Zanderaw 161 Share Posted July 18, 2019 (edited) CORRUPTOR DOMINION A particularly massive Corruptor stood at a spaceport, lording over throngs of spiderlings. Some screeched at it in complaint. Others tried to run, and it slapped them down. In the life before, it had never amounted to anything. It lived its life in the shadows, always in poverty, always shunned by “civilized,” “law abiding” citizens. That man took what he could through brute strength, but was always on the run, a menace to society, never recognized for his true superiority. But now…. The spider growled at the crowd passing by. This one had been a banker. That one was a lawyer. And that one, the creature thought, must have been a politician. Look at them now. So weak. So helpless. So useless. These pathetic beings would never corrupt anything, they couldn’t - that task would fall to higher forms of life, whose glory had been revealed in their new forms much like the big Corruptor. The great creature let out a screeching laugh, and pushed one of the weaklings forward toward the shuttle bay, where the destination screen read “ALLOY PRODUCTION FACILITY #1.” If it didn’t die soon, it would at least suffer horrible injuries. A fitting punishment for the crime of being so pathetic. Perhaps these wretched creatures would take comfort in the knowledge that their meager labor supported the ambitions of superior beings. The big Corruptor doubted it. But it didn’t care. Statistics NO EXPENDITURE - The Corruptor frigate once more leaves their space, drifting on a slow, slow course to the east. It listens, and watches for prey. 10R [20 Total] - Interstellar Communications - Work continues trying to find some way to communicate between worlds. The couriers currently forced to take messages grow restless, for they would much rather be fighting than fulfilling this menial task. 100,000 C - Full stack CI - In the colony directly west of the capital, Corruptor society flourishes, such that it is. At any rate, essential roles needed to keep the creatures alive have been filled. 30,000 C - 2x HI - In the colony directly east of the capital, speciality alloys begin to be forged. Perhaps they’ll be needed soon… 18M - 2 Light cruisers - More ships.... 16M - 2 Colony Ships - Expansion awaits! Samoblivion 531 Share Posted July 22, 2019 Talarak Clan 2211 Aware of the drain on resources from the need to maintain ships, and provide gifts and feasts to restive warriors, Talarak Djakai is tempted to order an immediate attack on the alien miners. But no. Caution would be their watch-word here, for these aliens were clearly not primitives like the Libellans. They were like the Talarak, sailors on the sea of stars – this was not their home system or sector. Potentially, this was an outpost of a more powerful alien empire. The Talarak clan was mighty, but also vulnerable. In all the old legends, a hunter must stalk its prey and not charge blindly at it. So would the Talarak. What follows is another year of dividing the spoils of the Libellan raid, contests of strength and skill among the warriors, feasts and festivals to keep the clansmen happy. As well there would be politicking, and the keeping in line of more unruly captains and scoundrels, by gold or lead. Additional ships are prepared for the coming battle, as well as to search for more targets for the marauding fleet. Na-Khadiim, the great star serpent, lies coiled and at rest. For now. GrimBeard 46 Share Posted July 22, 2019 H’Wong Nation The promises the Ha’Wun drive offered were unparalleled in recent H’wong science. It’s discovery and subsequent research has yielded a whole new array of potential. Across the Capital scientest are gathered at the Hive in Temshu to add their knowledge. The first ever model will be built right here. And will be installed in a new ship. It will launch an entirely new breed of Star ships that can travel faster than light. In other more domestic news crowds of H’wong have taken to the delicate sport of racing. Be it gasoline or fusion, official race tracks are seeing increased admissions. It would seem the possibility of such unparalleled speed paired with a recent H’Wong action racing movie has led to quite the stir! In other news the H’Wong navy is taking their next serious step forward in operation. In the chaos of the economic collapse, someone had managed to order two Frigates built. Two years later, and the H’wong finally could stop wincing at the price. This paired with the potential Ha’Wun Drive, Deflectors, and soon to be far more upgrades. The Admiralty can be seen moving back and forth, the Brass having constant back door meetings. It would seem with economic stability, came back the ever present realization of how much needed to get done... The average H’Wong citizen isn’t much focused on where their fleet was pioneering, or what colony had been planted where. They lived simple but luxurious lives in their multiple communities. In the Capital, the citizens, scientist, goverment officials, and troops all mingled in democratic harmony. It was the gem of their Nation, and where all the voting and government process is held. Further out lay the numerous H’wong colonies and mercantile worlds. There the credit of the Nation is three times more then anywhere else. But just as important was the colony pumping out industry for the Nation. Here however conditions were abysmal, and many wanted better mining equipment or robots. Z3r05t4r 854 Author Share Posted July 24, 2019 Turn 12 2212 Map update, see Discord Chat. Space gets smaller with the increasing discovery of technologies to bridge the distances. For the future, it might hold dread and riches alike. Redon Empire Colonies that will soon be thriving in the coming year. A world rich of plant and animal life, nothing extraordinarily challenging or dangerous, mostly made for peaceful farming and infrastructure. Or meditation. That is important for the balance of every warrior. And a world of tall and high mountains, dangerous to climb and explore, but full of riches in the far reaching caverns and caves of its crust. Back at home, the warfleet grows, as there is a potential friend or foe, yet to be decided upon. Republic of Korinth The scientists struggle to find the right approach, and quite a few paths are being followed upon, mostly to end up in dead ends. It appears to be a very unsuccessful year for the researchers of the Republic. Democratic Laconian Systems For space is dark and empty. The exploration vessels find nothing of note, systems here and there, some with planets, very few viable for long term colonization. The Tintra have encountered the Fareen Interstellar Empire. Going by rumors and little news that trickle out of the Tintra embassy on the DLS homeworld, the relations are not very warm between the two opposing ideologies. Given, the Tintra just had a war behind them, so their cold shoulder should be understandable. U N I O N T H U L È E N E The Rontan situation continues to deteriorate and barely any success is present from the increased attempts and efforts of the Union. The exploration vessels find nothing first, except... for a star system with a planet that appears to be dotted in huge formations of a dense fleshlike rock. Aside from looking morbidly disgusting, it might be of interest. The Republic of Tassarea And the increased investments bring more advertisement and more contact with the Protorians. And already the first hybrid girl has been born. The news ripple through both nations, an astounding development for the scientific community, which assumed that the races were incompatible. Biologically that is. Proven wrong again, by the end of the year, there were twenty of them already. (+20 Tassarean-Protorian; +35,000 Protorians from migration; -10,000 Tassareans from emigration) The exploration vessel encounters what appears to be a deposit of a strange grey goo-like substance on a very rocky planet in a system there. It does have a nearby habitable world, a very forest covered world, which has no interesting resources to offer. A Protorian exploration vessel is encountered in the very system too, surveying the grey substance. They exchange greetings and hails, before continuing on. The ruins prove to have been an old barracks of some kind. The weapons found inside appear to be utilizing energy to fabricate some kind of plasma beam. CORRUPTOR DOMINION The Corrupters are growing. A tidal wave in the making, as they continue to toil on, screech, scream, scratch and hurt eachother. They want more. Perfection like themselves. And the others are out there, waiting to receive it. The communication technology makes no gains this year as the scientists groups have to be replaced with more focused and likeminded individuals. The Antebellum Corporation If they had managed to research such communication devices sooner it would have been better. Very late in the year, as the vessels return to refuel and report in, they come with message (separately) that they have encountered not one, but TWO foreign species, that were already in strong contact with eachother. They kept their distance and went unresponsive for the most part to avoid detection. UNION OF SOVIET SOCIALIST PLANETARY REPUBLICS The mineral proves to be the most resilient material known to man so far. All attempts at mining it have simply... failed. Talarak Clan A big freighter shows up during this time an loads up the substantial load of refined minerals before warping towards the galactic north. The small mining crafts continue gnawing, else there is no activity to be seen in the system, aside from another smaller freighter showing up to dock and apparently stock the station with necessary fuel and supplies. It does leave in the same direction too. Stealth is stealthy. Nothing yet. H’Wong Nation And the Ha’wun drive it is. As the colony ship departs, in company of the warships, the female scientist downstairs achieves a breakthrough, allowing the H’wong to sail the stars with haste, shortening the time needed to traverse the vast emptiness. (T1 Ha’wun Drive gained) The colony ship arrives late in the year, setting down on a world covered in grass, being surprisingly flat, having barely any oceans. Devland99 180 Share Posted July 24, 2019 (edited) Democratic Laconian Systems The Politicians visibly buzzed over the livenet of Laconia as news came in to the establishment of a trade treaty with the Tintrans. Applause erupted as the speaker of the house announced their formal signature upon his return to the room, a new dawn in the galaxy for Humanity on this side of it at least. Immediately areas were cleared and added to allow for alien ships to land to load and unload cargo, business halls being built to handle the traffic and hotels prospering greatly from the influx of citizens. Disregarded for the most part by the warhawks, the discovery of yet a SECOND alien nation was cause for concern and soon they proposed a new ship design brought up by the navy. The idea of bringing the carrier from the ocean was nothing new but presented to congress in hopes for government funding, it was becoming a reality. Only capable of carrying 50 strike craft, the support carrier class is a mighty boon for the navy allowing it to be much more precise in their maneuvers. Business was booming in the alloy industry as five more massive refineries appear on the newly colonized world of Swiften, millions of people relocated to experience the ‘gold rush’ of the era as jobs were abundant and lucrative due to the extremely dangerous conditions these people might face. GrimBeard 46 Share Posted July 25, 2019 (edited) H’Wong Nation Across the world of Temshu, the drumming of boots rings the streets. Vendors open early in anticipation of the crowds, clamoring for good spots. H’Wong on balconies in their tenant buildings eagerly awaited. And eventually the crowds swelled to hundreds, then thousands, and finally millions. The bustling Capital was the bastion of scientific endeavor in [as far as they know] the galaxy. To celebrate this, a parade was being hosted on the streets around the Hive. The Hive itself this year was being renovated with even more research facilities, to expand the frontier of knowledge opening up like a book. Every year progress is made in astounding leaps and bounds. On the ground level, 100,000 H’Wong composing the Citizen Volunteer Corp, and a further 20,000 odd Police and Garrison troops marched in splendid order. In the typical utilitarian Greatcoats buttoned up the side and trousers, these troops were marching to an armory. There they are symbolically handing in their ‘outdated’ Kinetic rifles. They are promised the Nation will instead provide them something far better next year. Most of these troops after being kitted out were soon to be deployed to their local commands. The growing nation had ever more need of troops and ships. Though they seemed alone in the Galaxy, safe borders were safe borders! To top it all off, the Navy flies their ships above the capital. Massive screens show them flying in formation with Deflector shields fully activated. They do some maneuvers, fire off some salvos, then array for the finale. One by one, they blink out of space. Samoblivion 531 Share Posted July 28, 2019 Talarak Clan 2212 Prior to the planned raid on the mining system, a somewhat unexpected piece of legislation comes about – a Constitution for the Talarak Clan. Whereas previously the mothership and its fleet were ruled with an iron fist by Djakai, the founder of their outcast clan has relinquished some of his power to a council of ship captains and war leaders. Power is held in essentially the same balance as before, Djakai as lord and master of the clan and the leaders amongst the throng of warriors and kin groups alotted power, but now this is enshrined in law. Or, as close to “law” as this society can get. Which is to say “the man with the most guns and men to carry those guns says what’s what.” Also enshrined are more populist concepts, such as the right to arbitration in matters of crime and greivance – though, again, definitions of crime are somewhat skewed for pirates. Every clan member is free to own their own property, sharing out of loot among raiders is codified and incentivises “honest” reporting of takings, and all are given the right to be heard by their peers. It becomes clear that most of these “laws” are simply codifications of things that happen anyway aboard ship. Now, however, this is monitored and turned to the good of the Clan. From disemination of ideas, free enterprise among ship-mates, more “honest” accounting of loot, and the passing down of engineering knowledge, many benefits come from these reforms. But soon, battle comes. Engines scream and guns blaze in glory.
