“Glimmer Points”

Origin - Backstory

“The hellspawn that dwell on this war are ruthless, yet they lie in the shadows and never show their own nest. Where, where are they?”

The term, “Glimmer Point” was coined by occultists and supernatural theorists that were exposed to the incursions of the Oyashimia-Cathant border within Aeldin’s South. The initial warfront and Cathant invasion of Aeldin led to the exposure of the creatures termed ‘Yokai’ and ‘Oni’ into the surrounding wilderness. What was strange was that there was no real point of origin discovered, yet nestled within the forests of the Oyashiman expanse were these creatures that never ceased to attack, harass and capture soldiers from both sides. Those from the schools of the Marked themselves were employed to try and isolate and quarantine the source, yet nothing was truly found after years of constant incursions and expeditions.

Only after the Cathant occupation of Oyashima, a breakthrough was made into the mysterious forest that bordered the two. Strange items of interest started appearing around the outskirts of an area, about 40 imperial horses surrounding the ‘centre’ of the zone. Small blackened chains, masks from Oyashimian styled figures and pieces of fauna that were completely alien to most. One of the Marked figures speciailising in occultists breaches ended up going to the zone, to only simply be overwhelmed mentally when stepping into the forest itself. Reports mention of him talking about the sudden ‘shift’ in landscape, where the forests stood were pillars of battered corpses and creatures of proportions that were completely unknown to him. A glimmer into some other realm, some other strange place.

Details

“Glimmer Points” are sporadic tears into the mortal realm where another realm will ‘leak’ its influence into at varying times, severity and a general chaotic incursion into these areas. The main idea is that this place of influence is not permanent, they are a temporary incursion that are caused by a variety of suspected issues. The formation of Egregores, mass destruction caused by energy deemed either voidal or deific, general displacements created by those of Rasmot’s followers, the possibilities are deemed endless and no single method has been proven to be the sole cause of these Glimmer Points.

“Glimmer Points” overtake a certain area, size can vary from a few meters to expanses that go over hundreds of kilometers. The area contained within these Glimmer Points are normally altered severely, whether from the energies and ripples of reality, or just figures of those realms leaving behind debris and decay with their eventual incursions. These ‘temporary’ Glimmer Points can last from a few minutes to years and centuries, these constraints are difficult to observe and cannot be used to make a proper observation. The “longest” recorded Glimmer Point is the Oyashimian, where it has been reported to have lasted almost close to three centuries without closure. Yet there have been reports of other glimmer points within recent times that have lasted a few seconds, demonstrated by the sporadic influence of the Mordskovian disaster.

There have been anomalies recorded within these zones with certain magics and constructs, affecting them in ways that many would find strange. The current list of known anomaly based magics and creatures within Glimmer Points are listed below:

Quote

Animati:

The Machine Spirit and the Automata find themselves randomly jolted by bursts of energy that have no real origin or purpose. Occasional malfunctions to these constructs is apparent when in these zones, nothing catastrophic but would be obvious in identifying a Glimmer Point

Seers of Vaasek:

The blind kabal of the Aengudaemon of deception are granted with the occasional idea of premonition when relating to these zones. Sometimes, visions will be granted to the blind that will have glimpses of the Glimmer Point and its direct origins. Whether hellish or benign, most of these visions are not immediately connected as a premonition and can be mistaken for nightmares.

(As a note, these are simply flavor additions. The Glimmer Point can be altered to whatever specifications that the ST wishes for. They can have magic either be empowered, affected or completely negated in these zones. Whatever would make sense is allowed.)

Red Lines -

- These glimmer points can be only utilised by those on the ST. They are a tool for events, you cannot cause or summon a glimmer point whenever you wish.

– These cannot be applied to settlements that do not agree OOC’ly to such. Ensure when establishing these zones that they are either outside of a direct playerbases’ zone of influence, or get permission to do as such

- If intruding into realms of divinity, you cannot use these to directly enter these realms. GOD realms specifically are limited in their capacity of glimmer points.

- Realms are endless, either use currently established lore or create your own realms that would be usable.

Purpose (OOC) -

Event resource lol

Uh. Hundreds of kilometers? Didn’t think Arcas, or really any continent/realm in LOTC, has been that large haha.
