La Belle Epoque is an FRP set in 1885, in the peak of the European domination, splendor and power. The world, although settled, is in constant flux between the great Empires of the world. New powers are rising, the regional United States, the German Empire, and possibly Japan. . .

 

Invention and Artistry fill the halls of European civilization, the automobile and motorcycle are invented by Karl Benz, Louis Pasteur develops the Rabies Vaccine, Dr. Pepper is first released to the public, and the Statue of Liberty is erected in New York Harbor. Chester Nimitz and George Patton are born. The Indian National Congress gathers for the first time, the first wave of Prussian Jewish deportations occurs, the Berlin conference wraps up the precarious state of Africa, and the Northwest Rebellion in Canada rises to its climax. Victor Hugo, Ulysses S. Grant, George McClellan and Charles Gordon die.

 

This setting is entirely vanilla at the start, there is no alternate history. You decide where this world goes.

 

Map

 

The map will be constantly updated with every turn, unless no territorial changes occur.

 

Turns and Game Systems

Turns will be 2 months long, unless specifically noted as a War Turn which will require an update to the original posting (Post the initial movement, then mod/opponent response, then your secondary movement.)

 

Mod Posts will (God Willing) be weekly, most likely on Fridays or Weekend days.

 

Technology will be ranked and put into national census data.

 

War Rules

Battle maps will be made by both players (Unless attacking an NPC), then submitted to the mod.

From there, I'll calculate results based on Battle Maps + Descriptions of the movements and engagement plans.

I suggest using Paint.net + Google Map screen-caps for battle maps.

German Kaiserreich

 

“Gott Mit Uns”

 

Early 1885

 

The German Empire is an upstart nation, born in what is best described in the words of the Iron Chancellor as with “Blood and Iron”, founded just 14 years prior to the present year of 1885.  Despite its recent conception, the German heritage from which the empire derives its grandeur is an old one, stretching back hundreds of years to the original Reich of the Holy Roman Empire. Despite its rapid rise to the world stage, the German Empire respects the empires of old and pays its due homage to Britain, Austria-Hungary, and Russia.

 

The “Iron Chancellor” - Otto von Bismarck

 

Germany is a closed anocracy, combining some democratic values with authoritarian ones.  Although the German Reichstag, the legislative house of the empire, retains some privileges, ultimate power rests with the Kaiser and his Chancellor.  The current Kaiser is Wilhelm, first of his name. The crown prince is Friedrich Wilhelm, third of his name. Despite his strong convictions, the Kaiser grows old and rumors of his poor health spread throughout the Reich.  Crown Prince Friedrich Wilhelm assumes more of his father’s duties and privately wishes a new course for the Kaiserreich.

Internal Policy

 

Developing German industry.  

 

Although possessing one of the most developed industrial bases, Germany can do better.  

 

Germany begins investing in Chemicals development, railway building, and expanding factories for military and consumer products.  This is done through a combination of private and public sector funding.

 

Germanization

 

Germany pursues a policy of instilling German culture in its fringe provinces that lack clear German majorities.  Although not immediate, schools in such areas will mandate a bilingual education with German and the mother tongue in the area.  German holidays will be state hosted in those regions. In public schools, German culture and ideals will be taught by mostly German primary care instructors.  

 

Foreign Policy

 

Keeping to Otto von Bismarck’s foreign policy, the German Empire seeks close relations with its fellow Empires.  

 

“The Balance of Power must be kept within Europe.  This is of paramount importance, and so we renounce a militaristic and expansionist agenda within the European theater,” declares Bismarck.

 

Germany affirms its commitment to the Dreikaiserbund (League of 3 Emperors) alliance, formed in 1881 with Germany, Russia, and Austria-Hungary.  

 

Germany also seeks closer ties with its British counterpart.
