House Stark

Titles: King in the North, King of the Trident, Lord of Winterfell

Primary Seat: Winterfell

Significant Characters: King Robb Stark (The Crag), Bran Stark (Winterfell), Catelyn Stark (Riverrun), Sansa Stark (King’s Landing, hostage of the Iron Throne), Arya Stark (King’s Landing, hostage of the Iron Throne, rumored to be missing or dead), Rickon Stark (Winterfell), Theon Greyjoy (Iron Islands, envoy), Brienne of Tarth (Riverrun), Brynden “Blackfish” Tully (Riverrun)

Estimated Manpower (Max Potential): 45,000

Recent History: As the War of Five Kings began, the North soon marched south to demand the release of their Lord Paramount, Eddard Stark from the Black Cells of King’s Landing. In Riverrun news reached Robb that rather than his father had been deemed a traitor and executed by the young king, Joffrey Baratheon. Outraged, the North made Robb Stark their King, with the Riverlands bending the knee as well. Now the North fought to avenge the death of their Lord who was wrongfully accused as a traitor by a suspected bastard. After capturing Jaime and proving his prowess in the Battle of the Whispering Wood, Robb now threatened Lannisport from the Crag where he and what is often reported as an army of wolves reak havoc on Tywin Lannister’s land.

As the war began, Robb Stark sent envoys to those who would soon announce themselves as Kings. Catelyn Stark traveled south to Bitterbridge and then Storm’s End, where she met with and witnessed the death of Renly Baratheon at the hand of what she claims was Stannis’s shadow. Brienne of Tarth joined Catelyn as a sworn sword here after being accused of the murder and fled to Riverrun with her. Her children found themselves spread throughout Westeros, as Robb and Grey Wind fought in the Westerlands both Sansa and Arya remained imprisoned in King’s Landing, though no one had seen Arya since the day Eddard was arrested. Bran ruled as Prince of Winterfell while Rickon was still a young child whos wolf was continually running rampant through the castle, as wild as he was. Theon Greyjoy had also been sent to the Iron Islands where he met with his father, who declared himself a King.

House Lannister

Titles: Lord Paramount of the Westerlands, Warden of the West, Lord of Casterly Rock, Shield of Lannisport

Primary Seat: Casterly Rock
Significant Characters: Tywin Lannister (Near Harrenhal), Tyrion Lannister (King’s Landing), Jaime Lannister (Riverrun), Cersei Lannister (King’s Landing), Kevan Lannister (Harrenhal), Genna Lannister (Casterly Rock), Gerion Lannister (Missing), Gregor Clegane (Harrenhal)

Estimated Manpower (Max Potential): 50,000

Recent History: Tywin Lannister had ruled his lands peacefully from Casterly Rock when his son Tyrion Lannister was imprisoned by the wife of Eddard Stark, Catelyn Tully. In response, Gregor Clegane or “the Mountain that Rides” began attacking the Riverlands though it was claimed without his support. Soon after the War of Five Kings would erupt when Robert Baratheon died and Ned Stark was arrested. His son, Jaime Lannister was sent to lay siege to Riverrun but was captured in the Battle in the Whispering Woods where Robb Stark proved his own military prowess. After Tywin’s grandson King Joffrey beheads Ned Stark, the North rebels as it’s own Kingdom and the two would face off in the Riverlands. Tywin spent much of the war up until Renly’s death at Harrenhal, where he commanded his armies. Recently at Oxcross, Stafford Lannister’s army was smashed and he was killed in battle by the army under Robb Stark.

The Lannister family is scattered throughout Westeros, with Tywin and his brother Kevan recently departing from Harrenhal with their armies. Jaime was currently imprisoned in Riverrun by the King in the North, and his other son Tyrion acted as Hand of the King in King’s Landing alongside the Queen Regent, Cersei Lannister, Tywin’s daughter.

House Baratheon of Dragonstone

Titles: King of Westeros (Claimed), King of the Andals, the Rhoynar, and the First Men (Claimed), Lord of the Seven Kingdoms (Claimed), Protector of the Realm (Claimed), Lord of Dragonstone, Lord of Storm’s End, Ser

Primary Seat: Dragonstone
Significant Characters: Stannis Baratheon (Storm’s End), Davos Seaworth (Storm’s End), Melisandre (Storm’s End), Selyse Florent (Dragonstone), Shireen Baratheon (Dragonstone),

Estimated Manpower (Max Potential): 30,000

Recent History: The Dragonstone branch of House Baratheon was formed when Robert Baratheon granted Stannis the island as a reward for his role in Robert’s Rebellion against the Targaryen as it was long the seat of the heir to the Iron Throne. Stannis had long taken this as an insult as Dragonstone was a castle on a rock just outside of Blackwater Bay, but when the time came to lay his claim on the Iron Throne against the pretender Joffrey, his command of the royal fleet proved to be vital. Now Stannis fights for his birthright against the bastard born of the supposed incestuous relationship between the Queen Cersei Lannister and her brother Jaime. All Baratheons had before then been born with hair and eyes the color of coal, yet Robert’s three children had golden curls. From this and the evidence found by Stannis, he sent his Hand, Davos Seaworth to spread the word throughout the Seven Kingdom and convince the houses to carry out their duty and bend the knee to the rightful King of the Seven Kingdoms.

Most of Stannis’s family remained on Dragonstone where Queen Selyse led a cult of followers who supported the Lord of Light R’hllor and the Red Priestess, Melisandre. She is rumored to have strange abilities and claims to see the future in flames. It is rumored by some in Riverrun she and Stannis were involved in the death of Renly, not Brienne of Tarth.

House Baratheon of King’s Landing

Titles: King of Westeros, King of the Andals, the Rhoynar, and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, Protector of the Realm

Primary Seat: King’s Landing
Significant Characters: (All in King’s Landing) Joffrey Baratheon, Cersei Lannister, Tyrion Lannister, Myrcella Baratheon, Tommen Baratheon, Petyr Baelish, Varys, Grand Maester Pycelle, Sandor Clegane

Estimated Manpower (Max Potential): 10,000-15,000

Recent History: Following the death of Robert Baratheon, King of the Seven Kingdoms, the realm soon fell into chaos. Cersei Lannister ensured she would become regent through the arrest of Eddard Stark, and when he was supposed to be sent north to the Wall, Joffrey instead saw him beheaded. This led to the realm becoming fractured, and soon after the claims of his illegitimacy would see Robert’s brothers and Joffrey’s uncles, Stannis and Renly laying their own claims. The North would rebel under the King in the North, Robb Stark, leaving the Crownlands to be defended by House Lannister. Following the death of Renly, Stannis had arrived at Storm’s End and Cersei Lannister had continuously requested her father bring an army to protect the city, but instead sent Tyrion Lannister to serve as Hand in his stead. The Grand Council was all that was left to hold King’s Landing together while hoping to raise Joffrey into becoming a decent King.

House Tyrell

Titles: Lord Paramount of the Mander, Lord of Highgarden, Defender of the Marches, High Marshal of the Reach, Warden of the South

Primary Seat: Highgarden

Significant Characters: Mace Tyrell (Highgarden), Willas Tyrell (Highgarden), Garlan Tyrell (Highgarden), Loras Tyrell (Near Fawnton), Margaery Tyrell (Bitterbridge), Olenna Tyrell (Highgarden)

Estimated Manpower (Max Potential): 80,000-100,000

Recent History: At the onset of the War of Five Kings, House Tyrell had aligned with Renly Baratheon following a marriage between Renly and the daughter of Lord Mace Tyrell, Margaery. This alliance seemed to ensure Renly the Iron Throne, yet the hopes were soon put to an end on the eve of battle between Renly and his brother Stannis outside of Storm’s End. Renly had been killed seemingly by Brienne of Tarth, and now much of the Tyrell host lay in waiting in Bitterbridge.

House Tully

Titles: Lord Paramount of the Riverlands, Lord of Riverrun

Primary Seat: Riverrun
Significant Characters: Hoster Tully (Riverrun), Edmure Tully (Riverrun), Brynden “Blackfish” Tully (The Crag)

Estimated Manpower (Max Potential): 45,000

Recent History: Following Robert’s Rebellion, House Tully found itself in an advantageous position within the Seven Kingdoms. An alliance with the North, Vale, and Stormlands created a powerful political block which allowed Hoster Tully to maintain his power and region through the Rebellion and the conflicts following then. As the War of Five Kings began, Edmure Tully had begun acting as regent for his bedridden father and was forced to defend the Riverlands against Gregor Clegane after his sister Catelyn Tully captured Tyrion Lannister in order to try him for the murder of Jon Arryn. As the war began to expand in scale, he bent the knee to the King in the North, Robb Stark and came to the defense of his sister when her husband was executed unjustly by Joffrey Baratheon and Cersei Lannister. Now Edmure found it in his hands to manage the Lords of Riverlands and keep them happy while they fought a war in the name of the Starks.

House Bolton

Titles: Lord of the Dreadfort

Primary Seat: The Dreadfort
Significant Characters: Roose Bolton (Near Harrenhal), Ramsay Bolton

Estimated Manpower (Max Potential): 5,000

Recent History: House Bolton served House Stark loyally, though Roose aspired for more. House Bolton long felt it was not meant to be below the Starks, but nonetheless, the Starks remained their Lord. Roose Bolton had been Lord of the Dreadfort for some time and had a son Domeric Bolton, but when the bastard son he fathered off a miller’s daughter he raped came to the Dreadfort to serve his father, Domeric soon died and Ramsay Bolton became his primary heir and ruled the Dreadfort in his father’s stead while he fought in the south. Ramsay soon after married the widowed and heirless Lady Hornwood, hoping to gain their land for House Bolton. This would cause strife and soon after Rodrik Cassel, Winterfell’s Castellan would lead a host to the Dreadfort to free Lady Hornwood and capture Ramsay who was seemingly killed. Now, Roose Bolton remains in the south seemingly heirless.

House Karstark

Titles: Lord of Karlhold

Primary Seat: Karlhold
Significant Characters: Rickard Karstark (The Crag),
Harrion Karstark (Harrenhal, hostage), Arnolf Karstark (Karlhold), Alys Karstark (Karlhold), Cregan Karstark (Karlhold),

Estimated Manpower (Max Potential): 3,000

Recent History: House Karstark was formed from a cadet branch of House Stark and has been a loyal house since then. Situated in the far north, the Karstarks often aid the Night’s Watch and are one of House Stark’s principal bannermen. At the Battle in the Whispering Wood, Rickard Karstark and two of his sons fought alongside Robb Stark, though Eddard and Torrhen Karstark would be slain by Jaime Lannister as they defended Robb. His last surviving son, Harrion Karstark had been taken prisoner at the Battle on the Green Fork while under the command of Roose Bolton. Rickard Karstark would begin to have his revenge at the Battle of Oxcross where he killed Stafford Lannister and helped to smash the amassing Lannister host.

House Reed

Title: Lord of Greywater Watch

Primary Seat: Greywater Watch

Significant Characters: Howland Reed (Greywater Watch), Meera Reed (Winterfell), Jojen Reed (Winterfell), Jyana (Greywater Watch)

Estimated Manpower (Max Potential): 2,500

Recent History: House Reed is an old and loyal house in the North, and is known for little more than their affinity for swamps and frogs. Despite this, they receive much respect in the North and Howland Reed is one of the few men who rode south with Eddard Stark to the Tower of Joy, where Lyanna Stark was being held. Now, Howland Reed continued to support the North, albeit in less of a way than most houses. They did not provide men, but the children of Howland Reed, Jojen and Meera, were sent to Winterfell where they provided advice, company, and protection for Bran and Rickon Stark. Little is known about the mysteries of Greywater Watch and even less is known about the Lords which rule the swamps of the Neck.

House Crakehall

Titles: Lord of Crakehall

Primary Seat: Crakehall
Significant Characters: Roland Crakehall, Burton Crakehall, Tybolt Crakehall, Lyle Crakehall, Merlon Crakehall

Estimated Manpower (Max Potential): 5,000

Recent History: House Crakehall is a loyal vassal of House Lannister in the Westerlands. During the War of Five Kings, they have served under House Lannister in important battles, including the Battle on the Green Fork and the Battle of Oxcross, where Lord Roland Crakehall had been believed to be slain but it had been proven to be wrong. Now, the house continued their fight alongside Lord Tywin Lannister against the Northern threat who threatened the Westerlands itself.

House Banefort

Titles: Lord of Banefort

Primary Seat: Banefort

Estimated Manpower (Max Potential): 1,000

Significant Characters: Quenten Banefort (Riverrun, hostage)

Recent History: (Due to their lack of information, I allowed Boney some freedom with the history of the house so here is what he has provided: here)

Beyond the Wall

Titles: King-Beyond-the-Wall

Primary Seat: None
Significant Characters: Mance Rayder (Milkwater)Tormund (Milkwater), Styr, Magnar of
Thenn (Milkwater)

Estimated Manpower (Max Potential): 10,000

Recent History: Mance Rayder was once a man of the Night’s Watch, but he soon abandoned his post following a demand to give up a cloak which was no longer black and spent years uniting the wildling clans. He gained their trust through a variety of means and became a King through proving his strength to the wildest men Westeros had to offer, but as he did this he learned of threats beyond the Wall long forgotten. With a host of wildlings, he sought to move south and make their way to the other side of the Wall where they too had protection from what was coming, something the Night’s Watch had pledged to prevent.

Brotherhood Without Banners

Titles: None

Primary Seat: Hollow Hill and other various locations in the Riverlands

Significant Characters: Lord Beric Dondarrion, Gendry, Lem Lemoncloak, Thoros of Myr, Harwin, Jack-Be-Lucky, Edric Dayne, Anguy the Archer, the Mad Huntsman

Estimated Manpower (Max Potential): 300

Recent History: The Brotherhood Without Banners is a group of men who have bound together to defend the smallfolk of Westeros from the Lords who have continually abused them. They fight for King Robert Baratheon who was the King they had sworn to defend and fight for when Eddard Stark sent them to put an end to the terror of Gregor Clegane in the Riverlands. Although many have reported having killed him before, Beric Dondarrion seemingly cannot die and has returned to life through the will of the Red God. The true numbers of the Brotherhood are unknown and how large they could grow is also unknown, and similarly, their location much of the time is also unknown as they move in secrecy throughout the Riverlands defending the smallfolk from whoever may terrorize them.

House Banefort of the Banefort.

Lord Quenten had been held a hostage for a while now in Riverrun. Why of course, a Lord of the Westerlands would probably be valuable, negotiation wise, but Quenten had his own plans. Within his cell, he banged on the bars quietly, trying to get the attention of any Tully men. “Ey... Open up ‘ere, lads. Let me speak to ye lord. C’mon. Tell him I ‘ave an idea for a deal!”

Depending on Lord Tully’s... Mercy or the like. Quenten sat there, hoping the Maester would take heed to the orders Lord Banefort had assigned him. Maester Rewis was a wise man, so Quenten fully trusts him.

ACTIONS (EFFECTED BY MAESTER REWIS):

A letter of ransom is sent to Lord Tully for the Lord Banefort via a mounted courier as opposed to a raven [Mod and Tully. Mod for time of travel and stuff].

- House Banefort is left with explicit orders from Lord Quenten before he was taken hostage to NOT rally under any circumstances to the Lord Paramount’s call.

(Since I’m a hostage, not much to do just yet)

Harrenhal, a place of massive proportions. And yet even that had not saved the Ironborn from dragon fire. But it was 299 now, and the war of the Five Kings. Dragons and Targaryens had no place in this new world. Instead the Great Houses were left to their own devices. And House Lannister was the dominant power now. Members of the House sit the Iron Throne, command armies, regents, kings-guard, Lannisters had their claws in every pot. Lord Tywin Lannister gives the massive castle one last look. Then he turns his back on it, face blank. Arrayed behind him is the host of the West, in all it’s glory.

Ser Adam Marbrand was long gone, leading his outriders. Gregor Clegane, Ser Amory Lorch, and Vargo Hoat are fully unleashed. They will plunder and burn the river lands wherever Tywin marches. The message to the Tully’s is very clear. The Lannisters were destroying their lands, and killing their people. And they were coming straight for the River Crossings near Riverrun. Tywin, Kevan, Crakehall, and other notables will stay in the main host or rear guard.

As the Lannisters advance, it is at a leisurely stride. They will keep their baggage well secured, and the route back open. They take their time to plunder the countryside. As they drew closer, a War Council is held to finally lay all matters to rest...

lannister.jpg

Assembled near the giant silk tents and fires is the Lords of the West. Lannister, Crakehall, Brax, Clegane, Lefford, Lydden, Marbrand, Payne, and many more. They were arranged on benches, facing Tywin Lannister. To his right as always, Kevan Lannister. To his left, Ser Robert Brax. Guards line the area, and food and drink is served. Kevan begins;

“Our esteemed Lords of the West, let us pray to the Seven before we proceed.” A long and solemn pause ensues as the Lords all pray and think privately. “We near Riverrun, and the Crossings. We will march through the crossings, to go home.”

At this a clamor is heard, many shouting to be heard. A Lefford shouts that the Tully’s are right here. Others argue they should stay in Harenhal, or march on King’s Landing. One even suggest just going away. The shouting dies in a split second, when one man clears his throat. Lord Tywin Lannister, Hand of the King, rises. The Lord’s all kneel, as he begins.

“That Stark threatens all of our Land and Income. My daughter sees fit to order me, and have us march on King’s Landing while there is no clear threat. Yet others I see want different routes. The course is set. We march on the crossings, to go home. It is the Starks who are our concern. If Kings Landing deems it fit to send us no news, then we will not wait for them like sheep. We will smash the Tully host, and return to our homes. To protect our hearths, harvest our grain, rest, and resupply. Even now I have sent ravens to all of our castellans left behind. They will raise a new host, to meet ours. We will march for home”

With this rare speech, the Lords rose to their feet and cheered with great volume. Many in their hearts had wanted to head home, but none admit it. With no news from King’s Landing, Tywin has decided to act. Ravens fly to many sources, and gold flows.

The Boy King

The Crownlands

Joffrey Baratheon, the First of His Name sat on the Iron Throne, lazing about. Today was a particularly boring day for the Boy-King, and tormenting his beloved, stupid, naive betrothed Sansa was no longer possible lest he suffer another one of his uncle Tyrions scoldings in front of court, this angered him of course. He was annoyed as well, his mother had denied him the right to lead his own troops south to smash his traitor uncles Stannis and Renly, though it seemed they would do it themselves. The idiots had decided to fight eachother, good, let them both die.

Just then, one of his stewards approached, one of his mother’s creatures Joffrey supposed; or the spiders, or Littlefingers or perhaps even his waddling monstrous dwarvish uncle Tyrion. “Your Grace, the pretender Renly Baratheon is dead. Slain at Storms End, St-” He informed his King with a small bow but Joffrey started to giggle, interrupting him, then he laughed. “So, all his traitorous supporters are dead as well?” He asked with a sneer. “No, your Grace, only Renly died. We’ve heard he was either killed by one of his own Knights, by an unknown assassin or by magic. The Stormlords flock to his banner, and a few houses from the Reach as well.” He finished.

Joffrey flustered with anger, only Renly dead!? His damned Uncle, had somehow gained an army? “Begone.” He waved his hand to the steward, who bowed once move and scuttled out of sight. Joffrey scanned the crowd for Sansa, who winced under his royal gaze. “Ser Meryn, bring her to me.” He commanded his Kingsguard, who did as he was told and grabbed ahold of Joffrey’s bride to be; dragging her before him, he could not beat her in line with what Tyrion had done to him when he tried to do it before. “Lady Sansa, my uncle Renly has been killed at Storms End and half his host has gone over to my other no less irritating uncle Stannis. Does this news gladden you? Happy that the ironwilled stubborn Stannis is coming to rescue you?” He snarled, hiding his anger to torment this mewling little girl. “Your grace, no. I am to be your future wife,” She showed clear contempt in the word ‘wife’, Joffrey furrowed his brows,  “Stannis would execute me for that, I am loyal to you, my one true love.” She did a curtsy, Joffrey smiled at this, for all her lack of wits; she knew how to please him. “Very well then, you are excused,” He waved her away.

Joffrey then summoned a meeting of the small counsel, to discuss what to do with the recent events. When they arrived, and his uncle Tyrion last (having arrived irritatingly fashionably late) Joffrey announced his intentions. “My leal privy counsillers, I plan to ride south and smash my uncle Stannis with the city Watch.” He gave a grin, but was immediately met with a flurry of protests. “Your grace,” Began Varys in his usual drawl. “That would be most unwise, Stannis has the larger army and with our own people prone to rioting over food shortages in Kings Landing it is necessary our troops remain here to keep the peace.”

The Boy-King looked sullen at his defeat, ŧhen he nodded stiffly at Vary’s proposal. His mother then chimed in. “My love, we cannot face Stannis on the open field. Let him come to us, siege preparations are being made. We must first secure the people of the city to our cause, send out propaganda stating that Stannis is a heathen who wants to burn down the sept of Baelor, we must continue to spin the story that he was cuckolded by a jester and the city watches numbers will be increased by a sizable amount.” She looked over at Tyrion, who had the Lord Commander of the Watch in his pocket, the dwarf nodded at her proposal, then he spoke. “In regard to Renly’s former supporters from the reach; most notably the Tyrells. We could very well use their support, they’d have no love for Stannis considering Renly’s dubious murder and how Stannis profited so much from it, especially considering how ‘affectionate’ Loras Tyrell was towards Renly.” He suggested, adding his last comment with a smile. Renly and Loras’s relationship was perhaps the worst kept secret in court, everyone knew they buggered eachother.

Joffrey shook his head. “The Tyrells are traitors, they will be executed for their treason.” He stated his intentions clearly. “Joffrey, my dear, I counsel patience.” His mother interrupted. “True, they sided with Renly, but now Renly is dead. We must put that grevious offence aside and approach it in the future. The Tyrells have many swords in their service, swords which could be used against Stannis.” She reminded him, Joffrey consented with a nod. “Excellent.” Tyrion broke in, glancing at his sister who had actually supported him for once. “We must best send a privy counciller to treat with Mace Tyrell at Bitterbridge.”

“Perhaps you should go brother, you are the King’s hand after all. You speak with his voice.” Cersei reminded him with a false smile. “Such a delightful proposal, however, as you said. I am the King’s Hand, what use is the King's hand if he is not by the King’s side. I will remain here, in the capital. Lord Baelish I suggest you should go.” He looked over at Littlefinger. “You honour me, my lord,” Littlefinger gave a curt nod. “That’s settled then, you shall have a small escort Littlefinger, Now, does anyone else have anything to discuss?” He looked around the room, nothing. “Good, we are adjourned.” He stood up, and waddled out the room. Joffrey watched him go darkly.

House Reed

latest?cb=20170523031146

Spoiler

Howland Reed stands aloft on the edge of Greywater Watch, inch by inch the castle drifts through the shifting streams before it. Howland contemplates the battles to come, and the defence of the Causeway. Jyana strolls to Howland and he puts his arm around her.

“The time has come, my love. The Peat, Fenn, and Cray have arrived and are conversing with the Greenseers.

Ned’s boy will be expecting the Causeway secure.”

“Of course, we mustn't let the boy down.”

Howland and Jyana walk through spiraling paths and in towards the inner chamber of the small castle and take their seats. Before them are arrayed seven Houses, Greenseers, and others. These Crannogmen are small with gamely figures and hunched backs, but these men and women are some of the finest warriors in the Neck. Not knights, but hunters.

The crowd kneels before the couple.

"To Greywater we pledge our faith. Hearth and harvest and we yield up to you, my lord. Our swords and spears and arrows are yours to command. Grant mercy to our weak, help to our helpless, and justice to all, and we shall never fail you."

"We swear it by earth and water" The Greenseers and healers recite.

"We swear it by bronze and iron" The Houses recite.

"We swear it by ice and fire."

“Thank you, you may sit. As you all know, tomorrow, the men of the swamp will make way in seven parties to different locations along the Causeway. Each shall carry with them caches of arrows and poisons to be stored for later. Preparations and traps shall be made and set along the Causeway. At the passing of three moons, you should all return to your hearths and continue preparation for winter as you have been. Only Edric Peat, and his two hundred volunteers shall stalk the Causeway and act quickly shall an invader set foot on our road. Are there any questions?”

The men of the room blast into long conversations, having not seen one another in years, this lasts through a modest feast of Lizard Lions and into the wee hours of the morning. The host of nearly two thousand Crannogmen slithers into the undergrowth, hopping over mud pits and rowing through bogs. The Crannogmen, unbeknownst to any traveler or foreign King, line the narrow Road with arrows and spears, as Ravens watch from above.

Actions

- The Crannogmen are sent forth to trap the Causeway and store weapons for later use, then return home.

- Two hundred volunteers under Edric Peat are sent to watch over the Causeway until further notice, ensuring that no enemy goes through unmolested.

Brotherhood without Banners

latest?cb=20170531015541

Anguy  watched, hidden in the bushes, as he saw a host of Lannisters walk post. As he saw some of the men from the distance he could not help but shiver in disgust. Not the standard foot, they were probaply just normal farmers forced to fight for the Lannisters, but rather the men leading them. He could not help but feel the urge to shoot his bow when he saw men like Vargo Hoat also know as ‘the goat’ or the mountain that rides. Especially as he watched as they slaughtered or raped people who got caught by them. Yet he knew that if he fired an arrow he would be signing his own death warrant. Though to be fair, he was probaply on some wanted poster already.

After observing the Dreadful Duo (Gregor & Vargo) Anguy headed towards the main camp. Walking through about three miles of dense foliage. Nearly impassable for Lannister heavy infantry and especially the mountain. There he arrived at a small camp site hidden amongst the bushes. Almost impossible to be seen or found if you did not know of it’s location. Here the Brotherhood Without Banners was gathered. Sitting on a few logs that were placed on a circle. Talking to each other, telling tales and generally complaining about the weather. One man in particulair stood out from the rest, partly by his authority but mostly by his eye-patch. That man quickly turned to Anguy as he entered the clearing and motioned him closer.

Anguy did so and soon stood in front of his captain, Beric Dondarrion. Beric spoke to Anguy, his voice concentrated and focused “What did you see Anguy ?

To which Anguy quickly responded. “The Lannister host is heading towards Riverfarm. A small village.” Beric nodded, registering this and thinking intimately about what he heard. He then spoke. “Warn the village of the approaching Lannisters, and tell Lem to take 20 men to help evacuate those who wish to leave.” Anguy nodded at this.

Whilst Beric was not an absolute ruler like the lords his commands were still heeded. Due to him having the most experience out of all of them and the right attitude to lead. However, they differed from the lords due to each member of the Brotherhood being allowed to give their own opinion and speak. Whilst this made deciding on some major issues longer it also allowed them to have the insight which might otherwise not be noticed.

Then Beric spoke again. “We cannot fight the Lannisters directly for now. Their troops are too many and formidable whilst we are few in number. Whilst their convoys are too well protected to ambush efficiently. We can give them some nice surprises though.

By now the attention of those around the clearing had all started shifting solely on Beric “We shall poision the water wells on the path of the mountain. The poison will probaply dissipate soon enough but it will at least mean the mountain is inconvenienced, even that some of his men dies. And even one dead man of the mountain could be the difference between a family staying alive or dying.

Then Beric looked outwards to the host, which was now obscured by a long distance and a large forest. Thinking about the mountain that rides. As he thought of him Beric could not help but make his hand wander to his chest. Where he felt at the patch of wild flesh that sat where once a lance had been. A lance put there by the mountain. He should have died then and there, he did die then and there. Yet for some reason he had been allowed to live, whilst others were not, why, what would make him different from King Robert or -. His thoughts were interrupted by Thoros putting a hand on his shoulder. The once drunken, now devout priest smiled at him. Probaply guessing at what he was thinking off just now.

Beric released a breath he had been holding, he closed his eyes and when they opened again they were filled with conviction. “The mountain might burn the Riverland but I’ll be doomed if he doesn’t get some burns himself.

Actions

Beric travels through the Riverland. Warning villages of coming raiding parties and helping them evacuate. [MOD]

Whilst he is doing that Berick begins setting up smaller ‘branches’ of the brotherhood. With each Branch working independently, focusing on sabotaging Lannister war efforts by whatever means they find suitable. As well as others who mistreat the smallfolk. [MOD]

Whilst on the move the main group of the brotherhood is trained in archery by Anguy and other former huntsmen, rangers or poachers. Due to the bow being an effective weapon that can easily be made. Thus training each men of the Brotherhood to be at least able to hold a bow whilst a dedicated corps of ‘elite’ bowmen is created under the guidance of Anguy. Who could be considered to be the best bowmen of the Seven Kingdoms. [MOD]

[!] The seat of The Reach, Highgarden

Mace Tyrell, Lord Paramount of the Reach and Lord of Highgarden, was accustomed to his mother’s scoldings. It was no different as the sun rose this morning, matriarch and son feasting early upon roasted ham with honey sauce and fresh greens from their vast farms and gardens. Olenna Tyrell wrapped at her son’s fingers to get his attention.

”Are you listening? I should have hit you more as a child, you know! It would’ve prepared you for having to hear through all of that FAT you gained later.” His elderly mother would purse her lips, “Now, it would seem that Cersei Lannister has sent some small lord or other, Petyr Baelish, to speak to our dear Margaery.”

Mace would nod, more intrigued by the small leg of ham that he grasped tightly in his hand than what his mother was saying. He watched her with dull brown eyes as she stamped a letter she had been hurrying away at with their family seal, passing it off to a page boy waiting just off in the corner. She took a sip of freshly-poured iced milk before continuing.

”I’ve called back most of the men back to Highgarden, but granted a good 20,000 to Loras to keep guard at Bitterbridge whilst all of this mess is sorted with Lord Baelish and our little flower. She knows of all of this, my Margaery, I was sure to send a raven before sunrise. She has my instructions, and she’ll do what needs to be done.”

HOUSE CRAKEHALL

Lord: Roland Crakehall

Notable Members: Roland Crakehall (Heir), Ser Tybolt Crakehall (Heir),

Ser Lyle ‘the Strongboar’ Crakehall (Roland’s 2nd Son), Ser Merlon Crakehall (3rd Son),

Ser Burton Crakehall (Roland’s Brother)

Allegiance: House Lannister

____________________________________________________

The lands of Crakehall were at peace. For now, the smallfolk tended to their duties. The harvesting of the winter wheat was occuring - at least, what little crop could be scrounged. Though the lands of the Rock were not as lush, nor bountiful as others, the peasantry had made their living for centuries untold. Yet today would bring the normality in Crakehall, to a crashing end. A lone black raven, bearing a small scroll, bounded through the southern lands through turf and toil. After what one would assume to be a harrowing journey, the bird had sought out the aviary at Crakehall, eager to unlimber it’s urgent message.

Maester Harbrand would be the one to receive the message; an aged man with a crook in his back and his hairline receding ever so further grey. He hobbled over to table in which the raven rested, using a simple cane to support his weight, tapping on the wooden floor with soft clanks. The maester untied the note, eyeing the stamp of the Lion of Lannister. His interest piqued, though knew it not within his station to peer into such matters. Calling for a nearby guard, he asked them to bring the message to Lord Roland, stopping for nothing as it held utmost importance.

Castle Crakehall, Seat of House Crakehall

By the time the message had reached Lord Roland, the role of courier had shifted from one man to another; the Master-at-arms of Crakehall, a lowly knight of the name Lewys Glenmore. For reasons unknown, the previous holded shirked the duty and offloaded it onto another. Regardless Ser Lewys, a man of no fear and larger than life, made haste to the great hall, which he surmised the men of Crakehall to currently be dining.

The master-at-arms, or someone had broken the seal during transit. However, it was of no matter now. Ser Lewys entered the great hall, which was lavish and had food aplenty. Graced by outdoor light, the brindled boar of Crakehall flew proudly at the center, just above the Lord’s throne. Below the throne, and at the feasting tables were Lord Roland, flanked by his sons who were all knights in their own right, Tybolt, Lyle, and Merlon, as well as his brother, Ser Burton Crakehall. Lewys strode into the chamber with confident strides, turning to the group of Crakehall men.  “My Lords Crakehall, I bring urgent news.”

It was apparent that Lord Roland had not been eating, and merely entertained the members of his family. On the other hand, his sons dug greedily into their meals, tearing flesh away from bone, shoving forkfuls into their mouths, and speaking while chewing. They paid Roland no mind, perhaps a short glance. Tybolt gestured him over, laughing as food and spittle flew from his mouth. Roland heeded his trusted master-at-arms, calling out to him, “Can it not wait?”

“No, My Lord.” he bows his head, presenting the scroll, “A call to arms to by Lord Tywin Lannister. The Westerlands are at war.” he states with a grim undertone.

“Took damned long enough.” scoffed Ser Lyle, who had taken enough time away from wolfing down his meal to attend to important matters.

“I see…” said, Lord Roland, rising from his seat. “Give it here.” he urged, taking the note from the knight. He quickly read it over, and nodded, “I see. We must make the necessary arrangements at once. Raise the levy; we set out at dawn.” he announced to his family, then casting his gaze upon his children in disapproval, “Finish your meal while you have it. It may be your last.”

ACTIONS

  • Lord Roland Crakehall orders a force of some  4,500 men be raised.

  • Crakehall and his sons set out to join the main Lannister host.

  • 50 men are left garrison Crakehall castle itself, while another 50 patrol the Sea Road to protect travelers and trade.

(Winterfell and wintertown from the south side of the castle)

After victory at oxcross Robb stark stood on a rock, surrounded by his men. He gathered everyone and then spoke.

“We have made many great gains. Won battles. This was just another victory in the war against the Lannisters. We will make them pay for the murder of my father and the kidnapping of my sister, and pushing my brother Bran out of a window attempting to kill him and crippling him for life. Once we win.. then we will be free to decide our own fate. Free to rule amongst ourselves and no longer have to bend the knee to some king halfway across Westeros who doesn’t give a damn about you, or your families. But I do.. And I want to get all of you back home to your families and friends to finally put down the sword and pick up the plow once more. My friends we are all Northmen are we not? It seems the whole world has it out for us. Always wanting to own and control us. And some may even try to turn us against each other but in the end All of us Northmen, we’re family. And I will defend my family to my last breath. All I can ask of  you is to continue to accompany me through this war and do the same for me.

I won’t lie to you, this war will be long.. And costly. And Brutal. People are going to die that we love. But we have to keep fighting, because if we don’t then all our sacrifices, and our loved ones sacrifices will have been for nothing. And the Lannisters.. They will not take it easy on us. After the war  I have no doubt we would be completely destroyed for this war. Don’t go easy on the enemy. Make this war hard for them. Kill any Lannister soldier you find. Don’t hesitate, because they won’t.Whether we win or lose... *he pauses for a moment*

we’ll kill them all or we’ll die trying..”

Upon finishing his speech the men starting cheering and chanting and the whole field erupted like an explosion with many different things being shouted into a mixture of “ KILL THEM ALL!”, “DEATH TO THE LANNISTERS!”,  “WE’RE WITH YOU MY KING!”

Robb and his men rested for a few days before continuing their march.  He had letters sent to all the Houses in the north asking them to continue sending them as many men as they could and to join them in his fight to get revenge for his father's murder, and to free the north so that it may rule itself.

Furthermore  a raven is sent to Winterfell asking for men to be trained to garrison the castle and build defenses in case any Lannister men make it up north and try to attack it.

The Capture of Storm’s End - 8/7

Storm’s End, seat of the ancient Storm Kings and ancestral home of Stannis Baratheon had fallen without much a fight. Little is known as to why the Castellan threw himself from a tower, perhaps it was the pressure or stress, or maybe the guilt in knowing he resisted the true king of Westeros. However his successor was right of mind, and surrendered the fortress the following morning.

The seat of power in the Stormlands and the final bastion of resistance to Stannis’s rule had finally been crushed. Now, he stood unchallenged, his ancestral home now justly his own. But he was far from satisfied, the War of the Five Kings still raged despite the first succumbing to treachery, and he would not rest till the rightful heir is placed upon the Iron Throne.

(Storm’s End, the seat of Baratheon power)

Consolidation of the Stormlands- 8/9

Even after the fall of Storm’s End, the numerous lords and vassals of the Stormlands remain stubborn. Ravens are dispatched to every corner of the region, to every castle and town. Submit to Stannis Baratheon, the true King of Westeros or be subdued at his hand.

Those who see reason, are rewarded with positions of power, leadership, and council within the new Stormlands.

Storm’s End- 8/10

Stannis’s war council gathered deep in the halls of Storm’s End, one of the most formidable strongholds throughout the 7 kingdoms. Before them a map of the Stormlands and its surrounding territories. The planning carried on deep into the night, with seldom room for rest.

Though the work was well worth it, the following morning orders are carried throughout the Baratheon host. King’s Landing will fall..

As the host departs the recently won Storm’s End, a single excerpt from King Stannis’s speech resonates with them all.

"I defeated Victarion and his Iron Fleet off Fair Isle. I held Storm's End against the power of the Reach for a year, and took Dragonstone from the Targaryens. Tell me, what battles has this Boy-king, this product of incest ever won that I should fear him?”

-King Stannis and his mighty war host depart from Storm’s End, off to campaign in the Stormlands

A Game of Thrones

Winterfell has fallen to a group of Ironborn Raiders led by Theon Greyjoy! Reports indicate that after going to deal with raiders at Torrhen’s Square, the Castellan of Winterfell departed the castle to take care of the threat. By the time he returned to the castle it had fallen to Theon who had planned the ploy to draw out the garrison. A small host was now amassing in the north and preparing to liberate the castle from the Ironborn threat. No word has been heard from the Stark children in days.

Additionally, news of the fall of Moat Caitlin and Deepwood Motte make their way south shortly after, with Victarion and Asha Greyjoy taking the castles, respectively. Despite Robb Stark’s victories in the south, the north is plagued with Ironborn raiders and many fear that their holdings will be next.

Riots break out in King’s Landing due to the lack of bread entering the city! Following the closure of the Rose Road by Mace Tyrell, food had stopped flowing into the city and even bread prices skyrocketed. Most of those living in the slums of King’s Landing could hardly tell what they were eating. As the Lords and Ladies of the Red Keep spent yet another day of luxury at the docks, seeing Myrcella off to her newly betrothed in Dorne.

As they returned to the castle, riots broke out at the foot of Aegon’s High Hill, with the trouble beginning with animal feces being hurled at His Grace, King Joffrey. In the initial conflict some are thought to be dead or worse, though the King and his betrothed, Lady Sansa were safely returned to the castle. Among those known to be dead include the Master of Arms of the Red Keep, Aron Santagar, Ser Preston Greenfield of the Kingsguard, and the High Septon. Lady Lollys of House Stokeworth was found brutally abused and is suspected to be carrying the bastard of an unknown peasant. Tyrek Lannister, the nephew to the Lord of Casterly rock, has not been seen since the day of the riots. The Gold Cloaks managed to quell the riot and calm the city, but without the quick arrival of food, it was only expected to worsen.

The Battle of the Fords results in a Tully victory and sees the Lannister Host repelled from their attempted crossing at the Red Fork. They were last seen returning east.

Harrenhal has fallen to the northern invaders with ease. Rumors spread by the smallfolk of the Riverlands indicate the castle fell with the help of a weasel.

Storm’s End is surrendered to the Baratheon Host with no struggle following the strange death of Ser Courtney Penrose.

House Banefort of Banefort

A Letter would later come to House Banefort. It reads.  "We will not accept a ransom until further notice, he won't be harmed." - Ser Edmure Tully

Despite Lord Tywin’s request, House Banefort does not send men to Seagard.

House Lannister of Casterly Rock

Roughly 7,500 men form up in [secret], though they are battered and without much proper leadership besides Ser Broom.

Lord Gregor Clegane and Vargo Hoat’s Bloody Mummers set the Riverlands aflame and many flee their homes in anticipation of their attack as they progress through the south. This leaves the southern Riverlands a burnt and barren stretch of land water supply was now also tainted. Where the peasants fled to remains unclear.

Outriders report starvation and rioting in King’s Landing. Some reports brought later in the month claim that Storm’s End has fallen.

The navy rallies in Lannisport but despite Tywin’s call, it remains mostly dormant. The Starks were known for their lack of a navy since the age of Brandon the Burner. Despite this, ships often kept an eye out for the Kraken of House Greyjoy.

House Baratheon of King’s Landing

As the numbers of the City Watch rise, their morale and faith decrease. The size of the force is able to increase to 5,000, but the large size means that the men are less reliable than had been in the past. For now, the Commander of the Watch spends his time attempting to hammer some discipline into the men.

The propaganda spread through the city has some effect, although the peasants are hungry and care little for who is their King. Whoever feeds King’s Landing would swiftly gain their favor.

[Ongoing]

The city walls are soon lined with the catapults, scorpions, and trebuchets which would be used in the defense of the city. The City Watch is quickly trained to operate the new weaponry, though not much of the Watch manage it with proficiency.

Wildfire is secretly produced in unknown quantities by the Guild.

House Karstark of Karhold

The Night’s Watch receives news of the men and they are able to man the Wall by the end of the eighth month.

House Reed of Greywater Watch

The Causeway through the Neck soon becomes a deathtrap created and only known to the Crannogmen. With the Ironmen taking Moat Caitlin, few have attempted to use the Neck for travel since Robb Stark traveled south.

The two hundred volunteers are easily raised and used in the defense of the Causeway. For the time there is little beyond the wildlife to trouble them.

House Bolton of the Dreadfort

Lord Walder accepts the marriage and Walda Frey soon becomes Walda Bolton.

[See Westerosi Events/War Channels]

Reports from the Dreadfort indicate that Ramsay Snow has been killed and his servant Reek was captured by the Stark’s. Lady Hornwood’s holdings are to be seized by Rodrik Cassel until a decision can be made regarding who should succeed the recently murdered widow.

House Tully of Riverrun

For now, the River Lords opt to send no more men, they are needed for the harvest and it is believed that the current Tully Host was more than sufficient.

Smallfolk arrive at Riverrun in droves, and soon it becomes overwhelming. The food supply of the keep can hardly feed them all. When Edmure Tully returns from battle, he finds that his Castellan has turned out any new smallfolk out of fear that the castle will be overrun.

Brotherhood Without Banners

Although the first villages in the Lannister Host’s path can do little to avoid the Mountain and the Bloody Mummers, as they progressed more villages managed to flee before their arrival.

These branches begin to be quite effective, harassing the Lannister supply chain and in some places, even the Northmen who cared little for the Riverland small folk. These branches would grow in size as the smallfolk who were turned away from Riverrun and some who were run out of their homes would seek refuge with the Brotherhood.

Work starts slow, as Anguy is only one man, but the core brotherhood begins to improve in their archery skills in the next month. Many become capable of hitting a target within a limited distance, and some even manage to become proteges.

House Tyrell of Highgarden

Despite the initial count, only 60,000 Reachmen were left in Bitterbridge following Renly’s death, with 40,000 of these men returning to Highgarden. The Florent’s and many of their men defected to Stannis Baratheon, they made up roughly 15,000 men.

Loras arrives in Bitterbridge swiftly with his host.

The raven arrives without trouble, and one is returned with good news.

Lord Petyr Baelish arrives. [See Discord Chat]

House Crakehall of Crakehall

Only 2,000 men are raised as an additional 2,000 already fought with Tywin.

They arrive and meet them near Stoney Sept as Tywin rides east.

The garrison finds little trouble at the moment.

House Stark of Winterfell

Many of the bannermen had already sent their strength, though a force of roughly 3,000 begins to amass at Torrhen Square under Rodrik Cassel. This force will not travel south until Winterfell has been taken. Many houses are reluctant to send more men as they need to prepare for the coming winter but will if pressed.

The raven is received, but little can be done by the time Theon arrives due to the lack of a true garrison remaining in the castle.

Clegane’s Keep burns slowly, but nonetheless burns. The smallfolk do little to prevent the action, though some resistance is received from the personal guard.

House Baratheon of Dragonstone

A large host already exists consisting of Florents and Stormlanders who defected from Renly, but they offer no more men. Some notable houses who have declared for Stannis include House Estermont, House Connington, House Selmy, and House Wylde, while from the Reach House Florent brought both Fossoway branches and some others.

The Host departs Storm’s End in a blaze of glory, yet they arrive in the Kingswood days before the fleet had managed to scramble together after an unexpected storm split Salladhor Saan and the Myrish sellsails from the main fleet.

House Arryn

House Arryn found themselves isolated from the war, with Lysa Tully taking control of much of the family and her son, Lord Robert Arryn. Now the Lords of the Vale amass at the Eyrie with the hope of convincing Lysa to involve herself in the War of the Five Kings with her family who seek to avenge their liege lord, Jon Arryn. Despite this, Lysa insists the Knights of the Vale must remain there to defend their lord. For the time the Vale of Arryn remains neutral in the War of Five Kings though poses a threat to anyone who seeks to threaten them, and their discontent for the Lannisters is well known.
