Untempered Fi’, this was the great bastardization of the rituals of the Elibar’acal of old. With time it’s power withered, the very imprisoned souls being torn apart by time. With time the practitioners grew strong once more, their minds no longer cursed with the presence of another soul so very close to their own… But their hatred for the arcane festered, and with it, a return to the Tempered (thill) arts beckoned. While Untempered (ikru) Fi’ still exists whatever enabled the soul to endure for so long has vanished — and without knowledge of the “The Lifting” ritual, a soul will dissipate entirely within an elven month.

The Arcane and Eldritch are Cursed: Purity for a Price

Anti mages use the power of an imprisoned soul to channel mana or other guiding energies elsewhere, disrupting their magical form and thereby nullifying magic. Such a great effect did not come with great costs. The Untempered Fi’ mage wove the soul of another into their very own — exchanging great power for crippling effects on their body and psyche.

Without such the practitioner is limited to the simple, familiar mist of the Fi— but with it… The possibilities become a far more interesting affair entirely. It is the Untempered Fi’ practitioner who may, in truth, be able to output a more raw flurry of power. But he who has sacrificed and bound the soul, the Tempered user, who can forge things far more useful than initial appearances would ever reveal.

Thusly there finds a split amongst the Fi’ mages— those who temper their souls and those, perhaps unaware of the Ancient Ways— who do not (ikur). The Tempered (thill) soul has lost its true essence. The true soul passes on or ceases, and it is merely the apparatus of the soul which is used. The true individual is lost. Thusly this harvest’s end result is a knife to the heart. A death. Strictly speaking there is nothing unholy about a Tempered Soul, at least to the degree that any murderer is not unholy. Simply… A horrific person.

It has been harvested to be bound separate to the practitioner's own soul, yet in harmony with it— no longer truly separate. The Tempered Practitioner (thill) finds themselves, at the expense of raw power also found at a second disadvantage. That their captured soul, in the destruction of itself is weaker— and so must be fueled. Strictly speaking, it is not a soul. The soul is gone. It is a conduit for a second connection. All magic is poured through this window. Thusly non-standard magic(s) can be drained too.

As a consequence of this, the Fi’ practitioners with Tempered souls find themselves capable of infusing weaponry with magics-bane qualities. They are, however, still restrained to only practicing Fi' and are still somewhat physically weaker than their non-magical counterparts (but less crippled physically than a full mage). Despite this while draining the tempered Fi’ mage becomes even more physically weakened. Fascinatingly the mists form a link — even those who practice magics which do not weaken themselves find themselves as impaired as the Fi’ mage when being drained. It is the anti-mage who forges an equal playing field.

The Lifting— Sacrifice

It is not the act of the ancient Golden Owls to tear a soul from a freshly butchered corpse — though theoretically possible. Nor is it the way of them to kill a stranger. The acts of the Golden Owl was one of deep sadness, and wickedness. A life taken was no stranger. A life taken was done so for the one purpose, tied up upon a Soul Altar and— with a blade infused with the power of Fi— their very life essence harvested from them. Torn from their mortal being and into eternal servitude within the soul of their master. It is tempered and placed. It is without this ritual, without the very precision of the Ancient Elibar’acal, that a soul reaped is but a fraction of the use of one taken with proper method.

The Binding Stone

The Tempered Fi’ practitioner finds themselves with a ravenous imperfect soul bound to them, something which must be fueled. It is such that a Binding Stone is forged— an object in which the essence of incomplete, and, sometimes completed souls must be harvested. This is seen, most often through the harvesting of the essence of Soul Shadows and Fragments. Whereby the Fi’ practitioner seeks out ghosts, gravens and apparitions— along with other spectral beings— to harvest them of their power. It is notable that this, in and of itself, is no particular immoral act. For it is known, quite plainly, at least to many practitioners of the Ancient way, that these souls are fragments— not true souls. Often times the stone itself is placed in a Lantern or other such object. When in proximity, as with Untempered Fi’ before it the Tempered soul in a binding stone will whisper to the practitioner (in this way the original sacrifice can be communicated with) and cause the often psychosis-like breakthrough fits of Fi’ — albeit this can be attenuated by placing the soul in an Essence Library (this, of course, leaves the Fi’ mage vulnerable to attack without their anti-magics). In this case, it is not a trapped soul, in the same way — but rather a shell of a soul. The orb cannot be acted on by magic.

 Essence Libraries

A Fi’ practitioner is capable of keeping what might be deemed a collection of souls. For just as one can harvest souls and feed them into a binding soul— so can one leave a soul. Thusly, should one capture more than one soul— it can be… swapped in and out. In this way somewhat of a “library” of souls could be made. Their component orbs can be orbs made from a ritual of Lesser Lifting.

Perhaps the most critical function of these Essence Libraries is that Binding Stones together amplify the power of Fi’, thereby enabling them to drain as an Untempered would (a tier above) within the close proximity (25m) of an Essence Pillar (3 or more Binding Stones arranged together and linked by an Anti-mage’s magics). Alternatively a Fi’ mage may drain a mage of an equal tier without the traditional weakness which mists add to the Fi’ mage. Essence Libraries and Pillars can be made by a T4+ anti-mage but take 1 elven day to produce (i.e. again, you won’t be making one in battle).

Essence libraries can not be easily transported — without a means of transport such as a carriage (or many descendants) this is not something you may simply carry with you.

With effort, a T4+  Fi’ mage can transform an Essence Pillar to emanate Fi’ magic — effectively emanating Fi’ constantly to nullify magic within an enclosed room or within 5 meters of the pillar. This nullifies the magic within the enclosed space and is able to enable the creation of anti-magic prisons (similar to an Alteration mage might be able to do). This pillar no longer amplifies the power of Fi’ however.

Polyessence

Strictly speaking, it is possible for a Fi’ practitioner to utilize the power more than one essence from carrying multiple Binding Stones at a time. However, this does not increase power output. In moments of extreme exertion, this can increase the psychosis seen.

 On Psychosis

It is the very act of draining magic which brings the sacrificed soul closer to the anti-mage. With practice, the psychosis can be tempered, but will never vanish. It is a mind which has been bound to your own, if only temporarily for the tempered anti-mage. The anti-mage, albeit not psychotic at all times, is prone to bouts of psychosis — particularly after draining feats of anti-magic.

On the Curse of Magic

Anti-mages are harmed by excessive exposure to wards. This is not to say they cannot enter a warded area, but rather that they will become nauseous, even slightly weak, after lingering in an area for more than 30 minutes.

Partial Binding

Spirits and other similar spectral beings can be partially bound. Their soul essence not fed into the binding stone, but rather isolated in a separate one. Should the binding stone crack the creature could be freed. However, the more "powerful" the soul, the more difficult it is to contain. None-the-less... Such spectrals can sometimes be bound, and sometimes even used. In effect, this may be used to transport a spectral creature and release it.

More powerful spectral creatures — such as the terror of an Apparition — cannot be bound in such a way. Rather they require other souls to bind them in place — thereby requiring a sacrifice to capture such a vile beast. Three Lesser Lifting created orbs may be used to imprison a powerful spirit such as an apparition. But with the shattering of their orb, their wicked fury may be unleashed.

The Lifting— Sacrifice

The Ritual of the Lifting is different from that of Untempered Fi, for it is the stringent conditions which make for the true, Tempered Fi's creation. The ritual of the Elibar'acal follows, and yet it is sufficient but not necessary to create a Tempered soul. To become an anti-mage in the 1st place you must take part in the ritual, for your soul itself is enabled to bridge to Binding Stones.

The sacrifice is tied to the Altar, imbued with the magic of Fi. The room is lit only by the light of a Fi' orb in a specially made lamp. Gold dust is scattered upon the sacrifice as the following is read. Each in attendance may bless themselves as they so desire.

Elibar’acal, elkhel ito narne

il’cruan ay’thilln kaean taliiyh

adri’leh, ullral, ata— narne’ne ito

kaean evarn’lar.

The Golden Owl, darkness is upon us,

With pain and for silver, we bleed,

Apparitions, beasts and the wretched walk amongst us,

We are the shield.

The smile of Larihei heals the mind like milk heals the body,

liewyn'Larihei eltaeleh walehe ohn vallein eltaliyna walehe,

Milk is passed between those in attendance in a Silver Chalice. It is drunk by each in turn, symbolizing they are worthy of the Milk of Larihei, and therefore her smile.

Your body unfit for the milk, Your mind unfit for the smile of Larihei,

Your very essence forfeit.

The Milk is refused to the sacrifice, symbolizing they are unworthy of it. A blade imbued with Fi' energy (read: Fi'chant, just as the altar is) is used to cut the sacrifice's throat and as this is done droplets of blue will pool on the blade's tip. Blood is collected in a clay pot. The droplets will spin and form an orb of blue light which will become stable (PK) or will explode in a flash of light (no PK, soul escapes). It is required an orb be present to power both the altar and the blade.

The Ritual of the Lifting requires merely the gold dust, altar, blade and orb. Everything else is merely a detail. It is the soul which is destroyed used to forge a second connection to the void. It is then channeled into the orb. It is this orb which contains that which remains of the destroyed soul is a vessel to fuel the magic, and unlike in Untempered Fi, as established in the Fi' rebirth lore, must be fuelled by spectral or soul energy. It is as a consequence they often find themselves upon hunts for spectrals. Though, strictly speaking— a true soul can be used if one is inclined towards the immoral inclination of Fi'. The magic can not be used in absence of these orbs, which will not shatter like glass since they're— you know... made of soul and not glass. The precise orb can be changed. It is merely the fuel which is contained in the orb which is so required. The orb itself is the seat of the soul. No orb means no soul, no soul means no magic. Thusly, it is possible that a Fi' mage could be disabled by the orb being brought a distance from him (40 meters or more). The orb can be taken away, or simply left behind.  However, the orb itself is immune to magic acting upon it directly, given the soul bridges magical energies to the void. Anything which does act upon it dissipates if it is magic. Furthermore— a soul orb not in an essence library, or similar device to prevent dissipation, it will dissipate after it is out of "range" of a Fi' mage for more than an hour, before ceasing to be entirely. In this way, you can "disable" a Fi' mage for quite some time, until they find a new orb or sacrifice to make one. Binding Stones do not shatter without incredible physical forces (moreover, they cannot be harmed by magic whatsoever).

Given the difficulty in acquiring players to PK — while the initial ritual to create a Fi’ mage still requires a PK — to forge additional orbs (for the other functions of Fi’ particularly to replace a lost orb) requires only the ritual (The Lifting). The new orb will not capture the true essence of a soul (i.e. the whisperings will not be related to the trapped soul, the character cannot be communicated with,  and the character need not PK) but will function. This is known as a ritual of Lesser Lifting.

On Previous Fi’ Mages

Previous Untempered Fi’ mages must conduct a ritual of Lesser Lifting (no PK required) to forge a new Orb. Previous Tempered Fi’ mages may proceed as previously (they already possess orbs). The creation of a new Fi’ mage requires a full Lifting Ritual (PK required). Draining is resumed at the tier known previously (though other unknown new elements such as Enchanting, Pillars, etc. must be learned IC in their own right — and given a month they may catch up to the users current tier).

Abilities/Spells

  • Spell: Draining Mists

  • Description of the spell: Mist is summoned forth and can be manipulated and directed. The mists will shift and absorb magical energies and dissipating them where they interact equivalent in tier to the caster. A Fi’ mage of a lower tier may only dissipate half of a spell of the tier above.

  • Mechanics of the spell: Fi’ magic is emoted at a similar rate as other magics — it is neither faster nor slower. It is through the summoning of these anti-eldritch mists that the Fi’ practitioner must lean upon their Binding Stone — pushing them ever closer to the psychosis which characterizes their peculiar art. A Fi’ mage while casting mists however becomes weakened not just mentally by the psychosis but also temporarily physically — unable to carry out laborious physical feats.

  • Specific Red Lines:

    • The Fi’ mage may only fully drain the magics of a mage of a tier equivalent to their own or lower (regardless of wherein the tier the other mage may lie — for example of the Fi’ mage is a “high tier 4” and the other mage is a “new tier 4” this is irrelevant).

    • The Fi’ mage while casting mists is more physically weakened than in their normal state. A Fi’ mage is not going to be running around in heavy combat while also producing mists. By this means the Fi’ mage is forced to operate in groups for a Fi’ mage draining a mage is, in effect, just as crippled physically as the mage they drain.

    • Particularly strenuous draining can cause bouts of psychosis when all is said and done.

  • Spell: Silencing

  • Description of the spell: Mists are focused and penetrate deep into the subject’s form — latching onto their soul to disable their magic for a time. A user of magic is unable to use their abilities for a short time — though the connection can be disabled by a more powerful Fi’ mage. Magical enchantments can also be destroyed (albeit neither process is instantaneous enough to be done in the heat of a battle).

  • Mechanics of the spell: A restrained (or willing) subject is subject to the emotes which last no less than 10 minutes. The spell may only be performed on a mage of an equal or lower tier. The mage loses ability to conduct magic for a day. Once cast the ailer also finds his magical abilities weakened by a tier for a day.

  • Specific Red Lines:

    • OOC consent is required for blocking for more than a day — for example with consent magic can be blocked permanently

    • The subject must be fully restrained and the ritual un-interrupted or it must be started again

    • The magic may not be done mid-battle

    • It may only be conducted on a mage of equal or lower tier

  • Spell: Rending

  • Description of the spell: Mists are focused on a disabled or otherwise willing subjects, seeping deep into their soul and shattering something within.

  • Mechanics of the spell: The spell can only be conducted with OOC consent. Over a long series of emotes (and typically an elaborate ritual which is more symbolic to the Elibar’acal than actually enhancing the magic) the Fi’ mists repeatedly shock the soul, tearing at its very fabric. The full practice will take 3 days of rending. This is typically done to remove a magical affliction with some precision or can be done maliciously to dull a mind creating a husk of what lay before.

  • Specific Red Lines:

    • OOC consent is required

    • By the end of a 3rd day an affliction of the soul can be removed (such as Frost Witch magic)

    • By the end of a 3rd day a mind can “husked” — the character left a shadow of what they once were… Their personality forever lost

  • Spell: Enchanting

  • Description of the spell: Mists are focused to imbue a weapon or object with the energies of Fi’, enabling long-lasting effects

  • Mechanics of the spell: Over a long series of emotes (and typically an elaborate ritual which is more symbolic to the Elibar’acal than actually enhancing the magic) the Fi’ mists settle upon the object of choice. This is a process which is lengthy enough it cannot be fully completed in the midst of battle.

  • Specific Red Lines:

    • When imbuing a shield while mists might absorb the brunt (90%) of a single magical attack once per hour of combat (before requiring this time to regenerate) it cannot be stacked (i.e. once used, you cannot simply have 2 wards on the same shield enabling repetitive shielding)

    • For a dagger or blade, being struck by such a weapon might poison a mage’s ability to produce magic, significantly reducing their power by 50%. That said, keep in mind a mage is going to be weakened by being stabbed period… So keep in mind the relative utility of this. Once used once, the mist dissipates and but regenerate within the hour (this also can’t be stacked, one enchantment per weapon)

    • Arrows and other projectiles cannot be enchanted and shot — the thin mist imbuement is blown away at high velocities (no anti-mage crossbows which disable a mage on hit)

Red Lines

  • Due to the nature of their connection to the Void, ailer cannot enter into heavily enchanted areas for prolonged periods.

  • Side effects include, but are not limited to:

    • Loss of weight and muscle as well as being required to eat more and more frequently due to an over-active metabolism.

    • Occasional incredibly realistic and lucid dreams or nightmares, which can lead to confusion concerning reality versus fantasy.

    • Reduced physical ability such that they might be overcome by a non-magically inclined descendant physically, albeit not as much as an Arcane mage.

  • Side effects can be attenuated by relinquishing the Binding Stone, after which case all symptoms subside over a matter of an IRL weak (with full strength returning within 3 IRL months). However, this, of course, leaves the anti-mage entirely unable to use their magic.

  • Attempting to learn another magic will cause extreme weakness and can lead to death (i.e. it is impossible).

  • An anti-mage cannot have ever known another magic — if they do such the Lifting ritual will cause their death if it is successful.

  • A ritual using the same type of Lifting Blade which 1st creates a Fi’ mage may be used to remove Fi’ — this can only be conducted by a teacher.

  • The ritual of creating a Fi’ mage can only be conducted by someone taught the art who possesses a Lifting Blade.

  • The ritual of creating an Archon may only be conducted by someone taught the art who possess a Lifting Blade.

  • A Lesser Lifting Blade may be created (enabling the crafting of new Binding Stones) but is unable to create new Fi’ mages or Archons.

  • It is integral that Fi’ drains all magics (otherwise the magic becomes a competition to gain favor with the LT to become the “exception” and becomes a game of politics and not RP). There is no exception.

  • Fi’ mages are physically weaker than the average individual, albeit not as much as a normal mage. While casting their physical disability increases, however. Typically this forces them to operate in groups given a drained mage may still be physically an equal threat to the Fi’ mage who has drained them.

  • A fi’ mage fully drains the magic of a mage of an equal tier — but no higher. Except wherein Essence Pillars are involved.

  • Always remember the triangle of balance: Mage > Soldier, Soldier > Fi, Fi > Mage

Tier Progression

Admittedly given the very strict and simple nature of the magic (draining affecting those of a similar tier or lower) the tier progression chart becomes somewhat unnecessary (as all the tier information is above, primarily). Nevertheless, the abilities gained at each tier are replicated below.

Tier One

  • Abilities that can be learned: Draining

  • Limits of those abilities: See limits of spell section (i.e. Draining may only be successful on those of an equal tier).

Tier Two

  • Abilities that can be learned: Draining

  • Limits of those abilities: See limits of spell section (i.e. Draining may only be successful on those of an equal tier).

Tier Three

  • Abilities that can be learned: Draining, Enchanting

  • Limits of those abilities: See limits of spell section (i.e. Draining may only be successful on those of an equal tier).

Tier Four

  • Abilities that can be learned: Draining, Enchanting, Rending,  Essence Pillars/Library Formation, Archon Formation (Lore Posted Elsewhere)

  • Limits of those abilities: See limits of spell section (i.e. Draining may only be successful on those of an equal tier).

Tier Five

  • Abilities that can be learned: Draining, Enchanting, Rending, Essence Pillars/Library Formation, Archon Formation (Lore Posted Elsewhere)

  • Limits of those abilities: See limits of spell section (i.e. Draining may only be successful on those of an equal tier).

Purpose (OOC)

Fi’ (anti-magic) has been lore which has existed for numerous years on LotC since 2014. Numerous active characters (most notably magicpastry’s Ikur Seregon) have been active practitioners of the magic for years and, when the magic was shelved, found their characters inexplicably unable to perform their magic. Moreover, the Elibar’acal are a key component of high elven history with numerous historical events being tied to the family and their near-eponymous magic.

The goal of the current iteration will be to continue to expand on rituals and other components of the magic — giving the lore a dark and frequently low-fantasy appeal with salt, gold dust and other typical anti-magic tropes. No doubt future additions to the lore many continue to make ritualistic additions as is seen currently with the rituals of The Binding, Rending and other components. It is my hope the lore will return and continue to function as a fascinating foil to the frequently very magical high elves and other denizens of the various nations of LotC.

Notably not once in the history of the magic has any practitioner been the subject of a report, nor have specific instances of the magic’s use ever been questioned — a testament to it’s responsible use. Notably the LT recently has placed objections to “glass cannons”. This is understandable — it is thusly this re-write of the magic places draining in terms of equal-tier to a mage. To reduce this any further (as was done in the Iconoclast lore) makes Fi’ less than useful. After all, why would anyone learn a magic which causes psychosis and restricts all other magics to 50% drain magic… when they could simply learn another magic and have 100% parity. While essence Pillars grant Fi’ mages a defensive boon, this primarily amounts to flavor given their difficult to transport nature.

Hatred of magic is an isolating thing — and for generations the Elibar’acal and those other practitioners of Fi’ have been but nomads and low in number. And yet, over years it was these Fi’ mages who gathered Essence Libraries wherein souls were collected. Souls which could have been put to use… were there a fine purpose for them.

By binding the essence of Souls together a Fi’ mage can create an Archon. A beast forged of soul energy.  The process of creation requires two descendants— willing or unwilling (albeit always willing OOC) — and the fusion of both magic and Fi’ energies. It is by absorbing increasing amounts of magic that they Fi’ mages begin to pierce the veil which separates their soul from that of their Binding Stone. Historically this was done by the systematic destruction of a, particularly powerful ward.

The to-be transformed are tied (or can simply rest upon) to the Altar, imbued with the magic of Fi. The room is lit only by the light of a Fi' orb in a specially made lamp. Gold dust is scattered upon the transformed as the following is read. Each in attendance may bless themselves as they so desire.

The smile of Larihei heals the mind like milk heals the body,

The transformed will impale themselves (or be impaled if unwilling) with the sacrificial Fi’ blade within the mists of the Fi’ mages who have absorbed the great power of the enchantment (or other sources of magic). As they are stabbed (so long as the ritual was conducted properly) they shall instantaneously light up in blue and their energies merge — an Archon born.

Physical Description

Archons are creatures of energy — bound to the Fi’ mage that forged them (in the case of multiple one is primary). The beings of blue-white energy are anchored by a Binding stone at their center which is the source of their power and their greatest vulnerability — if it is shattered much like a Golem they will be destroyed. Obviously, only one player can play the generated Archon — even if it is comprised of two souls.

Strengths/Weaknesses:

  • Archons take on a humanoid form — albeit without legs — they levitate on their mists

  • Comprised of a (typically) blue-white energy which behaves much like a denser Fi’ mist surrounding their core which they may shape into weapons of their choice — physically it’s properties is much like the energies of arcanism (though obviously not of similar origin).

  • Blue-white energy is solid as stone and must be cracked to access the core

  • Able to channel their blue-white energy into very short-range blasts of energy within 3 meters (beyond this range their energy disperses rapidly from a fine mist into nothingness).

  • Magical projectiles are significantly attenuated on striking an Archon (80%) — their vulnerability to magic is severely limited. However, of course, if a magic is used to throw a real object (for example a telekinetic throwing a rock) they will still be damaged by the physical force.

  • Unable to drain magic — they are not Fi’ mages and cannot drain a mage — albeit a blast of their blue-white energy will  stun a magic-fueled creature

  • Physically somewhat weaker than a golem, but stronger than a descendant

  • As slow as a golem with a vulnerable core

  • More vulnerable like other magical creatures to gold

  • Invulnerable to Fi’, except the Fi’ of their creator

  • An Archon can be reforged with a ritual of lesser lifting — the dissipated souls can be regathered with the energy of this ritual

Mental Description

An Archon’s mindset is influenced by the two souls which forged them. Frequently, one soul will come to dominate the soul of the Archon while the other becomes a subservient energy source. Albeit the memories of both past descendants who comprise the creature are often accessible. An Archon is somewhat mentally dulled compared to a descendant — it is unlikely they will be a scholar of any sort given the soul-rending nature of the transformation. Albeit they are capable of some thought. The Archon is bound to the will of their Fi’ mage — and is inclined, by nature, to aid them.

General Red lines/Restrictions

  • May not learn magic of any kind, even anti-magic

  • Archons are mentally dulled, as if by rending, to an extent

  • Like the stone of a golem, the condensed mist of an Archon is vulnerable to shattering — and the core may be reached with sufficient damage

  • A shattered core will destroy the Archon, similar to the destruction of a Golem

  • Beyond 3 meters around the creature their mists which make up their form dissipate

  • Their evoked weapons themselves as well as their energy is not capable of draining magic like Fi’, albeit they may temporarily stun a struck creature made of magic given the inherent properties of the condensed Fi’ msit they are comprised of

Purpose (OOC)

Fi’ is a multi-slot magic which, when in the presence of non-magical role-players can lose its purpose. After all, only about 5% of the server plays mages and thusly flavor is often required for the anti-mage. Moreover, Archons give Fi’ mages an alternative to the creation of magical creatures which are often the Hallmark of other mages existences, enabling them an additional piece of flavor. I understand the name Archon has been used before (albeit the lore has been removed). If it is a key obstacle obviously we can rename the creature (then again, you can call things anything you want IC anyway so name duplication hardly means anything).

I don’t necessarily have a problem with Fi’, but isn’t half of this why the magic got axed back at the end of Vailor beginning of Axios?

I can see why we have a proper format now, this was a tad confusing to read and follow. If you can look at the first pinned topic to make changes and follow the format the ST have set forward it would be a good starting point.

I like the lore, but I think you should include the reaction between Fi and more specific forms of magic, for example druidic connections. How would Fi magic react on such, as druids are permanently connected? Would it stop their connection to work? How about the new Frostwitch Lore if it gets accepted, how would Fi react on such? Would be interesting to see much clearer specifics added in.

There would be no exceptions in terms of what magics react with Fi’. Druid’s would not be fully disconnected, that would be ridiculous. Their magic would falter just as a mage’s would. In terms of the larger picture, the reason there are no exceptions is namely because of issues (such as multi-slotting).

“I'll just destroy you with my other magic!” Level stuff.

ive always wondered how antimagic worked when it came to solid magic stuff like, say someone threw an evoked boulder at you but you are anti magiced up, does it just vanish on contact, does it burst apart?

Hm. While I respect the amount of work you’ve put into this, there isn’t much background information to explain things. What the abilities do is stated rather clearly; but why they are the way they are, and how they became this way are a little less clear.

If you can add more filling to this and explain how it came into existence rather than just “Fi and festering hatred”, then I could support it.

ive always wondered how antimagic worked when it came to solid magic stuff like, say someone threw an evoked boulder at you but you are anti magiced up, does it just vanish on contact, does it burst apart?

Well, an example used in the writing was a telekinetic throwing a rock. Hypothetically, if the Fi’ mage was quick enough (probably not, it’s a rock being thrown at them with magic), they cannot cancel the rock out of existence as it is not inherently magic but can cancel the magic from propelling it forward if done successfully and fully.

But taking this one step forward; if magic summoned a rock from the void without interruption from a Fi’ mage, the earth evocationist would find themselves with a pebble or such. I am not entirely summed up on earth evocation, but to my knowledge this is now an actual pebble being shaped by the magic. When the Fi’ mage interrupts the magic, instead of the pebble just evaporating, the potential of the evocationist expanding or crumbling the rock is severely restricted or rendered dull.

Thanks for the question; this will certainly be clarified upon in the future in terms of the lore.

Also if I’ve skipped your question, it means I spoke with you on discord or I need to not have 4 am brain to answer it.
