Europe, home of the worlds greatest empires, is in shambles. Cities are filled to capacity, disease runs rampant, and the Protestant reformation wars cover the continent in warfare and destruction. Many, who now believe Europe is fast approaching its end look to the west, the discovery of the Americas in 1492 by Christopher columbus went relatively unnoticed. Several expeditions funded by the spanish crown were met with little success. Interest in this ‘New World’ slowly waned into irrelevance until now.

 

Across Europe, peasantry, business men, & nobility alike all weigh their options. The conclusion reached by many is to abandon this seemly doomed continent and test their fortunes in this ‘New World’ supplies are gathered and the Voyages set sail, never to return.

 

Where these Voyages hail from, the reason for their departure, where their loyalties lie & their mission is up for you to decide.

Colony History:

When the Dutch East India Company (VOC) was founded in 1602, some traders in Amsterdam did not agree with its mono politics. With help from Petrus Plancius, a Dutch-Flemish astronomer, cartographer and clergyman, they sought for a northeastern or northwestern access to Asia to circumvent the VOC monopoly. In 1609 English explorer Henry Hudson, in employment of the VOC, landed on the coast of New England and sailed up what is now known as the Hudson River, in his quest for the Northwest Passage to Asia.

The mouth of the Hudson River was selected as the ideal place for initial settlement as it had easy access to the ocean while also securing an ice-free lifeline to the beaver trading post near present-day Albany. Here, Indian hunters supplied them with pelts in exchange for European-made trade goods and wampum, which was soon being made by the Dutch on Long Island. In 1621, the Dutch West India Company was founded.

Colony History: Originally founded by Vikings long before the discovery of America by Columbus, the area was re-settled by Scandinavian settlers later on. It now stands as a bastion of Scandinavian culture on the American continent.

Colony History: Because of the constant state of war and disease in Europe at the time and the constantly changing borders Brandenburg set up a colonial state for any and all Germans to go and start fresh.

Colony History: Following in the footsteps of Samuel Champlain, French Colonists establish trading outposts along the St. Lawerence River to trade with natives and begin sending the riches of furs back to France. Also tasked with the conversion of native allies and trading partners.

Colony History: The flight of the Irish geese! English grip was tightening around the Irish provinces. And soon their tendrils would spread into what was left of a free Ireland. The princes of Tyrone and Kildare and many others had no desire to see this become their fate. Across the island the nobility and merchants of Ireland flee to a new life, a new world.

Colony History: Dutch Admiral Corenlis Tromp and many other dutchmen were fed up with the eighty years' war and simply wished for peace. In his birthplace of Rotterdam, Tromp saw chaos and overpopulation. He rallied a large group of followers, orangists, republicans, protestants, catholics and jews alike, and bought a few ships to set sail to the new world to give these people a prosperous life in peace in "Amerika" rather than a life of chaos and war in Europe.

Colony History: With the endless wars in Europe between Protestants and Catholics, a decision had to be made.  Led by a noble of House von Wittelsbach, Otto, a Bavarian army fought their way to Italy and stole ships from the city of Venice, loading up the families and friends of the soldiers before striking out for the New World.  Led by militant Catholics, the colony is founded on the principles of conservatism, that the ways of old must be maintained.  The ruler of Neu Munchen is called the Graf von Unbekannte.

Colony History: The voyages and journies of the italian explorer Christopher Columbus in the name of the Spanish Crown were not in vain. The King, eager to use his nations long standing traditions in sea faring, establishes the firdt spanish colony over seas to spread spanish culture,  and to civilise the heathens and savages who inhabit it.

Colony History:

Following the Collapse of the Old World, many nations fled westwards for a new beginning. H.R.E decided to continue to expand its empire westwards. It was them who found the New World, so it is rightfully their land to claim. Here in the New World they would begin to build a new empire, one that would rival even the Ancient Roman one itself.
