A Game of Thrones

The year was 299 A.C. and the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros had fallen into civil war. The war erupted following the death of the King, Robert Baratheon. His Hand, Eddard Stark was arrested shortly after causing his son, Robb Stark to march south in order to free him. Shortly after his arrival in Riverrun, the seat of House Tully he learned of his father’s death by the young King Joffrey’s orders. Joffrey was the son of Robert Baratheon, though his mother Cersei Lannister ruled in his stead as Queen Regent. His actions would lead Robb to declare himself King in the North, with Riverrun declaring themselves a part of his new Kingdom. In the south Robert’s brothers, Renly and Stannis both laid their own claim to the throne, but shortly after they met Renly would die, leaving his young Queen Margaery Tyrell and her family to seek a new suitor. In the east, the Greyjoys of the Iron Islands claimed their old title of the Kings of the Iron Islands and began raiding in the north. The Martells of the south simply waited, putting men in place to defend the Prince’s Path.

While the War of the Five Kings began to rage in Westeros, rumors of strange occurrences began to make their way east. A Targaryen girl gave birth to three dragons and was on her way to Westeros to make her own claim. With the word of dragons came other rumors, such as the return of magic to the world, but the Maesters of Old Town were quick to deny this. The Red Woman who serves Stannis is one of the few in Westeros who practiced this supposed magic. Even more troubling, traders from Yi Ti reported the invention of new deadly weapons, which shot iron instead of arrows.

OOC

Players may choose from any of the Great or Major houses and are expected to roleplay not only their main holdings but also as their character. The Seven Kingdoms is a feudal society which is expected to operate as such, and thus these Great Houses do not hold absolute power over their domain.

Losing a character does not mean you lose your House, as long as a viable heir remains then they can be used following the death of a character. Regents are replaced over time as well, such as the Queen Regent of the Iron Throne, Cersei Lannister. You can also roleplay certain characters under your control, but their primary goals and traits cannot be changed easily. You are also responsible for the development and upkeep of your holdings.

The roleplay will be starting following the death of Renly Baratheon and will follow a combination of show and book storylines, allowing for players to mix between the two. Certain aspects from the show and books will likely be abandoned, such as the threat of White Walkers. Magic will be largely controlled by the Mod and employed only in certain situations. Technology in this FRP has also been slightly advanced, with the invention of firearms in the Essosi nation of Yi Ti, though none have yet to reach Westeros.

Danyerys, Essos, and other characters introduced in the later seasons and books may become available as the RP progresses but cannot be played as of now.

Under special request, I may allow for one of the more western free cities.

Interesting Houses:

House Greyjoy (No Leader Right Now)

House Hightower (Leyton Hightower)

House Tyrell (Mace Tyrell)

House Manderly (Wyman Manderly)

House Bracken (Jonos Bracken)

House Blackwood (Tytos Blackwood)
House Mallister (Jason Mallister)

House Frey (Walder Frey)

The Night’s Watch (Jeor Mormont)

Almost any other Westerosi House can also be played!

For information not included here, use https://awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Main_Page for information.

Show information is also allowed, though it may not include all necessary information regarding a house.

As of 299 A.C., and following the death of their King, Renly Baratheon, House Tyrell has yet to swear allegiance to any king. Mace Tyrell, his wife Alerie, his mother Olenna, and his two eldest sons Willas and Garlan reside at Highgarden along with their many extended cousins and kin. House Name: Baratheon

Holdings: Stormlands and the Narrow Sea.

Lord: Stannis Baratheon I

Who do they bend the knee to?: The One True King; Stannis Baratheon

Religion: R’hllor

Brief History (1-2 Paragraphs): Stannis Baratheon had held Storms End for almost two years during his brother’s rebellion against the crown, his men saved from starvation only by the miraculous arrival of the smuggler Davos Seaworth. (Whom he would later dub Ser Davos and as the just man he was, take three of his fingers for Davos’s past crimes.) However, now King of Westeros, Robert did not appreciate his brother’s actions and sent him to rule as Lord of Dragonstone while his younger brother Renly got Storms End. Stannis has treated this a slight ever since.

In the recent years, Stannis uncovered the dark truth about Robert’s children with the help of the King’s hand Jon Arryn, that they were not infact Robert’s children but incestrous abominations fathered by none other than the Queen’s brother Ser Jaime Lannister ‘the Kingslayer’. Jonos Arryn was mysteriously killed, and Stannis fled the city where he had been serving as Master of the Ships. On Dragonstone, the middle brother broods. Until news reached him that the new King’s hand Eddard Stark had been imprisoned by the King’s bastard son Joffrey whom had declared himself King of Westeros. And soon, Eddard Stark himself was executed. Stannis struck his banners and declared himself King denouncing Joffrey and his siblings as abominations born of Incest between his mother and uncle.

But it would not be easy, for his younger brother Renly who had scorned him from gaining Storms End in the first place had declared himself King. Surely not out of any factual evidence but sinply a desire for power. He had even secured the power of the Reach, and began a slow march north to Kings Landing. In response to this, Stannis besieged Storms End and Renly marched back. Despite his obvious lack of soldiers compared to Renlys giganric force; Stannis refused to hack down. And after brief uncusseful negoations each man left to rest for the upcoming battle. Yet it never came, for Renly was soon dead, likely slain by the wench Knight Brienne of Tarth. Stannis secured many of Renlys supporters and besieges Storms End.

If you could find a Casatmer or Tarbreck, just ask them. In more recent events Tywin with 20 years of ruling the Kingdom under his belt is once more called into action. Initially he ordered men to intercept Ned Starks peace keeping mission led by Lord Dondarion.

With the outbreak of all out war, Tywin and house Lannister were well positioned in the heart of the kingdom. Even now the Iron Throne is theirs, alongside King’s Landing. Since House Tully hasn’t been accepted yet imma put one up to hopefully to get it instead.. sorry Unusual <3.

Application

House Name: House Tully

Holdings: The Riverlands, Riverun

Lord: Hoster Tully

Who do they bend the knee to?: Robb Stark, King of the North

Religion: If I’m correct it’s the Faith of the Seven

Brief History (1-2 Paragraphs):

House Tully is a great house and Lord Paramount of the Riverlands. They rose to during the Wars of Conquest where Lord Edmyn Tully rebelled against the King of the Isles and the Riverlands supporting House Targaryen. Once Aegon the Conqueror established the Iron Throne the family was rewarded as Lord Paramount of the Riverlands. Currently to this day the family still sits as rulers of the Riverlands within the castle of Riverun as their family home.

During Robert’s Rebellion, Hoster Tully would raise his banners against the Mad King to assist Lord Robert Baratheon after the execution of Rickard and Brandon Stark. Years later,  Hoster Tully would be a bed-ridden man to the point where the responsibilities would fall to his son Edmure Tully. His daughter, Catelyn Stark would later capture Tyrion Lannister due to him allegedly attempting to kill her son to which his father Tywin Lannister would send out Ser Gregor Clegane along with some raiders to the Riverlands as retaliation along with raising banners from Lannisport.

Meanwhile, Edmure Tully would send a defensive force to defend the Riverlands in the Battle of Golden Tooth resulting in a Lannister victory. As Edmure retreated his forces back to Riverrun, Jamie Lannister would begin an attempt to siege Riverun. While the siege began to make ready, Ser Brynden Tully would go to his great-nephew, Robb Stark, which would result in them breaking the siege of Riverun along with capturing Jamie Lannister at the Battle of Whispering Wood. After the Battle, the Tully’s would soon declare Robb Stark, King of the North, with fellow lords.

House Name: The King Beyond the Wall

Holdings: The True North

Lord: Mance Rayder

Who do they bend the knee to?: We do not kneel

Religion: The Old Gods

Brief History (1-2 Paragraphs): The Freefolk have lived beyond the wall since it was first built. In the construction of the wall, they were forever cut off from the rest of the world. Since then, multiple Kings beyond the wall have risen. Only a couple have actually ever made it beyond the wall, and none of them have made it very far past that. However, as time has gone on and the Night’s Watch has grown weak, wildling raids are becoming more and more common.

Now, possibly the greatest king beyond the wall has risen. Mance Rayder, a former member of the Night’s Watch, left the black and joined the freefolk. For years now, he has dedicated to uniting the forty or so tribes north of the wall, along with the giants, in order to save them all from the White Walkers. Now, Mance Rayder finds himself trying to save his people, with the Night’s Watch standing in the way.

House Name: House Baratheon

Holdings: The Crownlands, King’s Landing.

Lord: Joffrey Baratheon the first of his name, King of the Seven Kingdoms.

Who they bend the knee to?: Joffrey Baratheon.

Religion: The Faith of the Seven

Brief History: Joffrey’s father Robert rebelled against the Mad King Aerys Targaryen in a culmination of events; first his son Rhaegar had kidnapped and presumably later raped his betrothed Lyanna Stark. Then after this horrendous act, Robert’s best friend Eddard Starks brother Brandon Stark rode to King’s Landing demanding his sister back. But the Mad King imprisoned him, then Eddard’s own father Rickard Stark rode south to get his son released and had an audience with the Mad King demanding trial by combat for his sons release. But the King, ever cruel, insisted that fire was his champion. As a result Rickard Stark was burned to death in his own armour, his son strangled himself to death trying to rescue him.

After this hideous act the Mad King declared Eddard Stark and Robert Baratheon traitors and demanded their foster father Jon Arryn hand them over. He did not, and struck his banners in open rebellion against the mad King. Robert soon moved south to the Stormlands while Eddard Stark called his banners from the North. What conflict ensued was known as Robert’s rebellion which finally culminated at the Battle of the Trident and the subsequent sack of King’s Landing by Tywin Lannister late to the war after the Mad-King foolishly believed Tywin was coming to his aid and opened the gates to his old friend. Because of this act, Robert married Tywin’s daughter Cersei Lannister who was counted among the most beautiful women of Westeros at that time.

Together they had three children; Joffrey, Myrcella and Tommen, all sporting the golden Lannister hair and green eyes. Enemies of the true heir Joffrey were not qudck to pounce on this feature, most notably Stannis Baratheon and Eddard Stark. The former attempted a coup against Joffrey which ultimately failed when Janos Slynt Commandero of the City Watch came to the defense of his rightful King (of course, after some hefty bribes from Littlefinger) and cut down Lord Starks men. The traitor lord was imprisoned until Joffrey had him dragged out to the sept of Baelor to hail him as the true King. Forced to do so, since his daughter Sansa was held as a hostage by the Lannisters. To the horror of his mother Cersei, Sansa his betrothed wife and Varys the spider; Joffrey had the traitor executed. But because of Eddard Starks imprisonment and subsequent execution, Robb Stark has called his banners and marched south, winning victory after victory over the Lannisters.

Soon after this act, Joffrey’s uncle Tyrion Lannister arrived in the capital to serve as temporary King’s Hand until his father was finished with the war in the North. Yet these were not the only threats, to the south and east new threats appeared; Joffreys powerhungry uncles the heathen Stannis and flamboyant Renly have both declared themselves the King’s of the Seven Kingdoms. While Stannis’s claim was far superior to his younger brothers, Renly enjoyed the support of both the Reach and the Stormlands. To Cersei and Tyrions delight, the pair chose to fight eachother rather than work together.

Old feuds ran deep between the pair, Stannis had always loathed his younger brother especially after he had been scorned over Storms End instead being seemingly banished to Dragonstone. Renly had got the Stormlands while Stannis secured some rocks in the narrow sea. But there would be no battle, Renly was slain. Some say he was killed by a shadow, others claim the wench knight Brienne of Tarth did it. But none could argue, Stannis came out the victor. While the Tyrells refused to support him, the Stormlanders flocked to his banners as did a few houses of the Reach. King’s landing itself is threatened by the usurper Stannis, and siege preperations are being made. But Stannis will fail and perish, as will all other foes of Joffrey Baratheon.

House Name: House Crakehall

Holdings: Crakehall

Lord: Roland Crakehall

Who do they bend the knee to?: House Lannister

Religion: Faith of the Seven

Brief History (1-2 Paragraphs): The Crakehalls are among the prominent houses of the Westerlands. They are of modest, yet noteworthy repute; claiming descent from Crake the Boarkiller during the Age of Heroes and another Crakehall even briefly reigning as King of the Iron Islands. Their seat, Crakehall, sits to the south of the Westerlands on the border of the Reach. They are known for their robust and large size, as well as producing strong and fearsome warriors.

With war on the brink in Westeros, and loyal to the House of Lannister, the men of Crakehall would relish at such an opportunity.
