King Marcus Orentius. 4E.

The war reclaiming of land had gone off without a hitch, and no men were lost, yet there was more to be done. The Imperial City is the next target for conquest. While in Falkreath planning the inevitable invasion, Marcus had received a letter of devastating magnitude. His second born son Tiber named after the great conqueror Tiber Septim, had been poisoned. This was a blow to Marcus more powerful than any weapon in all of Tamriel could have delivered. He soon found himself praying twice more everyday, and was reduced to sobbing at the very thought of one of his newborn no longer being able to rest in his arms. Immediately the guards are ordered to storm every bedroom in the keep, and castle Kvatch. Thank the Divines his first born wasn't harmed but he could be next. To assure his only remaining sons safety, a guard of the most strong, and constituted men is to be made. All of which would be Colovian, and all would have to pass the trials and tribulations to become one of the few tasked with the royal families protection. Marcus needed to know for sure his troops will be combat ready, and ready to die for their families and King. The final matter at hand would be the welfare of the people, roads are to be replaced and repaired and maintenanced along with a festival to raise the spirits of the Kingdoms citizens. Nothing else of note takes the Kings attention.

Diplomacy

The Imperial City will bend the knee and surrender the beloved city, or burn and be rebuilt.

The Rift

With the peaceful transition into the Rift, there is now the business of training an army capable of protecting its home. More archers and infantry would be needed.

With the interest of rebuilding the once vaste trading power of the Rift, riders are sent to the cities of Stormhold, Bruma and Chorral bringing building plans and resources to construct the guild halls.

As for Carsten he will spend the majority of the year training with Ragnar in fort Dawnguard, returning home during anytime off he had from his travels.

The King looked at the envoy curiously, then spoke in reply. After this meeting, whatever way it went, the King would look to his armies, while he had overhauled the structure of his legions, it had been long since he had recruited another and considering the aggressiveness of his Argonian neighbour and the rising power of Colovia to the west  there was need for more legions.

Henceforth, he decreed, the Third Legion of Cheydinhal would be raised, at the same strength of all the rest. This endeavour would not be easy, but after securing trade deals and their new lands funds were found. The army was also drilled in the fashion of the old great Legions of Cyrodil. With an emphasis on discipline and line formations.

Meanwhile a letter was sent to Leyawiin with an interesting proposal, none knew the contents but the King and his privy councillors. The king would send the First Legion to occupy four of the Republic of the Heartlands eastern provinces, no word of the meeting between the King and the envoys would be spoken of. Gnaeus himself attended to the drilling of his new legion.

The Kingdom of Rihad

TcyIsrl.jpg

Haserick sat in his throne room. Pondering the reports he got. The 1st army was organised and ready for battle. Consisting of large amount of elite troops and being very disciplined. As he looked at the map his eyes again caught the Duchy of Skaven. Now it was divided. It’s troops in the north with a large territory to protect. Haserick knew that if there was ever a time to go to war it would be now. Inside his head a furious debate raged. Should he wait another year to prepare or attack now. Annexing it and freeing the Redguard from Imperial opression. This debate raged as Haserick went to bed.

When he woke up Haserick was sure of what to do. He called all of his military commanders and advisors to the war room. Where, once everyone was assembled, he spoke. “
The Imperial Confederacy is dead the Orisimer are mostly defeated and Skaven stands alone. Now my fellow Redguards, is the time to free our people. This fortnight a messenger will go to the lord of Skaven delivering our formal decleration of war. Whilst the messenger heads to the lord of Skaven our armies will prepare.

The messenger will arrive in roughly 3 days. At which point we will march towards the capital of Skaven. Forcing the army of Skaven to head South and be crushed.

Haserick then began explaining his plan to the assembled lords and ladies of the kingdom.

Army:

Cavalry:

4000 mounted palace guards, 2500 light cavalry

Infantry:

10k palace guards, 5000 skirmishers

Total troops: 22,7k

Defensive forces

Cavalry:

500 mounted palace guard

500 light cavalry

Infantry:

1000 archers, 0 mages

Total troops: 5k

Military:

Recruitment:

10 catapults (4k)

100 mages (4k)

2k palace guard (5k)

1k mounted palace guards (5k)

Total: 18k

1k gold is spend equiping Haserick with Ebony armor. As well as a bastard sword made of ebony. This is to make Haserick a beast to fight in combat. With any leftover money being put into training Haserick further in combat.

4k gold is spent equipping 50 of Haserick’s personal retinue with steel plate and extensively training them.

5k gold is spent developing a type of furnace that can create more high standard steel. In order to in the future better equip the troops of Rihad. (Blast Furnace)

Economy:

WAR:

WAR is declared on the Duchy of Skaven. Using the CB liberation of the Redguard people and them being opressed by the Imperials. As such the 1st army of Rihad marches towards the capital of Skaven. Beginning the siege of Skaven but mostly in order to force the army of Skaven to rush towards the capital. Making it so that an open battle can be forced .

This battle will preferably take place with the forces of Rihad either on flat land. With perhaps a single hill for an elevated position for the mages and archers to use. In this battle the forces of Rihad will mainly be on the defensive. With quick attacks by the heavy cavalry of Rihad on the enemy cavalry forcing the enemy to attack lest their own cavalry be annhialated. Furthermore, if needed further prompting several mages will fire several fireballs at the enemy forces. Specifically the heavy infantry and cavalry.

When the enemy forces attack a defensive line will be made. With 1/3rd of the palace guards guarding one flank, the other third guarding the right flank and the skirmishers holding the centre. THe plan is that the skirmishers will slowly pull back when attacked. Making the enemy push forward and starting to create a spherical shape. Then once the centre threatens to fail or when the spherical shape is made the reserve heavy infantry will pour in to reinforce the centre or the flanks if needed. However, if the skirmishers hold the line they will stay in position as the archers and mages rain fire down on the enemy.

Once this is done the heavy cavalry will, if the possibility is there, charge the back of the enemy line. With them being most likely superior to the enemy cavalry they will at this point have eradicated it. They will make use of this oppertunity to attack the rear of the enemy. Preferably the ones who are still in reserve unless the front is wavering. At this point the enemy should crumble and the light cavalry will come to attack the fleeing Skaven troops. [MOD/Skype] ((I’m not sure if it is needed but I made this just in case.))

Rise of an Emperor:

0iwKfAA.png

Kingdom of Orsinium:

The city of Orsinium modernizes their defenses. The orcs are already well known for siege defenses. This action seems a bit overkill to many that live outside of Orsinium. The city does receive much needed upgrades to walls, towers and anything else that might help them in a defensive siege.

The ritual ends with no words from Malacath, for now the orcs are on their own. In other news, they have constructed 10 more catapults, which will help them defend their cities and even give them the possibility to push out if they so choose.

The Duchy of Skaven requests a white peace with the Kingdom of Orsinium.

Kingdom of Colovia:

The Imperial city is captured, the colovian military did not suffer as much as the local population did. Civilians were butchered, over 250,000 were killed as the invaders captured the city. With the city in their hands King Marcus declared himself Emperor. Leyawiin immediately disputed that claim, calling Marcus a bloodthirsty warlord, not an emperor.

Hernandius accepts the offer and becomes the captain of the royal guard, training the men to the best of his abilities. These royal guards are the best that Kvatch has to offer. By the end of the year the men are well equipped and trained, some say they are even better duelists than Marcus.

Funds sent to Anvil are well used, as they begin construction of a few more naval vessels. Which will surely please the King of Colovia. Along with this, the roads and bridges across the Kingdom of renovated and improved. Improving travel and transportation of goods across the Kingdom.

A festival is held in Kvatch, nothing interesting happens there.

Jarldom of the Rift:

Merchant Halls are built in Bruma, Chorral, and in Stormhold. Along with this more infantry are trained. Carsten heads down to Kvatch for a little ‘vacation.’ (+30,000 Septims per turn)

Kingdom of Aurion:

The Battle of Aurion ends in a strategic victory for the defenders. Managing to push back the besiegers as well as thin their numbers significantly. This victory will surely send those spineless cowards a message. That Aurion will not back down. Not even with their barbarians knocking at their gates.

More mages are recruited.

Kingdom of Cheydinhal:

More troops are recruited and trained. The Cheydinhal Army becoming an elite fighting force. Comparable to the legions of old. These troops sit eager, waiting for the chance to test their skills in battle.

Leyawiin sends a reply to the King, denying his offer. Will Cheydinhal go to war over this?

The Kingdom of Rihad:

War is delcared, Rihadi troops marching out to meet the enemy in the fields. However they manage to encircle the city with no problem. The Skaven army nowhere in sight. The cowards they are. For now the Rihad army sits encamped around the city.

Ebony armor is much more expensive than what Haserick expected, 1,000 gold only managing him to get the leather straps for this set of armor. Many in his court tell him that ebony is an extremely rare material. As a result it is extremely expensive.

The steel plate however is much easier to manufacture, a 4k investment into it is also a bit inadequate. Much more gold is needed if he wants to equip his personal retinue with the best gear.

A new furnace is created, which will help Rihad in making higher quality arms and armor.

Elsweyr:

More troops are recruited, along with this Bosmer suffering is eased. The disease which only seems to be afflicting them begins to slowly die down. The Valenwood plague is finally over. The Bosmer nations are grateful to the Mane for his support in their darkest years.

Argonians appreciate the lessons that Elsweyr is teaching them about trade.

Jarldom of Windhelm:

New merchant hubs are created in Stormhold, Dawnstar, Chorral, and Leyawiin. Providing Windhelm with plenty of gold. (+40,000 Septims per turn)

The search for the ebony in the old mines begin. The mines have been long cleared out, it has been hundreds of years since any ebony has been found in the mines. Pioneers recommend that they begin construction of a new mine in the mountains. Perhaps there is ebony there to be found.

Oskar’s training goes smoothly, gaining knowledge of personal combat as well as leadership and tactics. (Skype)

Merchant hubs are now capped to 6

Emperor Marcus Orentius. 4E.

Now having a foundation for the future, it was time to begin building upon it. First the purging of corruption of any and all officials is needed. The Royal guard are to find and prosecute any involved in embezzlement, extortion, or anything of the sort, there is no room for that in the new Empire. The current structure of the Empire would not do at all. Centralization is to be tightened, bringing things back to how the old Empire was with strong leadership, law, and order. To replace the losses in the Imperial City men and women are recruited to fill the gaps. As for Leyawiin and their comments, Marcus could care less what he thought of him. Every Lord, warlord, Jarl, or whatever people may call themselves has the right of conquest and all that was done was the exercising of that right. To further prosperity education reforms would be a great start. Every child in future generations would be able to read, write, and do mathematics. The recent conquest surely has left a bad first impression on the people of the Imperial city, so supplies are to be brought in droves to support those still suffering, repairs are to be made to homes and walls destroyed, and reparations are paid to families who lost loved ones and items in the fray. For the animal like action committed against the Imperial City, centurions are to punish their units according to their actions. If the message that slaughter is unacceptable has not reached the men, decimation will occur.

The king looked at the response to his generous offer of protection to Leyawiin in scorn, and now they had the idiocy to name Colovia’s king a warmonger. Such leadership would harm his Kingdom rather than benefit it. And he had his own ambitions, Nibenay. Word would spread fast; Cheydinhal would reform into the Kingdom of Nibenay. With the declaration, a missive would arrive in Leyawiin stating the Kingdom of Nibenays intention to go to war with the nation. Not settlement would be found except for Leyawiin’s immediate annexation. Otherwise blood would flow freely.

With such a declaration, the second legion would march south as would the third Legion (taking the firsts siege equipment with it.)  The Second Legion would march down the far east while the Third would march down the coast. The King would have Leyawiin’s land.

Fortification projects started in the gateways into Morrowind. (10,000)

The Kingdom of Rihad

TcyIsrl.jpg

King Haserick Redhammer sat on a war tent with his foremost commanders around him. They were focused on a map of the region. Especially the neighbouring terrain. Hasericks had recently, through diplomacy and a prolonged siege aquired the city of Skaven. Cutting the Duchy’s army of from the South. That was in the case that the Duchy of Skaven’s army was in the North.

awFfs_YSE4DOoxRE_g2K647Jlj6KFcHAKUAZBD8-

Looking at the map Haserick realized more acutely the possible routes that the armed forces of Skaven would take. Either they would travel back to their territory from the East. Passing through the Duchy of Dragonstar or they would march South through the Dragonstar mountains. Though it was also a posisbility that they would travel South from Heldom Mount and march through the wastes. Which was unlikely as it did not have a proper road network and few supplies to forage from the surrounding terrain. At least not enough to sustain a large army. Thus Haserick realized the most likely possibility was that the returning army of Skaven would go through the area locally known as ‘The Hot Gates’. This would be a tight mountain pass. Allowing for Haserick’s more quality focused army to make the best use of their numbers and skills.

Though this would also mean that Haserick could not make use of his heavy cavalry. However, having a defensive fortification like that would eventually pay of in the end. Furthemore, in the case that this forced the army of Skaven to head south from Heldom Mount it would mean he could still make use of his cavalry. Whilst demoralizing Skaven’s army and causing a large amount of attrition. Which would also be benificial for Haserick. Though Haserick opted to think that the army of Skaven would most likely go through Dragonstar’s territory if it could. Though that would also force Skaven’s army to march for a long time with an extended supply route. Unless they bought supplies from Dragonstar which would decrease Skaven’s treasury.

Finally Haserick spoke. “Ladies and gentlemen. As you know this war is, for now, progressing into our favour. However the enemy army is still in the North and needs to be defeat either strategically or tactically.  To do so we must take advantage of the terrain. With the army of Skaven being North of the Dragontail Mountains after fighting Orisimer we are in an ideal situation to trap them.”

Haserick took a moment to take a breath and then continued explaining the situation.  “
As you can see this will result in three, (four if they are crazy), ways in which Skaven’s army can return to Skaven and it’s extended territories. One way is that they will march through the northern road of the Dragonstone mountains. From here they can be supplied from Heldom Mount and march on Skaven. The second way is that they march directly south from Heldom Mount marching through the dragon’s wastes. The third is that they get military acces from the Duchy of Dragonstar and march from Belkarth Guard. The fourth option is that they either march from the West through Sentinel or march all the way round through Skyrim.

Haserick then gives a wide smile indicating that the fourth optttion is nigh impossible. Then he continues back in all seriousness. “
These can all be countered. Firstly we will construct an outpost at the location locally known as ‘the hot gates’ which is a location with only a thin stretch of land to pass through. This will limit the amount of men that can pass through and by building fortifications there we will effectively deny them any way to attack through the mountains. Unless they go on a full on assault.

In case Skaven chooses the second option we will fight in the Dragon’s wastes. We will create a fortified encampment and choose a hill on which we will build a fortified encampment. This will force Skaven to attack us. Since at this point their supply lines get stretched and it will allow us optimal use of our cavalry and ranged troops.

Thirdly they go through the Duchy of Dragonstar. This would be the most ….. unfortunate option. It would still be benificial for us bet less so than the other options. If Skaven goes through Dragonstar we will need to fight them in a straight on battle. However, by sending their forces through Dragonstar Skaven will need to buy supplies from there. Which will do damage to their treasury. As well as making it so that the communication time with their other holdings will be shortened. In case of such a battle we will go through the traditional means of battle. ”

Haserick then looked around to his command staff. “Does anyone want to make some comments regarding this plan.”
This question was quickly met by the chief Ranger. Who was in charge of scouting missions. “
How will we scout in Dragonstar ? I am not sure they would be happy with our scouts being on their territory.” Haserick nodded at this before responding. “This will be done by sending mildly injured soldiers who have ties to the city of Belkrath Guard to it. In order to report to us if the army of Skaven approaches. As well as giving them time off-duty and to recover from their wounds.” The Chief Scout nodded at this and soon many other smaller questions were asked. Regarding supply and the individual divisons. After about an additional hour the briefing was complete and everyone got to their tasks.

When Haserick was finally finished he took a glance at a recently commisioned painting of him. His wife and more importantly. His beautiful son and daughts. And for a moment Haserick whispered. “
This is all for you.

Military:

Recruitment:

3k Skirmishers are recruited. Specifically to replace the garrison soldiers sent East to reinforce Skaven/the conquered territories.

Total: 3k

6k is spent fortifying the mountain road North from Skaven. Making a strong stone outpost with the main focus being on a wall/gate. This would at least temporarily delay Skaven forces and from behind it catapults and archers could fire on any attacking forces of Skaven. Furthemore, the walls would be manned by 50 mages and 2k palace guards at all times. With the majority of Haserick’s forces camping in Skaven and a force of 4k palace guards and 100 mages and 1k archers staying at the Hot Gates Outpost.

6k the rest of Haserick’s personal retinue of 50 men are equiped with plate armor.

Scouting

750 light cavalry are used as scouts. Patrolling the roads accros the Dragonstar mountains to patrol for incoming Skaven forces, patrolling the wastes south of Heldom Mount as well as any possible forces coming from the East/South. So the 1st army can be warned ahead of time for incoming enemies.

several of the soldiers (preferably soldiers with a wound and who need to be temporarily off-duty to injuries) who have familial or other ties to the city of Belkarth guard. From where they would send a letter if the army of Skaven passed through or rumours of the army of Skaven approaching came.

Finally. The soldiers stationed at the Hot Gates will patrol around the Hot Gates and check for any other mountain passages Skaven could use go through to go around the Hot Gates.

Economy:

20k gold is spent opening 2 merchant guilds (if the nations allow it) in the kingdoms of Sentinel and Gilane. In order to enrich both the kingdom of Rihad as well as it’s surrounding kingdoms.
