The Necessity of Dwarven Unity

As penned by Fili Grandaxe

KxUWyASixjm_Xmoh8N8bjOIBhWcZ9C8ZA27WDhLyoTSjlqaoP-h_GmDZLkwfICOa5doPm9ovNzPlXWjcHukhCCnjzYmQsYOO4AULrde_b1DS5BTwk6Bai-FuNFzykT1m-w0Oi5b4

When Yemekar forged the world, he created four races. The gifts granted to all of the lesser descendents appealed to their vanity; immortality, deep pride and stubborn anger, and a promise of conquest. But to the Dwarves, he granted fraternity, strong hearts, and strong minds. All other descendents were cursed from the beginning to make war on each other and themselves, to constantly burn and tear themselves down, only to be rebuilt in a new image. The Dwarves however, were never meant to be seperated. It was our gift to be united and strong, the guardians and stewards of the world.

Our disunity is of our own creation. We are factionalized groups of Dwarves all vying for our own power and interest, and appealing to our greed instead of our conscience has damned us all. In the past we believed that if the Dwarves were ever destroyed it would be by Human conquest or Aengu-Daemonic treachery, but we were wrong. Our gift could never allow for such external pressures to break the mighty Dwarven civilization. Instead, the sole power great enough to destroy us lay in ourselves, in our own greed and corruption, cursed by Khorvad’s vengeful wrath and anger that has permeated so deeply into our lives.

And now that the once mighty Dwarves are hung low, our enemies mobilize against us, daring to commit atrocities and crimes against our people that less than a century ago would never have gone unanswered, but today are ignored.

Let us not be naive as children, no matter your pride and stubbornness, your logic must display to you clearly that the Dwarves today are not strong, not strong enough to stand against the treachery and lies formuted over infinite lifetimes by the Elgus, nor the brash assaults and terror brought upon by the raging barbarians of the Orkos, nor least especially the driving thirst for blood and conquest perpetrated by the Umros which has already begun to emerge in our weakness. Our enemies play us against each other, exploiting our disunity and forcing us ever closer to the destruction of the Dwarven race.

Our grudges run deep. Great crimes and dishonor have been perpetrated by all sides of our great conflict. In order for us to move forward and advance as a race, these grudges must be settled. No terms, no conditions, no trials or payments or blood. No side believes they are wrong, so no side will submit to such humiliations. If unity shall be achieved, first a blanket white peace must be declared and agreed upon by all of Dwarvenkind.

Once we have peace, the process of reconciliation can begin in earnest. For the remainder of our time in the land of Atlas we must remain autonomous of each other, bound instead by a loose alliance of defense so that we may protect ourselves from our enemies. When we journey forth once more in our search for a new colony, then the Dwarven people may truly reform and reunite.

This idea of unity is written with no ill-will, I do not suggest any traps or trickery, it is a mere matter of truth. If the Dwarves remain divided we will only grow weaker and weaker, until eventually we are consumed by an outside force and destroyed forever. It is a necessity akin to breathing that Dwed-kind be united, and the longer we remain apart the closer we come to asphyxiation. I shall leave you all with the words of a paragon, may this bit of wisdom resonate with you all, my brothers.

“What history teaches us is that the eight sons of Urguan were all brothers and only when they treated each other as unlike their own selves, did they stand truly divided. The day that we forsake unity for petty rivalries and greed is the day we fall. I end this book with only words that I wish for all dwarves to one day heed. Stand as one and we are capable of achieving any length of greatness. Stand alone however and we will die alone.”

-Paragon Valen Grandaxe

Morug scratches his beard in bewilderment, "Who is there te 'unify' with exactleh? Teh vast majoriteh of dwed are citizens of Ulrah. Teh few who arents decided te go make their own settlement, which they are free te do and explore their own way of life. If ye truly wanted uniteh u'd just join Ulrah and find yer place among their kin. This is nay about unity, this is about regaining yer control and yer powah ovah dwed. Humanity is not eh threat. Et was made eh threat when ye whispered inte Edel's ear and 'ad 'im make hostile moves against Renatus. Ulrah is doing great and weh are prospering as eh kin. Weh do not need te unify with ye few random dwed who are te spiteful te rejoin yer kin. Stop trying te impose yerself on othas and try te make something fer yerself. This lazyness of yers is contributing te yer obesity, Fili."

Oi 'ear ye were king before in t'e Kingdom of Urguan long toime ago. Oi t'ink it's toime for you to become t'e king again and unite t'e dwed and become stronk agien. Thumril would enter the dessert in finding his old gear that he once buried.

"True, there are Dwarves in Ulrah, but not as maneh as dere were a few months ago, n' in a few months, dere will be even less. Deh dwarves continue to splinter with each passing month, n' it will keep going dat way until we reunify. Edel was a coward for allowing the humans to take his beard, n' yeh surely must know that they will not stop with Daeland. Renatus will continue expanding. If Edel had not ceded deh land, yeh would be at war right now, yet dat was deh very reason you removed him. Renatus is a growing threat, one that will come for Ulrah again"

"Dwarven unity is a manipulative buzz-word used by those who, not only a few years ago, were preaching the restoration of Urguan built on the bones and maimed flesh of Kaz'Ulran dwarves. When you feel like you can defeat Kaz'Ulrah, you preach how terrible, bad and evil we are. When you feel like you cannot defeat Kaz'Ulrah, you lick boots, speak words of 'unity' and keep a false smile expecting Dwarves to forget your actions. You are a liar, a dishonourable runt, something far beneath a dwarf, beneath a Ratiki and beneath even the yeast making our ale go bad."

Koralon commented simply.

"Fili only speaks the truth, and what you say Urguan was is completely false information. Hiding behind lies isn't gonna achieve anything, Koralon. Urguan did nothing towards Ulrah as they provided you land to build a place within Urguan, yet your people decided to go to WAR against fellow dwarves starting the second or third Frostbeard rebellion. Fili isn't a liar, dishonorable, and the rest of the things you said. The most DISHONORABLE thing that has come upon the dwarves is Ulrah declaring WAR on fellow dwarves KILLING fellow dwed. Fili only wishes unification and to stop the onslaught within our race."

Agnar would correct.

[I assume with any forum rp where people are literally talking about conversations, idk, i'll act as if present. feel free to absorb as you will.]

"Sooner or later, you will all kill eachother to extinction, Dwedfolk; provided this continues, your prideful grudges and damnable attempts at upping th' other through th' arse."

He paused, resting his almain together over his waist.

"And the rest of the world will watch the cycle begin with placid faces and weary smiles, forsooth the politic of the Dwed are long and drawn deep of blood and rot- alas, under an Ulran banner or that of Old Urguan, neither will succeed where the other infinitely fails- for unto you-"

He simply gestures at Koralon.

"Your reign was unfortunately short, regardless of the foolishness of your kin leading to the death of many, orc human or elvenesse- it is what many could consider 'prosperous'- regardless of what deeds were incurred by your dwarven bannermen."

Gestures unto the assumed Grandaxe, no grandeur nor any form of Elven grace.

"Those of Ancient and Graced Urguan lived their ages with their hands bloodied with elven and human ichor alike, alas, it were a long and prosperous reign and one that attempts to persevere unto present day.

Paused, finally bringing his hands together.

"One thing is for certain, however, the one thing both the Imperious Urguan and the assumed upstarts of Ulrah-- your reigns were upon foundation of the slaying of your kin and murder of your allied brothers and sisters. Think on this, for it seems the security of your Cold Thrones is more important to you, than the long, prosperous halls of your little ones."

"Agnar. Did the goat you were ramming moan too much, or did you honestly believe I was referring to the Urguan where I was Forgemaster and wife to the Grand King? Naturally, I was meaning their Elder Alliance."

"More lies is just explaining on you are. If you were a wife to a Grand King then you should be wanting unification not spitting at it."

Agnar sighs
