The Legacy of the Great War

Following the continuation of Austrian aggression in Romania, the President would once again publically speak out against the already burning world tensions, hoping to shed light onto Austria’s actions and bring about widespread condemnation. He states publically, “We call for all states of Europe and the world to condemn the actions of the United Kingdom of Greater Austria and end trade and diplomatic relations with the country until they cease their aggressive actions and withdraw their armies. Despite the devastation of the Great War which is still evident in France, the United Kingdom seeks to violate the fragile peace we have forged through a war with Romania in which Russia would need to join as a defender of her sovereign and rightfully independent neighbor, Romania. During the Great War, the United Kingdom had used Romania as a means to invade Russia despite their predeclared neutrality, which already displays the need for international action and backlash against these hostile and dangerous actions.” Following the speech, President Purishkevich would send public invitations to the German Empire and Great Britain to meet in St. Petersburg to discuss the futures of their companies and how peace can be maintained in Europe.

The Railway Relief Project

Displaced individuals throughout Russia would be offered work in repairing the rail lines damaged during the Civil War. A major emphasis would be put on ensuring the Russian Armies receive their supplies, and Prime Minister Ilyin begins a publicized campaign supporting such. The campaign would remind Russian citizens of their own duties in defending and protecting their country, calling for young and able-bodied men and women who would not fight in the war but could be at risk for harm. They would receive protection from the Russian Army and often work alongside and beneath them in this project. This project would be approved and thoroughly supported by the President with the hope that it becomes a national success, encouraging Russians who have lost their homes and livelihoods not only to work but to take jobs in roles which benefit the country.

Russian Scientists

With the rise of public education and literacy in Russia, the Duma and Russian Military would emphasize the need for students who accelerated in fields which benefit and help solidify the future of the country, such as science, mathematics, engineering, and other such fields. Those who show immense promise could apply directly to the Duma and Russian High Command, who would determine if the government should offer the student funds for higher education in return for their employment following the completion of their degree.

ACTIONS

[See the Legacy of the Great War]

Displaced citizens would be prioritized for a relief programme designed to both provide incomes for those who are unemployed and repair the Russian railways. These men would be protected by the army and mostly kept out of the frontlines, but would also be at some risk due to their proximity to the frontlines. This would be touted as a national necessity, in order to ensure the men and women who are serving Russia are able to be fed and supplied.

The Duma promotes college education in fields which can serve and help to improve Russian technology and the military.

Redacted

Research into fighter models would once again continue.

An emphasis is once again put into protecting the borders of Russia and businessmen and entrepreneurs are called upon to aid in the war effort. The need for bombers and artillery has once again increased. In addition to this, with the exception of what was necessary for resupplying, new equipment would begin to be routed to Poland and Ukraine.

The Ottoman Empire

(Year long post)

-With the Government recognizing the inevibility of war once more in Europe, the government seeks to take actions to protect the Imperial Capitol and Administrative center of the Empire. The Ottoman High Command, observing the struggle their German Allies undertook attempting to take the fortress-city of Verdun, seek to replicate such an environment in the Fortress-City of Edirne. The cities medieval fortifications and bastions are expanded upon, and reinforcement and the construction of massive fortresses and bastions commence around the city of Edirne. The city will serve as the gate way into Turkish Thrace and Constantinople, and therefore the gateway of the Empire.

-The Emperor, having reportedly been completely enthralled in the study of Architecture, personally takes it under his wing to beautify Constantinople. In his weekly address to Constantinoples citizens, he has outlined a plan for the beautification of Constnatinople. Neighborhood after neighborhood, workers come through and renovated and remodeled public buildings to incorporate elements of artistic beauty into it. In the Asian side of Constantinople, which is often times neglected and ugly in terms of buildings, new neighborhoods and public buildings spring up, but built in a syncretic Islamic style, incoporating arches, intricate masonry depicting geometric shapes, and the inclusion of many fountains and nature into the buildings.

A list of notable buildings are compiled to be built to an exceptionally high level of expertise and magnificence:

-Beylerbeyi Palace(Expanded massively)’

-Kucuksu Palace(Expanded Massively)

-Beylerbeyi Mosque(New, Massive)

-Imperial Library.

-Investments and development of the oil industry in the Mesopotamian Region under the eye of both the government and al Assad continues. Oil production per barrel increases almost by the daily has dozens of wells are added to the increasing oil drilling network. Government funds continue to arrive into the pocket of Al Assad, which in turn uses it to fund his expansions of the growing oil network in Iraq.

-A division of volunteers are rounded up from the Army and begin separate training for a Military expedition in the name of the Empire and the Caliph. These are experienced men from the Great War and form the core of the Imperial Army.

-Ottoman observers and generals, learning of massive machines of iron being used in the frontlines in both the French Civil war and the Great War, seeks create such technology for the use in the army. The scientists and engineers gather together and attempt to replicate such technology to maintain and keep up with modern, industrial methods of war and combat. This piece of weaponry is designed in Palestine, where the growing fire arms industry can fuel such a project.

-The Caliph signs the Naval expansion act into law, which orders the research of the nations first domestic modern navy ship. Ottoman Scientist and Engineers from across the nation put their heads and minds together to create plans for a new class of destroyers. Meanwhile this is occurring, the bill also authorizes naval shipyards to prepare and expand to build several large and modern naval ships to be used in the Ottoman Navy.

-The crown prince of the Ottoman Empire announces a marriage with Princess Fatima of the Hashemite royal family, which is a powerful Arab Oligarchal clan tracing their lineage directly to Muhammad. It is hoped that with this marriage, the Caliphate can become popular with the Arab population of the Empire, and find themselves much more loyal subjects.

-Pan-Islamic propaganda is secretly spread into Persia, through isolated scouts and spies armed with posters who go around plastering messages of Pan Islamic or Ottomanism. It is done so that the Caliph can gain power and a international fan base in the close neighbor of Persia.

-The Caliph of Islam speaks, in many of his discourses and speeches the importance of maintaining loyalty and brotherhood among members of the same faith. He also preaches that it is important for the Ummah to stay united, in order to be stronger together then divided. These themes are often times reassuring throughout his addresses, and they are supplemented through messages in business, and in news papers.

-The Ottoman Empire officially condemns the United Kingdoms of Greater Austria to actively conspiring against the establishment of peace and prosperity by attempt to wage war against neutral and sovereign nations, in this case the nation of Romania.

-The Government seeks to research the effectiveness of massive artillery guns, mounted on rails. The government orders a 18 inch Artillery Gun from the factories of Palestine for an exhibition of its abilities and prowess against a core of Ottoman military officers and officials.

-Aide in the form of weapons, food, blankets and Qurans are sent to certain Indonesian Islamic Sects after several Grand Muftis pleaded for the help of their Caliph. This aide often arrives in secret under flags of a different country, through Japan, or through smuggling in hidden spots on his sheep..

Late 1917
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

White House, Washington DC, October 7th, 1917

A congress was held in the White House between president Hughes and the leaders of Russia, the Ukraine, Poland and Finland, regarding the Russo-American Co-Prosperity Treaty that was to be signed. The delegates were flown over from St. Petersburg with the airship “Pilgrim”. The flight was one of the first Trans-Atlantic ones and the longest one so far, yet the journey took only about two days. The media were all over the meeting at the presidential residence, making many pictures as the blimp slowly descended into Washington DC, and as Charles Evans Hughes shook hands with Tsar Nicholas himself.
The treaty itself was an economic one, including a few main points:
-The USA would, in cooperation with Henry Ford, export sizeable amounts of the Fordson tractor and even build a factory for said vehicle in Tsaritsyn ((modern day Volgograd)).
-A shared economic advice board would be founded with five American advisors and one for each of the Russian Union’s substates. These were to make sure economic relations between the two powers went in everyone’s best interests and as smoothly as possible.
-The “Russian Standard Oil” or “Rossiyskoye Standartnoye Maslo” company was to be founded, which is to encompass almost all of the Russian petroleum industry. The company’s shares are 70% American owned and 30% Russian owned. In return for this, the Americans would make large investments into said petroleum industry. More oil fields are to be set up, new regions are to be prospected for oil and more refineries are to be built.
-Furthermore, beginnings of a domestic blimp transport network are set up, with lines being established between the cities of St. Petersburg, Moscow, Kiev and Warsaw, as well as New York, Chicago, Washington DC and Philadelphia.
-Lastly, import and export tariffs on American goods would be lowered, making it easier and much cheaper for American companies to sell lots of products to the RU with bigger profits than before.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, November 19th, 1917

In Philadelphia, a grand construction effort is started. A new monument is being built called “The Protective Fathers Monument”, featuring statues of the founders of the American Armed Forces, each almost 100 feet high! George Washington is the central statue, as the founder of the army, then John Paul Jones and John Barry as the founders of the navy, Alexander Hamilton as the founder of the coast guard and lastly Samuel Nicholas as the founder of the marine corps. The monument is to be a sign of the grandeur and power of the great American Experiment, standing tall, awe-inspiring in this metropolitan city. Each statue is a large (granite covered with) bronze statue of the person in question, with extravagant decorations around their pedestals. Washington is depicted directing troops, surrounded by small statues of infantrymen and cavalrymen. John Paul Jones and John Barry stand back to back on the front deck of a ship that sticks out of the ground as the pedestal, sailors peeking over the railing with muskets, aimed at those passing by. Alexander Hamilton is depicted standing on some rocks like a lighthouse, holding up a lantern in one hand while pulling a man out of the granite and bronze waves with a rope in his other hand. Samuel Nicholas is depicted with an actual American flag in his hands which he held high, small statues of marines in uniform at his feet, lined up. It is planned to be finished by the end of spring.

Naval Station Norfolk, Virginia, December 1st, 1917

With the army now much larger after the mobilization effort, and getting more and more professionalized through the Four Year Plan, attention is now to also be laid on the navy. In Norfolk, Virginia, plans for the largest naval base ever are finalized and the NS opens. The gigantic military base houses thousands upon thousands of personnel and spans over 3400 acres. The main bulk of the atlantic fleet is to be stationed there from now on, rather than being scattered all over the west coast like before. The base is not to be visited by civilians, but for the opening ceremony, some press and visitors are let in to take a few pictures of the sailors and ships. Organization and centralization was key for this base, and it will certainly be a great help in expanding and upholding the US Navy.

1918 (Early Months)

Swedish civil war ends! Using their previous offensives gains, the Democrats negotiate a fair treaty with the Socialist. They will campaign until december, when elections will be held. Who knows which part would come out on top in 1919!?

In Spain the civil war also ends. The ruling conservative party had gradually been deposed. A coalition of socialist, anarchist, unionist, republicans, democrats, monarchist, foreigners, army deserters, catalonians, naval mutineers, and many others had now seized victory. Catalonia was in her prime, and rich from all the unrest. Parliament is established, as elections are held. Unsurprisingly the Socialist and Anarchist/Unionist take power under a coalition. The King is reduced to ceremonial rule. In Navarre the  Basque people keep opposing the Spanish Socialist, supported by Napoleon V.

134686-004-FA79C780.jpg

In France the war enters a new phase! Angered by so many failed deals, a RIght Wing coalition had formed to end the Socialist and Republicans. Championed by the Bonaparte’s, they enter the world stage again. Current Failed French Treaty Count; Four.

Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, and Madagascar all become nations in open rebellion against the French.

In China the Socialist have consolidated their power. Industrial growth and investment continues. The remaining rebel factions are holed up in geographically unreachable areas. By and large, the Socialist now ruled. A mixed blend of Trotsky and Tanosim, it was led by the Student and Worker committees from every province. With relative peace they are now establishing an actual government. Germany is asked to hand the stolen Chinese ships back over, from before the Great War.

Battle of Bear Valley: U.S. troops engage Yaqui Indian warriors in a minor skirmish in Arizona

The Historic Concert for the Benefit of Widows and Orphans of Austrian and Hungarian Soldiers is held at the Konzerthaus, Vienna.

Russia switches from the Julian calendar to the Gregorian calendar; the date skips from January 31 to February 14.

The last captive Carolina parakeet (the last breed of parrot native to the eastern United States) dies at the Cincinnati Zoo.

The small town of Codell, Kansas is hit for the third year in a row, on the same date, by a tornado.

Perhaps it started in China. Relatively malnourished peasants were the perfect host. Or maybe it started in Canada, from the cheap imported chinese labor. No one knows. No one knows it even exist. But it begins to spread. The world was connected. Trade was the veins of it’s human existence. Other things now travel over this web way. As some get sick, no one even registers it. Most believe measles or other diseases are more severe then a flu.

Mexico

Mexican Government officials begin to take back the countries wealth. U.S officials and industrialists were angered, but could do little but lobby. The government begins to acquire more funds.

Work into the more exotic plant industry begins. Agriculture in the valleys and southern mexico are fertile. Up north it is mostly tobacco and hemp.

Some Mexicans in american immigrate back, but not many. However more and more migrants from U.S occupied latin america are pouring in.

Villa assumes his old rank.

The South begins to consolidate. However in some areas Carranza’s former Federal army sit. They are not rebelling, but neither are they cooperating.

Small arms, field artillery, and ammo from Austria-Hungary arrive in Veracruz.

Ireland

Industry Slowly Grows.

Work into merchant marine ships and two destroyers begins, the start of Ireland’s trade fleet!

The Gaelic revival and fund raising are both successful. However protestant Ulster sticks to banning it. They have no wish to follow this Gaelic revival, and longingly look to a union.

Norway begins investment in Irish shipping.

Work begins on building the big textile factory.

Irish whisky and alcohol in general starts to meet the global market.

Several parties of Catholic IRB and Protestant Ulster men begin to clash in foothills. In several rolling battles dozens are killed and many more wounded. The Ulster Federal Guard is dispatched. They rounded both sides up and treated them the same. However this inflames the violence as now IRB and more radical protestants rally against the ‘docile’ government.

cropped_black-and-tans.jpg?t=1490437193

Italy

Italy was unable to reach the French or Swedish factions she wished to back. One by treaty, the other by geography.

The Blackshirt movement is growing. However many moderate and liberal Italians (And the ones still in power) condemned this fascist activity.

The call form the Blackshirts for a new vote was seen as violate. Contrary to their myths Giolittie had done much in his long rule. They had secure Italy’s natural borders [almost] from Austria and France. She had also gained lard tracts of colonies from Germans, Dutch, French, and natives. Furthermore most Italians wanted peace, not fascist uprisings. Tensions grow as the PM remains in power.

Work begins on the advanced Italian Air Force.

With lots of cheap african and peasant labor, and the materials, and funds, the Italian industry begins to explode at a rapid post war economy pace.

Japan

All of Japan occupied China now has it’s major cities connected. One can go from Korea to Beijing.

Japanese photos of the sectarian violence [on both sides but mainly the dutch] Fuels a wave of anti imperialist hate. Across asia Tanoist societies are rapidly forming and condemning the “White Man’s Burden”

The Blockade takes effect, but the Dutch soon Challenges it. (See More Later)

The Volunteer division forms mostly of Korean veterans, and lands. They begin to fight the Dutch in brutal, quick battles. Across the isle chain hundreds die.

Education Reform continues

The bill passes, with the Imperialist having previously opposed it now silent. They perhaps did not wish to risk losing their honor, over power.

Corregidor_gun.jpg

Austria

With the Great War victory aristocracy was becoming a defining feature again. This United Kingdom's model was accepted by many as their Kings began forming committees to list their grievances and wishes to Austria.

Using many tactics via money or illicit means, the Emperor flexed his diplomatic muscle. Also driven by pure need, the U.K will begin connecting her major cities with modern rails.

work on more remote infrastructure also begins. Hundreds of thousands of local troops are employed to help develop their own regions.

One growing problem the auditioners see is the lack of communication. Perhaps what they mean is the voice of the common man is little heard up top. U.K parliament was a sham. Other problems were the differing ethnic and ideological views. Growing Socialist and Democrat movements though not violent, protested for more industry/globalization.

The Austrian ports become mini bastions.

Thanks to the Gendarmerie it is relatively peaceful. Many new police organizations are formed.

Though seen as an act of war, many do not respond by mobilizing as well. Little wanted war. But Austria’s army ramping up would lead to further development. This increasingly reformed army is becoming an actual entity. The industry is doing the same.

296a3e410a22327457f2a71c67984688--army-u

Serbia

Though not yet a major automobile industry, small quantities of trucks are shipped.

People from all across Serbia move to differing areas to work and meet new people. This growing sense of moving work is tightening bonds in the country.

Industrial growth continues as planned.

Being flung back into a state of war for the fourth time, many Serbian’s protest. A disheartened loser of the previous elections and his liberal party refuse.

Though it is clear Romania is under threat, they see the Fascist as expendable. This is part of the growing counter movement to Balkan Fascism. Regardless 250k are deployed [with more coming], and work begins on defense.

Serbia begins to have the logistics corp make actual infrastructure networks.

Though not good besides on main roads, Serbia makes several armored cars. The quality of the Serbian car itself is dubious, who knew how they’d work. They begin to strive for better measures. Work begins on making vulcanized rubber tires. However Serbian supply of that is threatened by the growing Indonesians strife.

Poland

The announcement of a proposed vote on monarchy stirs man Poles hearts. There was various views, most not being inclined. However most wanted some form of it. They begin to take a more active part in politics as a result. The National Party doesn't garner much royalist sympathy from it however. There was already one Polish King with Imperial backing.

Women’s Suffrage is passed in Poland! Many Socialist had championed this, and worked together with the Nat. party.

Good mannered debates in Parliament begin as various Poles try to move for various positions. Within Poland proper there were plenty of conservative and nationalist parties. But most of them only saw the Socialist, Pilsudki and his “30 seat” party were seen as the minority. They had no desire to support them.  This however galvanized others to help them. Political campaigning is bigger than ever. Moderates are more leaning towards the center.

The Four Year Plan continues with some minor hiccups.

A committee begins working on streamlining/improving growth plans.

Industry in Poland was scare, but is now growing markedly. Around Warsaw the arms industry will soon be able to arm it’s own units. However the matter of quality is another matter.

Yet again the Poles mobilize. They had no love for Austria. Many Socialist who had no desire to help Fascist in Romania still joined. They saw it as an opportunity for other ventures.

A rag-tag band of highly motivated volunteers form the reserves. The army if needed could reach and support [with help] 600k men.

Little can be gleaned from Tanks. Polock engineers scratch their heads in vexation. Building tractors was hard enough.

d36352ac5f3363ced16dbc1d92d77446.jpg

Great Britain

Convoys were still not a concept that the RN had ever developed. In fact they had very little experience of saving shipping from U-Boats. The Germans had been incredibly docile with their subs. The Skilled RN crews and ships however helped negate losses. Destroyers begin to hunt down the more inexperienced French sub  crews.

War is declared and by and large supported. More Socialist and Union supported in Britain were not as pleased. Many also did not want war, even if it was only at sea. There are several good mannered strikes and talkie reels addressing it.

Napoleon V graciously thanks the Empire for it’s help.

For now Britain is busy testing the new Argus, and learning from it. They will take the results and begin working on a better model.

1924 is set the mark for a turreted tank. For now work continues on making a reliable MK III tank. However they were by and large relics from the Great War. Massive beast, mainly meant for countering trench breakthroughs. Though work has begun to make them more offensive, many are starting to see them as unreliable beast.

The British in the east rally as planned. Many Indian veterans re-enlist and are shipped out. They grimly hoped they wouldn’t be forced to fight until the last again.

Other Baldwinian machinations happen.

4th French Republic

Jean Jaures begins his personal tour. He was a massively respected man by both sides. Actually seeing him begins to bing the Socialist closer together under him.

Propaganda ramps up. Many are starting to listen to the 4th newspapers.

The Lion of Paris begins to ruthlessly purge Paris of the fascist uprisings. They scatter  into hiding.

For now recruitment and formation of the agency begins.

Hard nosed police crackdowns are efficient, as industry resumes. Many saw it as meeting the Monarchist force with force.

The first prototype of a French tank will debut in 1919.

The conscription effort begins to rope in more and more French men. Most French males were now fighting or involved in the civil war.

Barricade18March1871.jpg

Brazil

The invasions are a relative pain to Brazil. Though victorious in every battle, French and Dutch army units had gone underground. The whole settler base would welcome Brazil columns, then stab them in the back as they left. Growing unrest and violence was leading to a full blown sectarian violence. Both provinces are ‘occupied’ however, but with heavy resistance.

Industry continues as planned.

Frontinisim continues to rise amongst the more conservative Brazilians. However the Socialist and Republican coalition were not keen on letting this movement steal their seats. They begin to counter campaign, championing the rights of the union, and rural communities. The moderate party stuck in the middle was losing more and more seats to both sides.

Russia

The plan works well as many out of work Russians flock to take the labor. Soon Russia would have more workers then she does projects.

Russia begins gathering some of her sharper minds to improve her own research departments. They begin to work with other Russian officials.

An updated model of a fighter plane begins. Not exactly a pioneer in the aviation area, Russia will struggle to make a proper dogfighter. For now they work on updating current recon models.

More of Russia’s private industry is allocated to war. By now after four years of hard fought battles, she was not in her previous prime. Many men and equipment had been lost in the various wars. But the Duma was still in full power.

1200px-Bayan1903Kronstadt.jpg

Ottomans

Fortification in European land begins.

Istanbul reforms begin.

Oil production continues.

The volunteer division begins forming. It is primarily ex janissaries.

Ottomans struggle to make tractors, tank research is not feasible currently.

The Ottomans focus first on expanding the shipyards. Then they will be able to produce modern ships.

The marriage garners more Arab support.

Pan Islam gains some support in Persia, but is not unified.

Rail artillery though not new will take time, work begins.

The Indonesians graciously accept the aid, while the Dutch condemn it.

United States

The Four Year Plan continues, as planned!

The Manufacturing belt though with investment is struggling to keep up the pace. As they expand the need for more and more skilled labor is needed. A uni or two even pop up to help supplement the growing working classes here.

Immigration continues in relatively large numbers. Plenty of Chinese, Indonesians, and Indochinese make up this newest wave in the west.

Blimp work continues as the U.S focuses on a reliant domestic model.

Though still torn in civil war, the Russian/American treaty is passed.

The new monument begins work.

Norfolk Shipyards begin increased upgrades.

The tank program slowly continues. Many were losing faith in the ability of these ponderous beast.

Agriculture plan continues as more farmers buy tractors.

West Elizabeth denies statehood.

gettyimages-176649821-2.jpg

Germany

The German army begins mobilization. Many democrats, Socialist, and average Germans protested this move. They wanted peace. However the War Hawks and Generals turned politicians champion it. They use it to tighten their grip. King Ruprecht of Bavaria mobilizes his Bavarians reluctantly.

The first German anti-tank rifle premiers. It is ungainly but is proven to penetrate weaker points in tank armor.

Support for a final war for France passes by a decent margin. Though many wanted peace, the politicians and war hawks smelled opportunity. The Kaiser for his part wanted to end his socialist mistakes. But would the War Hawks stop at that?

Work into a German counter to the HMS Argus begins.

Introduction:

Arthur Griffith, Taoiseach of Ireland meets with parliament. As he walks into the large room his friends and even opponents greet him. As he finds his seat at the center of the room is filled with chatter and as he sits down and gets his things ready for the day of discussion of topics everyone else is ready and quiets down. As Arthur gives a speech to his fellow parliament and to the few press allowed to listen into the speech which would be put in the news papers all over Ireland.

“Good morning gents, As many of you know there has been increasing violence between the IRB and Protestant groups has taken place over the weekend and into the early hours of this morning. While this is to not be tolerated, violence from either side must be condemned by all parties. There is no place in this island for petty violence and I ask each and every man in this room, and in the nation. Why.. why must we fight each other over religion, and because someone is different to us. I see no point in it. After all the English are gone. This island has gained what it’s sought for 800 years. They were the problem, they were the ones keeping us divided, they promoted sectarianism amongst the people. As long as Protestants and Catholics hated each other then that meant the easier it was for them to control us, use us and our land, and exploit us for our resources. This is self evident as every single time the Catholics and Protestants started coming together England instantly came in and shattered it. I ask each and every Irishman, Catholic or Protestant, or of any faith. Please stop the violence, it’s pointless and disgusting. We should be focused on coming together, not falling apart. While it is understandable that men and women of each side might have grievances with the other side, and have wounds. Be they old or fresh that need time to heal. It is important to realize that revenge and hatred are blinding and lead to nothing but no violence and never seem to end. It is my hope that Ireland as a whole can come together in solidarity. Protestant or catholic, rich or poor, we are all Irish and we are all deserving of a chance at life, and to pursue our dreams and live in peace amongst each other as EQUALS. No man is better than another. Let it be a reminder that to attack or attempt to harm a protestant or catholic, or anyone in this country I will have it known that anyone caught doing this will be severely punished and years of prison time or death shall be their sentence.”

With this applause erupted throughout the meeting chamber.

Internal Reform

Industrial growth across the country is to remain in the spotlight. Ireland must be modernized, and with modernization brings jobs to the masses, and better conditions for people to live in.

Gaelic revival policies in all but the majority protestant counties except fermanagh and Armagh  has decent public support, and most of the common folk partake in it. Pressure is to be kept on making sure schooling in 26 counties is done in Irish, and English is to remain a secondary language. Though with donations and bits of funding and volunteer groups the large numbers of Irish Catholics in Fermanagh and Armagh get schooling in Irish as well.

In response to all the obvious blockage of the Gaelic revival in the Northern counties the government makes it clear that Irish needs to be at the VERY LEAST be optional for students to learn in those counties, though the government recognizes the counties right to speak English and Ulster Scot. And pleads with the northern counties to give Irish languages programs at least slight funding. In return the government would be willing to compensate the counties by certain means. Whether through increased funding to Northern Irish industries or programs, or whether it be decreased tax of something in exchange for that compromise, the government will try to work out something.

Combined operations with police forces from the very far south of Ireland to the north of Ireland are to work together to find the ringleaders of the extremist organizations forming and arrest them and as many of their supporters as possible.

Ireland becomes a big Whisky/alcohol producer, back home there are also many new pubs and taverns popping up around the country creating lots of revenue. The pints are calling! Sláinte!

Progress on the medal board/ department of public health has received more funding in the last 6 months. While it is still not fully funded it outlines its plans to give every Irish citizen access to medical care and treatment, especially the poor and rural Irish. It should take another 6 months or so to start setting up the first clinics and hiring on staff for them.

    Military Policy

The military factories are completed.Civilian workers are hired on at all factories. With the outbreak of what can only be seen as the beginning of a violent clash between extremist groups the military is ordered to stay out of it for now. As a heavy military presence might just piss people off and cause more issues than they solve. Recruiters for the military scour Ireland looking for 20k recruits. Pretty much every leading general and training instructor within the army is an IRB member or would support them in a civil war. Higher Ups within military command meet in secret with their IRB member friends in which the military assures the IRB that the Military and many within the government would support crushing the ulster extremists.

Eoin O’ Duffy and Michael collins are also leaders of the IRB themselves and let it be known that the government in Dublin is not Docile. It is trying to maintain peace while at the same time arming itself in preparation for a ulster uprising,And that it would work with Far right, or far left Irish extremists during the event of a civil war so that together they could beat back the unionists. The government and military are just waiting for an uprising to occur so that they do not look like an aggressor as to avoid British agitation. Further secret meetings are held between the military and government with the IRB and other Irish nationalist groups in order to quell any doubts that they were on the opposite side.

    Actions

  • Industrial growth continues, however slowly throughout Ireland. The government keeps supplying funds and what it cannot spare for industry is made up for and then some by British investors. [mod]

  • Ship building in Northern Ireland is booming, from English investment, and not just the north but all of Ireland sees Norwegian investment into shipping

  • The Irish Army sets a goal of 20k men it will attempt to recruit into the army by the end of the year, which would add up to then 70k soldiers in the army. The Military is led by mainly IRB members, and so military higher ups meet in secrecy with IRB members and confirm that the military would support fighting ulster extremists alongside the IRB in hopes that all of the Irish far right and left groups could fight alongside the military and crush any ulster uprising if the need arises, many within the Dublin government would also support such a move, they are just waiting for an Ulster uprising to happen. [mod]

  • Gaelic Revival policies are enforced in 26 of the counties, and in Fermanagh and Armagh fundraisers and donations by prominent figures and supports of the movement provide funds  for Irish Catholics to learn Irish, and Gaelic history. Also it is made clear the main supporters of the movement don’t share the socialist views as some in the movement. And it is let known that in Ireland it is not yet time for such drastic social changes as women playing sports alongside men. [Mod]

  • The Department of Public health was formed but needed more funds, after 6 more months funding for a series of clinics and supplies is ready, all that is left is to build them and to hire workers. The first set of clinics should be ready within another 6 months. And then their effectiveness and worth will be recorded after another year of being open. [mod]

  • Ireland has received a number of investors, for the moment though it seems nobody else wishes to trade that hasn’t already made contact so the invitation to the world is ended. Perhaps once Ireland is further developed countries will want to invest and trade

  • The violence and terrorism from the IRB and extremist unionists is condemned by all parties in government and all counties agree to work together via police forces to identify the ringleaders, find out how many members each side has and start arresting as many as possible before more the conflict worsens. [mod]

  • Parliament attempts to negotiate with the Protestant counties about securing funding to have optional Irish lessons taught in north Irish schools. The government is willing to make compromises with the protestant counties in exchange for the funding. [mod]

Traitors to the East!

GQG, French High Command was embroiled in planning and commanding. Reports flooded in from all areas of the front. An assault repelled in one sector, an unsustainable defence in another. discussion flew back and forth among the general staff. Debates became heated, one man believed a course of action to be superior over another. This continued as at had since 1914 with the beginning of the Great War and even further into the birth of the Revolution.
On yet another early morning, GQG once more gathered to discuss the operations of the N.L.A, and furthermore how victory in France could be achieved. That marked the day the Revolution was truly beset on all sides. A young attendant burst through the room, he held a single report gathered from the east. It read only four words “Les Allemands se mobilisent!” The Germans were mobilizing…

Traitors.. Oathbreakers, the lot of them. An unprovoked act of aggression rang out from Germany. The 4th Republic had been nothing but receptive and cordial to the Germans. This is how they repaid their debts.

Now, the Revolution was truly under siege. Beset on all sides, The Germans marshalled in the east after a vote in the Reichstag, to the west the Royalist traitors moved against the N.L.A., in the south the 3rd Republic stood ever defiant. There was no question, true freedom would be won with blood and iron.

Beset on all sides

“The invaders to the east are traitors.. oathbreakers! They will not rest until the glorious revolution has been completely destroyed! We will hold our ground Comrades! Resist the invaders! Death is preferable to existence under German hegemony! Give them nothing…”

From intercoms across 4th Republic cities propaganda constantly calls out during the daylight hours. Citizens are educated on the horrors of German occupation and urged to take up arms and resist the German invaders at every step. Popular figureheads, including Chancellor Jean Jaures travel across the border regions delivering rallying speeches and insisting the Germans will be beat back as soon as they had come.

On top of the increased propaganda efforts, large scale conscription begins. Injecting the N.L.A will fresh men for the inevitable struggle in the east.

Total War

With a looming German declaration of war, a three front war was inevitable. The N.L.A at its current state would be hard pressed to defend the Republic on all fronts both in terms of supplies and men. As such the 4th Republic declares a state of total war. All production, logistics, and raw material assets at the Republic’s disposal are to be completely dedicated to the war effort.

In addition to the complete restructuring of the French transportation and industrial sector a policy of stockpile is put into place. Rationing begins in major population centers and large sums of food and other non-military products are purchased from the international market. The following precautions are enacted in order to limit the effectiveness of a possible German blockade of 4th Republican ports.

Ascension of the Grand Quartier General

Panic spread quickly across the 4th Republic’s higher ups and government. More and more aspects of Government responsibility had been taken over by the Grand Quartier General, French Military Supreme Command. Now, the survival of the Revolution itself rested on the ability of the N.L.A to repel the invaders on all sides.

In early July the question of emergency powers is put debate within the Government. Heated rhetoric flies across the room as the debate rages for hours, finally the decision to put it to the vote is reached. Hours of suspense followed, the very future of France lay in the balance. Finally the results arrive, with a narrow margin the act passed. GQG was granted emergency authority. Though not a desirable act, it was necessary to protect the revolution

To the public, no vote had occurred. No newspapers or media sources so much as mentioned the topic. To the public, their glorious chancellor Jean Jaures still lead the government and championed the revolution. However the truth was far from it. The vote passed days earlier effectively elevated GQG into a position of unsurpassed authority.

Corsica, France, 1918

The Port of Ajaccio bustled with activities as thousands flooded its streets - the Austrian High Command, in conjunction with the Napoleonic Loyalists, established the Isle of Corsica to be its staging point in their effort to spearhead a new front through the South of France. The Army was specifically segregated from the native citizenry, positioned off to the eastern portion of the Town - military elements established their bases and built up their own infrastructure to further ease the issue of logistical transport.

Off the coast of Ajaccio, the majority of the Austrian Navy lay in waiting while the remainders continue patrolling the shipping lanes as they guard the ferrying of the infantry vessels from Croatia to France. The finest of the Empire had been assembled into an Expeditionary Army under the behest of the Emperor, led by Conrad von Hotzendorf, they were dispatched from the Ports of Imperial Croatia, and ferried over to Corsica. Specialized aspects of the army began establishing a headquarters for the monitoring of all military activity within France as the rest of the Army sailed forth for the French Port of Perpignan.

In Vienna, an International News Conference is held as the Austrians present to the reporters and media aspects of those who chose to attend such an event. Snippets from the Conference are found below.

“The British and the German Empires had broken the Treaty of Vichy by declaring war on one of the French political entities; therefore, in order to protect our own interests within the region, we do duly notify the leaders of world of our intentions.”

“The United Kingdoms of Greater Austria does hereby announce the solidification of the Habsburg-Bonaparte Alliance. And from hereafter, announce the following;

THE UNITED KINGDOMS OF GREATER AUSTRIA, IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE WILL OF NAPOLEON THE FIFTH, DECLARES ITSELF TO BE IN A STATE OF WAR AGAINST THE REPUBLIC AND SOCIALIST ASPECTS OF THE FRANKISH PEOPLE.”

IMPERIAL STATE OF AFFAIRS

Civilian Affairs

Daily life continues as normal within the Empire, despite it announcing to be in a state of war. The Imperial Government had not called upon any special conscription laws, or has demanded for increased military production quotas. As it seems, the people of the Empire have been acting impartially to it, with the war being so far-flung with only a small portion of the population partaking in it actively, there seemed to be no worries about it.

In response to the protests carried out by Socialist and Democratic elements of the Empire, the House of Lords concedes partially. Publicly announced, the Imperial House of Common is to undergo a reconstructing to better represent the common citizenry of the Empire in the coming years.

Accompanying such efforts, the Council takes heed to the various political blocs demands for expanded industrial projects. A series of calculated subsidization projects are initiated throughout Bohemia and Slovakia as the Council attempts to improve the Industrial Facilities of these locations.

A maximum of eight hours is established for work-shifts for those within the industrial departments of the Empire, working any further pass such would entitle the worker to overtime pay.

The Emperor’s Will is made clear to his Parliament as he forces through a new reform. The educational system for the common people of the Austrian Empire is henceforth nationalized under the Imperial Parliament. The payments of teachers, their utilities and staff are subsequently subsidized by the State as the Parliament proceeds with the construction of new schools or the expanding of current ones. Each school within the Empire are required to teach basic German to all their students, as well as having to sing the anthem of both their respective Kingdom and the Empire itself among many other things, in order to propagate the ideals of the Austrian Empire into the minds of the young.

Military Affairs

The majority of the Imperial Army is demobilized on the borders of Poland, Ukraine, Romania, and Serbia, leaving behind a 5 kilometre wide demilitarized zone. Specialized civilian contractors are commissioned in order to replace the departing army elements that were constructing the defensive systems on the borders, they continue the construction efforts. Detachment of military personnels remain on the border still, but mostly as patrol forces, and checkpoint guards - they operate on a rotation pattern, the soldiers being replaced by new ones every 3 months.

An Expeditionary Army formed mainly around Austrian-speaking soldiers is dispatched to the French War in order to aid their Napoleonic Allies. They base their offensive into Republican France on the isle of Corsica.

The economy returns back to the civilian quarter as the need for it lessens.

A student organization from the Imperial War Academy of Prague attempts to minimize the size of a common artillery piece in order to counter the growing threat that is armored vehicles. Various diagrams and blueprints have been designed, but have not yet come into fruition as they attempt to figure out the intricacy of such a weapon.

Foreign Affairs

The Imperial Ships that had taken residence in the Dalmatian Ports under Serbian control vacate the area. Leaving the Serbians no explanations as the Navy strikes out into the open sea.

Supplies built up for the Invasion of Romania are redirected straight back to the Monarchist-coalition of France. Hoping to aid in alleviating any issues they may have. Foodstuff, industrial resources, and much more other miscellaneous goods.

The construction of the Berlin-Baghdad Railway in Austrian Territory is stopped entirely by force of arms as the Austrian Special Gendarmerie force foreign workers to take an indefinite pause. A statement is issued, directed towards the Ottomans - it instructs them to retract their Condemnation of Austrian Politics, failure to doing so will result in their workers being deported, and the initiation of the dismantling of the Berlin-Baghdad Railway in Austrian territory.

IMPERIAL ACTIONS

  • The House of Bonaparte and the House of Habsburg undergo a union of marriage as they solidify their Alliance. Subsequently, now allied to the Monarchist elements of France, the Austrian Empire pledges its military to support the newfound rebellion, its troops landing on the shores of southern France.
  • Promises of reforms are publicly stated in regards to the state of the House of Commons. The Imperial Parliament had not been able to keep up with the Empire’s upheaval and was therefore thrown into chaos, an issue made apparent to the Imperial Council. Though not confirmed, it is rumored that each of the Kingdoms will have their own Parliaments spoken in their own native tongue that would best represent the issues of the common people of the various ethnicities of the Empire.
  • In order to further progress the industrialization of the Empire, a series of subsidizing projects are carried out in the regions of Bohemia and Slovakia. Aiming to expand and improve upon the currently established industrial sectors, they will be able to open up thousands of jobs for those unemployed, while improving the capacity of materials being manufactured.
    • Work shifts are now set at a maximum of eight hours per day throughout the Empire for those working within the Industry. Employees may be instructed to work pass such hours, but are now entitled to overtime payment.
  • An educational reform is passed, enforced by the Emperor. Schools are now nationalized, their progress subsidized by the State. It intricately begins to indoctrinate the growing minds of the Empire, attempting to teach both loyalty, and ingenuity - a greater sense of purpose for all.
  • The armies deployed to the Empire’s borders are demobilized, leaving behind them a demilitarized zones. Civilian traffic between the designated neighbouring regions are off-limit, those attempting to do such are imprisoned, fined and returned back to their respective locations.
  • Students from the Academy of Prague lead the Empire’s efforts in attempting to develop sophisticated and improved anti-armor weapons. Their current project is the attempting of minimizing artillery weapons in order to provide improved maneuverability while developing precise and powerful punching power, the model for such attempts is based off the 7 cm Gebirgsgeschütz M 99, a mountain gun capable of being dismantled and reassembled quickly.
  • Imperial Ships leave the Serbian owned Dalmatian Ports. Tasked with the assistance of the operational maneuvers into the French theater of war.
  • Supplies that were designated to assist in the Invasion of Romania are redirected to Napoleonic forces in France in attempts to alleviate their logistical needs.
  • The Berlin-Baghdad Railway is stopped indefinitely, the reasoning being that Austria demands the Ottoman Empire to retract their condemnation. They threaten to dismantle the entire portion of railway in Imperial Territory if they are rebuffed.

The Hellenic Kingdom

image.thumb.png.c19f9cbfa7ab235e7c5e0f6b0cc1110c.png

Towards the end of 1918, the new elections end. Konstantine Stavros, of the right-wing fascist party emerges as the new Prime Minister. 53 years old, he appears to be far more moderate than his predecessor, and soon begins to end relations with the Central Powers group. A devout nationalist, a moderate fascist and seemingly a decent man when it comes to his own people.

Greece has spent the past years in turmoil, reeling from the catastrophic defeat in the war. But with the rise of Stavros and his right-hand man, Eliftheros of Epirus, it can only be hoped that some semblant of national pride can be restored.

Life in the city of Athens and every other major town and city in Greece has transformed into a buzz of constant activity as new factories reach for the skies and soldiers parade through the streets, dressed proudly and marching with even greater pride.

At sea, the Hellenistic Navy patrols their territory, the prows of their steel behemoths slicing through the sea with ease.

It is a time of reforms, re-ignited pride in a bruised national identity, and an outwards gaze upon the world around Greece, and the promises that it holds.

Stavros spent nights working around the clock, tirelessly reading reports, appearing in public and igniting the people with pride. Both he and Eliftheros of Epirus wear themselves to the bone enacting their reforms and kickstarting a Greece that has suffered at the hands of a failed war. No more, they swear to each other after long nights of work, over a glass of whiskey and a cigar. No more defeats and humiliations for their proud nation. They had suffered them enough.

Actions

-Submarines begin patrolling the eastern Mediterranean in secret, getting familiar with the ‘terrain’ and drilling. The Navy does the same, openly. They continue to focus on the training and strategies imparted on them by the British in 1912.

-Building of industry and logistical core of the nation. Roads, shipyards, factories, railways. Jobs are stimulated by the creation of new Government sponsored companies, that build up industrial land. The main focus is Shipyards and related industries. Experts from other countries are offered good money to come and work in Greece.

-Eliftheros of Epirus, leader of the Hellenistic Army, has spent the past year stimulating nationalistic zeal within Greece. He works very carefully upon a book called the Rise of the New Empire. Within it, he ties Hellenistic and Byzantine roots into a careful renaissance of Neo-Antiquity within Greece. With it, he connects the people to these glories of the past and attempts to reignite national pride and boil the blood of young men with promises of glory. (He also begins to disseminate propaganda blaming the Ottomans/muslims/arabs for the failings of Greece in the previous war)

-Four new submarines, a dreadnought, 2 cruisers and 3 minesweepers/destroyers are laid down for construction at the start of the season. Or at least, as many as can be started. The rest will simply have to wait.

-More troops are raised, hoping to ride the wave of nationalistic fervor. It is also a ripe time to try out the new military training system.

-Konstantine Stavros, from Cyrpus himself, speaks out to the Greek people of occupied lands on the radio. He reminds them of their heritage, of the pride that it brings, and encourages them to never forget who they are, or what they stand for. In secret, agents attempt to make contact with hardcore groups in Ottoman land, Cyprus and other regions to establish a network of possible resistants.

-Researchers establish a first project. The improvement of submarines and torpedo boats. Faster, quieter, stronger, more agile, longer time underwater. Better conditions, more torpedoes. A comprehensive improvement of both naval vessels.

-Researchers focus on their second project, which is to focus far more on Radios and telecommunication. To improve their radios and code-senders by increasing clarity, range, stability, etc etc.

-A reworking of the military structure under Eliftheros of Epirus. Every region has its own army, under the Hellenistic Army. Qualified, highly trained inspector corps go through each region once a month for inspection. Each region trains its men through standardized means, taught by soldiers and officers that have gone through military training school. The inspectors ensure that every region is up to par and educate or train officers who have slacking standards. The goal is to achieve a standardized, highly drilled military.

-A general modernization of the country, from schools to healthcare. A slow moving project, as much a matter of inertia and active involvement. On the backburner for now.

Diplomacy

-Diplomats hasten to Great Britain, Austria-Hungary, Serbia and the Russian powers.

-Greek Culture is stimulated through the encouragement of poets, playwrights and authors to write books about Greece and its past glories. Cultural and national pride are encouraged, and many classics are implemented into school teachings. In a way, this new deluge of entertainment is also meant to satisfy and pacify the masses.

-A formal demand is sent to the Ottoman Empire. Cyprus must be greek again, and Greece will not stand to see their people under the arab rule. Cyprus has always been Greek, and the rulers would see it be the case once again.

-Latin is installed as a secondary optional language to be taught in school starting at the age of 10. Greek is standardized and re-ignited as a cultural thoroughfare.

-Stavros works carefully upon the parliament over the months, carefully deviating power from the crown and those ultra-zealous fascists or other without any overt signs. At the same time, he keeps the ailing king distant from politics, preferring to be in de facto control of the nation. It is not rare for him to speak well of the olden days, of a Republic and of Greek democracy. Though he never openly opposes the monarchy.

-Argentina, the United States of America, India, Socialist China, Japan and Canada are contacted for trade. To conduct transactions and allow for a flow of resources into Greece to fuel the rising industrial capacity.

-QUARANTINE! Measures are put in place at ports and at borders to verify for those affected of plague, and Stavros ensures that government programs expound on the usefulness of washing ones self and keeping an eye out for those affected.

The Legacy of Napoléon

“France once again, like the times of old, finds herself surrounded by barbaric European powers seeking to carve up her borders.  The HUN to the east drives through France’s eastern fields while the FROG supports enemies of the Republic from within. But like the times of old, France will be victorious, for she is mighty, righteous, and her cause is just.”

-An excerpt from Jean Jaures in his speech to the National Assembly

In December, a new National Assembly convened in Paris.  Former enemies now stood together in these sacred halls. Ministers from the 3rd and 4th Republic assembled to decide the future course of France.  For the first time since the beginning of the 4th Republic, the tricolor, devoid of any socialist imagery, was hoisted above the assembly. It was symbolic to all, who understood the unity needed to bring about a French victory in this struggle against foreign tyranny.

az_uAlrjoKCkZuh-m7f0pSF1jiR7GJAcGQKu2MDqVghKXJD0LGvK_18u0THDPrKHN1oqHImORqq-RGNWRAI242w2xKa2E4qVUdeFp7h8BzP8s7suKiNcAz1XUa9rxpAvELKyxmSc

The mood of the assembly was grim.  Republicans and Socialists were not on friendly terms.  But there was a man they could all respect, who they came to hear.  Jean Jaures.

President Jaures took the floor in the midst of a tense silence.  Both sides were scared of Germany, of each other, for the future of their children and for the future of France.  It was in this atmosphere that Jaures began…

“Allens!  Enfants de la Patrie!  Le jour de gloire est arrivé! …”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKtCVblxDRc

The once silent hall took to the song of France.  La Marseillaise. The silent halls now boomed with the song of hundreds of men dedicated to the cause of France.  A tear fell down Jaures’ face as he concluded La Marseillaise, now holding the attention and devotion of the halls.

Countrymen, above all we need to come together.  We must deprive ourselves of titles like Loyalist, Socialist, Monarchist.  We must remember that we are French, and that nothing takes precedence above that.  I call upon Prince Napoléon to join me in the defense of France. If they should forsake this call, let it be known that they were content to abandon la Patrie to the German HUNS.  They will be complicit in the terror upon our people waged against international law. From this day forward, we call ourselves France, with no political denotations, because that is what we are.  We fly the flag of Napoléon I, and carry his revolutionary torch forward.

Will we let the HUN gas our wives and our children in the streets of Paris?  In Marseilles? In Lyon?

“NO!”, booms the hall.

We shall fight on to the bitter end, and we will win!

VIVE LA FRANCE.

The streets of Paris, amidst the dust, destruction, disease and bombing, erupted with spontaneous demonstrations of patriotic fervor.  What happens to Paris happens to France. All across the country, news spread of Jaures’ speech and call for unity in the defense of France.  How the French people react remains to be seen, but in the end the defense of France is the foremost duty of every Frenchman.

The Bavarian Conspiracy

A pamphlet begins to be circulated throughout various press lines.

No one truly knows who fired the shot that killed Ludwig III, king of Bavaria, the shot that began the Great War. Many believed the French to be responsible, a lie, conjured by the Kaiser to keep the masses ignorant of his sins.  French Intelligence has unveiled the greatest lie perpetrated in the modern century. A lie used to advance the imperialist agenda of the general staff and the Kaiser, to perpetrate a war of aggression, to tread on the sovereignty of millions, and a lie used to defame France.

The German general staff created and funded the execution of the conspiracy to kill King Ludwig III of Bavaria.  It's no secret that the OHL dictated King Ludwig’s agenda for the day he was sent to visit Alsace-Lorraine. It is clear given new revelations that they purposefully sent the king to Alsace-Lorraine so their terrorist group could carry out the assassination.  The assassination gave cause for the OHL to have its war, and reason to curb the growing power of the democratic German reichstag in favor of its unrestricted abilities. King Ludwig was the perfect candidate. His dislike of the French, weariness of the west, and status as a possible opposition leader to the Kaiser made him the prime target for his conspiracy.  The OHL was immediately prepared to act on this “French aggression” and had already mobilized its “defensive army”.

Given these revelations, it is clear that Europe was swindled into war by the Germans at the loss of an innocent man’s life.

The Battle for Paris

Manfred von Richthofen stood on the bridge of his airship, the Zeppelin Armada was the greatest Air Force in the world. None could match Germany’s glory or innovation.

He could see the city of the Armada broke through the clouds, the roaring sound of German plane engines filled the sky, ahead he could see dots filling the skies above Paris.

“The Battle for the skies.” he comments “You have the bridge.” he says to the other officer onboard as he runs out.

Everything from Fokkers, Tri-planes, to Albatross detached from the Carrier Zeppelins. The non dedicated Zeppelins in the fleet prepared to drop their payloads. Within mere minutes the French Air Force was engaging the fleet, Planes whipped past this way and that, bullets littered the air as Zeppelin crews manned their static positions returning fire. Machine guns to Rifles fired at the enemy planes.

The Army of Poland begins to move off its border with Austria seeing the demobilization from the Empire, though garrisons would remain to continue to fortify that particular border for the time being. Allowing peace to once more reign in Poland, the Nationalist hail it as a diplomatic victory as Austria is seemingly backed off through the effort of the Russian Union, with Poland in particular taking a strong stance against it.

Domestic Political Policy

The Polish Nationalists would seek to consolidate smaller Nationalist, Conservative and Moderate Groups together into one party under the leadership of Pilsudski, in an effort to create a united Nationalist Political Front for the upcoming 1920 Election. Citing that it has adopted Market Reforms, Social Democratic Programs, Conservative Values and a strong Nationalist Effort in order to inspire patriotism to foster prosperity and strong national spirit. (Mod)

The Nationalists would continue their campaigning, citing their record of workers rights, agrarian and industrial interests leading to an ultimately balanced Nationalist platform. The Nationalists would also promote the defence of the nation as a priority, along with ensuring the prosperity and growth of the Polish cultural identity through various programs. (Mod)

Education, Education, Education. The Nationalist would ask all parties to cooperate in bipartisan legislation to overhaul and improve the education system. Literacy rates, Polish Nationalism, Mathematics, Languages and further education and scholarships to foreign universities would sought to be overall improved and promoted in the education system. (Mod)

Domestic Economic Policy

The Polish Government would announce they would pay for any surplus of farmed goods, encouraging increased food production in the Country so that it can be sent to the Soviet Front to help feed the troops and civilians in the region. It would begin sending stockpiles to that front. (Mod)

The Four Year Plan continues! (Mod)

Continued focus on growing the Domestic Arms Industry (Mod)

Military Policy

The Polish Army would seek to mount permanent defences on the border with the Austrian Empire with artillery emplacements, fortifications, trenches and the likes. (Mod)

The Government would seek to find ways to improve the Army and its structure, outside advisers would be hired. (Mod)

Research

Research Departments would seek to roll back on tanks, without British models to study the effort was fruitless. Instead looking to create things such as armoured and armed cars/trucks. (Mod)

Russia

The Great Sham

Following a brief conference with both Britain and France, Vladimir Purishkevich sat in his office in the Duma Building sipping a glass of vodka when a knock rings out from the door. He calls them in without looking up, before realizing it was Ivan Ilyin. The two men greet each other before sitting down at the desk when the Prime Minister hands him a report from the Federal Security Service with the words: The Bavarian Conspiracy. He reads the document slowly before looking up at the Prime Minister and saying in a low voice, “Millions of men, for what?” Ilyin responds bluntly, “Nothing.”

The next day, the document would be circulated throughout Russia, and a speech is soon given on the steps of the Duma Building. “With the recent revelations made by the French Government, we question much of what the German Empire has done. Millions have died since that day, and Europe has still not recovered after nearly five years. Following the complete violation of the Treaty of Geneva with direct intervention in France, the Russian Union will be canceling the reparations due to Germany and the United Kingdoms of Greater Austria. Instead, the states of Poland and Ukraine are each to be allocated 25% of the fund, which will be granted over the next five years in order to improve their countries following their involvement in the war. Secondly, we no longer support the actions of either country in France and believe that their civil war should be allowed to continue as it was. The popular French movement is clear to us.”

The Balkan Nuissance

Following the knowledge of a Greek ultimatum to the Ottoman Empire, the Russian Duma would formally denounce their destabilizing actions and the leadership of Greece. The diplomats sent to meet were to be turned around before entering the country, sent home only with the threat of their embassy being closed if they continue with their plans for a submarine fleet or further pushed demands with the Ottoman Empire.

Food for the East

The Russian Duma would put a vote to the Grand Assembly to allocate enough food to keep the soldiers well fed and feed the Russians caught up in the war who were likely to be suffering in the barren east. With the railways being destroyed food had been low, and the Duma hoped to relieve the soldiers who had been through much in the last years. Such as when they called for workers, the Duma also calls for donations of food for the war and emphasize the need to ration their own food supply so that the country does not starve.

The Russian Workers Project

President Purishkevich would take the massive outpouring of workers to aid the soldiers in non-combative waves to push forward his early plans for massive workers’ rights reforms to help propel the capitalist economy. It demands all workers be over the age of 18, provides for a maximum of forty-five hours during the workweek, and aims to provide living accommodations for all workers. Brusilovo would receive the majority of the excess workers in order to aid in the rebuilding of the city. Families would be encouraged to relocate there as well, as the Duma immediately begins to attempt to set up the same education initiatives as done in the Union controlled cities. Men would also be sent to Poland and Ukraine, to aid in the building of defenses.

Russian Industry

Engineers are requested to continue working on developing a workable fighter design, hoping to get a prototype model in the air by 1920.

The Union begins to emphasize the need for automotive industry and hopes to use the Trade Pact created with the United States to help build up their own. They encourage entrepreneurs to work with American companies in order to build their own domestic companies.

ACTIONS

[Read The Great Sham]

The Greek diplomats are not allowed into the country and Russia demands they cease their aggressive actions at risk of losing their embassy.

Extra food is allocated to the eastern front for both soldiers and peasants.

The Russian Workers’ project is used to continue repairing the rails and begin rebuilding the city of Brusilovo, where the Duma would attempt to bring about the same initiatives as elsewhere. Poland and Ukraine are granted some workers as well to aid in any projects they may have. (Some other details which could be important are in there)

The Union begins to emphasize the need for automotive industry and hopes to use the Trade Pact created with the United States to help build up their own. They encourage entrepreneurs to work with American companies in order to build their own domestic companies.

The Duma calls for an additional 1-2 million volunteers, and if needed, conscripts to cycle out the battered men in the Eastern and Caucasian Fronts.
