(27M) - The two exploration ships explore the sectors surrounding the mothership. Not for targets this time, but for safe harbour, and a possible trading partner. Stealth systems engaged, of course. - It occurs that 5 Ka’cezh hatchlings have been born this year from fraternisation of the enthralled Ka’cezh miners. After some debate, and the Talarak’s somewhat paradoxical focus on self-determination, the hatchlings are not the enthralled property of the Alduu’uuranean kin-groups who run the civilian mining ships. They are, legally speaking, free and capable of joining full Talarak society when becoming of age. - New research! With a working stealth system, research shifts to the deflector technology “acquired” from the Ka’cezh. All research is funneled into making a working version for installation across the fleet. As well as the ripped out deflector modules themselves, the scientists have access to sensor data from combat with Ka’cezh ships and the shielded mining station with which to assist their research. The goal is to turn its engines on to full blast and brute force through enemy defenses with speed and armor. Then, without minimal deceleration, it is to crash into the target location, causing enough of a shockwave to clear out surrounding defenses before unloading its troops and drones. The troops fight while the drones retrieve broken droids and materials from the surrounding area to produce more droids. -Once it has crash-landed it cannot be brought back into orbit, but it can be recycled to regain ½ the price of the ship after it has been used. Devland99 180 Share Posted September 10, 2019 Turn 16 2216 Republic of Korinth After redrawing the means of shielding, scientist actually invent a way to project energy around the ship. Much more effective than deflectors due to it being able to negate damage all-together however it is prone to failing quickly from a very small amount of fire. [T1 Single-Phased Shields] A busy year politically, a new alien species arrives and scouts out the nearby system. [Encounter] The Republic is introduced to the Redon Empire via USF interactions and civilian exploration of these strange new worlds. CORRUPTOR DOMINION The spiderlings hurry off their colony ship and find themselves on a rocky ugly world ripe for purification. It is otherwise a quiet year after the devastation they brought upon the bat people. H’Wong Nation A massive breakthrough year for the H’wong as they discover two technologies that further their ships. A turquoise colored field of energy could be projected around their ships negating all damage, it was thin however and could only withstand small volumes of fire. [T1 Single-Phased Shields unlocked.] On the weapons front, they managed to design a propellant capable of boosting the speed of their projectiles greatly and with the addition of new barrel designs allows them to be just as accurate. [T2 Ship Kinetics unlocked] The Remnant One drone suggest instead of pursuing a stronger field why not negate the damage all-together? Perhaps they could project a field of energy around the ship. Looking at previous ways of improving the yield they receive from Fusion was a good start, a more efficient way is drawn up and with more resources and time they could present something. Alas the robotnik seeker sends back a ‘complete’ set of language based on “English”. The Foundry Millions upon billions of droids step off their factory in bulk, set out to work and improve the foundry. Instead of researching stronger engines, the droids decide to just make them slightly larger and add more to the ship greatly improving its survivability upon impact. They confidently test it out on an atmosphere rich world, everything seems to go well before the superstructure begins to show signs of wear before it breaks. Once again they would need to redraw. Talarak Clan Luckily the clan is able to build their ships in peace, all three disembarking safely from the mothership. Both explorer ships run into strange vessels unseen before by the clan, all of them caught up in mining operations and prospecting. Thankfully their stealth does pay off allowing these ships to easily identify visually from a distance before they return back to the mothership. Peg-Arm reports to the captain that after attempting to reverse engineer the deflectors, they could possibly reproduce these defensive systems, though they’ll need more time and supplies to accomplish this. The Antebellum Corporation The year seems uneventful at first, when halfway through a breakthrough causes waves in the scientific community. During their pursuit to attain a technology to project energized fields that are capable of manipulating matter, they manage to tweak an energy density so high, that it would actually turn into a solid substance, able to block mass and energy completely. [T1 Forcefields unlocked. Can be utilized for T1 shields as well.] Impressively they figure out how to create a stronger propellant and barrel design for their cannons, this allows them to be more accurate and punch slightly harder. [T2 Ship Kinetics.] The western colony needs attending to. [Encounter] In the east a lone destroyer encounters a small group of new ships that don’t match protorian standards, the interaction is peaceful but definitely worrying. The Tassarean Republic The vast funding does help their scientists acquire some more personnel and supplies but what good is that without the available space? [5+ RP This turn] Improving the healthcare for all leads to major benefits. Life expectancy is expected to soar on the child population and what limited prosthetic that are available give some people a resemblance of their old life. [0.10% Growth a year.] Scientist all over the nation hobble about their buildings and rooms conducting math and theory. They set about a plan which will take some time to properly design the artificial gravity plates. A surprise event occurs this year as a new species introduces themselves to both the Tassareans and the Protorians, they call their people the Zyrka. The encounter is peaceful. GrimBeard 46 Share Posted September 16, 2019 H’Wong Nation For years now the oligarchs and growing space trade barons had been keeping a tight grip on political policy making. Keeping the scientist happy and busy with projects, and the masses with peace and isolation. Profits have begun to flow in at large percentages, but things were to change. In perhaps a recurring drama, the Government and Military wanted access to the growing funds. Having fulfilled their promise of not sending out troops without proper equipment, and ships without proper shields, they wanted to go further. The new colony being established this year will prove testament to this policy. It will be a military world, filled with barracks and training grounds. From here the raw numbers needed to increase the navy and army will fill the ranks. Prospective recruits and younger H’Wong are already being sent there en masse. Devland99 180 Share Posted September 17, 2019 Turn 17 2217 EVENTS The Skellar Kingdom host an expo based on their strong metallurgy, all those in contact are invited. In the North, the Grand Empire and the Karass Dominion sign an uneasy truce. Years of warfare has left both sides exhausted, so they need the time to recuperate. And rearm for another round. Fareen-Tintran hostilities begin to ease as both sides begin to openly meet and converse on the topic of peace. After several years of result-less warfare the Fareen seem to have decided that Imperialism at this point in time is not viable, as there are many more worlds easier to take. Republic of Korinth The research into improving the single-phased shields needs more investment, it was easy enough to project a small field but to add another one is causing major issues. Skellar invitations come to the republic with the intention for them to travel and see their materials and alloys in action. CORRUPTOR DOMINION The year would have been quiet. Uneventful. New worlds taken over. Corrupters yearning for prey. However, the discovery of a drone scouting one of their systems brings them to attention. There are other neighbors nearby. Species to perfect. H’Wong Nation Retrofitting goes well, the H’Wong now boasting a fleet more than capable of defending itself. A bit of math here and a bolt there and eureka! The H’wong scientists have successfully sent a message between their worlds by Quantum Communications. This should shorten reaction times and ease up commerce and exchange of information substantially across the nation. H’wong settlers arrive on a world covered in ice, desolate frozen wastelands being the primary feature of the vast flat landscapes. The only two kinds of weather for this world are cloudy and blizzards. Something odd does however come to the attention of the colonists, and that is a blue crystal in massive formations in various caves across the planet, which seem to be… just odd. The Remnant Surprisingly the Robotniks of the Remnant discover a way to gain more yield out of their fusion reactors! [T2 Fusion Reactors Unlocked] Even though the Type-15 is built around a single cannon, it’s entire superstructure, engines, and even the barrel needs to be designed. With another year of investment, the remnant drones assigned to the project believe they’ll be able to carry the two and finish the program and projectors for the shields. They don’t ask for much. The Foundry So much of the foundry dedicated to a war-like environment, what are the robotniks planning? Their colony ship arrives to a quiet barren planet, the only notable thing being a giant scar across its surface. Whilst the size does not quite come up to the expectations, a first functional prototype of the ship is finally constructed, meeting the minimum specifications of the parameters all across the board. It should be able to deploy troops in single-use rapidly onto planetary surfaces, causing damage on impact, and more damage with the robots marching out and onward. Talarak Clan The Talarak fleet is able to evade being found this year, their new armor helping to keep away the occasional patrol or prospector. Stunningly the first ship reaches and moves to make contact with these aliens, it comes into a direct course with one of their ships. [ENCOUNTER] With the resources and testing they design a deflector field capable of projecting enough energy to slow bullets and other objects! Peg-arm clatters his pegged limb onto the device to reveal it to all. [T1 Deflectors researched] The Antebellum Corporation Northernmost colony has a foreign fleet warp into the system, looking damaged. Another fleet showing up in pursuit, engaging them, destroying them. Then going into orbit above the colony. Conducting repairs. Nothing more. Nothing less. The exploration ship that was sent east found nothing, the ones to the north however discover battlefields and debris. Their suspicions are confirmed later this year when their colony has new arrivals. Their sensors research actually goes incredibly well, the scientist only ask for another year of investment and supplies. Many of the companies present good hand-held rifles with vast improvements over the previous generation. They use the better propellant used by their ship-held counterparts meaning the bullets have much more stopping power. The only issue is that its all concept, they would need more resources to fully finish these weapons.
