History of the Patron of Endings

Since the beginning of time, the Arch-Aengul has protected the Seven Skies with her blessing but little is known of the process of how souls find their eternal peace through her. However, it is Sokar the Patron of Endings whom ferries the dead to their eternal rest. Sokar is an omnipresent being who uses a bell to toll the dead as they pass into life in the Soulstream. Before the Arch-Aeungul Aeriel took the mantle of the Caretaker of souls, the souls of those whom passed on from their world would be damned to wander aimlessly without peace. When the Arch-Aengul deemed that death should be silent but absolute, Sokar, being the servant of Aeriel, created a bell from silver which she used to guide the dead to eternal peace. She fashioned two more bells, making the three: Astaerel the Weeper, Kibeth the Walker, Saraneth the Binder. Sokar used these bells to guide both mortal and deceased beings, as well as used another to slay undead during her toils with Iblees. For what many believe to be a passive Patron, Sokar is able to combat evil through using her bell Saraneth to damn evil and corrupted beings to an eternal damnation in Ebrietæs. When it was time to return to her duties in the seven skies she gifted the descendants with a bell named Bellot, which sparked the practice of ringing bells as warnings or celebratory symbols.

Sokar’s Ethereal: An Introduction

~A Ethereal Guardian Watching over the City of Sacellum within the Soulstream~

The Patron Sokar resides within a city named Sacellum, a city which emits a bright luminescent lunar light in a place shrouded with darkness within the Soulstream. In the beginning of her war with Iblees, when Sokar left the Seven Skies she created beings entirely made from raw soul essence and lunar light and energy from the Soulstream, allowing sentient guardians to manifest into reality from purged evil souls which passed into the Soulstream and forewent a process of alteration into holy and pure souls. They were to guard all entrances to the Soulstream and purge souls in Ebrietæs so that their patron can ferry them to the Arch-Aengul and fight when needed as well as defend the city of Sacellum when called upon to do so.

The way Sokar selects her guardians is an intricate and careful process. Within the deserts of the SoulStream, vast amounts of unpurged and evil souls wander and plot to invade Sacellum. They attack the city at a constant and are often beaten back by the Patron of Endings and her Ethereal. The battles rage at an unyielding pace as the war for Sacellum wages onward. Sokar will often counter these attacks by going into the deserts of the SoulStream and begin purging the evil which resides there. Every so often, Sokar will sense good within one of the evil souls she was to purge, she then offers them purification and salvation within the eternal embrace of the Caretaker of Souls and uses the fear of the soul to her advantage. Sokar strikes deals with the souls whom are to be purified, they will be cleansed but must serve a penance of servitude within the mortal realm first. Their soul, much like the Ascended is protected by their patron yet their form allows them to perform their duties freely without fear that their bond with Sokar will be broken by soul-altering magics. The Patron of Endings will send them to assist the servants of the Arch-Aengul in their endeavors upon the realm, letting the once impure souls assist in purifying those of dark ilk before they can reach the Soulstream and wage war against Sokar, Aeriel, and Sacellum.

Their being is free forming when in the Soulstream, yet upon the mortal plain they must be bound to a suit of armor so that their frameless form can be contained and used to the Guardians advantage. During their purification process, the dark and evil parts of their soul are purged, including their emotions in most cases. Thus when brought into the mortal realm, these beings are imprinted upon by their creator’s soul which can lead them to develop different personalities and emotions similar to their creators. However, although they are free forming beings they’re limited to 8ft maximum in height and that is in extremely rare cases. Upon death, the ethereal being will respawn at their place of creation, The Lunar Forge.

The Lunar Forge

The Lunar Forge is a hidden and secret forge created by the Ascended Vesper whom was at work upon a regular forge one night in the Ascended Forge area, creating artifacts and swords for his brothers and sisters of the Order of the Mongoose. As he hammered away, sparks of hot metal flung everywhere, burning holes in the sleeves of his garments. He looked up towards the fire that was in front of the anvil he was at work with. The flame appeared to take upon a bright white coloration rather than the smouldering orange color of normal flames. His gaze averted from the licks of fire for a mere moment before he looked back and what was once fire was replaced with what appeared to be a soft light that replicated the prior flame yet was more similar to moonlight.

A soft and tranquil voice entered his head as the flames danced and took form into a small altar-like depiction. The voice instructed him to build a forge unparalleled to no other so that his brothers and sisters of the order could use it to please the Caretaker of Souls. The voice told him to create the forge in a unique way so that a method of creation could be used to make beautiful creations. He found himself in a trance but as he blinked once more, the regular flames of the forge danced in the reflection of his eyes and he inscribed everything within a tome that he had seen and began work on the new forge.

The forge was created from lunar infused alloys and possessed multiple tunnels which lead to an inner chamber which spanned about 9 feet long. Four main entrance tubes sat upon the outer part of the forge, whilst a golden chamber sat in the middle. The forge was then Lunar Infused so that it could convert lunar energy from the moon to power the workings of the forge. A massive hulking frame holds the forge in place for any unwanted accidents to be reduced. In total the forge stands at a height of 15 feet tall.

~A Guardian Exploring an old Dwarven Ruin~

Circa. The Deep of Cold 1625

Ethereal Guardians are bound to the armor in which they are placed in. A unique process is used to allow these beings to pass through a rift from the Soulstream and into reality. Sokar’s Guardian’s are created of raw soul essence and lunar energy, however a bond between the user and the Ethereal Guardian must be made and maintained so that Sokar is able to establish a rift for the being to manifest into the armor that is in a chamber in the forge. However, since Soulfire is a byproduct of an Ascended’s soul connection with Aeriel and thus a gift from the Caretaker of souls, Sokar established an alternative way of blessing her champions with the ability to convert the soulfire of an Ascended and manipulate it into Lunar Energy. Because of the Lunar Infused forge, the forge is able to convert soulfire into Lunar light more fluidly which then the Guardian is able to latch onto through the rift to the Soulstream and manifest themselves using the energy from Sacellum on their side of the rift and that of the energy on the other, thus causing a link between the souls of the two.

Once the guardian is pulled through the rift and has manifested its lunar form in the golden chamber, the guardian then is able to move as they were in the Soulstream. Sokar then holds their soul in a state of limbo, allowing them to function on the mortal plain and still maintain a connection to her in the Soulstream. Due to the link between the souls and the void left by purging the evil from the soul before its reformation, the Ascended’s soul often imprints upon that of the Guardian’s, allowing similar views, traits, and characteristics to affect that of the Guardians.

The Guardian is then released from the chamber, bound to the suit of armor which was placed within, should the guardian be defeated, they themselves would manifest back at the Lunar Forge due to their soul connection to the forge, upon defeat a bright flash will emit as they return to the forge. Beneath the Guardian’s regular armor, there is solidified raw moonlight which acts as a buffer to the Ethereal being, upon defeat the guardian will be able to manifest into a new suit of material armor, filling the new suit with it’s reformed being. Guardians are similar to descendants in the fact that should they lose a limb in combat, they can no longer manifest said limb back due to the piece of armor being separated from their being. It is not uncommon to see these beings comprised of multiple different pieces of armor due to the need to recreate them upon their defeat. A guardian is only able to be a maximum height of 8 feet due to the amount of lunar energy their soul can process. A guardian possesses the strength that slightly surpasses that of a Orc yet their movement is similar to that of a man in heavy plate armor. Also, a guardian must follow the orders of the Ascended Order as they're sworn soldiers of both Sokar and the Order of the Mongoose.

Strength and Weaknesses

The Guardians themselves possess not any of the special abilities of their Ascended counterparts, yet the thing that makes these creatures special is their unique strength. They have the strength of an Orc but are able to imbue their lunar energy and have it converted into Lunar Fire, which is a similar flame to that of Soulfire but due to their nature of lunar essence the Patron Sokar allows their energy to be blessed by herself which allows the Lunar Flame to damage those with corrupted souls. The thing that makes the flame interesting is that it must always have a conductor yet the flame may only pass through blessed Aurum that has been crafted and forged within the Lunar Forge. Each guardian is made a special weapon by the craftsman of the Lunar Forge and through this the weapon is then given the blessing of Sokar and will always reappear by the side of the Ethereal Guardian it is connected to. After the defeat of a Guardian, both them and their weapon will reanimate at the altar immediately upon death. The forge acts as a foundation that allows Sokar’s influence to remain in the mortal realm, should the forge be destroyed the souls of the Guardians will be sent back to her realm where they will remain until another rift can be established. Guardians may only manipulate lunar flame through their weapons and it can not spread or be shot outwards as it only coats their blade. The essence of Sokar's blessing is bestowed upon their weapons and only allows the Guardian to lift the weapon like it is a regular sword. To others it would feel as if trying to lift a boulder up. She designed these weapons to be wielded by only her Champions and as such the supernatural force she possess' only allows for the guardians to wield the instruments of her will.

The Guardians are weak to a multitude of materials but some more than others. They are weak to thanium and arcanium, the substance will cause their strength to fall to that of an extremely weak state when around it. They are also weak to magically imbued items due to their corporeal form being comprised by lunar energy, the energy from the void acts as an unnatural disruption and can block their forms from being channeled into reality from Sokars realm. They’re weak to Silver as the alloy perturbs their existence. They are composed of lifeforce so necrotic drain is able to rip the substance from their form more easily than that of a regular descendant which is an unknown phenomenon that those who research the beings are unable to explain.

Red Lines/Weaknesses:

  • Ethereal Guardians can only be a maximum height of 8ft.

  • When they lose a limb they can not regrow a limb similar to the original, they lose it until they can return to the Lunar forge to fix it or are defeated and reanimate.

  • They have remnants of lifeforce and can be drained by necromancers and the like.

  • Weak to necrotic drain, doing so could easily defeat the being if the connection between lifeforce is not broken as the process is more effective against these beings than on regular individuals.

  • Weak to illusionary magic, easily tricked and manipulated.

  • To Create a guardian, a full connection and concentration must be given to the process of creation, an interruption will cause the process to stop.

  • To learn creation an MA must be submitted and approved by the MAT.

  • To learn weapon creation, a FT or Feat Application must be made.

  • Guardians must be created at a Lunar Forge.

  • The process of creation is long and tiresome, simply emoting the imbuement of the altar and raising of a Guardian is prohibited.

  • Weak to Silver, Arcanium, Thanium.

  • Weak to magically infused items

  • Requires a CA

  • A cap of 1 guardian per creator. Should the creator die then the guardian will link to a new bond as it must be reforged but should the guardian wish for a PK then an available slot will fill for that Ascended.

divider.png

[MA] & [Feat]

In order for an Ascended to learn this secret and unfamiliar art, they must first learn how to create the Guardians which acts as another subtype of the Ascended magic, however to create the weaponry which is specific to the beings a Feat application must be made for the specific creation of their weapons as it is a completely different process aside from the creation of Sokar’s Champions.

A construct for those who may want to do Deific rp but  want another spin on their rp rather than becoming an Ascended :)

Mh... tbh i like, but it seemed way better before, a construct with an Ascended infused weapon would do the same job than  these constructs, the Ascended already use that kind of weapons in the most of the battles and tbh i expected some unseen ability, the holy touch of the first submission was very interesting, also give some different properties to lunar fire could make it more unique and generate more roleplay.

Something about them being stronger than golems and yet just as fast as a regular man in armor rubs me the wrong way.

Made a necessary adjustment! Thank you for the feedback!

Already have an addition in the works! :D Due to some of the concerns of the LT/MT with the past submission I've been putting into great detail a submission that would go hand-in-hand with this one but allow more room for tweaks/implementations should this one pass through. I'll be able to judge how the Ascended would use the guardians and provide their powers appropriately.

Thank you for submitting your piece! This will be our final vote until the end of February and due to the amount of lore currently submitted, will take 2 weeks to finish. Expect a verdict here on the 30th/31st.

Unfortunately, due to the large amount of lore pieces (32 or so) that we're reviewing this time around, I am extending the current vote. A verdict will be posted here around the 5th. I'll post here again to keep you updated if anything else arises.

Unfortunately, this lore has been denied. As mentioned in other denied pieces this round, we do not feel that every magic should start getting its own construct and we're going to begin cracking down on the existing constructs that have fallen inactive. In addition, the writer for Sokar has expressed "Sokar is a shepherd, that uses bells to ward, guide and banish, never to maim or kill. It just doesn't fit well with her personality of a blind, mute priestess."
