"Nobody would have believed it, but even fewer would have expected it in such a way. Our first contact with another race! Saryn they called themselves, and they were not all so different, in fact, they looked just like us, well, mostly, given their eyes were galactic clouds and star formations. It was the year 2101, one year into the new century. 23rd of September, I remember the day. It would have been just a normal day on Earth, if it wasn't for the sudden appearance of dozens of these ships the Saryn fly through space with. And by no means were they hostile. They entered orbit, and clearly requested audience with the United Nations in various languages, English, German, Chinese, Spanish, Russian, Swahili and so forth. Of course we were excited at first, but the welcoming and greeting ceremonies turned a bit sour, when the Saryn commander in charge hurried ahead onto the pedestal, dismissing the U.N. secretary and gave his speech. And told us about how little time there was left."

"The Saryn have been an ancient race that was travelling our milky way years before we even invented agriculture. And according to what they told us, a dreadful foe has arrived in the galaxy just a hundred years before they came to warn us. It was a long and dragged-out war, but after a hundred years, even the numerous and advanced Saryn seemed to be at an end. In hopes to at least save some traces of our milky way from this enemy, they approached us in a decision to send us away from our cradle, Earth, forever, to another galaxy. Messier 51a."

"The Messier gate, they called it. A massive ring-like structure for us to fly our rather simply constructed spaceships through. Massive vessels we crafted with their assistance, but our resources, to house a million people in stasis each, bringing along many materials and more. They gave us the technology for a Warp engine at least. Now, the Messier gate activated, and it appears as if the Messier galaxy was zooming right into our faces. It was staring at us, a whirlpool of stars. The automated systems on our arks travelled through the gate, crossing millions of lightyears in an instant. Except that the automated guidance systems did not really like this "jump". They failed briefly due to navigational errors, and our vessels drifted apart from eachother towards the galaxy, soon to be out of sight and contact from eachother. Being awoken days or even weeks later, the crews decided to do the simplest thing. Activate the warp drives and travel down into Messier 51a. And this is, where our new lives began."

Galactic Remnats

Artus Romulani and his pack stalked through the shadows under the trees. Little sun ever reached this far down. For massive trees and their plumage blocked it out. These trees would put even the Redwoods of California to shame. But the Redons had not even the slightest clue what a Calirofnia Redwood was. They merely called these milky trees. They were treated with respect, many in Ethos even resided in them. For they lived on a massive Jungle world, it's roots going back millions of years. True there was fertile ground, and open plain as well. But by and large, and particularly amongst the equator, the Jungle dominated. And within it were all kinds of strange species. Spindly, multi-legged creatures flitted up and down the trees. Little flies showing various mixtures of light zoomed ahead. Birds of startling size made nest in the trees, tending to their eggs.

And of course far more dangerous animals resided. Which was the purpose of Artus's hunting party. For a large feline had attacked a near by Redon village. They were under Skotov's protection. But Skotov was more Warlord then tribal chief, and had little care for them. And so it fell to duelist like Artus to uphold Redon honor. He and a few others of the Tribes held such an honored rank. It was part religious, part warrior. Duelist in the culture were expected to uphold their tribes honor. They would assist the elderly, farm, work, alongside dueling. And so with Skotov so unabashed at abandoning them, it was now up to the Duelist.

Artus himself was an immensely honorable Redon. His late father the Grand Artun Chief had fallen many years ago. But he had taught his son much, and ensured he was a candidate for the Duelist. They had lived in the more fertile northern grasslands. Their tribe was large, and hosted the massive Ship yards. Long ago before they could travel space, it was still an important region. It had merely grown into the power it has now, thanks to great men like Artun and Artus. He was young, and still a training Duelist. In the meantime his sister Duna acted as chief amongst the Ui Artunis as they called their tribe.

Him and his weary band emerge at the village, Panther over Artus's back. By rights he will now skin it, and wear it's pelt for strength. He smiled as he remembered his initiation into Redonhood years ago. He was a lad filled with fire, and sought big. He had wrestled with a massive Python in the river, for hours. It had tried everything, be he was dogged. It could not escape or kill, and eventually dies. He now wore it's fangs as a necklace, and had fine snake skin trousers. After hearing such a distinguished Redon was here, Skotov had flown in from his Fortress.

Where Artus was tall, light tones, and wiry, Skotov was small, dark, and swarthy. He was a violent man, but then again most Redons were. We suppose he was 'particularly' violent amongst the Tribes. And with good reason, as he had singlehandedly built a Redon army. For the various Tribes were more united now then they had ever been. If Skotov cared little for his people, and was brutal, he still answered to the Tribes. They had put him to good use, and now the army was under way. Skotov brought interesting news indeed.

They had been picking up various communications over the Galaxy. Some were near them, and the Redon scientist were trying to gain contact. This was an underlying problem however. The Redons thought they were alone, and seldom went further then their outlying systems. But this changed everything. Furious council is held, as any incoming human trade deals are accepted.

The Commonwealth of Edonia

General Activity:

They landed upon Feldspar early in the year and under the leadership of their first president, Randall Watson, the Edonian’s built many business and agriculture infrastructure allowing them to prosper. A location was picked for the capital city, the tallest peak named the Profundity. Over the span of three months the entirety of the population built up this city, its industry and infrastructure made to last for the years to come. An impressive feat for only a population of one million but the city stood and soon to be surrounded by defenses against the unknown.

It was not long before they needed to set up a proper military for defense of the homeland, a proper military base would be build in the capital itself closer towards the top. They set about carving storage into the mountain and a few facilities for training and facilitating thousands of men. Shortly after this was completed, the recently built industry began to produce tanks, kevlar, and weaponry for these new soldiers. A few old drill instructors were selected to train these men, at the end of the year over 46,000 Edonian’s had been trained to become the first members of the standing army.

President Randall first year seemed to be going rather well and the people were happy with the path they’re on. There was only one matter left, did anyone else make it through? A vote was quickly passed through the newly established government based off a senate and congress. A message would be displayed across the entire galaxy seeking any survivors of their navigational horror.

“Broadcasting QNET, The nation of Edonia has survived navigational issues and seeks survivors from the milky way. We are open to trade and diplomacy and even giving aid if needed.”

Activity:

The BRAVE farmers of rural Canada had set off to Messier 51 with little expectancy of things to find. Although their navigation systems had brought them off course, they had found themselves in an ideal situation. On the newly dubbed planet of Edmonton, named after the capital city of Alberta from their native land, the Canadians laid their stead on bountiful  fields ideal for farming as they had done for generations before on Earth.

Several weeks passed as they awaited for something. A signal from another one of their Canadian shuttles. Though none came. The people took it upon themselves to create a nation they could prosper in while keeping a form of order among themselves. The Kanatan Commonwealth was soon after founded with an elected Grand Premier overlooking the workings of the populace with his hand picked cabinet of lesser Premiers to assist him in various affairs.

By the end of the year, they had finally achieved contact with another color and found themselves shut out after the first exchange of words. Merely the position, name of their leader and nation was told. The Edonians, which laid to their east, seemed solemn on their own for the time being. Various other nations made contact, and before long trade routes across the east had been plotted and manned by the vast Kanatan freight system.

The Red Rock corporation

Akhiya Newman looked over the colony of Ikhaya. Looking down from his elevated position at the settlement beneath him. He could see the hard-working people of the corporation working hard to excel at their business. Making sure that they could prosper and survive.

He could see that people were working hard to sell their goods, ranging from the business that made parts for the shipyard or to the street vendor selling his food to passersby's. All in all, it was a nice sight to look down upon. The sight of a prospering civilization but Akhiya knew that it was not good enough. He would need to make his people truly prosperous, he needed to get the resources to truly make the corporation a force to be reckoned with.

He knew that when he made contact with the lost human colonies there were some that would be changed in a militaristic manner. That all who he met might not desire peace but prefer domination. Though Akhiya knew that that tactic would, in the end, prove unsuccessful as it had been with all empires through human history he knew that the trend would pick up once more and that dangerous forces would try and repress prosperity and the will of the free market.

And to counter such forces he needed resources, resources that the planets under his control and its prospering economy could provide. He knew it would not be easy to create a prosperous territory and economy. It would require many hours of hard work but he had done it on earth and he could do it once more here in this new galaxy with much more success than before.

Briefly, Akhiya wondered if he had made the right choice of the direction his colony went to after they landed. The focus of the people had almost entirely been on establishing a prospering economy so they would have the resources to build a large fleet or expand business even more. Yet he knew that he had severely neglected to work on research, knowing that military technology was not developing amongst the corporation. Even if civilian technology was. Yet he knew that in the end that this was the best option. Technology could always be focused on later. Using his large number of resources to build universities but for now, large amounts of income were better to be focused on. As they allowed him to more quickly develop his planets to their fullest extent and expand his resources quickly. Still, as Akhiya looked out into the night sky, wondering where the other civilizations were amongst the stars and if there might just be an ally in the sky or if there were only enemies to be found.

Greater Terran Empire

2102

latest?cb=20150920151348

For the past year the citizens of Terra Prime have worked and slaved to create the new seat of Human Supremacy. Many remember when the ship first arrived in the solar system, planet after planet simply didn’t suit the needs of the populace. Those onboard became restless, everything was on the brink of rebellion.

Until an organized force pushed through the ship arresting and punishing any for even the most minor offense. Beatings, Threats, and perhaps one or two executions out the airlock as some rumors say finally quelled the populace.

Perhaps it was fate, but soon after the rebellions had been put down the planet that now serves as the Heart of the Greater Terran Empire was discovered

latest?cb=20161015003345

Terra Prime

A year after establishing themselves the planet was already flourishing, all Imperial citizens were properly fed, given proper housing, and resources were continuing to poor in to expand Capital City.

The Military formed the backbone of the Empire, involved in all parts of life. Agriculture, Construction, Politics. All Imperial Citizens were required by law to serve two years in service to the Empire by either military or public service.

While many seemed weary of the leadership, none dared oppose it. The leader of the armed forces that lead to the destruction of any rebellion aboard the colony ship had enough support to declare himself Emperor. Though his name has been lost in records, only those in his council that makes up the High Command of the Military know his true identity.

The Council declared that no communications with any other nations was allowed without express permission from the Emperor and his Council. Failure to follow this order was punishable by death, and access to quantum communications was forbidden except to those in the highest echelons of the military.

A new year has dawned upon the Covenant, once more the Prophets gathered for the Conclave. The room was dark, the High Prophet Rty’an entered the room. “Brothers, a new cycle has dawned upon our Covenant. The people look to stars! To the gods! A Great Journey awaits us brothers, but fear not for we trod the blessed path” Rty’an began to pace in the circle of light “several of our lead scientists have brought an issue to my attention. Some call them Heretics, I see the truth. The chances of our kind being alone in this galaxy, is slim. I have directed Fleet Master Tel a’tran to dispatch a beacon across space, we will find these, aliens if they exist.”

Fleet Master Tel a’tran stood in front of his crew, over the rugged peaks of Relios, the sight of the Eternal Reverence exiting the atmosphere behind him. “Brothers! Comrades! The Prophets have bestowed a great honour upon us! We’ve been chosen as the first to embark on this Great Journey! Our names will echo through history! Let us not disappoint them!” Cheers erupted from his crew

Kaikyo - Sol 45 - 1845

fgc-wallhaven-25.jpg

Ryuusuke Ashikaga’ reflection stared back at him in a void. The depthless dark glass surrounded his pale reflection like an eternity of stars, engulfing his slight frame in their immensity. Even without such an imposing metaphor to accompany him, his appearance would not have struck many as anything more than unremarkable. An aging japanese man, with neatly brushed silver hair crossing his skull as if raked by a gardener, the furrows barely deep enough to remind him of his once luscious mane of hair. Beneath, a skull with skin as pockmarked as the moon that wrinkled at the smallest shift of his translucent lips.

It was a lie, he wasn’t unremarkable. People might pause to wonder how such a fragile construct still managed to rise out of bed every morning without the help of a exoskeleton. Or lead what seemed to be the remnants of a history stretching back for thousands of years. A sigh slipped past his lips, expulsed from paper-thin lungs that trembled with every frenetic beat of his failing heart.

“Windows, clear,” he said in a voice that belayed the damage wrought upon his body. Even his feeble lungs had yet to rob him of that deep intonation that carried his words through storms of gunfire and the screams of the dying. It was good to speak to himself occasionally, to remind himself of what he still controlled.

The windows dimmed for a moment, then cleared completely. He squinted into the sunlight. It was cresting the mountains on the horizon and with it, the deep mists that permeated the forests were beginning to clear. Great whorls drifted upwards like ghosts escaping their prison of foliage and bark. The District was beginning to poke its tentative peaks out from beneath the trees, like tender shoots of grass aiming for the sun. The first towers glinted in the sunlight, a million drops of dew reflecting its light. What gods had been graceful enough to grant them such a paradise, Ryuusuke would pray to for the remainder of his life.

“Miss Umemoto, I want to make contact with everyone. They will be at each others throats like rabid dogs within the year. It is now our duty to be a part of it.”

Kiber Star Confederation

Damien looked across the map of his so called “confederation” and admired it, his companies and border members ruled over the individual planets and territories claimed by the nation as a whole. Business surged within the borders of the confederation with each planet producing different things and trading with one another. However, one thing was lacking. Protection from whatever may lay beyond the borders of their protected space. Business investments would be key to stimulating the economy enough, while shipyards and ship production would be the driving force.

Yet, another idea had popped into his head. A military contractor, space battles would be essential to winning long wars. The navy gets the gravy, as they said back on Earth. Humans had to make it off the planet, even groups that's absolutely hated each other had to be. Dollar signs were flashing in his head already. He started to clap in his towering room above the bustling city landscape which laid New Dallas.

Damien moved to his data board, and moved around some piece. Shipping lanes, fleet movements and logistics. “Hunter. It's time.”

“Call up to the station, and tell them to open communications. Broadcast who we are, and what is for sale. We are looking for trade relations and potential deals.”

Vereinigte Bergwerke AG

After the Saryn arrival to Earth, promising passage to Messier 51a, a conglomerate of German mining magnates formed to construct their own vessel that could utilise the Messier gate and these industrialists could preserve the lives of them and their families. They did, however, bring a sizable number of employees and their families with them (mostly out of necessity for the continuation of these businesses past the extermination of life on Earth, but a philanthropist spin was placed on it). They invested the majority of their personal and corporate wealth in the construction and launch of their collective work: the KS Befreiung. The ship was launched and entered the portal without a hitch, aside from the relatively minor detail of actually staying with the rest of humanity's survivors.

When the Befreiung was separated from the rest of the human fleet, it found itself close to a rather hospitable planet, though a little rocky at that. The ship landed, and VBAG immediately set about organising the construction of a settlement by and for its employees. Eventually a city took shape among the mountains, and VBAG took the governance of the people upon itself, though obviously they were still employees of the company. The Board of Directors now found itself not only responsible for the company and its employees in the context of business, but also for every aspect of this fledgling society's existence, from as mundane as housing to as abstract as cultural preservation. Luckily, there were experienced and committed Directors leading the VBAG to greatness, and profit.

Prior to the arrival of the Saryn and the merger of the eight companies, von Linde was the CEO of the largest of the companies and is therefore considered by most to be the de facto leader of the VBAG - or at least the most influential of the directors. He is also one of the more charismatic and PR-conscious of the Directors, taking a key personal role in promoting his company and now the VBAG. As such, von Linde tends to be the face of the VBAG.

Leopold Ullstein

A progress-minded innovator, Ullstein is a committed technocrat - his business' swift rise due to its cutting edge mining technologies and techniques being testament to that. As far as Ullstein is concerned, the quickest and best path to profit is to ensure your business is ahead of the curve in tech, and is determined to try and keep the VBAG on that path.

Otto Quandt

A serious, ruthless entrepeneur, Quandt built his mining business from the ground up - and is exceptionally proud of himself. One of the more reluctant members of the Board, Quandt is the main rival of von Linde, seeing himself as being the most worthy of being at the helm of VBAG.

Niklaus Bamberger

Bamberger is new onto the business scene, having inherited his father's company only a couple years before the arrival of the Saryn. He never paid much attention to his father's teaching and as such, is considered by the other directors to be a hapless and naive businessman. All the same, he "earned" his way onto the board with his father's money, and is now eager to prove himself to his peers.

Matthias Delphinius Berlitz

A bit of a surprise inclusion for many of the directors, Berlitz is considered to be somewhat of a mining maverick. Berlitz was notorious on Earth for violating many unspoken rules and traditions among the magnates, cutting into long-standing markets that other companies considered their domain. Though his first and foremost concern is his own profit, he knows that his and the VBAG's well-being are intertwined, and so he will take any steps to ensure the company is at the top.

Ulrich Mueller-Stahl

Mueller-Stahl is, along with Bamberger, one of the board's "little guys". Unlike, Bamberger, his character and personal qualities aren't routinely called into question, but his company was the smallest, and so his voice is often lost among the bellows of the more powerful Directors.

Siegmund Kretschmann

Kretschmann is very much a "man of the people", championing workers' rights in his own company and now being the foremost voice of the employees' welfare on the VBAG's board. While he too desires profit, Kretschmann sees exploitation of his employees as not effective or desirable in the pursuit of it.

Karl von Lausitz

Von Lausitz certainly didn't run the largest company that formed the VBAG, but his company's and his own age meant he was well-respected and influential among the Board of Directors. Very much a product of the 21st century, von Lausitz believes that a business in Messier 51a will profit just as well using the traditional practices of business on Earth.

In the orbital shipyards above Siegfriedshafen, two ships begin construction. One is a Wiedergeburt-class colonial freighter, destined for the sector south-west of the capital. The other is a Langschwert-class destroyer, which for now will remain orbiting Siegfriedshafen. Meanwhile, on the surface, 8,000 droid troops enter production as a ground-based defense force, utilising robots to spare manpower where possible.

Simultaneously, a moderate investment is made into business on the planet of Platin Tor, in the Stolz sector to the north-east of the capital. The capital itself had already been developed as far it could in terms of the necessary infrastructure and services for supporting business, and so the VBAG had begun developing the other planets of the company, with Tagtraum in the Herbst sector hosting a number of VBAG subsidiaries already.

The VBAG broadcasts across Messier 51a, both giving and requesting information from other surviving parts of the human fleet. They manage to get in touch with many other humans, and even a couple of pre-existing alien civilisations, though both were apparently originally from the Milky Way as well, and some trade deals are concluded and diplomatic moves made.

In the University of Siegfriedshafen, research begins in the Department of Engineering on improving the fighter model of the VBAG, so as to improve the effectiveness of the VBAG's private fleet in combat.

Summary:

Kiber Star Confederacy

The opening up of communications brought a great boon to the confederacy. Bringing in additional resources, and business. The wealth of the nation was beginning to grow larger and larger.

Damien's prior experience on Earth had led to the nation getting a head start, which would continue. More money would be poured back into the surrounding territories. Within the next year, they were expecting the income of the nation to increase by 30%.
