The New Player Command List

Below will be an overview of useful commands and things that will help you out while on the server!

Chat Commands and Roleplaying

Spoiler

Chat Commands and Roleplaying

/rp - The basic roleplaying chat. This is strictly in-character, and anyone within twenty (20) blocks will be able to hear you.

/looc - The out-of-character chat to go along with roleplaying chat. This can only be heard by players within twenty (20) blocks of you. It does not have to be in character.

/q - This roleplay chat cannot be heard through walls. Only players within eight (8) blocks can hear you while speaking in this chat.

/qooc - This is the respective out-of-character chat for the quiet roleplay channel. Like above, only players within eight (8) blocks can hear you, and it cannot be heard through walls.

/s - The shouting roleplay channel. Any player within forty-eight (48) blocks can hear you. This is used whenever you are being very loud.

/sooc - This is for if you need to speak out-of-character over long distances of sixty-four (64) blocks. This is generally only used when sorting things out in raids or skirmishes.

/w - The whispering roleplay channel. Any player within two (2) blocks can hear you. This is used when you are  trying to avoid speech being heard by those around past your direct conversational partner.

/wooc - The out of context alternative for whispering, same as above it has a two block radius, and is most commonly used as an alternative to converse without using the /msg command when in close quarters with someone.

Global Chats

/ooc - The global out-of-character chat for the server. Anyone online (and opted into the chat) can hear it.

/tr - The global trade chat. Anyone opted into the chat can hear it. This is usually only used for sorting out trades and deals.

/debate - The global debate chat. If players tend to argue in any of the other global chats, they are told to move it here. It is generally the least used chat.

/help - The global help chat. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them here!

/ws - The wandering soul chat. This is where you can talk with new players who are not yet whitelisted.

If you do not want to be in any of the above, global chats, simply type ‘/leave <channel>’. For example, if you no longer want to see OOC chat, you would type ‘/leave ooc’.

You can join back any channel by either typing ‘/join <channel>’ or just /<channel>

Another helpful command for roleplaying is the /roll command. You can use this command to determine an outcome with other players if a civil conclusion can not be met. All you have to do is type /roll # and a it will pick between 1 and the number you chose.

Soulstones

Spoiler

Soulstones

Soulstones are what you can use to get around the map quickly. They have a cooldown of ten minutes per use, but can be used an unlimited number of times. They are commonly abbreviated to ‘ss.’

To bring up the soulstone menu, type /ss. This will bring up all of the valid parameters you can use with this command, although you must be holding your soulstone to use them. To receive your soulstone, type /ss claim. This will give you a nether star; which will be your soulstone. Do not worry about dropping or losing this, as you can always type /ss claim to get a new one.

You may bind your soulstone to a soulstone pillar. When first joining the server, you will have two slots on your soulstone. One will be labelled ‘home,’ which will take you to the Cloud Temple (where you first spawn in on the map). The other will be open, and free for you to choose where to use it. While holding your soulstone, look at a soulstone pillar (shown below) and type /ss bind <slot #>.

If done correctly, you will receive a message in chat saying your soulstone has been bound to the pillar. Your slot will no longer be empty! To cycle through these slots, simply shift-right-click with a soulstone in hand.

If you no longer want to be attached to a certain soulstone pillar, simply type /ss release <slot #> and you will be unbound from that pillar. You do not need to be looking at the pillar to unbind.

The list you should see if you’ve not bound anything to slot one, and only have the Zero and One slots unlocked, after shift right clicking through it.

If you overwrite the ‘Home’ or ‘Zero’ slot, and need to soulstone to the Cloud Temple again, typing the /ss release 0 command will remove your overwritten pillar and reinstate the ‘Home’ soulstone destination until you overwrite it again.

thRanLHU8nyRgpfeq47Z-kSt22QMVQXGwX6-0z469aOmjpvnQsVnXAC44Ymez-G9jTzvYdG3YPk3ZOSZU15F9T8g1ZEKoHFom3a9Oxca2LGsBakLoJUWD3W97KtbMmcremZIsjR9 yaqAQLqepgzxy-avP87TGgPs7BFl5F23PI-OuvlZQlzQJLeKq1bnUrEjhhIgksKujmxxTBqx0edsw3lTLa2WPnHAEDravbkwfCebGXto_CHfSSkKlmusDOhpvitudQEVVrXkEIfz

The soulstone pillar on the left is an Emerald Soul Pillar, these are given to official nations and have unlimited storage space. The one on the right is a Redstone Soul Pillar, which is player made and comes with a limited amount of slots to fill before it is at top capacity and nobody else can bind there.

Setting up a soulstone pillar is quite easy! All you have to do is place three redstone blocks on top of eachother. Then, look at the pillar and type /ss imbue <pillar name>. The pillar can be named whatever you wish, although please keep in mind that vulgar or inappropriate names will be punished. You can only have one soulstone pillar created per account.

If, for whatever reason, you wish to prevent other players (as well as your self) from using their soulstones, type /ss block. This will place all players soulstones in a small area around you on a ten minute cooldown.

You will receive more slots on your soulstone as you play on the server. You can get up to three (including the link to Cloud Temple). However, if you vote daily on the server you can reach special milestones which either reduce your soulstone cooldown, or give you an extra slot!

Persona/Character Card Commands

Spoiler

Persona/Character Card Commands

Every player on the server is assigned a character card. This details various things like age, race, and can give a short description of a person’s character. Please remember to not metagame this information until you learn it in character! You can also include things like links to art, or a more in-depth character biography.

Below is an example of what a character card traditionally looks like:

0Foo_ye29NHvFRznBqzjbOxkN6S6-3VwuSunTLKugBEi64wNFPg7wYAl_azMyS-o5oRpxPFhf3fqufRyisQ22lEfj233aXb_69fi17oFTEsQujN5elv-ugCZSrg6Ut38TVN342xM

To bring up the menu to edit your character card, type /persona. It will outline the valid parameters you can use with this command.

You can type /persona view <player> or shift-right-click on a player to bring up their character card.

By typing /persona name <new name> you can change your name. Keep in mind that as a player without any VIP perks or staff permissions, you can only change your name once every 300 minutes.

You can use /persona prefix <text> to add a prefix to your persona. You can also delete it with /persona clearprefix. This command has no cooldown.

If you desire to change the age of your persona, simply type /persona age <new age>. Keep in mind that constantly aging back your character will ruin immersion and is often frowned upon. If you don’t want players to be able to see your age, for whatever reason, /persona clearage will delete it from your character card. These commands have no cooldown.

/persona addbio and /persona addinfo will both allow you to add text to your character cards. A short description is usually nice to have on your card, but not necessary. /persona clearinfo and /persona clearbio will delete the text you’ve added.

Finally, /persona time will show how many hours you have spent online, playing as that persona; and /persona created will show how long ago you created your character.

You can also add links to your character card.

Use the command /cex art <url> to attach an image of your character that players may click on to view.

Alternatively, use the command /cex bio <url> to attach a url that can lead to a google doc, or some other type of extended biography that otherwise wouldn’t fit in your character description.

Also, if you happen to end up playing a creature you can type the /cex creature <creature name> <link to accepted creature application> and it will apply the appropriate mechanical changes to the persona, such as being immune to drowning and having no hunger drain.

Voting

Spoiler

Voting

By voting for Lord Of The Craft, you will gain mina (the currency of the server) and many other various rewards! Your first vote of the day, every day, will give you half a stack of bread.

Everytime you vote, you will gain 15 mina. If you vote on consecutive days, you will gain an extra 25 mina. (That’s 200 mina per day!)

By typing /vote, it will bring up five links for you to vote on. You need to vote on at least two of them to count towards your daily voting milestone.

By voting on at least two links every day, you will advance in your voting milestone. On certain days of the month you will earn various rewards. Some of these include a reduced soulstone cooldown, an extra soulstone slot, or tokens to keep your items on death!

To see how far you are from certain rewards, type either /vote ms or /vote milestones. It will bring up a menu that should look like this:

x83VdZQ.png

The glass represents the current day. Green represents days that you have completed. Red represents normal days that you have not completed, with no special reward. Gold represents days that you have not yet completed, although they will contain a special reward (like the ones listed above).

If you happen to miss a day for any reason, you will have to start back from day one.

If you don't want to receive voting reminders anymore, type /vote disable.

Staff Requests

Spoiler

Staff Requests

If you run into an issue on the server that cannot be handled by regular players, you can request for a game moderator to come help you out!

Please keep in mind that you are always expected to work out the issue with the other player/side before requesting for GM intervention.

Simply type /modreq <issue> and a GM will get with you as soon as they can.

Check out this link if you want to see how to make a good modreq.

http://lotc.co/topic/110676-t

There are multiple staff teams on the server, though, and GM’s won’t be able to handle every request. Depending on the issue, you might want to consult one of the following teams:

Application Team - The Application Team is in charge of reviewing whitelist applications and making sure new players are smoothly implemented into the server. AT members are generally able to answer questions that a new player might ask. If you would like to know specifically where to go from spawn, how to get food, or how to work the emoting system, you can ask an AT member. If you have any other general questions, or would simply like some help as a new player, feel free to do /atreq. If you'd like to see which AT Members are on duty, type /atlist.

Forum Moderators - These wonderful individuals handle everything that has to do with the forums. If you need a post deleted, edited, or moved to a different category, let them know! They can also help out if someone is bothering you on the forums. If you don't know where to post, or find something, these people would most likely know, too! /fmreq to get in contact. Alternatively, use /fmlist to see what forum moderators are on duty.

Event Team - If you stumble across an event site, you would want to get in contact with these people. /etreq to get in contact with them. If you’d like to learn more about what /etreq is used for specifically, please read this thread: https://tinyurl.com/ycxbhhvb. You can also use /etlist to see which actors and builders are on duty!

Lore Moderators - These people are the masters of the lore. If you have any questions, or think someone is breaking lore, give one of them a call! They would be more than willing to answer any questions you may have related to general lore. They have specific sections of the lore they specialize in, though, so the member you need may not always be online. /ltreq to get in contact. If you'd like to see which Lore Moderators are on duty, use /ltlist.

Magic Moderators - Practically the same as the above, but these individuals specialize in magic lore. If you suspect someone is powergaming their magic, these people would be who you go to. They can also be used as OOC overseers if you wish to self-teach a magic!  They would be more than happy to answer any questions you have on the magics of LOTC. If you would like to know how any magic works, /ltreq to get in contact. Just like checking out which lore moderators are on duty, use /ltlist to check for magic moderators.

Wiki Team - These players are in charge of keeping the wiki up to date! They can help direct you to specific places and pages on the wiki if you would like to read up on anything. If you see any outdated pages or have any questions about the wiki, type /wtreq. If you'd like, type /wtlist to see which wiki team members are on duty!

World Developers - These guys handle everything to do with terrain and the world. If you have an issue with a build, or landscar, consult these people. If you also have any questions on the quality of a build and if it is suitable, there are the people you would ask. /wdreq to get in contact. Like above, just type /wdlist to check which world developers are on duty.

Developers - If you have an issue with a plugin, you should consult these guys. Their time is extremely valuable, so please don’t bother them over small issues. /devreq or /techreq to get in contact.

How Combat Works

Spoiler

How Combat Works

On LoTC, we have a plethora of different factions and groups, all of which have their own enemies, allies, acquaintances, and so forth. This means is that there is the potential for a lot of both small scale and large scale conflict.

On the smaller end of things, you might be travelling on the road when all of a sudden you’re being mugged! Remember, the other player is not mugging you, their character is mugging your character, and if you both keep a level head and remember this is just roleplay you can both have an enjoyable time regardless of how it goes!

In this scenario, you’ve been stopped by an armed highwayman and they’ve got their sword pointed at you, demanding a ‘toll’ of your valuables in exchange for not being attacked and having them forcefully taken. You can either comply, and your character can gain some development by having been robbed, or you can refuse and likely fight. On LoTC and in small scale combat whoever is the defender gets to choose whether you do the fight in roleplay or opt for MineCraft click based PvP; what this means is if your character is explicitly attacked, not just threatened you can choose to either roleplay the fight out or call the ‘Defender Default’ and move over to clicking and swinging swords.

If the defender default is called, you both put on your armor, take out your sword, shield, bow, what have you, and once both sides are explicitly declared ready one of you types the /countdown command, which looks like this:

RWokH9XT8HuMkESEIWHw4Nh3m61KJQdOiS7hv-VhdSqO1I3laC7tBBbw6dW236Lg4Sv2xRcNtbGrDGyVEXKlamQGZrjOaVlEPliKYj4lHcfcy-OiLBQ47jBU1w1Rz0SRMuq9s9S_

Once this happens, you are free to fight, run, etc, and if either player runs out of hearts they are ‘downed’ and the winner can decide whether to ‘Pop’ (kill) them or let them live by right or left clicking their lying down playermodel respectively.

If you wish to partake in combat, you will need to know how the status command works. You may assign yourself a status with the /status <status> command. This will place you on a ‘team,’ so to speak, with the other players with this status. You may not damage individuals with the same status as yourself. You can choose one of any of the following for a status;

Affectionate

Crippled

Pirating

Fighting

Mounted

Musical

Casting

Blinded

Floral

Frozen

Sleeping

Crusading

Flagged

Recording - This status is only to be used by spectators in battle. You will be punished if you misuse this status. You may only use this status if you were present at the time PvP began but you did not want to participate. If you die in battle and return with this status, it will warrant a ban. Please do not disrupt PvP by getting in the way of arrow fire or jumping into the midst of the fight, as you may be downed or punished.

Once you are done with your pvp, you want to do /status clear, which will remove your status and make sure others that might see you don’t think you’re part of a pvp when you aren’t.

Also, typically players will do the command /showhealth to assist with pvp situations, as it allows you to see both your teammates and enemies HP.

Big thanks to MickMeist for helping me write this!

Huge thanks to Vaynth for helping improve this guide and proofreading it.

That is lovely! The color-coding is wonderful as well, though some of the content could use some more spacing in-between as it is a bit daunting to read text stacked so closely.

Great stuff, I'm proud of what you guys do. Folks in the New Player Discord or any common [WS] visitor now can link drop this from time to time.
