish one, in the Spanish City of Badajoz, located centrally near both the Portuguese border and the Spanish Border.

Ottoman Empire

Sultan Mahmud I settled into into his usual throned position as he listened idly to his Viziers babble on and on about matters of state. With the ultimate conclusion being much alike to the many other similar sessions, nothing of note. Grand Vizier Mehmed Emin Pasha gives a curt nod to his Sultan as he collects the notes he had been transcribing throughout the whole affair and bid him farewell for the evening.

He is but a man of silk and Kahve Solak! Our grand Sultan is not more than a poet and scholar; his eyes are as the marbled statues which litter these halls when any man speaks of his nation.”, were the almost desperate words which escaped the Grand Vizier as he sat idle conversing with Kizlar Agha Solak the Elder, a black eunuch hailing  from Ethiopia.

He is our Sultan and you but a Grand Vizier Pasha, you must calm your fiery blood. The Empire flourishes and is ear marked by peace. Let our Sultan’s writings bathe the history books and the Viziers do their jobs proper. Our Sultan is a brilliant man of the arts and his Viziers loyal men of the Empire”, Solak mumbled as he took a drag from a hookah the pair were sharing.

You’ll never understand anything outside this damned jeweled palace Solak! You manage the Sultan’s harem, and I the the whole damned Empire. Yet you and the Sultan’s trove of women are able to bare more influence over him than I ever could hope! I had hoped your company would be enough to calm me, but you strike ever more daggers into my back. This Empire is facing rot, a rot I shall purge and heal”, with that Grand Vizier Pasha handled a hefty coin purse off to the Kizlar Agha to insure his words never left their usual place of calm and complaint.

Grand Vizier Mehmed Emin Pasha found the state of the Empire absurd, every man sat idle including the Sultan himself. He knew if the Empire were to forever rule and his position as Grand Vizier not end in exile there  would be need of grand reform. So that is what he began, the Pashan Reforms of 1750.

Affairs of the State

Domestic Policy

Reforms of Religion and Equality

The enemy of reform was not owed to statesmen or the common luddite, but to the Imams which littered every facet of the Empire. Pasha would adopt a carrot and stick form of diplomacy to the Holy Men, as he offered estates and wealth he would very slowly begin the process of lessening their overall power within the Empire. Hoping that as they partake in their own gluttony and new found wealth that they would not even notice the reforms of laws and rights within the Empire. [Mod]

The Empire oversaw a great deal of religions and ethnicities, which harbored a great deal of issues for the Empire as unrest sparked in desperate times for the Empire. For all matters of State to proceed well Pasha saw the only possible continuation for the Empire was a greater equality between the people of its Empire. So on the fourth of February he began his push for all peoples of the Empire to slowly enjoy greater autonomy and equality. The initial first step being to lessen the gap of rights between Sunnis and Christians in the Balkans. [Mod]

Reforms of Industry

Hollowed out husks of factories begin construction in lower districts of Constantinople, Pasha planning on the now empty buildings to later be filled with the proper tools needed to kickstart Howitzer and ammunition manufacturing. [Mod]

The textile industries in the Balkans is encouraged to grow through small amount of subsidies which are doled out. [Mod]

Foreign Policy

The miniscule state of Montenegro would be sent a letter post-haste once reports from Serbian village elders eventually reached the capital reporting of sighting of their army becoming alarmingly more common.

The Grand Kingdom of France would be sent a formal diplomatic letter, celebrating the new year which marked a grand future for both empires.

A letter works its way to the courts of Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth by way of a Serbian courier whose only authority was marked by the stamp of the Grand Vizier of the Ottoman Empire upon the letter he carried.

A letter would make its way from Anatolia to the isle which Great Britain sat upon.

A disarmed Janissary makes the arduous journey through Austrian Empire’s lands to deliver a letter to the Austrian Courts.

The Empires of Osman and Persia sat at odds since the rise of the Persian state, a matter which Pasha saw as ruinous for both states which sat next to the foul state of the Russian Empire. Pasha made way for the Empire’s best diplomats outside of the realm of Europe to be sent to Persian courts with scabbards empty and gifts in hand to deliver a letter. The letter entailing a formal offer for Persian and Ottoman diplomats to meet and formalize the borders between the two nations in Constantinople. Also the letter is flickered throughout with hints at future negotiations for the instating of Shia as the fifth legal sect of Islam in the Ottoman Empire if the meeting ends well and relations improve. [Mod]

The Crimean Khanate is given a lavish amount of coin and gift to begin talks with the Cossacks residing in the regions surrounding the Khanate, including the Russian Empire. The Cossacks are given gifts and are offered a greater extent of rights in Turkish lands south of the Russian border. With the offer of ability to rise in local politics, be rewarded unused plains to settle, free autonomy of their own peoples in legally distributed lands,  and ability to serve within the Ottoman army for equal pay to that of a citizen of the Balkans or Crimea given to every Cossack who vows himself to the Sultan and the Empire. [Mod]

A letter is penned to Circassia’s leader calling for a greater strengthening of political ties between the two nations. With Circassian women making up much of the Sultan’s harem, the matter ends up one of the few the Sultan himself takes interest in concerning foreign politics. [Mod]

Affairs of the Army and Navy

State of the Army

The fierce Ottoman Empire’s forces have faltered in step ever since the humiliation at the siege of Vienna, a decline which marked utter disgrace upon all whom had a scabbard upon their side. New uniforms begin to be designed and are introduced to various military leaders for their approval. The designs owing to a mix of French influence and of tradition. [Mod]

As Pasha awaits the answer from the French King on matters of their advisors, he begins to import every field manual of European origin he is able. The books of tactics being distributed to the officer-class in the army. The ultimate hope being the adoption of further European tactics and birth of a officer-class wanting to bring further European reforms within the whole army on their own volition.  [Mod]

European mercenaries begin to be hired from throughout Europe as they are placed at the head of the new Nizam-i Djedid Army. An army whose entire officer-class was made up of foreign military minds and the soldier-class of freshly recruited Anatolian Youth with young minds ready to be molded. Pasha hoping the new army would produce strong corps of soldiers with minds set in the modern age concerning warfare. [Mod]

More forts begin to be established along the borders of the empire which run along the Russian Empire and Austrian Empire. [Mod]

State of the Janissaries

Pasha saw Janissaries the prime example of rot within the Empire but kept that matter only to himself as the order of armed eunuchs held great power. Pasha would see the transfer of his personal savings to the pockets of many influential Janissaries and himself at many more occasions celebrating them. Ultimately hoping to form a political alliance between him and the warrior-class.  [Mod]

State of the Navy

Five new frigates are designated to begin construction to bolster the Ottoman Navy and insure supremacy in local waters.  [Mod]
