Democratic People’s Republic of Korea

일요일은 지금 공간에 있는 한국 자산에 유구하게 빛난다

Taewonsu Kyo Kwan toured the sight of Korea’s growing pride. The Launchpad was increasingly more sophisticated. The DPRK was now planning an active space rotation mission. Supplies and humans went both up and down. Around the Launchpad itself was a heavy amount of the DPRK’s assets. Troops and vehicles in the hundreds manned defensive positions. They got the luxury of watching everything launch off into space. Kyo Kwan personally watched the last of the Korean Ship Yard’s materials fly off.

The growing mission of the current regime was to maintain a form of status quo. The Kim dynasty though idolized, is increasingly phased out. Instead the Junta and Kwo Kwan have been amassing a personality cult. They offer food, and peace. The Korean armies help keep things stable, in an increasingly hostile Asia. The Junta was using the growing armament and tension between Japan and the Pacific States to feed her own propaganda. Unlike the Kims they were lessening some more harsh and cultish doctrine. But by and large order and power would be maintained from top down.

supremeguardcommand.jpg

Besides the excitement of new Government Policy and space expansion, Life in Korea continued in peace. The growing food and wealth was leading to a growing middle class. Education and infrastructure were growing points, endorsed by many Junta members. Several prime North Korean oligarchs were also  coming together to reap the rewards of North Korea’s flowing trade.

*Across Korea as a whole the army is busy staffing forts. Garrisons in cities, bases, and ports will ensure a web of defense across the Nation. Key strategic points see the most defense. Many road ways see frequent tank and afv patrols, a way of power projection from the Junta. Taewonsu Kyo Kwan continues reforming the Officer Cadre based on merit and loyalty. The Koreans take no part in the arms race or politics of Asia abroad.

**The nations of Russia, Mexico, Ireland, and Anterior Coalition are called to meet with Kyo Kwan. They are the current nations in or reaching space by a steady margin. Kyo Kwan seeks to propose a joint space endeavor. One to build a fuel station, to supply everyone’s fleets for exploration.

***Continued work and broadcasting/propaganda reach the world of Korea’s growing tourist space station. The Country itself is locked down, information guarded jealously. The growing DPRK Intelligence Service monitors inward and outward traffic.

In light of all the rising tension in Asia, Korea was seeking strong partners. South Korea with lowering tensions was hopefully one. The other one was a callback to the DPRK’s more anarchist days. A treaty derived the ‘Moscow-Pyongyang Treaty’ is signed. In it the Russians and Koreans vow to explicitly defend one anthers assets [if attacked], be it in space or earth.

A picture is circulated of the Korean Junta posing in front of a ballistic missile with no warhead.

2037

This year in Poland, recruitment is ramped up. Advertisements are once again everywhere. Military recruiters are encouraged to try and sign more and more recruits. Their quota for this year is 100,000 enlistments and for every five enlistments a recruiter gets, there is quite a hefty bonus. To compliment the growing numbers, armored vehicles are produced and quite a large sum of them at that. The number of vehicles requested are sure to keep the producers a bit. As far as Operation Slavic Endurance is concerned, there has been limited success according to the reports. Further details are to be held from the public at this time, any news reports or articles on the GROM operators have been discredited by the administration.

The Republic of Mexico

”Finally after decades of the Cartel plague our beautiful nation. We are free of them. Free of the pain and destruction they caused us!” Wilson would take a deep breath, “The men, women and children who sacrificed their lives to end this scourage. We thank you for your duty, and freeing the nation of the grasp of evil. Corruption and fear have no place in our nation. Today marks the day, it is all over.” The President would have a smile on his face, his posture was confident yet relaxed. “I kept my promise to you, and I thank you all for electing and fighting for me to stay in office. Today we rebuild our nation into greatness. Our golden age begins now. Thank you and God Bless.” The broadcast would cut out, as Wilson walked back into capital building.

Federated States of Ellada

It’s 2:49 AM, and Aleksander has received a phone call. He lazily picks up the phone and presses it to his ear, only to hear the excited shouting of one of his scientists- they had completed the lasers. He grumbled something about having them executed if they did this again, before ordering them to upgrade the Greek army’s LMGs, MGs, and AT weapons to lasers. He fell back asleep, while the Greek army slowly adapted to this new technology and trained men to help in the conflict.

Meanwhile, outside of Istanbul...

The Greek soldiers were now planning their next assault. They had repelled the border assault and fought tooth and nail, bringing their forces to the suburbs of Istanbul. It was a bloody, grinding battle- the Turks resorted to Guerilla warfare, and urban combat was a bloody mess only solved by demolishing entire city blocks with artillery. Now, they were awaiting re-enforcements before their final push. Meanwhile, men were finishing up their training in Greece along with the construction of brand new weapons and warmachines to reinforce. The navy having retreated briefly from the bay of Istanbul, they were being used to escort passenger ships of men to the shores of Avcilar to try and rendezvous with the troops steadily breaking out of Arnavutkoy in Samlar.

ALTERNATIVE MEANS - THE MAID PROJECT

In recent times, the sprawl of Sendai, the second most populous Japanese city north of Tokyo has become home to an extensive number of private industries looking to expand their operations. Among the key investors of the area are the Mitsubishi Group and their subsidiary company of Mitsubishi General Robotics. For some time, the Japanese Armed Forces have looked into and considered artificial ground troops. The drones of yesterday were considered obsolete, hampered by the very nature that they must be controlled by a human operator. The upper brass sought full autonomy in their unmanned combat units. What little manpower that Japan possessed was considered precious. By no means was this a replacement to the common foot soldier, but rather, a means to an end.

Visiting the General Robotics Plant in Sendai was the Prime Minister himself, Yamura Tagawa. Against the immaculate shine of the white walls of the factory’s interior, he stood in stark contrast. His black suit turned heads of many a factory worker. On top of that, he was flanked by a large entourage, blocking the aisle and potentially being the cause of an enormous safety risk should accident break out. However, none questioned him nor had to explain to him the hazards that were being produced in this very room.

The Prime Minister surveyed the room. All around him parts were being constructed and assembled before his very eyes; what he assumed to be processing units, artificial limbs, and everything imaginable. The room was filled with a cacophony of different noises; he could hardly think to himself. At this point, he had blindly walked the length of the facility. He was supposed to be on tour and assess the capabilities and readiness of the project.

It was then that the Chief Engineer stopped, turning to the Prime Minister, “Progress is coming… slow, to say the least, Your Excellency. There is just no practical way to power these combat units; not with current energy methods.”

“What can we do?” the Prime Minister asked.

“With more funding we can delve deeper into alternative power. We have… theories we can test.”

“I’ll get you what you need.”

The Engineer bent in a low bow, “You will not be disappointed, Prime Minister.”

“I’m sure I’ll not be. I look forward to your progress,” he feigned a smile, returning the bow. With a quick pivot, the Prime Minister motioned to his staff, urging their departure.

CHRISTENING OF THE HONSHU

Some time later…

It was no ordinary day on the shores of Japan. After numerous months, one of the largest undertakings by the country in decades lays complete. In the drydocks, awaited the newly minted aircraft carrier of the Honshu-class. Since the end of the Second Great War, Japan had not delved too heavily into these floating cities. Once more would they be reintegrated into Japanese naval doctrine. Having learnt much from joint exercises and shortcomings of previous navies, the designers of the Honshu-class hoped to have remedy all and any issues that come with such strategically important, yet vulnerable piece of military hardware.

Standing at the drydocks were members of the Imperial family, several chief naval commanders, and all who cared to spectate the occasion. Whether the average citizen realized it or not, this was a momentous event for the Empire. Once more, the Japanese would be able to project their power over the East. Of course, all for the prospect of ensuring the nation’s sovereignty and the safety of the seven seas.

In the Emperor’s hand was a vintage bottle of champagne. He knew not the brand. The christening of a ship was a simple, though appreciated formality. It was another of those western-adopted traditions. Yet, it suited their purposes. With the expansion of the Japanese navy, he suspected he or someone else would have to do this many more times. It was no more harmless than wishing the ship and its crew good luck. However, that could go a long way for some of the sailors.

He awaited his turn to speak. The Emperor observed the ceremony with mild interest, moreso focused upon the faces of those present than the content of their speech. He watched as the speaker at the podium, named and congratulated several key individuals to the project. At last, his own name was called out, “...and now, a word from His Imperial Majesty.” Naruhito perked, raising his chin at his mention, surveying the gathering. A round of applause and cheer erupted. As it subsided, he began.

He didn’t know where to begin -- he was much less ready than he had initially thought. Though, he had to say something. “Proud sons and daughters of Japan. I am proud to stand here before you and present the testament of Japanese engineering and technological advancement. The first in our line of Honshu-class aircraft carriers, marks a new era for the people of Japan. Thus, for the Empire of Japan, I christen thee, Honshu, may the crew of this ship know safe waters and bring great honor to their country.”

Without hesitation, the Emperor took hold of the bottle of champagne and with a confident blow, cracked it open against the hull of the Honshu, coating the side of the ship and much of his suit in the white foam. He smiled as he did so, dropping the end he held and turning towards the cameras; no doubt would the people want pictures.

ORGANIZED CRIME AND THE RESPONSE

When the boryokudan haijojorei, or the organized crime exclusionary laws, came into effect in 2011, many had come believe that the final nail had been hammered into the coffin of the yakuza. However, Japanese intelligence agencies now seem thoroughly convinced their operations have been moved underground; unknown if for better or worse. Once they were able to publicly utilize extortion, fraud, and violence. However, the law was utilized to its full extent to ensure those suspected of yakuza activity were shut out from ordinary services, such as banks, jobs, clubs. Thus, they were excluded from Japanese society. Another blow came in the addition that crime bosses would be held accountable for the actions of their employees in the court of law. In the years following, crime was said to have receded.

Yet, it was unknown whether or not this was the death of the yakuza or rather they had merely taken the time to reassess their strategies and push their operations underground. Local law enforcement grew increasingly concerned. The brutal tactics had seemingly disappeared, but had been traded for something potentially worse. In recent years, the number of drugs and substances in circulation in the streets had seen an exponential increase. Police have largely been unable to find the source of these drugs. Yet, it is widely accepted that they are being imported and not synthesized on Japanese soil. If drugs are being smuggled in, who knows what else may be entering or leaving the country?

In response to the hushed transport of contraband in and out of Japan, several more laws were passed to find the root of the issue. The first was aimed at expanded the maritime forces to intercept traffickers, while the second mandated extensive background checks of government officials and allowing law enforcement and the judiciary to investigate officials they deem corrupt.

In a quiet arrangement, in all but name, the ‘Kempeitei’, is reformed as an organization as an intelligence and security agency, as well as a secret police and conventional military police force. The agency remains shrouded in mystery, with rumors drawing parallels to the gendarmerie utilized by Japan at the height of their Empire in the Second World War.

The year 2037 marks a historic one for the Pacific. Long had the area be divided between Chinese and Japanese spheres of influence. Bitter rivals since the first Sino-Japanese war. However, this was the beginning of a new era. In January of 2037, the first Sino-Japanese summit was held, the second one in March. Over the course of the year, relations grew exponentially.

December was the crescendo of these relations. Yet another summit, held in Tianjin, the capital of China marked a historic day. The event was widely publicized. Pictures of Emperor Naruhito and President Li Qiang shaking hands covered the front pages of the news across Asia. For days, both governments engaged in heated discussion, the entire world waited in anticipation. What would come of yet another historic meeting?

Their question was answered with a glorious announcement. On December 21st 2037, the Tokyo-Tianjin Axis was established. The announcement was accompanied by a glorious display of Asian military prowess. Massive joint Sino-Japanese military parades rolled through the streets of Tokyo and Tianjin. In the skies, Chinese jets roared, at sea the Imperial Navy remained ever dominant. The coalition would focus on the preserving the peace, prosperity, stability, and defense of its member states.

===Nation Post===

Federated States of Ellada -

Greek miners bring up Titanium from the shafts of hell, they eagerly announce there is much more.

Combat along the entire Greek front begins anew this year alongside a coastal invasion from the Egyptians.

Republic of China -

Two missile installations installed strategically throughout china raises concerns with the people whom long for peace at the moment. It soons become evident that controversy surrounds the situation but nothing more than that.

Nothing is found this year, could it be due to lack of funding or lack of resources...

DPRK -

South Korea accepts to talk about ending the Armistice and signing an open peace treaty, a historical event for the Korean people.

The orbital shipyard is completed leading the North Koreans to become the second nation to do so. Their shipyard suddenly comes near orbits with an Anterior one where multiple warships can be seen being built in its hinges.

Empire of Japan -

Reports flood into the Japanese government that a mining company discovered Titanium in its most northern province.

All trade deals are accepted with shipments going unharnessed through the pacific.

The Pan-Pacific states itself sends out its third carrier fleet, the size left disclosed but radar reports can see it on patrol by the Philippines. Their position is amicable if anything it’s in preparation for a progressively worsening relation with the Latin’s.

The fission battery, something entirely unwieldy and dangerous to be around but perfect to generate the necessary power for the upcoming robots. Given time this technology would be completed but as for 2038, it’s still on the drawing board.

Militarizing the police has led to great concern with the people at first then solace and security as the already limited crime subsided to a standstill. It is now commonplace to see officers on patrol around the streets of the many cityscapes armed to the teeth donning Kevlar.

Many people have moved on from World War Two, if anything China is the one that needs to atone for its sins committed. The Japanese name is all but cleared at this point and thankfully many nations eagerly wish them well.

Polish Republic -

Slavic endurance continues but suddenly takes a turn for the worse…

The Polish rearmament does not go unnoticed as Belarus and Lithuania seem to have massive recruitment drives surge across their nations.

Italy -

Resources seem to be evading your researchers, could it be that they’re probing without funding?

Kinetic Gel research goes so well that scientist are eager for it to be finished next year, reports shows soldier’s resilience improving by almost 25% against conventional ballistics. An impressive increase for such a new technology.

Mexico-

The Mexicans soon find naturally occurring graphene surprisingly near the war-zone they recently had with the Cartel. On that note the people are exceptionally happy and the money taken off the streets leads to a boon of legal cash. (5+ AP For this turn.)

Orbital construction starts well with many Mexicans talking about this to rid their minds of the Cartel war.

The Bohemian State-

Mountainous terrain leads people to send in samples of Thorium having recently been found in the wilds by explorers.

Research continues in the nation unhindered, things just did not seem to happen in Bohemia.

German Republic-

Titanium is openly exploited thanks to the German aptitude, it has been found in its north.

USSR-

Unsurprisingly with such a large amount of land, Thorium is discovered in the vast landscape. As for space, the shipyard construction goes well if not fantastic with expectations for it being finished by the end of the year.

The offer to join is indefinitely declined by Ukraine and Belarus both still harboring cold feelings towards the east for past transgressions.

Canada -

All trade offers are accepted bringing Canada great prosperity!

The investigations all lead to nothing but speculation, the people stopped disappearing and even then those that remain have a sort of shell-shock.

===Events===

Continued warfare between the Latin Confederacy and Brazil with no change, the fighting seems to be reaching a slow stalemate as Latin aircraft are being engaged by previously unheard of fighter craft. They seem to be the familiar Pan-Pacific ones leading to a diplomatic fallout between these two superpowers.

The ODI launches its first defense platform into orbit, its payload filled with missiles specifically made to detonate on asteroids to break them apart to ease their descent and enable our atmosphere a chance to burn them up.

Oddly enough, the African front goes dark with its borders all the sudden being shut off from the world. The country seems to have almost gone completely silent and its military seemingly buzzing at an exponential rate.

Democratic People’s Republic of Korea

일요일은 지금 공간에 있는 한국 자산에 유구하게 빛난다

Taewonsu Kyo Kwan inspected the massed ranks of Korean troops on the border. Almost ten thousand strong, with vehicles, and jets flying above. Just a few feet away was the demilitarized line between him and South Korea. The massed power of his army was pointed at Seoul. And ceremonially for the last time, the fired a shot into the air over the border. Then a South Korean troop marched up, and exchanged greetings. Kyo and his South Korean counterpart exchanged words, pictures, and gifts. And so the war between the Korean states was finally ended. Borders are fully opened, tariffs lowered, and tourism encouraged.

However even South Korea would not be exempt from the growing army security programs. Officers from the KIS led columns of men with tanks and afvs. They patrolled the nation, and maintained open lines between the scattered garrisons. Certain areas of Korea, and the air above it, were completely restricted. There no one but DPRK members with clearance could go. It was places like that where Korea’s future were growing.

Kyo Kwan and his cabinet finally formally comment on the Chinese and Japanese machinations. He supports the growing sense of growing Asian influence. Though he does not exactly agree with the implications of this full fledged military alliance, he hopes trade will continue. North Korea itself was locked tight under the army and defense grid, while KIS agents monitored it’s people. Outside she has secured defensive alliances with Russia, and South Korea, and perhaps others. Status Quo and Stability were the new Regime’s motto.

In Space the first North Korean ship debuts. Classified as a corvette, it will be the backbone of her scouting class navy. The ships main goal was to ensure the protection of Korea’s growing space territory and installations. The first Space installation will also host the growing cadre of space members of the DPRK. They will rigorously ensure control of their section of space.

The Bohemian State

640?cb=20101216231840

In the year of our Lord 2038:

WIth the discovery of Thorium within the Bohemian mountains, a new issue arose. The protection of the strategic resource. The Grand Chancellor enacts a new military expansion in the form of the construction of more fighters as well as AA for the ground troops. Which will protect the Bohemian border for the time being. Diplomats are also sent to Slovakia, with the mission of buttering up the officials in Slovakia. As well as bringing up the idea of reunification, the main idea behind it is that all Slavs are brothers.

Prospectors are sent all across Bohemia in search of more strategic resources that the State could either sell or keep, for now, Thorium is offered to Poland and Poland alone. If they are to refuse, then Slovakia will be offered the resource.
