TO OUR BELOVED NATION,

With the previous Governor General for the province of Curonia tendering her resignation, the Crown has seen fit to appoint Wilhelm Edward II Devereux as Ester Rose’s successor in office. Wilhelm’s stalwart character and strong relation to the province is noted by the Imperial government. May he govern with the wisdom and strength required to secure peace in Curonia for the future evermore.

This We Proclaim,

HIS IMPERIAL MAJESTY, Peter III Anthony, Holy Orenian Emperor, King of Renatus, Salvus, Seventis, and Curon, Duke of Lorraine and Roden, Baron of Sedan and Vitzburg, Protector of the Heartlanders, Highlanders, and Farfolk, etcetera.

Spoiler

Godric does not recall having heard of any resignation from Ester, shaking his head sadly as the tyrants of the south refer to her merely as ‘Governor General’. ”Despite all the sacrifices she and her people made for a war you and your foul ilk started all that was rendered unto her was theft and treachery. Titles stolen, both monarchic and ducal by that pathetic coward hiding in the depths of Helena.” Standing atop the mighty walls of Montburgh, he’d watch a procession of Tibers and Martyrs solemnly carry the body of the executed Queen southwards. Her final requests still ringing loudly in his ears ”With her died more honour than resides in the entirety of the Helenan court, resolute to the end. Despite countless betrayals and failures by the tyrant. She is one who did not die a regent, but a Queen. For though we were foes she dies standing. Never will the pathetic theft of the southern King be able to rob her of that. Nor his adulterous wife. May Ester Rose, Queen of Curon rest in peace under the watch of whatever Gods she bore” he’d whisper solemnly to himself. Mr Muffins standing nearbye bearing a heavy fur cloak and a heat lamp to ward off the bitter winter snows. The winds of the Northmarch blowing a sad dirge over the marchlands.

A young Wilhelm Edward II Devereux broods silently as he reads the Emperor's announcement. His green eyes sweep over the courtroom as the weight of leadership is borne on the youth's shoulders. He says only two words before turning away, deep in thought.

"Curon endures."
