The Empire of Japan

Naval_Ensign_of_Japan.svg

A bad beginning makes a bad ending

On a newspaper in a cafe in Tianjin stood in bold letters “VICTORY IN INDONESIA” proclaiming the victory of Japanese and Indonesian forces. As well as the formation of the unified Republic of Indonesia under a democratic government. This article was read by Lieutenant General Weong Yong Yang as he took his sip of tea. He had been called here to Tianjin by an associate of his in order to discuss certain issues. But until his companion arrived Weong simply enjoyed the view.

It seemed like just a short time ago that Weong was in Tianjin. At the end of the Chinese war. Back then the city had almost been entirely obliterated. Due to combined naval bomabardment as well as a massacare by the marines. Back then the city had been a smoking ruin but now it had almost entirely been rebuilt. Around him he could see new buildings to replace the destroyed ones or he saw buildings that had been renovated. Especially the dock had changed, almost entirely rebuilt as well as upgraded by new management.

As he looked around he saw that the city was flourishing under new rule. Right now Tianjing was one of the main ports recieving goods from the Japanese mainland. Mostly recieving bulk goods which would not be cost effective if transported by train.

Around him the Lieutenant General saw a combined populace of Chinese, Koreans and Japanese. Though that distinction was slowly becoming less apparent. Each of them worked hard at their job. Wheter that would be loading or unloading freighters or selling goods at shops accros the city. Weong had been to one of those shops just an hour ago. One of them had some really nice food. Bees dripped in honey and fried on a stick. Weong’s mouth watered as he remembered eating it. Now that had been delicious, quite sweet and generally enjoyable.

If Weong was to be honest Weong had a bit of a sweet tooth. He enjoyed sweet candy so the bees were right up his alley. And talking about alley’s there from an alley came his companion. As he came closer Weong could see the figure of the man approaching. That man was Matsumo Azumamura. Memeber of the Kempeitai and to an exent the messenger of the government to him. Though truthfully the two like to have philosophical debates and nice discussions with each other. They were quite entertaining and often a bright spot of Weong’s day.

A few seconds later Matsumo arrived and sat accros from Weong who greeted him enthusiastically. “Hello Matsumo, how are you doing, have any good news to bring ?” As he asked this Matsumo grimaced a little and Weong felt his heart drop. If Matsumo grimaced it meant either something bad or really uncomfortable. Often resulting in his men either dead or just generally annoyed. The former was of course worse than the latter but the latter option was still not nice. It really was annoying to have to deal with men who were discontent. Matsumo then spoke. “I am afraid not. The Government wants your division to remain on standby and has been assigned as the first response in case of crisis.” Matsumo said this matter of factly and quickly to get this over with bug Weong groaned.

Being given that duty was the fear of any division. It meant that for about 6 months your division had to be ready to move out in less than 4 hours and a single brigade in 30 minutes. This meant that it decreased the amount of time soldies could be on shore leave in order to remain able to quickly respond to any sudden threats. Furthermore, if a crisis/war occured it meant his division would take the brunt of the initial damage. It was generally just an annoying duty. So Weong asked with a resinged sigh partially/melodramatically looking into the air. “Why ?” To which Matsumo quickly responded. “The Government is planning a blockade of Vladivovstok. Since there is the possibility that the Soviets will respond violently to this one of the best division must remain on first response duty.

Weong groaned at this. Hearing the context he knew why he was given the duty but that did not mean he had to like it. Weong was about to ask why there was a blockade but Matsumo already responded. “The specific reason why is classified.  But I can say that it will be highly beneficial to the empire.” Weong always got frustrated it but that was the nature of Matsumo’s job. By being part of the Kempeitai most of what Matsumo did was classified. Hell, even in the Kempeitai itself there were layers of classified. Being designated by the tone in which the word classified was spoken. Right now Matsumo spoke of minor classified. Meaning that it was not that important but also not beneficial if word got out.

After letting out a sigh Weong then spoke. “
So is there any other annoying fact you need to inform me off or shall we start by discussing the implications of this.” Weong said pointing to the news aritcle before him. An article of the Pyeonyang Courier. Weong’s favorite news outlet. Matsumo shook at this and then the two men had an intense discussion. Discussing the merits of Tanoism and the new government that ruled Indonesia.

The tri-nation railway project continues. With the Japanese government continuing to sponsor the project and helping to provide the labor forces in order to unite the Empire and especially China together in this project. Helping to let the economy grow and to allow fast travel througout all of China. Making the administration of territories easier and forging closer economic ties between the three nations.

[MOD]

-As the year continues so does the expansion of ship building capacities. During this period 7 more shipyards are commisioned. Two in mainland Japan, two in Korea and three in occupied China. These shipyard are similairly to the other models intentioned to help build new ships as well as play a part in developing naval technology. [MOD]

In order to fulfill the deal with the Duma the ships that are not in need of repairs and those that are finished in repairs begin a blockade of Vladivostok. In order to cut supply of the Soviets short as well as stopping any escape from sea.  [MOD]

In order to gain more income and natural resources as well as helping to give the Indonesian government another source of income an investment is made into the Indonesian economy. To be specefic, an investment is made in the oil industry. Seeing that it has it’s uses and that it will help the reconstruction of the country with additional taxes the Japanese government invests in several oil refineries and oil fields. These are to primarily export oil to Japan so that the state can maintain it’s ships and other oil consuming products. [MOD]

Seeing the succes in Indonesia the size of the marines are tripled to 30k. With it being divided into two divisions.  These new marines are to be instructed by veteran marines and to train on the island of Taiwan. [MOD]

Because of the admirable service of Koreans during the Indonesian and Chinese wars a vote is started in the Diet of Japan. This vote is to allow any Korean citizen to enlist in the Japanese armed force. On the same level and requirement as any Japanese men. Furthermore, a vote is made to stop nearly all restrictions on Koreans and make them equal citizens in the empire. Having the same voting rights as the Japanese as well as the same rights in general. The Hellenic Kingdom of Greece

While the declaration of war still stands, and Greece is at war with both Serbia and Italy, conflict has yet to cross its borders. So for now, Greece putters onwards, and while soldiers train and factories chug out weaponry, many people have yet to feel as if they are truly at war. Apart from the families of those brave sailors lost in combat.

Mid-season, two cruisers, four submarines and three destroyers/minesweepers make their way out of Greek shipyards to rejoin the Hellenic Navy.

Actions

-The improvement on shipyards continues as one of the primary military-industrial focuses of the season. Using shared Greek and Austrian knowledge, the main designers hope to achieve five shipyards capable of finishing most ships below battleship level in under six months (and above in a year) before the end of this initial step of the process. (3 Turns Ongoing)

-Fortifications continue along the border as planned beforehand, as does the training of men using the new decentralized/standardized training procedures to increase training capacity and quality. Some of the most experienced soldiers who are no longer capable of serving on the front, and few of those who are are pulled back to central training hubs in various regions to instruct recruits. (2 Turns Ongoing)

-In an effort to continually stimulate national pride and the cultural enrichment of the Greek people, Prime Minister Eleftheros Savros passes a law imposing import quotas and tariffs on foreign cultural goods such as cinema, novels and music. While many foreign cultural goods will be allowed in, this move is meant to further allow the expansion and diversity of Greek cultural goods within the nation.

-Pro-national and post-Byzantine propaganda continue to propagate throughout the nation. However, Prime Minister Savros is very careful who he appoints as minister of culture, and his direct subordinates. He does not want hardline fascists, even if he does favor mild fascism/hard nationalism. Along with this, the people are often reminded of the imminent danger that the Ottoman Empire and Greater Serbia impose upon them. (3 Turns Ongoing)

-Submarine research continues, with the help of Austrian naval engineers. The objective is not only to catch up to the most modern of standards, but to eventually surpass them in all aspects. As such, this project remains at the forefront of military research in Greece. (3 Turns Ongoing)

-Construction of the Greek dreadnought continues. At the same time, five new submarines, three destroyers and one cruiser are laid down for construction within Greek shipyards. The submarine area is secured and well-guarded to prevent spying.

-Industrial expansion and general modernization of the state continue. Teachers tell their students of the glorious greek past and the Government carefully subsidizes schools in regions where it is more needed, in an attempt to improve the literacy of its people. At the same time new roads, railroads, factories and various other industries continue to be expanded upon. (3 Turns Ongoing)

-The Island of Corfu, already with an established fortress, is further reinforced with better artillery, better communication systems and better scouting methods to watch over the mouth of the Adriatic.

-Recruitment of a volunteer only army continues, though an attempt is made to moderate the amount to a sustainable level from an economic perspective. (Capping at 650k + 300k reserves for now)

-Trade continues through the Mediterranean for the Greeks.

Politics – Diplomacy

Prime Minister Eleftheros Savros is one of the first to congratulate the King on his recovery, and quickly aids him in re-appointing himself with the current events. In all ways, he acts as a personal advisor and close friend to the King. He gives him council, reports on events happening in the country, helps him write speeches… He spends much of his free time, and some of his occupied time helping the King, and advising him on matters of the state. In many ways, he acts as the channel between the King and the state. Is that not his job after all?

Upon Savros’ encouragement, the King visits the frontline defenses a few times throughout the season. He is taken in pictures often, and these pictures are circulated throughout the newspapers. Oftentimes, Konstantine of Epirus, one of the leading generals of the army walks with him, aiding the King’s weakened body along.

An embassy is sent to the USA and Romania, to increase awareness and relations.

IMPERIAL STATE OF AFFAIRS

Civilian Affairs

The loss of nearly the entire Expeditionary Army in Corsica due to the plague, shook the Empire’s ruling class to its core. Not only did it strengthen the war effort against, it also spread greater awareness of the ravenous plague. Quarantine zones are established throughout the Empire in locations with a high concentration of those infected and field hospitals are established to control the spread of disease. A state-run campaign is carried out, showing off the threat of the Dutch Flus and the ways to prevent catching it. Proper sanitary standard is now enforced in any positions directly related to the Government, while private civilian sectors are requested to follow suit.

The now dedicated fighter model airplane undergoes more design inventions and attempted improvements. The primary goal of such efforts is to construct an aircraft capable of tackling the high altitudes of the Alps. Dozens of prototypes classed as Aero A.18s are built in the industrial zones of Bohemia and shipped off to the Carpathians for testing and training. Increased fuel capacity, oxygen masks, firefighting equipment are just some of the many things worked into the prototypes.

Military Affairs

The Military undergoes a massive inspection of its troops as it attempts to clamp down on the spread of the Dutch Flu. Greater sanitary awareness is enforced throughout the ranks to ensure the risk of rising again does not occur. Soldiers displaying symptoms of the disease are rotated out of service and quarantined, replaced by those still healthy.

A notable portion of infantry can be seen reposition themselves from the Eastern borderlands of the Empire as they make their way to the heart of the conflict, in Italy.

The Falkenhayn plan is put into motion as another grand offensive into Italy commences. An operation in the millions of soldiers as they attempt to breach through the lightly fortified Italian ranks and march on Rome itself.

Continued efforts into the construction of the Ersatz-class Dreadnoughts continue in the Port of Rijeka since they had to be relocated due to the Sale of Trieste to the Italian Nation a few years back. Four new modern dreadnoughts will sail the seas within a years time, should the construction efforts continue smoothly. A higher concentration of military vessels patrol around the Croation Isles near Rijeka, ready to lay waste to any Italian Ships that may dare sail near.

The besieged City of Trieste is issued an offer for surrender. It would be spared the destruction that war brings with it and would find with a far greater range of autonomy should they submit to the United Kingdom’s Will, as they would be reverted back into the status of an Imperial Free City.

Foreign Affairs

The declarations of war issued onto the Austrian ally, Greece, troubled some within the Empire - many felt honorbound to defend the Hellenic people, but the more sensible aristocrats saw the opportunity to knock out the Italian Threat alone. The Greeks would have to handle their own, but Austria would supply them with the battered expeditionary army fleeing Corsica as the fleet stations itself around the Island of Corfu off of the western Greek coast.

Kaiserreich

1200px-Flag_of_the_German_Empire.svg.png

The German Empire had manned it’s border under against the threat of a warlike Austria, brave and courageous german men prepared for what may come, what was to come once again. War.

Germany was not without its problems, mostly these stemmed from the disease that had struck much of the world. But it suffered knowing it was defending itself and those that could not themselves such as the Dutch Republic, whom in thanks to German Intervention had sent the Brazilian War Fleets out of European waters. A titan Germany was, but a responsibility to the smaller nations in its reach it did have.

The Navy was becoming more and more powerful by the year, Chancellor Tirpitz being the navy man he was ensured it would continue to grow. A strong navy was the only sure way to defend its interests away from home.

But on the inside, a an infectious rotten sin had been allowed to fester. One that he could no longer tolerate the possible existence of so he had no choice but to seek the answers himself.

Who killed the King, whomever it was must pay the price for such an atrocity. If it was the French, or the Socialist then they have paid the price in blood..but if..if the rumors were true and it was a fellow german, then god have mercy on his soul. Because the Empire would not.

-The Naval Bill of 1919 begin, and the Royal Navy begins to decommission the 50 pre-dreadnoughts still in service. The process is done deliberately slowly, to allow new ships to be built in their place. 8 Revenge-class Dreadnoughts and 4 Queen Anne-class Dreadnoughts are the first ships produced to replace the pre-dreadnoughts. In addition, the Royal Navy announce the brand new Britannia-class Dreadnought, and 5 are laid down in 1919. The new Britannia-class:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/N3-class_battleship

-The Colonial Rearmament Bill of 1919 is also announced, and the British Raj, and the Dominions of South Africa, Australia and New Zealand begin active campaigns to expand their militaries. In South Africa, an army of 40’000 mounted infantry is planned, capable of moving quickly and efficiently across the African Veld. In addition, a further 200’000 natives are recruited into Native Colonial Divisions. In addition, the British Raj expands the British Indian Army from 500’000 men, to 600’000 men. The ANZACs are once again established, with 100’000 men being the target for active forces.

-A Naval Reform Committee is sent to the Russian Union, headed up by Admiral Jackie Fisher and consisting of prominent officers, engineers and designers from within the Royal Navy. In addition, all member states of the Russian Union are guaranteed a discount in British Shipyards.

-The Gibraltar Garrison is once again reinstated in full force, and a new Mediterranean Squadron once again sets sail for Gibraltar, remilitarising the Med. 3 dreadnoughts, accompanied by 2 battlecruisers, 10 heavy cruisers, 6 light cruisers and 24 destroyers make their base at the Rock.

1919 (Later Months)

The Dutch Flu has been running rampant for over a year now. Over 40 million now have died, in increasingly dire waves. The Flu seems to evolve and mutate with each passing. Meaning treatments may be able to cure the earlier strains. But with it growing so fast, scientist and doctors are hard pressed to keep up.

World Trade and Globalization are also taking a massive blow. Europe is warring itself into the brink. Their colonies are increasingly more defiant, trade is threatened, and monarchs and aristocrats strive to maintain rule. The ripple effects is hitting the entire world, all this war and disease making it seem like an apocalypse was here in some tabloids.

Perhaps not keen to participate in Global politics, the 2nd Internationale had still been busy. Core members like Sweden, Jaures Socialist French party, Argentina, Mexico, China, and groups within states abroad were supporting each other. Besides their wars for independence, the 2nd Int. had preached peace and reform. States such as Argentina and Sweden were seeing the benefits of that. The Int. Brigades had even managed to respond to the Mexican Renegade federal army, executing their ringleaders.

It was a ripe ground for Trotsky to re emerge as a primary member. He had been busy actually fighting. Leading the Internationale Brigades, he had commanded and seen action in a few theaters. Winning their loyalty, and many members, Trotsky was seen as a founder. Due to severe inactivity and failure to meet revolution demands, the 2nd International council is dissolved. In its place a new advisory board of delegates from each member state will form a council of equals.

In Argentina the wealth and military power of the organization were at the apex. There the Socialist ruled uncontested. Brazil had always been a target, Socialist counter revolutions in Brazil and abroad opposing their Empire. Argentina begins to supply the Socialist, and many members move into the country to work. Brazilian elections are pressured, and campaigns begin. The Socialist run on a Republic, and ending aggression front. They wanted to return seized French/Dutch land, and demobilize the navy.

750px-Soviet_coat_of_arms.svg.png

In Indonesia peace under Japanese patronage is reached. Elections are held, and are kept peaceful, Perhaps by Japanese presence. A Tanoist majority and president form in the new Republic. But they have strong opposition. A growing Islamic front had plenty of seats. There was also a smaller broad coalition of farther left wingers.

The combined Indochinese irregular armies are sorely pressed by China’s Republic Army. Large amounts of veterans and local units contest the cities and supply routes in Northern Indochina. By pure mathematics and numbers the Chinese student councils and warlords were grinding their foe down.

Spain helps her French Socialist allies end the Bonaparte regime. Her armies withdraw from southern France, but maintain favorable positions in the Pyrenees, and what African land they had taken.

group.jpg

In Armenia Ottomans were wholesale slaughtering Armenian families. Many capitalist nations condemn them, and lessen oil trade. Business starts to go elsewhere as the Radical Turks contest their Government, by showing blatant defiance. Perhaps the C.P.U had finally grown claws again.

The Corsican War continues in all it’s bloody glory. It is of the old way, with rifle lines and large formations. Thousands are dying.

The next United States elections will be hotly contested. The establishment Republican and Democrat parties were losing support bases.

[Relative] Peace in France! Conceding defeat, Napoleon V flees the country. His royalist cause collapses, mostly reluctantly accepting the Republic’s terms. Some more militant fascist persecute the war as rebel cells in now occupied land. The army can finally celebrate, and rest for now.

France itself is in a die situation. Most of her colonies have been lost, and she has massive debts from so much war and deficit. Maintaining a modern army, navy, air force, and domestic industry was taxing her greatly. The cost of the war will come to haunt the new Republic.

However peace has been achieved. Perhaps France will recover. But debt, war damage, and primarily plague litter France. With elections coming up, the French State was on the brink, like many other nations now.

germanarmy.jpg

Ireland

The Irish army begins training to phase in the German equipment. Irish soldiers in Stahlems however were ridiculed, and even murdered. Many Irish had served against the Germans, and were disgusted to see their new army parading around in them. Others out of loyalty to the British. Regardless many Irish replace their stahlhelms for adapted British and French models.

Over the past four years Irish industry thanks to British help has been expanding. Ireland’s industry though not large or fully modern is efficient. Ireland is beginning to shift to exporting her excess manufactured goods.

Plans to lay new ships begin, as the funds and resources begin to be acquired.

The first graduated class of the 4 year lone Gaelic Revival enters the work force. Many of them are fully fluent in gaelic, and can even write it. The Government who does support this and a wave of artists, poets, and others begin to see a renaissance.

Japan

The Tri-Nation Rail Line continues to be laid. It is almost done, but in it’s infantile stages. It is only a small gauge rail line, connecting the major cities in Korea, Coastal China, and some further inland. It’ll need more work to be a fully fleshed modern rail line.

Japan shipyards begin to grow in more places. They will be complete in 9 months.

The Japanese Fleet steams into a battle with the Soviet navy!

Japanese assets and stakes in the Oil business in Indonesia see increased wealth. In tandem with the Tanoist they begin to revitalize the economy by exporting/refining raw resources.

The Marine Corp grows! It is soon becoming a highly sought after position. After being laughed at for so long, the tables have turned.

In a truly monumental moment, the Korean bill is fully passed. The Diet had recently allowed more voters, and it was showing. Japan and her asian sisters were shaking off Imperial grips.

Greece

Shipyard improvement continues as planned!

The Greek army hardens under its experienced NCOs, as they all dig in.

Perhaps a bold move with the growing British dominance in domestic markets, Greece culture and industry get some breathing room to grow.

The Greek cabinet in power continues to walk the tightrope ,not falling. Byzantine influence on the greeks is a growing trend in most fascist and right wing parties. They see it as a need to fulfill for the master hellenic race.

Greece’s first offensive deep water sub prototype will debut in December.

Progress on the navy continues, but Greece's rising bill of army, forts, and ships alongside domestic reform is adding a growing deficit to the budget. Pretty soon it would outpace her GDP and lead to debt if kept on track.

The army was not able to reach 1 million volunteers. They can only roughly amass six hundred thousand total.

Ottoman Empire

Baku restoration will be complete by [next turn]

And so another mighty empire declares war on little Greece.

More and more the Turks were losing their grip on power as the Sultan and ruling cabinet allowed many different ethnicities under the muslim umbrella to have rights and rule.

Arab/Mesopotamia plans continue.

Persia accepts an alliance of defensive nature with the Ottomans, not wishing to get involved with the Greek wars.

Austrian ships prevent the Ottoman ships from fleeing to home ports. They are bottled up, and mostly not fitted with guns or armor.

Greek and Ottoman ships begin to skirmish in the Aegean, both trying to maintain their supply routes.

Austria

Reforms begin to help ease and possibly prevent the Dutch Flu. But it is still running rampant across the world, killing millions.

Work begins to better suit the plane for mountain combat, and over all.

Perhaps just feeding more healthy bodies to the flu, moving men doesn't seem to affect it. Many carry the disease for days before it becomes active.

The Army and Navy continue to fight on. The dreadnoughts are delayed, the Italians wrecking Austrian ports and production.

Trieste finally surrenders.

Germany

The German tanks make their debut!

Soon Germany will be producing her first official line of aircraft carriers. Thought not taken very seriously, it is still a growing project.

Next [turn] Germany’s first dedicate bomber will debut.

The investigation reveals shocking leads. Several Socialist defectors in France report rumors of the French Socialist being the ones to kill the King of Bavaria.

This would implicate Socialist worked in tandem to do this, but the Kaiser also knew after the matter when he made his deal perhaps.

Bonaparte France

Military and Work reforms continue, however little is left of the cause.

In a spur of the moment Napoleon does not kill himself. Instead he escapes by unknown means, into a new life.

Poland

Campaigns at this point of so long have reached an apex. In every square parties advocated for themselves. It was the current majority Socialist and minority

Nationalist were Poland’s two stars.

4 Year Plan Continues!

The Army Reforms Continue as Planned.

The first Polish car line with some help from the illustrious Henry Ford rolls out. Many besides the elite can’t afford it, or don’t want it. However it is progress.

Russia

The Right Wing Coalition was gaining plenty of support in the cities, army, and further flung provinces of Russia. They had the most funding and public support. But the Socialist still seemed to have a decent power bloc. Ironically both they and the Nationalist Front were preaching for the working man and democratic governance.

The F.S.S continues their plans.

The Russian Agents begin to try and root out the communist defectors. However short of razing villages or harsh interrogations, it is hard o track them down.

There are millions of displaced citizens, few with papers or documents. However when they do take prisoners caught in battle, they begin to find leads.

Many Caucasian orphans are aware of how they were made so. Many older ones reject the Russians, and run away from the schools and villages.

Trying to imitate a British Queen Anne class Dreadnought even with British help was an extreme task. Russia needed to update her inventory and shipyards just to build modern rate Dreadnoughts, let alone the top tier of current dreadnoughts.

More and more village schools pop up, educating the rural populace.

These expensive road projects only begin in small parts. It had little tactical value, with many cars only being for the rich who drove through cities and to close by estates.

Russia begins to send out workers to learn of the marvels of American car industry.

The Bombers can only carry so much supplies, but help somewhat. The Russians continue to secure their supply routes against increasing numbers of soviets.

Great Britain

Naval decommission and expansion will go as planned. However more time is required to properly design the newest dreadnought model, gather the production needed for it from other ships, and get the skilled work.

Britains colonies begin to rearm and organize into larger armies. In Africa this scares many other African powers. As per the congo treaty African colonial war was supposed to be non existent, and had largergly been so during the war.

The delegation is sent to Russia. However many Baldwinians and more conservative Brits were opposed. Even if Russia was an ally, they did not want Britain to be spending needed funds on a foreign state that could then use the ships to project their own power. They begin to undermine the notion in parliament.

Though Spain vehemently opposes the British blatantly violating their Great War treaty, they can do little but allow it. It does prompt politcal backlash though not much. Plenty of lesser nations had broken their oaths long ago. Britain had simply slunk to their level.

French Republic

Charles campaign continues. Election results [next turn]

French tanks are expensive, so for now France works on improving her current model.

The new helmet is passed and begins production.

Dutch Flu runs rampant.

The French nation begins the painful process of rebuilding. Many now out of work soilders take up the jobs however. France must begin paying her debts if she wishes to acquire enough foreign capital to fuel her army reforms and research, and repair the war torn nation.

Though Napoleon was an original fan of the Grand Armee title, making it very ironic, the notion is passed.

In Limerick for some time a general strike known as the “Limerick Soviet” is called by the Limerick Trades and Labour Council. The soviet ran the city for the period, printed its own money and organised the local supply of food. The strike was called in response to working conditions and treatment of workers. Many communists partook in this strike. It was ended when the military and the police came in and took back control. Many communists after this that were involved were executed.

Status of the United Kingdoms of Greater Austria:

Total War Mobilization | 6 million men mobilized.

Economy in continued total war production mode.

See Global Naval Census Documents for Austrian Navy Count.

IMPERIAL STATE OF AFFAIRS

Civilian Affairs

Continued sanitary efforts proceed to contain the Dutch Flu. The chase for a vaccine proved fruitless, so instead, the medical corps of the Empire continue the improvement of centers of health. Hospitals, clinics, and field-stations undergo continuous reforms from earlier in the year, working primarily on the separation of patients, cleanliness, and hygiene awareness. At this point, the Empire has nearly lost over 300k to the Flu, extreme care and attention was prevalent throughout the health sectors, bordering on paranoia.

The German Tanks rolling over the Bohemian Front shocked the Austrian Command - rumors were had, but no distinct evidence was given as to what these machines really are. The Anti-Vehicle project is resumed, aimed at the development of counter-tactics and anti-tank weaponry.

The Military Storages of Trieste are plundered under orders of the Imperial Army Banners, relocated elsewhere to further fuel the war efforts while the citizens of Trieste themselves are welcomed back with open arms into the Empire. The groundworks to establishing Trieste as an autonomous Imperial Free-City, beholden only to the Emperor himself are taken care of as they are eased back into the Empire.

The Empire undergoes air raid drills in locations most affected by such actions. Structures are designated for safe-holds while hastily established anti-air defenses begin to retaliate. An in depth investigation into the matters of sophisticated anti-air weapons is taken.

Military Affairs

The entire eastern border is devoid of any signs of massive bodies of Infantry, only policemen remain to ensure the status of the border. Military Investigators would be able to detect the presence of nearly 6 Million Soldiers on the Western Front against the Germans, Italians, and the Serbians.

As the statistics came pouring in, the Austrian High Command noticed the need to change Infantry Doctrines - Mass Infantry Assaults proved tumultuous, yet effective at times, but Trench Warfare proved even more so detrimental. As such, the Army undergoes a reform from the bottom up in order to improve matters as the war stalls during the Winter. Small squad based tactics are imposed, in alignment with platoon movements, and finish off with battalion maneuvers on the greater scale. Each man with a squad is given a specific purpose, while each squad is given a task within their platoon, which then fortifies the strength of the overall battalion in a cohesive, efficient, Austrian fighting machine.

Convoys of Logistics Vehicles rush along to the frontlines as they provide the Infantry with the necessary materials for winter combat. From clothing, to building tools and materials, they begin the fortification of the entire frontline. Alongside the Convoys, Logistics Surveyors are sent out on mass to accurately describe the supplies situation for the frontline.

Coastal Defenses begin construction in locations most in need of it. The 14in guns of the in construction Ersatz-Monarch Class Dreadnoughts are repurposed for the defense of the coastlines most ravaged by naval raids as the construction of these ships are proven to be impossible due to the constant raids.

Foreign Affairs

Austrian Operators infiltrate into the Kingdom of Bavaria through the Swiss-German Border. Their objective is to set up a foundation for further operations within the region, and to get in touch with the King himself while keeping their presence unknown to the German High Command.

Imperial Diplomats attempt to garner the attention of the Russian Union, hoping to strike out a deal with the Capitalists.

IMPERIAL ACTIONS

Continuing to contain the Dutch Flu. No more attempts to develop a cure.

Development of anti-armor tactics and anti-tank weapons.

Trieste Naval Yards plundered. Trieste becomes an Imperial Free-City.

Air-Raid Drills become a norm. Anti-Air, specifically Anti-Zeppelin weaponry, is looked into.

Stationing all able-bodied men onto the western front.

Infantry Reformation. Improved Infantry Assault Doctrines emplaced. Modernizing tactics pass the era of the Great War Combat.

Imperial Logistics adequately preparing for Winter. Supplies being surveyed to ensure the status of logistics.

Coastal Defence Scheme initiated.

Player Interactment.

Peace at Last!

After many grueling years of civil war, turmoil, and strife, the French Civil war was finally over! Following the complete collapse of the Bonaparte forces, the Grande Armee quickly moved into the region.  The promises of the terms were being carried out in every regard. French soldiers moved quickly through the urban and rural population centers alike, aiding those in need and helping whomever might need it. Only days after collapse at the front, Charles Faucheux’s ‘Vulcan Corps’ Enters Brest in ceremonial fashion. Pictures are snapped, the event is published across France and abroad. It was not only symbolic, but literal. The Royalist cause was defeated, France was once more united. Even the farthest corners of their cause had fallen.

On the political scene, former Bonapartists were welcomed with open arms back into the National Assembly. Photographs of the now whole assembly circulate France. The message was clear. Any divide left from the civil war would not be tolerated! The Nation was once more whole.

The Reconstruction

The scars of the Great War as well as the French Civil War ran deep. Much of France lay in ruins. Entire cities had been reduced to rubble and ash, vast plains malformed into an array of trench systems. The manpower, economy, and pride of France had evaporated in less than half of a decade. Her colonies left to the vultures. Thousands had been displaced, even more suffered from rapmant Dutch flu. The government looked on the situation with a face of shame and despair.

To solve this crisis, programs founded in the previous months receive huge amounts of funding. A large portion of the capital coming directly from France’s allies over the channel and across the continent. Furthermore, initiatives to treat and help those affected by Dutch flu also given more funding.

The programs would be focused on several things. Employing the help of the French Pioneer Corps to lessen the cost, the programs would rebuild infrastructure, population centers, old trench networks, and industrial centers.

After years of fighting, it was all finally over, hundreds of thousands of men fought, were wounded, or lost their life for the great nation of France. Every man has done his country a great service. However they were no longer needed. Following the conclusion of the French Civil War, yet another massive demobilization program is enacted. The Grand Armee currently one and a half a million men strong is downsized threefold to a size of only 600,000 men in addition to the logistics corps, and the air force.

Never Again!

With the conclusion of the French Civil War, G.Q.G launched a complete evaluation on French military performance in the previous conflicts. This brought up many horrendous points. During the Great War, the French Army had performed abominably. Furthermore, the constant deadlock of Trench Warfare caused immeasurable loss of life and equipment during both conflicts.

The nation of France had been humiliated! Her colonial possessions had largely been stripped from her. Her homeland was laid to waste, almost 100% of the fighting took place on French soil. This was an embarrassment that would never be allowed to happen again.

In late June, G.Q.G in coordination with the French Government announces an ambitious plan to advance the French armed forces far past the standard of european armies. To spur the rebuilding of the French Industrial sector, French companies specifically in the automobile and aircraft industries are given large contracts to develop state of the art vehicles and planes for use by the French armed forces.

The Empire of Japan

Naval_Ensign_of_Japan.svg

If small holes aren’t fixed, then big holes wil bring hardship.

Chaos reigned througout the world. It had been said in the early days of the first world war that it would be the war to end all wars. But they had been wrong. It was only the trigger for much more war. Civil war, European wars, wars for Independence. In this day and age they were plenty. To it’s North Japan had to worry about the Soviets. Whilst unlikely to attack they had large numbers of troops and support of the Internationale.

To it’s West was China. A friendly state in these times but if relations were to sour a great and powerful enemy. To it’s South were Germany’s possesions in Asia with it’s Far-Eastern fleet. And at the same time plague swept accros the world. With it global trade and the economy suffered. Thus seeing the possibility of world trade stopping and the economy collapsing the Japanese government puts a plan in place to slowly isolate itself from the world economy. Begging to limit it’s trade powers and making sure the economy could grow more stable and would not be threatened by economic collapse.
Thus over the course of the coming two years the Japanese economy was set to isolate itself. Relying on it’s domestic products and those of it’s allies. This would cause it’s allies to grow richer but the Japanese economy to shrink a bit. However, the Japanese Diet has determined that the risk posed by an economic collapse is worse than temporarily losing some income.

Furthermore, the navy of the empire expands. In order to prepare for the possibility of confrontation with the German navy in Asia and in order to properly patrol Far-East Asian waters.

---------
This amongst other things was on the mind of prince-regent Hirohito. The person who could be considered the most powerful person in all of Asia. Or at least the head of the most powerful nation in Asia. That is if you discounted Russia, which had significant Asian possesions. In any case. The Prince-Regent sat in his parlor reading reports. Mostly regarding to the naval production of the nation as well as the tri-nation railline. Honestly, if he had known how much bureucracy would be needed to make a railine that connected three nations together he might have consisdered not makin it.

Amongst other issues were, the laws in each country, the different types of rails and trains used by the three different countries as well as aquiring the land to build the railroad on. However, it was starting to show progress. It was in it’s final stages and the basic raillines had already been laid. Now all that was left to be done was putting the finishing touching on the project. Mass-producing a certain type of train and finishing the rail.

Hirohito took a single moment to lay back in his chair and look around the room. His job as prince-regent was tiring.  He was essentially the ruler of Japan and had to do adminstration, ceremony attend and be informed about important debates and political gathering. As well as entertaining foreign delegations. All in all it was a hard job. Even though he was thoroughly prepared for it, it still put stress on him.

Then he took a moment to look accros his room looking at all the different folders. The folders, some of them were the most classified documents in the empire. Even a normal citizen having possesion of them could mean immediate execution or banishment to a small island where they would be island. But they were so important, they detailed different plans, eventualties and ways to respond to crisises.

As he thought of them he could not help but look to a certain folder. One with a big red [REDACTED] on it and which prepared for a horrible eventuality. He hoped he would never have to use it but depending on the circumstances he might have to. However, for now there was luckily no war which neccesitated it’s execution.

Then someone knocked on the door. Responding to this Hirohito straightened his back and said. “Come in”

Then a man walked in.

[RP to be continued later ?]

Actions

In order to make sure that the Japanese economy is safe in case of an economic collapse due to famine and disease the Japanese government opts to enact an economic model that is more isolationist in nature. Limiting trade to it’s direct allies in Asia and some others (Manchuria, Socialist China, Indonesia, Brazil. The hope is that if the market collapses under the strain of the plague Japan will be less effected. Furthermore there is a chance that this might result in less infections by the Dutch Flu. [MOD]

Observers are sent to the United Kingdoms and Greece in order to, well... observe the war there. Making notes of the tactics used there and applying it to the Japanese army. [MOD]

With the observations made during the Great War as well as the European war the empire sees the need for a dedicated air force. Thus the prince-regent decrees the formation of the Imperial Airforce. This basic airforce is to base their efforts on British and Russian planes in design. Whilst they also begin to research if these planes can be converted into naval bomers. Dedicated to taking down enemy ships. [MOD]

Work is put into finishing the Tri-Nation railline. Ensuring that it can connect all three nations together and allow for more economic growth and the capacity to tranpsort more materials. [MOD]

In order to swiften the war for China and to ultimately cause less casualties Japanese military experts are sent to Indochina. They are to help instruct the Chinese soldiers and give tactical and strategic lessons to Chinese officers. [MOD]

Furthermore, with Britain unofficially ceding the duty of patrolling far-east Asia to Japan the empire proceeds to expand it’s navy. In Britain it commisions one dreadnought and one battlecruiser to be built in the Clyde Shipyards in Britain for one year..
Back in Asia  a two year plan to expand the navy begins. This plan includes the building of (4 battlecruisers, 7 armored cruisers,  13 light cruisers and 20 destroyers) possibly more depending on the ship production capabilities of the empire. [MOD]
